P. B.Decent pub and the beer is cheaper than other prince's Ave pubs. The pool table is in good order although the ques need replacing! The outdoor seating is looking tired but does the job. Nice pub all in all 👍🏻
I. W.Nice big venue and plenty of choice of drinks. Unfortunately we were unable to eat there as their catering is outsourced and they do not have any Gluten Free options on the menu.
I. R.Was a mid week visit, so very quiet, only about 6 patrons. No food was being served. The Guinness was spot on tho, so cellar is looked after.

M. W.Pearsons Bar is a great HU5 pub, with a spacious and well maintained interior and a patio looking onto the street. It hasn't got the widest selection of beers, but there's definitely something for everyone.
They have a decent pool table and the staff are friendly, especially the landlord, Jimmy, who always makes an effort to make people welcome and seems to be on site 24/7!
And last but not least is the fact that Pearsons Bar is the only pub in HU5 that opens past midnight, usually serving until 2am Fri-Sun. The fact that you can enjoy a pint until the early hours, either indoors with music, or outside, makes this place a must for night owls.

S. B.Pearsons Bar has been part of Princes Ave under various names for many years now and is always a pleasant visit.
It is a large bar with a good selection of drinks and food. The service is always good and it's a great place to watch sports.
If the weather is good, there are also outside seats
C. W.Always nice staff inside, shame the pools not available at the moment as that's usually a really nice chill environment to have a laugh with friends. Nice for a quick drink or a couple hours to relax.

A. W.I have two different opinions on this place depending on whether it's a day visit or evening visit.
Day times always seem to be reasonably quiet and therefore you seem to get much better service, food comes out quickly and the food is always warm.
There's been a few day time visits where hot drinks have been forgotten but resolves quickly when mentioned.
Any evening visits though have always left us a little disappointed, service is slow and they seem to pick and choose who they serve at the bar and a few times been given wrong drinks.
Definitely a nice place if you pick the right time.
M. E.Ownership has changed recently (back to the landlord who had it before the last one). Back to the great, friendly service I was used to! Good range of drinks, busy on a weekend with a DJ if that's your thing. Haven't had food recently but it was good under this landlord last time so I imagine it'll be the same this time. A great place to take the family for a lunch / dinner out.
J. S.Had my mum's funeral wake there this week. The place is lovely and comforting. Plenty of space for guests. The staff are so helpful, considerate, and friendly. The buffet was delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you all. You did us proud.
J. O.Bit empty last night due to hull fair as was every bar on princess ave. The staff were very friendly and chatty. Good menue and clean tidy place all round. Band was starting at 10 but we left before then due to work commitments.
S. C.Not a bad pub being one of, if not the, largest on Princess Ave but it does have problems.
When busy, the noise level does get particularly high and it can be difficult to hear yourself think.
When we visited recently the tables and floor were sticky and in need of a good clean but worst of all the gents toilet trough was blocked and over flowing so you literally had to tip toe through it. Of course this was most likely an exceptional occasion but it doesn't do much to encourage a return visit.
On a plus note though, prices are reasonable and staff are generally friendly.

p. r.EDIT : new managers removed, previous landlord back under control. 5 star service resumed ...... The following review no longer applies .New managers, a completely different experience to previous visits, so much so that I left tonight feeling extremely uncomfortable. We had won the quiz and been given food and drink vouchers, we set up a tab and ordered a couple of rounds of drinks, when we went to pay with the vouchers the manager challenged us saying the vouchers were for draught only (wasn't told this) and that he hadn't even given them out to us (well we didn't blinking print them!) Almost ended in a shouting match. Rude. Also, very smelly and dirty female toilets. Goodbye Pearson's, I enjoyed you while you lasted.
K. M.Situated at the start of the trendy Princes Avenue strip of bars and restaurants, this is a comfortable vibrant pub restaurant. The staff are attentive and friendly. Visited on 29/5/15 and had the Beef Sunday roast. Also popular for sporting TV events. Highly recommended
C. B.I went for Sunday lunch with my daughter, a rare treat out. I was disappointed to find there was no traditional Sunday roast available so I ordered the steak Yorkshire pudding wrap that apparently comes with a LARGE jug of gravy. It was inedible, the steak was impossible to cut or eat just one big lump of gristle. The wrap was also full of sage and onion stuffing! With steak! I did complain but had no feed back from the staff.

S. G.The Sunday night quiz is absolutely first rate. The quiz master, Ken, does a fine job. It's nice to see disadvantaged people being given a chance. It must take some practice to get him to use the equipment without his special gloves on (he had a nasty accident when eating fish fingers once). He has a unique delivery, just don't sit down wind from him after he's had his fish sticks. Overall a lovely evening.
