M. K.Had a great meal today, myself and my husband had a carvery and my son had a kids meal. We had a lovely time and the staff we lovely too. The carvery had a great mix of meat and vegetables. We also had dessert which were amazing. Would highly recommend.

The daytime offer of a small Carvery & desert is £8.50 is very good value. With a choice of beef, pork, turkey, gammon or a vegetarian option, this is a good place to go if you fancy a Sunday lunch during the week.
S. G.I've not visited here for a while as the food/service started to dip due to staffing issues (lockdowns etc). It's a convenient place to visit for me as it's on the route home so tonight we decided to give it another try and I'm so glad we did.
I hadn't booked and it was teatime on a Saturday but we were seated quickly. The staff were welcoming and I requested a GF menu, unsure if they'd have one or it might be an allergen tablet 🙄, but I was really surprised to be given an actual GF menu with loads of options! For the first time since I've been diagnosed with Coeliac and eaten out I had a three course meal! Prawn Cocktail to start with a slice of GF bread, Cowboy Burger for main and Chocolate Fudge Cake for dessert.
Kids ordered off the kids menu and had chicken nuggets, carrots and chips the other ordering sausages, mash and beans. Parents both had the carvery. All of our food was great, both carveries were plentiful and my dad's only quibble was not enough meat, mums was her gammon was too fatty which it was to be fair.
I felt really at ease eating GF here, the staff seemed really knowledgeable and it was really busy tonight, great atmosphere and really clean.
There are several highchairs stacked right outside the toilet area, overlapping the ladies entrance, I only mention this as I tripped slightly coming out so I'm not sure if this is a temporary thing but if it's permanent I'd suggest moving them as they take up a lot of room in a small area especially when your trying to maintain some distancing.
I've taken a photo of the GF menu as I was really impressed with the selection and the blurb at the top.
O. A.I had the Sunday roast from the Carvery and the food was delicious. I am African so most of the food I have in the UK aren't always to my taste but I've dropped by the Carvery twice in one month because of how good the food taste. I have also recommended it to others.
The environment was warm, neat and the workers friendly.
I had a great time and got value for my money.
L. T.Our fave place in hull for a Sunday carvery. Always plenty to choose from and really generous portions. The dauphinois potatoes are amazing g! Staff are always lovely and greet you with a smile on their face. Especially the beautiful waitress, Frisian… her smile lights up the room and she goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. Already looking forward to our next visit.

I have been to other places where staff seemed disinterested. But not here smiley talkative polite welcoming definitely worth a visit. We would return

He was very attentive and apologised for the wait as he was washing his hands ( which is really good to hear about the cleanliness with covid-19 still around) he was very polite and asked how our day was going and if we was up to much. M. S.This is about my 3rd visit to Red Sails. Always welcoming and friendly, and service is good. This is the 1st time wed booked a table. Upon arriving however, no-one to greet us, but while there were reservation motives on the tables there weren't any names on them, at least what I could see.
There were plenty of open tables so we chose one. This was only the negative experience in an overall great experience.

We went for breakfast, which was cooked perfectly, Linzi served us and was really helpful when I wanted to change and add different things to my breakfast, nothing was too much trouble.

Two ordered from the main menu whilst one of us ordered the small carvery. Beef is usually order of the day, however, I don't like to say but it looked a little 'stringy' so I went for the Turkey and a little Gammon. The Turkey was perfect and the Gammon was not salty at all - again, perfect. The veg was cooked to perfection too. As for the Yorkshire Pud - blimey, how big! haha
Gammon was ordered from the Main Menu and when it arrived the recipient was shocked at the size of the portion, although she did manage to eat it all so that says everything.
The last order from the Main Menu was the Fish and Chips, again, the recipient got a shock at the size and, although she was unable to finish it, she thoroughly enjoyed it.
After finally being able to move after all that wonderful food, it was time to head on over to the Cake Take Away to see what was heading home with us. Have to say, the Cake Take Away is a great idea. A slice of Rainbow Cake, Eclair Cake and two slices of Fudge Cake headed their way home. I cannot speak for the others, however, even a day after, the Rainbow Cake was still lovely and moist - perfect.
The staff all had wonderful smiles on their faces, they were busy yet still had time to have conversations whilst ordering food and drinks.
It was the first time that two of the party had been in a pub since before lockdown and, understandably, they were apprehensive, however, they said they felt so at ease and are looking forward to returning soon.

L. W.As a chef from Germany I have to say this place is pretty good. Nice Ambiente, friendly and professional staff. The food was prepared fast and was pretty nice. I had the hunters chicken. I'm not used to large potato chips, they were perfectly crispy tho. Chicken was juicy, bacon covered the whole chicken breast. Only complaint I'd have was that there was no dressing on the salad. But I probably could have asked for some.

H. C.Every time I've been they haven't got steak and ale pie so had the carvery instead. Choice of veg is poor and never cooked it's always rock hard. Meat, it's more like Pulled Pork, Turkey, Beef it's little strands and wafer thin.

G. S.Had lovely carvery at red sails recently , which was definitely good value for money . The sticky toffee pudding, was the best l have ever had. They had a special deal on which was a small carvery and pudding for just over £8. You got a good choice of veg also.
R. M.Not bad for the price, I guess. I did go on an evening towards the end of the carvery and you could tell with the roast potatoes that they had been left out for a while which let it down for me and the gravy was quite thick. Customer service seems to be ok too. The gammon was nice and soft.

Had to wait in an orderly queue to order our drinks and , on this occasion , the daily Carvery.
There was a queue to get to the Carvery but the queue moved quite quickly as the Chef was efficient at his carving job and a pleasant attitude to the customers 😊👍
Would probably suggest more staff behind the bad though 🤔

Even down to the little things like staff remembering I need the non gluten menu due to coeliac disease (also never been glutenned here!) Today's highlight is how lovely and smily Frisian always is! HOWEVER, I just paid £8 for 2 pints of ‘Pepsi’ which tastes worse than rolls-cola.
It’s even listed as ‘cola’ on the receipt even tho it’s all branded Pepsi.
The drinks here are high priced and kinda off putting.

A. D.Thia pub was very we priced. I had a carvery which was really tasty and the portion was good for the price. We had a party of 20 and they accommodated us quite well. We went on a Saturday night around 6pm and it was very busy so we had to wait 30 mins on non carvery items. Pictured is a small carvery.

The thing is my partner had to keep coming back from the bar to change things if I’d have known I would have chosen something different.
S. N.On arrival we were met by a member of staff she was very friendly and showed us to a table. We ordered our food which was very good and arrived quickly. It was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent our waitress was Ellie who was very polite and nothing was to much trouble. The food was good quality, generous portions and generally delicious.

S.Went a little late on a Sunday night after work so roast potatoe were not very nice and I didn't know you could slice turkey so thin, a few people went for carvery after us and they were give fresh dauphinoise potatoes and extra yorkshire puddings ect as they seemed to be friends with the chef and staff. M. R.Nice meal in a nice Restaurant. 2nd visit in a week.. and all because another old favourite places is currently having staffing issues and only serving Hotel guests. Well their loss was Red sails gain as on both occasions the food was wonderful. Presentation today was remarkable... certainly better than on my previous visit where it was a carvery and I slung it on the plate and stacked it high.... Yes I take the blame on that one.food and service has been wonderful. And now makes the Red sails my first choice. Great value for money too!

S.With it been my wife's 50th birthday and wanted to treat her to a nice lunch we both agreed on red sails easy place to reserve a table on arrival Welcoming and Friendly staff greeted by Linz who was amazing ..food was great value healthy portions my wife had the scampi and I had beer battered cod superb taste and would definitely recommend so relaxed and at ease with no rush to vacate table 10/10 all round

B.Booked Family birthday lunch.6 adults 2 toddlers.no one greeting.person behind bar shouted have you booked.said yes asked name an then pointed to where our table was.table only set for 5 adults.was rectified quickly when informed.prices are dear compared to wingfields.nearly double for small carvery.food was lovely.an wasn't waiting long for it.love that get refills on pepsi & lemonade.but no fosters,carling or coors.
