M. R.Great atmosphere and vibe. The decoration around the place is amazing and eye catching and the staff seem friendly enough. There wasn't much choice for vegetarians on the menu, and it's a shame the sweet potato fries are no longer on the menu as I have been told many good things. The wedges replacement were alright. The food was alright but bizarre to have a chicken sandwich which is a chicken wrapped in a pitta bread. The grease dripped through to make the bottom soggy. Was alright but wouldn't come again for food, maybe some drinks but...

Whenever we have a night out we will always visit the brain jar for some amazing cocktails. Also some great art work on the walls. IV not eaten here but the food looks really good.

We have only been in for drinks but we were served very quickly - we was a bit spoilt for choice so struggled to decide but our server was incredibly patient and friendly in making drinks suggestions. The drinks are prepared to a wonderful standard and we would not hesitate to return.

P.brilliant place for a party, the upstairs function room was perfect, the pizzas were amazing, drinks were a bit expensive, but we had table service so can't complain. lovely friendly staff 😊

Been in here a fair few times for casual meet ups with friends, or just as a causal retreat when a night on the town gets a bit sloppy. Brain Jar's great - I like to think of it as a bubble of tranquility, nestled amongst the madness of late night Hull
Call me crazy, but there's something magical about watching a bouncer wrestle a screaming drunk to the ground, while you're reclined in a comfy armchair sipping on a macchiato. Beats ITV put it that way 😂
* Not sure if they've tweaked the opening hours since, but pretty sure I've been in here til like 2am previously.

b. m.First time I have visited and definitely won't be that last! The menu was small but well varied, with a real home cooked appeal to lots of items. We opted for a pizza and some of their signature bread balls and dip. It was all very tasty and seemed to be made with care and quality ingredients. The cocktails were really nice too! The range of drinks was enough to keep even the most seasoned of beverage connoisseurs more than satisfied!

D.Went here about a month ago for a pub quiz. Was talking about the idea of going to one for ages and we finally did and a friend chose this location. The staff were funny and welcoming on the pub quiz night and I had a great time. The lady behind the bar remained professional which I felt added to the experience. It was one of their first pub quizzes (I think the second one) so there weren't many participants and our group had to split into two. A few kinks that needed to be worked out but it feels quite nice.
The place has an indie feel, it's a little travel off town or the docks, and the street isn't a main street.
The bathroom is a bit of a trek, if you want to find it, you have to travel up two flights of stairs and the upper layer feels like a different place altogether. All sorts of graffiti and the bathroom is full of graffiti. This appears to be art-related and intended but still reminds me of anti-social behaviour and I'm not entirely comfortable with it (just from a safety concern incase the pub actually attracts those kind of people, it had an automatic sense of making me raise my guard to that kind of thing).
I gave it 4* because of the bathroom area but also because the prices for drinks are astronomically high. They were really nice but I wouldn't be able to afford having more than two on a normal evening because of the price associated to them.

F. D.We went late afternoon after a tip from a lady at the Minster. We ordered a pizza, sweet potato wedges and the antipasti with chubbies to share. It was all really tasty and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful, the whole place really relaxed and warm. We'd definitely go back.

The food was fabulous and catered for a lot of different diets and the staff were very friendly and super efficient! Definitely recommend this for a birthday or special event venue 😊 x

Staff are lovely and although I dont think there is a dedicated children's menu, they made my little boy feel very welcome and made the best milkshake for him. Tasty pizzas and amazing salads. The freshly baked 'chubbies' are great! Looks like it would be great for dinner and cocktails too with a well stocked bar and good beer selection. Our new favourite weekend stop off!

A. E.Lovely little cocktail bar in Hull's old town. They serve real cocktails with real fruit, and real alcohol! Won't be your thing if you enjoy a jug at Yates's . Although we didn't have food, the menu looked enticing. The only plus would have been I'd there was more lounge style seating downstairs. There were big comfy armchairs by the window, but nowhere else to sit and relax. Otherwise, a fantastic experience x

T. S.This is Hull's most dedicated cocktail bar, offering thought provoking cocktails by people who know what they're doing. I like the fact there's more floors than you expect, giving you plenty of quiet spaces to find a seat and the choice of hip hop on the stereo was of great taste. The food complements the cocktails nicely, I recommend the chubbies.

b.Visited yesterday. Really liked the place. Hipster vibe. Well stocked bar. A good long cocktail list, real ones with fresh fruit and botanicals in, not pre mixed rubbish so many bars try and pass off as cocktails. Food menu all home made. We had soup and baked eggs. Very good. Want to go back to try the candle melted nduja sausage. Decor is hipster vibe with a mix of art. They have a good greeting, it’s a human being warm welcome together with a fast glass of water which Reminded me of New York. It’s bare floors and wooden furniture and my only thought was that the seats were uncomfortable for a long visit. This place is worth a visit to check it out.
