There is nothing like sitting in the sun in frount of this pub.
It's a old pub that's been there ages. And it's just as good as ever.
Really worth a visit! It's not over priced, the food is nice. The staff are really good.
Just go for a pint there.
5 stars!

Pre booked a table which it very advisable as it was busy when we arrived, shown to our table and was told you order at the bar
Went and ordered food and drinks, fish and chips and a Mexican burger
Staff were friendly, and prices very reasonable
Hand sanitising stations and gels positioned around the place
Food was excellent it does say table's for 2 hour's but we were there for 3 hour's

We were a table of 8 on a very busy Saturday tea time. The staff were all lovely. The food was hot and very tasty. I had the haddock fishcakes which were beautiful. If I were to give one negative point I would have loved more chips, they were perfect and I wanted more. First time eating there, certainly won't be our last.
A. M.
Absolutely fabulous. The fish batter was crispy, the white flakes of fish were delicious. Chips! Another level, cooked to perfection. The mushy peas tasty, and the tartare sauce outstanding! Helpful staff, great service, deserved the tip. Would recommend it for a great family meal anytime. We will be back, thank you.
S. H.
Spot on! Lovely pub, almost 200 years old. Great views of the pier and marina.
Beer was on point. Food was very good, served pretty quickly considering there were a few diners already. Reasonably priced.
T. F.
What a great place. I definitely would recommend. It’s a little gem in Hull. Easy to book online. The four of us had the Sunday roast, with pudding & coffee to finish. Staff were lovely. Husband was very impressed with the Tetleys & he’s a connoisseur 🤣 Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
J. M. F.
Always love this classic boozer. It has an iconic building and exceptional interior. Mahogany fittings and the smallest charming snug ever! Add on the best Fish and chips and great menu it's an absolute winner. Further bonus is it's wonderful view looking out over the Humber estuary
G. R.
Great location, beautiful setting overlooking the estuary. Delicious food at good prices. e.g. yummy battered haddock fillet in a rustic cob with home cooked chips, homemade tartare sauce etc, £9.95. The staff are lovely. Always worth a visit and definitely wise to book a table as it can fill up quickly at peak times!
You won't be disappointed.

J. W.
Visited yesterday and was not disappointed. Great food (scampi and chips for me, jacket potato for my sister and caesar salad for my daughter), we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were lovely and we were not left waiting ages for service.
N. M.
Great place for some drinks, with a lot of spirits on offer, sadly no cocktails. It was really busy and loud but to be expected on a Saturday afternoon. Didn't try the food but it looked great and others recommended it!
j. w.
Great food.
Good service.
P. S.
I recently visited the Minerva while staying overnight in Hull and have always been impressed with the quality of the food - I had the steak pie & veg which was excellent - my only complaint was that some of the younger members of staff - the men especially- need to realise that in the hospitality trade engaging with the customers is an essential element of the position and not just looking the part or consider that you're doing the customer a favour by just being there- I have worked in several pubs in my time so I do know what is involved when serving the general public- perhaps the staff selection committee should consider this when recruiting.

Haven't been in the Minerva for many years but visited today for the post funeral wake of a lifelong friend. Sat outside on lovely benches and tables. Incredible buffet..no exaggeration...fantastic selection of salad, meat, fish etc which put a smile on the faces of all. Good beer selection, friendly courteous staff. For the service provided today Minerva deserve 6 stars rather than 5.
G. G.
Small pub with a really nice, old world aesthetic. Good selection of ales. Food is good too. Place is great, but can get cramped at busy times.
B. A.
First time I've had lunch here and wasn't disappointed. Good selection on the menu and portion sizes more than ample. Staff warm and welcoming but, the thing I liked best is the feel of the place - very 'oldy worldy', a bit like being at Robin Hoods Bay but on the marina.
T. W.
Sat outside for lunch in the sun with a nice handpulled ale and a roast pork and stuffing sandwich. Both were equally delicious and the staff were spot on. A great location just out of the centre and close to the marina. Also handy to get to from The Deep and Humber Street.
C. R.
Family meal. i had Steak Pie and chips. Really full of flavour and great value for money. Great atmosphere in a nice old fashioned pub in Hull
S. D.
Went for tea, food excellent, service realky good. Enjoyable night. Would advise booking gets really busy
C. B.
Fantastic Pub, didn't eat but the food looked great Good beer choices as well and friendly staff.
K. E.
Excellent service Excellent food
J. U.
Great food, great staff in a nice location. Perfect for a summers day
R. J.
Great food & drink, let down by an untrained barmaid who didn't know the difference between a stout & an ipa. Pulling an amber ale & selling as a stout?
Oyster stout ok today so 1 extra star
S.
I had Lasagne with Chips and Side Salad and it was really nice and tasty. It was definitely the nicest meal I've ever had from a pub.
M.
Sunday lunch , we were very lucky .. you need to book for deffo . It is worth it !!
Excellent food and service .
Highly recommended
C. H.
Excellent beer and food . Love this pub . Friendly staff and pretty speedy service .
R. H.
I have just had to re appraise this pub after a visit. I think there may be new management or something. But one question. Why to 'Home Cooked Chips' have to be half cooked and taste of soil? Bring back the old pub!
Top classic pub, beer, food and a good location!
C. M.
Lovely pub, great location by the Humber. Entertaining staff and good beers
C. F.
First time ever been in the Minerva as went to watch the Flotilla for the Jubilee seems very clean and tidy nice staff
n.
Absolutely amazing food. Blown away how good it is. Nice atmosphere. Good drinks. Lovely place. Highly recommend a visit. We will be returning 👌
J. H.
First time we have tried this venue we eat out every Sunday in the first place we were seated on low stools with no back rest fine for a drink but if you are senior citizen may I add still horse riding 3 times a week not great if you are staying for a while .Well my husband made 2 meal choices which were printed not available Sunday's so he took a 3rd choice only to overhear some body order a not on Sunday meal and get it .to be fair the barmaid was great but said they had started preparing my husband's 3rd choice so we continued and were moved to better seats the food came was good hot and tasty no complaints and my husband breeds his own beef lamb and pork as a hobby in his retirement so we do know what a good meal tastes like yours jackie
N. C.
Fabulous food great service lovely setting and atmosphere reasonable prices too
T. C.
Fist time eating here today and would highly recommend, service and staff lovely, beautiful interior very cosy, food was absolutely delicious we had the steak pie, and happy to accommodate a vegan in our group. Tried the mulled wine and best I've tasted.. Definitely coming back. Thank you to all the staff.

What a gem of a pub. Have been coming up to Hull for a few years but this was our first visit to The Minerva having promised our self a visit before Covid scuppered our plans.
Beautifully presented spotlessly clean, full of history in a great location with superb views across The Humber.
Good range of drinks on offer. Oyster Stout was very tasty.
The menu is extensive, excellent VFM, catering very well for us vegetarians and pescatarians as well as the usual meaty dishes. Sunday lunch was hearty , tasty and very well cooked with fast and efficient service.
Friendly staff.
What's not to like, highly recommend.
S. S.
Great pub never fails to please. Food great for the price and lovely friendly staff.
Highly recommend.
T. C.
First time I have been here in a while. The prawn salad had loads of prawns, I felt like I needed more sauce. There steak pie is well known and well liked, but a bit to much for me today. I will have to start taking photos.
A. G.
Always enjoy a visit here. Lovely, old style, quaint boozer, just near the pier and waterfront, and a short walk from the marina and Fruitmarket. Food is very tasty and staff always helpful. Good choice of beers and spirits etc. Def recommend
J. M.
Super pub with excellent food. Had food a few times here. Recommend the haddock, veggie chilli and Halloumi burger - all delicious. My husband said the beer is good!
B. H.
Great home family cooked food and really good value for money
Lovely and welcoming staff
A. W.
What a great meal we've had today! It's about a year since we last managed a meal here and this time I had to go for Christine's famous steak pie and I certainly wasn't disappointed 😁 between us we also had fish & chips, fish cakes and a special fishcake starter and ALL were superb and cooked to perfection! Add in lovely staff and great beers it's got to be highly recommended 😊
S. G.
Lovely Sunday dinner, or other choices from menu. The lamb was really tasty and nice selection of veg, potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding.
L. B.
Great night celebrating with family and friends, great food and fab gin tasters board, could it be any better
D. H.
Great beer, lovely setting, pleasant customer service
S. R.
Very nice pub, friendly atmosphere. Lovely food and good portions, definitely try the fish basket!
D. T.
Had very reasonably priced seafood salad and service was good
C. R.
I love this pub. Fab atmosphere, brilliant old school decor and proper home cooked food like your Nan makes for Sunday dinner. Try the Hotham's gin, made locally in Hull, you won't regret it. In the summer there's nothing nicer than sitting outside this popular pub listening to the sounds of the Humber.
E. F.
food was amazing so tasty everybody's meal came out hot and really looked beautiful, I had chicken chorizo squewer and tasted great. my only criticism was the menu was limited
G. C.
Brilliant pub, great range of beers and gins, really good, quick service and the food is spot on.
P. B.
Great independent pub situated on the riverfront. Lots of outdoor tables and does great food 👍🏻

L. C. (.
Absolutely amazing as usual. Food is unbeatable at great value. Great selection of beer and ale and good atmosphere. One of our favourite places to eat in Hull.
We had our baby (9MO) with us and was pleasantly surprised to see a selection of spare nappies incase too. It's added little extras like this that really make it stand out. Great job guys!! Highly recommended pub.
P. W.
Wonderful steak pie, chips and gravy. I will be back
s. w.
Great food reasonably priced and good range of nice beers, very friendly and pleasant staff
S. B.
Lovely little old fashion "real" pub near Victoria Pier overlooking the Humber. Inside it has a real pub feel with pictures and decorations of Hull's history. Outside there a seating area with fantastic views of the Humber and The Deep subaqua rim.
J. L.
Very friendly staff, food was fab, beautiful place to go for a drink and food, definately go again.
K. A.
Great service and food was superb wel worth a visit
S. K.
Been going for 30 years and it's more of a gastro pub than a boozer these days but the fish and chips is as good as ever
H. H.
Lovely meal tonight. We had the oven baked haddock and the soup. Was really busy and we hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in and I'm so glad they did. Thank you so much.
S. F.
Went as a family for my birthday, had meals, mostly good.
But
I went for the Sunday lunch which was supposed to be good. NOT
Beef was cold and quite chewy, they reheated along with cold mash, roasties we're so ineaemic, tasteless.
Wasn't given the opportunity to change 😢
I Think as it was 2.30 we were last in and it showed.
Staff were polite and friendly, as a pub a nice place.
My husband steak pie was delicious, so I'd return if only for that.
A. S.
Lovely meal, great staff, really friendly.
E. M.
Quaint old traditional pub, dating back to 1800's, on the edge of the Humber. Great ale at very reasonable prices compared to other pubs in town. Food is exceptional. Will definitely be making more trips there. You will NOT be disappointed.
S. B.
Food is fab! Shame about the bar! Not a drinker so wasn't bothered too much, seems the bar area could have been in a bigger space. Party of 15 seated right at the back so away from the normal rowdy crowds. £9.45 for a large burger and chips, drinks around £2.10 for a large coke.
A. M.
Nice Fish and chips. Great outside area overlooking the river.
M. M.
This is your traditional pub grub. Simple, and fairly priced. I had the meat pie with gravy and chips, and for what I paid, I was very impressed. I would definitely visit again
C. W.
A very well maintained 19th century pub, located on the river front. The staff are very friendly and they serve a wide range of real ale beers and special gins. There is a good choice of food on the menu.
S. S.
Very nice food, hot and served quickly, it was the location of the table that was a problem, and it lowered the experience to unpleasant. Our table for two was right next to the bar, as the policy is to order food and drink at the bar we we constantly knocked by people getting by or standing at the wrong place at the bar to order. It was a busy day and it felt like we were in Hull Interchange during rush hour eating our lunch. It's a shame the dining experience let it down.
N. P.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, well-kept beers and professional staff. Perfect .
A. S.
Good pub with friendly staff, decent sized function room.
G. N. E.
Lovely warm friendly pub.... very pleasant staff.... food looks good but didn't eat on this occasion. Views of the River Humber ... a must visit !!!!
C. M.
Excellent old fashioned pub with great food. Position fab aswell, on waterside.
A. W.
Perfect in everyday food was delicious the steak pie was absolutely amazing would definitely recommend eating here.
The staff were attentive and social distancing was in place masks worn by staff.
A lovely experience overall and looking forward to my next visit
m. W.
Always busy, fabulous quaint pub, food basic, but excellent and very very tasty. Big portions too
A. P.
The fish and chips are quite good, they do a homemade tartar sauce which is quite chunky, the chips were good, everything was really hot.
What let it down for me a little was the awkward seating, sat close to other guests, tables are low for the bench seats and you’re stooped over which was uncomfortable, it has a cramped feeling. The sandwiches they do are average/dated.
R. W.
Love this old atmospheric out. The food is dood honest fare. Folk singers on Sunday tea time are fab
N. G.
Visited with my daughter.
Was welcomed by a very polite host & shown to our seats.
First impression was of a lovely local establishment which put us both at ease straight away. The food was delicious, so good to have great homemade chips instead of the normal frozen. I would highly recommend the Minerva and will definitely visit again..
D. Q.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. BEAUTIFUL steak pie and chips, spot on. Perfect for our reunion of team MURT.
A. B.
Well organised bar staff, even though it was busy the wait was minimal which is all you can ask for when you're gasping for a pint
R. G.

As always, we love coming here. Great place to sit and catch up with friends, with a drink or 2 and there's a great choice of food.
N. H.
The Minerva. A really nice pub on the edge of the river Humber (estuary). Very pleasant and helpful staff. 1 Malibu and coke. 1 gin sling. 1 bottle of innes and gunn. 1 pint of Thatcher 's cider.
L. H.
Oldie worldly type pup with the smallest pub room in Britain and plentiful outside seating on water front
L. P.
Spent a lovely few hours here today after my sons graduation ..absolutely fantastic meals..freshly cooked ..(steak pie was awesome).good menu..reasonable prices..good service..friendly staff..definitely come here again to try something else on the menu

Historic pub on the river Humber. Fantastic outside area with stunning views. Great range of gins. Cute little snug. Worth booking if you want a table inside. The menu is rather basic.

Being a local bloke, you sort of grow up knowing about The Minerva. Great pub, great food, great atmosphere. Seems to attract all different types of people and that's part of the charm. Find yourself a little spot, get a pint of one of the many beers and end up singing sea shanties with a group of strangers. Happy days!
P. C.
As a Hull citizen - the Minerva's Fish and Chips is one of the best in the city! Right on the old ferry port, beautiful views of the river. And now - in the centre of the up-and-coming fruit market, which is an absolutely lovely place, adjacent to the marina.
J. S.
Lovely rustic pub, well decorated and maintained. Lost some of the rover views outside due to recent building works.
Excellent food and drink, reasonably priced for the atmosphere and quality.
Will definitely be coming back.
C. A.
Had a lovely lunch in cosy, Christmas surroundings while storm Arwen did it's worst in East Yorkshire... Good example of a traditional ale pub in an interesting location with complimentary good quality and value grub...
B. H.
Hated where we were sat, opposite the toilets and people streaming in and out of them the whole of our visit. This table requires moving you don't feel part of the pub atmosphere. Absolutely fantastic choices on the menu but portion sizes were a bit mean
K. R.
Cannot fault this beautiful establishment.
Service, seriously from The greeting to Bar & Waitressing Staff is very impressive & very rare these days.Food is so tasty & beautifully presented.Minerva has a lovely warm welcoming feel to it & it hasn't changed over the many visits I've made. I try to go as often as I possibly can & recommend it to all my colleagus, friends & family.Try it.You will never be dissapointed.
J. B.
Lovely fresh food and plenty. Husband had the meat pie andvu had the cajun chicken salad. They do a lovely fruity cider on tap. Good quick service from order to table. Would like to their Sunday roast one day.
M. C.
Great evening. We were stopping in hull and looked for something local to the hotel. Food and service was fantastic. Really cared about your safety and well being.
P. S.
Battled the wind to get to the Minerva for lunch yesterday and it was so worth it. Warm and cosy atmosphere. Food very reasonably priced and I'd recommend our choices of the Butcher's and Mexican burgers. The beer was in top condition (Ringwood 49er). A well-deserved 5 stars.
S. B.
Really nice laid back environment. Friendly staff and really good food!
J. P.

A one off lovely place.A must for tourist even if to see the smallest pub room in England . Great food too Which can be eaten outside or inside, But in summer outside best with views over the river and passing ships. Staff are awesome.
t. c.
One of my favourite pubs in Hull.
This place drips with history and gravatas. The food is good the beer is good and I recommend you pay a visit here.
Sat outside and imagined all the finishing boats going along the humber to the deap sea fleet in the 20s and 30s.
I really recommend you may a trip here for a drink.
S. B.
Amazing pub! A real time capsule, beautifully preserved from the Victorian period, great selection of real ales and very good food. Well worth a visit😁
P. W.

One of the best pubs in Hull... We had a ploughman's lunch, was certainly worth the money.. The staff helped me because I'm still app disabled even after all this.. Just fantastic
M. C.
Great beer and a lovely day to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air! Shame about the flood defence works, several parts of the fish trail not accessible currently.

Great food, and good atmosphere
M. B.
A proper pub done well, excellent selection of drinks, decent mix of craft beers, lots of good hand pulls and great destination for gin lovers. The food too is notable, done to a decent (pub) standard. Well situated but out of town. Worth the walk.
J. W.
Lovely meal good atmosphere and service
G. M.
Great pub . Plenty of real character.
K. B.
It's a friendly well established pub with better than the usual pub grub. Staff are always happy to help. The views across the river are lovely on a nice day. There's outside seating too if you fancy al fresco.

J. H.
Great food and good service me and my family really enjoyed it.
H. W.
Good atmosphere although was very busy over bank holiday. Managed to book a table but had people constantly walking past. Great food and drink options though. Perfect for us coming from the marina over. I know my parents go regularly for the brilliant food at a great price. Would go again, maybe when its a bit quieter!
D. S.
Went for a meal with the family here last Thursday. Place was packed when I arrived and stayed busy throughout. Good choice of real ales at decent prices and, to my joy, doesn't serve Red Bull! Great menu to choose from- I had the 'Chip Shop basket'. Very good and a huge portion for less than £9. I would recommend booking in advance if going at peak times.
G. H.
Ancient pub. Good food, nice friendly staff. Reasonable food prices.
E. S.
Atmosphere brilliant staff amazing, good choice of ales and food.
a. t.
My company had our Christmas party here and it was a very good night, the food was very good and the staff were helpful a d courteous. Prices were average for the town (good selection of gins available) Overall a good night. Easy to get to if not a little exposed (wrap up warm) to the elements but it was winter.
A. P.
Beautiful pub. Amazing food, good selection of drinks and good prices. The smell of fish chips drives me mad every time I walk past. It's well worth a visit. Maybe call them for bookings if you're unsure of if they're busy or not.
M. P.
Great traditional pub in a fantastic location. Great food, too!
A. S.
Lovely old pub on the marina area in Hull. Said to be haunted which adds to the ambience.
The food was quickly brought to us by young ladies who were outstanding because it was packed. The girls were friendly and couldn't help enough.
It was a Sunday and the roast dinner was fantsstic.
Well worth a visit and I live here now.
M. W.
I went with family a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. Staff where really accommodating and polite.
I opted for an 'FLT' (fish lettuce and tomato) sandwich which caught my eye and it was spot on with a great portion size. Definitely left full.
My only downside if I had to pick was time limitations on the table and having to leave a reserved sign out for the next shuttle but wasnt warranting knocking a star down for what made up in a overall great experience. Would go again!
P. D.
Great location overlooking the river and marina. Beer is always good. Fish and chips, tray baked meat pie, fishcakes etc are excellent. Really characterful pub.
P.
Great pub, you can tell how good it is by the fact is was absolutely packed full at 1230 on a Saturday. Staff were friendly and the beer was excellent. Beer garden would be great in summer but was a little cold in February
L. A.
Great food and beer, lovely outdoor seating for a nice day. Friendly bar staff
M. S.

A. H.

S. r.
Lovely food and a great place to sit and have a drink, great staff lovely atmosphere
D. O.
Plenty to choose from in this bustling pub. Intricate indoor eating areas make it great to sit in whichever setting you prefer. Overlooking the river, and a great sunset view. Bar staff are friendly and accommodating and the food selection is great! Recommend the fish and chips with homemade chips and homemade tartare sauce. Nice place to have a meal, and a happy atmosphere for eating, chilling or drinks.
M. C.
Only stopped for a drink but lovely setting, easy to use app, great service and friendly staff.
Will be back soon to sample the food.
M. K.
We had a good pub meal here with friends. Staff were friendly and there was a good selection of beers from the area. The outside beer garden is gonna be popular in summer as it offers nice views across the Humber. It is a bit out of city center but once the bridge id built over dual carriageway it will be much easier to get to.
D. S.
Nice old place on the waterfront. Free WiFi. A few interesting tap choices.
S. J.
The Minerva always chooses its beer selection wisely and the food is generally very good. Worth a visit!
C. O.
Lovely pub by the estuary, great food too. Beer a bit pricey, but lots of outdoor space, and a great atmosphere, and child friendly.
P. R.
Ale selection was nice. Went for one drink but had a couple more to make sure. I saw the smallest pub room which was very cosy. Very good place to visit.
ADDITION : Glass is no longer used outside. If you like a pint in a glass, then you can only drink inside. Outside you can only drink out of a plastic vessel. I spoke with the manager who informed me that the local authority has instructed this ruling. Either way, still a marvellous place.

Outstanding pub on the waterfront in Hull.
This unspoilt survivor of Hull's days as a major port serves a good range of beers and traditional pub food. Its tiny rooms are often crammed but it's worth finding a corner to soak up the atmosphere. On summer days you can sit outside and admire the view.
L. D.
Best streak pie ever! Great service too. First time in Hull and would definitely visit this pub again.
C. A.
Nice and chilled on a Friday night
I. H.
Food was good unfortunately there is a lot of building work going on outside at the moment so fealt like we were dining on site...
D. M.
Fantastic pub. Great selection of well kept beers, and great food as well. Full of character and history, and home to the smallest pub room in Britain. Very popular so can be busy. If you are after a Sunday lunch, book your table in advance.
j. q.
Good food, quick service.
A. G.
Nice place, lovely staff, Great all round really 👍
A. P.
Lovely, cosy atmosphere. Stopped to have a hot drink after a nice walk and was 'drawn in' by the good choice of food. Food arrived fast and fresh and was delicious. Reasonably price too! Will definitely be returning.
S. G.
Lovely pub. Lots of small rooms to go off and sit down in. Recommend booking a table.....we were lucky and got one but there were lots of reserved tables.
Soup was gorgeous.....home made and really filling. Chips were also really really tasty. Would defo go again.
Also liked the fact there was no music playing.......
C. Z.
I had a meal and drinks with friends. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Will definitely visit again
C. C.
Food is nice and staff are nice it's an average pub in a nice location
R. E.
This place gets very busy on a Sunday. We found that out when we walked in and found that there was a 45 minute wait on food orders (I guess it is good that they warned you). We took an empty table but were told that it was booked for half an hour later so it would be needed before our food was served. We shuffled off outside to finish our drinks wondering what to do next. 10 minutes later the lady came out, found us and offered us a table that had come free. Excellent. Nice Lunch
K. F.
Apsolotly a great place food, drinks and staff. Glad to be from Hull.
w. w.
This pub is in a great location. Right on the Riverside.
Service was good and the food was of good standard. Card payment was accepted here. A fair range of ales too.
Staff were polite.
Would recommend a visit.
G. C.
What a fantastic place on the marina.
Lovely food, huge portion, very decent price. I could barely finish my plate...
The kids' menu is great too and we all felt well fed when we left.
I would definitely recommend, even for families.
P. S.
One a dog friendly place now geared towards food. Plenty of seating outside if you're passing with a pooch.
C. W.
great, reasonably priced food for kids and adults with a good range of choices, as well as a good selection of beers and spirits. seating inside and outside with a great old pub feel. free lemon-flavoured water the day I was there!
H. M. N.
Very...Very good, brilliant experience last night, price range and the quality of the drinks is amazing. Staff members are very lovely and polite... Could do with some heating inside but overall I would recommend this pub to anyone!
S. C.
Popped today, fabulous food had the fish pie, best ever, staff was wonderful, can't wait to go back and tackle the battered fish
V. R.
Excellent selection of beer in the fridge. Smaller selection of keg and cask beers. Food menu looks good. Salads were well presented and tasty - more than just a few lettuce leaves. Would return.
D. S.
As always great drinks and great food in a lovely setting and atmosphere
N. S.
A cool little pub on the banks of the river. Serves a variety of alcohol in a cosy pub atmosphere. Food selection is limited and leans towards the local fish that is caught, but everything that we ate was delicious! Highly recommend the "fish basket" which involved battered haddock, battered spam fritter, fish cake and homemade chips. Seriously good.
Check it out, especially after visiting "The Deep".
J. H.
Food was very good, a standard pub food menu with some individual items added. Service was good and staff were very patient for our table of 12. Everything is very reasonably priced.
Only thing is that it's maybe in need of some redecorating and some new menus printed that aren't falling apart.
S. T. N.
A really nice and relaxed placed with antic furniture in a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and service minded staff. Good food for an good price. Alot of different drinks to choose from. Recommendable.👍
W. D.
Booked a table for 9 and preordered the food. We were served on time within a few minutes of getting there. They gave us very large portions and the food was really great i had the lasagna very nice plenty of cheese and mince meat in eat. Wiped the plate clean felt like a pig for finishing such a large portion
P. T.
Staff so friendly and attentive and food amazing. Great choice of real ales.
J. H.
Love this pub, friendly staff and great home cooked food.
A. Q. D.
It was just brilliant I only had onion rings and chips and they were exquisite! The one problem we had was that we came and they hadn't changed our group from 3 to 5 people so we had to wait a while to get a table but the staff where kind enough to seat us at a staff table and to be fair we did change the group only a few hours before but other than that it was great
M.
Service was Great and Place was very Nice and cozy. Good selection of beers. However, we were not all impressed with the food. The meat tasted really cheap and then like it came very fine minced from can. We were only visiting Hull city for one day but will definitely not go back here for food.
D. B.
Best pub in Hull for a pint and a meal, and a lovely location on the marina and river front. Very varied menu, the fish and chips or homemade pie are particularly recommended. Always a good selection of beers.
S. T.
Love this place. Proper pub. Great on both a cold wintry day all cosy against the elements and on a sunny day sat outside overlooking the estuary. Not enough pubs like this left these days.
L. H.
Very nice oldie worldly pub on the marina. Very nice home cooked food and traditional ales available. Gets very busy when any sea shanty events are on. Nice and cosy and especially in winter had a coal fire which made it very cosy and homely. Lovely staff, always talkative and very friendly.

Finally a Saturday afternoon out of the house and out for some good food and a pint.
Lockdown seemed never ending but me and the Mrs finally managed to get out and about together last weekend, and by chance we found we could pop in to a favourite place of ours for a bite to eat.
The doorman on the Minerva last Saturday afternoon was very welcoming, explained the procedures in place due to the current health pandemic and showed us in to a table near the main bar area.
I was asked to fill out a covid form which just required name, email and telephone, this was just in case of any cases, i could be contacted.
Service as usual was brilliant, the lady popped over a menu etc and we ordered from the bar. As it was lunch we both opted for a sarnie with chips. New rules mean only 1 person from your table at the bar to cut down groups and gatherings due to the virus.
Food took around 15 min to come and as expected was very tasty, i absolutely love the rustic chips.
For anyone unsure on going due to the current situation, all of the staff inside the Minerva where wearing PPE, hand sanitiser was available on entry, tables where more than 2 metres apart and overall it was a great spot of lunch and was much needed after lockdown.
A. B.
We went to The Minerva after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed.... The 'famous' Steak Pie was fabulous with lovely fresh vegetables and served with mashed potatoes. Arrived 20mins before end of service so thought quality might dip a bit but we were wrong lovely food, great portion size.
A. H.
Lovely place. Fab choice of beers and drinks. Food is brill! Tasty. Some staff are not as cheerful as would like... always busy but still would like a smile here n there! Love the place
L. R.
Had a lovely lunch there yesterday. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was good, it was immaculately clean and they followed the Covid rules properly. Hope to go again soon
C. W.
Simply the best steak pie in town. Big juicy wedge of perfect shortcrust pastry stuffed with tender lean stewing steak. Tasty mashed pots and traditional veg with lashings of super gravy. Wonderful!!!
C. S.
Service good, didn't eat there as it was too crowded. Food looked good though.
T. M.

Good presentation
Taste good
Very disappointed at portion of steak pie
Very small compared to previous visitsnot good value this time
h. s.
Best steak pie ,nice and clean definitely going back
P. E.
Lovely place for a few afternoon drinks. Would have been better if the weather would have deep dexter so as to have been able to enjoy the views but we can't blame the Minera for that. Excellent afternoon
S. M.
Out with work colleagues this evening, good old fashioned pub, and wonderful food
G. P.
Had a great time in the Minerva last Saturday with my Mum who’s in a wheelchair and my family. The staff were extremely helpful getting my Mum in and out with the wheelchair. The food was superb. Rachel and Steph behind the bar were absolutely fantastic and so helpful with fantastic smiles and a brilliant sense of humour.
Kind regards
Gary
K. T.
Very nice pub, lots of little rooms to sit and have a drink. Good selection of ales, ciders, and spirits. Loads of different gin. Large outdoor seating area right on the marina
P. L.
We came here for a last minute fish and chips supper. The fish and chips was fresh and tasty. I would happily eat here again
A. R.
Excellent. Friendly team, contactless ordering and payment and really good food. Plenty of outside seating too.
R. H.
Food was tasty, well priced, and brought to the table in a reasonable time, also staff were friendly
C. w.
We are big fans of 'Christine ' s steak pie' and e were not disappointed again today. Excellent as usual. We had to wait awhile to get veg as soft as we like it cooked, but it was worth it.
P. B.
This is my favourite pub in Hull. The drink selection is brilliant (however they do not provide cocktails), the food is some of the best pub food I have ever had. It's all hand made - and to top it all off.. The pub has some board games for free! You can just pick one up and play while you are waiting for food! Highly Recommended =)
M. G.
Inviting atmosphere, good location, nice to take beers outside and sit looking across the river, on a clear night you can see across to the other side, and it looks beautiful all lit up on a night. Very relaxing pub with decent prices.
T.
Great food, cheerful staff, didn't sample the beer as I was driving but a decent selection for most tastes... Chairs in the old brewery bit were a little uncomfortable but nothing to really complain about...
Worth a visit.
Z. P.
Lovely food and friendly atmosphere 👍🏻
D. J. S.
Love The Minerva - alas their seating capacity was reduced thanks to flooding prevention works but still good all the same. Well organised.
A. W.
Great range of craft beers. Food is su verb recommend fish and chips using local caught haddock. Warm friendly staff and the smallest pub room in England.
L. P.
Busy little pub. Staff are lovely and big menu to choose from. Real ale's and lots of gin's. Food is gorgeous and huge portions. Definitely eat there again!
B. R.
Great pub, good location. Excellent food Inc main meals and sandwiches.
Outdoor seating.
Covid precautions in place.
H. C.
Excellent pub, nice food and a good selection of beers and ciders. Very busy but the staff are friendly, quick and efficient. Easy to recommend.
K. A.
Have been coming here for years. Great quality pub food. Can tell is homemade! Big portions, but value for money. Staff are always very friendly. Best pub in Hull!
P. H.
Popped in for a pint, friendly staff, good service, nice pint, however no carling or Stella on offer.
I. T.
Old fashioned style pub right on the river banks. Seating inside is in the form of lots of small rooms, annexes just off the main bar area. There is also some seating outside. Good range of drinks and reasonably priced.
L. D.
Visited Minerva on Saturday had the homemade meat pie with chips and veg. The pie was beautiful and nice chips, however the veg was rock hard. I know veg is suppose to be al dente but this was ridiculous, both myself and my partner left ours. We did mention it to the manager and was offered a free drink but we had already bought some, no offer of a partial refund. Really bad fly problem aswell, I know it cant be helped in hot weather, but other customers had complained about it too as it was that bad, it was not just the odd 1 or 2 that you expect there was dozens of them, again we also pointed this out
My partner will not return, I however will as I thought the pie was lovely. He is a chef and thinks that they should have dealt with the situation better and not left unhappy with our experience
G. H.
Perfect pub. Good food, but not too restauranty or too high throughput. Great beer selection. Cosy snug corners to sit in, a couple of fireplaces and a long bar with... and this is important... sufficient good quality staff so you don't wait too long. As pubs go, this hits a sweetspot. Oh, and there's outside seating which is wonderful on a hot summer day. I try to visit this place whenever I'm in Hull.
M. M.
Excellent staff and service. Scotch eggs are great, as is their beer.
J. M. F.
I LOVE this pub! It's history, beautiful fittings, staff, beer and fish and chips! So much more on the menu too. I never miss it when I come to Hull. Which I also love!
J. G.
Had a wonderful walk down the marina and went for lunch, hubby had a special of salmon a few chopped potatoes, and salad more salad than salmon too much not enough salmon at £10,and mine was a Ham salad ,roast ham as described in menu came with 3 slices of plastic ham!!not roast!!
and enormous bag of mixed salad.
A quick apology, money back for my salad and goodbye, too busy flirting with the younger customers, and if your reading this please, wash your HANDS after handling the cat !
S. C.
Good value quality food with a broad selection of beer.
H. P.
Lovely old fashioned pub with friendly staff. Had a great lunch there with my dad today. Great food, good price, we really enjoyed it
N. H.
Nice to stop for a pint and anice meal
C. A.
I am disappointed with the fact that we had to change our order twice due to not having the item avail. However, the bangers and mash (my 3rd choice) was on point! And the fish & chips wasn't bad either!
s. b.
Absolutely great!! Brilliant food good portions best battered fish, good value for money optional to sit out doors. Been a few times food is always good.
A. B.
Good, sensibly priced, food and drink.
Hospitable staff and pleasant atmosphere.
p. e.
Lovely British grub, good service. Nice local feel, good selection of ales.
S. N.
Excellent selection, good prices, friendly service. Was the first time I've been back in over 25 years and glad I made the detour.
P. B.
Wonderful historic pub with amazing views over the Humber estuary. Friendly staff, serving excellent cask beers and good quality food served in generous portions. What more could you want?
J. C.
A lovely pub.
The only downside was we were put in a very noisy room and not a lot of atmosphere unfortunately.
T. T.
Had the steak pie & it was gorgeous! Would Defoe be going back but wouldn't want to sit in the snug again. It was very small only for 2 people really & there was 3 of us & it was just so cold!
B. J.
Cheerful pub with pub grub and friendly staff
G. T.
The Minerva has had my vote for the best fish and chips in Hull for decades and I was able to confirm this again a few days ago. Delicious and hot with a rich home made tartare sauce. The service was very attentive and friendly and this is a pub which has lost none of its atmosphere with a fine range of beers and gins. Anyone visiting Hull should try the delights of the Humber St area and dine here.
D. P.
This atmospheric and historic pub welcomed us in with delicious, locally brewed ale from the friendly bar staff. We sat in a tiny snug for a quiet chat, and when an accordion struck up 'Black Velvet Band' and 'Wild Rover' we joined the rest of the pub in song. An evening to remember.
L. R.
We booked Minerva as a group of 12 for food.
The food is very good quality with generous portions. All appeared to to freshly made. Really good value for money. Located in a pleasant area.
L. W.
Lovely place to sit and have a meal or drink. Service brilliant.
J. E.
Great atmosphere, lovely food and drink
D. C.
A great pub with cask ales and really good food, steak pie was great. Placed alongside the Hull Marina, a good start or finish to the Ale Trail. Lyon and Key over the road with again many cask ales. Enjoy.
S. C.
Lovely home cooked fresh food, very friendly staff and good service a good range of beers, wines and spirits.
M. L.
A must for all visitors and locals. Food excellent, good alternating beers. Great Staff. Historic maritime pub. Houses the smallest snug.Steep steps up to it.
N. M.
Never disappointed with the Minerva. The staff are friendly and approachable and really make you feel welcome. There is always a good selection of real ales as well as the usual suspects. The food is awesome and I've not experienced a bad meal in all the time I have been going
A.
Nice location, good selection of beers and excellent food.
D.
Classic pub with a nice selection of drinks. Good atmosphere, nice décor and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again when I'm back up this way for work.
S. J.
Lovely setting. Bit pricey
S. S.
Very charming pub/restaurant with delicious traditional food and friendly staff. Would definitely go again.
D. B.
Fantastic historic pub with friendly staff and a good beer choice. The beer garden on the banks of the humber is incredible with some of the best views in the city, a must visit for a pint.
W. H.
Absolutely lovely best fish and chips had in a very long time plus lovely staff ☺️
R. N. G.
Always a decent pint , foods good and friendly staff 😋
G. H.
Feel like it's gone down hill lately with the food.
Also made a booking three months before Christmas for Christmas eve in the front room with fire with my family after panto to find out on the night that they had reserved it for someone else at short notice. We also rang the day before to confirm the booking and they said everything was ok but on the night they said it wasnt in the book but had a table reseved down the stairsand not enough chairs !!!!!?😠😠😠
D. P.
Fantastic place. Good beers, great location and friendly staff. Wonderful folk music on Sunday nights. Locals friendly and welcoming. Prime marina location.
R. S.
Charging 10 Bob to pay with debit card is derisery. Nice pub lovely atmosphere great staff.
Get the card thing sorted 5 stars. There's a beautiful blonde haired lady looks after tables super welcoming and friendly.
J. W.
Fantastic food at good prices. Friendly staff with good knowledge of the guest beers. Special shout out to the lovely hand wash and moisturiser in the ladies toilets.
A. F.
Waited outside ages at the table for some one to serve us..it was s nice pint of lager though..
D. K.
Brilliant homemade steak pie. Not sure the beer was quite up to scratch on Sunday evening.
L. S.
It's been a while since I'd have food made so nicely in a pub.
J. G.
Friendly and helpful staff had a cracking Sunday lunch I shall be back! Definitely recommend.
L. W.
The Minerva pub dates from the 1820s and provides and a great range of drinks and excellent meals. The views of the River Humber foreshore are wonderful and there is outdoor seating to enjoy them when the weather's fine. There are 5 separate rooms (including the smallest in Britain) so there's a cosy atmosphere. Live folk music on Sundays starting 5pm.
N. C.
Cheap and cheerful. Too much food on too small a plate with soggy chips. Tasty fish cakes
S. H.
Great traditional pub. Good staff and lots of outdoor seating
J. D.
Not sure about this place. Ale and gin selection is good during festival season but the food choices are seriously limited and the proprietors need to choose if they want to be a sports pub, a drinking pub, a live music venue or a food pub. At the moment it feels like they are trying to be a bit of each and not really excelling in any area.
The decor could do with an update but it's a typical British 'stuck in the past' pub if you like that sort of thing.
P. B.
Really nice place when the sun shines and you can sit outside, but when the weather is bad it gets a bit too cosy in the pub. Great range of beers and spirits, especially Gin, and great, fast efficient service
E. R. (.
I ordered the home made steak pie with mash potato cauli, carrots, broccoli and gravy. The meal was beautiful apart from the lack of gravy !! It barely covered the pie and the mash and veg were left dry. When I asked for more gravy I received a gravy boat with a little drop in the bottom. I would love to have eaten the mash potato but the lack of gravy spoilt it. Don't be so tight with the gravy Minerva
D. C.
Great food ad drink sit inside or out friendly staff good vivid measures with a one way system 😎
S. C.
Nice place but pricy. A couple of halves cost over £6. One was a craft half but still way over the odds. Good view......of the ceiling once you come round after fainting over your bar bill :(
K.
Lovely cosy pub with quick service. Wide selection of drinks, good choice on the menu and very nice food. Been before and will visit again 😊
M. G. B.
As great as I remember it - need to go back to check out meals - beer was excellent and atmosphere/location/decor perfect. Loved our short but sweet visit.
C. D.
We have been going to this pub for years. Great pub, great selection of beers, but the staff just need sorting. Pretty poor service (bad attitude & slow) compared to the pubs and bars around the area, especially Humber Street.
J. G.
Great food and lovely service
M. “. B.
Really nice old pub. Great selection of beer and food. Good little atmosphere and lots of history on the walls
P. H.
Good food, and friendly and helpful staff. I judge a pub on the standards of the toilets, sounds daft, but if they are clean it tells me the rest of the pub is likely to be clean; that had clean toilets.
G. c.
Really good pub. Great range of beers and good food. Lovely friendly staff. Well worth a visit with views across the Humber
김.
Nice beer, nice food!
J. M.
Good food Good Beer Good atmosphere Great staff
D. W.
Had a lovely meal
Staff very helpful 👍
S. P.
Cracking afternoon sta outside. Small beer van outside, save you having to venture inside with the covid19. Food was absolutely spot on! All homemade and fresh!
R. w.
It's nice and friendly yes food may be cooked on the premises but it is booked you after a stint in the microwave which makes it not as nice such a shame when they don't use a microwave to warm it again I will go back but is a nice place
M. B.
Historic pub. Great food. Nice pint.
T. B.
Excellent pub grub food for good prices. Would certainly recommend it. Does get very busy though so you may need to book.
G. R.
Amazing food and lovely staff, the beer garden is the best spot in Hull during the summer!
K. M.
Friendly staff
Gorgeous food
Good price
Clean environment
A. P.
Recently visited this place with my gf and they have the most delicious food and well worth the money! If you get fish and chips, you won't be disappointed.
J. K.
Great local cosy pub, we love the service, drinks and the foods hard to beat the steak pie apparently takes some beating
R. M.
Despite a large Minerva Brewery sign and a brew house bar, they don't actually brew any of their own beer. Nevertheless, a good range and very historical/old fashioned pub.
T.
Such a lovely place by the river with loads of seats inside and outside.
d. d.
Nice little pub, plenty of drinks choices for Ales ciders and gin, food looked and smelt nice. Definitely worth a try.
P. S.
Lovely home cooked food in a great atmosphere. Highly recommend however worthwhile booking a table as it can be busy.

P. C.
Food always good. Addicted to Christine's steak pie. Staff welcoming. Lovely place to eat, meet and be comfy
D. H.
Great old pub with open fires and excellent food. The staff are always very cheerful and friendly and has some of the best views from the windows anywhere in the City.
B. R.
The food is excellent, service is good. And the selection of beers exceptional. And Charlotte is most pleasant, helpful & nothing is to much trouble for her or her staff.
S.
A great old pub not far from The Deep in Hull. Fantastic food and selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits. You won't go wrong visiting here
D. C.
I love Minerva. Great food and drink.
I'd give it 5 stars but it's often very busy and it's a little bit on the pricy side.
C. D.
Used to love this quaint pub. On the waters edge next to the River Humber on the Marina. Great food and drink selection especially gin. Just let down by the smell and disrepair
D. H.
Excellent real pub. Great honest pub food, the steak pie is to die for. Real friendly staff. Can't praise it enough.
J. B.
Really nice place to go for a drink. Didn't try the food but heard many good things about it .
T. S.
Excellent, love it. We always visit when in Kingston from Derby, food good, very busy, love it. Outside nxt to Humber if sun out. I'm OAP and getting younger every day - thanks Minerva

Good pub ,nice beers and food, try the homemade steak pie,all good ,lots of regulars here, they do a tasting gin "tray",a selection of flavoured gins with "fevertree" tonic for about£6 ,Good pub.
S. J.
A lovely pub with a friendly feel to it with a large selwction of craft ales wones and spirits .. we did not eat there but plenty of people did and what we saw looked quite nice ..
C. A.
The service was great with a friendly greeting when we entered the bar, the Foo was a little passe, the medium rribeye was rare almost blue in the centre, not what you would expect from a self confessed steak restaurant
j. b.
My friend and I had lunch at Minerva today. We had the smoke haddock with hollandaise sauce , porched egg and potatoes .It was very nice perfectly cooked.A brilliant pub with very friendly and helpful staff.
S. D.
Lovely food. Nice place to eat . Busy pub but cope with customers. Would definately recommend a visit.
J. D.
Cracking real ale pub. Slightly off the beaten track, but does tend to get busy at the weekend. Large outdoor sitting area, although it's not sheltered so can get exposed to the wind.
G. D.
Good selection of beers and spirits, efficient knowledgeable bar staff and good reasonably priced food. Does get very busy at peak times.
s. h.
Great food and drinks, a lovely traditional gem of a pub in the marina area of Hull. The staff are very helpfull, maybe try a beer in the smallest pub room ever!! If you can....Enjoy its great
M.
Great place to stop for a nice setting and pint of something .
Also It's on't way t'deep
R. B.
Brilliant staff, good choice in drinks , love the atmosphere , been able to sit outside and look out to the Humber , has real nice vibe to it , such a good pub
A. W.
Put in to Hull Marina for two nights en-route between Southampton and Inverness. The crew made three visits to the Minerva, including an excellent dinner on a Friday night. Really impressed by every aspect of the place.
L. M.
Great outside space when the sun is out. Nice pub with great choice of drinks. However the service is always really slow.
C. C.
Great service, food and atmosphere. Thank you.
G. W.
Great beer and great beer. Good service too.
R. O.
Hello very popular outside with the lovely lovely views of the Humber and the people friendly enough but the area where the whole drop littering cigarette ends and stuff is not cleaned up enough otherwise it's not bad and the tables should l otherwise it's not bad and the tables should be regularly otherwise not too bad if you like sitting in saggy bits of paper and cigarette ends otherwise the food is good inside friendly staff

What's not to like about one of the older pubs in town, even better with Warsteiner on tap.

Great place, atmosphere and food 10/10.

Great pub with fantastic food and drink. Ask the staff about "Dead Bod" and buy a shirt. It's not as sinister as it sounds and proceeds go to a great local charity.

Very good pub with a cracking selection of food. A not out of the way, and we found parking a bit of an issue, due to ambiguous signage. But definitely going back.

To me Minerva is what it is. Nothing really wrong with it if it's your taste. Seeing a sign on a table saying reserved from 19:30 FFS obviously sat there at 15:00,but others may not.
