J. W.Overall a positive experience. Pub tables can be quite cramped. Beer selection is excellent and the staff were friendly. The food I was less crazy about. They're going for this 'over the top' American burger menu and it's just remarkably over indulgent. There's hardly anything 'normal' on the menu. I'm an American and I just found it to be too much of a shtick. Plus all the copyright infringement... They're lucky to not be sued.

A.Fantastic, been in today with my son, who has visited before, great enthusiasm from the barman. Got the DFC burger by mistake but ate it without any 2nd thoughts because it looked so good. My son had the dill pickle burger and he loved his too..

C. B.We visited here for a couple of drinks, having first visited about 2 months ago with friends. We like the beers, and the staff were friendly. Being in the hospitality trade ourselves, we didn't like the sausage rolls being on the bar counter, just covered with a dome, not chilled or individually wrapped and fruit sliced into dishes sitting also on the bar counter,but totally uncovered! Food hygiene appeared to be lacking here, right in front of house.What about behind the scenes ??
J. M.Great pub with excellent staff who are always happy to help. As with all places now gin is the big thing.. last time I was in I asked Rob about getting a better standard of vodka in as it was a choice of Smirnoff or favoured stuff. As long as you're back I'll get you some in was his reply. True to his word he did exactly that. That is what I call good customer service, building relationships with people and trying to improve their experience. Simply can't fault it. Best pub and best kept secret in Hull. Sshhhh.

S. R.I attended a retirement party, the buffet that was laid on was "bloody lovely". Staff were polite and the atmostphere relaxed. On the downside, there is only 1 loo, but when the pub was built, ladies didn't go out in those days. On the whole, I enjoyed it 😁

Z. W.The pub itself is in a beautiful building, with a truly impressive bar. The service could’ve been better as for drinks you had to order them from the servers (who were sometimes hard to flag down and we ended up waiting a long time to get our drinks a few times - even though we’ve seen they were ready at the bar…) while the food was ordered from a website. Wait time for food was ridiculously long - we waited over 75min and other tables were also unhappy with the wait. Not sure if they had lots of takeaway orders as it didn’t seem too busy inside. And considering this was fast food - it’s just unacceptable to be waiting this long for burgers. When it arrived, the food was nice but not sure if worth the wait. Good selection of vegan options. It’s probably a good takeaway option but I wouldn’t recommend eating in based on the wait time and service.

A. H.I visited this establishment during a "peak" time ie The Euro Semi Finals were. This was a booking only venue at the time but the staff were very accomodating and found me a table in a heartbeat even when they were busy. A lovely historic ublic house, lots of history⁴.

L. C.Stunningly beautiful food , we popped in for one of this amazing pubs ales and a try of the food...... it was simply outstanding. We shared the mountain Kenyan burger ( hope we’ve got that right) and the most delicious spiced fries with herbs and spring onions.... we’ll be back next week for more 10 out of 10

c.We had the DFC on Katsu Fries and they were amazing! Would definitely order again. Good craft beer range too. Only issue was the wait for food was over an hour and nobody ever told us how long it would be.

U. B.Great heritage pub with period features. So many different types of beer - cask and keg - ranging from proper English golds and bitters to more craft leaning hazy pales, sours and ice cream milkshake stouts. Plus a load of Belgian stock which you don't find very often.
Good spirit selection and classic cocktails. Huge beer garden, pool table, shuffleboard, board games. The staff really know their stuff and the music is great.
A real find - why can't all pubs be like this?

With 5 handpulled ales, and 11 keg lines wasn't surprised, or disappointed!
Shuffle board, pool, and darts out the back, and shows larger sporting fixtures.
Good music, and a great vibe.
