Just what you expect from a Wetherspoons Great prices and pub grub if you are hungry and don't want to break the bank I have heard people critiscise the food but you get what you pay for....not haute cuisine but great for the price Only been open for three months since being converted to a Wetherspoons And you don't have to be a student either To access go down Salmon Grove (West) As in photo with Yoshi the Border Terrier right to the end and turn right as in second photo Go straight on and it's only a couple of minutes walk you will see it as in photo 3 Access it through the students Union entrance as in photo 4 next to the Wetherspoons sales sign Parking is not easy though There are Two hour parking places on Cottingham road (West bound)available Then just walk down Ferens Avenue and left into Salmon Grove It's nice to have a Wetherspoons only a 25 minute walk from where we live....☺️👍

I really like the place. It's great! I attended with friends on a Tuesday day and naturally that meant it was quiet... Perhaps too quiet, there could have been some music playing, that might have helped but I didn't notice if there was a sound system in place. The bar staff were quick and polite. Our empty glasses were regularly taken away. It's nice to see staff still making the effort despite it being quiet. There's loads of room and seating in doors and out. I like the booths. Pints of Coors and Guinness were less than £3! I questioned what year it was!

I was a mature student at the University of Hull in 1998 and the experience was tremendous. Likewise my wife and I have become great fans of Wetherspoons all around the country since this time, our never ceasing to be amazed what a great 'leveller' the Wetherspoons experience has been for us. Visiting Wetherspòons Sanctuary proved to be enriching and very nostalgic. Many thanks!

Seems like they’re massively understaffed. We decided to get a couple of drinks before leaving the place and had to wait for 1.5 hours…Got a refund though. Food was really nice and didn’t take that long (about 30 minutes)

This is a great place to eat when visiting my daughter at university as it's on campus. Great prices and nice food.

Inside the main student union facility at Hull Uni. There are large indoor and outdoor seating areas. You can order through the app on your phone and it's delivered to your table. We didn't have to wait very long at all but there were very few others in. The range of food was good and also came in different portion sizes so would suit all appetites and budgets. All ten of our party enjoyed there food. Staff were efficient and friendly although they did take quite a while to clear played away. Parking is available in various areas near by but may be less spaces during the day and at term times.

Not your conventional Wetherspoons, as what you have here is the company taking over the running of the main student union bar. Non students are welcome, if you find yourself at the heart of the campus. No fancy signage or entrance, the Sanctuary is accessed by a normal set of plain double doors within the building, which has a SPAR by the main entrance. Standard JDW prices and food menus, but lacking the usual selection of real ales. Not so standard sports on tv’s, music, pool tables, and a hugely much younger clientele.

Like every student Union, really cheap beer. Great after an exam and food is of amazing quality and also quite cheap. Always something going on in the evening like karaoke, great way to meet people. The pool tables are of great quality. Can't wait to go back. Big tables for big groups

Good place to chill after receiving your grades Good mix of beers, Cider ,food is usual pub food. What we've had has been tasty, service not rushed, but didn't take to long still on our 1st drinks when it arrived. Tough market since local pubs have offers on, just as good beer and food and slightly better atmosphere, but Sanctuary is on your doorstep good place to meet then move on or stay!!

The staff there were lovely and very professional. Made light conversation when collecting empty glasses from each table, and didn't stand around talking to people they know. Drinks were also made very professionally

Sanctuary (displayed as Sanc.) is one of the places available to Hull University students to relax and unwind - providing pub food during the day and becoming a bar during the night. The food is adequate, it is quite the gamble whether your meal will come on time but it is good value for the price and any issues the employees are very kind and helpful to fix your issue. Drinks are relatively expensive here for a Uni bar - a standard pint is about £3 and a bottle of cider breaks near £5. Cocktails, while small in variety, are made very well and are my recommended go to for drinks here. But what this place does right is Thursdays - Karaoke. The place will be packed and it is just a glorious time hearing people sing dreadfully but having fun doing so.

It's been a bit frustrating that the kitchen has been closed a few times when I've been with course mates over the past few weeks. Could do with staying open a bit later too. The music is way too loud for me to talk to my friends. I have hearing issues and none of us know BSL so we usually end up leaving and getting food and drinks elsewhere. It's meant to be inclusive but if you have sensory or hearing issues just don't bother going after 5pm. Disabled people are generally pumpkins anyways and we don't exactly exist unless we're used for clout. Shame really, as it's the most accessible place in the uni (other than the library)
