C. B.Ye olde black boy is one of my favourite real ale pub in hull. I went in recently and was pleasantly surprised to see it had a new owner and the bar area i was in had a makeover. At the bar the super real ales were still there, but some of the modern ipa's and ciders were there for those who prefer.
The management were keen and pleasant and the place was busy. I would highly recommend a visit to this historic old town pub on high st, but do check the opening hours and they aren't as regular as all day and every day.

K. F.Excellent range of beer in a fatastically maintained pub, the original interior adds to the atmosphere. If you are in and around Hull for the city of culture you could visit far worse places for a beer than this. Can't recommend highly enough - this should be on everyone's list when wondering round the old town. It's just the corner if your visiting Zebedees yard and way better than the warm, overpriced beer they serve at gigs!!

M. K.Fabulous history. What an amazing place. The atmosphere of the building takes you right back to the 18th century. Once settled at your table staff are friendly and attentive. We felt very at home and had a lovely evening on our weekend away in Hull.

P. M.Gorgeous little pub with a nice range of drinks and loads of character. However, there is a pervasive odour of toilet cakes which makes it very uncomfortable to sit and drink in. Maybe if you got seats upstairs you'd enjoy it (closed for a private function when I visited)

P. G.Great pub, small and quirky with a small but cosy roof terrace space. Well known as the most haunted public house in Hull. Has a really quaint feel and includes lots of classic decor and design within its interior. Has not been ruined by the modernisation of most of the surrounding pubs.
M. L.If you want atmosphere, history and a friendly welcome, this is the place to visit. The "snug" as I termed it, had a roaring real fire with panelled walls and original (?) glass panes ..... I could have been transported back a couple of hundred years or so. Just fabulous.

s. c.No visit to Hull is complete without a visit here, in the heart of old city's dockland. There are a number of ancient photos to the memory of slavery-this is done respectfully-the staff are warm friendly and Ted Hughes and Philip Larkin used to sup in here. 10/10 food also awesome try the pies.
