A really great family pub. Nice menu with a wide variety of delicious food and drink. We had a Father's day/birthday meal and everyone enjoyed their choice of dinner. The waitresses were courteous, friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit or two.

It is about time we made our impressions known about our view of The Crown. It has been our habit to meet with friends once a fortnight, - all things permitting - for a few years now. We have a favourite table and from entering the premises we are made very welcome. The food is excellent and the salads are particularly fresh and appetizing. And the staff, many now so familiar to us, make our visit a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Thanks to one and all.

Went for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised, the choice of food was good and very reasonably priced. The quality of food was good and rivals other surrounding breakfast establishments 👀. We came in as a family for a meal last Saturday the night before our wedding. Jasmine and the team were absolutely exceptional. What a super big breakfast here this morning Friday 2 sausages 3 glorious rashers back bacon 2 sunny side up eggs, 3 hash browns tomatoe mushrooms and toast 😋 incredible value. It was a busy time but did not have to long to wait. Very attentive staff. Definitely go back.

Food was okay and garden nice. However empty plates were left on the tables for a good 40 mins after we had finished with no attempt to tidy them away by the staff. We even asked one of the waitresses to take them away as we wanted to order desert, but she nodded smiled and simply disappeared. Decided to have desert at home instead. Also worth noting that the pub garden even says no dogs unless they are guide dogs!!! In the current day and age, this is ridiculous and needs to be updated.

Had a lovely visit to Claydon to see my son. The Crown was oposite our hotel and was our meeting place for two days and nights. 5 of us are breakfast and evening meals. Food was great value for money and delicious and the service was fab. Every staff member was happy to help and friendly. Landlord was very chatty and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back on our next visit 😊 thanks for having us ☺️

I've heard that hungry horse pubs were supposed to be good,so went here for a meal on 28/8/22 and it was just average mixed grill was ok ,but the wife's fish and chips weren't very nice at all and the cola tasted as if it had been watered down you tasted more water than u could coke.some people might say diffrent but this was our personal opinion.....in your reply you asked me to email you to discuss this further and guess what 3 days later I've had no response from you (which I didn't think I would)so much for customer satisfaction.

Plenty of parking. Often busy so best to book for a Sunday lunch. Look out for offers BOGOF etc. Reasonable prices and food is good quality.

The Christmas Dinner mix up thing was OK but none amazing. I would have preferred a normal more traditional Christmas dinner which I would have thought would have been available and if it was it wasn't well adventised. Also my son went for the pizza which he didn't like. The starter was onion rings which seemed a little soggy. Was not too impressed that visit, the staff very friendly and did give us all Christmas crackers which they didn't have to do.

Busy pub lots of food offers. Thursday night free pudding night you may struggle to get in so book ahead. Nice staff and food is as advertised and friendly place. Family friendly. Go outside of mealtimes if you want a quiet drink.

Good food at good prices but please its a Hungry Horse Greene King family pub so it's not your locally grown & farm food selection , but as a family pub it's great , the only negative for us was the smokers stood right at the door so we could smell the smoke where we were sat inside and its not appealing seeing smokers stood at the door as you enter with the family, please move the smokers or have staff aware of the issue to politely ask them to move

We visited here yesterday, 15/03 for the first time since moving to Great Blakenham with our boys after football training. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who quickly found us a table for 5, cleaned it down and checked we were ok. Using the app our food and drinks arrived very quickly despite it clearly being very busy. All the staff were friendly, helpful and polite and to me this is one of the reasons why it is always busy. The food was served hot, was extremely good value for money and I would recommend anyone to go there for either food or just a drink. The atmosphere was nice and for a pub to be this busy on a Tuesday evening says it all. I would imagine that many bars wish they had this many customers on a Tuesday if they are even open on a weeknight!! We will be back. Thank you for your service. Mike MS-Racing

I went for Breakfast last Sunday with my three sons and we were impressed with everything. The staff were friendly, the decor was good, the actual breakfast was HUGE and tasty and the staff were very kind in letting two of my sons box up their leftovers (their eyes were too big for their tummies). Wow what a meal! I move to the area nearly 2 years ago and due to Covid and everything else wrong with the world this is only the second time I've been able to visit the Crown. The whole night was excellent, we booked earlier in the day to reserve a table and we're promptly seated upon arrival. Every member of staff that we had any form of contact with was super happy and friendly. To a point my 3 year old daughter was mentioning it! Apologies for not getting the names of the staff, but there was one lady with pink pastel hair (I think) who when placing my Very Berry Burger down acknowledged my daughters reaction of 'Wow!' and struck up a little chat with her stating how colourful it was. By the way that burger with the vimto sauce was amazing! With such a huge chunk of Camembert to. And then another lady who cleared the table got chatting with the children saying how well they done at eating the ammount of food they did. Things like this go a long way as my son (2 Y/O) has autism and these interactions really go a long way! Overall a great experience, food was brought to the table really quick. The children's meals where great sizes portion wise and great value, My Daughters cheese burger was immense and she stated it was the best burger ever! My son finished his sausages quicker than I've ever seen him eat. My partner had a mixed grill where the steak was cooked as she wanted it, and the gammon was great! I had the very, Berry, vimto burger thingy. I can't remember the exact name, but that was an explosion of flavours! The only thing I wish could be made different! And this is important! The ability to pay gratitude by card or via the app! (I normally order via the app so my son isnt left sitting around getting loud etc) Next time I'll have to bring cash just to make sure! Unless I can pay by card!

Came for lunch today, with a friend, and we both said what a lovely plate of food we each had. Service was quick, efficient, a change to my meal, after I requested it for dietary purposes, was no problem at all and food arrived hot and plentiful. Your prices are so reasonable for the standard you provided today, was a really enjoyable experience. Thank you. One slight problem I found, the ladies loo ... seats are very low for elderly or mobility impaired ladies, needed a grab rail to get down and get up again really. My friend thought she might have to come and help. I realise there is a disabled loo but never felt the need to use one of them before. Perhaps you could consider a grab rail for the future.

The family and I had a day at the zoo and definitely worked up an appetite. We found this restaurant by chance and as fans of hungry horse menus anyway, we normally go in with a rough idea. Naturally, it was fully booked but they had space in the beer garden. The customer service was wonderful here, the staff were friendly and extrmely helpful. The facilities were spot on and social distancing is being adhered to very well so we felt secure where we were. Prices are normally reasonable but we had the eat out to help out as well so even better!! The food was spot on, all of us completely full and enjoyed the evening. Highly highly recommend this restaurant and was the perfect end to our family day out. Thank you.

I used to stop here two or three evenings a week for dinner after leaving off work. Even with its 'open plan bar and dining area, I found it cosy. There's a vast array of food on the menu and it's all good. Prices that won't break the bank either. A good range of beers and polite, professional staff (talkative when not busy). Been here a few times with friends and family. Food has always tasted great and there has been a large selection. Go up to bar to order and pay. When my sister-in-law- ordered a vegan dish that they ended up not having, they gave her a more expensive vegan dish for no extra charge. Never had dessert but the main menus are tasty and cheap.

Eat out here regularly as our teenage daughter is vegetarian and she likes the options here. Food is always great, fast and friendly service. Tables are cleaned quickly, clean toilets. There is an outside eating area which is nice, we ate outside a lot last summer.

Lovely food and some really good deals, for instance Fridays are buy one get one free on burgers. Staff are friendly and polite and very accommodating, we received excellent customer service. Had my nan with us in a wheel chair, there was easy access and no issues getting to our table. All round lovely meal and experience, would definitely recommend.

This Hungry Horse was amazing and really good value. We came here for drinks and to eat numerous times while we were away on a long weekend. Drinks are really cheap, food is good value - had an amazing steak here. Staff were very friendly and helpful too. It gets very busy so you may need to book. There is a nice outside area which I imagine is great in the Summer.

This is a friendly and professionally run restaurant. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The vast selection of meals on offer caters for most tastes. Large carpark with some disabled bays near the entrance. Being a full time wheelchair user it is very important to ensure that the tables are of such a height to accommodate me and my chair, room under the table so that my knees don't hit a wooden supporting bar. The Crown meets this requirement well and when booking a table on line I can specify the table number I'd like. There is one point that sadly they fail to address. Over the past few months the only disabled accessible toilet has been faulty. The door will not lock or stay closed. Although this has been reported to the management a few times it was still inoperative yesterday. The provision to provide an appropriate adapted toilet is a legal requirement but sadly this establishment is failing in this respect. I will not be enjoying a meal there again until this rectified. Over the next week I will ascertain if it has been fixed and if not then I shal be sending my report to the department covering the equality act.

The decor refresh is definitely an improvement and the food is good & portions generous. But there's still the same nasty old stained carpet on the upper level and the service is s.... l... o... w.... Big queues at the bar and 30 minutes to put ice cream in a bowl. Also very very stuffy.

Freindly staff. Was disappointed in meal firstly yes they were busy but no excuse to serve cold food. Complained they then redone was fresh not microwaved. As chips were better than first lot too. Once we finished the chef came to speak to us. We said yes was better second time round.

The staff here are really friendly and helpful. We were a party of seven and most of the food tasted lovely. The starters were out of this world. The only thing we had an issue with was my main. I ordered the ribs and they were mostly sinewy and fatty. I hate complaining but I was really struggling to find an appetite for it, and although I felt awful I did mention it to the staff and they were so kind and helpful and I cannot fault them with the way they handled it. Exceptional service and no one went hungry and all in all we all had a superb meal and a great time. We will be returning soon.

Christmas Day lunch at the Crown for 8 people including 2 children, absolutely superb experience. Despite advising of a 30 minute delay in arriving due to inept taxi company, table ready, nicely decorated including crackers and food arrived promptly. Meal was superbly cooked, huge portions, service extremely swift and efficient, staff all good humoured and friendly despite being very busy. Excellent value and overall experience, thanks especially to Jazz who had taken note of and organised a few minor special requests. Fruit crumble and custard was particularly good! We will be back next Christmas and regularly throughout the year. Very well done to all.

The staff here are absolutely amazing! Very friendly, patient and extremely helpful. Many thanks to the chef and his/her team who we never see, but who I'd like to congratulate (along with the bar and restaurant staff) for all their hard work and understanding every time we visit. Modifying the menu a little bit to suit my daughter's tastebuds as well as 'mums' is never an issue. We cannot thank you enough! The pub has recently been refurbished which is lovely, but it has seen an end to the children's attractions unfortunately. The rest room facilities are always very clean and tidy. The Claydon Crown is a lovely place to visit for families and individuals alike. We love the relaxed atmosphere and professional act of care you give each time we come. Thank you!

First visit since the refurbishment, the décor is great and the furnishings are first class too. Had gammon steak with the trimmings and scampi and chips for my wife. The portion sizes are good and the food was of a high level. Would highly recommend the crown to anyone.

What else is there - it was very busy post Grand National, but we found a table (lots of tables had 'reserved' on them, but they also had the time on them so we could have sat there until the people turned up). It's local to us and the food is good and reasonably priced. Only one complaint after refurb we have TV's for sport but also music. If you want a quiet conversation you have no chance. I am hard of hearing and my husband has to speak really loudly for me to hear him over the competition. My hearing aids pick up all the background sounds so conversation is impossible.

Affordable nice meals and friendly efficient staff. If you are one of those so called 'gourmets' who tries to impress by eating at "gastro" restaurants, this is not for you - you actually get a full plate of food which is well cooked. I normally go at close to their 11am opening time (weekdays - 10am weekends) so it is fairly quiet but always pleasant. Just had one of the best steaks I've had in the UK! And an 8oz steak chips & veg for £5 - great value. (they have a "Steak Monday" every week, with 8oz steak meal for a fiver and 12oz St nuteak meal for £7.50!) Whilst you can order food at the bar, they've recently added an app for your phone so you can order straight from your table which is really handy. Whilst they say you can wait up to 15mins for your order, I have always received mine well within this time. The app is a work in progress but is pretty reliable and being improved all the time. The app is also available at another Greene King Hungry Horse pub, the Farmhouse in Kesgrave, where it works equally well. If I have one complaint, it is a couple of expensive vehicles that park in the disabled bays with no disabled blue badges being shown. I was told they were 'management' vehicles which doesn't show much respect for their patrons! Otherwise I happily endorse the Crown and have no problem in recommending it! UPDATE: 18th November 2019 Gas problems seem sorted - just had an 8oz steak & veg for £5 - delicious! UPDATE: 17th November 2019 Suggest you call them before visiting as it appears they have no gas to cook with! I was told they were hoping for gas by 11am but as I was told the same on the Tuesday 12th, I would check first!

This is in the Hungry Horse group, and in my opinion is one of the better ones. It may be one of the smaller ones the staff make one of the better ones. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, honestly answering most enquiries. The tables are cleaned as regularly as possible, and the overall pub/ restaurant very clean including the outside areas and toilets. Being a Hungry Horse there is a large menu and at the time of our visit there was a full menu with quite a few extra items on boards.

Still can't complain for the price but if hungry horse farm house can do amazing food at the same price with good quality food why can't the crown .to top it off the place was full of old soaks where every secound word was c you next tuesday . Service is good if you don't mind going to the bar to order. They have live music and quiz nights occasionally.

Went for a meal as a birthday treat and to see how the reburbishments looked. Been loads of times before and had always been popular with the boys. However was a bit disappointed to be honest. We had a couple of serloin steaks a rump and cod meals. Cod was fine. Medium rump ok but a bit chewy. Sirloins were supposed to be medium to well done but both were over done, dry and v v chewy. As for the refurbishments new paint, wallpaper and carpetsand tvs mainly. New menu as well which may just be an excuse to put prices up cos it was a lot more expensive than previous visits. Not sure I could recommend it based on our visit.
