Very delicious pub food. Good menu to choose from and very reasonably priced. They also have play ground for kids. So everyone in family enjoyed even little one and a dog! Highly recommended.

GREENE KING, PLEASE TAKE NOTE! You should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm a local, and this evening I went with four girl friends for an evening out and meal. You simply cannot rely on 4 members of staff to run such a big and busy pub like the Golf on a Friday night. The 2 ladies behind the bar just couldn't keep up, they were doing their best, but they needed more help. People were queuing for drinks for considerable amounts of time, and the wait for food was an hour! 2 bar staff and 2 in the kitchen. Glasses were piled up on the bar to be washed. Its not fair on your staff putting pressure on them like this. People suffer from stress and anxiety working in these conditions. Sort yourselves out.This pub has so much potential .

This really is a classic case of the perfect pub, perfectly run, for its location and local community. Starting at one end with food, space, tables, seating and Ipswich's best pub garden and outdoor area for us oldies ... it is at the other end a vertical venue with pool and big screens for the younger .. Or sit halfway between the two and get best of both worlds. Wether you want pints, coffee or a top quality £250 meal for 12 this is utterly judged perfectly. It is inherently as covid safe as possible due to spread out layout - but without killing the mood. I'm sure it will be a great venue to watch the 2022 world cup too. It's also loved by town fans and busy particularly for food if anything is on at the nearby speedway.

We went casually to this place as our car broke in front of it. Sorry for the car but peased for the place. Wish I had gone there before. The service is a typical pub service, but you feel welcome and you get served great food. Congratulation tho waiting and kitchen staff for the hard work keeping a pleasant and welcoming environment.

It's a beautiful place which has a big green garden and you can eat whatever you want which is on the menu. Also, it has a playground for children so that not only adults, but also children can enjoy too! To finish, waiters are way too kind!

Really tasty food there. I had a really good roast, with lamb, and nicely cooked veg. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate fudge cake though, probably because I work in kitchens and I know how they're made. I doesn't mean it wasn't good. But I like my chocolate cakes made with melted chocolate and not with chocolate powder. But I'm just being a bit fussy. My fiancé had a great burger. Drinks were very nice. Very clean pub/restaurant. Very nicely decorated (posh country style), and the back garden is great, especially for families and their children. We will be back probably with my family to eat great English food.

I go here most times my bike is in the shop across the road. The staff are really friendly. I normally get a sandwich and drink deal and the sandwiches are really nice. They also have a massive garden area with a small play area for children. Update, still great!

Not the best Green King experience. Nice large historic buliding with large reasonable sized garden out back. With several large TV screens this is obviously a sports friendly environment. Staff were friendly although not Waring face masks😷 at a time when C-19 numbers are rising fast. -1 🌟 Food was overcooked not the same quality as our own local GK -1 🌟 Not sure if the venue operates as a hotel as despite searches no information was available. It was 👌not sure we will be visiting again soon generally it was all so, so and almost empty when we arrived Sunday🌃 early evening.

Being a hop along with an elbow crutch for a while I have to advise anyone in a similar position to try to get there a bit earlier if you need to park your car. The car park was full so needed to find a parking place on a nearby road. It's been 18 months since I was here last but on entering the atmosphere was even better than I remember.Lots of people chatting,eating and just having a good time. Seating was excellent and instant for your reservation,service was super friendly and phone ordering really quick and easy using their app.Drinks service to your table,no waiting around trying to get yourself seen by the barman. Food was excellent and hot.Outside I could see plenty of seating for the better weather. It's a no brainer for me if I want to sit comfortably for a meal but book early as they are busy!

First time at the Golf Hotel. Decided to call in as lockdown restrictions lifted. Sat in garden, went to order was then told have to order everything via app. Didn't have app on phone so then had to load etc then work out how to order etc. Drinks arrived so glad app worked, food arrived but it was cold and not its best, waitress did come over and ask and we did say the food was cold etc., she said she would tell chef. Not sure if we will go again. Have noticed other Greene King pubs are letting you order drinks and food the old fashion way not being forced to do it via an app. Sorry its not the best review.

Tbh it a just the cold weather. Apart from that the food was lovely and the steak cooked the way I asked. The take service and ordering through the app was great, well organised, plus the drinks were or at the take really quickly. It's the first time I've been to your pub but if certainly come again.

Had my daughters baby shower Here today, the staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating for the whole afternoon. food was lovely, staff arranged for us to have a little private area and put up some decorations. Nothing was to much trouble. Thank you for helping make today special.

Not very clean, the person in the counter seemed to be very confused and struggling to find the item we were ordering (not only one, but all the orders!), nachos were just a random throwing of everything in a bowl. But the sizzling salmon that I ordered was grilled to perfection, absolute beauty. My wife's fajita was good as well. Overall, food is not too bad, but needs a bit work on cleanliness.

For the market it is aimed at it does the job perfectly. It is clean well laid out and friendly. It has a large garden for the summer months and food is good wholesome stuff. Typical of mass production stuff well presented. The place has reasonable parking and is wheelchair friendly. Good coverage of screens for sport. Well worth a visit

This was such a nice place to eat. Had a lovely pub type turkey christmas roast. The three stars are because my companion had a steak meal which was very poor, although the extremely nice and friendly waitresses did their best at damage limitation. Looking forward to going again and especially in the summer when I will be able to sit outside in their lovely big garden.

I have a 6 year old and would say the children's meal was small, ok for her but would not fill a child over 8. We left a bit earlier than planned as it was Champions League final night and the OA system was way too loud. Also got very busy. Overall I would recommend

Friendly staff and great place but unfortunately when ordering was told they had first run out of fish and chips then when ordered burger told that they run out of rolls and would put burger in bread (Not the same). It was a sad occasion that brought us to 'The Golf' it was my husbands wake. I am so glad The Golf was our choice,it was amazing,the food was excellent,and our guests were able to reminisce together in a warm comfortable atmosphere. A heart warming sending off for my wonderful husband.

It is my local pub, it was really good but there is currently no manager, limited staff and the staff that are there are worked to the bone, the food is still ok but takes a long time to come out, the place looks a little shabby in places and is in need of a makeover, it's sad how the place has gone down hill. The only reason for the 3 stars is that the staff do their best but you will be waiting at the bar for a minimum of 10 minutes to get served

This is a nice pub with delicious Food. There is parking on site but it can get busy some days. I really enjoy the lamb shank here and the steak and ale pie. I go every week after baby sensory so have my infant son with me who is breastfed and have felt completely comfortable feeding him while here.

Often visit here for a bite to eat, good wholesome food reasonable priced and usually no issues to report, until today. Ordered 4 drinks then browsed the menu. 2x chicken and mushroom Pies served with mash and season vegetables, Classic burger and usual fries and Mac and Cheese with Garlic bread and side salad. Waiting time for food seemed fine, but unfortunately one of the pies was still cold in the middle, hence only 3 stars today I am afraid! Not usually one to complain but on this occasion bought it to staff's attention, immediately she apologised and suggested a replacement. Staff visited table to check all was ok with other meals, apologised again. After a about 10 minutes minutes wait she again returned apologising again and informed me it would be a few minutes longer. Despite the issue, staff member did all the right things, and with a smile, despite it appearing that staffing levels may have been an issue today. Thereby making me feel I hadn't been a nuisance. Sadly this is not always the case at some places if there is a need to complain. We will return as despite this issue today we have always found the food of a good standard.

The food is decent. The scampi is lovely. What really makes thid place shine is the service, all of the waiters are very friendly and will have a little chat with you. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Not expensive and is a great place to go for lunch.

After the recent refurb this is now a cracking pub. It has a great garden to sit out in the sun - and some good equipment for the kids. The menu is also very good (and very very reasonably priced ). There is a separate room with big screen and pool table for sports fans - and lots of tvs scattered around for those pretending not to watch the game :-) There is also a cracking pub quiz on Thursday nights which is very good and a slight twist on the usual pub quiz.

Food was very disappointing the burger was so dry and my salmon was swimming in sweet chilly sauce it made the noodles soggy the sharing platter was about the only enjoyable thing even tho half of it was burnt and my son literally had a Chicago town pizza with beans and chips. How ever the garden is lovely and the decor looks fab it's just not a good pub for food so we will not be eating here again however would. Stop in for a drink.

Decent food. Got 1 of our tables order wrong but they compensated. Could do with some refurbishment but it's fine for a basic, low cost pub grub. Personally I'd say not a place for specials occasions.
