Lovely people serving delicious beers of all nature. Breathtaking views of behinds behind the bar and frontal views also. An electrician often turns his hands to help serve beers and offer priceless advice on condition and characteristics of ales & the like. Quirly, quaint and quite quantifying quality all round.
Your round!

Brilliant pub, great choices of beers and entertaining landlord. Anyone who likes ales must visit this pub. Nice and cosy.

Fab range of beers all served in a lovely old building crammed with personality- as is the jovial landlord. He also brews a lovely pint of Amber ale.

Feels like the inhabitants of an Austrian haunted house from the 1800s decided that haunting was rather a dull affair and set up a pub in Ipswich instead. Gothic pub for people who like real ale and cobwebs rather than Stella and crisps.

Seems to be on the up again with a bigger range of beers now available Had a very good dark beer from Wales Some of the language can be a little strong

Good variety of beers and ciders, but very quiet. Quite suited for local drinkers, or those owning their own tankards (who get a 20p discount for bringing their own glass). The decoration inside is gloomy and old pub style, and the place smells of the wood panelling which adorns the walls. Bar staff friendly enough though and can't complain!
S. B.
Brilliant pub with a great range of ales, friendly staff and a good range of decor 😁 pub does lots of events including quizzes and comedy upstairs. Always welcome

This is a proper spit and sawdust drinkers pub. Great selection of real ales. Does a good deal for Ipswich Town fans offering a pie and pint on a match day for £5
Look out for the taxidermy bat's on the walls. Lots of interest on the walls to view.

Visiting from Derby, I had an hour to kill. I wish I'd had a week to spare. The staff are great, beer fabulous and English traditional, no juke box, no pool table, a wide selection of old and fascinating books on wooden shelves.
I could go on for ages about a blissful hour I spent here.

This really is a hidden gem, a pub that has beer supplied by a local brewery.
Many different ales available.
Great beer.
Most of all a terric atmosphere.
Well worth a visit.

The one of only few pubs around Ipswich for good premium ale , also if you have a girlfriend who prefers foreign lagers? They have them also with rare ciders .Also music for all ages .Dark Surroundings but above all a Great place. ...

Great pub with friendly landlord and staff, good selection of real ale. Funny quiz night every other Sunday. You can even take in your take away to enjoy with a pint!

Great little pub. Old school, wooden boarded, and great service. Lots of ales and speciality ciders on offer. But lagers, and spirits also available, at very reasonable prices. Cash only!

(Translated) I found the place and decor very classic. typical. If there's a place that feels like a pub, this is it. You can even smell beer when you enter.

Achei o lugar e a decoração bem clássica. Típica. Se tem um lugar que pareça um pub, este é lugar. Até se sente cheiro de cerveja quando se entra.
