Reviews of The Beagle
K. H.
The food at The Beagle has improved. The Sunday roast is delicious and generously portioned. You can ask for amendments to your vegetables or anything on the dish, if you need to. They do try their best to accommodate the changes/dietary requirements. There is an onsite free car park. The Beagle pub restaurant is quaintly decorated and has an outdoor seating area too. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Looks lovely from the outside. Nice sitting area, a lot of greenery. However, tables haven't been cleaned. We had drinks, mains and desert. Staff forgot about our deserts. So after 30min we went to ask for it ourselves. No one asked if we have enjoyed our food. Which I haven't. I am not heavy eater but my main was more like a starter. Usually I am full after main. I have been waiting for a desert with a passion as I have still been hungry. Even if it was dish of the day, it was plain, tasteless, lack of feta cheese. Desert has been lovely. For the price I have paid and food I have received, I would not go back. 3 starts only because of the surrounding. Other then that it would be less..

Had the calamari, roast beef and white chocolate tart. From starter to dessert I enjoyed every mouthful. The kitchen staff clearly know what they are doing. The calamari was the delicious and a decent portion size, I only wish there was more because it tasted so good! The roast beef and gravy tasted divine, the meat melted in my mouth and the gravy was rich and the perfect thickness. As for dessert, the white chocolate tart tasted like heaven in my mouth, there was a lovely balance of sweetness and tang. Staff are welcoming and friendly and service was quick. Highly recommend.

Great food and lovely staff. Often go for meeting friends there brilliant place and easy to park

Finally made it out of bed on time to try the brunch and was not disappointed
. Quite possibly the best cooked breakfast I have ever had! ***Edit 15th August 2022*** Just been again today and the meat feast pizza was top notch and Tab was an excellent new addition to the already professional and friendly staff.

Our Server Tabs, was incredible, she was welcoming, patient and made us laugh. She was really attentive and knowledgeable on anything we had questions about - she is a real asset to The Beagle! The drinks were served swiftly and the order was spot on! The food came out in really good time and hot - it also tasted amazing! The location feels like you could be in the middle of nowhere as it's gardens are quiet and secluded with plenty of seating outside, the pub itself was clean, tidy and had a real relaxed atmosphere - We loved all of it!

I’ve been on the beagle Numerous times over the last 11/12 years and on this occasion the service was great. We were shown our table which was perfect and just as I’d asked in the booking. Our server, Beth then brought over colouring menus for the children and pencils. She asked us if we wanted drinks straight away then gave us some time to choose our food. Cannot fault the service and the food was lovely. It was my husband’s first time here for his birthday today, and he was very impressed!

Lovely pub next to the Premier inn we stayed in. Staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Only thing holding back the 5th star was the dessert wasn’t made on site!
D. F.
The welcome on arrival was very friendly and pleasant. We were looked after well. The food was typical pub food but saying this it was very tasty and plentiful. It also nice and hot and well presented. Pricing I felt for this type of food was a little overpriced to others of the same type of restaurant.
K. c.
Beautiful pub, has a lovely atmosphere and feel to the place staff really friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely return

We were staying at the Premier Inn, which has no restaurant attached.
This was our first time at The Beagle - we had planned to drive into Ipswich for pizza but it was such a beautiful afternoon we choose to sit outside, order a bottle of wine and enjoy the sunshine. Then we had cocktails, which were really good. All ordered via an app so no need to go inside and miss a minute of sunshine!
We decided to book a table online and had a fantastic meal. Best decision of the weekend. Everything was great - the ambience, the setting, all the staff, and the menu - plenty of choice and not too pricey.
We will definitely return.

Went with a group of learning disabled young people. One of whom has an irrational fear of dogs. The lovely young man behind the bar went out of his way to make sure everyone was ok and comfortable to ensure both dogs and young people catered for. Very good customer service.

Having not been back to the Beagle for a while as our last experience was not the best we thought we give it another go.
Must said we both had the sea bass which was delicious, dessert was ok.
Laura our waitress was very attentive.
Will not leave are next visit so long next time.
H. K.
The food was very good, pleasant surroundings and also the waitress, Tab was excellent. she made our visit more enjoyable. She was very friendly and bubbly. We would definitely be visiting again and would love to be served by Tab.

Went this evening for a birthday meal with my mum and young son who has severe allergies. I had booked a table and informed them beforehand of the allergies. When I arrived they had already looked at the children's menu and worked out what my son could and couldn't have but still double checked with me when ordering. They then made extra effort and made sure they scrubbed all the grills down before cooking my sons meals to make sure there was no cross-contamination. The waiting staff were incredible and kept us updated every step of the way and made us feel so safe eating there. Bonus was the panna cotta was vegan so my son could enjoy that with me too! Brilliant evening, will definitely return. Thank you so much for catering to us and our needs!

Just had a group meal, with my family. Never been to the venue before and loved it. We were very looked after, and never went without for anything. From recommendations to service, we had a fantastic night. Thank you to the team from greeting to goodbye.
P. K.
After arriving for our booked table and a slow welcome we were shown to a table and given excellent service throughout our meal. No starter tonight so straight into the mains of Thai based vegan curry for myself and pork belly for my partner. The curry was delicious in its flavouring and complemented the Jasmine rice really well. The pork belly was slightly undercooked, as were the green beans, but the potatoes were well mashed. We choose the small dessert and hot drink offer meant we had a delicious creme brulee with Americano coffee as well as an Eton mess with hot chocolate. All perfect. Alongside the food I had a point of ghost ship and and my partner had a flavours gun with Mediterranean tonic water. We'll definitely return to the lovely surroundings.

Have been many times now, friendly staff and lovely food. Always clean, beat and tidy.
Only suggestion is a change of menu, adding a few different dishes each week/month

We had evening meal on both the 26th and 27th June, staying at the Premier Inn next door. On the 26th the service was extremely slow and we were not impressed with the menu and thought it rather expensive for what it was. One couple left saying the menu was poor !!
The following evenings service was better when we were served by Laura, a very vibrant and sociable young lady, but still not impressed with the menu, which is obviously the same as a local Vintage Inn where we live (hence we don't go there)
S. C.
Had a lovely meal at the beagle with my husband tonight. Food was excellent, well presented and served by a lovely lady. Couldnt find fault at all will return again hopefully soon
S. A.
This time ribeye . And you know what? Again no surprise! Steak first class 😋
B. H.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening spent here. Staff very welcoming and friendly, food was well presented and tasty. Good beer selection.

Hadn't been for ages but the food was good and the service was great. The place has a decent beer garden out the front too.

Updated on 10/10/2020 During Covid-19
Me and partner hadn't been out for a meal for months. We decided to visit here as i have been here loads of times and my partner never has.
I booked online. There was loads of time slots available. I didn't see any "in your face" warnings about Covid on the website so i went through their pages and found the Covid section. It had a little video and had the rules of what the restaurant wanted. Face masks to be worn in the restaurant and at the bar, but you were allowed to take them off at your table. Which seemed reasonable. All booked. Arrived with 20 mins to spare. Went in with masks on and went straight ahead to a lady waiting to check people in. She took my name and took us right to our table. Everything was laid out just as normal but there was a nice distance between everything.
Someone gave us menus and said that we would be waited on. We were looked after very well. Our drinks came and we took them off the plate ourselves. The food came out in decent time.
Everything was great.
The only one downside to the evening was a couple arrived and they were sat next to the fire. which was directly opposite of us. They looked a little uncomfortable. They pulled a member of staff aside and asked if they could be moved as they were too hot next to the fire. Even though the fire had died down immensely and wasn't even aflame. The waitress told them she could have a look for another table but they are fully booked. She came back and said they might be able to sit near the bar as that is the only space. They made a little fuss moaning about the fire sounding like why would anyone be seated here and even suggested moving their table round. which in current situations would disrupt the social distancing. The couple were then moved.
The waitress was very polite even though these people were not.
It's really nice to see this pub running well during Covid-19. Everything is still very clean and tidy. The toilets are very clean. Would definitely recommend visiting.
Whenever I walk into this pub the atmosphere and the style blows me away. It's a truly gorgeous pub. The bar is nicely laid out and the brick floor is lovely. They have a small sitting area to the left of where you walk in which is nice and cosy. They also have a small open fireplace which is extremely nice on cold days.
The choice of drinks varies and the meal options are good. Their lunchtime and evening menu are a very good price.
I have given this restaurant 5 stars because the staff behind the bar are very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean and tidy and always welcoming.
There is also plenty of parking behind although it does get packed easily. You can park at the front too.
There is a disabled entrance ramp and there is enough room inside the pub to manoeuvre.
G. C.
Always really good food, both indoor and outdoor seating areas are lovely. Open fires in winter. Roast dinners are great and as much gravy as you like haha.
Their banoffee pie is amazing.
Reasonably priced.
R. C.
We went there for lunch and service was timely, we ordered the crispy camembert bites and the prawn and mango cocktail. The cocktail was impressive next to the 3 small crispy camembert bites served with chutney and two tiny pea shoot garnishes which looked rather pathetic in comparison. Even more dissapointing one bite was hollow and drained of cheese.
The waitress turned up when we had eaten them all and asked if everything was alright but picked up the plates and dissapeared without waiting long enough for my answer. Other than than that the beef rib mains were very good but could have benefited from a more generous bed of the delicious dauphinoise potatoes.
J. F.
Had a lovely meal at Sproughton The Beagle , had a problem ordering an paying by app on phone, but the lovely lady Charlene on reception helped sort the problem for us , so kind an friendly . A pleasant afternoon ..
M. S.
Have to say credit where credit is due the food I couldn't fault. Mushroom starter was gorgeous, lots of mushrooms and lots of cheese. The main of gammon was also very good, gammon cooked well and plenty of chips. Lastly the blackberry and prosecco cheesecake was just right to finish. The venue is well presented and clean however it falls short of 5 stars because the waiter we had was about the worst I think I've ever had. Forgot the drinks, asked what condiments we wanted and brought wrong ones. Had to ask him for more drinks, ask him for the desert menu and he generally looked like he wasn't interested and couldn't be bothered. Management you need to vet your waiters better because the one we had was awful !
_.
Lovely hunters chicken made by Luke, great service from my waitress Tiffany. Would come again! Came here again recently and had a lovely meal served by a very friendly Team.
H. G.
The food is always amazing..The staff always polite and friendly ..Our favourite place to eat x
R. P.
Wicked food love it there 1 of me best local places took all me kids there they love it.cant wait to go again
M. A.
Had a lovely dinner here with friends. Great food and atmosphere. Slightly slow service, hence 4 not 5 stars, but given it was a busy night it is certainly forgivable.
Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food was delicious. I do recommend the meze sharing platter.
Will definitely come again.
R. W.
I can't think of anything negative. We honestly had the most gorgeous meals we've had in years. Kirsty and all the staff were professional and polite.
J. R.
Last minute decision to pop out for lunch. Tasty burger although there was a big gap on the plate that could have been filled with a few more chips or a salad or something, especially for £15.50. So overall it was OK, but nothing that special.
c. d.
We booked and asked for a quiet secluded corner , we just got put near lots of people. Walk in were put in nicer corners!
I had lasagne and it was really lovely, it came with 'triple cooked chips' if they were triple cooked then I'm a telephone box.
Waitress was lovely
T. H.
There is nothing to dislike about the Beagle; easy online booking; open all day. Warm welcome. Efficient service. Good value for money with good range of food and all delicious. Looking forward to my next visit!
P. F.
Loved the food , staff and gorgeous pub. So friendly would love to come again.
V. N.
Still not a big fan of ordering at the table.meniu online didn't have specials on. Ordered all food together, but had to remind about deserts. My food was tasty 👌
D. G.
Lovely place with ver friendly staff and extremely good food would reccomened.
p.
I'm not a big meat eater and order a vegetarian option and was pleasantly surprised on how nice it was and a good portion
only issue I have is that the glass I was given was dirty and the food took over an hour to come out and it wasmt busy
S. R.
loved the food, the sea bass was delicious, the Eaton mess was very nice, I loved the environment, good friendly staff and well cooked food perfect for a couple or a group get together.
M. B.
Lovely and friendly staff. Restaurant was busy as expected on a Sunday but prompt service for food and drink.
K. T.
Lovely meal as always, great service, fab waitress, just a really nice place for lunch, highly recommend.
M. L.
Stopped off for a bite to eat and had the most tasty fish and chips I've had for a long time. The fish batter was lovely and crisp and not swimming in oil!
S. A.
Service was good. The brocoli was very under cooked & l liked my vegetables al dente. Also, the food was not very hot.
P. R.
Sunday Trio roast was fantastic - big portions and all really good quality. Highly recommended!
G. S.
Really nice location, staff are really friendly, food is good, slightly disappointed and two of our guests ordered the beef which arrived cold and by the time their meals had come back hot everyone else had finished theirs.
A. W.
Good food but the vegetarians amongst us were disappointed, but friendly staff and a nice setting
A. S.
Food was amazing but kirsty really made the experience better with her smile and happy attitude
A. F.
Had a lovely dinner and lovely service from Beth, the sticky platter starter is by far the best starter I’ve had in any pub!!!
B. M.
Nice quiet setting, good food and friendly staff. Had the pork belly, well cooked and tender.
D. K.
Nice pub seems a little bit understaffed. Saying that food was fast and lovely.
P. M.
I had the fish cakes that were very dry and the poached egg that came on top I might as well had a boiled egg.
N. B.
Nice food. Nice clean pub/restaurant. Staff pleasant. Only issue I have. Serving mineral water (or jack Daniel's for that matter) with lemon in.
Big no no. At least give people the option first. It taints the drinks and I hate it myself .
I. N.
We made a late decision to go out for lunch on my birthday. The atmosphere was friendly and the food was excellent. We were well looked after by Kirsty.
N. L. T.
Superb waitress. Lovely varied menu that catered for all tastes and diet requirements. All food arrived piping hot and was delicious. Particularly liked the option of liquer coffee and mini dessert. Excellent drinks menu and very reasonable bill at the end. Our party of 4 all had 3 courses and we didn't skimp on the drinks... worked out just over £40 per head. Tables still nicely distanced. Bright but cosy atmosphere. Will definitely return.
M. R.
Really good customer service from the wait staff, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, didn't feel stressed or rushed. Food was delicious, although I cannot comment on the pricing as I didn't pay for the meal. All round good experience and will most likely go again if given the chance.
J. P.
Good food, nothing disappointing and standard pub food selection. Has space to chill out and not just have a meal and an open fire. Lots of space inside, good parking outside. Child friendly.
P. H.
Part of the Mitchell's and Butlers chain of pubs/restaurants (so think Harvester type of place food wise) but not bad at all. Decent meal and reasonable atmosphere. Good service although slightly slow. Would go back. (Amended to 5* which I now think is appropriate given the reply I got and their obvious desire to excel at what they do.)
J. M.
Very nice pub with friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed dining al fresco. Close to the main road.
S. E.
A lovely local pub! Great food a lovely staff thank you!
V. W.
Unfortunately a few minutes after we arrived there was a problem with the gas, which meant a reduced menu. However as on previous occasions, the food was cooked well.
As usual the staff were friendly, welcoming Nd efficient. Best of all The log fire was roaring😁😁😁
G. S.
Friendly welcome. Convenient location. Good menu. Dogs welcome inside (not restaurant area bar only).
C. M.
Love it here. Really nice cosy atmosphere and a nice garden too
R. C.

Response from the owner 9 hours ago
Hi Richard Kemp,
Be nice to know why only 3 stars and how we could of go that to 5 stars.
Many Thanks
Team Beagle
Hello, not sure of the process in answering you.
Upon arrival we were greeted as we would expect, thank you.
Moments later, when being shown to the table, two members of your waiting staff squeezed past us in the opposite direction as if totally unaware of any measure of distancing.
We also were unable to locate any sanitiser for patron use following a visit to the toilets and touching doors before returning to our table.
we also felt that the food although tasty was overpriced.
So three stars for an overall average experience.
If we had been more comfortable with the covid related concerns we quit probably would have over looked the price of the meal and given 5 stars.
Unfortunately once a couple of concerns are spoken about within our group others tend to arrive
kind regards
J. W.
Nice atmosphere....lovely pub. Good choices on the menu and the roast wasn't half bad. Service was little slow on the day but I know this isn't the norm. Had a voucher for a free bottle of prosecco....win win
E. F.
Abbey served a large group of us and she was amazing! Never wanted for anything she was so attentive and friendly! Would highly recommend. Xxx
J. O.
Wonderful staff, really cosy but spacious pub/restaurant and just the most beautifully presented food. Have tried several of the dishes and every one tastes simply amazing. Top of our list! Once you've been you'll keep coming back!
J. C.
Had a lovely Sunday roast dinner with my husband and our little girl. The food was beautiful and Adam our waiter was polite and helpful. Our first time here for lunch and will return.
T. N.
Popped in for a couple of drinks & some food recently, surprisingly great service from all the polite staff! The food was delicious & the pints went down rather well sitting in the garden!
Only quibble was one of our orders came out wrong but the staff came straight back with the correct meal! Hats off to the manager, will definitely be coming back to this little gem!
D. P.
I was pushed for time, working away and stuck a pin in a list of eateries near to where I was staying.
I was not disappointed, because I ate there for the next 3 nights.
A good varied menu, the choice to eat in or out. A nice characterful pub.
Goodly sized meals and very reasonably priced.
R. L.
Amazing food and lovely staff. We had Laura serve us and she was great :)
D. O.
Lovely food and excellent service, will be back soon
R. H.
What a wonderful pub and restaurant! The bar area is very cosy, the staff are so friendly and helpful. There's a lovely open log fireplace (being August it obviously wasn't lit). Nothing is too much trouble. They are dog friendly and provide water bowls and dog blankets too. The food is amazing and we had several dishes, all very tasty. Their vegetarian options are very good. I would highly recommend going to The Beagle and to top it off there's a Premier Inn next door. The Beagle and the Premier Inn are independent of each other. Ipswich Town centre is only a 10 minute drive away. If you're planning a trip to Ipswich, definitely go to The Beagle for drinks and food as it's a great place.
C. G.
Beautiful period ale House with a newly refurbished interior.
Friendly staff and large selection of drinks.
The interior is very cosy and lots for the eyes to take in.
I would recommend this pub/restaurant to everyone. It's got a really warm and relaxed friendly atmosphere.
5 stars all day long
C. J.
Amazing Sunday roast today. 2 of us had vegan and 2 beef. Ample food, lovely ambiance and faultless service. Cannot wait to return.
S. L.
We have eaten here a lot over the past couple of weeks due to staying at the adjacent hotel.
The setting is good, the menu is somewhat limited for choice however the food is nicely cooked. Sometimes the service can be slow when the restaurant is busy.
E. T.
Great food. Nice cosy atmosphere
U. H.
Very popular place in great location. Dogs allowe, so very happy with it.
Seemed bit overwhelmed with the amount of customers 🤷🏽♀️
A lot of new tables outside. Good food, good beer. Ordering via app from the table - great although long wait.
B. S.
Service was slow especially as there were only 2 other people eating when we went in had to wait 25 minutes for meals that should not take that long
T. C.
The server Beth gave exceptional service and the food was lovely.
J. L.
Reasonably priced. Good quick service. Comfy.
M. H.
Food was delicious and the staff were friendly & helpful but not over the top!
P. P.
Been here many times and normally have an enjoyable experience. Not this time though. The temperature was uncomfortably cold. Food was average and uninspiring - we may go back and try again when the weather warms up......
S. C.
Lovely evening with friends .
Great food and service.
N. K.
Very nice pub. Good food and great service 👍
S. L.
Tim was a delightful, entertaining, professional, wonderful, helpful and pleasant waiter! He made our visit to The Beagle exceptional. Tim had good timing when to take our order and when we need another drink. Tim was a pleasure to serve us.
l. c.
WOW !!!!!!!!
The Beagle is back.......
Had lunch in there on Sunday and the food was amazing, was served by James who was very efficient and professional.
We have been going in here for a long time and over the last couple of years it has lost its way with some sub standard food and an atmosphere that isn't becoming of a country pub but since the new manager (Nicki) has been in charge you can certainly see a change in quality, staff attitude and cleanliness. Tim behind the bar is also polite and friendly to talk to and always welcomes you warmly when you arrive.
Definitely going back, great place to eat and drink
D. M.
Really lovely meal and staff very friendly
A. D.
Nice atmosphere lovely food great waitress service looking for some were to eat you cannot go wrong here will be coming back 😊
C. S.
Good food, friendly staff, service xan be slow.
P. G.
A very pleasant pub/restaurant with excellent reasonably priced food. Nice atmosphere with the feel of a more upmarket establishment. I would certainly go back again.
D. E.
Eaten here twice recently. Nice food and good service.
A. S.
Lovely food although the roast didn't come out altogether and had to remind the staff I was missing vegetables.
All in all a lovely setting just a pity about the delayed service.
I.
Had my works Christmas meal here.
The building itself is lovely and really nicely laid out.
The staff are all really friendly and nice.
We had Emma sort out our group and she was fantastic! Any moment we wanted something she was there and ready for it with no mistakes made! Even gave me a great hot chocolate as the final order after a night of whiskey.
I had a steak off the Christmas menu (I know right!!!) and that was wonderful but I looked at other peoples roast turkeys and they didn't really look amazing especially the lack of crispness in the roast potatoes disappointed me since they are my favourite bit of any roast which made me very glad to have chosen the steak because the triple fried chips were incredible. Also the portions of some of the other meals had almost half empty plates which whilst the portion itself may be okay still doesn't look good. Maybe smaller plates for these particular dishes or something to fill the plate. These are the only reasons I deducted a star. I probably wouldn't have a roast here personally.
I would certainly come again though!
A. W.
Good food, nice atmosphere and good service.

I think this particular pub has an issue with running out way before the end of the day. We've visited twice on a Sunday in the space of 4 years and on both occasions now, we've been told they've run out. Went at the weekend looking forward to one of their six roast options only to be told they only had two available (pork belly & lamb). This was at 8.30 in the evening. Reluctantly I opted for the house burger... no, sorry that's not available either. I was told two sirloin steaks left. I asked if I could have the sirloin but with the roast veggies and potatoes. Yes, we can do that but they'll be add ons so I'd be charged £16.50 for the sirloin meal (even though I'm not having the chips or salad leaf) and then £2 to £3 for each of the veggies, potatoes and again if I wanted gravy. There was no attempt to accommodate for the fact that they had prematurely run out and would happily swap out. I'd booked the table the day before and wasn't told that I'd risk the chance of not having the full menu available. And remember, this had happened the only other time I'd visited on a Sunday! We also visited on the Friday beforehand and whilst we were lucky enough to enjoy what we wanted, we could hear the table next to us being told they'd run out of what they wanted. It clearly is an issue here but there was no attempt to accommodate a made up roast with a sirloin (and one of their roast options had been beef or sirloin roast - not sure what the difference was). My son ended up having a prawn cocktail starter for a main as there was nothing available he liked which was a pie, beef stew, salad or puy lentil lasagna.. well we never asked so maybe they'd run out of those as well!
In response to the pub's reply (which is great to see), I don't eat lamb for ethical reasons due to them being young animals and i've not found a pub yet who've managed to cook pork belly properly. After two recently bad experiences, it's put me off unless I cook it myself. It's unfortunate your staff didn't know that I could have had the roast with a sirloin which would have solved the whole issue and in regards to your comments about shortages, I think this is a little bit lame as the same experience happened 4 years ago on a Sunday when there were no issues. Thank you for replying though!
D. R.
Great food, friendly staff.
L. F.
The beagle is a lovely place, plenty of greens outside, good sitting area and terrace with surprisingly friendly staff, which is rare these days. Food in general been fine, but the desserts been out of this world, definitely coming back.
B.
I was able to book a table at short notice, the staff were friendly, the food was very good and service was also very good, very little waiting time between courses. Covid requirements in force. Very reasonable priced. Would recommend a visit if in the area.
C. G.
5 of us all enjoyed our food.
Lovely staff.
Would go again.

Amazing aesthetic love the atmosphere very personal intimate vibes quiet and classy! Food was brilliant and service was awesome, tired scallops for the first time and realised they're bland with no flavour and ultimately pointless 😂
G. L.
Very tasty food in very pleasant surroundings. Staff were very friendly and caring. We'll be back 👍🙂
L. D.
Brilliant front of house and waiting staff but sadly the food was a 2/3 star. Lovely ambiance on a chilly evening, great for a few drinks.
G. H.
A lovely Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day, served by Adam. Mmm trio of meats.
A. S. (.
Nice old country style pub, does very nice meals. Perhaps a bit expensive but not OTT. Enjoyed my meal anyway as did my company
h. c.
Delicious roast dinners. Highly recommend.
G. L.
Bar food good, Sunday roast luke warm and over cooked. This is because it is cooked in bulk and kept warm for long periods of time. Staff very friendly
A. P.
A nice enough pub - in the truest sense of the word - but clearly laid out to maximise a restaurant space.
*Due to extenuating circumstances, we were not able to try the food.
G. B.
It was a very nice restaurant. Good parking area. Waitress very attentive although hadn't listened carefully enough to my order as an item was sent back and replaced with what I actually ordered. Kids menu could have been more creative and the sides were difficult to choose from as my grandson does not like most of what was listed and ended up with garlic bread to go with his rather small burger and chips. Having said that I would would go again.

Visited The Beagle Inn for a weeknight meal and a couple of drinks. The social distancing measures were clear, however I wasn't asked or prompted to scan the QR code to register as being at the venue. We were seated quickly and brought drinks, however the staff member picked up our glasses and put them on the table. The food was good, portion size was great, but the steak and ale pie had about 3 small cubes of steak in it, despite being a fairly big single portion pie. The deserts were good, but the vanilla cheesecake left a lot to be desired. An enjoyable evening, but there are definitely better pubs within this chain that I've eaten at.
G. T.
Great pub if you want food
A. T.
We had booked for a birthday meal, 8 people....and a small dog. A special request was made for this.
Had a lot of bother booking the table because I couldn't get through to speak to anyone, it had to be online!! Not very thoughtful of you need to talk to someone.
On arriving, we were then told that we couldn't bring a dog in!! The female staff and I think the female manager were not polite or helpful at all. Because it was a nice sunny day, we could eat outside.
The ambience was made all the better from a waiter called Phil. He was helpful, friendly and courteous. The female staff could learn from him.
We all had a roast dinner and the food was reasonable, probably some better than others. My meat had trouble in being cut!!
On the whole, becsuse of the waiter. It was nice!
Z. S.
Gorgeous place, food was amazing staff are friendly what more could you want? Glad we chose to stop here on our travels look forward to visiting again.

My son and I visited last night whilst staying at the Premier Inn next door. My husband was dropping off our son at his new army base. Although we didn't order food just a few drinks the roaring fire and the fantastic hosting from the staff was brilliant. Very clean and on top with the covid situation when we stay again we shall sample the menu. Well done 😁
J. C.
Usually better able to cope with the large capacity of their eating are, things seemed to get on top of them on our Sunday Lunch visit. The food was good, if taking a while, and one of our group got wrong order but was similar enough to keep it. Saw a few plates go back. Shame, and food was good, staff very friendly and it's a nice place. It's not put me off and would go again as I know they can do better.
K. G.
A really lovely pub. Open log fires. A really friendly feel to the place. The food was very nice too.
S. B.
Came here for the wife's birthday meal. All Covid safe and well spaced tables. Great service and a good choice of food which was all lovely. The free birthday Prosecco went down a treat!
D. F.
Lovely staff and food. Dogs made very welcome
L. A.
Great Sunday lunch and good friendly service
J. P.
Great quality and quantity of food, quick service and lovely beer garden.
A. D. W.
Lovely place wonderful post-Covid friendliness such great food especially for me as a Vegan lovely moving mountains plant based burger. And the vegan apple pie so lush with soya custard mmm mmm my Mum loved her margarita pizza and her apple tart with ice cream. Such a lovely atmosphere! A great welcome back
C. B.
As an elderly, disabled man I was treated with care and understanding and will definitely be going back there more often the management and team couldn't do more to help....thankyou for making it a night to remember....special thanks to Tim or Tom (sorry eyesight and hearing went years ago let alone memory) what a genuinely lovely young man....a credit
m. c.
Great service and good food. We each had a steak and found it to be very tasty indeed. Will be back to try the roast
K. G.
8 of us turned up for lunch without a reservation, and although we were a bit early for the lunchtime opening we were allowed to sit and wait. The meal was above average $$ and the wait staff were friendly. It’s off the ‘beaten track’ a bit, and I think that this allows for a more local and known customer appeal. A very good experience well worth a return visit when I get back to ‘the old country.
A.
Came in on a Saturday night and got seated straight away. Beautiful building and the restaurant side is gorgeous. The food, in this case the chicken and mushroom pie, was out of the world with big portions. Our waitress Tamsin was amazing too, friendly, professional and very accommodating.
Overall a very nice experience at very reasonable pricing. Would 100% recommend.
A. V.
We have eaten here at various times, as it is convenient for us to get to, food is ok but presumably as it is a chain, it does not taste, like it has been freshly prepared and cooked on the premises, apart from the veg ! Staff are friendly and we love the open fires! Just a shame (since Covid 19) there are not many places to sit to have a drink if you don’t want to eat. They allow dogs In the bar area.
I am disappointed, that they can not make a latte with non dairy milk, the Prosecco and blackcurrant cheesecake was disappointing, I could have purchased better from a cheap frozen food shop such as Iceland! Shame as the pub could be very comfortable and friendly.
C. J.
Food was very good. Nice ambience. Highly recommend.
D. D.
Good food and staff perfect hideaway for a pub lunch
T. C.
We went for our anniversary meal and enjoyed the experience. Food was good, setting was excellent.
The only reason we didn't give five stars; they got my meal wrong and my wife's initial pink bubbly from Kent was flat.
They rectified both problems, by another excellent pink bubbly and corrected the meal quickly.
Waitress service was good and we would be happy to return.
I. G.
Ahhh The Beagle!
Love that place not least because it's a mile away!
C. D.
Very nice atmosphere and decent food
R. F.
It was ok, busy Sunday afternoon but not rushed, table ready for the time booked, drinks reasonable, food ordered and got quite quickly. Doubles up on Yorkshire's but wish I hadn't as far to dry and crispy, not what I would call a decent Yorkshire, saying that the lamb and vegetables were lovely, the gravy was okay and you could have more if you wanted but too little to start with and we had to wait for a server to come round again as not enough to start with. Larger gravy boat to start with would be better. Did get one order wrong but quickly sorted out. Overall, it was good but could do better.
d. h.
Great food friendly staff great service we will be back
F. W.
Just been to celebrate a birthday with a meal. Sian was attentive & friendly. Nothing was too much & service was delivered with a smile.
Restaurant set up is clean & safe. Nice evening with 5 family members. Thank you.
I. W.
We were a little disappointed this time, as in the past couple of years we have always been very satisfied. This time the restaurant staff left something to be desired. After about 20 minutes of sitting at our table of seven people, I had to go and say at the bar we were ready to give our order. I also had to remind them that I had ordered tap water amongst a substantial wine and beer order. I also had to ask for cutlery!! Most of my friends enjoyed their 3 course lunch, however my pate starter and chicken ceaser salad main course were disappointing and my friends Eaton Mess, did not meet the usual description in terms of fruit and it was very difficult to find the meringue within the vast quantities of cream, presentation was poor too!!
A. J.
My wife and I had an excellent meal here, well above the usual standard of chain pubs. Also, the staff were very friendly.
M. R.
Lovely staff and good choices of ales
J. K. (.
Was very busy and nice place but not enough staff so service very slow. Waitress was doing her best you would think being linked to a Premier Inn they would be prepared fir that.!!!! Had to send food back as once arrived it wss cold Steak was tough. Puddings lovely. Not my first choice for food.
C. K.
Has improved a lot since last year. You can adapt the menu from reasonable "pub grub" to almost fine dining at a good price.
Friendly and helpful staff - we enjoyed some great banter with our waitress.
Good range of quality drinks.
A. V.
Food and service great. Would have liked a summer menu. However the sun, has only just arrived. So can be forgiven 🙂
P. G.
Lovely warm place and the food is really tasty we had steak and it was so tender and cooked to perfection 😋
G. C.
A lovely old pub. Good range of both hand pulled & cask ales. Warm fires in winter with comfortable seating. Tables outside in warmer periods. Restaurant with a good menu, good service and food. Excellent attentive staff. Can be very busy so best to always book a table. Have visited & eaten there very many times over many years. Never disappointed.
K. S.
Quick service, friendly staff, lively food
M. S.
Excellent meals there were four in our party two had the House Burgers, chicken and mushroom pie, lasagna service was great would definitely recommed
C. S.
Great variety on the menu, can be altered to your requirements. Good value and quality. Nicely presented. Customer service friendly.
C. W.
Out with friends. Haven’t seen each other about 9 months. Our waitress KAREN provided us with excellent service and the food was excellent too. Definitely be visiting The Beagle in Ipswich again and recommend to family and friends. 😀😀😀
M. B.
Had a small issue with food being cold on valentines however Emma & i
Iovox had the meals replaced and were very friendly and professional. Fantastic work guys. Would recommend and will see you again soon. Replacement food was fantastic and portions were huge.
M. H.
Try not to leave too many reviews but not this occasion it's well deserved. First off the location really doesn't do it justice, service is fantastic and Kirsty was amazing! The Irish Hot Chocolate was banging 😂😂
L. D.
Nice pub, and very accommodating to us, even though we showed up unannounced. Really enjoyable food (we mostly had pizza), and good selection of beers and gin! Nice atmosphere and a good looking place. I don't remember the price, but I thin kit was reasonable. I'd go there again, no problem.
s. j.
I have eaten here a few times. Always good food and service. Medium priced. The building is a converted barn. But it feels like a real pub. Traditional pub food with specials. Menu as well. I had prawn cocktail with lobster , followed with fish and chips. Good beer.
S. D.
It's very conveniently located next door to the Premier Inn that I was staying at so I popped in for an evening meal. As I entered I was greeted and quickly shown to a table. The food I ordered was good quality and served quickly and I found all of the waiting staff were very polite. Would go again if I was in the area.
B. A.
Good food friendly staff.
S. T.
Not the best experience a few things not on the menu, veg was sparse and overcooked. Would not recommend this restaurant as there are a lot better venues in the local area. The only plus was that the waiting staff were very efficient and friendly
J. C.
The Beagle has always been a nice place to go for a meal but on this last visit the ambience of the place has changed. The food was good. The choice of puddings is great but the staff are new and are not as attentive or helpful as the previous team. A nice meal but lacking a bit of sparkle.
D. H.
Friendly staff. Long waiting time for food especially as it's wasn't busy.
Ordered vegan dish with a side order of broccoli. Broccoli came with a non vegan cheese sauce.
Food ok but have had better prices rather high.
K. P.
Lovely pub. Great service. Very noisy though. Yummy food. Veggie and meat eater.
V. C.
Lovely food and great service
S. M. D. E.
Excellent food and service. Friendly and inviting staff. Will be returning again!

Honest David's reviews
Nice old pub just outside side ipswich. We have there many times and never really had any problems. Have eaten there a few times and again the food is very very nice and the service is very very pleasant. They do Stella which is always a bonus to me and the outside garden area is nice in the summer. If you're in the area pop in and give it a try. They also have a large selection of ciders if that's what tickles your fancy.
It's a good **** four stars from me
D. F.
Lovely country pub, top food, I counted 3 open wood burning fireplaces and friendly helpful staff.
k. b.
First trip to the area on a wet sunday lunchtime. Lovely warm and inviting pub with charming decor. We walked in and were seated immediately. Waitress said the food would be at least 25mins and when it arrived it was spot on 25mins. So far so good. Unfortunately the food let the experience down. My wife and I both ordered the sirloin of beef Sunday roast. The beef looked nice on the plate but was extremely fatty and chewy. Although the waitress took mine away and brought me another cut of beef (half of what I previously had on my plate) it wasn't any better. Our jaws certainly had a good work out. Yorkshire pud was also tough to cut and eat. And the veg lacked seasoning. If we had ordered something else on the menu we might have had a different experience.
L.
A great little country pub full of character, with lovely paddocked gardens, it a good selection of food and large range of wines, beers and ales. The service can sometimes be a little slower than you would expect but the food is generally good once you are served, would recommend.
L. B.
My husband and I visited The Beagle for the first time today and we were delighted. There is a large car park to the rear and some spaces to the side, with a few disabled spaces as well,so no problems finding somewhere to park.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful.
Our drinks were ordered and delivered immediately and we only waited 15 - 20 minutes for the meals, which were attractively served, well cooked and very enjoyable.
We will be back for hopefully more of the same!
J. R.
Such a cosy and lovely place to eat. We had a Sunday lunch which was beautiful however the veg was a tad cold. We were also told a table would be prepared for us and sat in the waiting area. No one came to get us and when we enquired how much longer it would be, it had been ready 15 minutes ago
... But the place is lovely the service (apart from the wait) was friendly and quick. I would go again
P. G.
Went there for a birthday meal, width my family. Food was good
S. C.
Had a lovely meal recently at The Beagle. The service we received was perfect and our waitress was wonderful. The food was utterly gorgeous (I recommend the Calamari and the Wagyu Burger) and I will very certainly be visiting again the next time I'm in or near Ipswich
D. B.
Very homely atmosphere. Staff were very freindly and welcoming. I decided to go for 3 courses and a couple of pints. Food came promptly. And was absolutely delicious. Very well presented and cooked to perfection. When im down this way again. I would consider bringing my family.

Lovely and relaxed atmosphere
Had a light lunch with my boyfriend. Staff was friendly. Food was fresh and tasty
d. o. '. s.
My sister, two nieces and myself called in for lunch as a treat before I return home after a holiday. The restaurant was empty on arrival and we opted for bar service as we thought it would be easier...the lady who took the order was very friendly and helpful and I was impressed by the cost of the meals ordered
The only downside as far as I was concerned was the speed of service which was very slow..almost to the point where I thought maybe they'd forgotten us. We ordered ice cream for the youngest member of the party and it came with one scoop in a ramekin and the tininst wafer we have ever seen, truly not worth the effort. We also had to remind them that we had ordered it.
C. H.
Can’t do a poached egg with the homemade fish cakes ? Really
J. P.
We visit the beagle regularly as it has become one of our favourite places to go to and we’ve never left disappointed!
The food is always on point and the staff are fabulous!
T. H.
Great food and service. All staff walking past on the way to the kitchen acknowledged us ( only waiting to be seated for a few minutes). Heather, our designated waitress - very friendly and helpful. All round great experience - shame it's so far from home.
G. J.
Lovely friendly pub, great atmosphere and service, food was lovely and plenty of tables inside and out.
N. F.
Pleasant surprise of having haggis on the menu. Ordered it, loved it. The tech is letting them down slightly but offset by the cheerful staff who clearly have had to deal with this issue many times before. Not often you hear waitress say it can't connect to the server.
R. M.
Usually great food and service, but my last visit was very disappointing. It was extremely busy, we waited an hour and a half for our food to come out. I had planned my meal from their website, but on arrival was told it was impossible to make me a salad without peppers. I had fish and chips instead, which were very greasy and unpleasant.
P. W.
The garden is on the wrong side of the pub & the A14 traffic noise is intrusive.
S. L.
More of a restaurant than a pub. Is usually very busy and if you're looking for somewhere to sit with a quiet drink with a friend then you'd best try somewhere else. Having said that they do have very comfy armchairs and sofas and the decor is suitably dark and has a cosy feel to it. Service is good and staff always friendly.
J. D.
Great food on offer, thankyou to Tom and the team
n. s.
Food is very tasty but service always slow. We waited almost 10 minutes to be seated despite booking. Staff literally walked past us and looked away to avoid seating us. Food and drinks also took a long time to arrive. There was also no Xmas table decorations or crackers, which I thought was a poor show given it was a Xmas meal booking
A. M.
Had a lovely anniversary meal here 👌
t. c.
More often than not the Beagle offers great food, good service and is a very pleasent place to spend an afternoon or evening. Today was busier than usual and service suffered, as did food quality. However we were offered a reduction in our overall bill.
C. B.
Very disappointed that they run out of xmas dinner at 7.30 .had to order something we didn't want but not much to order from then when we got our meal it was very small portions...left there hungry. Staff was good and nice but wont be going back there
D. O.
Visited the Beagle tonight with my family, we all ordered 2 courses, starters and mains. Drinks and starters arrived promptly and we all enjoyed our first course. We waited around 50 minutes for our mains, I ordered the cod loin and when it came it was luke warm, I did tell the waiter when he asked if everything was ok, he said he would return it to the kitchen but after the long wait I was reluctant. He said he would take something off the bill which i thought was a nice gesture. When the bill came nothing had been taken off and I didn't want to make a fuss so we paid and left. We probably won't return here which is a shame as it's right on our doorstep.
J. B.
Was served immediately which was very nice.. Bar woman Brooke was nice and kind, seemed like her manager was giving her a hard time though which seemed unfair as she was working exceptionally.. All round great experience, would definately come again
J. C.
Have eaten many times at the Beagle, a lovely pub and terrific food. However todaySunday although the food was excellent, they were short staffed, the existing staff did very well but 3 hours for lunch is not acceptable. Will think twice about booking for a Sunday again. !
J. C.
The starters we had were nice. Was really looking forward to.mains but they had a power cut! It's okay we will be back to try this place!
a. k.
Well , the Beagle , Kris was her usual polite professional , Karen was very helpful with anything we asked .......
The food was a little to be desired , my partner had a calamari starter and I a soup ....... Calamari was not the best and my soup had a skin on it ....... Our mains were both kept warm in the oven and definitely not their best by the time we got them ...... The deserts were poor in quality lacking inspiration ......... The price for the above was over £80 for the food , a Guinness a coffee and 3 g and bramble cocktails ..........
D. B.
Lovely food . A bit slow service but wort waiting for.
T. &. A. B.
Absolutely lovely food, friendly staff and not overpriced. Highly recommended 👌
S. M.
Visited for the first time for several months and was a little disappointed. Service was slow, drinks were delivered wrong and both choices of starter were unavailable so had to go without. The main itself was delicious but already felt a bit let down.
M. B.
Off the main road, this spacious pub is a favorite of mine for speedy service from attentive staff. Later on in the evenings it can soon fill up so you would have to take your chances without a reservation, however it is usually easy to get a table before half six. A contemporary country pub decor with some modern style accents, it has a formal dining area, bar lounge (some very comfy sofas and chairs), and a garden with a large amount of tables without it looking cramped.
As it is located on the very edge of town, down a small service road there is hardly ever a question of not finding a parking space.
Food is reasonably priced and the range would appeal to most tastes I believe. One thing I particulary like is that as most of the main meals are pretty substantial I find it tricky to tackle a whole dessert; enter the selection of mini deserts that you can have with a hot drink - my stepson really likes the Eton Mess with a hot chocolate.
P. W.
Such a beautiful pub, the friendliest staff, amazing food and dogs are allowed. Can't rate it high enough!!
B. W.
Brilliant food good service.
M.
Excellent food, but gastro pub prices. Too few staff most who didn't appear to care. That said going to the bar (it is table service apparently, but we saw none of this) the bar staff are excellent. Got great service from the bar manager, I think his name was Steve.
H. S.
Excellent, great staff and delicious food
F. F.
The lasagna was great and sticky toffee pudding friendly staff good all round
T. B.
Lovely meal and friendly staff
R. K.
Staff very helpful we had lunch only which was very good nice place to go for a meal and have craft ale
A. C.
I don't rate the food here in comparison to the price, I find it quite expensive. Venue is nice and clean though. Nothing at all poor about the food just don't feel it reflects the price in the few times I have been back.
A. S.
Was a lovely pub, just had drinks which were good but the food smelled amazing. Good range of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic and the staff were very friendly. Reasonably priced and relaxed atmosphere
K.
Food was nice but not as good as I'd hoped. Although the other people in our party loved it. Service was pretty slow. Restaurant is very pretty and relaxed.
K. C.
What a wonderful place ! We had such a lovely meal and the staff made our night very special. Thank you 🥰
G. R.
Very good service from when we booked table online had call back reminding us of wearing masks etc as soon as we arrived some1 came straight to us was very helpfully found us seats as we arrived early was then shown to are table fast n efficient service plus food was 1st class good potions too going back really soon
I. F.
Enjoyed some of the food but some of the other food was a bit bland staff were friendly restaurant was clean
D. (.
Love The Beagle.
Staff are fantastic and very friendly.
The food is amazing.
Worth the trip and will certainly go again.
Wish I could give it more stars.
F. C.
Took a while to be served, they were so busy. Well worth the wait. Food was excellent & the staff so friendly. Would definitely return & recommend!
G. M.
OK, food good but could have been hotter, however service slow.
L. S.
Food was delicious, service a little slow but friendly staff.
J. J.
Great Food, Great Service, Nice atmosphere... who could ask for more?
d. h.
Lovely pub, good food, lots of outdoor seating, perfect when stay at Premier Inn next door.Very pleasant staff
J. S.
Myself and my husband went there last night with our granddaughter. We got the meal and it was fantastic. The staff were very nice. We will be visiting again.
N. L.
Beautiful pub and outside seating, perfect for a drink in the sun. Very clean and well kept. Friendly staff. Definitely going back soon to try out some food.
t. m.
Amazing service. Shared the Trio of meats roast, meant to be for 2 people, seriously so much food! Really well cooked (except the potatoes, they were a bit hard 😔)
Y. P.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner on Wednesday night. Staff friendly and helpful. Quick service even tho it was very busy.
A. Y.
Very enjoyable meal service and food were excellent. Cost was reasonable aswell all in all an enjoyable night out
K. J.
Despite the fact that the premises had no gas at the time, the food was excellent and fairly promptly served. Baked mussels, beer battered deep fried halloumi, freshly fried pork scratching, and much more. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. Sizable wine list, quality local beers and cider.
c.
Always seems to be busy. Standard pub grub, don't think it is cooked fresh on premises - has factory food feel about it, but some of it is quite nice. Can be difficult getting served at very busy times.
P. O.
Lovely old pub - the atmosphere is welcoming and the food very enjoyable. I always enjoy a trip to The Beagle. It is also dog friendly which is a massive bonus, though they are not allowed into the restaurant.
M. W.
Service was good but felt food poor value for money.
D. B.
Really nice building, great staff. The only trouble I had was with the menu, could do with some more selection. However when my main came (7oz burger not doubled with triple fried chips) it was outstanding! Would visit again.
J. H.
We loved anything old and traditional and The Beagle ticks all the boxes. Very atmospheric and the food selection is not bad either. A perfect place to wind down!
J. W.
The food is mediocre at best and highly priced. I've been staying next door at the premier Inn so eaten here most nights.
Service is slow and not at all welcoming. Managed to get my meal before a glass of water even though both were ordered at the same time.
If it wasn't the only place to eat close to where I was staying I would not of gone back.
A. W.
Friendly and comfortable with great food. We even brought our two beagles to sit with us in the bar for a drink and they loved it too, so it must be good. We'll be coming back with friends soon.
S. B.
Lovely location, great food. Service was a bit slow to see if we wanted anything and when we wanted to pay. Otherwise all good
S. T.
Nice, cosy pub. Part of the Vintage Inns chain. Service always slow and food is a gamble... sometimes great, sometimes lacklustre. We enjoy it 6 times out of 10. We return more often than we should... but it's our local.
M. G. G. c.
Had a sunday roast. ..the food arrived very quickly and with polite service. The place looked very christmassy and with at least 2 log fires and a few radiators going full blast, we weren't about to get cold !...too many young kids though...a bit noisy
S. C.
Fabulous place, friendly staff and food is awesome!!!!! Easily became one of our favourite places to eat. Our 5yr old loves it, especially the fish and chips 👌
N. H.
Really nice pub to visit on our way home from our Suffolk holiday, just off the A14 near Ipswich, nice country setting, we sat outside which was lovely but for the sound of the busy A road. Not terrible though. I had a nice couple of pints of Aspalls cyder, and a lovely bacon and pineapple pizza with sweet potato fries. Very good. Good drinks on tap, good ales from Adnams and good lager choices too. Was very busy on a Friday lunchtime and doing a good trade, an extensive menu on offer, friendly staff.
S. W.
What a shame - We blame management, or lack of it! (booking for 7, 25/11/14)
The place looks great and our anticipation was high but, unfortunately, through the course of the evening our experience deteriorated. Our problems began when an obviously inexperienced and confused waitress attempted to take our orders.
1) We asked for our candle to be lit (twice)but it never was and we asked for a selection of the Olives & Breads etc which also never arrived.
2) When the drinks arrived there was one added which we did not order and another that was ordered was missing.
3) Next, one of the starters failed to arrive and I had to go to the reception to ask for it.
4) When the main courses arrived, one of them was still cold in the middle and had to be returned for a replacement.
5) We ordered a selection of sweets (some as the coffee/sweet deal.) The coffees arrived first followed by the sweets, and my Amaretto without ice arrived (you guessed it) with ice!
6) In fairness, they did remove the cost for the late starter and cold main from the bill but had added the drink that had not been ordered!
As I said at the start, it's a shame because it's a place that's almost brilliant. The food & ambiance was really good (albeit that the pork bellies were not crisped) and the prices are reasonable but it's the service provided by the staff that is poor.
That said, our impression is that they were doing their best, it's just that their best is not good enough and that's down to training which, in our opinion, is why it's a management problem.

Lovely food and great atmosphere.
Fantastic service from Adam.
S. N.
Meals we found were excellent and well worth the money, quality and service also excellent
M. J.
Waited ages for food to arrive, my brother in law ordered soup, but they came with main straight away,so had to keep main warm while he had his soup. Waited half an hour for Irish coffee, when I asked the waitress where it was she raised her eyes!! They did not charge us for it though. If I do go back it will be for drinks only!!
M. C.
Eating here again for the second day in a row. That should tell you how tasty the food is. Service was a little on the relaxed side, but maybe that's because I'm in the area for work and not for a relaxing evening out.
Would recommend a visit.
R. H.
Very nice meal.
A. G.
My family and I have been using the Beagle at Ipswich for about 5 years. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the food excellent.
Its sometimes very busy at the weekend and its been a wait for a table, but that in itself shows how popular the place is.
O. e. c. s. L.
Very friendly service! The food was delicious! Highly recommend the moovin mountain burger.
A. R.
Another visit...? According to my phone that's twice in a week... it's close to work!! Wagu burger and light bites. Great place to catch up with friends at lunch or after work, good food, good choice of beers and relaxing interior. I'll be back...
L. P.
Very friendly pub/ restaurant a lovely atmosphere and great food
R. C.
Normally eat here when visiting Ipswich with work and it's a nice pub with a good atmosphere. Food has been good and reasonably priced. Nice place to relax after a days work. Need to work faster on the drinks orders though.

If you are gluten free you will not have a great choice here , I had ham, egg, and chips AGAIN ,I don't believe the staff had any knowledge of gf so I would avoid if possible, the meal I chose was good but boring!

Well when the pub was 4 hours my father used to deliver post to them, as his parents ran the post office in sproughton. So we loved looking at the old pictures of sproughton you have on the walls . We lost him recently to.

Lovely food & very helpful staff

Fab service and well planned out from covid secure perspective. Felt very comfortable and 'normal'. Food was delicious as always 🙂

Nice food, good atmosphere. Negative was slow service, mainly the drinks which took about 20mins to arrive from ordering. However this was probably at peak time at 7pm on a Friday.

We visited for Sunday lunch.
Really nice pub, and great food.
I would recommend making a reservation, as it did seem very busy at lunchtime on Sunday.

One of my favourite places to eat in Ipswich. The food is so well presented, it makes you want to try everything on the menu just to see how they put it together on the plate.

We have ended up accidentally in this place and we enjoy every minute of it. Nice and cozy interior with fireplaces, pleasant service and excellent food. Very recommended.

Im afraid that we didn’t take the ladies name

Food is lovely and tasty. I'm not a big eater but the starters and olives and bread are enough for me.This is a lovely Pub. Proper Pub food with a bit of a push. Very nice indeed

Surprisingly good for a pub attached to a chain hotel... Friendly staff, good service and nice grub

Lovely food, friendly staff. Went here as an alternative to the Holiday Inn's restaurant. Can get busy over the weekend. Parking can be limited when busy. I would book in advance for large bookings.

Usually the food is very good, unfortunately on my last visit I ordered the steak and ale pie.. almost inedible...steak was fatty and hard...very disappointed. Staff friendly as usual.

Really really good food and a great price for the quality served. Service was friendly and just the right speed, not too fast and not too slow. Highly recommend

It has a nice ambience. Clean & tidy. Shame a starter came out over cooked. Servicexwas slow. Maybe not enough serving staff. But done ok. Kept smiling.

We enjoyed a great lunch with friends yesterday. It wasn't busy at the time, & staff were excellent. The food was excellent too.

I love the Beagle for Sunday lunch. A meal with home cooked flavour, excellent Yorkshire so, parsnips and roast potatoes. I always ask for extra gravy.

Incredibly accomodating for vegans! Even had this beauty for dessert 😍😍

Good food, lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Fantastic place. Some food might be slightly higher prices then other places, but it's totally worth it. The burger I had was amazing, and I'm definitely going back for the Wagyu burger.

Always friendly with good food and drink.

Food went down abit for awhile but now seem back on form. We had a lovely evening after a very busy day perfect place to grab a bite if you can't be bothered to cook or staying in the hotel next door.

I was in a party of 7 for Christmas lunch and we had a variety of meals ranging from the Christmas dinner to me with my rib eye steak (I wanted a change ) with starters and puddings also we were a variety of ages
We all agreed that the food was excellent and the waitress was a wonder
I was the first Christmas we have been away from home on a Christmas day and my wife found it so much easier than cooking for us all, we are considering doing it again and will probably book at this charming Pub again
I recommend The Beagle to all

Food good and nice atmosphere.

I'm a pub landlord and can be quite critical of other places, but, this place is superb, Guinness is kept right, glasses are clean and in date (which is a big thing for me, dirty glasses from a poorly kept glass washer ruin a drink) the chef cooks a fantastic steak, ask for medium, you get medium, if melts in your mouth, the fish cakes were equally fantastic, all in all very friendly staff, great food and great beer, wish I didn't live over an hour away

good food and cosy place, only downside slightly noisy if sitting outside. staff is great and selection of drinks is good.

Nice food and staff but very overpriced and too special for a lunch time meal/snack no sandwhiches /bar meals

I've been coming here for years. It's a pretty good place to meet someone for a meal. You can die of thirst waiting to get served at the bar!

The meal was excellent & the waitress very attentive to our needs but we did have to wait rather along time for our food.

Nice little pub, outside seating, clean friendly, didn't eat so can't comment but will be returning to try,

Poor table very wabsly. Had to wait far too long for my food even when it was ordered with others And same items in told I had ordered out of rotation. Go figure too expensive tries too hard to be more than it is I mow see why it's a 3.8 rating
