Reviews of The Cricketers - JD Wetherspoon
P. P.
Centrally located along the Main Street bus station and close to Sailmakers shopping 🛍
Nice interiors and Friendly staff.
Some drinks out of stocks when we ordered. Good lunch crowd and many regulars here
S.
Lovely pub with great food. Very easy to order and food arrived quickly. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Was quite busy though, weren't a lot of tables free. Cocktails were lush.
J. C.
Decent place to eat you get what you pay for always very busy. Drinks are cheap and lots of choice with an extensive menu. It's worth looking at the 3 for 10 or 12 pounds great value. Staff work SO hard and are lovely. Unfortunately no dogs even allowed in the rear garden but can't have everything.
J.
Great place to eat and drink.
Always packed, very busy and totally worth it .
The large breakfast was cooked perfectly.
The outdoor area is awesome , and the staff are helpful.
The toilets are a bit of a mission, but you kind of expect that with 'spoons.
J. R.
Yummy and very reasonably priced cocktails.
The bar staff and waitresses were awesome, helpful and friendly.
K. B.
Large friendly pub with good atmosphere. Big selection of real ales at an average price of £2 a pint. Good choice of food on the menu and good value. Lots of space in the gardens and covered areas outside. Well worth a visit whether to eat or relax with a drink.
S. T.
Cheap but cheerful. Curries are good and you can't beat the value. We had four meals, two pints of Leffe and two soft drinks for less than £40.
Friendly staff.
M. B.
Great food and drink at affordable prices, Staff are very helpful too.
r. d.
Great place to stop for pre- show drink as it is very close to the Regent, Corn Exchange and the fabulous New Wolsey Theatre.
Sensibly priced drinks, as becomes all Wetherspoons, with quick service and ample seating inside and out.
B. R.
Usually a fan of Wetherspoons and visited here last year but has a tired appearance, toilets dirty, tables sticky., WiFi not working. However staff pleasant and usual good food and drinks.
T. A.
Met up with friends and chose Cricketers for a meal, I chose scampi and chips and was very impressed for something so reasonably priced that came with a drink of choice too. Great price in pitchers also 🍹
K. G.
Very nice place beer great price no meals at the moment as the kitchen is being updated staff very friendly
A. J.
You can't beat the value for money and the ease of ordering via their app, but the cleanliness in all areas was poor.
R. S.
Brilliant my first pub when I was a free virile young man! 40years on its still brilliant and I'm still free but not so virile!!!
P. B.
It was OK. Service was a little robotic and impersonal. Food was alright, had the curry but had to ask for mango chutney which was supposed to come with the meal.
A. B.
Cozy and familiar place, nice beer options. Went there during the summer with a friend. Nice experience.
D. C. (.
Couldn't fault anything, the food was good and served quick, good choice of drinks, polite staff. We do like visiting here when in Town.
R. C.
We dropped in for breakfast before going shopping. We ordered two muffin breakfasts and two coffees. Before I had even got back to our table a member of staff was there telling my wife that they had run out of muffins. There gave us a chance to make a change which we did. Food arrived and was hot and presented nicely and nothing was left on the plates at the end. The place could do with redecorating as the part we sat at was looking tired. Top marks for the staff.
D. K.
Another crackin pub...I do love what they do in these pubs with their unique carpets etc. Very warm and lovely settings. The outdoor facilities are great as well especially if you need space or disabled access. Foods always gr8 and nice n hot...⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
J. T.
Popped in for breakfast while my dog was at the vets. The service was very good and the food good and great value for money and, with the coffee being buy one and refill as many times as you like, I was able to relax and enjoy my food without being rushed.
B. 6.
Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good size beer garden.
Well worth a visit.
Stayed longer than I should have but was well worth it.
N. B.
It's a shame, but Wetherspoons seem to consistently serve food that's not up to temperature. I had a pizza here and it was stone cold, so I had to send it back, but this is an experience I've had in other Wetherspoons... someone needs to look at their processes in general, improve them (and staff pay) or they may find they're poisoning their customers.
A. T.
Food was nice but took long for table to get cleared from previous customers though it was a busy evening after football, drinks orders came quickly.
D. C.
Nice pub but could do with a few more bar staff on at the weekend. Door staff were friendly but efficient which was good to see.
J. N.
Cor
I call it the Monty Panesar or the Jimmy Anderson (cricket gag)
Can’t fault it for the world, some place
S. H.
Just popped in for a Burger,Chips and a drink before a concert and was perfect for that .
Food was very well cooked and nice and hot.
Good value for money as always at Wetherspoon's.
G. E.
Needs a good clean, coat of paint.
Busy but plenty of hard working staff.
Good outside seating area.
D. D.
Great pub in town centre , food is good and in good time menu is very aminable ,staff are attentive and friendly staff ..Close to bus station and parking .. has a garden
P. H.
Very nice and a large pub, very good outdoor area. Great atmosphere, Very good prices on food and drinks, Lovely staff, In the centre of the town.
B. B.
Nice wetherspoon just about 2 mins or so walk from the town centre. Have had breakfast and cask ale here. Breakfast was well cooked and the ales were good quality and kept well. Nice garden area and a good size bar with plenty of guest ales. Only thing that lets the place down is it seemed quite hot inside on both occasions even though it wasn't that cold outside.
S. S.
Can't go wrong here, such good prices for drinks and food is always lovely.
G. M.
Your typical inside of a wetherspoons. Very unusual though because they have a proper beer garden so if you wanted the outside space and garden choose this pub in Ipswich
K. “. M.
It is a nice cheap place to eat and or drink but doesn't play music and a lot of young adults. Can get very busy on a Friday and Saturday night.
a. o.
Great food extremely reasonable prices, lovely staff and quick service, thank you 👍
N. W.
Absolutely loved this place, the food and drinks were absolutely amazing and not expensive either.
B. v. S.
Nice establishment very good food and at a bargain price.
Well worth a visit.
K. D.
Lower prices than most and a pretty wide choice of drinks. Gets busy inside and out on a Friday night
E. B.
First time I have been in for 3 years same as it was ideal for a quick no frills meal
H. M.
Cheap drinks and the food is pretty good especially the grilled chicken burger and beef. One important thing is to upgrade the steaks quality as it's chewy and it can be done better to suit a good menu.
R. R.
Nice enough, plenty clean indoors. Plenty of food choices and drink options. Typical pub experience.
J. M.
Imagine having to work for their boss, next time you feel like criticising the staff...
You wouldn't, and I wouldn't, yet these poor sods still do/have to.
Rather than see this as some sort of valediction, for some vote you might have misguidedly cast, you should see it as a sad indictment of the policies that you might, but I haven't supported, for the last forty years...
I know their names, do you?.. Go find a mirror, and see how long you can look yourself in the eye.
Just remember that you are drinking in a Wetherspoons, just like those you like to look down on... Like the end of Animal Farm.
R. C.
Good honest food at reasonable price as are the drink prices. As with all weather spoons the toilet is the furthest away from bar they can get it although there is disabled 1 on ground floor
T. U.
A very busy venue when we visited (Friday evening), we had to walk around a few times to find a table. The service was still quick, and the food arrived in good time.
L. B.
Cheap beer. What more could you ask for??
R. F.
Amazing value!!
Good food.
How do they do it for the price?
Lovely staff here too.
Despite the value food the service was top class.
R. H.
I popped into The Cricketers after travelling up from London to watch the County Cup Final at Portman Road. I had an hour to kill and am glad I made this decision. I originally ordered a bottle of Adnams Ghost Ship and then found a table and looked through the menu.
I chose a pizza with another bottle of Ghost Ship, and ordered through the app.
I didn’t have to wait long and my beer was cheerily brought over. Not too long after, a plate-filling (and stomach filling!) pizza arrived.
The pizza was delicious and went well with my low alcohol beer.
Overall a very impressive first visit to a lovely pub.
G. R.
Good cheap liquor food is alright the waiters are always run off their feet but aim to please the toilets smell a bit.
C. H.
I would use again, but in this instance my burger was overcooked and dry, the seats were grubby , the app placed food order took 20 minutes . Food cooking time is ok, but the drinks should of arrived sooner than that.
S. B.
If love this pub, if only for it’s outdoor section which is huge, with decent tables for couples and large groups. The staff are all friendly, everywhere is clean and as you’d expect all the food and drink is brilliant value. I’ll certainly be returning!
M. S.
Beer and food Good. Splendid service even though thec pub was very busy
k. e.
Meals are microwave and can count chips have .
Reasonable priced drinks
R. B.
Nice large pub
Wetherspoons Chain
Good menu
quick service
T. A.
Very nice food and drink. Worth visiting.
R. C.
Quality of real ale varies from average to very good An interesting range, about 8 beers generally some local ones
J. B.
Cheap and cheerful but does the job, staff are very friendly 🤔
R. A.
As my local spoons I love this pub. Always quick on the app service. Good food and reasonable prices. Staff friendly.
Let's hope Mr Tim Martin and his crew don't close this one!
O. S.
Good location, cold beer, and budget friendly as usual 👍
M. H.
Lovely friendly pub. Fabulously Helpful and Wonderful Staff.
b. s.
Food was surprisingly good for price coupled with beer prices that are difficult to beat.
G. H.
Great value breakfast with unlimited hot drinks
J. C.
The cricketers is worthwhile to give a look well worth the money and includes a drink cannot complain
M. P.
Very busy on Saturday night but the service was second to none. Kelly the manager is very efficient and in control but remains calm and friendly. The door security were doing a great job too and on the ball without coming across as too 'heavy'. We had a good meal and a few drinks, good value as all Wetherspoons are. We will return when in the area.
M. M.
Good value food and drinks. Often visit regularly, often menu items are out of stock, food a bit lukewarm but any problems are soon addressed by helpful staff. Quality of experience depends on other visitors as there are some 'characters'.
J. B.
Lovely breakfast and plenty of coffee. Just what I needed.
M. C.
Good food and good service as always, one of my favourite pubs in town.
P. D. C.
Good value for money menu restricted due to upstairs refurbishment
a. n.
Very good, lot of beer options. Price is moderate
K. D.
Nice, comfortable pub with good breakfasts.
J. H.
It's a spoons.
Food was good 👍
Order on the app rather than queueing at the bar. If you only want a pint then they have a table number that you can put in for your app order 😉
D. J.
Great pub go here if you're away fans visiting Ipswich FC
S. C.
Slow service they seem to prioritize those who buy on the app first. Other than that it's your standard spoons
M. F.
Nice pub, huge garden so plenty of outdoor seating and didn't have to queue to get in which is always a bonus.
The staff are so lovely and food/drinks come out very promptly.
Tables are cleaned regularly, very covid secure.
Would recommend.
J. B.
Cheap food and drink, friendly service.
A. P.
As usual good cheap food and drink, can get very noisy and as usual, like most Wetherspoons steer clear of alcoholics corner.
J. L.
Fantastic old building with the typical value for money beers and wines.
T. A.
Very nice food and very very good service.
T. F.
Had a couple of hours to sprare whilst waiting for car repair, newspaper, full English (very nice), cup tea, cup of coffee happy days with a friendly service and atmosphere.
C. P.
Just popped in with work colleagues. When you use the app for service why dies it take so long for 4 drinks to arrive ??
I. T.
Different pub, same menu. Nothing to comment really. I never had issues with this good chain restaurant. Highly recommend it!
d. m.
Very nice happy to have been in this place..5 star all round
B. b.
Excellent service, great beer and food.
D. C.
Usual Werherspoon experience. Food is consistently good here.
R. M.
Had to move empty glasses and plates so we could sit down , hot drinks machine was out of milk
B. B.
Very good staff, food and drink.
C. M.
Good value meals, well kept beers.
A. P.
Staff were abit slow serving drinks
L. S.
Very good busy, good atmosphere didn't have the food that I ordered so had to get refund
w. w.
Very good food fast service. I like wheterspon pub. 😁
j.
Great pub, Great drinks, Great people. 9/10
B. K.
I met up with my best friend, for a drink and chat about everything. We don't get to meet up too often, so tend to choose The Cricketers cos we like it and it's near for the buses.
K. K.
Great value for money, food and drinks
N. C.
Pleasant friendly staff. Good value too
R. P.
Good fast service cheap and nice filling food. Good for families and anyone looking for a fast bite to eat.
G. N.
It's a wetherspoons, don't expect much more than cheap food.
The APP is great.
S. C.
Great place for a quick lunch
S. S.
A Witherspoon pub. So drinks are cheap. I like the inside seating, specially the tables beside the windows. Nice and comfy. The best thing here, according to me, is the food. Excellent chicken wings. Also, their Indian is the best I found in Ipswich.
S. F.
Had the deal of the day sirloin steak, it was cooked to perfection, lovely 🥂
M. S.
What a great place for a pint and lovely food all at an absolute bargain price . Totally reccomend, especially for a family gathering, not getting ripped off for soft drinks. Only downside is not easy to park , but go and try really worth a visit, forgotten how good Wetherspoons are and such value for money .
C. K.
Me and my partner went there for a quick lunch as the chain is known for its reliable decent pub food. Well we were terribly dissappointed. We ordered pizza and it was undercooked, very stingy on the toppings and it basically looked like a tortilla pretending to be a pizza. Can't really blame the staff as there weren't enough of them working for how busy it was, so the bar and tables were dirty and glasses were piled up.
h.
I went here with a group of friends for drinks before moving into town. Good service. Cheap and cheerful.
M. P.
Very good place to drink and eat
M. G.
Well it's a Weathspoons. I'm sure we'll all familiar with this brand and that which it represents. Yes good value food and drink. It has to be said though in our current situation, a covid safe environment has to be a given. Yeah. Weathspoons understand that as well, at least so in the Cricketers. Lay that alongside friendly, competent polite staff. How can one knock it?
L. P.
Cheap food and drinks but almost always tastes good. Great deals on pitchers of drinks.
T. S.
Nice place, good beer garden. Waiting staff nice and helpful. Did have a bit of a problem with remembering cutlery! Most of the food was good. Mixed grills were well over cooked and dried out. Female bar staff seemed to prefer serving male customers. Disabled toilet disgusting, no bars either. Real pity.
A. C.
Very tired interior , use the app else you will wait at the bar forever!!
O. M.
Good accessibility for wheelchair users, nice big outdoor area and cheap drinks, only loses a star because it’s like a labyrinth to get to the non disabled toilets upstairs
E. T.
Great dinner and the service was excellent
D. M.
Was there on Easter Sunday, it was busy and we were in a large party. We had a mistake with our order and a young lady came to sort it out, turned out it was our fault but she handled it in a very professional way, most impressed and should be praised thank you
J. O.
Nice pub. Good outdoors area.
H. M.
It is what it is! You get what you pay for cheap fill a hole food! The drink prices are ok, bit of a locals pub where you get a lot of "lads" in but the seated area round the back of the bar has plenty of dining space. Nicer in summer when you can sit in the beer gardens. Carpet is a bit sticky in some places! But it's an old spoons so you've got to expect that to some degree. It can be very busy at times.
A. B.
Service was good. However the chicken bites arrived without the dip. No explanation. When we asked the waiter he said he would go and ask. He didn't and although he walked past us twice he proffered no reason. Another waiter suggested that there was no dip left but that we should have been offered an alternative.
L. W.
Average whetherspoons. Curry Thursdays are worth a shot. No music, other patrons can sometimes be unsavoury. But the cheap alcohol balances it out. There are still better pubs/bars in Ipswich.
A. C.
Great value and choice as usual. Well kept beer and friendly staff
A. A.
there is some average beer... but Brewdog Punk IPA on tap makes this a great place
A. J.
Lovely but v hard to find v helpful.kind receptionist s
Clean comfy
M. H.
Food good very clean
B. F.
Good place for a bacon butty and unlimited coffee first thing, or well priced drinks later in the day. Felt slightly odd though to be drinking coffee there at 9am with 4 drunks sitting next to me swearing copiously. OK I get it's a pub, it serves alcohol, but perhaps when breakfast is being served make a clear definition between eating and drinking areas? I did eventually move to another part of the bar, but sadly finished my coffee surrounded by a strong smell of drains. That said, the bacon butty was delicious and staff friendly!
N. O. (.
This has always been the place to start many evenings, due to the restrictions which were in place, many people had to queue still, limited numbers but once in fast and efficient at getting drinks to the table via the app, a good start to the evening
J. W.
Good beer garden , good value for money
G. W.
Fair, reasonably priced breakfast. Menu shows more on offer than they are actually offering due to actually having a restricted menu. Went for breakfast and about half items on the menu were not available.
Re-fillable hot drinks is great
J. P.
It's just OK. Chips were not good.
P. M.
Very good sirloin steak on steak club day at very reasonable price to include alcoholic drink. Downside was no one came to clear the table or wipe it . Seemed to be a general shortage of staff. We do like the different areas of the pub, and appreciate that it offers great value.
M. Q.
Cheap and cheerful, good selection of beers and the breakfast menu takes some beating. Food has been a bit cold on occasion but happily resolved by staff. The new ordering app is superb, 1 minute to setup table number etc then food and drink delivered to your table at the push of a button!
C. B.
Waited 15 minutes at the bar tonight before we moved on to somewhere else. No acknowledgement from staff on arrival. Typical Wetherspoons decor inside but service was zero tonight.
M. C.
Great food value for money
A. V. D. M.
Normal spoons fast food pub for a quick drink.
R. B.
Great pub in Ipswich town Center.
K. J.
Regular visitor here. Service nearly always very slow, especially for the first drink. Upon returning with an empty glass, you get served relatively quickly.
Apart from that there is always a good selection of real ales on offer, always well kept and delicious. Food is good too, nothing fancy, typical Wetherspoon menu, but you get what you pay for. Would give 5 stars if service were faster, but keeping staffing to a minimum keeps prices down. You can't have your cake and eat it too!
T. M.
Not the cleanest but food was ok
J. G.
Meet with friends from previous job .Have done this for about 4 times a year for a least 10yrs .
Good surroundings food fair and not to expensive, drinks at a fair price. Can get a bit crowded as a popular pub in a town centre setting has the benefits of being next to main bus station and very close to taxi rank and private hire companies.
m. h.
Nice array of reasonably cheap beer, nice big beer garden, decent grub, polite staff.
J. H.
Good food good service needs a spruce up and a few more staff.
Prices very good
N. S.
Terrific value, polite staff
T.
recent visit, I was not impressed with the overall experience. I had to wait over 15mins to be served. One person on the til who didn't have a clue what he has doing. ( various staff floating about but no one helped the boy in the til, except girl jumped on the til to serve one customer). However spoke to the manager to voice my concerns which I was given an explanation, weren't very good one. I appreciate her honesty, Word of advice explain this to customers so there aware and apologising to customers for there wait wouldnt go a miss. This ruined my my meal as I weren't able at the same time with my relative. Had to ask for clean glass as the glass was given was dirty.
J. B.
It was better than I thought, was able to choose table place order n sit all without face covering on. And the meal was hot, but could of been a bit hotter.
M. B.
The outside area is nice and there's a no smoking outside area too. The food and drink are reasonably priced although the food can be hit and miss (like all Wetherspoons I've been to). There's a family area at the back. It's a nicely sized pub and the Wetherspoons app for ordering is always useful. I've been coming here for over a decade, so they must be doing something right.
H. s.
Exactly what you'd expect from a spoons. Cheap food and drink. Social distancing measures were good but not perfect as we were asked to move from our table three times to allow for other parties to sit (our group and the other group were the same size each) between this tables werent cleaned and we were sta were there was alot of foot traffic with many customers not wearing masks walking around
B.
Me and my girlfriend went in this morning for breakfast for the first time and were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, the breakfast and hot drinks were spot on. 👍🏻😀😀😀
m. b.
Busy pub good atmosphere nice outside space .
I. D. (. D.
Awful service, don't know where to sit or stand. Went for breakfast and the place was quet and still was a lot or confusion over order. We found the staff very patronising and not friendly at all. After ordering via app being told that they could not see our order, after a few minutes when all came through not even apology. Manners cost nothing!
S. A.
Food pretty good. App not so good. Give me humans any day.
K. A.
Guest ales is an easy win in my books
s. l.
We had a full breakfast and coffee with family visiting from Cheshire
T. D.
Enjoyed my meal,
Nice fast service and friendly staff.
It really was a flying visit and we dropped in as a group. The staff made sure we got our food quickly even though they were busy.
Would recommend if your in the area looking for a well priced meal or a few drinks.
R. M.
Good food and beer very good prices as well. Still very nice.
J. C.
Great place to get some drinks, food and to socialise. Smoking areas, with tables and shelters, and due to its central location, there isn’t normally too many big brawls or drama. Live sport is played here all the time, and often there are deals on the drinks and food.
J. M.
Clean pub, separate outdoors areas for smoking and non-smoking. Food is good quality, and tasty, and not very expensive. Food comes relatively quickly, although it can sometimes be a long wait to order, as it is rather popular!
r. q.
Typical wetherspoons in Ipswich Town centre bus station area
J. C.
Weatherspoons - stellar pricing wins again. Very reasonable as always. Sometimes getting served is a mission and you can be left waiting a queue for a while. More lack of staff then anything. They work tiresley running around doing as much as they can. Always helpful and professional. Food is good when on the fly. Tip is to use the phone app to order as nice and easy.
A. P.
Recently visited here after having a day out .lovely lady called hannah served me was very friendly went above and beyond with her service to me and my family .thank you
R. C.
Nice food at Wetherspoons prices!
N. B.
Really nice to get out again, yes service is done by app and sometimes slow but that's to be expected as full app/table service for everyone, keep up the good work ☺️
l.
great food for the money, ill always rate most Wetherspoons but this one is particularly great! you can download the app on your phone and order through there. 1st class service without the price tag!
I. W.
We are regulars for breakfast at this pub; very good value and we like the vegetarian selection - lovely veggie sausages. The coffee is not wonderful but is drinkable and cheap! Relaxed atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff
T. L.
Always a nice environment for a few catch up drinks with friends or a couple after work! Staff are friendly and food and drink is cheap. They also have table service on their wetherspoons app and is usually delivered with reasonable speed. Haven't ever had a bad experience there!
R. Q.
Typical witherspoon pub, good food and drinks for the price
I. C.
Lovely place.Great atmosphere. Reasonable prices for food and drinks. A great place for meeting.
H. R.
Excellent food drinks were delayed a bit and the bar person was rude when asked where they were but altogether not too bad
M. G.
It is quite a busy place mostly and the drinks are quiet reasonable in price. Depending what day you go you can have a really good crack and laugh. A peace of advice though, don't get to rowdy or back chat the staff as they will not stand for it and just bar you.
C. G.
Very limited menu but nice food
M. S.
Cheap beer and food. What’s not to like? My advice would be don’t sit at the tables near the back. They are used as a walk through and you get a cold whoosh every time someone goes through. Not nice if you’re eating.
Z. S.
Perfect athmosphere cheap food and beer :) good place to hang out with friends ;))
L.
This place all depends on the people you hang around with honestly! Good staff and people there with some good vibes sometimes! 💯
k. s.
What a place this was. Visited Ipswich for a week and i was suggested about this place by my friends.
Mood refreshing ambience, this place is very lively.
You can have almost all the beer options available here. I also had fish and chips.
Comparing to Nottingham's Wetherspoon, this one was little small but worth visiting.

Great to eat and drink lots of space outside.
Staff helpful and friendly. Have been quite a few times and always enjoyed meal.
Good meeting place and brilliant sitting outside in the garden eating dinner and drinks.
O. R.
Food and drink is decent at a great price. Bar service is slow ar busy times but ordering through the app usually results in efficient servicing. The bar service is due to the amount of staff not their ability
S. M.
Cant fault it for anything. Food great for the low prices. Staff pleasant and hard working. We are frequent visitors. Dont always have alcohol but very reasonably priced and good choice of beers.
M. G.
Great service. Good fair priced food and drink and good tasty food offered hot
R. V.
Had a great time with my friends
D. C.
My local one of the best places here atmosphere is always good food is good and the house ales are fantastic. In busy periods expect the service to be delayed but the staff are friendly and apologetic
P. F.
It was okay, but not as good as some other wetherspoons I've been to.. needs good clean the booth area seating we sat in was grubby that's why 3 stars..
People were friendly enough though.. ordered burger an chips, burger was nice but not enough chips a handful at most..
D. O.
The bar garden is nice but the stuff are not great, and just serve the first person in front of them.
The female manager can be rude and unhelpful.
the food is hit and miss depending on the chef.
K. M.
Cozy pub with friendly atmosphere.
S. B.
Great pub good food cheap drink
K. T.
The atmosphere is really nice for having a drink and chat with friends. However, the chairs, floor, tables and bathrooms are disgusting and for a place that sells food during the day I expected better hygiene.
M. S.
Wetherspoons pub, so if you know the chain you know exactly what you'll find here. It's s big pub with a horse-shoe bar, a selection of discount - prices beers, lagers, cider and spirits, kitchen with a variety of dishes and an epic walk to the toilets.
The furnishings are comfortable and practical and the decorations are items of local historical interest.
T. D.
Had managers deal fish and chips during previous week and it was excellent, went back for proper fish and chips on Friday and it was awful, probably the worst meal I have ever had at the cricketers.
I. M.
Nice, clean wetherspoons with exceptional outdoor area. Great value as well!
T. p.
Nice place, kept covid clean, good food and drinks, reasonably priced.
N. A.
Very pleasant staff. Food has gone downhill and prices have gone up a little. Still cheap though. Used to go regularly when in Ipswich as a cheap and cheerful. Wont rush back now but will give it another chance.
G. M.
I stopped by on a Monday lunchtime. It was busy but we still got a table. They offer the standard Wetherspoons menu with lots of options for everyone. The food service was quick and staff nice enough.
R. M.
Had lunch here - good beer, good food - everything we expect from a well run 'spoons.
P. H.
Food was served quit quickly, l had a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise and salad with a pint of beer for less than six pounds which was very good value. It was quit a busy pub but very friendly.
J. 4.
Ok standard, some less then desirable customers who were bit loud.
R. L.
Very cheap drinks. Great for pre-drinks but the locals are not welcoming and the decor is in dire need of updating. Still an early 90's pub with original decor and hasnt been cleaned since either.
D. B.
Good value drinks, basic pub grub. Had 10 oz Gannon, chips eggs peas mushroom and tomato. Good value at £7.49 including a pint of Doom Bar.
P. S.
Corona on tap. What more do you need to need to know.
c. p.
Went Sunday afternoon. Wasnt busy at all. Womens toilets were discusting! Used toilet roll all over the floor in every cubical. Sanatry were over the floor and rubbish! Plus no toilet roll in any of the cubicle holders! Went and told staff and no toilet roll for over an hour! Also we had food and tables were not cleared for ages after we had finished eating. I would of understood if it was busy, but as everyone was at the concert. It was the quietist that i've ever seen it.
O. L.
Staff were very friendly and had recommendations for meals. Food was perfect and service was brilliant
l. k.
Was there last night food was ok but never received our steak sauce and no one walking around to ask for it
C. R.
Great prices. Too busy on fri & sat tho!
A. J.
Just had a superb lamb Rogan josh from the curry club menu - excellent value for money, served quickly and genuine interest from the staff
Not overly busy but steady.
Some of the furniture needs updating but nothing to complain about
Keep it up Wetherspoons team!
S. C.
We popped in to the Cricketers for a drink before going to our Christmas party. I hadn't been here before, but was pleasantly surprised, a nice vibrant pub. I would definitely recommend it.
J.
Excellent range of real ales (eleven) on the day I visited.
j. ..
Food good. Drinks are cheap.. gets very busy because of this. Need more room for the smokers outside as they have a huge non smoking section
c.
It's a weatherspoons so you get what your pay for the one thing I didn't like and as fair as I know as been like this for a while is that they don't clean there pipes I had a ale that had a tint of GREEN and for those if you that don't know ALE IS NOT MEANT TO BE GREEN!!! Had 2 sips and couldn't drink the rest
S.
Love being here, in town centre, opposite the bus stop home, good deals, offers on all the time..we actually have a Wednesday/Thursday club, were various group's of my friends meet..
Cheapish drinks mean we can come out more than one day a week....but being a large pub and central is idea..
Negative..toilets way up stairs....too many stairs..xxx
D. T.
OK for a few cheap drinks to start the night
M. S.
Long que outside but when in good food cheap drinks app ordering only outside eating so food got cold very quickly and one member of staff had bad attitude with the way she speaks to customers..
T. T.
Very spacious Weathetspoons put in the centre if Ipswich with parking within three minutes, service was good, the food was fast and well cooked, the staff friendly and helpful. Very well worth a visit.
S. B.
Very friendly staff always happy to help, the food is good and well priced. being served from 8am all the way through till late. Good selection of drinks as well as food and drink deals. Comfortable atmosphere and there's a lovely log fire for the winter. Lots of space inside and out, with two outdoor seating areas for the summer. Very handy if you are in Ipswich town center, and 2 minutes walk from Christchurch park
S. L. F.
Great food, Cosey and comfy chairs. Nice friendly & helpful staff and reasonable prices for food and local beers..I recommend anyone to check it out, even if just for a " Cuppa cha or real freshly machine - made coffee..
L. D.
Awful slow bar service as usual... the staff don't even make eye contact when you walk in which seems rude. The prices are good though!
A.
The less loud of the two larger pubs in the area, you'll find a more relaxing atmosphere here. Still usually full to the brim with people on a Saturday night, but without the loud music so if you want to talk without having to shout this is the place for you.
S. M.
Food ok beer was also ok but no doom bar . Toiles need up grade
S. S.
It's in the best location in town foods good and your never waiting too long for the order best choice of real ale on tap in the town centre
Busy at lunchtimes but reasonable all other times
Always good for a evening out at a reasonable cost
R. A.
Cheap drinks what more could you want
G. H.
Brilliant service and prices.
R. G.
Very nice breakfast, for a good price! Downside was the ash brown was super overlooked, in the last two or three times I went there... If I will come back? Not sure...
E. F.
The foods what you expect from a weatherspoons but you will occasionally get surprises, good selection of beers n spirits . not a romantic place but for a night out with mates or just to grab an easy cheapish meal its good
A. I.
Àll round very good
s. b.
Decent place with really friendly staff
D. W.
Great prices, good food and nice setting, have enjoyed the changes over the years. Generally used for a starting point for a big night out but during other nights other than Friday/Saturday it's a casual place to be
c. c.
Prices are good, pub is nice bit old fashioned, staff just seemed over worked and understaffed, have to wait over 15 minutes to get served at a busy bar with only 2 bar members behind, also food came all at different times waiting a minium of 20 minutes, wouldn't recommend for a quick stop but not bad for a cheap drink
T.
High heals or muddy boots are welkom there . Very relaxing and cosy atmosphere plus food is delicious for every taste. Great place to spend a evening or pop in during the day, always the right.
M. K.
Good cheap breakfast, although came out a bit cold. Would still go back though.
A. L.
It's a Wetherspoons. Table outside was sticky (they gave me a damp cloth when I asked though). The rice on the 5 bean chili was clumped and only 4 tortilla chips. I've had better in a 'spoons but it was OK. It's cheap, the staff are, typically for Wetherspoons, visibly over worked and underpaid, leaving me feel like I was helping to exploit them by being there.
(Dear Lawyers. I mean underpaid in the colloquial sense. Undervalued, for a job that would be physically and mentally challenging if the customers were sober.)
E. T.
Food is great. Nothing fancy just good honest pub grub at low prices. They also do deals like a burger and a drink for a set amount
G. C.
A very good location. Right in town centre. Food was excellent prices great. Friendly nice staff. Bar drinks good
B. L.
Need more staff at busy times. Ed Sheeran is playing in Ipswich and looks like no real extra staff. Tables need to be cleared quicker saw people walking out because of tables not cleared. Apart from that I like going in with my mates
S. s. W.
Good fast service nice tucker for a budget price
T. C.
Food was pretty okay, not the best though. Had a piece of bacon that looked like it had been cooked all day. It was like a biscuit. Staff were friendly and helpful though.
V. M.
Just your normal WeatherSpoons. It is a drinkers pub but they do offer a menu. Its cheap however its the kind of place i would only drink from bottles rather then glasses..
T. M.
Great food and drink
D.
Amazing place, staff are lovely and drinks where amazing. Food came a little later then expected but that was ok. Toilets are kept clean and tidy.
G. G.
My daughter who has just had an operation to halp her to walk and for first time she wore heels she was with her white friends she smile and show her i D that is when her knee played up she back step to steady herself that when she refused entry she's home now crushed and thinking that she will never be able to wear shoes again thanks cricketers
E. b.
Super speedy service and really friendly staff and suits a small budget. Couldn't ask for more!
L. H.
A typical Weatherspoons with sticky floors and sepia decor but the staff are friendly and efficient and you're always given a smile. They make it worth going.
C. l.
Nice place for a meal and drink
K. H.
This pub has never disappointed!
Reasonably priced food, and amazingly priced beer.
Great atmosphere when you are with friends too.
P. L.
A bit run down toilet we're not nice food no to bad though
N. J.
OK, but had to wait until 12 to order from regular menu, unlike other Witherspoon's pubs. Staff were lovely though.
S. B.
First visit to The Cricketers (used to go to the Robert Ransome) and very impressed. Curry was excellent, no complaints, place was busy and clean. Ordering via the Wetherspoon app is so easy too.
B.
Lovley Food a Great Choice of Gluten Free ((Has own Gluten Free Menu)) i was very impressed with this, the staff were
very helpful and so kind. A lovley place with a great atmosphere recommended for all of the family
K. K.
Great drinks and food, would've been five stars if I could order a drink without food.
A. P.
Nice pub with a good character. Staff are friendly and breakfast and drinks selection are good. Just a bit dated, needs a lick of paint.
J. R.
Very friendly welcoming pub part of the wetherspoons chain food was excellent and good value from ordering till on your table time was 20mins and no long queues at bar served in under a miniute and the pub was busy this was on a Wednesday lunch time around 12.45pm excellent wheelchair access but no parking available out door seating available here
A. P.
Polite staff and excellent food and drink range, Our food was served quickly was well presented and piping hot. Very good.
K. W.
Good food and beer and other beverages .at very reasonable prices. A good family atmosphere at all times.
Ken
P. H.
Love spoons as is always full after
C. M.
Loved it.Great wetherspoons pub. They have good beer at low prices.Food is ok and the prices are pretty good also.It has a lot of space inside and they have smoking and non smoking areas outside of the Pub.
R. A.

- Not so expensive drinks
- Have Open area, family area and indoors as well.
A popular place to hang out in town!
R. E.
Decent atmosphere, food arrived promptly via the excellent app. Great selection of real ales.
M. G.
One of the nicest Wetherspoons
M. A.
Disappointing steak not as good as they used to be, staff friendly good beers.
G. L.
Good big outdoor space for a beer or food under the present circumstances it does a fine job for those of us who fancy a beer and some interaction with friends
C. L.
It's ok i met my brother and sister in law there 4 a coffee as they do refillable drinks it was nice & warm inside
S. G.
As family bars go it isn't the worst out there however I have eaten here a few times and never had means to grumble you get what you pay for
i. j.
Friendly staff cheap beer
D. M.
Always love this place to meet up with old school friends regularly, no music so you can hear yourselves talk, which at my age, is what I want, no loud music or having to shout to be heard, busy at the bar at times, but hey, it's a popular place ! 🙂🙂🙂
T. B.
Standard Weatherspoons affair.... good grub, ok free coffee..... cracking price!! So VERY early morning drinkers..... and lots of mums with babies for some reason????
K. H.
The usual Wetherspoons offering, great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make use of the wetherspoons app and you don't even need to go to the bar. The cricketers might not be in the best location of Ipswich but the building itself is an imposing site and the interior is pleasant enough with lots of references to its and surrounding areas history.
T. W.
Ate here today, our son has a servere egg allergy cant even breath egg , the staff was fantastic very helpful, food great, and a happy alive little boy. Thank you
K. A.
Great Wetherspoons in Ipswich. Loads of tables inside and out. Usual menu and selection of drinks you expect with Wetherspoons. Great atmosphere. Get down there for a meal and drink, you can't go wrong.
P. S.
This is a large Wetherspoon's with a lot of out door seating which is nicely laid out. They have a good selection of beers served by friendly staff.
Well worth a visit
L.
Great place, It's very welcoming and I love it a lot. Only problem is my last Christmas dinner there was very poorly done what i was surprised about as the food is normally great.
M. K.
Love this place. Brilliant to people watch if you get the window seats! Great food and lovely staff
J. C.
It was good food but toilets in gents need a good repair.
S. W.
Lovely outside area.
Cheap good quality food.
Reasonably priced drinks.
Z. “. G.
Best Wetherspoons in Ipswich. Standard cheap prices, good drinks deals. Good food. Great meeting place, great for pre drinks, dinner, lunch, drinks with friends, coffee, any occasion.
S. F.
Extensive 'spoon's, efficient service and good beer.
D. A.
Always family friendly summer winter it doesn't matter.
F. F.
Very good breakfast
a. l.
Food was okay could be better, portion sizes could be better too
R. B.
A favorite stop whenever we’re in town. Always busy and always excellent!
C. P.
Food not as good as it used to be, slow service even taking Saturday night into account. As usual for a Saturday night, toliets blocked, not enough staff.
T. H.
Helpful and friendly staff. Good choice of food and drink.
A. B.
I go here for drinks when meeting my mates or old friends I only had there food while drunk so can't say if it was good but had a lot of nice times having a pint with friends. Staff are friendly.
S. J.
Bar staff okay, some quite rude... Drinks very cheap compared to most of Ipswich... General service could be improved
T. D.
Very good use there app to order food and drink work so much better than standing at the bar for ages waiting for a drink
D. M.
Service was a tad slow, though order with the app and the table service makes it a pretty decent place to chill with a drink. Food was decent.
R. G.
Cheap beer that's it really
J. W.
Food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful
N. S.
A good example of a Wetherspoons pub. A good selection of beers and quick and easy food. There's a nice outside seating area for those sunny days!
V. H.
The service is quite fast, and the staff is fine as well. Alas, the restroom is a bit complicated to be found but the place itself is quite good. The prices are okay, too.
S. A.
Good Guinness, Good food, plenty space inside & outside, able to keep my cycle at my table when I have no locks
J. L.
Cheap but disappointing. Shame it's now the only Spoons in Ipswich. We used to have three and the Cricketers was the best but has now gone down hill.
S. M.
Good location, good food and drink options. Pretty crowded during weekends
A recommended pub
M. H.
A lovely pub/restaurant, Weatherspoons standards. Great value. Their steaks are really good for the money paid.
E. A.
The pizza was really good! So were the onion rings. Some of the best spoons food I've had
B. A.
Excellent food and service, will be back again. Manager very approachable and friendly for a chat and getting more info on that tasty food
S. F.
Staff friendly. Food good. Covid-19 safe. Great garden.
J. A.
Nice place, quick service and good food
S. M.
Very good service. Drinks cheap. Food ok too .
S. L.
The holy land of Ipswich drinking. No review i can write will truly encompass the glory that is the boozing experience you will receive from this Whetherspoon's pub. Young or old. Food or Drink. Rich or poor. your Huddled masses will breathe free.
The Sovereign SPOONS will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The SPOONS has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the SPOONS, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
C. W.
Easy place to go.
G. D.
Great food considering . Great prices. Great atmosphere .. unfortunately the miserable scruffy looking staff let it down
R. R.
What is there to say about a Wetherspoon's? Food and drink at a very low price. The pub itself is quite out dated but it is nice to sit outside when the sun is out.
T. H.
Not too bad. Excellent front door staff helpful and pleasant
R. D.
Good consistent standard W spoon pub. Too many tables made it feel a bit cramped even though it is a large pub.
R. S.
Nice friendly staff food often served a bit warm not hot some times cold
d. c.
What’s not to like.. super cheap real ale.
R. T.
Budget food and drinks, with screens around tables. That's only going to work if screens are regularly disinfected and I didn't see that happen.
w. c.
Top quality place, super accessible location right next to public transport and the centre for town, great food and well priced beers!!
R. O.
Friendly staff, usually no problem getting a table. Great value beer.
G. W.
Today was so warm, we enjoyed eating and drinking in the garden. Staff were very good and friendly.
M. C.
Great place to go for a meal. Cheap and cheerful. Selection of beers and ales is strong too.
D. H.
Standard food as per usual with wehterspoons quick service and polite welcoming.
N. F.
Plenty of tables, quick service, reasonably priced food and drinks but could do with a deep clean.
S. P.
It's a Wetherspoons, what more can I say
W. D.
An ok selection of food but nothing special. Lots of nice beers at great prices though.
n. c.
Great on a tuesday if u like steak, just dont bother on days that ipswich town FC are playing as they will run out of food before u get there
A. C.
Great service with cheap drinks and delicious food. What more could you ask for!!
R. C.
Great breakfast at a great price + refills on coffee.
J. W.
Very nice, clean, great prices, shame pint design means they take time to be poured + could do with more chairs/ seating areas
T. P.
Chips wasn't very warm
