Reviews of Gildersome Arms, Greene King Pub & Carvery
S. P.
Visited today for my mum and dad's anniversary and it didn't disappoint. The staff are super friendly. There's a good choice of food, menu and carvery. I had the carvery, which is a favourite of mine. You get a good helping of meat and a Yorkshire pudding, a varied selection of vegetables to choose from and potatoes, with as much gravy as you can fit on your plate (small, medium or large). Will definitely be back.
E. W.
Popped in here as a random idea after visiting a garage down the road. However, we were all impressed with what we found.
The food is of brilliant quality and quantity. Lots meat given at the carvery. Drinks were a little expensive, but as it all only came to £10 per person, there was no complaint!
C. S.
One or two dishes missing off the menu, but to be fair it has been a sunny day and possibly busy. Friendly staff and decent food at a fair price. The kids have lived running round in the pirate ship playground. Great little park for younger kids.
J. C.
Went for a date night in the afternoon, food was amazing, not been here before but will be back for defo!
G. G.
Amazing carvery, all hot and fresh with lots to choose from! Lauren was amazing and informed us about an upcoming new menu which we will definitely be back to try! The team are a credit to the management! Thank you guys for a wonderful dining experience! If you go to a Toby over Gildersome then it’s a stupid mistake!

Went Easter Monday with a few mates . It was lovely. Plenty of tables to sit down . We booked tho . Food was delicious. The waiting staff and bar person were so nice and kept asking if everything was ok and did we want anything else . Which I though was lovely . Lovely afternoon had by all . Would definitely reccomend to other people. The atmosphere is homely and calming music pulled it off so well. Will definitely be coming again .Thank you all at Gildersome arms . Very impressed
J. C.
Carvery was fantastic everything spot on. Choice of three meats Beef, Turkey and Gammon. The Yorkshire puds were great not too spongy not too hard. Big thanks to the staff for great service!
L. E.
I came here to "rescue" some of the carvery trimmings through Olio. It was my first time using Olio to collect food, so I was a bit nervous. But when I arrived, the barmaid was very friendly who directed me to the carvery. The chef politely asked if I wanted a Yorkshire and then said I could help myself! There were lots of lovely veggies and the gravy was veggie too! I was kindly provided with a box a and pot for gravy. The food tasted reeeally good! I highly recommend!
D. J.
We enjoyed a celebrating my mum's birthday this lunch time at the Gildersome Arms .I had steak with peppercorn sauce and it was really tender .My mum had the carvery and she said it was really nice .The staff were very helpful and friendly .We will definitely look forward to our next visit .
F. G.
Banging! Had a natter with a lad called Jordan who was working the bar while I stopped for a quick drink, he upsold me to have a small carvery aswell……the meat is spot on, aswell as those roasties! Proper nice scran! Will be back on my next visit to the area!

Haven't been in here for years i did enjoy the carvery was very nice definitely will be bk. Bar staff very nice and the young waitress was nice the only thing that let me down was no sticky toffee pudding so love that pudding
T. P.
What a gem! Popped in here last night on the way home as never been in before. I was not disappointed, staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough and the food was gorgeous. We will definitely be coming back soon with the family!

I came here for my birthday with my family.
The food was cooked to perfection, really tasty and hot. Everyone enjoyed everything they ordered. The staff here are very helpful , friendly and professional. The place is beautifully clean and decorated nicely for the Christmas season.
We would recommend coming here to everyone.
Thank you for an excellent service.
5 stars from me . Gemma.
J. B.
Went for Carvery. It was really nice.
If you like your meats done more towards rare side then it's lovely. I do like mine a bit more done but it didn't spoil it at all.
The mustard and other condiments were hidden round the corner from the gravy, at the end of the line, so i missed getting mustard, which i love.
Is it all Carveries? Not been to one for a long time. But i'd prefer food to be a bit warmer. I know it's hard with it being laid out.
J. R.
Decent food and well presented. Clean site and friendly staff. Only gripe was the onions were almost raw and the roasties were flowery and anaemic, other than that everything else panned the nearby Toby into the ground.
F. F.
Made the mistake of going mid afternoon, barely warm tired vegetables on the carvery, a pie took a llong time to arrive but was fresh and tasty.... I have been twice before and it was really good, wont go again at this time.
J. P.
First time here but won't be the last. Food is a good price and staff are friendly. Lovely carvery too!
A. S.
Good service and friendly staff. Had the large hunters chicken which was slightly over done but was still nice. Definitely be back when in the area
D. M.
The pub was really cold. Carvery no cauliflower cheese or sprouts disappointed. Hawthorn farm is much better. Sorry.
M. H.
We were impressed with the positive and proactive approach by the staff. From checking that we were being looked after to making sure our dietary needs were being met.
J. R.
This pub has just been done out inside and it now looks much cleaner, lighter and overall friendlier. They now also have a proper carvery which is great. Prices still seem reasonable and the staff are still friendly. A much needed update has breathed new life into this traditional family pub.
M. D.
Great carvery all very warm great service very clean no silly ques very relaxed great atmosphere went to the eleventh earl at horsforth recently queued for 25 mins food very poor costing £6 for 2 soft drinks and the turkey was just all a plate of fat service was also very poor the gildersome arms deserves top stars been a few times to Gildersome arms lovely place
y. s.
Good social distance regime. Strict booking for indoor dining. Food was plentiful, Good quality and tasty. Kids play area was a bonus. Defo recommend.
T. G.
Very welcoming and friendly staff, the meat was moist and veg cooked to perfection! Will definitely be returning!
S. C.
Lovely food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced. Would recommend.
a. s.
Good food, service & friendly staff. For 5 star's you could have had lamb or pork on carvery rather than Turkey seeing as it was Xmas eve. 🤣🤣
S. H. (.
Traveled here for a Carvery, to be told it had just finished @ 14:30
It closes on weekdays for 2 hours each day from 14:30 till 16:30
So unless you are visiting outside of the 2 hour shut down period.
Do not travel here for Carvery!
Other menu is available.
Once we got back on the road too our hotel, we passed a “Toby Carvery” 😤
I have tried to update the opening times of Carvery , with no joy. See attached photo instead.
E. W.
Highly recommended Just had a lovely carvery friendly staff good value will be going again
s. k.
Value and plenty to choose from in menu. Nice carvery to choose from up to 2-30 then again at 4-30 pm
J. G.
Too good to go box was cracking 👌 gamon and lots of trimmings such as Yorkshire pudding, carrots, cauliflower cheese, potatoes in 3 different kinds and stuffing 👌👍
S. D.
Not been for many years until Thursday I can only say fantastic. The staff was very friendly always smiling egar to help. The chief
was very friendly and we could see he was really happy in his job.
Customer service was excellent by all. Food was lovely and good value
J. G.
Called in ad hoc with my brother and ended up having a meal. Can’t remember who the chef was, but he was brilliant. Very friendly, happy to discuss options and an absolute credit to the pub. Made a good night great.
S. C.
First time visiting for my sisters birthday. Service was excellent from start to finish. Meal was excellent and left very satisfied. The staff showed great customer service and would certainly come back again.
p. w.
I had a lovely meal at the carvery, I couldn't fault it. I would definitely visit again. Could of done without the snow though. Visited on the 28/11/21
J. H.
A fantastic place for the family, we just had a small family get together at the gildersome arms, we had a hot finger buffet which was fantastic, the food was lovely a great choice of foods well presented and tasted beautiful , the staff were very proffetional, polite and tentative. A lovely place very clean and great value for money. We will be returning to try the carvery it looked amazing. Thanks to Sam and all the staff, keep up the brilliant work . 👏👏👏👏🥂
d. 5. a.
Not too bad only went in for a couple of drinks food looked good and plenty to choose from on menu
A. F.
Hi it was a carvery my husbands birthday and my mums it was very nice plenty of choice as well we are going back in February
S. T.
Food delicious 😋staff really pleasant and helpful. Very accommodating, as had went to another restaurant, and as I hadn't booked wouldn't entertain us.I called your place, and the member of staff told us to just come along, no carvery left, but didn't want that anyway, good value, would definitely return, next time we are down from Scotland.
K. M.
Lovely carvery nice friendly staff well worth another visit
A. W.
Lovely! A great waitress, who couldn't do enough for us, thank you! The food was great, gorgeous meats from the carvery and excellent value.
R. S.
Decent food lass who served me was banging I wanted to hook up woth her but was super full and just needed my bed
A. H.
Staff were not very helpful. Had to ask for knives and forks. Then we sat waiting to see if anyone would ask if we needed drinks, went to bar got our own. Then had to go to bar to get the receipts so we could get the carvery. Didn't realise we had gone totally self serve.
On the up side food was good and hot.
L. C.
First time experience for a dinner time carvery, unfortunately it was a massive let down.
The Turkey was extremely dry, and we couldn't help ourselves to any vegetables, it felt like we were back at school and were being treated like children.
The place could do with a good clean and we noticed that flies were landing on the unattended carvery meats and were trying to land on our food whilst we were eating.
A big queue to order food at the bar, there simply aren't enough staff working to accommodate the customers.
Sadly, as much as this is local , we won't be returning any time soon.
B.
This is an updated review. Previously I rated 1 star & a dissapointing review.
However I've been back here several times over the last few months as it has gotten so much better.
The staff are friendly & attentive. The prices of food are reasonable, the place is easily accessible & usually clean & tidy.
Price of drinks is quite expensive and the toilets arnt the cleanest but apart from that, Gildersome Arms has improved massively.
S. R.
Had the carvery for lunch. The staff were all very pleasant and easy to chat to. Food was ok and nice atmosphere.
J. P.
A very good experience and a good carvery . Good quality of food and a very good price. The staff is good and helpful. Have been back again. Will go again.
B. T.
Came for the first time last night as part of a family meal, and i must say it was fantastic! The pub was nice and tidy even with it being extremely busy, staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. Will definitely be coming again!
M. H.
Had a lovely meal and few drinks with family. Friendly staff nice atmosphere. Nice pub would definitely go again
c. b.
Was made to feel welcome from the start and the food we ordered was lovely definitely will go again
s.
Lovely staff, great service and the food was delicious. Nice homely atmosphere.
E. B.
Service poor at the bar not enough staff working. slow Ordering foods
Food was a carvery this was well prepared,
Not any many flies around as on my previous visit.
Rushed to leave even there were plenty of empty tables.
G. O.
Great food and plescent atmosphere. Great value on price . Great Staff and great menu and value .
N. R.
Great place to take your family, delicious food and great value. I thoroughly enjoyed the carvery. The staff are friendly and helpful especially, Julie who took care of me and my family. 5* rating from me
J. N.
Good food and friendly staff. It's a chain gastropub so not a "drinkers" pub and thus doesn't have that atmosphere but since that isn't the point of the place it can't be scored on that.
Cleanliness loses points from what would be top due to the squashed flies on the windows. Not the best visual accompaniment with your meal.
J. C.
Great atmosphere, family friendly. Food was lovely. Staff was friendly
t. k.
The chef that was serving us today was really lovely. I was with a gentleman with autism and the chef was very kind and patient with him. We had a decent serving at the carvery and the meat was cooked perfectly 😋
p. t.
Only went in for a drink nice surroundings. But have not eaten there so cannot comment on the food
d. g.
I have visited here twice recently. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is very good, I had a carvery on my 2nd visit, excellent. Loved the puddings too 😊
D. M.
Food was gorgeous and staff was all lovely, would so visit there again next time i am up thia way
B. W.
Came for some food and a drinks last night and it was lovely. The place was a little quiet but was made to feel safe and comfortable as this was the first time we have been out since lockdown. Will definitely be returning!
M. A.
Food was nice enough and it didn't take too long to arrive. Just felt very rushed by staff as we were constantly reminded (on arrival, during x2) that we only had the table for a certain amount of time (even though we left 20 mins before the designated time). Just made us feel on edge rather than relaxed sadly.
R. G.
Had the small carvery and was plenty to eat. All staff friendly and helpful. Would have given this five stars but unfortunately had to ask twice for the sweets we had ordered. Arrived 45 minutes later and my apple pie and custard was only tepid in temperature.
M. R.
Lovely food and excellent value, good staff too.
P. S. A.
Good value great food, why would a single man cook when it's this good
K. S.
Have never had a bad experience here, in the very many times we've visited - the staff are always wonderful and the food is always of the highest quality. Feel very lucky to have in walking distance!
L. P.
Lovely food and customer service, friendly staff. My husband and I came for a carvery this afternoon for the first time. The manager is very good at his job, he keeps it flowing nicely and is very approachable. He made sure our needs were met by making sure our vegetables had no dairy in them. I would highly recommend this place, good management very professional and great atmosphere.
A. p.
Lovely visit the other night! Staff were very welcoming, food was beaut, and a really good atmosphere all around!! Will be coming back for sure!
J. S.
Phoned late for a booking . Julie was so helpfull and sorted a table for us . We arrived early and was seated straight away . Everyone was so nice and helpfull. The choice on the cavery was great and the food was lovely . Would definetely recomend
R. B.
First time in a pub and Gildersome arms you have smashed it. The food (carvery) was just as good as ever. Service excellent. Don't know the young ladies name blond hair. Smiling all the time. Experience was excellent cant wait to go again.

It's not terribly grand or salubrious but it's a nice pub with a decent carvery and friendly staff. Better beer selection and I think I'd give it another star.
J. C.
Went for a carvery on Sunday 18th around 18-45. The waitress took our order of 2 carvery's but i noticed there was no beef joint alongside the Turkey and Gammon. I asked if they would be bringing more Beef out but was told no. Surely this should have been pointed out to us before we ordered? I decided to order something else while my partner stuck with the carvery of just 2 meats, but was not offered a discount for the missing 3rd meat! I ordered Steak and ale pie but the crust on top was rock hard and could'nt cut it so had to pick it up and eat it with my fingers, but the meat inside was very tender. So after looking forward to a carvery, was rather disapointed with our visit on this occasion...
j. m.
This was our first time in this pub since the refit now under Green King Breweries. Unfortunately the carvery was closed when we arrived but we ordered from the main daily menu and all three of us ordered differently. We all agreed that the food was excellent, the service spot on and they did not rush the desserts, which gave us time to appreciate what we'd had. Competitively priced so can't imagine anyone not enjoying eating out there. We'll certainly be going back to have the carvery which I'm sure will be just as good. Thank you for a very enjoyable visit.
C. O.
Good value for money. Even on a Sunday when they charge more (as do all carveries)
Plus unlike Toby carvery there's also a full pub grub menu for those who don't fancy a roast. Staff are all friendly and helpful and because it's big you can usually get a table.
G. W. B. G.
Some meals are really good, some are really poor. A real mish mash.
M. C.
Popped in on the way home from a weekend in the area and even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon, we were seated almost immediately, grabbed our carvery and were gone within 30 minutes. Food was lovely, but the main thing was the staff. So friendly and tentative. Would recommend to anyone
M. S.
Went for a long overdue carvery and really enjoyed it, staff were great. All new rules explained on arrival and very organised. Definitely a place we will come back to, keep up the good work 😊
A. H.
Staff were fantastic and very attentive. Food was great too. Very accommodating and helpful. Thanks you all made mums 80th a special day
j. p.
Really enjoyed the meal and the good service
D. H.
Absolutely fabulous place for food... Had a carvery, always plenty of food and choice... Social distancing measures in place and carried out perfectly... All tables, chairs and facilities were cleaned and sterile before and after use... Well done guys top class
C. T.
Been awhile since we'd been there, since lockdown, but we were well looked after by all of the staff. Reasonable prices and able to place our orders over the phone app. Only let down by a foursome being loud and disgusting with their table banter. No consideration for anyone including young children. Act your age not your shoe size! On the whole worth every penny
K. C.
5* for the food but the service was not attentive. We chose a bad day, there was a coach load in for lunch too. I recommend that you book in advance.
P. E.
Fantastic carvery! Came yesterday for lunch and even though I had to cue at the bar and the carvery it was worth it for sure.
S. a. B. C. C. L.
Got recommended to call here for food. Last time we went in was around 18 months ago. Wasn't that impressed. Called last night with some friends. Complete overhaul of the pub. Food was so nice, customer service was spot on too. Nice ales for those who like IPA. Will be calling again. And highly recommended. Your best booking a table to be safe.
P. W.
Much improved from previous management , staff welcoming ( even during this strange time) food has improved, but can be hit and miss . Consistency of food standards and the pub will be on a winner every week . The biggest improvement is the staff from the bar to the restaurant, so welcoming and friendly even from behind a plastic screen .
Keep up the good work Gildy Arms .
m. c.
Lovely and accommodating staff, great food and covid awareness was high. Been here a few times and one of my favourite places to eat.
C. H.
Lovely meal nice easy going staff on pressure to get finished, or rushed to order, only problem was no gas for draft beer
J. L.
This was a Greene king pub. Very nicely situated just off the M62. Went on a Sunday tea time. Felt quite busy but still plenty of tables available. we went for the carvery. 3 nice meats and all well cooked. There was a good selection of vegetables around 10 or 12 different, again all well cooked.
K. S.
Went for breakfast and I wasn't disappointed, well worth the money. Excellent service from a lovely lady called Julie too, will definitely be going back.
A. B.
The food was well cooked and tasted lovely. The flies buzzing around our heads and meals were not so enjoyable!
R. M.
We called in for a midweek carvery.
Very pleased with the food on offer.
3 meats, and lots of different veggies to go at
£6.59 each for a medium carvery was more than enough for us 2.
Good choice of normal ales
And a good few Real ales to go at.
T. M.
Husband's meal was nice but I had carvery which I found very disappointing. Undercooked roasts, dried out Yorkshire pudding and very watery mash. Stuffing wasn't mixed properly so was just a mound of powder in the centre and all the veg except the carrots and mushy peas were in a cheese sauce so not much variety. We used to come here all the time before the refurbishment and never had a problem but probably won't be coming again. Shame as the refurb is lovely.
B. R.
Although it was literally bang on the time they stop serving a carvery the refused to let us have one even though the carvery food was still out on display and would have literally taken five minutes to serve up two plates.
Dissapointed I wasnt able to have the carvery option.
I had to settle on a main from their standard menu.
I would recommend this place for their carvery, however not for their customer service.
The reason we weren't allowed to have a carvery is because the lady serving wanted to finish her shift earlier.
M. G.
It is always a pleasure to stumble across little diamonds like this.
A wonderfully straight forward and honest carvery pub. (We went for the carvery)
Food was fine with a great selection of veg, particularly recommend the roasted parsnips.
Decent hand pull beers, that you can tell they look after their lines.
But what stands out, shining, is the staff. Behind the bar they were pleasant and happy to suggest a decent ale.
Behind the carvery, again, very pleasant.
But on the floor, it's been many years since I've come across staff that are the epitomy of good service. Chatty, friendly, fun, professional and efficient. One lass in particular (long pony tail) who was absolutely spot on in her courteous and kind approach. That's what took what would have been a 4* to the 5*.
Great work, promote her to trainer and give her a raise
J. M.
Above and beyond. Thanks so much to the manager and the Australian member of staff. The food was as good as ever, but the best thing was the way they handled our taxi problem. We needed one with wheelchair access and we're struggling to find one. Thank you so much! My 94 year old grandma had a relaxing, lovely time .
P. V.
Great carvery friendly staff. Could do with introducing a decent queuing system though.
P. D.
The vegetables on the carvery were cold. However an extra star for the helpfulness of the staff
A. S.
Went here for a carvery and it was lovely. All the staff were so friendly. Really made my day. The whole group left commenting on what good service we had received. Will definitely be coming back.
M. S.
I asked for a table close to the toilet as I am a recent amputee and the staff were so helpful, polite just overall wonderful! Food is absolutely delicious! Definitely be returning soon!!!
P. H.
Nice food and staff. Just a quick note, website says they can't take bookings before 6pm on Sundays. When you get there, the tables are booked.
I would assume you book by calling directly, but if you don't you will have to give up your table quickly.
T. S.
Just amazing, compliments to chef best carvery by far, friendly staff always there to help and keep you informed on your other food ordered. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others ☺
S. D.
4 of us went to try the carvery. It was absolutely gorgous! So much veg/potatoes to choose from. Meat just melted in your mouth. Nice size yorkshire puddings. All nice and hot to eat when you sat down
Id highly recommend it!
R. S.
We booked for 8pm very quite for a Saturday. Only a handful of people in. So service was good very helpful. And the food was nice. We did come a few years ago but my son and wife ended up with unset stomach? But so far so good 😊 update it's been a few weeks and we are all good. 😁
R. M.
Really friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Food wise, reasonable, good solid pub food. I got a noodle salad which wasn't ideal but I should have chosen something more traditional and they should stick to making the more traditional pub food.
Great for kids. Worth a visit.
K. M.
Food wasnt as good as previous week, neither was lady serving us. Pirate ship was out of action. However staff were lovely
S. S.
Came in today with a party of 12. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The lads on the bar was very chatty, and welcoming( even if we are your rivals . M&B ;-) )
The girl who waited on us was lovely, very smiley and approachable. Not sure on her name, but began with a B. Looking at reviews on here I'm going to guess it was Brodie? Long hair.
1st time in about 6 years we've been in, and all who came enjoyed their meals. Especially the ice cream!
Will be returning. Thanks again guys x
J. W.
Lovely carvery, food was hot x
A. E.
We used to love coming here for quick meal value for money for the food you got. We have found over the years every time Fayre & Square changed the menu the value got slightly worse. With this new menu we have found is very limited to the point we now find going to witherspoons simply because they can't compete with drink prices. I do understand they need to compete but we find a good value meal was worth pay more for your drink.
L. B.
Excellent food and staff that go above and beyond. I want to specifically thank Steve and also Tom for rectifying a complaint efficiently. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was spot on!! Will definitely come back. Nice play area for the little ones too.
A. F.
Love this pub they do amazing Carvery. Sport shown on one side of pub in a relaxed well fitted area. Beer could be a little cheaper but worth it for surrounding. Plenty of choice with meals too and special nights quiz night on Wednesday and food specials too. With occasional live singer advertised too.
W. R.
Absolutely amazing food and staff, very polite and friendly will definitely be making this place our "go out for food" place from now on
A. R.
Amazing food as always and great service from staff and the manager who was very friendly and welcoming, will always be my first choice.
J. I.
Surprising how good the food was! I had a double Texas Jack burger. The burgers almost looked and tasted homeade! Would recommend!
A. P.
Very good . Decent pub good quick service. Arrived at 7.55 and carvery finishes at 8.00pm ,but they were willing to keep it open for the five of us. We ordered from pub menu and everyone was happy with there good. Would go again
L. J.
Recently moved to the area and we've just found this place. Squeezed us in last minute. Staff incredibly organised (for Covid) from the moment we walked in. Felt very safe. Every single member of staff was really friendly and the food was lovely. Absolutely stuffed when we left. We will be back. Thank you. This place deserves higher reviews! Lydia
A. B.
The carvery was delicious with large portions of meat and tasty Yorkshire pudding. The veg were unlimited. Also got cheesy ciabata which was well made.
The falafel burger was very dry tho and quite inedible. The order of the portion of chips was OK too. Both came very very late by which apetite and patience was gone.
The staff were courteous and place was clean and well maintained.
p. t.
Excellent food. Very clean restaurant. Staff very helpful and couldn't do enough to make our visit enjoyable. Carvery was delicious and plenty of choice. Will definitely be returning .
C. H.
Lovely food and nice pub service could be better only one till open for food and drinks. Meal when cold while trying to get some drinks

It's been about a year and a half since we last went to the Gildersome Arms, part of the Fayre & Square chain of pubs and what a vast improvement!
Since our visit before they now offer carvery which rivals another, local, market leader in that range. My son's small plate had so much meat on it that I wish I'd had a carvery!
The ordering experience is as you would expect from a more "pub" type, i.e. order and pay at the bar in advance, but all that means is no waiting around for the person serving you when you are ready to go.
Price wise, for 2 adults and 4 children, having mains and drinks only it came to £37, just over £6 each. For quality was great and was served piping hot - I burnt the roof of my mouth on the steak and ale pie at least 3 times.
Onto bad points.
We went when a football match was on which obviously comes with the cheers, shouting and swearing you would expect. We don't follow football and have 4 kids so needless to say we sat as far from it all as possible to minimise the impact on their young and impressionable ears - this is not a fault of the Gildersome Arms obviously, just the crowd it attracts.
We also managed to block a toilet on our visit. Again this is unlikely to be the fault of the place so these "bad points" can be argued our niggles only.
Look out Gildersome Arms - we are definitely coming back after this visit!!!

First visit since it changed hands, the carvery was great lots of choices and all hot, will definitely be going back. Thanks to Carla for looking after us. Great food and great prices certainly deserves 5 stars
C. C.
Food not hot enough and extremely stingy amount of chips with fish and with also with hunters chicken. No way would I describe it as a portion of chips. Disappointing
M. D.
Great wholesome food polite staff
A. U.
Food arrived quickly and was well cooked. Hunters chicken nice and juicy not dried up like some pub chains. Chicken tikka nice, not spicy. soft drinks expensive, all dearer than the beer.
Family pub, nice play area, noisy kids.
K. L. S.
Staff are friendly and they make you feel welcome. The sunday roasts use to be really bad. But my partner and i gave it another try 2 meals for £10 BEAUTIFUL. Such a big difference. The roasties are lovely and crunchy. Would recommend now. 10-10. 😊
W. H.
Now this place. The staff are amazing and especially one young man whom can't do enough to help you. Go enjoy and relax you'll return over and over.
J. H.
Not bad if wanting a meal on a budget.
L. H.
Lovely staff. Lovely food!
j. c.
Lovely well presented place. The carvery meal that my wife and I had was first class as was the service. Many thanks to Charlie and Luke, will definitely be visiting again !!!
B. 1.
Lovely to go with your family for a meal,
R. L.
Had a great time food and drink very reasonably priced very friendly atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
Dan one of the bar staff was really pleasant and helpful nothing seemed like too much trouble for him. A😃

Dec 2018 - Re-visited Gildersome Arms after a long absence to find a change of management and a much improved atmosphere. I do not seem to be the only one to notice the difference. The place was busier tonight on a mid-week Wednesday than they were on a peek day Saturday / Sunday before. Full marks to the new manager and assistant manager for leading from the front!
Aug 2018 - Just as the food was getting better again and getting use to the refurbishment, then the pleasure of going there is spoilt by perents that think that having kids running around screaming and a management that has no backbone to maintain order. Now don't get me wrong, kids should be able to play, and there is a good play area outside, however if families think that it is there right to eat it peace and then disrupt everyone else afterward then that is pure antisocial behaviour and management should stop it. Boycotting this pub for a while. There are plenty of other places to eat.
Jan 2018 - What has happened to the Gildersome Arms?
We have visited twice recently and the food standards have dropped through the floor. The food being served is tepid at best and when this was returned we where treated to a quick re-heat. Other diners where complaining of the same poor standards. This is just not good enough. We will be eating elsewhere for a few month in the hope that in improves in the future.

Friendly staff and good place for family get-together. Popular for birthdays and after wedding parties. smallish play area with pirate ship through the rear doors.
Parking is easy and there are 3 disabled parking spots. Good access for wheel chairs.
Food is well served and there are usually offers on. The offers change over time so you will need to check.
R. B.
Food was perfect.
Unfortunately dessert took over 45 minutes to arrive. Miraculously it arrived after i asked to see the manager. By which time we were past it.
Seemed very short of staff
P. S.
Empty when we called at 1.30pm during the week. Carvery value was good.
T. W.
The food is just not great. It's not terrible but it's not good enough.
Hunters chicken with no sauce or cheese as an example. Having to ask for the sauce and wait way too long for a small pot of sauce.
Have been regular visitors for years now but the food seems to have got worse to the point we won't be going again.
p. s.
Great meeting venue and value for money
D. C.
Place was nice service a bit slow food portions ok but veg cold.
S. T.
Had a great meal again. We take my 90 year old mother in law (who can eat). the access is great as she needs her sticks to walk. The staff were absolutely brilliant as they were were at Christmas thank you
K. D.
Great food and very helpful staff xx
S. T.
Food was nice, toilets were disgusting. Worst part was the customers though, now I'm not posh but saying C#@t and F#!k loudly in front of your own kids and other customers was common place. Not the restaurants fault but not a nice atmosphere.
A. W.
New year's Day it was quiet initially but that was our good luck as we got there early. We had the carvery which had more than enough meat etc and the food was great as more people arrived there was a nice atmosphere and a good time was had by all
R. S.
Great meal out with family, staff very much appreciated for what they do
K. A.
We went today at 5.45 for a carvery we were treated very well the waitress was lovely and the young chef was very helpful and the food was hot a very good experience
R. B.
Had the Sunday carvery the food was very tasty we had the turkey only down side the veg could have been a bit hotter seemed to have been standing for awhile otherwise we enjoyed would we call again maybe but don't know if we would have the carvery
C. C.
The food was very good and the portions were generous it was very busy but the service excellent staff were very helpful. There was plenty of parking for everyone, and the washroom facilities good and disable friendly
C. T.
Brilliant village pub great staff. Lived in Gildy 22 years and the people who have it are the best yet. Doing a brilliant job making the place Covid Safe.
m. g.
Very nice meal off the menu carvery looked good too maybe next time for that landlord/manager Steve introduced himself at the bar as we ordered nice touch food was not long coming well cooked and presented good service adds up to enough for us to say we will be back in the near future .
d. b.
Superb service, superb staff, 100% covid friendly, cleaning was great, table service was fast and friendly, had Xmas Dinner boy might see how many I get eat before Christmas. Really pleased,
k. m.
Nice large pub. Staff very friendly and good food. We had the scampi which was lovely and it was 15 pieces so it was plenty. We will return when we are in the area
L. M.
Tasty food Decent priced an a Good selection from the Carvery
P. R.
Party of 11 , the food ,service, were all excellent. I personally had a carvery meal & because of my gluten intolerance was provided with gluten free alternatives & above all was great value for money.
R. D.
£5 for a small plate car dry was good. Abbot ale well kept. Not enough bar staff, had to wait quite a bit to be served.
R. N.
Really good food and a nice welcome.
B. P.
I went on the Tuesday 30th August 2016.Very nice food was amazing and had good prices. The staff are really nice as well. They also have a pirate ship for little kids to go on.Only problem was that they took a bit of time but not too long that we was annoyed it took so long or we got bored waiting. But overall recommend going here as it was very nice and would definitely go back soon as in a week or so.5 stars.
L. B.
This place can't even cook broccoli or carrots, they coat it some kind of spice which makes them tatse weird. Veg is perfect fine just served fresh and well cooked. Who ever thought covering everything in a nasty tasting spice should be slapped. If I want spice on veg I'll add my own thanks, that's what condemants are for.
m. g.
Ten family members had the carvery here today and my grandson chose from the kids menu......It was a lovely experience with tasty cooked meats from the carvery...We never felt pressured or rushed and kept our table @ leisure.Would definitely recommend.....
D. W.
Good value for money...I had the carvery. The beef and gammon were beautifully tender. A good assortment of vegetables. Unfortunately the gravy let the meal down.
M. H.
Good meals and friendly staff
N. S.
Went yesterday not as good as it used to be. My partners chips on his meal was under cooked and cold. I had carvery that was ok but nothing to write home about
K. F.
Loved it cooked exactly how I wanted didnt put any unwanteds on my plate also didnt try ripping us off with a pud that's no bigger than a kids pud but triple the price good and honest place 👍👍
d.
Great staff. Met if not exceeded my expectations. Visited a couple of hours before the England match. Couldn't stay for it unfortunately. Best experience with bar staff in along time.

w. f.
Brilliant Carvery, loved it.
F. L.
Nice had a good knee trembler in the toilets
P. F.
Fantastic waitress. Her supervisor was getting involved with our table towards the end of our meal and messed up her rhythm but she handled it well and stayed calm with an apologetic smile.
P. M.
Friendly staff if prone to disappearing and leaving you waiting.
Food is spot on esp.carvery and also serve kids food at a temp they can eat it rather than bringing it straight out piping hot
R. E.

Good food (especially the carvery) and very good value. Nice and clean decor. Staff are really polite, friendly, and helpful.
L. W.
Very nice carvery and value for money. Only thing I wud say is some of the seating is a bit cramped so when busy literally sat on top of each other.
S. C.
We only called for a drink. But have had Sunday lunch there in the past and it was ok
j. f.
Been a regular over years but it's got worse as time went in portions smaller and don't think chefs are trained as I sent steak back twice ended up leaving hungry staff were helpful tried to resolve matter but didn't help as once order wrong it spoiks meals

Food was lovely but most of the staff looked like they couldn't be bothered and onexwas even tryingvto flirt badly with the bar staff
H.
Food was spot on, and consistently is, service was much the same, and to top it all off we weren't even waiting too long to eat either, even though it seemed to be quite the busy day.
H. V.
Lovely staff nice clean please not a fan of the new menu. Tables past the kitchen entrance for large family's are too close together not slot of room for people to sit
