A warm welcome awaits you... Literally. On a cold January Sunday we sat by a roaring fire and satisfied our hunger with a three course Sunday lunch. The service was fast, and the staff were attentive. Our orders for food and drink were both 100% accurate, and the food was delicious. We will definitely return as the value and atmosphere were great. There is a free car park for customers located at the rear of the property.

Hot day, we pulled in here to give the dogs a rest and get a cool drink. People were at tables outside, pleasant atmosphere, the dogs were welcome and given water. Inside was nice, not busy and it felt spacious. We had a drink and dessert 🍨. Nice place, clean toilets, pleasant and friendly 😊. We'll definitely go again.

Absolutely lovely food and drinks, good atmosphere and nice staff. Couldn’t fault it at all. The only thing I would say was a negative was the liqueur coffee that we ordered. Firstly I have never had a liqueur coffee served in a cup and second never ever with milk. It should be cream. Went and asked for some cream which when I got ut the coffee was cold. So wasn’t drunk was offered another coffee which I declined as I didn’t want another coffee that wasn’t made properly. Like I said the food was lovely as were the drinks. The only thing was the horrible liqueur coffee.

Called in at lunch today for a quick bite to eat. Pleasant staff and a nice place to spend an hour or two. Food was very nice and served in a timely manner. Fair prices too.

Large party of 8.. 5 adults..three children under 15..2 big dogs..accommodated beautifully in an out of the way area..food excellent..no long wait for food despite pub being busy..fabulous waitress...a wonderful night for our grandsons 13th birthday...well worth a visit...we will definitely be returning.

Only 3 gluten-free meals off the whole menu. The rest are typical pub grub, nothing special, except the staff who are great. Ember Inns need to get their menu sorted, looks fine but the quality of the food is rubbish.

From first initial phone enquiry to the day of my fathers funeral 'tea' nothing was too much trouble. The managers were so attentive, before, during and after. Very covid aware/secure. The buffet food was first class, table service for drinks, certainly made a very emotional day much easier. Highly recommend. Excellent service.

Had Sunday lunch yesterday, was fairly average at best, Turkey was so thinly cut was like sandwich meat and roast potatoes were fairly terrible as well. The prices and drinks were fine but wont be going for food again anytime soon.

Nice pub for a drink. Food was nothing but average at most and we had 4 different courses. One chef was apparently off sick so it was a huge pressure on the one there. Great job of the bar staff who was there alone serving drinks and food to all.

We are new to the area and thought we would try out what appears to be our new local. well, we have found it!! As we walked up to the bar we were greeted and provided with small talk as they poured our drinks. They were knowable on the products and helpful. We decided to stay for food. we couldn't believe how cheap the prices were for what you get. don't get me wrong, it was no fine restaurant quality, but when pretty much all mains are between £4-£10 you really cannot go wrong. My mixed grill was cooked really well and my wife really enjoyed her curry. Very tasty for chain pub grub and nicely presented. We were kept warm by a big wooden burning real fire. it added such atmosphere. we will defiantly be coming back

We love it here. The staff are always helpful and welcoming. They happily swap things on meals that you don’t like. You can have a joke at the bar with them, especially jamie and Mel, they will talk about you day and make you laugh. Food is generally quickly served to you and of a good quality. The beer is always nice and my favourite gin goes down a treat every time.

Food is fantastic. Great value. Clean surrounding. Good atmosphere. I ordered the chargrilled chicken burger with sweet potato fries and was delighted with how well-cooked the chicken was. Not your usual dry, over-cooked, pub chicken, this was just perfect and juicy.

I’ve eaten at this pub for 20 years & I’ve previously worked here many moons ago..... it is always a recommend place to eat to my friends and family but last night i felt massively let down. The food wait was way to long for both starters and mains. We ordered drinks when the starter plates were taken away and 20mins later when the mains eventually came out the drinks still hadn’t arrived so we had to ask the very overworked waitress for the drinks again. My steak was ordered medium/rare but came out well done No check-back was done and tbh i didn’t dare say anything about the state or steak as i didn’t want to wait another half an hour for a steak i’d ordered medium/rare and hour previous. All in all it wasn’t a great visit and it is going to be a while before i visit again. Covid wise they are on point but it’s BAU they need to look at.

The Dexter pub hosted my baby shower at the weekend and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff were really attentive to the party and the buffet menu was absolutely delicious. We were also given a really nice quiet area of the pub so we were not disturbed by other customers 😁 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Perfectly decent local pub, part of a chain. Beer reasonably priced with different cask ales regularly and CAMRA discount. Food is good, decent value particularly Sunday lunch with good portions, it's not going to blow your socks off but for a standard Sunday lunch or bite to eat it's good. Always a fair few people on most nights.

CHRISTMAS DAY amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious. The service was quick and friendly. The people behind the bar made us laugh while we were getting our drinks. They had even hand made activity sheets for the children to keep them occupied and a handwritten card for the family. Amazing value and wonderfully organised. Cannot recommend this place more. All the other tables around us were also happy and I could here compliments coming from other families as well. Thank you

We’ve been coming here ages and have always enjoyed it. The staff are always welcoming and friendly with you. There’s a few of them that you can have a really good laugh with. They all seem to get on and actually enjoy working together. I drink cask ale here as it’s some of the clearest you can find around. I often see them cleaning the lines. And you can really taste the difference.

We come here fairly regularly now. Food is of a good value, cooked well and nicely presented. The staff are always helpful, friendly and interactive. A few of them are quite the comedians and always make myself and my wife chuckle. One lad especially, who’s worked there years, practically has your order ready on the bar for you as you walk through the door and always remembers your name. The pub it’s self is always clean, tidy and well maintained. They even had a dog friendly section for all the dog walkers that frequent the surrounding parks and fields. During winter they have three well received fires lit and during summer the garden is decorated with table flowers. I cannot fault this local pub in the heart of shadwell. Mr Colm

Have just had my father in laws 90th birthday here. The staff were excellent and the food was great. Would have been 5 stars but the children's veggie sticks and hummus was just celery and what 5 year old eats celery :). Many thanks to all who made it such a lovely lunch for us.

The food is mediocre to say the least but it's not a place I'd choose to eat unless you wanted plastic chicken and reheated frozen bits, you get what you pay for here. This is basically a very good local pub. You can get a decent meal here, in nice surroundings worth a rather nice selection of local beers. There's more than just the old standards here; yes, you can drink Tetleys, but the Landlord from Tim Taylor is much better. All in all, this is a thoroughly nice pub.

Great selection of ales which are regularly rotated. Prices are pretty standard. Plenty of seating and a family dining area for those with children. I haven't had the food there for a bit so can't comment on that. Plenty of parking and friendly, attentive staff.

Went for lunch with son. Warm welcome, friendly staff. Was busy for a mothers day but got a lovely table and staff welcoming. I had the soup of the day and crusty bread and Trio of meat sunday roast lunch. Both were fabulous and really tasty with good portion sizes. Son had prawn cocktail and the mixed grill. Both meals were fabulous. Couldnt fit in a dessert sadly. But they did look fabulous from what i saw others having. Would definately recommend. Prices were really really reasonable.

Large pub and restaurant. Handled our large group (15 people) with ease. Menus on the tables, you go and order and pay at the bar then your food is brought to you. Staff friendly and helpful. Good selection of food at reasonable prices.

Well located pub at the end of Wigton Lane. Good choice of drinks and food is decent too. Large car park, so no problems parking, and nice outdoor seating when the weather is kind. An Ember Inn, with all the usual facilities making it a decent local choice.

Enormous flag outside saying vegan and veggie stuff but after our meal tried to get a cup of tea & a plant based alternative milk and was told they only do 'normal' milk. Bit of a need here then for staff training on terminology plus follow through then on vegan options & really think it through not just jump on the bandwagon with a few meals. I did email The Dexter twice about this but unfortunately got no response.

Although this would be classed as my local pub, being a non drinker, I only visit occasionally and then it's for the food. My friend and I went today and we both picked the fish and chips option. We asked for garden peas instead of mushy and that was done. Sadly the fish was only so-so. Having been spoilt with the fish from places like the Wetherby Whaler and Skipton's Bizzie Lizzie's, the Dexter fish was a poor substitute. The batter was "solid" and the fish had that paste consistency I dislike. Everything else was fine and going at 1pm on a Tuesday meant few customers and fast service. No one ever came to ask if everything was ok so another star gets dropped for that. The menu is extensive and a passing customer who upon leaving came to ask us about the fish, said her pasta meal was lovely so.... The decor is open and welcoming with plenty of little nooks for privacy (at quiet times only I'd think) and parking is not an issue. Prices are less than average considering the pub's location in this affluent part of Leeds but as far as the fish and chips go, I'd rather pay more for better quality.

Went on a sunday, had the roast pork dish as part of their sunday roast meal. I thought it was brilliant. We sat there by the warm roasting fire, considering we were just driving through and stopped for a toilet break, we were really pleased and loved the interior so we stayed for lunch. Ended up being there for 2 hours or so. Kind and welcoming staff, not too busy. They probably shouldn't leave all their promotional material around advertising the £5 for 2 meals during the week, this made us feel like we could have gotten a better deal if it wasn't sunday, but the food was so good that it didnt matter.

The Dexter is one of the very few pubs i go to. It's not like a pub is like being at home. The ambiance thevtge best out of all the pubs I've been to in Leeds. The service is great, the foid is awesome. I organised a surprise 60th birthday for my partner there and they did an amazing job. All our friends loved it and some have gine back and others will be going back.

Great service, been a few times, just a pity Ember Inns weren't offering the prosecco offer at The Dexter which they did for another of their inns/pubs after we had been in for my birthday. Never had a bad experience at The Dexter, happy to return to The Dexter anytime.
