Reviews of The Hedley Verity - Lloyds No.1 Bar
P.
In two words; It's weatherspoon!
Don't get me wrong, good place to stop for a pint, food it's a different story, it's cheap, very cheap! You can't expect quality, it's just note going to happen. Deserts however are nice!
On our last visit we ordered 2 pitchers of SOTB, they just brought the pitchers and straws, no glasses 🤣
J. D.
Great Wetherspoons. Is much bigger on the inside and spans 2 floors. Well laid out. Great facilities as there are multiple toilets upstairs as well as a bar. Visited on a Saturday and was mega busy but service was still fairly good considering.
i. j.
Too many rowdy young people here. Ladies toilets are not good here in fact filthy. God knows what some of these women's homes are like.
Good that the bar opens till 01.00hrs great after being at the Rod Stewart concert. The security were nice guys.
L. O.
Great pub and had dining areas on different levels and also upstairs area.
It wasn't very far from First Direct Arena in Leeds.
I had Steak and chips and the steak was quite big and really nice.
V. H.
Was relatively quiet on a Friday lunchtime but I know it can get rather busy later on. Had the new halloumi style burger which was delicious. Friendly staff and well looked after premises.
J. T.
Tasty food and efficient service in the evening I was here. Also great to see it having live entertainment with a pub quiz which would be good to see at many more Werherspoons' along with music, to brighten their appeal. Would be five star if the following morning, the full cooked breakfast had butter with the toast, and the fried eggs hadn't been solid and if the sausages hadn't tasted either refried or cooked in re-used fat. But value for money remains strong.
B. C.
Went in recently during the world cup, to find a big crowd, managed to find a table near the bar, where there was a great selection of beers and lagers, we ordered food and didn't have long to wait, on arrival it was hot and good quality.
M. A.
As with all ‘spoons, you get your food quick but could do with being actually hotter.
Was nice and clean, staff okay too.
E. P. W. (.
All the Spoons in Leeds are very good and individual. This one is on 2 floors and quite large. A beautiful building, as many are, and very attentive staff
N. B.
Toilets are naff for disabled people,1st go,2nd go to bar ask for key,3rd wait(must i mm peeing myself here)and finally go with barperson to said toilet and given instructions how to leave it open so patrons didnt keep asking at the bar for the key,now open for use for non disabled peeps causing queues for disabled people who urgently need it,not going back
I. C.
Back again to this great Wetherspoons pub, with friendly staff offering good service at great prices. Will definitely be back yet again in the very near future
l. m.
Me and my partner have both came in here in the day for food and at night for drinks and dancing. The food is delicious and the drinks taste great and always have done. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and make us feel comfortable every time we come here. My partner really likes the cocktails when we come for a night out and not too over priced either. Overall great place for cheap and tasty food and cheap drinks
E. A.
Popped in before a gig and grabbed a pint and a quick bite. It's a wetherspoons, so you know what you're going to get. I had the 'Beyond Burger' with a large bottle of Hazy Jane and it came in under £10. Service was good, place was clean and plenty of space so our large group could find a table pretty easily.
Second trip, went after the cinema and had a few pints of Leffe and a curry. Again, food was tasty, beer was nice, can't complain at the price. The wetgerspoons magazine is an interesting thing - mix of the proprietor cherry picking newspaper articles and shouting at the sky stuff, along with smily faces at new spoons!
E. W.
Great breakfast at good value - you can really taste the grill on the bacon, with a perfect crispy ratio
T. M.
You will always find a seat. Also, very fast service from the minute you complete your order online. I think their prices are reasonable too.
H. a. D. B.
Classic 'spoons. Efficient staff, decent food and beer, great prices. Large pub with plenty of seating. Generally clean and tidy.
D. W.
We called in here twice whilst spending time here for a concert. It is a Wetherspoons pub and they have the same standards everywhere but this was well worth a mention as the staff here were quite exceptional and made our visits a little more special and even though the clientele were of a wide range of ages all were treated exactly the same which is good to see. The food we ordered came to us hot and well presented. A very nice place to visit and we will do so again when back in the area.
L. C.
Frank, Rob & James were absolutely amazing! Fantastic customer service, clearing up after tipsy accidents by our group :) great members of staff + should be praised as such! <3
C. R.
I've been coming here for years, usually after work on a Thursday place but not limited to just that any more.
Lovely and spacious, I tend to like the smaller seat and chairs rather than the high tables and stools when its not to busy, wish there was more of these but all that aside, a place to look forward to coming, with a nice selection of wines and beers and friendly hard working staff.
Easy five out of five for me.
G. M.
Usually great value, good selection of beers and food, perfect place to visit.
a.
The Hedley always gets it right and is always my Wetherspoons of choice when I'm travelling via Leeds. You will always get a seat even during busier times as it has a huge upstairs. Food is always top quality, and everything else comes as you would expect. Cheap food and beer, fast service and sticky tables. The building itself is one of the prettiest as well. Shame most people see it through blurred eyes ;)
T. B.
Ample seating inside, staff were great and very quick with all our orders even though we were 3 tables (about 13 people) and they were all nice. Food was very reasonably priced and good deals on drinks.
D. G.
Always a good atmosphere, and friendly staff. Quick service and cheap drinks, which is always a bonus. Plenty of space to sit both inside and outside.
T. W.
Had breakfast in here, arrived quickly and was as good as any other Wetherspoons. Pleased we ate here rather than our hotel as it was much cheaper.
S. B.
Lovely old building two levels lots of room still a Lloyds No 1 bar but music was bloody awful but it has character that's worth a extra point.
C. L.
Used to be the go to, honestly one of the better wetherspoons. Only changed because my friend started working at the Cuthbert.
Usual wetherspoons nothing bad to say.
Although I did have a guy thinking I was his friend in the toilet. Awkward moment when he pops his head over the cubicle.
B. S.
At some point on a Friday and Saturday night this spoons starts bouncing, with flashing lights and the latest pop classics blasting out which creates a good vibe. The lure of cheap shots and pitchers means the queue at the bar is consistently 4 or 5 deep.
A. G.
Had a good evening in there until somebody snapped a steak knife and decided to throw it over the balcony to where our party was stood, luckily it missed us by inches. Still well recommended tho
C. S.
Nice place, but 2 of our 3 burgers were quite cold and the buns just fell to pieces when eating. Not fresh
D. R. (.
Amazing always good prices I love there food amd plus drinks are cheap compared to other pubs
D. S.
The Best Wetherspoons in Leeds. I like that it's named after a famous Yorkshire cricketer. Free WiFi and a decent range of craft beer. Food was consistently good here, I ate here 3 times
J. D.
Visited on Sunday 27th November. Had the Christmas lunch unfortunately the picture on the menu does not reflect what comes on the plate
T. R.
Massive pub, great atmosphere, been before and will go again.
D. W.
Great wetherspoon. We had a drink here after shopping and walking round Leeds. Plenty of space inside on a Sunday afternoon!
G. S.
Wetherspoons decent enough clean inside service was good and cheap as you expect
C. O. (.
Well that was great. Chips where a tad on the not so good side but the main dish was something else. Plus 2 pitchers of that good alcoholic beverage. What could go wrong
P. W.
What a fantastic building its worth going in for a look round, food is brilliant, beer/larger etc is cheap as you would expect from a wetherspoons, staff are helpful and friendly its definitely worth a visit.
B. D.
For drinks and a casual bar to hang out at? Sure, it's alright. Decent with their bingo events and whatnot. It's a good night out for after dinner.
For food? Absolutely not.
My burger bun was cold, and tasted like cardboard. My chips tasted like nothing. The only thing I liked was the burger, which doesn't really mean anything since it's a vegan Beyond Burger, so it came from packaging anyway.
S. B.
Walked in & looked pleasant enough but, unfortunately very dirty tables and seating. Staff was attentive & friendly and enjoyed my lunch.
I feel they need ro pay more attention to the look and state of the place also as hygiene should be also at the forefront of the establishment, especially where serving food as well as beverages.
K. M.
Better than expected food. Place was busy but staff did a fine job keeping ontop of it all. Beer was ok but not great(ale)
D. W.
Bar wasn't busy and was left waiting for 10 minutes to make an order. Bartender needs training on how to pour drinks.
P. H.
Slightly old fashioned pub, downstairs a bit canteen like, but upstairs a lot better. Good choice of drinks, bar staff were very perfunctory and prompt.
M. E.
The portion size was generous. :)
D. J.
Mixed grill cooked to my liking , much quieter than the other 2 in Leeds,
D. M.
Very large Wetherspoon pub excellent breakfast.
Close to my hotel.
C. M.
Nicer than usual wetherspoons. Nice addition to Leeds.
S.
Fantastic place for students. Super nice vibe, free water on site which was handy during heatwave!!
K. M.
Nice cheap drink nice and clean. The bar staff was very friendly but the small man in the shirt talks to guests like dirt.
A. P.
Beautiful place.. Food the worst ive had i a long time
C. F.
First time had been to this Wetherspoons in Leeds Centre..didn't know it existed. Was very impressed, much roomier than the others and more ideal for families. Will definitely be going there again
R. W.
This was a very nice building, on multi levels. Secluded little areas compliment the larger ones.
M.
Biggest and best wetherspoons in Leeds. Plenty of seating on two floors, food and drinks were excellent, would visit again !
S. G.
Good food and drinks at affordable prices, with a range of changing vibes: pub and restaurant by day and a club-like atmosphere in the evening (on certain days).
H. R.
Absolutely beautiful building. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. cant wait to go back. Called in for food before going to the first direct arena. Only 5 minutes away... great place...
J. G.
Service was quite slow & no glasses were brought for the bottled drinks. The food war as usual for Witherspoon's very nice. I am a fan of weatherspoons & am rarely disappointed but I was left very unsatisfied by the service
J. N.
Came in with the kids before a show nearby for a bite to eat. Bit cramped as the upstairs was shut and downstairs was busy but still got seated.
Half of the menu was unavailable but that could be wider supply chain issues (get used to that as capitalism slowly collapses).
Staff were nice and obviously rushed off their feet!
H. B.
Great pub, food was good - drinks were great price as per for Spoons.
Nice atmosphere
H.
Always a great place for a night out, awesome music and great atmosphere!! Highly recommended! For days it's great and affordable for food as it is a wetherspoons so it is at wetherspoon standards.
J. V.
It's a Wetherspoons but they had music on, so not great for having a chat like it is usually.
P. G.
During the day time it's fine but nights can be busy.
M. B.
Struggled constantly for phone signal. Only issue, decent weatherspoons
B. R.
Another great Wetherspoons establishment. Beautiful building on two floors. Lots of dark wood and well presented and well stocked bars.
Very helpful and friendly staff and as in all Wetherspoons pubs choice of food wide and tasty.
Prices as always very competitive.
Small outside area is always popular.
B. M.
Very good....fish and chips great.
D. S.
Really clean friendly staff good deals nice outside seating
J. B.
Big enough to find a quiet space. Food well cooked and delivered promptly. Not a large enough range of beer available when we were there.
H. T.
Great for pre drinks before nights out in Leeds or even for a quick stop off for something to eat during the day. Can't really argue with drinks prices at spoons.
W. H.
Downside to wetherspoons is the menu. Our local takeaway has better selection. Don't get me wrong the food is good and the price is reasonable. I meet up with my kids and they like it. The menu never changes.
J. E.
Great refurb, excellent range of cheap real ales
n. w.
Busy, but short measure on pints.
T. S. P.
Data reception is awful and it's môre like a nightclub lol
J. H. (.
Great atmospheric place. Always busy so just be aware when finding a table or waiting times. Food is amazing just like the drinks. Highly recommended.
D. H.
Love being bk there and it was gd to see staff cleaning one staff member that surved us was cleaning tables door handles and hand rails as well really gd to see
S. C.
This is a nice pub. Had a mid morning breakfast that was excellent value and was well cooked. Tra and coffee and soft drinks on repeat when a meal is bought.
S.
2 meals, 4 pints under £22 - each meals been as good if not better than any of the more expensive food chains
A. W.
Love this spoons. The atmosphere is great and it’s always really busy but never in a bad way (unless you can’t find a seat). I can highly praise the chefs here because in comparison to all the other spoons in the UK I’ve been to, this one has the best food. Somehow they’ve just mastered the pizza and made it totally different to other spoons. Honestly so tasty and I couldn’t get enough! Also been here drinking and as with most spoons the prices were great and the drinks were really nice. I highly recommend coming here!
S. O.
Large pub near university, but quiet when we stopped in for lunch. Good selection of beers, including real ales. Excellent fish and chips and friendly service!
L. H.
Good atmosphere xxx great value
N. D.
Loved it nice atmosphere great food
D.
Beer ok , cheap staff friendly
A. B.
Not been in for a while but the improvements are very noticable...food was very enjoyable juicy flamegrilled burgers..the staff were lovely and very attentive
P. M.
Great wetherspoon pub, beer and a meal were excellent, opposite the Merrion centre in central Leeds, I like the layout and the local cricket legend it's named after, like all of the companies pubs great value for money and polite helpful staff.
A. M. F.
Typical weatherspoon bar.
Food was cold, which was unfortunate as it actually tasted very nice (pasta dish.) Nice interior, and clean to a high standard.
L. L.
Good selection of beers and excellent quality of the food the portions are massive so don't order two mutch.
L. T.
A bit boring for Halloween. Drinks are cheap but still expensive compared to other Wetherspoons’. Dead atmosphere but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt as other nights are generally quite lively
A. D.
Relaxed atmosphere, nice staff and good food.
J. T.
A nice and friendly place and delicious food
C. B.
Huge pub, massive, loads of places to sit although still always nearly full. The staff clear tables quickly ready for the next people. I ordered food and it came incredibly quickly, I'd barely sat down before it came, excellent service. Lots of bars and service is fast. Nice and warm in this cold winter weather too! Cheap prices as always with weatherspoons
J. A.
Always far too busy in here and too loud there was 6 of us and they forgot one of our orders completely so they had to refund us they said they can't just bring us the food out that we waited half hour for then they brought over some shots but didn't ID any of us so we could of been 17 because nobody asked us for ID once and there was no security on the door like normal
M. V. (.
Went for a few pints on a Saturday afternoon. The pub is quite big with two floors and plenty of places to sit. Had a nice atmosphere and the staff were nice.
R. E.
We had fish chips and mushy peas but afraid to say not hot. Must be the first Wetherspoons to run out of Tartar sauce. We do like this place but let down this time may have to try one of the other two Wetherspoons next time.
d. S.
Always good, very nice cheap price. Also they do food and live music on a weekend, check to see when its on.
K. m. R.
A regular with and without the kids when we visit Leeds. It is child friendly. Food is always good. Only had one bad experience but it was sorted out straight away. Dietary needs are catered for. Staff are friendly and polite. Atmosphere is great. Deco is nice and clean. Would recommend to make a visit
S. R.
Great location and value superb plus great service
R. V.
Best pub in leeds on a weekday Monday/Wednesday night me and my housemates love it. If you’re young Avoid on a weekend though it’s a boring old man pub. The staff are really nice.
G. P.
Top notch for a spoons, quick delivery of drinks at unbeatable prices I mean 1.50 for a bottle beer cant go wrong, and the building itself is very unique
I. C.
Big pub frequented mainly by students
M. R.
TEENAGERS AND STUDENTS PLACE TO CHILL,ALL WITH THE STICKY CARPETS YOU WOULD EXPECT,FOOD WAS OK THOUGH
L. L.
Good 'central' position is this Wetherspoons. Right opposite Morrisons on the road leading up to the University.
Not much outdoor seating, but adequate. Inside looks a little 'worn', and with the new Wetherspoons opening just a few weeks ago, at the top end of the Merrion Centre, it is now a lot quieter than it has been before.
Just your average Wetherspoons really .. Nothing really to 'gush' about.
S. m.
Typical spoons but this one not enough stafff behind bar
S. P.
John Smith didn't taste like John Smith like cuthbert brodrick, female staff a bit more helpful put vodka in whisky tumbler which was nice, but the second one tasted a bit sweet but the male staff was not interested in changing it.
A. F.
If it’s your type of place, then this is the best Wetherspoons in the centre of Leeds. Typical huge selection of food and drinks. Beer is usually very good and there are two bars to choose from. Outside smoking area with tables and chairs, disabled access and toilet, and lots of space.
M. F.
Good price hot drinks.
R. J.
Good service and comfortable place to meet friends
F. R.
Breakfasts tend to get cold halfway through.
K. O.
For me, one of the best pubs in town. You know what you get when you order your food and it's a good price. Same with the drinks. I would recommend this place to any age. A nice relaxing pub during the day and a big dance floor at night with booming music.
A. W.
A surprisingly large pub offering the typical Wetherspoons menu. The tables are stickier than the ideal, and of the meals we had, it would be better to have some vegetables with the steak. The gammon was very palatable, however, and the rest of the experience was good. The staff seemed helpful and it was a very good value for money.
C. C.
Typical Spoons. Great prices (for a town pub).
Average service, Average decor.
Quieter today, considering the good weather.
T. M.
Great place. Lovely area upstairs to chill in without losing the atmosphere. Prices good. Food looked delicious but didn't have any as was after 11 when we arrived. Enjoy people x
H. B.
Good food, reasonable prices and lots of choice for drinks
H.
Visited the other day with some friends and was served by a staff member named Beth who was very friendly and lovely! It was really busy so it took a while to get drinks, but it was great other than that!
H. C.
Cheap and cheerful. Quick food service, food was basic, but good.
Drinks were made quickly.
Quiet and a good place for a catch up on a Wednesday.
Can be busy during term times, especially at the weekends.
Lots of space, and an upstairs bar.
J. C.
Cheap and cheerful Weatherspoons bar. Always very busy but with enough bar staff that you won't be kept waiting. Turns in to a bit of a meat market on a Friday and Saturday night, but adequately pleasant throughout the week. Have been a fair few times for food and it's always reasonably well made by Weatherspoons standards. Bar staff are always friendly and polite.
G. C.
Great friendly service.. absolute value for money.
A. G.
Good beer and friendly staff 👍👍
J. A.
Not a bad wetherspoons close to Leeds City centre worth a visit
S. C.
Been a few times. It gets really busy which does reflect on the service. When we arrived there tables that needed clearing. The vegan and vegetarian menu is confusing because this venue doesn't stock many of the meals on it. The person at the bar who took my order was very helpful though and did go to the kitchen to find out what they did do.
M. S.
Avoid eating there at all cost. The pizza is ok. The burgers and anything else however will kill your vibe.
M. S.
Nice spoons can actually cook a steak
g.
An up market wetherspoon pub but still pretty decent on price
S. C.
Called in lunch time for Friday fish and chips. Plenty of room, staff attentive and efficient, food arrived quickly, better than average quality. Atmosphere great, feels like a vast Victorian cathedral upstairs. Will definitely call again.
L. T.
Visited on a Thursday evening for a meal and drinks - had a great time. I had the jacket potato with cheese from the Gluten Free Menu 👍. Went back the following evening to find the place completely different. Couldn't even speak to each other. Left and went to Frankie & Benny's instead.
C. J.
The staff here are, each and everyone of them are top draw. I mean on the ball dealing with que's with incredible efficiency. Great atmosphere and famously friendly. A great place to have drink. Not tried the food as yet but a place I would happily dine at.
M. B.
Called for a drink and something to eat before a gig at the Grand theatre. Good food and beer, and cheap, what's not to like? Thanks 😊
U. B.
Very nice staff cheap beers
A. T.
Fair enough spoons. Been to better, definitely been to worse, good for a quick bite or a timekiller, would probably choose the stick or twist just down the road if I had the choice though
T. G.
Nice atmosphere,great staff
B.
This is your standard Wetherspoons but the food served is actually really good in comparison to other places. Always good during the day for a quiet lunch, although the evenings it does tend to get loud as they begin to open up the dance floor.
T. B.
Food is OK, but the bacon on the BBQ chicken&bacon panning was still grunting it was that under cooked.
A. C.
Classic city centre Wetherspoons, huge inside. Wide selection of beers & food. Staff were all friendly. Extremely handy for the Leeds First Direct Arena just 5 minutes walk away. Using the Wetherspoons app means you can order food & drink without having to leave your table & it gets brought to you. Good value for money.
H. D.
Great beer and obliging staff
J. C.
I think this has now become my favourite Wetherspoons in Leeds. I have been in a few times before but for some reason I have not been upstairs always been happy downstairs but what a nice space it is up there a second bar so easy to get served. I was a big fan of the Stick or Twist but alas it is no more but I will now frequent this place when I am in Leeds next, looking forward to it already 😀😀
J. W.
Very unexpected it's more of a night club but still cheap drinks and definitely worth going
D. M.
Nice meals as in every witherspoon.
K. A.
Good food and very spacious bar area clean friendly pub I like going in here when in Leeds.
T. H.
Great atmosphere, good music and staff were all very helpful. The food came in under 10 minutes and was surprisingly delicious for the low price that was paid. Overall great experience and can’t wait to come again. 6 stars required.
F. C. (.
Went in for a coffee and tea, bar staff made tea with kettle behind bar but coffee was bar staff pointing you to a machine of help yourself. Prices were very reasonable though, the place was however filthy with gunk and grease all over the light fittings and corners. Place had a strange foul smell and food was served like an American diner through a hole in the wall by sweaty cooks and super smart dressed waters. Strange as it was neat service but greasy sludge behind the scenes. Stick to drinks and forget the food.
M. W.
Polite team members, and nice food. Very busy but good atmosphere
a. k.
Good beer and snack and very good price. I like cask beer and little extra choice other than Greene King which is not a favourite but at the price can't complain
G. R.
Don't often go to the Hedley, however the lovely service given by Abi today has made me more likely to return. Friendly, efficient and with a lovely sparkly mask. That woman is a true asset! Thanks Abi
T. A. C.
The usual spoons experience however the venue is rather classy and very enjoyable
D. S.
Wetherspoons are always good quality food and beer with a great selection. This particular one is massive with loads of tables so you're almost always guaranteed to find somewhere to sit. Plays music which is different to a lot of Wetherspoons' venues too
S. M.
One of the nice one's in North Yorkshire 👌
F. T.
It's a Spoons. It's a pretty fair one too. Food's a bit so so but it's hot and cheap. Beer menu is OK and well kept. Staff are rushed but still stay pleasant. Not a bad place to spend an afternoon in.
T. S.
Love the atmosphere of British pubs. Prices are great and the food is high quality.
K. S.
It a nice place but it's a bit dirty and it more oriented toward college students especially in the weekend
L. j. B.
Clean, nice decor, good service. Exactly what you want from a weatherspoons.
D. M.
I do like it here but for the size of the place (HUGE) you still can’t get a table! If you go after about 4pm especially on a weekend be prepared to stand. They also run out of food all the time. So always have a plan b and possibly a plan c!
S. M.
Great food fast service
A. A.
Really nice place great atmosphere great staff worth going down for plus djs too great music for any thing
K. P.
We come here every week for breakfast. The results can be inconsistent, sometimes I'll have an underdone gooey egg but otherwise its fine. It's just what you expect from a wetherspoons, nothing too fancy, good place for a pint & prices are alright.
P. S.
Great for a cheap and cheerful night out on a Friday, Saturday are busy and there is always a queue by the door so make sure you got tot I.D and dress proper. Food is great especially the bbq ribs and steak ,but not my first choice for eating because it was not meant to be a restaurant anyway
L. A.
To say this is central in Leeds city centre, you will be very impressed with the location, prices, and overall look and feel of the place .. Very affordable prices, both drink and meals. 😆🍗🍔🍅
Ordered a Large mixed grill and a vegan burger .. which included a drink for each meal aswell.
This cost less than £20 .. and we'll worth it!
The chips with my burger were perfect .. not dry, like some chips in Wetherspoons can be .. (especially Beckett's Bank!) .. located opposite the Merrion Centre, this is fab location to either start, finish, or even to have a few drinks and a bite to eat in between having a night out in Leeds.
This is DEFINITELY the place I shall be going to in future, from now on .. TRY IT .. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! 😆

Great food. Friendly efficient service.
M.
Me and my boyfriend had a bit of a bad experience on the night the lights came on, the pub was extremely busy but as we decided to order food, we got told the food would only be 44 minutes but after an hour and a bit had gone by we decided to ask where the food was, we knew they have forgotten about it, when the food finally came it felt as it had been sitting on the side for a while, they offered us free drinks but at this point we just wanted to go home, my boyfriend decided to email the pub to exprss the disappointment as we frequently visit this particular pub for food, few days later the manager “Hanna” called my boyfriend and apologise for the service and offer us a voucher to redeem for food, once we redeem the voucher she personally came to thank us for coming back which I feel was going the extra mile to provide excellent customer service. We wanted to write this review as we feel she highly deserves the praise.
b.
Compared to the previous time I visited I thought the food was poor. The beef and ale pie tasted as though it had just come out of the microwave. Hard pastry. Due to time restraints didn't have time to complain.
B. A.
It's a Lloyds Wetherspoons, During the week days it's not to busy, nice for a pint/coffee and some food nothing fancy but well worth it for the money in Leeds center. After 6-7pm on some evening and weekends everything changes and it turns into a nightclub/bar.
B. P.
Too many young people, please raise prices
M. S.
Good food good value for money
R. E.
Lovely Wetherspoons pub set in a restored church in the heart of the city centre student zone. Absolutely vast with a big seating area in the former upper gallery area and extends into a couple of former shops on the College of Technology side. I like it because of its tasteful decor and dark, cosy atmosphere. It doesn't seem to get as rowdy as other Wetherspoons in the centre and has plenty of seating and tolerable toilets. Beer is cheap, food can be variable, lunchtimes can get very busy downstairs but you'll always find a spot upstairs. Limited outside space adjacent to a busy main road. I've not been in at night do can't comment on it in its 'Lloyds No.1 Bar' guise.
C. S.
Ok food and service need more bar staff on busy times and with experience
B. S.
Very nice pub indeed. But a very special thanks to the Canadian bloke and the manager. I was an idiot and ordered my food to the wrong pub via the app. They were extremely, extremely helpful in getting my money back and both very sweet. Thank you.
10/10 recommended :-)
S. B.
Nice place, enviroment and confy sofas.
About staff, you can notice the difference between one chef and another for the quality of the food send.
Also, most of the times you can see slow staff who took ages to clean a table. They need to improve the cleanliness and check to the coatumer if everything was ok with the food.
M. H.
My son bring me to your place. Brilliant breakfast and clean rooms.
M. R.
Lovely Staff, lovely food, lovely Coffee! 😍
O. B.
Great venue, reliably smooth service, food and drink delicious and reasonably priced. Slightly gloomy if you don't get a window seat though, but it's cosy.
G. M. B.
Always nice in here & staff are polite, professional & friendly
J. D.
Our favourite Wetherspoons in Leeds......food and service amazing......staff lovely and friendly.....very clean.......fantastic atmosphere.......after having a lovely lunch sat chillaxing. Credit to the Manager and chef is excellent. Well done.
S. V.
Nice place with quick service and a generally good layout.. Huge venue with a little seating area out front. Food was good, but became rather jealous after seeing a friend with a pizza that looked amazing!
E. P.
I love this place during the day for food and drink but on a weekend evening it is mental. Full of young drunk teenagers! The staff are super nice though and the drinks are reasonably priced.
a. b.
5/5 would have been possible HOWEVER I ordered myself a cheeky (that's the kind of guy I am) happy monkey. This beverage never arrived!!! After 30 minutes of no happy or even a sad monkey, I built up the courage and strength to finally get my friend to venture downstairs. She challenged the staff in a heated battle of wit only to find out that they had RUN OUT!?! UNFORGIVABLE!!!
However....... It's a good spoons with fair prices.
D. H.
Went in with my partner to have breakfast I have to say much better than a couple of weeks ago plates were hot food was hot atmosphere really gd staff very helpful ful and polite mix up with tables but was sorted so quickly that it was no a problem also nice to c a gd few of the older generation out and about some times we tend to forget with covid19 many will not come out so its gd to see thank u too al the staff at Lloyds
P. G.
In the Centre of Leeds University and Shopping area, this is a great pub to eat and drink at a great price. This pub is surprisingly large with loads of great seating areas for friends and family to sit down. This also has a large upstairs with a bar on both floors.
W. H.
As much as you'd expect from the spoons experience. This is my favourite spoons in Leeds. That said, I do think it's a shame there's not many convenient spots for big groups of say 10+. However I am a loyal customer of the spoons package and having been to spoons in London you can trust me when I say this is one of the good ones. Loads of tables and a nice open upstairs it's lit af tbf! Quick service, peng food! The spoons experience in all it's glory.
A. W.
Useful location - halfway between town and universities. Menu obviously the same as other Wetherspoons so you know what you're getting but this place is huge, lots of space but also quieter places to go and sit in. Outdoor seating area which is a beautiful place to sit at night.
A. S.
Great bar & food, close to the first direct arena. Staff really welcome and friendly
J. M.
My favourite weatherspoons. Lovely staff.
P. H.
Nice bar in centre of Leeds. Wetherspoons pub with usual quality drink prices. Seating in and out.
A. B.
Fun place
G. D.
Always has been great for my Wife and I. Fantastic steaks, great curries at unbeatable prices.
Atmosphere is always good, many fun students and a very cosmopolitan, many cultures.
P. H.
Great bar and brilliant prices ..
But I have a complaint..
I ordered a Pink Gin and tonic and asked for a few strawberries... the young barman used he's hands and slopped the fruit into my drink ... where are the tongs!!!
M. M.
Great atmosphere and good priced drinks.
P. R.
Good drinks and good food.....
P. B.
Nice pub,.good atmosphere and decent beer just a shame I sat for 25 min with empty glasses and a dirty table from previous customers that they were still there when I left
L. J.
Where to start. First of all, the food made me feel as if i were to surf the stars. But not in a good way. Brain, scummy. Hands, Trembling. I'm weak at the knees, finding a duck in the men's bathroom? Atrocious.
Last thing I can say about The Hedley Verity, it's alright for a family meal, however not great if you want to scuba dive :0
T. C.
Great service, varied menu and attentive staff.
T. C.
Typical busy Wetherspoons. Cheap, great atmosphere. Staff excellent.
D. K.
It's a nice place to go for a drink during the day. As it gets closer to the evening it gets very loud and very busy. Great for the night club crowd but not really for me.
S. H.
It's a Lloyds. They're all the same. Cheap, convenient, has Wi-Fi and food comes fast. I worked in the kitchen. The food isn't microwaved. It's just made the same with identically cut and prepared food. Very efficient.
P. R.
Good place to have a drink
S. P.
Great place to meet friends, have dinner, chat and relax on a budget. They try to turn it into a night club from about 8pm onwards with loud music and dim lights but guess that's what the crowds want.
J. H.
OK, very uneven floor upstairs, but signposted... Just old I guess..
S.
Weatherspoons pub. This one actually had music on. Cheap beer what more can be said except I would recommend it. I didn't eat here but the food that was been brought out looked nice ..
N. A.
Not a bad pub at all. Reasonable beer, reasonable food, good prices. Big, with some nice spaces. Can be busy on a Friday and Saturday.
A. B.
It's a large venue which sells food and alcohol, and plays music in the evenings. It's similar to a wetherspoons but with music. Basically the same drinks and food as spoons, but nicer than the average spoons.
G. S. (.
Decent choice of beer. Always bouncers on door at peak time. It's cheap enough. Get's really crowded at the bar at times. It's frequented by a fairly young crowd.
S. F.
Nice place with a friendly atmosphere. Doesn't seem to get too full. Tables are always clean and the service is nice and quick.
J. S.
Overall a nice place with good value food. My only gripe is that the wheelchair access door is more than often locked. (This worries me a bit, as it is a fire exit)
J.
Good pub with a lot of mixed ages through the day and early evening but then sets up for a lively night time especially at the weekend. Good food and choice of beers and lagers.
C. B.
Cheep and cheerful like every other spoons. The building is pretty awesome tho
S. S.
Great city pub. Fast service and food arrived hot and quickly too
D. M. (.
Nice food spacious room nice food and staff were lovely. I'd reccomend the food it was nice.
P. K.
Pretty standard Wetherspoon/Lloyds №1, the outdoor seating was welcome but it's a shame that the non-smoking area wasn't more firmly enforced.
D. M.
Perfect for a cheap and cheerful evening drink or Sunday lunch. It's huge so there are lots of places to hide away if you want a little peace and quiet.
J. B.
Very reasonable prices for beer, lot's of tables but it gets busy after 5 so go early if you want a seat.
t. b.
Go to pub after a whole day of sitting down in lectures.
Staff are quick and responsive. A thorough Wetherspoon's experience.
I. a. j.
Great service and good for a couple of drinks before going on a night out. Lovely environment staff always seem bored to be there though.
R. S.
Food was lovely and came fast. Nice staff, polite and repectful, even though it was jam packed with rowdy customers
A. K.
Good Wetherspoons, but for me not enough draft beer. Very crowded at lunchtime but pleasant seating outside. Always enjoy my visits.
G. R. S.
Just played rock & roll bingo it was a good laugh even though I didn't win anything. I also tried their new pizza which was nice, but they forgot to put chillies on it.
T. H.
amazingly fast servie and kind staff who went that little bit further in their jobs which is not somehting i have seen in a weatherspoons before, coming back to our table to check if our food was okay and clearing our plates promtly after we had finished even though there were quite a large number of poeple in the pub too and they were all busy
C. G.
Always enjoyed my time at lloyds, especially the night club. Cheap drinks, good music, great atmosphere. You cant go wrong.
A. Z.
Place has a lift to get to upper floors. But wheelchair accessible entrance can be locked sometimes, so it's nice to have someone with you (if you're using wheelchair for mobility) to ask to open the door.
R. R.
A bit more relaxing as it's away from main city centre bars
a.
Beef madras curry, too much carb. with both rice and nan bread. The sauce seemed to have sugar in it and not enough meat, but £6.50 for meal and a pint was brilliant. value.
P. E.
Food was ok and the service was quick even though the pub was busy, we particularly liked using their app to place our order.
S. L.
good place for food and a drink nice and spacious inside and cool in hot weather will definitely be back.
M. R.
Lovely place to have a drink through week with friends
A. C.
I always like to go there for a bite or a drink. The place is cozy, warm and have free WiFi. Foods are great and reasonably priced. What else you need!
A. D.
Very very busy. Staff do well. Food is good.
A. P.
amazing, brilliant, crazy; delicious eating food, gravy heated intelligently just keep looking mad not obnoxious. perfect quinoa, roasted succulently. tenderloin undercooked, very watery. xtreme yourself. zoom!
l. s.

c. s.

Good drinks and food.Staff are friendly
K. K.
This is a great place to have cheap drinks and good music. The crowd is bit on the younger side so if thats ok with you then i say come here and have some fun.
A. A.
Good place to go f a drink if visiting Leeds First Direct Arena
C. M.
Called in for breakfast before the Saturday of the England vs Sri Lanka test. Food was good, service was good and free coffee refills. Also some good pictures on the wall of Hedley Verity.
J. R.
It's nice and all but I'm mainly writing to let you know that the name of the chap in the photo on the wall by table 122 is Arthur Ransome. Not Arthur Ramsome. It's just a one letter mistake so I doubt you'll change it but just letting you know 😛
H. D.
What on earth?! A Wetherspoons which is a club at night? Has to be seen to be believed. Same old spoons vibe during the day, but inexplicably enjoyable if you're in a dancey mood after dark!
S. H.
Great value for money, good atmosphere and rock and roll bingo was fun on a Monday and Wednesday!!
S. L.
A spacious Wetherspoons with plenty of seating. The food and drink is cheap and cheerful. The service is very quick
C. B.
Lots of seating areas. Our favourite spoons in Leeds! Good prices, good food, good selection of drinks!
m. a.
Very friendly staff, nice fast got food
S. P.
Nice staff, good food and prices. Fine during the day, but at night there was a queue down the street to get in.
Z. B.
Absolute boss time, drinks were great and the service was impeccable, we had Sam as our waiter and he so so polite.
J. A.
I love coming here. The food is great, so is the service. The atmosphere is good and the drinks aren't too expensive.

E. A.

M. R.
Nice friendly place & nice food 👌
J. M.
Never have a problem with this wetherspoons. I always love wetherspoons but it was unusually busy yesterday but that may be because of something on at the arena, but still a great pub
M. R. R.
One of the best Wetherspoons in Leeds. Always clean.
L. H.
It was great had a good time but was abit crowded.
R. W.
Great place to start our day in Leeds. Service quick and efficient and lager nice and cool

F. P.
An enormous pub with loads of tables and options. Good for an after work drink and has table service too via the app. Recommend.
B. S.
Very busy during weekend but even though they said 45mins wait for a meal it wasn't as long and food was lovely the steak and kidney pie was so tasty . Staff very polite and helpful even though it was extremely busy .
L. H.
Fast service ,great breakfast nice old building
A. C.
Nice low pressure pub. Reasonable prices on food and beverages. Coffee is quite good and service friendly.
M. T.
Nice place, friendly staff but when my chilli came you could tell it had been microwaved, no suprise there but a simple stir after reheating would've helped presentation.
B. P.
A bit quieter than you'd expect and the usual good prices of a weatherspoons
A. E.
I'm not much of a pub or alcohol guy, but it was okay. Too loud to have a conversation
J. G.
Great atmosphere quick service and good food
J. J.
A really good option.
Definitely recommend and will go again.
M. S.
One of our favourite places to go on a night out, won't be everyone's cup of tea but cheap drinks and good music can't go wrong really.
C. D.
No fridges for cold mixers, ie tonic etc, place empty compaired to other visited, Bar staff immature, throwing beer mat's at each other, all in all, may never visit again,
D. P.
Typical Wetherspoons pub. Nothing to dislike except Tim Martin's views
G. P.
Late night visit after concert. Great pub
A.

J. C.
got a free bev from a mate and there was a pic of a mother and her child with an apple. wild
B. C.
If you want barely legal clundge, this is the place in Leeds to go. There is so much teenage capacity, you can smell the pheromones as you walk in. Fortunately alot of them are pretty so everyone is a winner.
C. J.
Cheap and cheerful. Curry option on Thursday was poor, naan was like a rock, poppadoms were burnt. Could do better.
G. W.
Great service when using. Wether spoons app.. otherwise be prepared for a queue. Food cooked good..decent prices..clean venue.
