Reviews of The Reliance
M. C.
Incredibly friendly staff, great service and a top-notch Sunday roast. The lamb option was incredibly tasty, the nut roast packed with taste and not dry at all like some can be. Veg cooked perfectly and a good selection, optional cauliflower cheese well worth the investment.
Kids enjoyed the fish and chips (chips very good!) and swapped out the peas for carrot from the roast menu. No specific kids menu but they are happy to make smaller versions of anything on the regular one. Fussy eaters might struggle with this so check in advance to prevent tears.
Great selection of beers and other drinks, pleasant ambience and just an all round jolly nice place to visit.
(being so close to Wen's worried me a little given their bizarre reaction to my review of the experience there but I escaped any retribution).

We booked to eat here for a celebratory meal. We really enjoyed the meal. The hummus was excellent, especially with the focaccia and anchovies. We had 4 starters between two of us, but as the chefs were directly opposite in the open kitchen we were a bit surprised when our mains arrived half way through our starters. After a short discussion they were taken back and a fresh meal delivered 15 minutes later. Excellent haddock and chips and the belly pork melted in the mouth. The salted caramel, chocolate mousse popcorn wasn’t really set and very sweet but still enjoyable with two selections from the specialist whisky list. Overall a good meal but spoilt by lack of observation/communication.

One of the highlights of the roast was actually the slow roasted whole carrot which was super sweet and tasty. The portion was generous and the meat was succulent. I prefer my food to be piping hot so an improvement would be that the meal was heated up before serving. I would recommend booking for Sunday lunch to ensure you have a table.

First time visiting here in years. Used to come here and get the gammon, egg and chips all the time but they stopped doing it and we almost forgot about it.
Went for a Sunday lunch. Inside was nice and well spaced out. 100% honest review: I got the beef roast, it was a little cold and hard to cut unfortunately, but tasted nice. The potatoes could’ve been a little softer for me, and the gravy thicker. Greens and carrot lovely. Controversially I’m not the biggest fan of Yorkshire puds, it was nice but a little over done for me personally. My other party members let me sample their lamb and pork. Lamb was the my favourite, then pork, then beef.
Enjoyed with a nice bottle of red wine, and table chips which were great. We liked our chocolate pot dessert, the apple cheesecake was nice, the tart a little small.
Final point: I remember when I used to visit often the fish and chips would be unavailable, this time it was again. Chicken roast option would be much appreciated. Would definitely return.

We were visiting the area for the weekend, and we couldn’t find any online availability but after leaving a request, they contacted us straightaway and let us know they were able to accommodate. Our visit was also matched with warm and friendly service, fantastic selection of beautifully crafted, bold yet mouthwatering flavoured dishes, all were excellent value for money. It is slightly outside the city centre but it is 100% worth the visit! I’m still dreaming of the kale salad after one week 🤤

Loved it, we had a very busy day and looked for somewhere to eat where we could take my son and his girlfriends puppy.
We were so warmly welcomed and looked after. I am not sure if he was the owner or manager but we were having lovely conversations. The meal was outstanding and we could not eat it all. Wine he recommended devine indeed.
My son went back the following evening.
Outstanding in every way indeed. :)

After spotting this on a dog-friendly restaurant list, we stopped in here with our pooch to escape the rain on Sunday. We were after a light lunch and chose a couple of the 'Smaller Plates' from the menu. Initially there was a little mishap with an incorrect order but it was dealt with really swiftly and with a smile. A little on the pricey side for the portion size (more of a snack than a light lunch), we were relieved that we'd ordered a side to share as well, but the food was divine and we felt it was a fair price for a treat. The flavours were amazing and we look forward to going back for more foodie inspiration. Would recommend booking as it was pretty busy!
J. B.
Bar snacks menu is outstanding and different, everything on the list is amazing, would order it all again. Really good quality and excellent value for money.....
However, drinks are not as good as your local pub, range not what you want and more expensive than other places
M. S. R.
This venue made my crawl up the M1 worthwhile. After a disastrous
delay the team were able to hold my table and super-friendly. The menu isn't complicated, but don't be fooled. What is on it, is incredibly well done! My lamb chops with puréed aubergine and greens with roasted peanuts and a tad of chilli were super and my apricot and almond tart with crème fraiche warm, with a slightly crispy base. Last but not least, the team filled my beer growler for me. Highly recommended!
D. S.
Great gastropub. They have a good selection of beers, wines, and spirits. The food is truely great, especially for the price. I love that the menu changes with the seasons and the specials board is changing all the time too. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a few beers or a meal out with friends and loved ones.
L. E.
Food was absolutely amazing, super fast service and a spot on price.
The staff were really lovely too!
First time here, won't be the last.
M. L.
High quality British cuisine that doesn't break the bank. I had the artichoke for starter and roast lamb for main. The starter was excellent but I found the lamb a little fatty. They serve a roast dinner on Sunday with a choice of meat.
S. O. (.
Lovely place for a big glass of non alcoholic beer. Their puddings are delicious too
S. F.
If I could give this place a million star I would! The atmosphere, coolest staff and the FANTASTIC food and drinks. They made my birthday super special. Every thing was 10/10. Thank you
p. s.
Celebrated my son's 21st there with a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Food was great, nice selection of drinks and staff were lovely too. Definitely will return.
R. H.
I always love it here. Been coming since 2015, and the food and ambience are always on point. Staff are always friendly and the vibes are always chilled and cosy. Plus it's dog friendly, bonus! Please don't change a thing :)
J. T.
Didn't have any food, but drinks were excellent. Staff also very welcoming and helpful. Decor nice and eclectic.
s. k.
Quality food , drinks and service in a casual yet stylish place. Their fish and chips are particularly brilliant and love their wines.
D. R.
My mum says it was the best meal she’d had in a long time, her dish was the Coley & Cider in Leeks, I had the beef, it was incredible! Will be coming back very soon!!!
A. L.
They've really created a covid era system that instantly makes you feel both safe and welcome. The staff are friendly and will walk you through everything you need to know. The food and wines were excellent. Will definitely come back here again.
t. h.
Been a lover of Sunday dinners and if you look through my review s you will know for sure we checked the Reliance out and it's a delightful plate of food, beef cooked to perfection and a decent plate full of veg and spuds etc, service was warm and attentive. Super dinner 😊 quality real ale too.
L. T.
Excellent food and staff, they were so accomodating to me and my baby and did it all with a smile!
G. P.
Visited for dinner on a busy Saturday night, but the service was still fairly quick, and otherwise excellent in all aspects. The food is so tasty it almost made me cry. I had a really succulent beef cheek bourguignon and their amazing sponge and custard. Great beers also available.
R. C.
Wow. The food was SUPERB. Such creative and delicious pairings of flavour and texture -
each course was as tantalising as the last. We were a group of three and all had such a great time. The ambience, service, cocktails and atmosphere were all fantastic. I won’t hesitate to recommend this place to friends and will certainly be back very soon. X
G. C.
Can't fault this place at all. We've been twice - once for the Sunday dinner and once on a weekend night. Both times we were really impressed with the service, perfectly cooked food and relaxed atmosphere. I think it tops some of the more 'fancy' places in Leeds for creative and delicious plates, while still having a laid back pub vibe. So good.
L. H.
Lovely little place, both the bar and restaurant are cosy and staff are friendly. The food is delicious and always changing.
S. R.
Friendly staffs, delicious vegan meals, nice ambience. There was a false fire alarm the moment I had Christmas dinner here, and it was annoying as it lasted half an hour. But other than that, nice.
F. C.
I cannot recommend the reliance enough, fantastic service, food and atmosphere. A must if you’re visiting Leeds or looking for a place to eat.
A. P.
It is rare to find somewhere with good food, good beer and that can still do a great Sunday Lunch. Highly recommended!
A. H.
My favourite place for elevated pub grub in Leeds for many a year. Always a focus on quality ingredients cooked well, with an inventive and delicious wine list, combined with casual but efficient service. Away from the food, they've got an amazing range of wines by the glass as well. (Including organic and orange wines. Mm.) Long may you continue to be exceptional at what you do, Reliance.
B. T.
Good spot for food and a beer! Both done to extremely high standards.
P. R.
Great real pub in the CAMRA good beer guide. 4 real ales plus good selection of other beers. Food excellent. Friendly busy place. Highly recommended
M. m.
Interesting, thoughtful, well executed dishes if perhaps overpriced. But our enjoyable lunch was rather soured by the chilly welcome. It felt at times as if we were intruding, as though we’d caught the aftermath of a marital barney. Quite possibly an off day but we won’t be returning in a hurry.
E. A.
Lovely food and very polite staff . Choices for vegans are available.
H. D.
Absolute gem of a place! Food was gorgeous and the staff are so lovely.
Friendly, nice atmosphere and quirky!
Would highly recommend to anyone!
Vegan, gluten free options available so dietary requirements catered to!
L. S.
Amazing place. Staff were really friendly and food was fantastic. Loved the cicchetti with every aperitivo. Very reasonable prices and big portions, we had a real mix of dishes and everything was delicious. Super dog friendly and they brought over a bowl of water for her.
S. H.
My husband had the large plate cod and i had the small plates fish soup and heritage squash with a side of greens. The greens were about 30 seconds under and the fish soup could have done with a strain as it was a little greasy but those were a very picky chefs only comments. The food was overall divine and the squash (an ingredient im not a big fan of) was a revelation. I never eat pudding as i dont have a sweet tooth but we both had the chocolate and pistachio torte which made us very very happy. Loved watching the kitchen in action and think we may make it regular viewing. Thank you for a lovely evening off. Oh, also the food is underpriced. I would expect to pay at least £10 for a small plate and £20 for a main with this quality.
N. J.
Friendly service, a small focused menu and a great selection of drinks. What's not to like?
w.
Great food, service and beer. There's a wine takeout inside too.
D. R.
A fantastic sunday dinner and dessert. A bit off the beaten track, so a nice hidden find.
P. S.
Top notch nosh... Not too expensive but great value.
18/6/22 Back again, still has a fantastic menu with excellent wines!
K. O.
Delicious roast, attentive staff, great beer
M. B.
Excellent gastro-pub fayre. Served by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff.
F. Y.
Truly the best meal of 2021. Food was some if the best I've had for quite some time. If the Italians in the group are impressed with clean plates, you know you're doing something right. Congratulations to the chef.
D. G.
Went there for a christmas meal. The food was superb, service really friendly and attentive, and the beer was great!
R. O.
My spiritual home. Love the atmosphere, excellent drink options perfect
S. C.
Had a lovely roast here, good service too.
K. S.
The Reliance is another place that is always on my list for when we have friends visiting from out of town, as you can always rely on it for an innovative menu of both food and drinks.
The place looks like a pretty traditional pub from the outside, but on entering you're greeted really warmly by the staff and from the moment you look at the menu it's clear that the Reliance is much more special than you might think at first glance.
One our last trip, we had the full three courses and samples three of the wines (including a recommended dessert wine), all of which we chose on the recommendation of our waiter. As with the food menu, we were offered a great choice ranging from conventional to less so! My partner had the pigeon starter, which I have to say was a highlight, but for me the dessert was the course of the day. A relaxed spot for - as the name suggests - a reliably excellent dinner.
P. J. W.
It's a little way out of the centre, but worth a visit for the laid back atmosphere and decent range of beer, both cask and keg.
A. H.
Really enjoyed the food. Bacon chop with fried egg and chips. Good to see the chef salt the fried egg. Had some focaccia which was nice, although as we finished the table next to us ordered some and they were offered balsamic and some oil dips. Would have nice to have been offered this too . Sticky toffee pudding could have done with some ice cream. But overall, really enjoyed it.
J. S.
Great food, great vibe, will definitely go again
M. R.
There is a good choice of sandwiches and ours had plenty of tasty fillings with lovely fresh bread, the cakes were delicious (we let the chef choose ours) but what were outstanding were the scones which were light with just the right amount of moisture. The service was helpful and all the staff friendly. We had a lovely time.
L. R.
Good food and quick service. The hot chocolate was amazing! Maybe turn the heating a bit higher
O. J. T.
Love this place. Food has always been fantastic, plus a great range of drinks. The staff are really knowledgeable about the wine in particular.
Really good vibe whether day or night, and the perfect place to go for a chilled drink - a good place to be aware of particularly on a Friday or Saturday night if you still want a relaxed conversation with the people you're out with.
C. P.
Enjoyed the Sunday night pub quiz. Good selection of beers and wines. Cheese and charcuterie very enjoyable.
S. C.
Great Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit.
M. G.
One of the best eateries in Leeds a must visit for all
M. P.
Loved the small plates and great wines 🍷
V. W.
Party of 6 from work. Great food and beer, although COVID-19 restrictions made staff a bit over zealous. Yes one of those where staff become power mad. Fish and chips perfect though hence the 4 stars.
M. S.
I came across this place on the first evening of a recent visit to Leeds - and returned several times during the week!
Cracking beers, nice wine, the food I tried was superb - and all at a very reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is really chilled and relaxed, lovely ambience.
Hope I can get back again soon...!
F. M.
I've been twice in the last month for Sunday lunch and had the nut roast, the food is absolutely delicious (particularly the Yorkshire pud!). Really attentive and friendly service, and feels very spacious and open, I felt confident about their covid measures.
A. W.
Great pub serving interesting beers with a wide variety and good wines. I have eaten here a couple of times, in the restaurant bit at the back and in the bar. Good food, carefully cooked. Best of all are the staff who are unfailingly welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Dog-friendly in the bar as well and an interesting architectural space. Check out the curved window at the front. What more do you want?
D. G.
Lovely food great service and excellent customer service from staff ...if you love a sunday roast make a booking 👍
P. R.
Probably the best Sunday lunch in Leeds!
C. E.
Friendly staff, lovely Sunday nut loaf roast. I'll be back.
A. O.
Food was amazing - no wonder it's popular. Interior was a bit "tired" ... Though my wife thinks that's the style they are after. We'd go back.
C. N.
I've eaten here several times, it's always been great. The menu and specials change regularly. The charcuterie is excellent, as are the small plates with plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. We enjoyed the halloumi and apple and the sardines with tomato salad. The staff are really excellent, cheerful and enthusiastic, and the wine list is great and very reasonably priced.
S. R.
Been coming here since it opened & it never drops it's Standard, the food is great, there's a variety of beers, nice coffee & love the atmosphere.
Only downside is that a young member of staff seemed to look down their nose at people in their 50's frequenting the place. Still an Iconic Leeds bar.
E. A.
Lovely food, some fantastic wine and beer on offer and I was pleased to see an Aperitif menu, can't beat a Negroni in the sun!
I. W.
Huge range of interesting beers, wines and other beverages. Food was outstanding. ..very original options on a truly individual bespoke crafted menu. Steak cooked to perfection with a piccante own home sauce. Staff must be mentioned. Friendly, very knowledgeable and each one we came across were of the same disposition. One of the very best dining experiences I've had of late. Ian Whiteley CMM Events

Lovely food and service
D. M.
Great for a Sunday lunch and relaxed atmosphere.
Food was amazing, beer was good and staff all very friendly
R. T.
First time at the Reliance. I had the roast squash the husband the beef bourguignon, they were both outstanding. Super comforting, tasty and well proportioned. Nice atmosphere and attentive service. We’ll be back for sure.
C. M.
Still very covid secure. Nice clean restaurant/bar. Had two nice real ales on when I went. Need to book a table on advance.
M. M.
Had lunch here yesterday. The food was good, I had the black pudding, bacon, egg and potatoes. I could have eaten it three times over. The bar had a great range of beer, almost had to wheel myself out in the pram. It’s very child friendly, every table had at least one kiddo at it at one point.
C. B.
We came here for a Work Christmas Meal after a recommendation from a colleague. Catering for large groups can often result in cold plates of food or bland Christmas menu options, but at the Reliance we got a function room at the back, food was served quickly and was very tasty. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and we all had a lovely evening! I can heartily recommend a visit.
H. H.
Business Lunch today was superb. I used to come here quite a few years ago mainly for their fabulous breakfasts and the cool relaxed laid back atmosphere. Today it was just as good if not better than ever great food great coffee chilled vibe excellent food and service from the friendly and attentive staff... 5 star and A1.. One of the best fish and chips I have had.... EVER!!
T. K.
Cracking atmosphere, good beers on tap, friendly service with plenty of banter and excellent wine list. Food was also exquisite. If you’re a fan of succulent chicken, unlike a lot of the dry stuff that is served in many similarly priced restaurants, you’ll be a fan of this place.
A. M.
Original menu, love the combination of flavours particularly with veg. Good use of seasonal produce. Friendly, informed service. Well done!
M. M.
Great food and excellent wine and beer range. Authentic well thought through dishes that are regularly updated. Their fish and chips are the best in the region and probably the north (wheat beer batter, twice cooked chips, home-made tartare and updated mushy peas). Young and really pleasant staff make it a pleasure to enjoy the food, craft beer and atmosphere. Bright and airy space with large windows letting in light and the eye to wander.
N. D.
Open again after the lockdown and by far the most cautious of the bars I've visited. Very sparse seating, staff place all food and drink at a distance and collect plates in a washing up bowl!
Good to have it back though.
D. N.
A lovely bar to go on a Sunday evening, good beer good food, but not cheap.
Back now from the lockdowns and still brilliant
A. R.
Great ambiance here. I've always felt very welcome and the clientele are super hospitable. The beers are well kept and the food is great, with lots of variety and style. So far, it's my favourite pub in Leeds.
J. W.
Tasty dishes, fast service and delicious drinks. Would highly recommend.
D. K.
Quality food, good atmosphere, fantastic drinks and very good staff
A. R.
I've been on a quest for the best Sunday Roast in Leeds and have tried quite a few places that let me down. The Reliance is the real deal. Great ambiance, fantastic food, polite and well informed staff... Loved it. I can't yet say if it is the best, but it is certainly leading the pack.
L. Y.
Love this place. Great selection of beers and excellent food. Price point is excellent for the food, and the pub is cosy. If only I managed to stop by here more often...
S.
Fantastic atmosphere, great food and service
R. G.
The waitress was fab, and not that it in anyway enhanced her services, but her hair is fantastic -the boldest orange known to man, so much so I'd caution she might contribute to Yorkshire's night time light pollution. (I don't mean to be rude, far from it, it's an excellent shade of hair colour!) Anyway, she was lovely, and full of banter. If you're not in the business of a proper Sunday Lunch, you can rely on this place to tantilise your tastebuds with an array of other delicious offerings, such as stews, pie for two and more! There's plenty of choice when it comes to tipples too, including many an ale, and some decent spirits whilst they're at it.
D. W.
The food and service was excellent, it would have been 5 stars but there was sediment in my red wine which wasn't pleasant at all.
G. W.
Great pub, very friendly staff and good beer, will definitely come back to try the food
G. F.
So this visit was for our 6th wedding anniversary, what a find. Cool atmosphere, kids, large groups. Good beer and amazing food. The staff are relaxed but know what they are serving. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!! Will definitely be back!!
D. H.
Mega!! A superb collection of posh beers and organic wines. Today... coffee, soft drink and a fish and chips as a main course all for 15 quid. It might be a short walk away from Leeds main centre but if you like quirky amazing venues with lovely staff, then make time to visit this cool and friendly venue. Double thumbs up from me.
A. G.
Great atmosphere. Good selection of drinks, a lot of good wines. It is a bit of a pricy place, but you pay for a good atmosphere, friendly staff and more upscale feel. Have not tried the food but heard it is very good, so would definitely be visiting it for dinner
M. W.
Great beer selection. Extensive wine list, and wines to take out. Food menu is British gastro pub type. Very tasty, plenty of variety. Probably the best pub in Leeds
C. C.
Fantastic gastro-pub a little off the beaten track on the edge of the city centre. The food and drinks range are absolutely top-notch. Prices are a little high as a result, but worth it. Good for any occasion.
T. S.
My favourite bar in Leeds.
The food is excellent and the bar it's self is a great place to be. It's got huge windows from floor to ceiling, plenty of wood everywhere, it's an interesting lay out with three distinct areas and multiple levels. The range of beers is exceptional and the clientele are a slightly older bohemian lot. It's a great place to start the evening.
It's not cheap though...
L. M.
Great bar with an atmoshpere to match. The bar staff are friendly and put you at ease which makes for a great evening! I didn't tryed the food but it looks amazing and cant wait to go back and try it. The drinks were good with plenty of choice of whiskey and the warm cider was a winner. A must try if in Leeds!
L. H.
Had such a lovely Sunday dinner here... definitely recommend the roasted parsnips on the side.
T. H.
An interesting drinking room with a good variety of real ales, ciders and wines. There is a fantastic range of food avaliable here, daily specials are updated throughout the day. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks they are serving.
G. G.
I have been several times and always enjoyed the experience. It isn't the run of the mill restaurant /bar as it shows it's industrial heritage whilst maintaining an atmosphere of congeniality. Staff are helpful and attentive, food fresh and tasty; what more could one ask?
K. C.
Fantastic food. Compliments to the chefs.
All staff amazing and attentive. Thank you
G. S. (.
Came here for Sunday roast a few months back after a recommendation. It was worth the visit - Fantastic service, we were very well looked after from the minute we walked in, had great beer and outstanding food in good portions . Highly Recommended.
T. B.
Very few places remain consistently great over many years. The Reliance is one of those places. Always a warm welcome, great service and delicious food. The leek soup on this visit was, quite simply, a triumph.
J. S.
Good atmosphere... Pleasant staff and nice food.
D. R.
Best Sunday lunch of last year, visited 24/11/19. Was well worth the trip from Aberdeen. Interesting pork scratchings , which are puffed so you don't break your teeth. Hummus as good as l found in a visit to Jordan. The 2 cask condition ale's I tried were outstanding. If the opinion of some who owned and ran his own pub for 23 year's counts for anything. The waiter would have put Sir Reo Statkis to shame. He even apologized that the Reliance Best Bitter came from Barnsley. I don't know where that is ,but am now keen to visit .Most important of all of coarse. They got nothing wrong. I didn't even have to ask for a card machine.
P. R.
Great staff, great beer, and great food. Casual place, slightly worn but with a homely charm. Clean toilets too; the gents actually smell like talcum powder. Refreshing change from ass and piss like most places in Leeds.
I. P.
Superb choice of everything to drink, quite for a busy Saturday night and great if you want to avoid the Leeds Central hustle n flow.
A tiny bit pretentious but most places are these days only gripe was lack of cosyness, OK for groups but would bring my Mrs here
J. J.
The perfect place. You can take anyone here and there will be something to make them happy. Staff are wonderful, the food is incredible and there are always new options.
T. H.
An array of craft beers and lagers , a really good choice of bottles of wine and an unusual menu - brilliant crispy chips , prawns with a garlic mayonnaise and a glass of raspberry flavoured ale . Sitting at a rough hewn wooden table looking out of the huge windows , daily papers available to read makes for a delightful experience
J. C.
Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff
D. A.
This used to be a great place to eat, but the standard of food has declined. I ordered a lamb roast dinner today 25.2.18.and the food was cold when it reached the table, yorksire puds cold, meat cold, veg luke warm & overcooked. Disappointed won't go back for food, but the choice of beer is good.
M. D.
I really like the reliance. Good food menu with inventive seasonal cooking, in house charcuterie, great natural wines, and loads of lovely beers, both keg and cask. Nice wooden floors throughout and huge glass windows make for a nice atmosphere. Cosy room to the side for drinking also. Leeds classic.
S. R.
Hybrid destination. Fine dining meets equally fine service meets an equally diverse array of beers meets a rustic homely chilled out vibe Vege and vegan options that truly stand out - not your usual mushroom risotto or "mushroom burger". If you want innovative flavour combinations that actually taste good, then look no further. The price tag (£££) is more than justified.
J. A.
Underestimated and oft forgotten about. This bar takes on an attractive hazy glow in the evenings and rarely gets crammed. It often hits the sweet spot between a relaxing slow-tempo and a pleasant hubbub. Drinks are varied, though a little expensive, and the food likewise. The décor is the sort of 'shabby chic' thing most bars were doing before craft beer came along with strip lighting and harsh bench seating. It has hardly ever been a disappointing visit.
M. H.
Tucked away but well worth the climb out of town. The alterations to the back dining room some years ago have made this space bright and light. A real cosy venue with all the right stuff; comfy sofas, huge wooden tables, good choice on beer and other drinks. Food made on site from ecclectic ingredients - think they still make their own charcuterie! This place has been very carefully thought about and you can feel that when you eat the delicous food or choose something wondrous to drink. There are board games too for wet and windy days.
L. S.
Neighbourhood feel bar serving a likeable range of drinks. The layout is good and all makes for a good place to go with friends. The chesterfield could do with a little TLC, but you can't have everything.
R. C.
Been visiting with my dad for more than half my life now and it's still a lovely, welcoming place to eat. Amazing food, attentive & helpful staff and just a perfect atmosphere.
S. T.
It's just great! Food's always really good!
Beer's great! Atmosphere relaxed, staff friendly. What more could you ask for? Wish I was there now!
B. D. L.
Oh my god, the food's incredible - like, INCREDIBLE! Really nice atmosphere & staff too, looks like it would be nice for a quiet (posh) drink as well. Loved it!
D. A.
Superb food and great service. Unpretentious staff and a relaxed feel to the place. Very high quality ingredients, innovative dishes with attention to detail. Probably one of the best places in Leeds to eat.
P. M.
We've been coming to The Reliance since it opened. It's always been the best boho bar in Leeds. Effortlessly chilled, great gastro-pub style food, cold beer and a great wine list. Perfect for mid week tea, great for drinks with friends at the weekend.
A. S.
One of the best in town for food especially Sunday dinners!
Never had a bad meal.
Top end prices but well worth it.

Definitely one of the finest (if not the best) gastro style pubs in Leeds.
Always seasonal food cooked to a high standard, hearty yet sympathetic to ingredients and flavours, pub classics (fish and chips, pies, soups) and great specials.
Also worth a mention is the charcuterie which comprises of local and home-cured delicacies.
M. C.
In Leeds for one night on business. Wanted somewhere reasonably close to the arena ie, walking distance, for a good meal and some atmosphere. Went on Google and found The Reliance. It was a great choice. Cosy atmosphere, great food, good beer (I had their Best), pleasant staff. It was popular with small groups but I didn't feel out of place sitting on my own. Look forward to coming back.
S. H. M.
I've visited the pub part of the Reliance several times in the past but ate in the dining room for the first time last week, celebrating my son's 18 birthday. The food was delicious and interesting, with something for everyone, and I was pleased that they provided a version of the menu on request for those of us with dietary restrictions, with a good selection of gluten free items (a gluten free vegan might struggle, but I suspect you could probably request something altered slightly to remove animal products).
M. H.
Really great service, lovely Vermouth and a free cheesy Arrancini. What more do you want?
M. J.
Great service, a varied and delicious menu, very different, well worth a try.
T. L.
Good food on an interesting menu. Well set up for social distancing
L. M.
Really interesting menu and wine list. Food was delicious. Great staff. Will definitely come again.
Z. E.
Amazing food! One of my favourite places to eat in Leeds. Great selection of drinks too.
A. N.
Visited during covid. Had to reserve and they were very diligent with the safety rules.
Food is delicious, fresh and wonderful. Would recommend.
T. H.
One of Leeds first Gastro pubs. The food and drinks are good although expensive. They offer a pre-theatre set menu which is slightly cheaper. Nice decor but the smug clientelle can be a bit annoying. Too expensive to get thoroughly wasted in but probably not a bad place to fill up before a visit to Leeds' more insalubrious establishments.
J. B.
Nice atmosphere and airy space. Lovely food and friendly staff. Had a couple of delicious veggie Sunday roasts here.
F. B.
Just stopped in for a pint. I was just passing by when I saw the place, it's really lovely in there. I'm definitely coming again for some food next time
P. W.
Food excellent! Great atmosphere!
J. B.
Food wasn't as good as the menu suggested .
The Ragu was cold and celery on main, a major part of the dish, was tough and inedible. Rabbit was nice. Good service and a nice atmosphere but need to work on the food.
A. A.
Intersting menu, home cured meats good beer choice, interesting wine list. Food it's very good and fancy in a friendly enviroment!
T. E.
Great food and excellent staff, whether you're a nervous student looking for a nice place to take parents, got folks visiting from out of town, or simply want a good pint and some good food - this is the place to go.
S. H.
A great, shabby chic style bar. Easy going, interesting ales and well balanced service
T. B.
One of the best places to eat and drink in Leeds. Relaxed, fab staff, great food that's good value. I go back time and again and everyone I take loves it
T. M.
Great food, both in the bar and in the restaurant. Fantastic staff and family friendly (not overly though!)
100% recommend for Sunday lunch.
J. S.
A great vibe, sligtly out of the city centre, and great wine.
A. D.
Food is delicious, presentation is great; the staff is nice and the ambiance is pleasant, even the beers are good! No complaints.
H. T.
The food was brilliant and the staff really friendly. It was frustrating that you can't book a table and they don't do cocktails (I asked for a gin martini!)
L. A.
Amazing food, knowledgable and friendly staff and excellent service. We visited on a Friday night but will be coming back for the Sunday lunch!
P. S.
The food here is wonderful. They have a good selection of beers and the staff are welcoming and friendly.
M. M.
Went for lunch their food was freshly made and they had a good selection of snacks, plus a special board. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. :)
J. B.
Fantastic bar, serving great beers! The food they do is pretty good too. Always pop in for a drink when I'm back home!
O. M.

Great gastro-pub. Excellent menu and knowledgeable staff. A little pricey but you don't feel you're overpaying, as the food is excellent. Great date location fyi
T. D.
Great food and a nice drinks selection. Fantastic atmosphere, especially for a leaving do (I've been to many 10s over the years). Eye-wateringly expensive though...

Always loved the Reli but never had lunch before. Enjoyed my halloumi. Shockingly the humus doesn't come with bread though!
C. B.
Working lunch. Cooked to order. Quick service. If you want something a little different The Relance offers this. Small menu but covers all dietary requirements. My 2nd visit and wasn't disappointed.
S. H.
Great beer and food. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.
P. S.
Didn't eat here but the beer selection was good (well kept) and the staff were attentive.

N. S.
Good food but not same standard everytime. Worth a visit. Great beer on offer.
M. P.
I only went to for a drink but I feel I want to try the food as well. Has a nice rustic feel.
It's Off the Beaten path.

Great food. Brill veggie roast. Just check the prices of the carafe as some are not cheaper than the 175 ml glass!
a. m.
Great food, great beer, very Leeds-cool, nice staff, pretty pricey! In house charcuterie is great but costs a bomb..
O. H.
Went for a sunday roast and the meal was delicious. The beef and all the trimmings were perfectly cooked. Quick service and a relaxed environment.
K. N.
Great casual dining venue that serves one of the best Sundays Roasts in town. Cosy vibe and good drinks! Recommended for lazy Sundays with friends.
A. B.
Always loved the Reli (as those in the know call it!). Excellent modern British cuisine & great selection of beers - almost as good as the North Bar :-)
J. G.
Love it here.great selection of wines an beers.like the fact you don't need to book on a Saturday.
G. D.
A restauranty gastropub which is more of a restaurant by day and more of a pub by night. Fantastic food and guest ales and ciders on tap. If this was in the city centre then I imagine it would be jam-packed every night, but it isn't, which makes it a great place for eating out midweek.
A. O.
Simple, seasonal and delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere. Good beer selection. Friendly staff
A. W.
Nice atmosphere. Good selection of wines. A bit pricey but probably worth it.
L. A.
Lovely food but don't arrive too late on a Sunday as we got there at 5 and they had no roasts left. You can call to check beforehand
