K. S.Service slow, food was not taste, kids menu wasn't great nor was the healthy menu option no salad no jacket Potato.Found that very strange
S. H.Nice pub and decent pint. Had some good food offers on too. Really close to Kirkstall Abbey just a walk away. Worth a visit for a pint and something to eat. Staff friendly and you can sit in the beer garden
D. B.Seating outside is excellent & safely distanced. Table service was running (as well as track & trace) and was served quickly. The gentleman who served us was nice & friendly, the drinks were excellent and it's definitely a place I can recommend to others.

Payment on app also frustrating as have to input card details each time for each order. 💳🔃 Kitchen was not open again so no option for meals or hot food. Nice pub, lovely location but would benefit more if food was available

T.I ordered a southern fried chicken platter off the app, was given a meal that was missing several ingredients, no corn on the cob, no gravy etc. Unfortunately I only realised after I'd eaten, but when I complained I received no apology or even sympathy, instead I was just told that the app is a load of lies. Everything else was great but that was disgusting customer service.
EDIT: Did get a subsequent apology and offer of a free drink, so changing to 3 star

C. L.Visited today with my family and sadly most of the menu seemed to be out of stock. There were no starters (small plates), barely any puddings and we also struggled finding mains to eat. However, it has just been Christmas so this is somewhat understandable. The food we did order was very nice and the service was quick. There was only one mistake on the entire order and this was corrected very quickly. Overall, it was decent.
I'd visit here again but only if the full menu was available as they list some very tempting dishes, it's just a shame today we couldn't try them.
A. B.Quite big, and clean. Not the cheapest pub around but competitive. For example, Guinness is marginally cheaper at the West End for instance. Feels more like a wetherspoons than you'd expect for a local pub. Doesn't have the soul.

M. G.Nice pub with lovely beer garden. The inside is slightly dated, but the food is very nice and there are plenty of options to choose from. The beer garden is away from the road, so it's very nice during warm days.
They also have a pool table.
J. W.Great location and lovely beer garden. OK for a quick drink on a warm day, but don't bother with the food; it's terrible.
Ideally, Kirkstall Brewery will one day take this place over and work the same magic they did with the Kirkstall Bridge and the Cardigan Arms.
M. T.Food was nice, service was ok. The only issue we had was that they had rub out of lots of things. We arrived at 5.45pm on a Monday evening, they were out of lemonade, ice, and several of their desserts. But what we did get to eat was fine and good value for a pub meal.

We visited (2 OAPs, adult, child) without pre-booking on Sunday lunchtime. Adequate choice from menus (English and curry) plus desserts menu.
Attentive service.
Followed by second visit a week later (2 OAPs + 2 teenagers). Again no booking and good service. A bit of a wait but a large group had just arrived before us. We were told at outset that there would be a wait which was acceptable to us.
Third visit on following weekend. This time 2 OAPs, 3 adults and 3 children.

B. B.The food is cheap but not great. Generally incredibly fatty too. To be fair you get what you pay for and you don't pay much here. If you're tight for cash go here if you like quality food don't.

D. W.Visited this pub after the Kirkstall Festival to have a late lunch as we have eaten here before. Had an hours wait to then be served with food that was partly inedible. Dry mashed potatoes which we mainly left, tinned mushrooms which when pierced with a fork squirted water, glutinous congealed sauce. All barely hot. We ate mainly chicken and peas. Sorry Vesper Gate we wont be returning!!
