Had an evening meal here at the weekend and we were impressed. The refurbishment has been very tastefully done. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The menu is a good balance of pub classics and some more unusual dishes. All our mains were served on hot plates and were delicious. Our desserts were equally as fabulous. Our drinks were replenished frequently. We are already looking forward to visiting again soon.

Did a lovely job with our party, didn't catch the name of our waiter but he was fantastic, very attentive and happy to bring out a cake and sing with the party, just a great guy. The food was fantastic and very good selection of drinks plus a young diners menu for little ones that my little boy enjoyed. Have been several times since it reopened and will happily go again.

Having eagerly awaited the pub’s reopening for many years now, my wife and I had our lofty expectations shattered by a phenomenal dining experience. From the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff to the quality and quantity of the food, everything was better than we could have asked for from what is now our new favourite local. And compliments on our Pokémon themed attire were much appreciated too!

Had a lovely meal. It’s my 3rd visit and I must say the waitress Charlotte is amazing , so accommodating and thoughtful, she looked after us on all our visits hence us returning. Food was amazing and any concerns we had were dealt with promptly by Charlotte. Would recommend definitely x

The Axe & Square has had a wonderful makeover. It's been improved to a very high standard. It is now a great pub restaurant and I would definitely recommend it. I gave it 4 stars because I felt that the food was a bit basic for the prices being charged. However, it has only just re-openned and I think that it has yet to fully establish itself.

Beautiful refit creating a warm inviting dining experience. Food was good, and very reasonably priced. The service was brilliant, they were very attentive and helpful from start to finish, and our main waitress Faith was great. Lovely having a place like this in countesthorpe to go to.

Celebrated an 80th birthday at the Axe today, there was 8 of us. The food was superb. We had a range of mains from Fish Chips, Steaks, Chicken & desserts. The Toffee Apple crumble with custard was to die for. Staff friendly, efficient. Lovely meal 10/10

We had a lovely meal at The Axe and Square. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful, the food came out in great time and was to an excellent standard! I luckily was selected to come here as part of a pre-opening trial and I have to say the food and service was brilliant. All the waiting staff were incredibly responsive and the food was lovely. My partner had the sea bass which he said was incredible! Highly recommend!

Upon arrival at The Axe and Square we were greeted with a warm, bustling atmosphere. Although it was busy we were greeted and shown straight to our table. The decor is tasteful, modern and welcoming. Our server for the evening Emily was very attentive and helpful with a sunny disposition. Our drinks were served promptly and correctly. Our food arrived shortly after. All the food ordered was the right temperature and delicious. A request for a customised order was easily sorted for us. Emily checked all was ok with our meal and took our plates away at the right time when finished. She offered the dessert menu and asked if we needed anything else before bringing our bill. I would also like to mention Isobel who was working hard with a smile on her face and also checked all was ok for us. Overall an enjoyable evening with delicious food in a lovely atmosphere.

Visited today. Positives; Decor and refurb amazing and great interior. Food was good, a bit pricey as still basically a pub lunch. Non Alcoholic drinks were expensive. Could improve: We were seated at a 2 person table in a corridor between a door to the outside rear (not on main througherfare) and some store room. Literally every 5 minutes a member of staff was brushing past us in and out through the door to the outside..carrying things in and out of the store. Staff seemed to be using it as a cloak room also. Totally disturbed out meal all the way through and draught was uncomfortable..lots of other space in place so they did not have to squeeze us is a corner. Suggest they only use this table if desperate. Waiting staff appeared in experinaced, drinks were wrong, no sauces offered and we had 3 different staff wait out table. Do take blue light card but only 10% discount where other eateries offer 20%. Would return but clearly to get the best experinace for the money we would have to try and state where we wanted to sit and ask for things like sauces as not offered.

This is such a wonderfully friendly local pub with restaurant area. I often visit for the Sunday carvery, the food is fantastic, all freshly made, choice of meats and a great selection of veg & potatoes. Desserts also available. Great service, great value for money, great atmosphere, family friendly. I would highly recommend this establishment. It's always a good idea to book a table in advance as it does get very busy.

Another fantastic meal at the Axe & Square, both the Duck and Lamb were hot, tasty and tender, vegetables were well cooked, gravy was divine, we could not fault the service either, Beth was very attentive and looked after us and our 6 year old, 5+ stars from us.

Only ok I'm afraid. I asked about the mini fish and chips and was told it was "substantial". It wasn't. And all the chips were soggy and greasy. The sticky toffee pudding was hard as it had been microwaved for too long. Fortunately a kind member of staff prepared me another one himself which was much better. I won't be rushing back.

Since having a huge refurb and transforming this run down, dark and dank pub into what is now a lovely, open and warm welcoming restaurant the Axe and Square is now the go to place in our lovely village. Not only do we have an award winning Indian restaurant here in Countesthorpe, we now have this amazing place for all your socialising needs. Whether it be a quick casual drink in the bar or for your celebratory dinner in the restaurant, you'll find everything you need here. The staff are great and lovely and friendly. The meals are fantastic. Well cooked and presented and taste delicious too. The prices are very reasonable for the standard of food you get on your plate. We love it now we have this gorgeous place to rely on and it's right on the doorstep. You won't be disappointed and we can't wait to be there this weekend.
