Had a lovely time! The Friary is well maintained really organized with excellent hygiene, the toilets are very clean. Also the food was lovely.

Essentially a sports bar that sells generous portions of food. You can order food and drink through the mypub app. Can't help thinking they must have an enormous electric bill because of the number of TV's dotted around the place.

Following on my from original review below I decided to try again and booked another table for Saturday 20th November- brilliant time had, arrived at just before 5pm got some drinks and then asked about table - straight away the gentleman went to booth and cleaned table. Food was absolutely delicious only downside was the 15 minute wait for drinks ordered on the app. Throughly enjoyable 3 hours spent and will definitely be back again, well done. Original Review 30th October- Booked and paid deposit for table for myself, husband and daughter for 4pm for food and then to watch 5.30 footie on Saturday, arrived at 4 and no table reserved, apparently you shouldn’t be able to book for same day (booked at 10am) as they don’t look at bookings taken on the day. Was finally shown a totally inadequate table which would barely fit 3 drinks on let along 3 meals. Totally disappointed as The Friary has always been a favourite for drinks and cocktails when we stay in Leicester after the football. Ended up having to go elsewhere which was not as enjoyable as the evening should have been.

We've not been for a good few years, it was buzzing with great music , it seems it's gone back to how it used to be 👍

Quite shocking. I had paid the £10 deposit to reserve a table but had to wait for other customers to be cleared off it. The pub soon filled up with City fans and I didn't dare leave the table unattended to join the queue at the bar. As it was I had people stood around my table and putting their empty glasses on it. When they finally all left for their match I felt safe to go to the bar, but I forgot to ask to offset the bill against my table deposit. I have asked for a refund of the deposit so let's see if it happens. The one star of the rating is for the helpful staff. Update - it has been 19 working days so far and no sign of a refund of my booking deposit. Final Update - Well it took one month and some persistence, but with lots of help from Matt the GM there, I finally got my refund.

Absolutely loved it here. We recently had a Christmas meal here and it was delicious. I was nervous as I am unable to eat gluten, but they catered for me so well. All the staff were super friendly but special mention to Martha for being so kind and helpful :)

We went here for dinner on a Sunday as a family, my husband, myself & our 10 year old at about lunch time. The food itself was OK. My son had a burger & he thought it was very nice. I had a curry & it was OK, my husband wanted the large mixed grill however they said he couldn't have it as they did not have the necessary ingredients for a large mixed grill which in essence was only an extra sausage & egg so I'm not sure how they couldn't really get around this, he ended up having the sunday dinner which he said was nice. The toilets were not the cleanest & 2 of the toilets lacked any paper & another 1 was dirty which is really down to customers but the signing sheet for toilet checks had not been completed since the Tuesday. The staff were lovely however & the main reason why I have rated this as a 4. They were very friendly & helpful & checking if everything was OK. We would go back here again as my son really did like the burger but I would have a different meal, it was very good value for money as there were a lot of meals on 2 for £7.99 which was what my son & I had so you certainly can't moan at these prices.

Visited twice within a few days. The first visit was very busy as it was a Saturday and Leicester city were playing at home and it was 2 weeks before Christmas. I found the pub to be a good mix of people of different ages some footy fans ,others shoppers and just people who wanted a pint or food. I was with my daughter and we both had a hot meal and a drink which was very good value for money . My second visit was with my wife who is getting bored of the local Wetherspoons so we went here for a change.We both had a light snack and a drink has we had a bit of time to kill before an appointment elsewhere The food arrived within a minute or two of her coming back from the bar and was piping hot and delicious,we both agreed that it would become our new local when visiting Leicester city center .

Came here for a work night out on a Saturday, music was good though the "DJ" if you could call him that was very picky about the songs he played, we requested a song by Queen only to be told we would have to wait half an hour for him to play it since he'd just played one by them, drinks are good price, only downside is that the ladies toilets are down 2 sets of stairs which if you have had one drink too many ends up being a challenge
