Reviews of Gynsills Farm - Dining & Carvery
A. “. l.
Nice place for a carvery I did feel sorry for the man carving the meat alone with a massive que and no help at all. Food was lovely. puddings are amazing!
S. G.
I had been to this place along time ago and was very pleasantly surprised to experience a much improved menu. A carvery is available but I had food from the menu. I can confirm that the food was cooked to perfection and my party & I enjoyed our dining experience. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
It's 5 stars from me.
G. W.
Wow that was a tasty carvery! Such a bargain, I had beef and gammon. Let me tell you those trimmings were all absolutely stunning and the portions weren't shy neither. Rebecca provided service with a smile. Let's go Gynsills!

Called here when we were in the area visiting my son and family, hadn't been in since retiring and moving away to live in Norfolk. What a surprise! The place has been transformed into a delightful place to eat with an amazing menu choice . We had the weekday carvery which was delicious with so much on offer and all freshly cooked. We, like most who went for this, couldn't finish the whole plate full! Don't know how they do it for the price, next time we'll go for the smaller one of the three available to choose. Might even try something else from the extensive main menu . If we decide to stay next time at the Premier Inn on the same site we'll certainly be having breakfast there too!

Lovely staff service was at a good standard. There were 12 in the group a mix of children and adults. Some had burgers, etc, and around four had the carvery. Unfortunately, all the vegetables were only warm. I just don't understand why the vegetables are not covered to keep them at a reasonable temperature, so they are still hot when you get to your table

Really nice atmosphere at Gynsills. Arrived to a lovely smiling lady.
Sunday carvery was really good. Excellent food nice and hot.
We were served by Rebecca. Although obviously busy she had time to chat which is so lovely. She couldn’t do more for us.
Even stopped to say goodbye as we were leaving.

Second visit to this delightful eatery. We don't live in the area but when visiting family we make a point of calling in which we did this week..
Both had the standard carvery and again we were more than satisfied with the food. We also managed to catch the waitress from last time, I think she was called Petra, and once again she was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Looking forward to the next time.

Been for a lunch time carvery today. Food was delicious. Meat cooked to perfection and veg was lovely and plentiful. A big shout out to Rebecca who served us. She was really attentive, nothing too much trouble. An absolute pleasure.
S.
Really lovely pub. Seems a little under staffed, but the food is amazing. Great choices, lovely to eat and fantastic value for money. Rebecca served us tonight and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
Would also like to mention Petra from this morning for breakfast. Chef let the breakfast crew down but she too was outstanding and very helpful. Would return.
D. C.
Went recently on 2 occasions once for the Sunday carvery and one for the buffet breakfast. Only had a short wait for a table on the Sunday despite the restaurant been full. The buffet was good value and all dishes were available and hot. The breakfast was also good value and presented well.
P. S.
Food tasty. Veg options for carvery limited to a pie. Order at the bar, not via the app as the app wasn't working properly when we went & had an extended wait for dessert, to be told our items were not available. Think they were short staffed the day we went. Staff did try though so can't blame them.
k. g.
Lady who brought our drinks to the table didn't even speak or smile but that was made better when Becki came over and asked us both if we were well(she remembered us from last sunday) ! She really works that floor and does it with a smile on her face and a caring attitude towards EVERY guest! Guy who was cutting the meat always polite and swift carving, food all hot and tasty, but please tell me WHY ARE THERE MUSHY PEAS ON THE CARVERY??? All in all a 10/10 great meal, good atmosphere! (I won't even deduct a point for the mushy peas 🤣)!
A. F.
Had a fantastic evening!Food was lovely, plenty of it and very festive.Staff friendly, helpful service couldn't have been better. Also DJ and music great. Lovely start to the Christmas weekend. Happy Xmas and New year to all at the Gynsills🎄 …
D. M.
Just staying for the night at the hotel next door, I found overall, the staff to be very helpful and jovial. However, at times there were not enough staff to accommodate the customers arriving, so there was a little wait, but they done their upmost to serve everyone as quickly as possible. I was served by Rebecca, Danielle and I think the manageress, who were all very helpful and polite. Would I stay and eat here again, YES.
I enjoyed the carvery meal very much and the beef was cooked to perfection, for my taste (medium rare)
A. G.
Really busy when we visited but we were given a buzzer to notify when there was a table ready. Didn't have to wait too long for a table though. Lovely food. Would visit again.
S. n.
Breakfast very good value and plenty on offer.
Carvery not so good as usually not warm and a few times only two meats on offer.
Staff have always been friendly and helpful x
C. B.
Took my daughter and grandchildren for a meal at the weekend. One staff member made us feel valued as a customer Rebecca. Had to move tablets due to flies and she found us another table. Food was good also.
W. H.
Had fab carvery a few weeks back. However, can be hit and miss depending on who is cooking. Also the earlier in the day you go the better in the late afternoon veg can be dried etc . Pudding area spectacular
M. R.
Dinner was lovely we both chose carvery and couldn't fault any of it. We were served by Rebecca and she was wonderful such a lovely lady and I hope her son gets into the college he wants once hes old enough.
a. m.
Good value for money carvery. Nice atmosphere. Child friendly. Our server Rebecca was lovely, very friendly, polite and helpful.
J. A.
First time for us at Gynsell Farm. Excellent food. One of the best carveries we have had.
All staff were pleasant but Rebecca was amazing. So friendly and had time to chat. I rather thought that she had just arrived on her shift as she was buzzing, but she told us that she had been there for hours. Loved her.
A. K.
Typical carvery good selection of vegetables. All cakes on the desert menu baked on the premises. Coped well with an influx of a group of 40 pre booked as well as their normal customers
M. W.
Very much in need of a, good clean. Dirty tables dirty crockery cracked le cruisier serving pots ( as can be seen in the web photos) with congealed mushrooms, no fried eggs ,scrambled eggs not very appetising at all, some mornings no white bread no muffins, Staff reasonably attentive and would help to find the missing pieces of the cooked breakfast, But really it's not the guests job to ask it should be there job to provide what is offered as we where getting charged for it.
T. B.
This was a first time visit and planned due to visit in Glenfield 'Town itself. We found all the staff to be very friendly, helpful that made the whole eating experience really good, a bit of a downside for me personally were two things, 1. There were not any cask beers, I was informed they had run out, this place is owned by Greene King group and there were three pulls on the bar. Has anyone else started to notice this places cutting back on Cask Beers???
2. As with many order and pay at the bar places, we looked for a suitable table unfortunately both tables we liked had been cleaned but certainly not very good, tables needed a clean and salt had been spilt over the 1 bench seat, the other table we liked was dirtier no salt but food on the floor.
At the bar we noticed a girl behind the counteron her phone all the time we ordered, paid Nd afterwards still on her phone during getting a carvery, surely management should be putting thier5staff to better use, the place was fairly empty of a lunchtime which I really thought that act service was good staff very helpful and there food I could not fault excellent all the way aprtfrom the two things I've mentioned and one star dropped for the cleanliness certainly room for improvement there, saying all this we will return and improvements will have been made!!
h. h.
Rebecca always makes us feel welcome, she has such a wonderful manner. Whether allergy advice, helping me to bribe the kids to eat veggies or just undertaking her general duties it is done with a smile on her face.
L.
Booked a table. Arrived and waited near the desk for about 10 mins while staff just walked by and totally ignored us like we werent there. We actually had to approach a member of staff to let them know we'd booked a table. Bar staff really slow and only a few people at the bar in front. Food was nice but shame about the poor service. The staff didn't have a clue what they were doing. Disappointing
D. Q.
Service was good which I can't say the same for the food. Lack of serious quality was the major problem, too many chips supplied with most meals. Even the carvery ws not of the highest standard, with most of the options lacking real taste. Very disappointing
Z. B.
Beautiful food, carvery was busy but well worth the wait, Rebecca was a fantastic waitress, bringing our drinks and clearing our table, very friendly and happy
L.
The food wasn't great but the staff were helpful, polite and very friendly especially Rebecca , she did her best to make sure our visit was a pleasant one.
F. B.
Liked the ambience. My steak was well prepared to order. Overall good food and good service. I visited on recommendation from a friend and wasn't disappointed
f.
I made a 5star review halfway through my visit because everything was going well and our host Rebecca was great. The second half of our visit was took a nose dive after we had eaten which is why I came back to edit it. It took around 20+ mins to get any drinks at the almost empty bar because the 2 staff that were there were preoccupied and barely acknowledged the few people who were waiting. This cut our visit short as it was such an effort just to get served at the bar that we all just decided to call it a night. Considering it was a Friday evening the place was extremely understaffed.
C. J.
My friend was poorly over Christmas so today was the day we had Christmas together. After a stroll round Beaumont leys we went for some lunch. We have never been here before and was very impressed with everything. Our server was Petra who was delightful, and even tho you could tell that Lui the chef was poorly the food was cooked to perfection,( best mention Richard too in the kitchen) it was all really lovely, couldn't manage a pud but the cakes looked amazing. So all in all its an 11 out of 10 from us. Wishing you all a very happy new year and we will see you in 2023.
P. R.
Fantastic staff, excellent carvery, and a great choice on the menu, not booked!! No problem they will seat you.
V. M.
A massive thank you to all the staff at the gynsils. Especially Dave for making our Christmas eve meal extra special. Going above and beyond as always. Love val val x family. Xx
J. H.
Had a lovely Christmas meal today! The portions were huge and the service from Rebecca was fantastic. She was so friendly and helpful. Defo recommend
H. C.
A family favourite of ours. We love it here for cavery. Breakfast could do with an overall though, they certainly need a few new toasters.
M. T.
Decent food. Understaffed and the staff that were there were not very friendly. Good children's area which came in handy.
S. T.
Rebecca was very lovely, there was a lot of us, and we asked her to take photos, and she took the time to take them even though we had to ask her to take quite a lot of them, she was very friendly and helpful.
S. K.
Lovely birthday meal out with the family. Our waitress Rebecca was there with any assistance we needed and was always polite and professional. Thank you
A. T.
Just had a lovely Christmas meal with friends, the portions were huge and were really lovely, the service from Rebecca was amazing she was very kind and helpful
S. L.
Tasty food but long wait
Friendly service from Rebecca
Food areas could be tidier
Please don't forget red cords in accessible bathrooms must reach the floor
C. H.
Excellent food, good atmosphere & excellent service by our waitress Rebecca. Will definitely visit again 😋 …
A. A.
Stopped her for a sunday roast. Food was delicious. Not too busy. Nice kids corner. Some of games were turned off. But they saved it with crayons and kids menu activities.
K. F.
Great service, Steve went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. Excellent customer service from Steve and Rebecca, it was a delightful experience.
T. A.
Had the Golden Years 2 courses for just over £7.
Plenty of gammon cooked to perfection.
Then apple crumble and custard which was delicious 😋
The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly.
The place was clean, plenty of indoor seating available, huge outdoor space with lots of tables too.
Easy parking, easy place to find.
Can't fault it, well worth a visit.
J.
Place is in need of a refurb. The seats were torn with foam coming out. Very uncomfortable. Everything else was fine
R. M. (.
I think the food quality depends on the time you get there and how busy it is. The chips were great but have to be honest and say not impressed with the carvery. Like I say I think.if I had got there earlier I would have been more impressed, edible not exceptional
A. 2.
Dropped in on the spear of the moment for a carvery and it didn't disappoint... for once,
It was lovely not so busy and the food was actually pretty good.
B. D.
I came to Gynsills Farm on a Friday afternoon. It was nice, pleasant and definitely got some down time to enjoy an afternoon carvery.
The food was nice and the whole experience was made great because of the fabulous customer service by Rebecca. A Friday lunch time well spent.
M. W.
This is where you get breakfast if you stay at the Premier Inn. First challenge was simply finding out what to do and where to go. Walking in at the children's play area, no indication of where to go to 'book in'. It's actually through the restaurant, up the stairs and to the plinth at the front door. No staff at all until I got there and found a guy behind the bar. Having paid I was then left to find a table. Nearly every one of them was set up in long rows...I picked the end of a row and set myself up. I got everything there and saw a ' reserved' sign at the other end. I moved to the only table for 2 which was in a corner. Then I noticed that ALL the other rows around me are reserved... Then a waitress appeared and I asked if there were any unreserved tables for 1or2? She took me to a table for 4 near the children's play area....a disabled elderly couple tried to go up the stairs to find a table but couldn't (I saw a lift later on). Continental breakfast was absolutely fine, the cooked breakfast looked totally unappetising with the eggs sitting there when I got there and still there under the heat lamp an hour later. Yes, it's Christmas and you are busy but you still have single travelers and couples to cater for. You still have customers who haven't been before. Think about them!
L. R.
We had such a good meal here last week! It was particularly busy on Friday evening, and although we hadnt booked a table, the staff were really helpful and found us one. We had a lovely carvery, and it was reasonably priced too. The cake display looked incredible, as did the ice cream display, but after our carvery we didnt have room for any more food! Maybe next time we will try the cakes afterwards!
A. S.
Rebecca was a great host, I suffer from autism and my carer started shouting at me, I got upset but Rebecca brought me a xmas cracker and made my xmas, thanks Rebecca
D. M.
Went for a carvery and it was very nice, lovely and hot and very tasty. All of us finished it all. It was so nice to have hot food, and a nice selection. Will be going again. Thankyou.
M. B.
Stayed in the adjacent Premier Inn. The only downside for me was the number of children, although there was a designated area for them, they were still being allowed to run around the place. If you have children this is a good place to go as they also have a small outside play area. Lots of outdoor seating too.
Large restaurant area. Food was nice, had two evening meals there. Pies are rather large but tasty. Eton Mess (we got the Sharing one) was massive but we ploughed on through and polished it off; had to have a lie down afterwards. The cake and ice cream stations looked scrummy but we did not partake. Had breakfast three mornings which were filling, poached egg cooked perfectly, croissants perfect size and nice and light, speedy toaster too. Great prices for the sizes of the meals, hubby enjoyed a pint of ale or two too in the evenings.
Unfortunately for me I am highly unlikely to eat there again, although I may stop by for a slice, or three of their cakes, but for the cost of the food and the fact it is child friendly is worth a visit if you have a young family.
H. M.
Pre wedding drinks with family and friends on Friday evening, Rebecca was a great waitress bringing out our food and drinks we ordered on the app as it was a busy night. Food was really tasty.
D. H.
Had a lovely carvery with my daughter. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Our waitress Rebecca was lovely and very helpful.
W. M.
Got served by the lovely Rebecca! nice service, nice smile made us feel really welcome, I’d come back to dine there again and just to see Rebecca’s smile, cheers! Wesley Snipes xx
L. T.
Had to wait an absolute age to get served And they weren't even busy !
We had a quick snack - it was quite nice.
My husband beer was rather flat.
S. C.
Had a lovely carvery today and Rebecca was so lovely and helpful when we needed her help.
A. T.
Stayed here for work, all in all the hotel was nice, clean, modern rooms, breakfast was served buffet style and was pretty poor in all honesty, particularly for the price. It starts at 7 I got there at 8 and it felt like the food had been there since 7. I guess on a busier day they would be replacing it more quickly. Evening meal wise, the chicken curry skewer was very nice!
A. H.
Food and service was good even at peak time, even though they were short on staff (post covid). They coped well with the amount of customers very well indeed.
T. L.
Carvery on a Saturday is more expensive than a weekday and the 2 very thin small slices of meat I could almost see through for being so thin. Definitely gone massively downhill since I last went. Won't be going back anytime soon.
C. M.
Had a carvery .while my other half had chicken medley absolutely delicious and filling its changed a lot since the new management have come in . I will be definitely making another trip here with the family in tow ... keep it up 👍 …
H. M.
My husband visited earlier in the week. He said nice food, good value and great, friendly service from Petra. Thank you
J. G.
Can't fault it. It's not fine quisine but nice food. Pudding portion was a bit too much of I was too critique it at all
P. H.
Carvery was really good, staff are lovely. A little bit slow if you ordered on the app, but I do believe they were very busy.
S. M.
Fantastic food , fabulous staff. Petra & Becka in particular were helpful & friendly. We'll visit this place again.
g. w.
Food good & plentiful, service excellent & staff very good. There is just no atmosphere, but it certainly wouldn't stop me going again
L. W.
Lovely service by Rebecca! Super friendly and the food was lovely too! Good portion size as well!
P. T.
My experience was satisfactory, the waitress Rebecca was very kind and went above and beyond to meet our needs.
J. V.
The food was great had to wait a bit because it was full but we all enjoyed it
M. P.
Very busy, but no problem finding table far away from kids playground, which I thought was a bit big.
S. C.
Great experience, Rebecca who looked after us was lovely made sure everyone was happy and the kids loved the ice cream.
K. F.
A bit of a hiatus queuing when they are busy, but great table service from Petra, to help improve the experience.
M.
We was served by a woman called Petra , amazing server , made us feel welcome and was very funny and positive
C. M.
Nice pub in a lovely setting, lots of greenery and a good beer garden. Could have had a better selection of ales and the food is average pub fayre. They do have a carvery which we didn't have on this occasion but portions looked generous.
s. p.
We booked a table for Mother's day 2022, glad we did as it was packed that day. I had the classic cheese and bacon beef burger meal and it was piping hot and serve to me in just over 20 minutes. It tasted great and I really like it. The others went for the Carvery, yes long queues and waiting time. I actually finished my meal before they came from the Carvery. Apart that it was great meal out.
G. P.
Service was good. The new team really friendly and welcoming. Food was nice too..
D. A. B.
Ok in the week but far too busy on Sunday with kids running round and long queues for the carvery
A. P.
Good for family, big parking, lots of eating area inside and outside is good size, drinks OK and food is good too.
S. H.
Had a meal mid week, as usual excellent food at a reasonable price. Jackie who looked after us went the extra mile to make sure that we were happy!
N. M.
Lovely food for first time visit.staff where very friendly I was greeted by member of staff called Rebecca .she was very helpful and very friendly Gynsills should be Honoured on having Rebecca as a member of there team . Will be returning again as happy with service and food .
S.
Greeted by pleasant member of staff we was told by the staff it was a 30 minute wait for a table but we only ended up waiting 2 minutes as there was only 2 of us and seemed alot of groups that night. We had the carvery which was very nice no fault at all a good selection of food to choose from especially if your like me and a fussy eater! Cake was delicious so many varieties, all staff seemed very approachable and always happy to help.
c. e.
Good quality food and very good value for money same as all farmhouse inn chain pubs. Nice and cosy inside with area for small kids to play. Big outside area some would be good place to visit in summer and winter.
W. J.
The food was quite good, although far tomuch lettuce in the chicken and bacon salad. It look more like something to share with a family of four than a meal for one person. The picture doesn't really give a sense of the size, it was huge!
L. P.
Lovely fresh carvery, served by Rebecca who was so friendly and efficient
L. W.
Had a good carvery at lunch but the beef was really tough couldn't eat it
S. C.
Really nice food. Wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly suprised. Even my fussy kids ate their dinner.
B. R.
Good place to have a few drinks and enjoy a lovely carvery
J. S.
Very nice family friendly pub, with large children’s play area. Normal pub menu with additional carvery, including vegetarian options. Very good value, only slight disappointment was that the carvery vegetables could have been warmer.
K. K.
Good cocktails.
Food was okay: my steak instead of being medium rare was medium( some bits even well done). I was expecting a little bit more for 15 quid.
They didn’t have a chicken skewers.
Tikka masala was good and mango chutney was amazing.
A. M.
Nice looking premises in a good location, close to ring road and motorway. Nice surrounding grounds. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced as are the drinks. Service was prompt and the staff friendly. Clean and well maintained premises. Good
C. M.
Met some friends and we had a lovely dinner and pudding and we were served by Petra who was friendly, professional thank you .
F. A.
Excellent. Very attentive staff, good food, good music, nice atmosphere. What else do you need…? 👍👍
J. B.
Visited here for the first time a few days ago, Carvery is good and the staff are friendly.
k. p.
Best time to go is lunch time was quiet. Food was yummy and cake was massive
s. l.
Great carvery today all the food was lovely and Rebecca was amazing. Thank you
A. W.
Was a brilliant carvery tonight (08/05/22)
Was very busy and a few hiccups and long wait times for certain things such as being served but was expected with how busy it was and everyone seemed rushed off there feet so no harm done.
But food was lovely
D. C.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Shannon was extremely patient and understanding. Food was tasty, well presented, well priced and good portions. No long waits. Breakfast was lovely. Self serve and of good quality as in most premier inns. Only thing to note is that if you like a nice coffee in the morning you will be disappointed. Sachets of coffee only available unless you pay extra for one from behind the bar. Seems a little unfair given that in most other premier inns there is a machine available for a variety of hot drinks at breakfast.
C. S.
Hot and fresh carvery. Husband ordered of the main menu, which wasn't great however the staff promptly put it right which is what counts. Love this place and we will be back ❤️
M. T.
Good food but a horrendous system of queuing for the carvery.
Complete free for all. I waited at the table with bags etc and was there 30mins before the mob came back. I then queued for 30mins! Lovely pub and great staff but the wait really put me off going back. Small bar under staffed for the amount of people waiting (another 20mins). Could be so much smoother with a system in place so you have a slot to go get the food. Oh, and a few small brats running round like loonies unchecked. No problem with kids or them behaving like kids but when they're being a pain and potentially dangerous (running back and forth at the food counter) I expect the parents or staff to step in! Well priced (mine was £10.95 for a large plate). Could be so much better but still enjoyed the meal.
S. P.
Whilst the food was nice I would suggest allowing babies/under 2's to be served their carvery quicker rather than standing in the queue with an 18 month old child who doesn't understand they have to wait for their food whilst screaming the place down isn't nice for anyone. The fact that they only had 1 person carving the meat etc meant we were stood in the queue for a good 20 mins whilst people were staring at me as I couldn't stop my distressed grandson from crying so much due to hunger. It would be better if they could be served their food first. I wont be returning to eat with kids again as I dont find it that kid friendly with the service. Its also not helpful for staff to walk by saying oh bless rather than trying to resolve the issue.
S. F. P.
Great food at really reasonable prices. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Gynsills, the carvery was lovely and so were the cakes, you can even get the cakes to go.
G. M.
Went again after I left a five star review other week food from buffet was bordering on Luke warm only ate it because friend had paid very disappointed......
n. l.
Lovely food friendly staff especially Rebecca made sure everything was right thanks you
J. F.

G. A.
Lovely warm welcome .
Decor in need of a little tlc but food was nice :)
J. H.
Lovely food and amazing service from Jackie as usual, she always makes us feel very welcome and is a credit to the business!
D. H.
Linked to Premier Inn. Large tired dining pub. Breakfast was fine and staff were great.
A. m.
Went here for dinner the other night, Jackie served us and was fabulous from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble for her. Would definitely visit again
S. C.
Great all you can eat buffet breakfast. Really good carvery but could have been a bit hotter. Service was a little bit slow owing to large amount of people who had attended a funeral nearby
L. W.
First time I've been there, would go again, breakfast is served up to 11am
K. W.
We came for Sunday dinner and everything from the service to the food was beautiful. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating when it came to my little girl's eating habits and they made her food exactly how she needed it! The carvery was cooked to absolute perfection and the staff couldn't have been more friendly they were all lovely! Will definitely be returning 😊
M. C.
Food was lovely, we had the carvery. It was very busy so i would book a table if i was you. Really nice place and the staff where friendly.
V. H.
Delicious roast dinner! So much to choose from on a Sunday. The parsnips are normally my favourite - delicious! The queues were very long for the carvery. You have to go up to the bar to pay/order, which took a little while due to how busy it was on Sunday. However, the staff seemed friendly. My favourite place to go for a roast dinner
T. R.
Service good, carvery fine except for hard brussels. Nice atmosphere, staff friendly. Just think you need to get your banners proof read before putting out to the public 🤭 …
R. B.
Came to the ginsells farm today with my family the food was amazing the staff was very kind and friendly we will definitely be going again .
S. N.
Lovely setting and restaurant. Friendly staff, needed more staff. Great food but queue for carvery snail pace. Chef was great, couldn't see why it was so slow. Good to take kids.

S. W.
Really nice restaurant and food. Just hard to find a table as they were full of plates from people before. Just really under staff. But was really nice.

It's was nice till I was put off with the plastic cling film found in side off the burger prices are fair I think the dessert look the best here that's where the 2 stars come from they do look good and prices is good for the size you of the cake you get as I was leaving I of course went to buy a bit of dessert to go home with and it was free due to the little miss happ before so nice and friendly staff oh and the dessert was nice toffee cheesecake
L. J.

G. A.
Very poor breakfast, the continental breakfast was really poor, no white bread, no muffins, no fruit salad, cooked breakfast was better but the sausages were awful. The service was good though.
M. W.
Carvery was to die for. Lovely and fab service
S. R.
Not enough staff tables a mess had to ask for stuff like milk bread
c. h.
Stayed the night. Had breakfast. Excellent. No complaints!!. The staff were all really friendly!
C. C.
We had breakfast here after staying at the premier inn. We paid £8.99 per person, per day and we were very disappointed. The food was either over cooked or very poor quality. Staff were lovely and did their very best in difficult circumstances
This was on both days we had breakfast with you so it was not an isolated incident.
I can't get in touch as you have requested as you have not provided any contact details!
N. K.
Everything was great . Service was nice. Rebecca was extra helpful and nice
S. F.
Lovely dinner, we all had carvery. A bit strange staff have to bring the carvery to your table rather than you carrying it so had to wait for my 1 year olds a little longer but it was OK. Served quick and staff were very friendly and helpful
K. T.
Lovely food...friendly and warm.
B. L.
Thank you for a lovely meal today and thank you Rebecca for your patience and attentive service
J. W.
Tried the Carvary Meat excellent but vegitables very disappointing chefs need training on cooking eg carrots Brussels cauliflower all pretty grim unedibal also Yorkshire puddings too big and dry!.
Will not go again Sorry
J. D.
Great service from the waiter Sean. Good atmosphere and good price.
A. C.
Awesome place , our family have been going there for years, never had a bad experience, prices for what you get are value.
P. D.
Attended a booking today and the person who took the booking hadn't put it in the diary so we were waiting around while they found tables. The guy who had to fix this was brilliant though and really did well.
We ordered our food and my meal should have been pie, mash and gravy. It came out as pie, mash and beans. We asked for the gravy which they then brought out. The mash wasn't very nice, quite stodgy and the pie was quite dry aswell.
The baby change/disabled loo is absolutely freezing though and my 20m old cried and clung onto me the whole time I was trying to change him. I can't imagine having to change a newborn in that environment.
The staff were good especially the guy tasked with fixing our booking but improvements could be made.
EDITED..
I have visited numerous times pre-lockdown and have never experienced an issue so I do realise it's not the usual standard. I was disappointed this time.
N. B.
Lovely meal and great service by Petra, thank you x
U. -.
Great place to visit as a family. Indoor small play area and outside one too. Nice large garden with lots of tables. Carvery looked full and nice. The seasoning on the potatoes was lovely. Great service from the staff. Highly recommend
C. R.
Much improved place to eat, staff are much friendlier than a few years back, only issue now is that people stand outside the main entrance smoking, maybe they could have an allocated away from the main entrance
C. L.
OMG New to deliveroo this is what deliveroo have been missing, someone to deliver a fab carvery aswell as other fantastic choices. Thankyou! I am very happy indeed and following my first review I have spoken with the manager who was polite, friendly and now have the carvery I was dreaming about. Honestly fantastic service, I strongly recommend ordering from here the food is good honest grub!! Oh and the desert was amazing fair play
N. H.
Came here for a mid week meal, lovely pub with great staff especially our server Jackie! Will come here again
V. B.
Great if you are not in a rush and the place is not busy. First time goers please install their app to make the process quicker for track& trace, ordering and input your card details. All this process took us some time although we planned to just have a quick 30min hot drinks. Staff might not be willing/happy just to take your details for track&trace and are often overworked/stressed/in a rush although waitresses seemed friendly and patient regardless of the pressure. Toilets could be cleaner/better maintained. Other than that and going forward this place is better than other local food&drink places so far although we are yet to try their food. Thanks!
M. R.
Food was great and the Waitress Rebecca was really friendly and great with the kids
M. B.
Our first time here last week wasnt great. The food was lovely but our baby has allergies which unfortunately weren’t taken seriously at all by a few members of staff and he had a reaction.
After an email to the company I received a phone call from the manager. He apologised profusely and asked us all back for a meal on the house with extra special care taken for our babys allergies (he has a fair few). He advised us that staff will be educated about allergies and how seriously they should be taken. He also said he will sit with us personally at the beginning of our meal and look at my sons allergies and what he can/cant have.
Weve been this evening and the manager was there straight away to take details of our sons allergies, and stayed in the kitchen whilst our babys food was being cooked to ensure there was zero cross contamination.
The staff were really friendly and our kids and ourselves had a lovely meal. Our baby has come home tonight and hasnt reacted which is a huge relief.
Great customer service and has made us feel we can safely return again at a later date. (This wouldnt have been the case if it was just left as the first meal)
M. H.
Nice veg on the carvery but the meat was a bit bland
J. S.
Great food, but 35 minute queueing to be served for the carvery, they spend more time and energy on the takeaway service often orders filled immediately, than guests inside waiting
n. m.
the service received from Rebecca was amazing we always come here but the service keeps us coming back
B. D.
Busy place, friendly staff and helpful, lovely meal and plenty to eat
S. W.
Great food !! Great service!! Loved it very happy and satisfied
J. D.
Lovely meal, drinks. Delt with an incident between 2 tables very quickly. Missing a star due some items missing of menu and no ice.
C. M.
Great good great price outside area a plenty for kids to run around
J. L.
Enjoyed a great evening. Food and service was fantastic. All staff very friendly and welcoming. All COVID safety measures were implemented. Felt very safe in a lovely environment. Service at the bar was exceptional . The member of the team on the bar was Alec. He was so helpful and advised on both my food and drink choices. Thank you Alec. You really went the extra mile
S. D.
Good place for a carvery(choice of plate size for every appetite) and other meals too (fish n chips, steaks, pasta, burgers etc).Good service and a good range of drinks all reasonablably priced.Located just off the A50 free parking and has a Premier Inn on site.Easy access wheelchair friendly and a lift too (down to carvery area).
C. W.
Lovely carvery, nice selection of veg. Swede wasn't great. Kids area was brilliant and kept my little monsters busy.
D. S.
Don't get me wrong it was all nice
But I do begrudge paying 9.50 for a plate
Of veg n potatos becuse the meat you get was 2waffa pieces of beef you don't go out for dinner for that 25 .00 for 2 dinners and 2 drinks come on put some meat on the plate
J. “. b.
Had a fantastic time at the turkey and tinsel, the atmosphere of the pub was great we had a brilliant afternoon with trish and Steve who did an amazing job entertaining us and the food was delicious all for £9.99 our party of 12 would like to say a big thank you and look forward to seeing you next year
M. G.
Rebecca was outstanding customer service helped my boys with there breakfast and very helpful
R. M.
This pub had loads of bad reviews, but we went to meet relatives there went at twelve o'clock, only one person serving behind bar taking food and drinks order had to wait for about ten mins before our order was taken, after that the food and service was respectable
J. T.
The menu isn't as broad as one would hope with an establishment of it's size, but the food on offer is usually of excellent quality, with large portion sizes.
Unfortunately on more then one occasion the food order has arrived incorrectly or has been over cooked, and thus has had to be sent back, although this is likely due to the kitchen being busy, it's hardly something you would expect when ordering something relatively simple to make.
The food overall is generally good & is the reason why this particular restaurant is one I regularly visit, however you soon learn to avoid the busy periods.
p. a.
Food was great apart from the kids mash potatoes, they were lumpy and dry so they refused to eat it, everything else was lovely.
C. K.
Was looked after by Petra. Very pleasant meal and service
S. M. M.
Lovely carvery roast and puddings are gigantic. Young waiter was very courteous, helpful and seemed an asset to your establishment
W. M.
After staying at the premier inn and eating here for 4 weeks straight, granted eating of the same menu for 4 weeks gets boring but thats not their fault, food was very nice, cant complain, staff were very friendly and overall very happy and always had a smile on their face, would recommend to anyone thank you to emma, chloe and alec for making me feel welcome. Cant fault the place
M. Ķ.
We go here regularly. Always lovely food, especially the carvery. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Has a nice little inside play section that children can play whilst parents eat as it's close to dining area. Our favorite place to eat with the family.
R. F.
Not been to The Gynsils in a long time. Was very pleasantly surprised by my return visit, attentive staff, speedy service, delicious carvery and very reasonably priced. Won't be leaving it so long until my next visit :-)
A. K.
Standard fare but this time the dude gave us more meat 👍 …
k. r.
Friendly staff, lovely food great price
D. T.
Food prices have increased alot. Food was really good.
Could have a bigger vegan option
t.
We visited today the food was lovely the place was very clean. There was a very friendly young man named Joseph thank you for looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed
G. B.
Food was decent but kept having to wait for things to be cooked ,no plates once no table spoons and very slow toaster. To be fair they were running Christmas dinners and Christmas breakfasts for the public.
S. R.
We stayed at the Premier Inn next door so went here for breakfast. I don't know whether they were short staffed this morning or what but there were dirty plates stacked high on a counter waiting to be taken out to the kitchen. I wanted a self serve cooked breakfast but they had run out of beans, tomatoes, bacon, mushrooms and had only 3 eggs left. 2 members of staff came out to check what was needed and it took an absolute age for replacement food to come out. Then they ran out of plates so another wait. I heard a manager say they had never run out of plates before, so maybe there was more demand than normal. Having said all this the food was lovely and I went back for seconds. The pineapple juice served in a half pint glass was delicious as were the 2 lattes and my husband enjoyed the croissants. Well worth the price. The staff were lovely too. Would go again as I think this was just a glitch.
A. P.
Visited the Gynsills Farm Dining and Carvary today while my father had a hospital appointment.
The service was excellent with friendly staff that can't do enough to help.
As for the food it was fabulous lovely and hot and I can't wait to visit again shortly.
M. O.
The Sunday carvery was lovely. The beef and gammon was juicy and veg to go with it was fresh and a nice thick onion gravy. The staff are very friendly, got us seated right away and made sure we were happy and having a nice experience. I would definitely come back again.
L. B.
Food was delicious huge amount and choice for the price. staff were lovely chatty and very helpful. Seating areas great idea having family area separate so adults without kids could enjoy a meal in peace. We came without kids first time was nice to sit in the adult area but will definitely be back with the kids. If I could give 10 star rating I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great atmosphere food and price
A. H.
Big portions and a great service by Rebecca.
B. N.
Only had breakfast there but expensive for what you get . We had continental at 7 50 each .really not much choice. Ended up with bowl of cereal and toast. No muffins or things like that very boring
L. H.
Rebecca was amazing. Very friendly nothing being any trouble! Thank you
R. E.
Staff there were very nice and the service was prompt. However I ordered sausages and mash and the mash and vegetables were dry and didn't taste nice. Also on the menu it said that I would get Yorkshire puddings with the meal however none were served with the meal.
d. q.
Rebecca was my waitress she was amazing all smiles and Very pleasant I will ask for her again
J. P.
A Busy Night - Truly Great Atmosphere,Staff Very Friendly, Truly Professional At Most Busy Time - Getting Ready For Christmas Season,Well And Truly Decorated Out Ready For Christmas,All The Meals - Came Pipping Hot And Enjoyable - I Recommend The Carvery - Choice Of Turkey,Gammon,Beef And Think Lamb And Go Up As Many Times As You Want For All Vegetables And Various Gravy's And Sauces - Well Enjoyable And Entertaining Night

Family meal, carvery not rated as high as Hobby horse farm carvery.
Some of us ordered ftom the menu and the food took a long time arrive at the table.
I. W.
Went to The Gynsills for a family member's Birthday but couldn't book a table for lunch and were advised to arrive at 2.30pm and wait for a table. It was incredibly busy being a Sunday and were advised there was around an hour waiting time.
We were pleasantly surprised when a table became free about 3pm. There were a wide range of choices on the menu and a 3 size (S, M, L) carvery with a choice of meats - gammon, pork, turkey and beef and a wide range of veg.
Very impressed with the food and staff. Only downside was how busy it was and not being able to book.
c. r.
Had fantastic vist yesterday. It was extremely busy but all distancing measures were being followed and tables all ready and clean on arrival. Ordered at the bar with Lexy who was bubbly and polite. Drinks were then brought to our table by Chelsea who asked us if we had everything we needed, and was very helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff. So will be bk again very soon. Thanks team Gynsills for a great vist.
S. S.
Lovely place nice food and lovely beer
w. s.
The staff are very nice welcoming and the food was great
M. G.
Great for Sunday help yourself dinner. Was a bit busy but always is.
G.
Visited on a busy Friday night. The food was good and what I would expect for the price. The main room was noisy and hot. The play area for children looked fun with consoles and climbing gyms.
Unfortunately the staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd - the service was slow to the point where we had to find a member of staff to ask for the meal after about half an hour. They were apologetic, but I heard complaints from other tables.
J. G.
Staff were very helpful, meal was delicious.
M. O.
Friendly and polite staff, meat was nice at carvery but vegetables were rock hard and the vegan pie was rock hard to with not much filling.
L. J.
Fab carvery with plenty of choice of veg. The large éclair was a firm favourite dessert.
N. L.
Had a carvery food was all luke warm and not much left plates were also cold. Most off the tables in the bar resteraunt were full with plates from previous occupiers and not clean we did ask for them to be moved twice but it fell on deaf ears so we moved then our self and cleaned our own table. Shame the food wasn't hot as the portion of meat we were given was exceptional and kind of saved the meal a bit hence 3 stars.
h. s.
I'd forgotten how lovely it is here , set in a lovely setting with good large garden area for children to explore. The dinning area is large and there are separate areas so you can choose where to sit , there is also a specially designed children's/family area. The food is reasonably priced , service was quick and the staff friendly . As we had stayed at the premier lodge next door we also took advantage of the full breakfast option , Which at 8.99 was excellent value and quality .
E. C.
Good value for money for the carvery. They come in 3 sizes and I had the small plate. It's about a fiver. Choose from 3 meats, I had a bit of each - roast Ham, Turkey and Beef. Served by a very cheerful chef. As much vegetables as you like. Staff were friendly and quick to clean our table. In my last visit I was there with a friend with a zimmer walker. They have a floor lift to go down to the lower level. It's wheelchair friendly so it's a plus.
s. H. -. S.
we have been there a few times before this Sunday. It was pretty good when it was just 3 or 4 of us, but when 3 families ordered a total of 11 meals it was a bit of a disaster! The food took an age to come out, then the stakes were well over cooked, some meals were cold, by the time the last ones were coming out the first ones had been eaten! NOT GREAT. Also the bar is always under staffed and they don’t serve drinks at the table, so if you wait 40 minutes for your food you need to manage you drink because you could be waiting 20 minutes at the bar!
r. v.
We visited Gynsills today as a party of 28. 20 Adults and 8 children for our church Christmas Dinner. We had a lovely experience and were made to feel very welcome. The food was tasty and plenty of it. Certainly no one went home hungry. Thank you very much for delivering such a fabulous festive meal.
d. s.
Absolutely lovely food. Thanks
O. R.
Great family friendly restaurant. Perfect for a quick bite to eat or just an excuse not to cook! The cakes are always a treat- vanilla slice is definitely worth a try!
L. C.
Rebecca gave great customer service, so friendly and polite even when it was a busier period!
G. G.
Pretty much a standard chain pub.
Usual menu that you would expect with all the regular pub dishes.
I have Chip Shop Platter - which was better than the one at my local similar pub as this had a battered sausage too. Food was hot and tasted fresh.
Other people had a lasagne, a burger and a steak from my group.
Food was all pretty good and hot and was all eaten.
There is a nice big car park too which is handy.
Was a little slow at the bar but it was really busy so you would expect that a week before Xmas.
Reasonable prices, nice inside.......a decent place to eat
A. S.
Waitresses were lovely - helpful and professional. The menu is good but a lot of the items were sold out - didn't think much of that. Asked for coffee it was cold - it was put right but should have been hot first time. With one of our meals bread and butter was offered but when it came out it was an awful looking bread roll - once again it was corrected but should have been right first time.
R. B.
The food was outstanding, one of the best meals out I have had in a while. Social distancing and service is very well organized. You don't even need to leave your table you can just use the Greene King app to order food and drinks and they bring it right to your table.
v. l.
Not too happy with the way that the plates were handled, yes I understand that allowing customers to dish up the food themselves would allow cross infections of the spoons and tongues but why can't we carry our plates to our tables like we did before CoVid-19.
It means that at least three people touch our plates which means more chances of cross infection.
L. C.
Nice atmosphere, carvery good as always. Meat nicely cooked and a good selection of vegetables
Plenty of parking available onsite.
D. L.
Took my friend on Saturday evening.we were very impressed by the service. Staff were friendly very helpful couldn't fault them. Food was excellent wide range. Meat was lovely and tasty we had salad with ours fresh and a very good selection. We will definitely be back thankyou to everyone
P. C.
Went Gynsills With my wife not been for a long time Because we had a bad experience But I would like to say lot better this time The food was good And the staff were very helpful I will be going back again Well done
R. D. O.
Service was slow. I had Ham and Eggs. The Ham was extremely Fatty, i had to cut alot away. The Waitresses were very polite. The Cleaning and sanitising of the Tables was done very professionally.
J. T.
Fantastic food. Went in peak time Sunday and we only had a 15 minute wait for a table. Great wheelchair access as husband in a mobility scooter. We had a short wait on getting served but can understand as it was very busy. Lovely pleasant staff and would certainly be coming back. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Jules and Neal Turner
M. E.
The wait at the bar was quite a while the chef serving to our table didnt seem to show good customer service levels for a pub and restaurant that would aim to give great service would need to improve for me to return
J. S.
Carvery bap was delicious but steak was too fatty, usually really good so not as good as usual
f.
Great place for families with kids as there is an indoor play area plus some consoles for older children to play on. There is a small outside park for young children. Great kids menu and lots of choice on the normal menu for adults with a great carvery option too. Fantastic range of cakes too and drinks and all good prices. We come here quite often with our 4 year old boy and highly recommend it. There is a separate dinning area for adults only so you can be seated away from the noisy children's end which is thoughtful.
l. b.
Friendly greeting, spot on covid safety in place, quick service, great choice menu, fair prices, large portions, delish fresh food, thoroughly enjoyed our meals, would reccomend. We will be back thank u😁 …
A. C.
The carvery is very good. The puddings are truly scrumptious! The display of puddings available is awesome (have a look online) and what you see is exactly what they bring you. A word of caution, each pudding is big enough for up to 4 people to share. Fab value for money and well worth a visit.
S. x.
Pleasant enjoyable food ... Good atmosphere.. fairly priced drinks
J. B.
Lovely location overlooking the fields & woods.
An excellent of vegetables to accompany two pieces of meat. Various "packages" available including Yorkshire pudding & "pigs in blankets"
Also renowned for serving large pieces of cake, as well as soft, alcoholic & hot drinks.
Prices for carvery meals vary according to the day of the week.
Veganmenu also available
R. M.
Cam today for breakfast with family, can nkt complain about anything, wide variety of breakfasts and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. Waiter on shift was very helpful and polite, brilliant customer service. Will be back again
C. D.
Staff very attentive and helpful, even though it was very busy. Helped get family member in wheelchair around. (I forgot to mention when booking!)
Carvery meal very nice! ! Beef very tender. A wide choice of vegetables which were very tasty too.
L. W.
Food was quite good but place wasn't very clean don't think we be going again
T. H.
I booked a table for five for our daughters 8th birthday as we regularly done here for a carvery Sundays. This was our daughters choice of venue. She had no idea we were attending. We asked our mother in law to come as she had heard good reports from us. She ordered a steak. We were advised the steak would be a thirty minute wait, it arrived within fifteen minutes of us ordering from the bar. Considering the establishment was full this was great service. I am a vegetarian and cannot recommend the mushroom and pepper pie enough it is beautiful. I have the same dish each time. Thankyou for making our daughters birthday a lovely day. X
P. M.
Although a standalone pub in its own right, its associated with the adjacent Premier Inn. It can be busy at times in the resteraunt, the fact speaks for itself.
J. R.
After waiting for 45 minutes in an empty restaurant the food came with dried out side salad and burnt hardened lasagne. After complaining we felt the manager was use to this and offered us cake time make up for this . felt like this was his usual practice , the kids had carvery which was good , would only recommend carvery if you go for dinner here
S. S.
The monstrosity that is the beef Yorkshire wrap (missing onions as advertised) would be more acceptable if the beef wasn't riddled with inedible grissle and fat. Cheap meals, quite expensive drinks. The saving grace is that the cakes are pretty amazing and the customer service is even better. Props to the staff and management. Lots of seating available and service is pretty quick even when reaching capacity on a Saturday night.
P. C.
Overall good service and nice food would definitely recommend
S. P.
Food was nice. Service was good.
R. T.
Great service by Rebecca today! So bubbly and funny, made it such a lovely experience. - Bex
G. M.
The Carvery food was really nice as always. The Staff was very friendly, and also very attentive. Our Table and the Cuttlery were clean. We all really enjoyed our Meals.
s. w.
Decent place for a meal when you're staying in the adjacent premier Inn as I was. Pretty good choice, good quality served & certainly a good quantity!
Separate family area as well which is good for both those with & without kids.
Staff friendly & helpful seems to be quite a popular destination for non residents as well as it was substantially busier than the hotel.
M. G.
Those that gad the carvery were generally disappointed. Those that had the cooked to order food were generally pleased. Mixed grill was nice not huge.
D. B.
I had a "ultimate" carvery which included a large square Yorkshire pudding.
The pudding was dry on the top edges, but edible.
Only 2 pieces of meat with the carvery and no in blanket offered.
Not too bad for mass produced food.
I complained via email about the lack of meat and I was emailed back with an offer of a free carvery on my next visit.
N. S. M.
Fish wasn't very good at all. It was all batter and very little fish and the fish was dry and tasteless. Tried to order cheesecake but they had run out by 4 30pm and tried to order 3 scoop ice cream but he said they didn't have any 3 scoop left which puzzled me 🤔 other peoples meals looked good so I guess I just got unlucky …
G. H.
Staff friendly and helpful. Food ok and reasonably priced. A few gripes, we were taken to a table near the walkway/stairs and were asked if it is ok. When we said we would prefer to sit elsewhere we were told there wasn't anywhere else. So why bother asking! The coleslaw was mainly grated carrot with very little dressing. They need a way to organise carvery meals and other meals to arrive at the same role
p. b.
Food was giod, had a Sunday Carvery, but they are under staffed. Long waiting times at the bar and app ordering even longer
E. F.
Lovely building set in a beautiful position surrounded by grass and trees. Inside rather dated and dark and tired. Carvery is good although veg. selection not as good as Grove Farm or Hobby Horse. All three are worth visiting.
H. C.
My 5* review for Gynsills is for a few reasons. Every visit we’ve been as a family we have had a great meal. The service is great along with the food and drinks. The indoor kids area keeps them entertained so we get some peace & quiet. The carvery always looks colourful and tastes flavoursome. If you’re out for a meal, I recommend Gynsills Farm.
Another reason for my review would be how they have handled Christmas with the current dealings. We have been dealing with Oliver who I assume is the manager. He rang us to put our mind at ease regarding Christmas Day & how our booking is secure along with any money we have paid towards it. He explained a pub safe promise which protects us against Covid. He emailed the menu booklet and asked for it to be returned via email all very safe & easy. He has promised to ring us again personally on December 16th to confirm the next stage after Borris announces any tier changes.
Very satisfied with all my dealings with Gynsills. We just can’t wait to go back!
A. G.
The food was lovely, the layout of the carvery clean and fresh. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The kids payed outside till dusk then played inside until we left. All in all a really good evening. The only criticism was that two of the four computers werent working and the kids were queuing for a turn. Second visit and same both times. Great staff, thank you.
S. W.
Very busy but only short wait for table.Good value for money carvery.Hot and fresh. Can't comment on desserts as too full after the carvery to try one but those we saw looked appetising..definitely will return.
D. C.
Dropped in for.a spot of dinner, noticed they had a nice carvery. It wasn't too busy, so didn't have to wait very long to get some food. They had turkey, gammon and beef on that night.
The ultimate plate gets you a Yorkshire pudding the size of a house.
K. H.
Food was brilliant, great value for money and extremely filling. App needs some work as we were waiting a while for our drinks only to find they hadn’t been processed but staff were helpful and quick to rectify the issue
J. M.
Cavery is back to serve yourself! As always delicious food and amazing quality meats.. plus happy to give us takeaway tubs for our 'eyes bigger than belly' syndrome
P. C.
Not been to the gynsills for a couple of years but thought we’d try it on Monday the food was fantastic and the staff were brilliant so we went again 2 days later and once again the food was brilliant so glad we’ve found somewhere decent
J. d.
Didn't have the best breakfast range but it was ok
C. U.
lovely food and great service from rebecca
M. C.
Really friendly staff food was beautiful will definitely go again
S. S.
My night at the Gynsills was a family reunion, we all had the carvery apart from one who had the CHICKEN and bacon salad, the carvery was well presented with a excellent selection of prepared vegetables all of which were piping hot. The salad looked amazing and apparently tasted amazing.
Really good selection of deserts I was easily led astray.

Been for lunch again today, now over the years I've found it hit and miss .But certainly on the last three occasions I've enjoyed it. It's very popular and yes I find it's better if you queue. They constantly top up the food so it's all fresh. Yes I'd say give it a go .I hope they keep this up.

Cheap and cheerful... carvery is brilliant on a Sunday.. not so good in the week. It was quite difficult to feed baby 7 month old as was only allowed to heat pureed food with boiling water behind the bar which was a bit of a nightmare!

Great food, fab staff, generous portions. Takeaway carvery was lovely - we had different mixes of items on each plate bit just shared it out so no one missed out!

Good service even when it is busy. Food is a decent size but nothing special. Standard carvery at a very cheap price. They had ran out of a few things when I went which was a big of a shame.

Really great place for kids as well as not as they have separate areas for dining. Like the other reviews the only down side is the lack of serving staff. It's very off putting when you have to wait for an age in a queue at the bar to order food or even just a drink. My suggestion would be to have a dedicated food order area separate from drink ordering and do not allow the staff to wander away from the food ordering section... that as well as taking on more staff.

Staff are brill, clean and high choice of food
Watch the potatoes and certain Veg, they seem to be frozen and cooked ta a rapid rate, be caution of the chips, they're very raw
Carvery is adequate, pre-cooked meats are warm but not hot.
Must try the deserts - you can tell their freshly made

Had a great carvery here with loads of meat and loads of choice. Very friendly staff and loads of puddings too. It would of been a 5 star if the Brussels were nice. Highly recommend a visit.

The food very nice and good price . The play area is nice and keeps the kids busy while waiting for food .
I had to problems today . Services at the bar is slow . Took quite a while to get served .
We also ordered two chocolate brownie sundaes but we got the normal chocolate browne cake . Abit disappointed with that .
Except those two things. Quite nice

Brilliant service, food is excellent. Here you are free to choose where to sit and view their beautiful surroundings. The meat portions are a little less than I would like, but, that's just being a little picky. I will definitely be going there regularly with my family.

Really nice pub with lovely staff and the cakeaway portions are massive! Carvery is proper decent too.

It was amazing medium carvery=heaven it was lovely. Staff are really nice and chearfull, halloween decorations are on point and drinks and cake are brill. The time it took to get our meals was a little while but it is understandable because we had a lot of people this time and the price is very reasonable, if you and your family are driving through Glenfield come here!

Good customer service on the day of our meal. Unfortunately I cannot say the same of their booking process. Can't book on line for their festive menu. They need customers to either phone or go in to book and pay a deposit. The latter us not always possible and trying to get through on the phone almost impossible. Phone messages not returned. Emails with menu choice not responded to. I was pleased that our table was ready and food of usual standard

Large old Manor house set in lovely location. Great food and has a carvery. Fantastic dessert counter. Separate eating area for kids. Out door sitting area and kids play Area. Beautifully decorated. Wheel chair friendly. Great prices

We came for a Sunday carvery with our friends and their dog, it was a very nice meal at a reasonable price. I would give them 5 stars however 2 members of staff had an argument with each other at the till which is not perfect customer service.

Nice food good prices. Customer services was brilliant. The lady (maybe a manager should have took her name) that helped us at the dessert counter was more than accomantating, when three adults couldn’t choose a dessert. One of which dropped her ice cream after spending 20 mins deciding, she replaced it and gave extra sauce. Top girl. Thank you

Carvery looked bland so went for steak, steak was nice, oven chips were okay, frozen peas were cold, staff were friendly. Think I'll try somewhere else next time

Really good food and great service

We ordered a burger and the hunters chicken. The burger was good. Hunters chicken was good minus the bacon. It tasted wierd. I can't describe it but it wasn't pleasant. We also had topped chips. They were topped with bacon cheese and bobs sauce. Barley any bbq sauce and the cheese had clearly been mirovwaved and was gross. Same issue with the bacon. I'm wondering if this was due to how it what the bacon was cooked in.
I had the hunters chicken a few weeks ago and it was amazing.

Food was perfect. Service from Alec was exceptional. Menu stands are cheap sprayed birch. Clear acrylic stands would be much cleaner and less germ harbouring. Coincidentally I make these. But overall lovely experience. Recommended

Premier Inn breakfast. Good standard, some items missing but can only be expected as this was just after the COVID restrictions on dining in were eased.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Maybe because we went on a Saturday and 1st visit here but found the whole dining experience organised chaos. I had reserved a table thankfully for 6.30pm and upon arrival others in front were being turned away. Was shown to table and told it's number but nothing else. Had to read menu to discover you ordered at the bar. Queued at the bar which had just 3 staff serving so quite a wait and finally ordered food and drinks. You're issued a ticket which for a carvery meal which you then take to the furthest corner of the restaurant fighting your way through people to get your meal. Fight back to your table to eat your now warm meal. If you want further drinks or desert then repeat the above. The food although cooled somewhat from the trek was ok. Desert was one of the speciality cakes which looked amazing and you do get a large piece but to be honest the one I had was very dry and probably at least a day old and not fresh that day as advertised. In summary I feel the whole place is poorly set out and disorganised. The staff though friendly looked frazzled with one with their head in their hands shaking their head. Not the most relaxing or enjoyable dining experience.

On Saturday I had the need to call upon the good will of the staff at the gynsills to help me keep an elderly gentleman warm and safe following a traffic incident on the a50 and they were fabulous. One lady in particular behind the bar was amazing getting us both hot drinks and making sure we had all the help needed. Never got chance to try the food but I'm picking my new friend up and bringing him for lunch with you next week to say thanks.

Had an amazing carvery here one of the best I've had. Keep up the good work. Very clea and tidy just as you want it.

Lovely place ,for adults and kids

A good selection of food at reasonable prices. Staff looked a bit rushed off their feet and despite a global pandemic I've never seen anyone wipe down a table.

Cheap and cheerful. Food good price and actually better than some higher end pubs i have visited. Can get busy.
12.04.18 visited again after a while and has gone down hill. Chips were cold, curry was watery. May consider alternative. Still, get what you pay for i suppose. Leave it up to personal preference.

A great place to go for a Carvery meal and a drink. The staff are so friendly as well .

I come here regually. The food has been great each time. Food from the carvery has been hot and tasty. Food ordered has been hot and tasty, not too long to wait. Staff here are friendly. Prices for food and drinks are very reasonable.
