Reviews of Hobby Horse Farm - Dining & Carvery
B. E.
Very big and popular pub style place with an extensive menu of traditional English pub food, carvery, grill etc.
The staff were very friendly and on the ball. It was very busy, being the Sunday after New Year, so there was a little wait for the food to arrive, but it was well worth it.
We had pie and mash and smothered chicken. The food was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh, including the veg, which is something a lot of pubs struggle with. The portions were absolutely enormous!
We didn't have room for pudding, but they also looked very good, and are baked on the premises.
The place is big enough to have plenty of family seating and a quieter seating area, and indoor and outdoor play areas.

Seems like there are spies everywhere! This one's friendly!
If I still had 32 teeth I would enjoy the half cooked vegetables more! Avoid a lot of red meat as when I cook it ,it ends up chewy! Perfect Yorkshire pudding is unlike those left over at home eaten with "Strawberry Jam"! Enjoyed it but got my friends order wrong as preferred a salad! Hoped to return today! Not everyone notices this picture near the toilets!

Was very busy, had not booked but was able to get table for 2. Had Carvery it was lovely. Lady serving was very pleasant. Food was hot, tasty, lots of vegetable choices. Waitress was lovely lady, helpful and cheery. Even though very busy all areas were very clean. Always completely wiping all table areas as soon as people left.
Well done to all staff.

Arrive early 12.00 before peak rush. Plenty of space and everything was well decorated for Christmas. Ordered quickly ( good range of drinks) with ease, 3 carvery and a chicken meal off the main menu. Our order from the menu arrived circa 20 minutes and was a success. The carvery had a great selection of meat, potatoes and vegetables for us to select . Good choice of gravey and sauces too. 4 very happy guests. No room for cake, so we purchased cake to go, which was absolutely delicious and a treat for later in the day. Staff we happy and attentive. Will visit again soon.

Popped in today around 12.30, Saturday, after shopping.
Carvery was great as usual. For £10 there's nothing to complain about .. kitchen staff got the gluten free gravy for me as usual when asked for.
Sat near the toilets... not affected at all.. plenty of room around tables...
We usually go for Sunday lunch which is a booked table obviously...
Staff attentive.... used the Greene King app to order...
Not had a bad experience here yet in the 10 or so yrs I've been going.

Absolutely loved our visit here. The food was lovely and fresh. The dessert- well hope you have a big appetite if your having the cake. What really made this visit though was the staff - they were all polite, very friendly and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. It's not my local but I will certainly be making a return journey ASAP. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!

We went out for dinner for my grandmas 90th birthday, and it was so lovely. We advised beforehand that we needed an easily accessible table for my grandma. Faith was brilliant, welcoming us inside and helping us to our table. The food was spot on, and the staff were all so friendly. We will definitely be coming back.
P. S.
Service & ambience were excellent, but food was average. We had the carvery but all 4 of our party considered the food slightly undercooked. Not impressed that the veg option for the carvery was pie only - not exactly a healthy option for anyone watching their weight or cholesterol. Maybe we had an off day so would try again another time.
C. R.
Was ok but when we visited last night they only had one meat on and it was beef, not everyone likes beef so I had to go without beef as not a massive fan but did get an extra Yorkshire. The carrots were a bit crunchy but everything else was lovely as usual. Normally when we visit they have turkey and a better selection of food.

First time at the Hobby Horse went for breakfast and I can say without hesitation that it was the best breakfast we have had in a long time the food was great and the staff were very good and friendly, Clare who looked after us was great and helpful but the food was outstanding the scrambled eggs were perfection in fact could not fault anything, will definitely visit again very soon. Well done to all, great visit
A. G.
First time I've been since it became Hobby Horse Farm, we all really enjoyed the food. It gets very busy as it's very popular. Save room for cake as they're huge! (Although you can have them to take away). Fancy returning to try the carvery soon
D. T.
Had the 3 course xmas carvery
Starter sticky chicken wings good
Main traditional Turkey plentiful
Red velvet cake and ice cream enormous and superb
T. M.
Good food, value for money. Clean and tidy. Only negatives were being greeted by a miserable member of staff when we first entered and not being acknowledged by chef/cook who was working behind the carvery counter when we went to be served and waited 5 mins, chef had gone into kitchen and different one came out
A. C.
It's a good pub. I just feel its a bit dark. Love the size of the Yorkshire puddings but they weren't crispy the way I like- they were soft... overall I'd definitely come back.
R. P.
On a whim, we decided that we fancied popping out to eat. Obviously, it was during a really busy Sunday lunch, and we were given one of those buzzing coaster things until a table became free for our party of eight. Five minutes later, we were seated at a clean table amid the chaos of a packed pub. Used the app to order our food which came quickly, the queue for the carvery was lengthy but moved at a fair pace. Only niggle was we were advised that the non-carvery meals would take substantially longer than they did so two of us finished our meals before two others got back from the carvery queue with theirs.
Overall, a nice experience, the staff were cheerful enough, pandered to our needs and we left with full stomachs.
C. D.
We had ordered 2 childrens meal, 2 adult burgers and a carvery. The carvery had a piece of dry looking beef and vegetables that were under cooked. One of the children ordered the cheese and bacon burger. It arrived without the cheese and bacon. Tiffany the waitress rectified the mishap and quickly resolved the issues. Great customer service 👏 THANK YOU TIFFANY
L. R.
Wow amazing carvary so tasty and you get so much for your money. We were a party of 11 and the service was fantastic. This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. 5*

Booked Hobby Horse Farm for a meal for my daughters 1st birthday as we have family in Lincoln and Birmingham so was Inbetween for everyone. There was 32 of us and I honestly couldn’t of been happier with the service and staff. Usually when there is a big group of people there is always issues, food missing and problems but nothing at all, everyone was extremely happy and told me what a good place we had picked. Jack was also an extremely helpful and a excellent member of staff managing the restaurant. Will definitely be returning.
A. M.
Good food. 7.79 weekdays, 10.79 weekends for a standard plate so awesome value. Quick service. Full belly = happy customer. Will come back.

First time we have taken our family. Excellent value for money, food was hot, filling and tasty.
The staff were polite and helpful.
Highly recommended
k. k.
Excellent. Staff were smiling and looked pleased to be there. Food was hot, cooked well, lots of selection with the Roast Carvary and tasted nice. No complaints at all. Keep up the good work.

I had a great time. I’m having trouble with my eating and Gary was so lovely he helped me. And I what u to tell him thanks please. Always enjoyed my time at hobby and over the years it’s always been a beautiful place
R. L.
Staff are nice and helpful. Carvery was OK but maybe wouldn't have it again. Good drink selection. Fun environment and very clean
R. W.
Was looking forward to my food but it was not bad but they roast potatoes aren't nice. But as for all the other foods was ok ..all the other food was ok it was just what you call roasted potato with there skins on is a no no ..but I am going back . as I have booked for my Xmas day dinner so I no what to have and what not to no worries
K. M.
Booked for the last Sunday of half term. Very very busy. Carvery looked great and people I was with had huge platefuls and clearly enjoyed their meal. Our 7 year old guest chose pizza and was really disappointed with the very odd sloppy cheese covered pie that arrived. For vegetarian coeliacs it was slim pickings with only one vegetarian main course option on the menu - my two plant based skewers, small jacket potato and pot of coleslaw looked a little lost on the enormous plate but tasted fine. Poor value at twice the price of the carvery meal. Puddings again were great for non coeliacs but very limited choice for gf. The Bakewell tart was good but sad I had to have vegan ice cream with it - some of the very definitely gf double cream being offered with the cake would have been good - or a better choice of ice cream and sorbet. Gf does not mean dairy free and I wonder how much was restricted because they didn’t understand this. The kids enjoyed the play area.
S. F.
My favourite place to eat, LOVE the carvery... I get the veggie pie option instead of meat. Great food, great service, great price.
S. M.
Great food and a lovely selection of vegetables, meats etc on the carvery. Would highly recommend to go here. Noticed carvery prices had increased still worth it though.
J. C. (.
Very reasonably priced food, the carvery is fantastic but can be hit and miss on what’s available on a specific date. Dauphinois potatoes being rarely available - but otherwise it’s great and strongly recommended.
J. M.
Just popped in for a drink for my daughters birthday she is special needs so Rhys let us sit in a quiet area which was great. The lady at the bar think her name may have been lexi or something like that ,she was lovely and took time putting a candle in a glass of coke.
S. S.
Best pub in the area, we love visiting it, great food, beer and atmosphere as well as staff who always make us feel welcome. Exceptionally great service from lady called Faith.
s. ?.
Amazing breakfast lovely and hot the staff are kind and always check to make sure everything’s okay Claire made it really welcoming great service thank you very much will definitely come again
K. C.
Not soo great food and some of the food on my plate was almost cold. The staff did not help as one of the chairs was dirty and they gave a tissue to clean it and they did not clean it, I would of expected them to use a cleaning spray and wipe.
S. F.
Arrived at 19:00 on Saturday night, they stopped the carvery after 20:00 and the bar at 09:30. Seemed quiet.
L. S.
Cheap. Clean. Food decent enough. Gary top chap always attentive every time were in always like to go extra step.
S. P.
Lovely evening celebrating a birthday nothing was too much trouble for our server Mary anne, brilliant large meals and fabulous puddings 👌
M. G.
We were looking for a coffee and found a Harvester. A cheese and pickle bap went very well with that. Very busy but good atmosphere.
N. M.
It took a long time to serve drinks and the full selection was not out.
The staff were friendly as ever and the food is consistent
J. R.
First time we had been there eat as much as you can brekki staff were very polite and helpfull lots of room. everything was as it should be my advice would be always try some where yourself rather than listen to other people defiantly a place we will be coming back to good job guys
j. f.
This is in my home town, so I'm a regular visitor here.
A lovely lunch, carvery was very nice as always. Pleasant staff. My friends always request to come here for lunch.
Thank you to all of the staff.
19/10/22
Just booked for Turkey and tinsel lunch & Shaking Stevens tribute will be on, can't wait! 🎄🎄
h. s.
Lovely breakfast this morning, celebrating a birthday, the manager even give the birthday girl free cake. Much appreciated thank you
d.
Nice Carvery. Shame they didn't have any of the salads which were on the menu or the other dish we asked for (sorry can't remember what that was now).
K. M.
Decent pub with in and outdoor seating. I haven't been on a weekend but there is always lots of space during the weekdays at lunch and the menu food is decent, not too expensive and portions are good. There are a decent amount of vegetarian and vegan options available. You can usually get a meal deal as well during the week which makes the price worth it. Service is good and staff are polite and friendly. There's an area for kids both indoor and outdoor, with some arcades and some playground equipment.
G. H.
It was an extremely busy Bank Holiday in the Hobby Horse. We were quite lucky to get a table as someone had left moments before and the table was prepared for dining. The staff was amazing - on their toes, dashing about. They were very polite and made you feel relaxed. We both enjoyed our lunch - point to note, the food and plate was very hot, as it should be. This is a big criticism of mine. In many pubs and restaurants the food is not served hot enough and sometimes on cold plates. The food was delicious. It was only after we had been seated for a short time that we noticed the carvery. We shall definitely head that way next time. A huge well done to all the staff on duty today coping with an extraordinary amount of diners. We'll see you soon.
J. D.
This was extremely busy when we called in, staff were excellent, the food on the other hand was ok at best.
J. P.
Real nice and inviting; popular too, staff were really run off of their feet and this can challenge the quality of a service anywhere however I did not personally experience any issue; the staff were polite, patient, courteous and helpful and our group was a very large party of people!
I ordered from the Carvery and it was good; meals from the menu looked really good and the prices are really competitive! The dessert portions are eye-wateringly large!
Accessible disabled toilet for those who need; amazing play area for children and a well laid out beer garden outside! Large carpark. Really nice 👍
Only issue, our party was booked a week in advance; needed to call them back before our booked date and discovered that our booking was not even booked-in 🤔, an oversight but if we had not called back and then turned up, could've been an issue giving the size of our group.
N. H.
Delicious food and relaxed, not rushed in and out, had a lovely evening. Looks beautiful for Xmas too
C. E.
Good food. Recommend making a booking via website 2 hours before service.
A. C.
Very busy when we went on a Sunday afternoon. Waited about 15mins in the queue for the carvery. We were with a friend who had steak instead of the carvery, that turned up and he'd almost finished it by the time we returned with our food. Good choice on the menu. Order on the app so you don't have to get up and queue at the bar. Big car park. Decent prices. Recommended.
D. “.
Great meal with the kids, things for them to do whilst waiting for food was brilliant
L. E.
Excellent manager. Helpful staff. Food arrived quickly you get what you paid for. Suited us on our way home from a day out. Looked after perfectly. Thank you.
S. R.
Great family feel Pub with a good menu that has lots of choice & a dessert parlour 😋 food is served hot & in big portions. It also has a lovely play area for children 😊
S. C.
I pre booked a table at the Hobby Horse for Father’s Day which was my partners idea as he knew they had a kids play area for our child to enjoy. It also has one particular machine where you put a £1.50 & win every time. It was so busy, great atmosphere! Very nice welcome. It was very well organised. We all had a carvery which was beautiful. The people working there were so happy & friendly & one in particular waitress (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name) our table number was number 31 booked for 1:15 if that helps her to remember us or the lady. She went above & beyond. When my family went up for the carvery. She could see our child was in need of different distraction & brought over some crayons & doodle sheet It was so helpful while waiting for the food to arrive. She waited on us any time we needed service. Majority of the time we didn’t even need to ask. She just came over & asked if we were all ok. Our child loved the play areas. Great family place for dining! Highly rate!
Z. G.
I'd give service 10 stars if I could . Clean , friendly and the food was delicious. I had a hiccup with my pie and that was soon resolved and I went home a happy customer
Would highly recommend and will definitely return . Was served by Claire ..lovely lady 😊
D. H.
Much better than the usual restaurant of those type (table table etc), basic but decent food served quickly and with friendly staff. Great dessert options too.
j. G.
Very good lovely carvery good selection of veg.meat perfect..sweets wow never seen anything like them..and the staff brilliant nothing too much trouble for them thank you all very much
k. r.
Been to hobby horse a few times now, once for a breakfast buffet which was yummy but you can only go up once so stack your plate! The most recent was a sunday, heard good things about the carvery but after seeing the queue of people waiting to get served for the carvery I decided against! Instead I had a portion of chicken wings to start with, decent with the added dips. For mains I was craving sausages and mash, the portion I got was incredible! A Yorkshire pudding which was the size of the plate! Stuffed with mash, carrots, peas, fried onions, sausages and a nice thick gravy! Was tasty but had better pub food. Can get very busy! And if you have enough space after you meal, check out the cake stand!!
J.
This place is rammmmmmed on a Sunday. Decent value for money but they were out of soup on that day. The carvery was good, the fish and chips was great, veg breakfast was ok
G. G.
Went for breakfast, good selection and very tasty. Prices are average, iv seen other places much more expensive and not as good. Would recommend and come again. Also very friendly staff. Thanks
L. P.
Went for all you can eat buffet breakfast.
Claire was a fab host. Veggie, vegan, kid friendly, carpark and accessible
c. c.
cheap, fun, friendly place. Sunday buffet style breakfast is a very good idea. can chill and eat whatever you fancy. but the only down side is that if you go after 10am the food runs out and you have to wait a long for the kitchen to bring the food out. and the black pudding were super dry and hard due to sitting out for to long. but overall is okay and go earlier for the buffet style breakfast. oh and even coffee and tea were out too... a lot to improve.
H. H.
Fabulous carvery, great selection of potatoes and veg. Staff brilliant attentive and checking everything ok, great value for money
N. M.
A lovely selection of carvery, ever so clean and well organised and the host whom seated us was a lovely young man, 5 stars from me
M. B.
Great food and nice environment. Try the carvery and go for large and I bet you won't have enough room for dessert :)
S. G.
Fantastic establishment, beautiful fresh cooked food and a good atmosphere
B. P.
Had Laura and Karen this morning and gave us an amazing service, and the food was done to perfection. Will definitely be coming back again.
J. B.
We was served by maz we give 10/10 very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble we was in a party of 6 and we all agreed pity the meal wasn't very warm
C. J.
I went with my mum and daughter for a midday lunch, daughter loves the play areas, and the staff are lovely, Claire was our server, friendly and lovely, food was spot on
D. R.
Every Monday for the buffet breakfast, excellent quality and value. Loverly food and staff, especially Claire.
C. A.
Been coming here for a few years now good is always nice everyone is friendly sometime feels a like crowded but doesn't ruin the atmosphere
F. P.
Great place to eat with my kids, Tiffany served us at our table and couldn’t ask for anyone nicer to make our visit a pleasure.
A.
I just want to say me and my son and mother had a amazing carvary here tonight amazing atmosphere and Katie was friendly and kind to us are hole time here definitely be returning soon
J. H.
So the good, good quality food at good prices.
The bad, huge queues for ordering with inly two members of staff taking orders. Waited over an hour for our starters only to be told the mains were coming out at the same time. When our food arrived some orders were missing parts of the food which is a real shame. Didn't complain at the time as we didn't have time to wait for them to sort it out.
Customer service was sadly lacking as we had half the table still eating when they were trying to clear plates which is just a bit rude unfortunately.
M. U.
It was a sudden plan after my husband came back home from work. Quick acknowledged as we entered .
Didn't have to wait too long for our order. Food was great service was excellent. Atmosphere was good .
So well done to the teams ... 👏 🙌 👍
L. W.
The staff was amazing. Marvellous service.
Also great that they have a play area inside.
We had the carvery, which was alright.
We didn't like that the play area had several grab machines and alike. Very inappropriate for a play area. It is, after all, a pub, not an arcade.
We also would have liked to be asked whether or not we want to sit next to the play area. We prefer our children to sit through their dinner, which is a hard rule to stick to when you have ten other kids playing right next to you.
Would definitely visit again though. Staff could not have been more attentive.
B. H.
Good place to go but on busy days expect long wait but I wouldn't blame the staff for this, but would recommend still
A. J.
Really enjoyed our meal today, as always.. Manager and wife always go out their way. The manager asked if we were celebrating anything and granddaughters said it was grandads birthday so he brought him out a massive slice of cake. This couple use to manage the Red Lion in Rothley and were a massive asset to the business, such a shame it's now a Miller and Carter but on a plus side a massive asset to the Hobby Horse in Syston.. Also all the staff are really helpful and cheerful. Another sign of good management...
R.
Great carvery at great price.
Visited during a very busy time on a Sunday and the staff worked hard to solve any issues. Kids play area was not the best but it's not meant as a fun factory.
Nicely decorated for Christmas.
Unfortunately the lighting was not the best in our area and the table and menus were a little sticky.
Overall good food at a reasonable price, friendly staff.
K. l.
Great service 👍🏼carvery Meat and veg can be a bit hit and miss but overall good quality for the price.
N. P.
Food was very nice. Claire was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back
S. G.
Nice roast dinner with plenty of options. The kids love it with the play area
S. J.
A really good carvery. Can’t say much more about the food. It’s tasty.
The pub is pretty crammed and the queue isn’t the best…
Also the kids area is definitely a 2/5, not much to do, just stuff to put money in… not entertaining really.
A. W.
Update: visited with family at the weekend. Food was excellent my mixed grill was cooked to perfection.i like that they have a less formal area at the back where kids can play on various things and you can also see them through the large window of they are playing outside. It's okay if your kids are a little noisy let's face it were all in the same situation. No rush to clear us out so we started and had a few more drinks. Lovely staff very pleasant and ready to see to your every need. Disabled toilet facility was nice and clean as usual. Recommended for families and larger groups.
First time out to eat in 12 months was very anxious about being in public again but I can report that it was thoroughly enjoyable. Excellent covid set up lovely food nice clean disabled toilet. Great prices nice staff perfect thank you x
C. H.

R. R. P. S.
Was very busy Sunday,so only was allowed to order burgers or have carvery, a little disappointed, carvery was not that nice.
J. P.
Had a lovely carvery and the staff are lovely especially Laura couldn’t be more helpful
J. J.
Great food, reasonably priced. Friendly staff. With a good selection of beers wines & spirits. Social distancing protocols & hand sanitizer are in place👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
v. b.
Very busy but quick service and nice quality food. Cleanliness post covid rules needs some work. Shared serving spoons in the carvery a high concern for virus transmission and toilets particularly doors and handles were very sticky and dirty.
A. F.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Gary and Jack were absolutely fabulous they couldn’t do enough for you
B. W.
Carvery as good as always. Service from Tiffany was great, especially how busy it was and as she’s new to the job!
C. h.
We travelled for a family visit, from Cheshire. This restaurant was very busy & extremely organised.
The staff worked professionally & courteously throughout our dining experience.
We compliment Gary & his team, for working effortlessly on the busy pre~ Christmas period.
The meal (we had mainly carvery) & the children enjoyed the 'kids menu' it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was reasonably priced & service was timely. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you to all concerned.
P. W.
Good value roast. Veggie pie was delicious. Good service, friendly staff. Tables cleaned well between customers. Warm. Just what we needed on our drive home.

Great Place to Go for a Delicious Sunday Carvery, the Food is Great and the Staff are Wonderful!!
S. B.
The meals is delicious there, even they put baked beans in a seperate small dish so it dont run into the gravy they give me for the pie. Especially the pudding and will look out for updated menu then i will be back again oneday.
A. E.
Great Sunday Carvery at a very fair price with different sizes to suit. Everything cooked nicely and the staff very friendly. Only criticism is the 3 two seater tables need removing because people walking past are virtually catching us whilst seated eating, table 28 and the 2 others. Being so close to the only entrance and exit made things seriously busy with zero privacy.
K. M.
I must say we Came here for a drink and a Meal’ Maz the lady who showed us to our table made us feel most welcome’ she went above and beyond service’ made us feel most welcome indeed, we will certainly we be coming back’ 10/10
D. S.

T.
Clean, great food, lovely staff, well done Laura, I. e techno savi.
B. W.
Haven't been here in years. So glad I did what an absolute brilliant carvery at good prices. Definitely be back. Very friendly staff.
A. P.
Friendly place to bring family. Carvery is very popular here, though there is plenty of good choice from the menu.
B. F.
Been on a few occasions and always had a fairly positive experience. Most of the staff are fantastic - Jack in particular, I accidently left my purse once mid-covid and he found me on Facebook and ensured I got my purse back. There is one lady who works there (usually breakfast) who is quite sour and miserable but the rest of the staff are pleasant and helpful.
Been for both breakfast and dinner carvery - veggies on the carvery can sometimes be a little undercooked but overall I've never had an issue. Cakes are also beaut but they're HUGE!
J. A.
Visited here two nights in a row whilst on a short trip to Leicester with my children. The staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. The place is v large and was very busy both nights (a weds and thurs) but we got our food quite promptly. The food was amazing for the prices and the carvery was dished up generously, the servers were really friendly and the food was so good.
The place is ideal for children with indoor activities and an outdoor play area. If you visit here and love cake - buy a piece to take away, you will not regret it
R. L.
Called in for a snack and coffee; fitted the bill splendidly and the staff were a credit.
T. M.
A group of us went for lunch. We had the Golden Years meal deal. Both the carvery and dessert was excellent. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Will highly recommend.
K. O.
I'm shocked to say I enjoyed breakfast.
Used it as a stop over in the way to the NEC good choice....
p.
Wentvthere for brekkie with the family so cheap and a great breakfast buffet and menu to also order from👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
K. A.
Another honest review
The food and the staff were great.
We had friendly staff and good food both from the menu and the carvery. Well deserved 5 stars.
S. W.
We visited on Tuesday evening for a quick bite to eat, we found all the staff friendly and efficient. We were warmly greeted by Cam and seated immediately and the bar staff took our order and sorted drinks quickly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. Well done and thanks guys.
K. Y.
Popped in for 5 of us today, the manager and staff were very warm and welcoming.. food was lovely too thanks 😊
K. K.
Our favourite place; however over the years service has really gone down hill, and this I believe is largely due to lack of staff.
I feel embarrassed to say food is not right or its cold or its the wrong order ect, beacuse I do appreciate how hard the staff are working. It is not going missed we see you stressed and tired! So it is a little hit and miss these days and I do hope things improve. Despite this great atmosphere, friendly.
They have the best vegan fish and chips, and they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes, including vegetarian carvery. Nice selection of deserts. I liked their table service during lockdown unfortunately not there anymore.
Great to sit outdoors in the summer. Dog friendly, our dog loves it here, he gets his very own carvery.
Outdoor and indoor play area for children.
They offer blue light discount.
Overall a nice place to bring friends and family.
s. b.
Lovely carvery, very nice an friendly very helpful
N. B.
Visited on a Monday evening for the first time in 18 months. Ordered the carvery and was very impressed 👌 all perfectly cooked and very generous portions. Will definitely be using on a regular basis from now on.
Well done to all the hard working staff.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊 Many thanks.
K. B.
Friendly staff and nice surroundings. Stopped on the off chance of being able to have breakfast. Welcomed despite not having booked, and were shown straight to a table. Drinks brought to the table and we then went to the hot plate to chose what we wanted to eat. Nice food and fast service with jolly friendly staff. Recommend!
R. J.
Unbeatable value. Eat healthily or have your week's calorie requirements in one sitting
C. D.
Food OK but needs air conditioning. Great staff though.
D. R.
Large dining pub, clean and nicely decorated. Although there's a fairly extensive pub fare menu the place does specialise in their roast carvery. We had a couple of burgers which were great and a small carvery which was ok although some veg a bit hard. Overall a pleasant experience and good food. As a 61 year old I was amused and slightly depressed to find I qualify for the "golden years" reduced portion size menu - just liquidise it and serve it to me with a straw.... 😁
R. J.
The food was gorgeous and quick for the amount of people there were.
A. H.
Always very busy had the carvery it was decent but not outstanding
P.
Staff Christmas party
A. G.
Quick services, very good selection on the menu. Friendly staff
S.
I will never book on a Sunday again. Too busy, vegetables undercooked, turkey had pink juice running out of it. We usually really enjoy the carvery but will book in the week next time
A. K.
Had a great meal with friendly staff.
D. M.
Took my family for a carvery. Was very nice service, staff polite. Only thing we were disappointed with was the vegetables, the Brussels carrots, and broccoli we hard, not cooked enough
. Apart from that we enjoyed the rest.
J. A.
Great breakfast and I love the unlimited coffee or tea
V. B.
Lovely atmosphere.
Good place near house
A. 2.
Love going here for a breakfast. Nice buffet with the usual full English choices, toast, tea and coffee all for under £5. The food also taste as good as it looks. I would definitely recommend it...
Update: they've know changed to an all you can eat breakfast for £6.99, same great tasting breakfast now with the option of eating all you want.
K. Y.
Lovely carvery on a sunday afternoon, nice atmosphere and food!
E. C.
Good food, Nice service and fair prices.
A. F.
Had the carvery, some of the veg including the roasties could have been better but to be fair cooking the quantities they do to time it when the last batch run out, mustn't grumble
r. j.
no table service? was told to order at bar or via the app. The queue for the bar was massive. The drinks took ages to come from ordering on the app because the people being served at the bar took priority..
Poor bloke behind the bar looked like he was going to pass out he was so rushed off his feet. asked a waitress why we couldn't order with her and she said no one was allowed to do table service. felt like the floor staff were a bit out of place and feeling redundant because there wasn't a lot for them to do other than clear tables and stand around talking to eachother.
Food was nice however. Love the carvery and the kids liked their puddings
P. P.
Lovely Sunday roast never goes wrong, homely and perfect for families
P. J.
We went there a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic apart from the young manager crying in the corner this is not the norm as we have been a few times and every time the service has been impeccable.
The carvery was hot and tasty and we took a giant eclair home enough for two of us.
Would definitely recommend I live locally I am very lucky to have a place like this so close to me why would I go any where else great service great food and very safe.
Thank you Hobby.
S. T.
Faith was amazing, the service was great the for amazing and everything reasonably priced
B. S.
Never been for a meal here but food was fabulous and carvery looked delicious. We will certainly be going back to sample it 😀
L. R.
Sitting together relaxing after a day's work. A great place to relax. Thanks.
T. S.
Good carvery here. They do small medium and large for old young and mighty eaters.
S. H.
Food was nice, the service was friendly (Talia) the place is clean.
Come quite regular and usually an enjoyable meal.
M. J.
the Food is Great and all For Staff Are Helpful
D. K.
Lovely, great service Claire and tiff thank you
M. S.
There were 6 of us, we had a nice meal, the carvery was good, the Yorkshire puddings are enormous! The staff were very helpful.
T. H.
A lovely place with friendly staff, good food reasonably priced.
A large menu with plenty of choices, outdoor seating area, children's play area.
I would recommend this place for a visit, you won't be disappointed.
Try the carvery...
R. W.
This is a standard Greene King Farmhouse pub. The menu is not extensive but the food we received was adequate but not special. The access to the pub is disability friendly both in and out. Toilets were adequately spaced and some facilities prohibited. Staff are friendly and polite and helpful.
C.
This is your standard family friendly gastro pub. It closed for a refurb a few years ago but it’s already shabby again. The food is ok and the staff aren’t very helpful.
V. G.
We love coming here for a carvery, the food is good for the price, (but could be a lot warmer,) but mostly it’s the staff, they are all so very nice, especially a lady called Clare, she couldn’t do enough, so helpful and friendly, and it’s people like Clare, that makes it a great time out,
J. O.
Stopped for a snack! Staff very friendly - Claire was so lovely and her customer service second to none! Thank you for looking after us and our little dog 🙂🙂
S. F. P.
Wonderful food at fair prices. A great place to take the family for a special occasion. We really enjoyed the food, the polite and helpful staff and the overall aesthetics and ambience. Plenty of parking and accessibilities for people with wheelchairs.
B. S.
The staff were very good and friendly without being over familiar.
We had the carvery and it was very good. A wide choice of vegetables. The meat was nicely cooked.
The choice of plate size is an excellent idea and very good value for money. It was very busy which shows how popular it is.
F. T.
Had another lovely meal here tonight 😋
S. “. S. T.
Was served by Claire at the bar. So friendly and professional and made us all feel really welcome. Carvery was lovely and if I'd had any room left, the desserts looked like heaven sooo large! I had a bad experience here about 4 years ago and Claire and the chefs have completely turned it around.
s.
Lovely food and friendly staff especially Maz
C.
We come here regularly Amazing service wouldn’t be the same with out gary he’s brilliant!
A. G.
I reviewed earlier but didn't leave a written review as was busy, I got a thanks for the review which itself is rare. The service was excellent and my granddaughter was presented with some food whilst we waited, this was really exceptional awareness from the member of staff, first class
L. B.
We came as a family of 5 just before lock down again. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. The service was very good. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food came within 20 minutes and was hot and plentiful. We were stuffed so decided to take some of their delicious cakes home with us. Fantastic food and service. We will definitely be visiting again
M. M.
Lovely buffet breakfast. Great place to meet family and friends and enjoy nice food.
V. A.
The carvery seemed to have really gone down hill. The potatoes was a soggy mess, no crispy ones, mash potato lumpy, the Yorkie was tasting stale. I'm glad it's gone to pre-covid times were we can pick our own food. Sadly no salad bar like there use to be where I could pick some bits and bobs also. I'm glad I only paid £4.99 because I would have been more mad. I guess that is what you get when you pay for cheap quality.
J. C.
Love coming here friendly and welcoming and the food is beaut
S. D.
Great place for a carvery that you can pile your plate up with as much veg and potatoes as you dare after choosing your favourite meats.Great service, friendly staff nice atmosphere.I have visited several times throughout the year and Christmas day too always the same great level of service and warm welcome...outside seating too for those warm summer nights!
P. C.
This is our new favorite local. Now using the green king app ordering is really easy and you know what's in stock before you order it. Plenty of room and very friendly staff. Beef chilli nachos are the best!!
L. W.
We were treated very well seeing as we were a group off 10 we were found 2 tables for us the lovely server claire looked after us brilliantly and the food was bloody lovely definatly go again *5
J.
I eat her on a regular basis and the food is always excellent see somebody said Toby carvery is better having had both they are equal
D. R.
Ok ISH shame carvery is not up to standard, you only get slivers of meat ,and veg left under lights to long so all shriveled ie roast potatoes are hollow .
N. P.
Food was good but Yorkshire pudding was tough. There were six of us and the table was fine but not alot of room to move on the bench chairs so everyone could fit in and you couldn't slide across as you got stuck to the bench no matter what you wore
D. G.
Lovely food and service great for kids and free parking 😀 👍
C. B.
Just had one of the best Sunday carvery we've ever had.
The beef was excellent and there was a good choice of vegetables all of which was cooked very well.
A lady also comes round with a cake trolley selling them all for £4 ready packed for you to take away.
We bought two a lemon cake and a strawberry cheesecake which were both really nice and you gets loads.
Gonna keep going back as its just brilliant 10/10
Oh and all the staff are really pleasant happy and helpful.
j. c.
Had buffet breakfast. Mostly ok but the fried bread and black pudding were overdone although we were told they were just about to stop breakfast so may have been ok if we had been earlier.
K. G.
This place was a good place to eat. Food was very good apart from the giant Yorkshire pudding, it was like rubber and no flavour and the beef was tough. The staff were very friendly with exception of one that told me I hadn't ordered a salad when I had. The puddings looked amazing but I was too full to have one.
A. R.
Got a carvery via the Too Good To Go app and was happily surprised by the quality of the food we received. Good sized box and all the veg was perfect. Could've had a little more meat but understand the amount we we given. Staff were helpful and friendly too.
T. d.
Depending on the time and day you go the queues can be long for the carvery ( which my sister and step dad went for ) however if you order from the menu the food comes relatively fast when you think about how many orders they get and the preparation times. The price is also great for the quality of food and if there is something you don't want on items , you can ask and they avoid putting those pieces onto your food. Overall it's a really nice experience especially with your family so you can all sit down and have a nice peaceful meal.
S. G.
Good prices, nice food. Friendly barman.
i.
Friendly helpful staff, food was nice and well presented, chip oil could do with filtering more often (Black burnt bits all over the chips). Other than that, everything was good and I would go back again.
j. C.
Have just been for a delicious carvery where everything was cooked perfectly. The staff & Manager Jack could not have been more
helpful. When he heard it was my & our daughters birthday we were given a free treacle sponge with custard. Can't wait to return. Many thanks
A. H.
Decent pub with friendly staff. Has become our most local carvery although food can be a bit hit n miss...would still recommend it 😉
J. R.
Great all you can eat breakfast
M. R.
great service from Tiffany and Faith very polite and friendly
S. D. A.
Great food at amazing prices
P. H.
Absolutely faultless welcoming staff helpful staff and well the food was outstanding I highly recommend going here even kid friendly brilliant
L. J.
Great place for a really good carvery. Food was plentiful and hot and the selection was good. There was a section at the end with all the different sauces and gravies which had something to suit everyone's taste. Staff were interactive and checked to see that all was okay and again before we left. The bar staff made you feel welcome too when we first arrived which is always a good sign. The toilets were clean and to be honest I couldn't find fault anywhere. Definitely be visiting again. Thank you everyone
G. G.
Go here for breakfast now and again.
Good selection - but does need replenishing quicker, esp the bacon which goes hard under the lights. But its a good value breakfast, with repeat drinks and toast - nice for a meet up with a friend.
Large car park which is great.
Staff pretty good, removed plates and wiped tables regularly.
D. J.
Great family pub with very friendly and helpful staff. Food served quickly and tasty especially love the carvery lots of vegetables to choose and a good amount of meat given by the chef. Would highly recommend people to go once open again after lockdown.
T. H.
Really like it here. We don’t have kids but there is a Good play areas inside and out for kids.
The food is good. Wish there was more vegetarian options, like a nut roast or the pie again with the roast dinner cause veg options are limited to a tart. It is busier on a Sunday but the queue goes down quickly. It’s always enjoyable to eat here and very good value for money. Drinks are decent as well
J. S.
Carvery is first class, just a little slow at the bar for getting drinks.
Very polite, clean and helpful.
L. R.
Really enjoyed our family meal, staff was very helpful and friendly. Carvery was lovely
M. T.
Even though our last visit was during the Pandemic the carvery was still out of this world. The steps taken to prevent the spread of COVID were also great and i felt extremely safe with my daughter.
Special mention for cakeaway though. After a carvery most people love the thought of a desert but don't actually have room for it there and then. We have all been there a few hours later thinking 'I could just eat something sweet now!' I used to think that all cakes were brought in on mass but was shocked to learn there is a master baker behind the scenes making all the cakes fresh!!!
J. S.
Was definitely worth the 45 min wait and 25 min drive as not many places were taking walk ins..food was fabulous with good portion sizes...well worth a visit. Would definitely go again when I'm next in the area
N. N.
Amazing service, great food and not too long a wait. Booked last minute and were so glad we did. Fabulous will deffinatly recommend and also visit again
S. J.
Well you certainly can't complain about the choice for food, my only problem was seeing the menu. For a place that has, in total, probably more light bulbs than Blackpool Illuminations, I couldn't see a damn thing. We've spent decades since Thomas Edison invented the light bulb improving the said item, so why do we seem to have gone backwards and started favouring bulbs with a filament that even Mr Edison would have rejected as not bright enough.
M. D.
Great to be able to indulge in a midweek Carvery again with full menu also available. Very generous portion sizes for a reasonable price. Will definitely be returning
C. J.
We ate here tonight for the first time since the Wacky Warehouse was removed and replaced with a smaller play area within the restaurant. This is much better as you can watch your children playing from your table. It was also very clean in this area and the warming facilities for baby food were really useful.
The food was really tasty, arrived quite quickly and was nice and hot. The carvery was excellent but the regular menu and children's menu were also very good and good value for money. The ice cream and cake counter alone make this restaurant worth a visit.
However, I really came on to write this review as the service at this restaurant was just fantastic. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and even though it was busy, they went round often checking if everything was ok. The manager Gary in particular went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed, from crayons for the children to boxes to take our left over cake home in (the slices of cake are the biggest I've ever seen!).
What a refreshing change (as family dining can often be hit and miss).
T. i. Q.
Not a bad dinner, however the roast potatoes were burnt on the outside but not cooked on the middle
s. “. b.
Friendly staff, great carvery at lunchtime, although the veg appears to be reheated frozen products, they were very tasty and hot, overall, a nice experience and will go again.
D. C.
Service was good. Food delivery very quick. Food was average - mash potatoes were not fully warmed. Overall experience was decent - only criticism was my warm dry mashed patatoe. Unfortunately my wife had the same dish and her food was the same.
J. W.
We had a family Boxing Day meal there and I was really impressed. We asked to move tables and they opened upstairs for our party of 16. The staff were all very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the Christmas carvery was lovely. The puddings were huge portions and delicious. Everyone had a wonderful time and based on our boxing day experience I would think we will book again for next year.
m. S.
I came in for the all you can eat breakfast which was excellent , nice and fresh and claires service was superb , well done 👏
S. P.
Reasonable prices, friendly staff. Love this place for breakfast
W. B.
Wrong meal brought to our table which set off a chain reaction ruining my evening. Was refunded for the whole meal my family ate & what I didnt eat but still, ended up very unhappy. Will go again though as this coould be a one off.
S. S.
Had an all day breakfast, my brother is vegan and they did a breakfast especially to cater for him too which was brilliant very good service and food was lovely thanks
T. S.
After reading the bad reviews I wasn't sure about going here but so glad we did. We are a family of 6 and went at 5 o'clock on a Tuesday. We were showed straight to a table and explained how to order. most of us had the carvery which was lovely and one had the all day breakfast which came just as we were tucking in. The price was good, the food was good and so was the service. We will definitely be going back.
B. K.
Nice clean pub with some good beers on tap at a good price.
Update, small issue when ordering , long queues and waiting times. Previously there used to be separate queues for food orders and bar drinks, now if you just want a top up pint you will be waiting for some time!
D. E.
The service was lovely ..I have allergies and the lady at the bar was BRILLIANT..she went through all the food I was having and it made a change for me to have something our and my mum loved it Thank You..
P. R.
Good evening out, friendly staff, ordering made easy at the table through their app. Would have been 5 star if customers were not smoking in the entrance area. Although not the management's fault, it needs to be addressed.
J. T.
This particular establishment has a very warm & welcoming atmosphere, the food was exceptionally cooked and the menu has a wide range of food on offer, all fairly priced & with large portions & a broad variety of freshly prepared cakes & desert's. They also have a ridiculously large plastic glass, for either soft drinks or alcohol for an extra 50p or so, for the upgrade from a regular pint.
The restaurant is family friendly & has a park for young children to play in, outside seating, along with a covered area for smokers near the entrance.
T. C.
I had the carvery, hubby had wings and chicken tika wrap. He didn't enjoy his wrap. It lacked flavour. Carvery was lush. I really enjoyed it. The girls (5 and 2) both had hot dog kids meal. Both enjoyed it.
The kids play area is amazing. It's nice that the girls were entertained whilst waiting for their meals. Staff were nice and friendly too.
A nice family outing.
R. C. (.
Great breakfasts at a great price. Friendly and supportive staff.
And the interior is very spacious and clean.
Keep doing what your doing! 🤘🏼
A. D. R.
Good food and excellent staff.
P. W.
The entrance is not obvious, we took the wrong turn off the roundabout and had to turn off. Must be a popular place as some items on the menu were no longer available. Did not try the carvery but it looked OK, with large joints of meat. I had the smothered chicken, it was fine, chips were good. The coleslaw was really good as it was finely shredded, I'll try to make mine like it.
S. P.
Fantastic lady sat us down and told us when we're ready order at the bar ...
The young lady at the bar took our order but unfortunately there was a lack of non alcoholic wine! ONLY WHITE AVAILABLE!!!
THE FOOD CAME OUT PRITTY QUICK GIVEN THE FACT IT WAS BUSY WE ORDERD ALACART NOT THE BUFFET!
WE WERE ASKED MANY TIMES IF WE WERE OK WICH I LOVED CONSIDERING THEY WERE BUSY .OVER ALL GOOD SERVICE AND FAST .FOOD WAS VERY DELISH AND BIG PORTIONS TOO.WOULD DEFO GO BACK .
p. a.
Seating fine as we had 2 wheelchair users. Sad to say the carvery meal was a let down. Sprouts very hard...barely cooked. Also cauliflower vin same condition and also new potatoes. It's the first time we have eaten out for Boxing Day. Not sure if we will do it again. It's the first time I haven't enjoyed a meal there so felt let down by the vegetables on this occasion.. also had to keep finding someone to sort things out. Very disappointed with the service.
A. I.
If you want a great Sunday carvery then this is ideal, nothing fancy but nice food where you can help yourself to what anything
L. B.
By far the best carvery in the area. The meat is really tender and delicious and the range of vegetables is great. The staff are friendly and helpful and the desserts...... Well, no other word to discribe them than amazing!! They're also massive so you can ask for a box to take them home if you don't get to finish them!
B. B.
Love the atmosphere staff are lovely never had problem parking and hot choclate fudge cake with icecream is to die for and very generous with the portion yummy
K. G.
Food excellent , staff wonderful with the exception of one elderly lady with dark short hair who was very abrupt and needs some lessons in customer care hence the low mark ruined the dinner.
D. B.
Visited a few day's ago with my wife, mother and father in law.
And we had a really enjoyable meal along with a few drinks.
Would recommend this establishment.
P. S.
Was a disappointing meal this time...presentation was lacking and seemed standards were lower than previous visits.
R. s.
Very slow at getting drinks at the bar, clearly not enough staff. First choice of main meal, I couldn't have due to them being sold out of cod, instead we had Steak and ale pie, which was lovely and very filling. So on the whole OK but needs to change the way the customer has to wait.
m. g.
Just been ot for family, highly recommend the carvery was lovely and kids enjoyed there burgers, staff was very welcoming will definitely go back
N. J.
Good Carvery but can get busy on a Sunday
C. B.
Food is lovely bit of a wait as told didn't have to book then when we got there only tables outside but did manage to get one inside staff very friendly and helpful.
P. L.
Absolutely loved our meal, felt very safe. Well organized, great staff. Shame the Abbott beer had ran out. Will definitely be returning
H. D.
My husband took me here for a meal a lovely man who works there I think he was the manager wished me a happy mother's Day and that really mad my day. We had a beautiful meal. We will definitely be going back
If I could give more stars I would. Lovely staff food and atmosphere. The management should be very proud of their staff
So once again thank you for making mother's day special for me.xxxxx
j. s.
Good value for money, I've eaten both breakfast and carvery. Could do with a few more staff though.
k. f.
Brilliant carvery, great choice of meat and veg. The Beef was lovely. Really impressed with all the staff - extremely polite and friendly. And the pub was spotless. Cannot fault this place. Will definitely be visiting again! Thank you!
A. B.
We came here on the 1st 08 21 first time for it not being a hungry horse.
was very pleased even though there was a wait value for money and the staff especially Sami and Jack the manager really looked after us will be back again for sure
N. B.
Fantastic food and staff
Jack and Jake are a credit to the company always greeted with a smile and nothing is a problem keep it up guys and thank-you
S. M.
Run of the mill generic mass produced pub chain. Decent enough food but don't expect anything special. The carvery is a good choice and reasonably cheap if you're happy to heap up on the vegetables. The beer is okay too. Pretty much everything about the pub, it's ales and its prices is okay.
K. S.
Pleasant staff the carvery is excellent best to book ahead the meat is really good and a very good choice of vegetables
G. W.
A family pub, good place to take kids to eat. Shame they got rid of the soft play area though. Last visit, we had the carvery, some things off the main menu, and meals from both the little kids and big kids menus. All was fine, food was exactly what you'd expect from a place like this. Kids menus could maybe have offered some more adventurous choices, but I guess they know their market better than I do. The ice cream and cake cabinets were well stocked and nicely presented and made the desserts look very tempting.
I. D.
Well they have turn it a round from my last visit 5 staff behind the bar not 2 like my last visit it was very busy there where 12 of us this time was shown to a table upstairs away from all the kids great service very good this time nothing to much for them to help you out food was hot this time also came and clears the table very quickly good service. Would come back again if the standard stayed the same.
J. F.
Sunday early evening and the place is heaving but staff still managed to be lovely, and the food was great. Massive portions, loads of choice and good value for money. The kids play areas (indoor and outdoor) are clean and well thought out. These places aren't usually my cutoff tea but this is ace. Thanks.
T. E.
Called in on the way back from the NEC, had ourselves a carvery great value for money with great service. Will definitely call again if passing.
R. (.
The manager had several arguments with Staff members and some customers while we were there, but the food was nice and arrived in timely manner.
R. C.
Hi we come to your pub regularly and we like all the staff the young lad Bradley very well presented and knows his stuff this guy needs more recognition and praise. His customer service is outstanding he will bend over backwards to help or deal with you. An absolute treasure to the team we think deserves a better role and a payrise in our eyes. And about the changes there up to scratch and we and are family feel very safe with This covid. The food is amazing always is and gary is a wonderful manager.
D. M.
Very nice carvery with choice of salad too!. I nearly tried to go up for more veg but a waitress pointed out that's not allowed. Whoops! Thought I was at Toby Carvery!
Meant I didn't stuff my face! Will def go back £4.99 for small plate certainly enough for lunch.
j. W.
We had a carvery, as good as anywhere similar it offered small, regular and large plates. A small was ample for me. Great value for food on the road. The most amazing dessert selection I have ever seen. Has to be seen to be believed! Lots of seating inside and a good few outdoor tables too. Would recommend for travellers on the A46. Decent children's play area outside to help relieve tedious car journey with your little ones, inside play area for under 5s too.
B. M. H.
We came at a less busy time so quickly ordered and sat down with our carvary. Good quality meats with a nice selection of vegetables and other bits. As we were eating, queues were MASSIVE! But everyone seemed happy enough to wait. Will return soon.
m. s.
Disappointed with carvery selection. Why can't we be advised at the till if the beef has finished or any othér joint has finished and we can reselect our choice at this stage.
D. P.
A great family place for family and friends alike. Plenty of food and drink choices. The food has always met with our expectations. Good quick service. The staff are always attentive. Weather allowing, there is plenty to keep the kids occupied. There is a good amount of parking but it does get busy. Overall an awesome place to visit and share food & conversation with friends and family.
D. C.
It is what it says on the tin. Chain family restaurant. If you want fine dining, this is not the place for you. But it does serve a need and is very popular for families. Casual dining or family get togethers, friends meeting up etc. Food is freshly cooked to order. Arrives hot or there is the carvery which is very popular. The cakes and ice creams looked amazing. It's noisy, but that's because it's a happy place for all those people having their catch ups.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
A. S.
Carvery is excellent as well food off the menu. Staff are great and always have a smile on their faces. They couldn't be more helpful. Kids play area is really good. Overall highly recommended

Fab food we enjoyed our meals all cooked properly and tasted great. Fantastic Kids area for letting the kids run round they have 2 child areas 1 inside with all sorts of toys for the kids to mess on with the other 1 is outside which again has enough for the kids to be amused you can relax outside in the sun and keep an eye on the kids and the inside area has seating so again the kids are never to far away from eyes view. there's plenty of room inside for adults which is sectioned off to the right a very good idea if you fancy a quiet night out. Menu has lots of choices or the carvery is available with a good selection on Offer plus they have a generous selection of desserts which are delicious. Would highly recommend.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, mixture of families and adults. Carvery is always a good choice, variety of portion sizes too. Their desserts are huge cakes and pastries, luckily take out is avaliable for them after a hearty meal you might not have room!
I. N.
The staff was really nice and helpful. We had a nice meals. The only thing which I will suggest is to have more chicken options and more choices of dessert on the kids meal.
Really lovely place
D. m.
Very curtious staff. Food okay medium rare steak can be a bit too rare.but they will rectify
K. M.
AMAZING CAKE!!
Not a very frequent visitor to hobby but when I do come it’s always a pleasure. I’m not keen on carveries so I order off the menu. I had sea bass and it was soooo good. Then I followed with a cakeaway to take home for later and I had chocolate orange omg it was soooo good. Didn’t realise they were made at the pub either! Whoever makes them is an asset to the pub xx
R. P.
Amazing carvery - great food and lots of it at a bargain price. Always clean and the staff are very friendly. Recommended

We visited yesterday (18-8-2020) A family get together with young children.. we had a really nice meal staff were lovely! Our waitress ‘Claire’ was soo lovely and welcoming, she really couldn’t have done more to make our visit better she was amazing!... Thankyou to all at the hobby horse, we will definitely be back :)
T. M.
Food was good. Liked that you can order and pay on your phone. The steak was very blend to say the least
M. H.
Nice place to eat. Food was lovely, very friendly staff, place was clean. Only reason I dropped it a star was two of the three drinks glasses was dirty. One even had lipstick on it, though the staff changed both no problems.

Good for kids cos of a play area.
Food and drink good.
Two for one would be a good addition.
K. M.
Food quality not the best. Kids play area rather small. Carvery looked nice. Ordered hunters chicken. Chicken was good. Kids ordered tomato pasta. That was bland. Lacked sauce. Cleanliness was ok
M. D.
Best carvery restaurant in Northern Leicester. Decent selection of meat and veg, and great bar too. The puddings are to die for, and we usually end up taking it home to finish later. The pudding not the main meal. Excellent customer service, and great tasting food.
s. c.
Food very good full English breakfast. Buffet style service.queue up and choose what you want. Standard breakfast more than enough.
D. N.
Nice staff, clean place. Beef ok, stuffing raw/like dough, sausages were horrible - tasted cheap and reheated. Overall it wasn't terrible, with some small tweaks with the food it would get 4 stars.
S. P.
Great to be back enjoying a Carvery again. Food and staff excellent, new setup very easy and ended up very satiated. No minus points - spot on.

Well, I've lived near the hobby horse for years but had never been so decided to go for a sunday meal. The problem came when I wanted a burger but my gf wanted a sunday roast from the carvery, unfortunately the two meals are treated completely differently so your free to go and get your carvery whenever you want but have to wait until your other meal is ready to recieve it. The que for the carvery was long so after 15 minutes my girlfriend went to get her carvery, she returned 15 minutes later, my food turned up 15 minutes after she'd sat down. I appreciate that this was our fault as if we'd have both had carverys or other meals then this problem would not have occurred. Really nice place though everything seemed cleane and the staff were friendly, I just think the communication could be a bit better, maybe the waiter could prompt you to the carvery when they know your meal nearly ready.

Went for breakfast and no coffee, machine broken down I would had thought this would be a priority for a restaurant, excellent parking , good service, nice staff , no sheltered out side seating
J. O.
First visit tonight with friends. Friendly staff, seated quickly, not too busy tonight. Tried the carvery, food lovely, hot and a good selection of vegetables. Went on to have desserts. OMG the were massive and fabulous, full marks from us.

So pleased this has changed to the "farm" brand, much like the fayre & square menu but with the added bonus of the carvery which is excellent and has a large array available with a proper sized plate, unlike others in the buffet style market.
Its good for families with a large indoor and outdoor play area.
I only awarded 4* as its incredibly busy ( its new ) and the queues are large, makes it more of a cattle shed rather than a relaxed pub restaurant, maybe this will ease over time.
c. o.
The food was of a high standard and good value for money. And the staff where friendly ,helpful and you didn't have to wait long to be served. My little boy loved running around as there plenty of space, play area and ice cream !
S. M.
I remember going to this as the Hobby Horse and was quite pleased when I heard that this was becoming a 'Farm' pub due to past good experiences. Positives to this pub are the size and the menu. This is a great sized family pub with plenty of tables. The menu is vast offering a multitude of classics and grills as well as a Carvery. Unfortunately during our visit there were a number of issues with the food such as the wrong thing being brought out, steak being cooked incorrectly and missing items on plates. I think the majority of this was due to a fault in the kitchen. As much as the staff were friendly I think the issues were dealt with poorly by the manager who seemed not to notices the service was being degraded. I would give the place another chance though as it has potential as a family eatery.

Had a lovely meal out with family. The carvery was very good, staff very helpful
K. M.
Great place to eat. Carvery with variety of great meats. Parking facilities very good. Great bar. Has outdoor play activities for the younger ones. In general provides a great fun day for the family that is super clean and well maintained.

*****Management has now changed so now good honest food and good service***** Terrible service from most of the staff and aggressive management when I made a complaint. On top of that that had no black pudding, tinned tomatoes or scrambled egg which was advertised on the menu. The staff don't care about bad service and the manager's are not running the place well at all, it's a shame as it used to be good and always busy but hardly anyone comes anymore due to bad service and multiple people complaining this morning......I will be making a formal complaint to their head office and I won't be returning to this specific pub again.

Great waitress, Claire, great food.
M.
Fantastic selection of food and brilliant price, taste fantastic never had a bad meal from here and the size is very good always leave full up. Children's meals are brilliant as well and get a free ice cream which is brilliant, has a play area inside and out which my little boy loves and it keeps him busy if we have to wait for a table as it can be very busy sometimes, staff are very polite and helpful recommend here 100%.
A. S.
The Breakfast buffet is poor quality, the food tasted bland and was lukewarm (it is very cheap so i guess you get what you pay for) but the evening meals which you order or the carvery are tasty and well priced. The desserts although large suffer vastly in quality, except the ice cream which is delicious and comes in many options.
We had Christmas dinner here, the starters were not great but the carvery and desserts were the same as normal but a lot more expensive (which is fine as you expect to pay more when eating out at christmas).
D. H.
Very much a family oriented pub. Food was good and well cooked. One and only gripe was the minted yogurt with the tikka was more mayonnaise than yogurt. Otherwise it was very nice. Helpful friendly staff to boot.
N. E.
Does what it says on the tin. Great carvery, choice of meats, large choice of veg, helpful staff and reasonably priced. Perfect for Sunday lunch, busy at peak times - take this as an indicator of the great quality to expect!
S. R.
Loved it! Carvery was delicious, would not hesitate to recommend to my friends. Great facilities for children and my grand daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself leaving the elders enjoy their lunch. Thank you!!
C. I.
Very nice carvery. A little expensive, but still very nice... And the cakeaway was very nice...
D. E.
Superb customer service. Reached out after my original review, and invited my partner and I in to address the issues I'd mentioned, and were genuinely upset by our previous experience. Donna in particular was brilliant and went above and beyond to show that this was the exception rathe than the norm. 👍🏻
I. D.
Turkey and pork was tender from the carvery, but the beef was way too dry. The vegetables were alright but the cauliflower gratin wasn't gratin. They just put some cheese on top of it to melt. A lot of the desserts were not available and they didn't have any cream. Staff was great.
j. b.
Enjoyable meal for the family
With good choice of menu
It was very busy when went went but service was brilliant
T. L.
Lovely place with a fantastic carvery offering 4 meats, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, mash and a wide selection of veg with onion gravy and beef gravy. The beef was beautifully cooked. It was so tender. I am usually very iffy about beef but this was absolutely delicious. There is also a salad has and a menu that you can order from. Prices were really good for a hearty and extremely enjoyable meal. I would highly recommend this place. We called in after driving back from a break away and this out a fantastic and to a lovely break.
P. W.
The Hobby Horse farm does carvery on an industrial scale..but don't let that put you off. It was really busy on Sunday but ordering was easy enough and the the queue for the carvery was long but with two chefs carving and dishing out the meat(choice of 4) I soon got all my food. It was good a quality roast and I will be going back
L. R.
Excellent carvery and lovely desserts
M. S.
Good choices on carvery , decent meal you can choose. Was crowded though !
D. P.
Great evening at the Hobby Horse Farm.
Didn't think we would get a table at all considering the car park was packed. However we were given a table for four straight away. A great traditional menu and also a good carvery section. The bar has a good selection of lagers and ales.
The deserts menu has a very tempting selection of cakes and ice-creams to choose from.
The place is clean and well maintained. The staff are pleasant and helpful.
A. S.
Nice place, reminded me of places i used to go out to eat when i was based up north. Only thing is the yorkshire puddings we very hard and not tasty. Rest of it was nice. Kids meal came out super fast which got me thinking as to how fresh it really was.
B. H.
Nice Carvery if you want your food quickly order the carvery as you go straight there no need to wait. It could have been under the hot light a while but that's the down side of these places.
P. G.
Very busy which meant parking was a bit of a mess but in general a great experience.
N. S.
Called in for breakfast, ample parking, pub was clean and well presented, staff were friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced, Tasty breakfast with unlimited tea and toast. Would definitely eat here again. Well done.
C. A.
Enjoyable carvery and good for families with the kids area and play bits
K. M. B. F. T.
This is the best Carvery around, with lots of choice in veg, the food is excellent, the staff are excellent the inside and outside are great. Fully recommend this place. My favourite.
Sometimes there are ques but this only suggests how good it is there as so many people want to go. 5 star and more all the way.
J. B.
A lovely lunch, went with my parents, very busy which is a good sign, food came quickly wouldn't say it was too hot to eat but okay, puddings are the best, my parents had the Apple crumble with custard when it came it was enough for 4 people. Would highly recommend.
A. P.
Inside they have an amazing Cake Shop, had to try one of their Giant Brownie slices and wow, really tasty, appreciate the quick service too!
C. J.
Went in for breakfast on the morning of the 28th November and had a very enjoyable breakfast with very welcoming and professional staff, notably Gary - who went above and beyond.
K. T.
Great value carvery dinner. Enjoyed the food and cakes! Always very popular so good to know there can be a small wait for a table at busy times , we always plan to have a drink first and find the table is ready so never had an issue
G. H.
Good food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Two little play areas, 1 inside for small children and toddlers and 1 outside for slightly older children. Inside near the play area there is also a microwave and bottle warmer you can use if needed for feeding babies. Never been before but would defiantly go back, with or with children.
L. F.
Good food although the lettuce in my salad was beginning to go brown not stored properly .They had run out of sirloin steak but informed me straight away and offered an alternative & refunded the difference little wait before food arrived but nothing out of the ordinary considering thay were fairly busy.Staff very polite worth a visit
M. C.
Seated at our table...but happily moved us to a bigger table as there was no space for my Mrs and kids. Went for the ultimate Cavery. Didn't disappoint. Good place. Great staff. Would highly recommend this place.
E. T.
Lovely meal and service was spot on
A. M.
Lovely food and staff and it's always hot and served quickly. If you have a pudding make sure you have enough room as they are large but very, very tasty.
P. P.
We went as a family 7of us and 2 infants Easter Sunday it was not over crowded very pleasant .the Carvary looked and smelt inviting. .2 of the family had the mixed grill 4 had carvary I had the large fish chips it was all acceptable, The staff were very helpful and polite .we will be going back soon ,!!
J. F.
Lovely Carvery but was left waiting almost an hour before we could get our food even though they were not very busy.🙁
K. c.
Came here for a quick bite to eat and was a amazing experience will definitely be going back here and the Sunday dinner looks amazing
M. M.
Loved this place. Best carvery I've had in a long time and the desserts! OMG- they are AMAZING!!humungous portions. We took an éclair home and it did it both of us two days! Divine, we definitely recommend it.
s. h.
Nipped in on a Bank Holiday Monday... 13 of us... Without booking! Truly a schoolboy error and one that could surely have bitten us on the backside.
The place was rammed to the rafters but we were still able to get seated together in quite a reasonable amount of time which would have been no small feat for the staff, we were expecting to wait twice as long as we did.
Food is your standard pub grub but none of the group's meals looked rushed in the slightest and only having to wait 30 minutes despite it being so busy was a very pleasant surprise.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because they could do with employing a sparky and getting a few more light bulbs in, some areas (ie, where we were seated) resembled the Mines of Moria.
I'd certainly go again based on the efficiency of the staff alone.
d. h.
Since last lockdown the carvery are highly improved and now I'm every Sunday dining in there.
C. B.
A lovely selection of food, ranging from kids meals, all the way up to massive carveries. They serve two types of chicken, Hunters Chicken (which comes with bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce, as well as corn on the cob, fries, coleslaw and salad), and Smothered Chicken (which comes topped with Diane sauce and fries (salad too)).
Carvaries:
Small (Ideal for kids)
Medium
Large
Ultimate
On top of this they also have light bites, and puddings. There are apple pies, sundaes (which are huge and absolutely delicious), sponge pudding and treacle with custard, as well as many others (like brownies and shortbread).
I cannot rate this place high enough, the food is amazing and fantastic! I really recommend it if you want a family place to eat at a low price.
l. b.
Lovely place to go for lunch except they do anything Gulten free which is a real shame as I could have was chips
J. W.
Great friendly service. Food was top notch. Would definitely recommend!
D. K.
Absolutely love this place. I made a booking for Saturday afternoon within the children's area. Upon arrival the table was clean and ready for us. Very polite staff, very speedy food orders and very tasty food for all the family to enjoy.
A. H.
A little disappointed with my experience at the hobby hourse, I'd booked for 7 people,it was only 7pm on a Thursday and the only meat they had was half a Turkey and that was it,not what I was expecting from a carvery,
H. C.
Service was great, could not fault the staff. We were a party of 11 and they quickly sorted tables for us. Out of the 11 meals there was only one fault that being the steak on one of the mixed grills tough and bloody but the portion was so big there was no need to complain. We would come again
A. B.
Inexpensive carvery pub. Can be quite noisy as there is a children's indoor play area attached. Staff were friendly.
y.
Been there about five times for the breakfast on Saturday. It's help yourself and is based on a set price on a plate size. Load what you want on the plate, make toast and pour coffee (I think you can go back for more coffee or tea later on). Breakfast is really good and for the money you cannot beat it anywhere in Leicester. My tip is to have the breakfast here and then go shopping. You will be full all day. Remember not to waste food, so only load on plate what you can eat.
C. B.
Friendly and relax meal, would recommend.
s. R.
Lovely place to stop food was good
E. S.
Had a lovely meal, food was hot and fresh. It was very busy but the staff were helpful, quality of food was good. Would highly recommend a visit and the cake away is an awesome idea.
A. B.
Its a fantastic value for money carvery, also good pub food menu , friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, and excellent for family meals and celebrations, check out the cake size and desserts...Just on weekend its so busy, can't even find parking space..better to book in advance to avoid dissapointment
A. H.
Excellent food all four meats superbly cooked all our hearts desired with the vegatables fresh pipeing hot and juicy. Just down the road from us but would definitely travel to get here. A warm and wonderful reception from staff attentive and helpful. Even when run off their feet with smiles . So very special made a lovely stop off with my grandaughter. Thank you.
K. K.
Outstanding food and a very friendly, warm and welcoming experience provided by Gary and Victoria. Thank you! I fully recommend this family friendly pub.
S. P.
Had the all day breakfast, everything on the plate was good apart from the over well done sauages.
G. B.
The carvery and service were excellent. 3 other places we tried were fully booked, the Hobby Horse Farm found us a table straight away. Couldn't fault the food at all.
D. B.
Went to Hoby horse couple of days ago staff are really nice the place is always buzzing good drinking venue have to say my food was disappointing I had the salmon fillet which was supposed to have sauce which they had run out of so it was dry few new potatoes and a handful of peas so not the best good variety of dishes and nice carvery
D. C.
Had a delicious Cesar salad from here with chicken and bacon. Was out on time. very warm aswell so didn't make the salad wilt. Very clean establishment. has a fun little play area for the kiddies.
A. S.
Lovely friendly staff.carvery is yummie. Prices are very reasonable.
J. E.
Better than what the previous Hobby Horse was. Sunday carvery is normally busy and advise booking ahead. Dessert menu is good especially the cakes, they are huge! You can even take it away.(cake away). The full english breakfasts are good. Plenty of tea and toast too. Even though they have removed the kids soft play area, the new kids area is fine. Would recomend.
T. B.
The pub has been renovated and the food was as good as it gets for the price charged however why at its busiest do we have que at the bar at the order point which is less than a metre of the total service area and then treated as if it is a privilege to do so. (OAP' S can actually understand how to use a debit card)
R. S.
Buffet breakfast (standard)with coffee £6 can't complain.
Staff helpful.
Tables clean.
Value for money.👍
J. g.
Beautiful restaurant and Jack delt with my meal fabulously. Most recent visit was nice, Sam boivin was an excellent waitor and he has nice eyes to lol. The music was brilliant every song was cool. Good food however the vinegar comes out too quick and the toilet smelt .
T. P.
Can't go wrong here. Socially distanced tables. Easy ordering system? Polite/friendly staff and nice and clean.
J. I.
Lovely food, very happy with service
G. W.
First time we have been there for many years.Friendly staff. Great food at excellent prices
B. C.
Can not wait for the hobby horse to reopen miss the buffet breakfast witch is allways lovely and value for money. Gary and karen are lovely people and manage the pub very well and they have some grate assets in the team. In lockdown they managed well with the changes and believe when reopen will continue to do so.
j. c.
Just called in for breakfast this morning, excellent breakfast at really good prices.Very clean and safe environment and the Gentleman was very attentive and friendly. Will be back.
S. M.
The front of house lady I found very rude
I was having a small problem with one of my children. So I took the problem out side
It was one of the hottest days yet and she shouted can you shut that door your letting the heat out and one entering she snapped at us that our children had to be quick as we only had two hours to eat
The manager Kelly on the other hand was a pleasure to meet
Thank you Kelly for your help
A. H.
Met up with a couple of old colleagues for lunch, excellent carvery
S. M.
Absolutely Gorgeous Food and the Staff were amazing, they really can't do enough for you. Make sure when you visit you give them a tip as they so deserve it
D. L.
Nice carvery in general but the roast potatoes were a let down.
Staff could have also been a bit more helpful. I had to tell them 3 times what dessert I wanted
J. W.
The place was very busy with only on meat left on the carvery, I had the loaded chicken fries which were nice but my friends weren't as complimentary about the carvery. Overall its cheap and value for money.
C. B.
Excellent place to Dine.
Families welcome as well. Play area for Children. Front of House Staff very helpful.
Good choice of food, reasonably priced.
Tables very clean. Toilets well maintained.
J. C.
Building is tatty and dirty. Food is okay, staff seem friendly enough. Caters for kids and has some play equipment outside. The place could do with an update.
J. W.
Definitely Great, Lovely food and friendly staff service for a breakfast buffet it’s one of the greatest
