Great food and very pleasant staff but the service was slow suggest you need more table staff it would have earned you 10 stars and the waitress a bigger tip. Good home cooked roast sunday lunch but my personal preference would be no red cabbage. I will remember next time. A substantial portion left no room for dessert will be telling friends recommended to me by Sharon Herbert. Thank you

When we arrived we were promptly shown to our table even though the staff were rushed off their feet with a very large funeral. We were served by 2 gents, Mark & another young man (I didn't catch his name, sorry!), they were both very happy and smiley at all times and couldn't be more helpful if they tried. The meals were absolutely amazing, the 4 steaks ordered were cooked to perfection, the steak & ale pie and kids meal were divine too, the only thing that was a teeny tiny bit disappointing was there was no fries but the normal chips that came with the meals were delicious! Thank you to Mark, the other server and the chefs, you all made my mum's birthday meal very enjoyable and we look forward to coming back soon!

Both my choice of main and dessert weren't available. My partner asked for the lighter option but it was served with chips. They were replaced with a bit more salad and the meat had been chopped in half. We asked about the salad being served on a hot plate and was told this was how it came. Service was slow, yet the venue was only about a third full. Positives, friendly staff, the other 3 main meals we had were good. But I don' think we will come back as there are other better local venues.

Came for my sons 18th birthday meal. Friendly and welcoming. Food was absolutely delicious, though servings could have been a little larger. Establishment is always kept clean and tidy, will definitely be back again.

Went to the Old Vicarage for the first time lastnight with a group of colleagues, one of whom is coeliac and needs to avoid all traces of gluten. The team at the pub were excellent, they had fantastic knowledge of allergens and the processes required in the kitchen. All credit to them.

Lively pub/restaurant. Great menu with loads of pub classic dishes and a few that are slightly different. I really struggled to choose as the selection was so good. Settled on the Chippy Tea Burger which was fab. Great place for families. No need to book you can just pop in and grab a table. Friendly staff as well. Ideal for impromptu meals out. Cant wait to go again.

Warm, friendly environment, we were made welcome immediately on arrival. The table was of an adequate size for the 4 of us. The service was prompt and efficient. Our food was good a nd plentiful- we got what we paid for(we didn't expect Michelin). All in all a pleasant night out.

Lovely Big Pub/Dining place. Brilliant new menu choices from pulled pork burgers, chips and salad to a full Sunday roast dinner. And desserts both hot and cold to die for! Some good offers on some drinks too. Have 2 glasses of wine get the reest of the bottle all for £10.00. Nice polite and helpful staff, no pushyness with them.Lovely modern interior surroundings within a gorgeous old building. Outside seating.areas and a large car park at the front. Steak was not great. Despite having one changed it was still tough. I would say chief had his grill to high . Turned it to leather twice. Another had a rare steak never asked for a blue steak .any rarer and a good vet could bring it back to life. Waitress 10/10 All other meals were good.

Good menu and a great kids menu with activities on it to help keep them amused. Lovely interior and good choice of drinks. Lots of large tables available if a big family or group. Reservations can be done. It's a shame with all that lovely outdoor space that there is no park for children or access to the grass - that is why only 4 stars.

Conveniently located slap bang in the middle of the villages of Whetstone and Blaby. Nice atmosphered bar with good quality pub grub at a very reasonable price, with a good amount of choice on the menus. Started well table reserved as booked. Then waited ages for main course.but when it came food was lovely can't fault it.then an hours wait for the sweet.i asked once told there was a hold up in the kitchen.2nd time got an apology.and she went to sort i.then they arrived at the table with three more mains.we then got our sweets bought out but unfortunately not ours lol.so after another ten minutes we were sorted.the food was faultless service awful.we were lucky not in a hurry.but that's my opinion try for yourself.

A hidden gem we tried today .... Nice and quiet Sunday lunch .no hassle of children ,lovely surrounding ,well presented meal and good choice (no aunt Bessie rubbish here) , friendly and helpful staff . We have been coming here for drinks for 8 years and still the staff do not know what we drink or our names appear to talk to there click but no effort made with anyone else also they reserve all the tables at 4 even though customers not arriving until late 7 or 8 with no offer to let us sit there even though they know we will be long gone by time the people who booked it arrive.
