Great meeting place for students. Just on the edge of town, between the edge of the Town Centre and Braunstone Gate, so plenty of choices to move on to. And right on the canal bank, with a veranda over the water. Good atmosphere, reasonable prices, helpful staff. Top banana score of 4 🍌🍌🍌🍌

Only went in for a couple of drinks on the walk home. It was lovely, we sat outside next to the canal. One of the bar men that served was really friendly and he had great customer service unfortunately don’t know a name.

A favourite of mine since starting uni in September 2018, I still haunt this place on a regular basis. It's been through some major changes over the years including a refurb that added a second floor balcony and coffee hut. This place has everything, a Riverside Balcony, Pool Tables, Mario Kart, Bingo, Quiz and a very retro pop aesthetic! I even get lots of free & discounted food and drinks with their generous More Points scheme! The staff are very friendly and welcoming, Tara & Maggie have been here as long as I remember and recognise me as a regular patron and talk to me when they can. Emma, a friend I made in first year is also a great bartender and always nice to see on shift and lately one of their newest staff members, Doreen has made for a great new addition to the team whom I forgive for taking what could have been my role, they're very deserving of it! 😁

We had the Soar Point booked for an event today. It proved to be an ideal venue in several ways. Big capacity but still an intimate feel. Close to city centre but a very pretty location. Good food. Lovely bar staff. And the manager Matt was supportive, friendly, and very hard working in helping sort some technology issues.

I popped in here with my 3 year old on Saturday 10th December. Having joked about the notion that this chain of pubs could be seen as family friendly in the past, I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. An exceptionally friendly woman with curly hair and glasses found a booth table for me, spoke to my son like a human and thought about little things like providing him with a larger plastic glass, to avoid spills and breakages. Another woman very kindly offered him toys to play with and he was delighted by all of it. It was only a quick drink, which was fine and good value, but the service was excellent. Thank you.

We make visit in time for lunch around 1 pm , we take a sit outdoor , start to read the menu, decide to order some plate with real food then got to be dissapointed because they have only burgers in that moment. Not very nice experience i say, a bit too crowd.

Excellent food and beer! I stopped by here after a day wandering around the nearby churches, Roman and medieval ruins, and the castle gardens, hungry and eager for a pint. I had the Opera lager, which was a delicious, simple pilsner, and the Millionaire stout which has salted caramel notes. I loved both, but preferred the lager as i tend to like the plainer styles best, but the Millionaire was perfect as a half pint for "dessert." As for the food: the prices are crazy for such a great spread! I got the Bigger Breakfast, a full English, for only £5.95. it was HUGE, and totally delicious! I couldn't finish it all, but I wanted to. The atmosphere is fun and comic book nerdy. De Montfort University is right down the street, (and there was a big football match on,) so the crowd skews slightly to the younger college set, but I didn't feel out of place. If the weather's nice, there's a large outdoor patio right on the canal which I imagine would be perfect for lunch on a summer day. Highly recommend!

My mum and I visited today ( mon 31st may 2021) it was our first time eating out since corona virus restrictions lifted . We were met at the door by a very friendly lady who took us through the track and trace process and took us to our table . I can not express how at ease we felt with the staff adhering to the safety measures . The food we ordered was amazing too ....Keep up the good work guys . Really enjoyed our visit and I’d like to thank all the staff for doing such a great job .

Large open plan pub, clean and spacious. Cheap food and drink. Service is good. The menu is pretty good and food is nice. It's in a good area next to the river and edge of the town. Pool tables, games consoles, good music nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The only downside was the lack of security. There was a customer who was rowdy and causing a bit of disturbance. Bar staff were great and dealt with the situation very well, credit to them. They even refused to serve him alcohol and took the glasses off the bar in case the situation became more serious. It wasn't nice to witness and felt uncomfortable, perhaps with security customers and the poor bar staff would feel less vulnerable.

Great for students. Variety of food and drinks and they cater well to dietary preferences. Food isn’t exceptional, but you do get for what you pay for and it’s all very cheap. They do regular quizzes and special events. My friends and I had our Christmas meal there, £12/person for 3 courses, Santa hats and Christmas crackers.

Great place to just chill with friends! Or even by yourself I guess? There's pool tables, however the floor is a little wonky so the game can be a bit unfair at times! The food and drinks are very nice here, prices are maybe a little above average especially for students but mostly okay :) there is also free WiFi here! GET THE BLUE CHEESE BUFFALO WINGS. that is if you like chicken and blue cheese. They also do regular wings. Food is great and very affordable. Nice seating, it's a bit of a football pub but it has an overall great vibe, clean premises and toilets. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Drinks are good and they have a variety. There is a games consoles in one area as well. Overall very nice and warm place- would 100% recommend. If you can't stand football blaring in the background then try to avoid.

This is a great social pub. It has good quality food with a cheap price tag. Pool tables, board games, quiz nights fit for any occasion. Even though it's the students local it doesn't feel like that. Perfect place in the summer too.

I seem to be going to no-nonsense places only. This is a student pub near the De Montfort University campus, or on campus depending on which way you want to look at it. Drinks are cheap, food is cheap, there's a pool table and terrace overlooking the river. If you go or planning to go there regularly get one of their loyalty cards, it is really worth it. Staff are friendly and relaxed.

Great fun student pub. Secret DJ offers patrons the ability to choose their own music for free. Regular cask and tap rotations, with fan favourites regularly making another appearence. Food is great quality, and value. Also offers charging points for mobile phones and laptops either near or built into every table. This place has become one of my favourites since living in the area.

Was very nice! The food was great as were the staff behind the bar. Pleasantly surprised to end up in a spontaneous game of bingo, some us never played before so it was beyond stressful but still fun either way. However can only give 3 stars because of this. The lady shouting out the numbers was great don't get me wrong but she egged on people to come to the front and discuss taking drugs and none of the staff took them seriously, though they may have missed them actually snorting cocaine at the side of the bar next to our table, I however did not and it ruined the experience. As did their shouting directly next to us so we couldn't concentrate or hear properly. The next part being we'd followed the rules got a full house and shouted bingo, was completely ignored for the group next to her SCREAMING as loud as they could after we had shouted bingo. Thus meaning we lost our prize. Might return, might not. Definitely wouldn't suggest coming here to professional adults though, more of a student vibe going on.

This bright and trendy pub is clearly popular with the student crowd. I didn’t mind being the oldest person in there but the fact it took 45 minutes to serve a plate of nachos was definitely, ahem, a sore point. Possibly too ‘relaxed’ for those north of 30.

Used to be one of my favourite places to drink in Leicester. Great to watch sports, play a game of pool and grab a few pints. It's close to the University so it's mainly 18-25 years olds. Food is great but the prices have gone up a lot. £4.20 for a strongbow is just way too much.

One of my favourite bars, Great selection of drinks and craft beers/ciders. Outdoor seating next to the river. Inside is lots of seating and tables. Food is reasonably priced and has a good selection of comfort food dishes! There's an N64 with 4 controllers that allows you to play Mario kart with your pals! Weekends can be busy and is usually most popular with university students! There is a bonus card, called the 'more card' and for every £1 you spend, you get 10p and on certain days they do double points :D They host lots of different things in the week days/night such as bingo!

The place was pretty good. Drinks were drinks and food was great. A real nice place to spend with your freinds, colleagues and team mates. It was calm, excited and tense at times. It all depended on what we were doing. Like we went on a quiz night so it was tense with bits of calm times in between the quizzes. Of course , I do have a problem with the price of the drinks, it's quite expensive in comparison to spoons. Like a dark fruit here was almost double the price of that you will find at spoons. Price is something to take into consideration so unlike spoon where £20 would be enough for good night, £20 here will get you a decent night. But I guess the entertainment makes up for it. Quiz night was fun. And there was competion. I'd recommend going, providing you don't mind the drink prices and go there for the entertainment rather then drinks. As a similar experience can be found at spoons for less with the loss of entertainment such as the quiz night as far as I'm aware of, but that's why you go with freinds and play games such as would you rather. Either way. It was an enjoyable night.

Decent student hangout with a fair few weekly offers available (drinks can be a bit expensive depending on what you choose). Its got a balcony which looks over the soar canal which is nice in summer with all the swans around. It can get quite busy during term time and puts on pub quiz's etc but if you prefer a quieter environment just visit earlier in the day or at a unusual time for students. it has a access lift if you can't get down the main staircase, I can't really comment on the food but their orange and chocolate vegan tarte is really good!
