Reviews of The Badger'S Sett
S. P.
Really nice meal with friends. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks lovely. Looking forward to a drink in the garden on a summer's evening as it looked lovely all lit up. The menu seems to cover all tastes. Large drinks menu also covered all preferences. At the moment, signing up to the newsletter online gets you a complimentary pudding, so that was nice! The staff we friendly and helpful.
Overall, really nice and we will be returning.

Lovely place obviously very popular.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and we really liked the decor and atmosphere.
We went on a Sunday for a late lunch and the food was good nice portion size my only real gripe would be the roasted potatoes theses were more like boiled potatoes that has been rolled round in some fat for a short while, I alway think of roastise as having a lovely crunchy shell to them, these sadly didn't....
We did get there later in the afternoon but the last dish out of the kitchen should be as good as the first in my book.
Ps lots of lovely gravy alway makes me happy!

If you want Banoffee pie come any other day but a Monday. Jake said to try the flower pot pudding and the chocolate ice cream took me by surprise not going to lie. the chips were nice and the staff were amazing, especially Jake who took very good care of us throughout.

First time visit to The Badger's Sett today after hearing lovely things about it and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and came out well presented. Our server, Tom, was very polite and welcoming and couldn't fault his service at all. Lovely decor as well, really nice country vibes. We will definitely be coming again.

Lovely Sunday lunch and great that can refill gravy. Staff friendly and great location to Bradgate park

Our experience at The Badger’s Sett was excellent throughout, it is a lovely pub with a great feel! We were recommended the pub by our Airbnb host so arrived without a booking on a Friday evening, where we were greeted with a warm welcome before being served by Kim for the duration of our meal. Kim gave nothing short of exemplary service and was cheery, polite, informative and attentive, including providing fresh cutlery between starter and main. The food was delicious with good size portions and the speed of service was perfect for us. It seems some of the previous reviews have picked on some very trivial aspects but we honestly couldn’t fault the service at all, we were very impressed and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Used to be much better. Prices have gone up, portions have got smaller and choice for vegetarians and vegans is nowhere near as good or as wide as a couple of years ago. We used to go every couple of weeks now we only go back every couple of months. And that's only because the ambience and the service is so good and friendly. They've now moved to that annoying model where you have to pay extra for everything - chips, vegetables etc. And you pay a lot of money for a couple of chips and
a few bits of veg.

Lovely atmosphere, great food and a good array of choice on the menu. Not much for non meat eaters however hence the lack of 5 stars. Great service by the bar staff and servers, they all seem well trained and polite.

Great service, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Enjoyed by all, including my 85yr old mother, whose birthday it was, her grandchildren all in their 20s and even my dog who liked the field outside where she got to have a walk and sniff around. Second time eating there and will definitely be back. Tip to anyone going soon, I can highly recommend the Trout.

I initially struggled to find something as my taste is plain, but after speaking to Hannah this was easily resolved by doing a mixture and it was divine! By far the best pub meal I have had in a long long time. I had chicken, spring onion mash, green beans and carrots with a really really yummy gravy (which I don't normally have). My fellow diners dinners looked scrummy too.
Compliments to the chef.

Sunday lunch celebration was great, lovely surroundings, really polite and attentive staff and the food was well cooked and seasoned. It's not cheap but the food atmosphere are worth a visit. I can recommend the rainbow trout with samphire and clams, so tasty

Me and my mum came tonight for the preview night. The refurbishment looks amazing! Lovely food as always and Louise our waitress was so attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you again :)
B. C.
Lovely ingredients but SALT on everything. Hold back on the seasoning as there is salt and pepper on the table if required.

Have been going to this establishment for over 30 years and have always found drinks and dining to be of the best quality and great service.
Recently, the customer service has gone from an already great service always to an absolutely exemplar service.
Just wanted to mention Jake in particular. He is always friendly, smiling and happy to make sure that nothing is too much trouble in making sure that all our needs are met.
Myself and my now late dad used to meet here for drinks and some dining very regularly especially in the summer and always miss the great times me and my dad had here.
Recently, I decided to bring my mum to so we could relive some memories that me and my dad made here and Jake, who knew about my dad, made my mum feel so so special and looked after. She doesn't get out much but always speaks about Jake and how he made her feel.
Thank you Jake and Badgers Sett.

Had a delicious meal here this evening for our wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect; the setting, food and service. Nothing was too much trouble and we even moved tables, not being used to such hot, sunny weather! Thank you, we'll be back.
A. G.
Went for Christmas dinner with my husband and our respective Mums. We had a very warm welcome as we walked into the pub. We were taken to a table near the lovely open fire. Our waiter was Max who was very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious especially the Christmas pudding! We would definitely dine there again without any hesitation.
M. J.
Visited Bradgate Park to meet friends we had not seen for over 6 months. Needed somewhere to eat so booked Badgers Set. Very enjoyable. Forgot to add we had 2 dogs with us. When they say dog friendly they mean dog friendly, not like a lot of other establishments that say dog friendly but they are not. Our 2 dogs were made very welcome another reason for going back. Good choice of beers and the food was excellent. Well done.🙂

We found the newly refurbished restaurant not too bad but slightly underwhelming as regards the meals.( half burnt Pizza and fairly bland Sea Bass dish ); however we were eating from the Luncheon menu and ordered at the cut off time of 5pm so haven't experienced any meals from the evening menu. We will try another meal trip at another time which is a recommendation in itself.

Just reopened after a refit! So decided to go for a lunch with friends ! Nice food but seemed a little pricey for a lunch! Seemed a nice refit and in keeping with the Pub and also noticed they were selling bread an various items ! Nice touch! Disappointed to notice in the Ladies Toilets that a light shade was missing when literally just opened also the hand soap pumps did not fit the holder’s as you could not press the pump whilst on the holder needs better dispenser! I had to remove from the holder to use the soap! Did not take the Gourmet Card now either! Unusual dessert too!

I booked a table at the badgers sett for my wife's birthday. Positives first, the pub and restaurant looked great and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Unfortunately the food itself was very disappointing. Quite expensive for what I would describe as very average/mediocre food. I had the Coquilles St.Jacques as a starter.I found this under seasoned and far to much liquid under the mash potatoes. It just turned into a sloppy mess. If the sauce was thicker it would of been much more enjoyable to eat. This starter was £10.25 so I would of expected higher quality at that price
I had the signature burger for main. The patty itself tasted ok but unfortunately this is where it stops. Same story here. It was just a sloppy mess with far too much sauce. I had to send it back to the kitchen as by the time it had got to our table it had literally collapsed and was spread all over the plate. What is with all the sauce?? Fair play this was dealt with and bought back to the table looking more like a £15.75 burger should.
I've tried to give positives where possible but I wouldn't be rushing back to eat there. I just don't think the prices are justifiable in comparison to the quality and portion sizes.
P. A.
Went in April, food fell short of what was expected for what they charge. Prawns overcooked, puddings cold in the middle and cheese board very disappointing for £8. Prices are above normal pub food and if it had been all good then we wouldn't have minded but it wasn't. Hope the feedback given on the night helps improve their service.
S. M.
Great choice on menu for food, friendly staff. Restaurant looks lovely having had a refurbishment. Highly recommended. Would definitely visit again when the weather is better to sit outside.
C.
We sat outside and the tables were pretty bad, none cleared and all of them covered in fingerprints and other peoples food. That said it was bank holiday so I know staff must have been hectic all day. I will say my sister had a pretty poor experience with one server, who rolled their eyes at her when she asked for a hot drink after her cold one. Not very professional. Had some chips, pretty tasty but covered in way too much mayo. The waitress who served could see there were empty glasses and the table needed a wipe but she didn't care and walked off. A bit of a mixed bag as it looks a lovely pub but perhaps bank holiday just got too much?
G. P.
Always go here for my birthday every year and this year they sent me a voucher for me to get 40% off. It wouldn't let me book a table online. So thought I'd just go and got there to find bookings only very disappointed especially as it was so quiet 😕.
I heard staff saying they had a no show and they closing for a month for refurbishment.
Its needing it. Will look forward to going once opened and I'll book this time
D.
Booked for 6 of us love the settings and so nicely decorated on being took to table we were tild a couple of dishes were not available which was no problem ... ordered starters beautiful then ordered mains 2 out of us had steak and peppercorn sauce . The sauce came out in a pot and to be honest the was about 4 teaspoons of sauce ...... then came dessert .the cheese board was a let down for the price would of expected a bit more cheese and the biscuits you get 5 small ones no butter ... all in all though we enjoyed the meal apart from the bots ive brought up
D. H.
Outstanding service and food as always.
And made my 40th birthday and father's day.thank you all especially Jo who looked after us during our visit who is incredible at her job and made us feel more than welcome..
J. D.
Food was amazing, service was good. Staff very friendly and professional. The inside was nice and clean and nicely decorated. I was very impressed with my first visit.
L. T.
Superb lunch here yesterday in the garden. Business looks great after its refurb and the staff seem to be friendlier than before which is lovely! Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the sunshine again!
E. W.
Fantastic service from our waitress Louise. Delicious food. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Can get busy especially on Fridays and weekends so book a table.
C. L.
Visit was on a Saturday evening, (3rd April)
The good news: Refurb is very good. The venue looks great
Service was excellent
The bad news: Small portions of calamari for starters for the price paid
First choice mains not available for 2 of the group, (different choices)
Beef stroganoff was a meagre portion for the price paid, especially considering it was 50% rice
One diners choice of dessert, (cheese and biscuits), was unavailable
Not acceptable. I accept there may be occasions when an item isn't available but to have so many options unavailable is really poor
I spoke to the staff about this and they handled the situation very politely and professionally. The price of the 3 desserts that were ordered was taken off the bill
All in all an unsatisfactory evenings dining saved purely by the excellent staff
This will not encourage us to return in a hurry and we certainly would not recommend to anyone based on our experience
R. s.
First time here in many years. We came for our Friends Birthday, The restaurant was busy but well run, staff very friendly and attentive, Food was delicious, Steak and Merlot pie, mash and veg, Amazing Carrot, never said that before, lol Great night out highly recommended. Thank you.
S. S.
Lovely place. Sat outside on a lovely sunny day. Food lovely, just totally over priced for the size of portion.
£9.50 for a fish finger wrap, which was only a mini wrap, no salad in it was extortionate.
N. B.
Pub looks lovely after its refurb, but the menu has changed and not for the better in my view. The pulled brisket sandwich with pickles and dripping, which was divine, is now a brisket hash with an egg an chopped potatoes, husband said it was ok but wouldn't order again. They had run out of steak sandwiches so I had the olive oil and balsamic with breads..had to return for a refund as the balsamic which should have been rich and a little sweet was like liquid marmite, so salty. I was given a refund and they would mention it to the chef 🤔 the staff were polite. Would we go back..not for a long while
S. J.
Booked a table in the newly and tastefully redecorated dog friendly bar. The food, a main and desert for 5 people was the usual high standard but sadly on this occasion there were ongoing issues with the service. Disapointingly the service was slow, a request for extra sauce with 2 of the mains was so slow the food had been eaten before it arrived, two of the deserts arrived late by which time others had already finished theirs and finally a waitress tried to put the deserts on the table which was covers in plates and cutlery from the main course. Rather than putting the deserts to one side she tried to push the plates in amongst the used plates from the main course. She then plonked the spoons on the table into a puddle of sauce. We were not given forks or offered clean napkins. As the standard is usually much higher I can only assume they were short staffed. Always give a tip but not on this occasion. 1 🌟 for service.
M. P.
Very good afternoon lunch with family. Nice veggie options. Mini desserts with coffee were a delight. Will return.
J. W.
Lovely place & dog friendly + you can go inside the bar area with them 😀we both had a lovely meal here, all staff very friendly, helpful & covid safe. Even our dog got treats & offer of some water 👍
L. S.
Got to the door with a booking. No one to greet and seat us. Waited a while then alsef at the bar. Was told by lady there to go to desk. But no one there. She didn't help us further. In the end we wee about to seat ourselves but had to accost a member of staff to seat us.
When seated we were told curtly that they were fully booked and esit time would be an hour at least. No apology from any member of staff that no one had welcomed or seated us or for the wait time.
Afterwards our different waitress was attentive and helpful. The good was lovely.
P. M.
Visited on the 15th April for evening meal, the people serving us where friendly especially our waitress, think her name is Becky, food was really tasty and well presented we had Ribeye steak and Forestiere chicken. Thankyou
M. H.
Came Friday evening booked table had gorgeous pork belly with runner beans and mash girlfriend had grilled chicken both were cooked to perfection ! We only waited 20 mins a lovely place we will come very often just living a mile away
T. B.
Lovely pub but service was very poor, waiting over 40mins for food, not getting second drinks order. Did want a pudding but wasn’t prepared to wait again
M. J.
Absolutely beautiful place, ill admit i did feel out of place but the warm welcome from all the lovely staff soon put paid to that, id defo go again, they welcome doggies too, great little spot
E.
Lovely meal here celebrating a family birthday

P. W.
Food was good.
Service was slow although staff appeared to work hard. Maybe more staff needed in the kitchen and front of housr
R. K.
Had a lovely meal with a friend midweek. Service was very attentive - Max especially - and food was really good. Felt very safe in these COVID times. Had a great time and will definitely visit again.
A.
Beautiful pub with delicous food, especially the roast lamb, and a great selection of drinks, including my favourite fruity cider. Lovely atmosphere and service. Perfect in the winter next to the fire or during the summer months sat in the large beer garden with pretty green surroundings
M. C.
Had a lovely meal outside in the beer garden. Will certainly visit again
D. B.
Food is always good. Menu has a good choice, the pub surroundings are lovely, loads of seating outside, bar is pleasant to eat in if you don't want the restaurant. Staff helpful and welcoming.
K. D.
Lovely 2 course meal last night - the brie tart was beautifully presented and tasty and the Christmas pud was the perfect size serving. I think Max was our server and he was quick and attentive. Friendly lady with dark hair on the bar made us smile on the way in and out. The Christmas tree was beautiful and the scent of mulled wine was inviting!
J. H.
I love this place. It has become a favourite place to eat for either an occasion or a spur of the moment evening out. Lovely food and great service.
D. K.
Service good, menu a little bland and uninteresting plus 3 of the dishes I may have chosen were off, it was okay but just okay, it could be so much better such a waste of a beautiful pub and restaurant, better menu and chef and they would be quids in
D. E.
Went here for the first time to meet relatives for Christmas present swap and a meal.
Lovely location, great food and excellent staff. Also catered for food allergy and staff knowledgeable on this issue. We will definitely be returning.
E. C.
Great food, very nice place, polite staff. Disappointed that servers weren't wearing masks. However, would go back again.
D. E.
Booked in for a mother's day brunch. Looks great for its recent refurbishment with the food and service still to a high standard.
R. I.
Haven't been since before lockdown. Had a revamp looks great. New menu good food and good value
T. W.
Found almost by accident but what a find. Honestly one of the best burgers (Home burger?) I've ever eaten, open fire, good cider, and dog friendly. Will return very soon!
R. W.
This is a favourite of ours. We went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. I recommend the rump of lamb, melt in the mouth. My wife had the trio of meats and that was lovely too. We have been here many times and have just about eaten our way through most of the menu. Never had a bad meal.
g. k.
Had a most enjoyable lunch
The food was excellent and the the service from Jo and Laura was just right. We were made to feel very welcome by the manager and staff, and although we were not from the area we would certainly stop there again if we came back. There was a very good atmosphere in the restaurant and overall it was a very good experience.
M. M.
Great food! Friendly servers! Good value for food! I would definitely return again! Xx
C. D.
Had a lovely meal, with great company. Sophie was exceptional on the bar and made me feel looked after
G. F.
Nice pub, would of gave it 4 stars but there was chewed up meat all over the floor where we were seated, bit gross to be honest, shame because with the fireplace warming the bar area with the freezing cold weather outside it was quite cosy.
M. S.
Beautiful surroundings and garden. Customer Service requires attention. Have been here once and met one server. Maybe she was having a bad day 🤷♀️
W. J.
The venue is lovely, well decorated with a great outdoor area...
but the food was not so great. It was very bland sadly.
K. K.
Been done up inside and looks fantastic, nice pint and reasonably priced . Haven't tried the food yet
J. V.
Great food, great service

Such a lovely place to go for a drink or a meal. Don't know what these recent reviews are taking about? It's great, lovely friendly staff, decent prices and quality food.

Nice food but expensive wasnt impressed with the extra roasties for £3.50 got about 5 and they was really small and still white.
S. S.
Very good COVID systems in place. High quality food and good selection of premium drinks available. Excellent service all round.
V. R.
Delicious food & lovely, friendly service. Would definitely recommend & will return soon!

I recently visited The Badgers Sett with my family and friends. We booked a table and they easily accommodated the 8 of us. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent.
L. J.
Service meal all excellent loved the new decor did think the sweets where a little over priced but will be visiting again soon
G. S.
This place needs a revamp! It's nice and quite cosy but it's tired. Time for Vintage Inns/Mitchell's & Butler's to splash the cash. I'm impressed that they have a Vegan menu as does The Old Bulls Head, a pub in the same group in Woodhouse Eaves. However The Bull is listed as a premium pub on its website and it shows. We were served by Liam, a very pleasant young man who was trying to be attentive but was rushed off his feet, the busier it got. A tad short staffed. Food wise I think I'd give it a 6/10. There was plenty of veriety for all tastes. Worth a try.
D. B.
Nice venue, but not value for money. Food was standard fayre with premium price......ok sums it up for me!
I. F.
Excellent place. Food great, service good and nicely situated venue
s. s.
Nice place to eat chill and have a beer sometimes forget its there but always nice
R. S.
Food was very nice, plenty of outside seating and good service. Reasonably priced.
M. L.
Beautiful setting lovely pint and great service as always
L. C.
Personal service with a smile, the waiter made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and The Badger's Sett offers a good selection of menu options. Their children's menu has activities on the back. The pub is set on land with a large field to look out on; perfect for us because the kids ran around enjoying the space. Would definitely visit again! Thanks for a super evening!
a. h.
Amazing food, service and drinks. The blackcurrant sorbet was perfect
D. W.
Lunch time drink and nibbles in the garden....very enjoyable 😉
K. H.
I love the tweedy armchairs and open fires in the Sett. There's a traditional feel that comes with the warm decor and Country setting. It's a great place to have a drink after a walk and the food is hearty and well priced. I come here alot and find it especially pleasant in autumn/winter.
M. F.
Always our first choice of restaurant. We love the food, the staff the atmosphere . . . Nothing is too much trouble - every possible effort is made to meet our special dietary needs and preferences, and service is always with a smile. We were there yesterday and are already looking forward to going tomorrow.
B. V.
Been going for years. It has improved tremendously over time. There’s even a Vegan menu, not easy to find in this neck of the woods.
C. H.
Nice dinner for a reputable chain (Vintage Inn). Great refurbishment and location.
E. D. M.
Great service and great location.
If you're vegan I wouldn't recommend coming here, I'd come as part of a party paid £11.95 for a salad which consisted of:
2 asparagus spears cut in half, 3 small chunks of watermelon, a handful of watercress and a sprinkle of peas.
It was also missing the 'omega sprinkles'.
I could of literally made a better salad for £3 so i imagine the gp on that salad is great for the chef but very sad for the customer.
C. D.
Had a delicious meal at the Badgers Sett but was really disappointed with the portion size to price ratio of the vegetarian meals. I had the salad with halloumi and it was barely a handful of salad with three chips of halloumi - for £15 I was disappointingly unsatisfied and left hungry. Also, it's a shame that the restaurant doesn't alter the menu for seasonality - asparagus in November? My friend who had veggie lasagne felt the same about the portion size and pitiful side salad. Shame because the food was really nice.
C. L.
Had a nice lunch here. Dog friendly which was a nice bonus with water and bowls available. Order a sharing platter and pizza and was pleasantly surprised.
S. C.
Best pub in the area by far, the team are so passionate about what they do, you can see it in everything that they serve. The food always tastes so fresh and well cooked and the servers just can’t do enough to make sure your have a good visit.

Was a really nice pub got an outdoor area that can have dogs. The food is lovely and staff were happy to help. When the food came out we all enjoyed and the pizza is recommended.

Our Niece came up from Folkestone and we chose to go to The Badgers Sett. Once again a wonderful, delicious meal from the team up there and a BIG thank you to our lovely waitress Hannah. Apparently she has only been there a short while, but took care of us with smiles, pleasantries and professionalism. A true asset to your restaurant. Thank you and look forward to our next visit.
S. N.
Fabulous staff and so welcoming to my dog. They supplied clean dog bowls and fresh water plus dog biscuits. Other so called dog friendly places could do well to follow their example
Food was excellent as well 👍

Well what a fabulous lunch we just had here, gosh it was just lovely!! The food was super delicious, the atmosphere was great & the service was spot on! Thank you for such a great first experience with you.

Nice food after a walk round Bradgate park but unfortunately pretty cold where we sat which spoilt things slightly.
C. J.
Nice friendly staff and absolutely superb food. One of the nicest meals I have ever eaten in any restaurant, anywhere.

A good menu to suit most tastes. Sadly, some new potatoes hard & uncooked otherwise enjoyed the meal.
Service was excellent & staff attentive.

Nice surroundings near Bradgate Park. Dog friendly pub, the beer is a bit pricey but I can pop in and have a pint after a dog walk and warm up near the open fire.
I. S.
The Chef is really letting this place down at the moment. Disappointing to hear of changes to staff that didn’t need making apart from the chef!
M. C.
Came accross this place by just driving by and gave it a try. Its pet friendly, super cozy and has really lovely friendly staff. Had a really nice evening and the food was delicious. Will definately return.
M. S.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, fab food and the manager is just so warm and welcoming every time we visit, it’s our favourite local… try the baked mushrooms for sure!
K. R.
Food lovely but choice a little limited

Excellent pub/restaurant in Cropston. Very friendly staff.
t. p.
Ample parking, very welcoming staff, warm and relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and choice of large menu
M. W.
Honestly no complaints at all, I came with my girlfriend a few weeks ago as we wanted somewhere local that neither of us had been to before. I had a steak (medium) which was cooked to perfection and the girlfriend had the pesto crusted salmon, which she absolutely loved. Even though it was busy it never felt overcrowded and the atmosphere was spot on. All of the staff were very polite with the guests and seemed very friendly.
We will definitely be returning again soon and would recommend it to anyone who may be considering it.
S. J.
A very nice place to go for a meal as very good quality. And a drink 👍
O. T.
Great pub with a nice green to relax on. Food is decent... Great choice of drinks etc. Close to vradgate Park and an amazing lake to the right of the exit
K. C.
Sunday lunch absolutely amazing. Would recommend to anyone.
P. T.
Great food as always. Friendly staff
M. C.
Went in this afternoon for a quick drink on our way home, and followed the signs towards the host to get seated. She was rather blunt and not really welcoming, but gave us a drinks menu nonetheless. We wandered through the fantastic looking bar, to a lovely garden and found a table.
We studied the drinks menu for a few minutes, were ignored by a couple of staff clearing nearby tables, so decided to leave about 10min after walking in. Disappointing as we'd heard good things, and the location and building were stunning.
Might be an idea to add some non-alcoholic drinks on the drink menu, a whole page of different wines is great; but not what we fancied at 1pm.
Judging from other reviews we must have caught the staff on a bad day as others are pretty positive. Maybe we'll try again when the world's a bit more normal.
a. b.
quality food and pleasant staff, not the cheapest prices but I'd rather pay slightly more and enjoy the food than go somewhere else that will cost less and regret going there, the sweet platter is a must
D. C.
Lovely setting, lovely building, looking a little tired inside but more than capable of providing much needed refreshment in beautiful surroundings after a day's walking.
A. J.
Well organised for social distancing and track & trace. The menu had a good choice of items and the wine list offered a decent range too. The food was very tasty though my fish cakes benefitted from extra mayo. Table service was friendly and efficient and the setting was pleasing and comfortable.
A. G.
The location is second to none and the staff and customer service was excellent.
The only improvement area is value for money. I ordered a plant burger and fries (£13.95 from memory).
Apart from that everything else was great...
N. P.
Excellent service by Chris. Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. We look forward to our next visit. Recommended.
L. S.
Lovely food, friendly staff, great setting (for humans as well as badgers)
S. H.
Always great, the staff are so welcoming and such a lovely atmosphere. Drinks choices are plentiful and well kept and the food is better than your normal pub food.
A. W.
A brilliant meal outside in pleasant garden surroundings. Polite serving staff. Delicious starters, mains tasty and as for the desserts. Wow! Definitely on our call again list.
A. J.
Visited here for lunch on my wife's birthday. Lovely venue with friendly attentive staff. There was a decent choice of real ales and a wide choice on the wine list. We had a shared starter, which was excellent, but I had issues with my main course from the "specials" menu. It arrived without the tempura prawns, which one of the waitresses had to go and get, and the monkfish was disappointing. It appeared to be a couple of offcuts of the very tail ends, were just cooked and looked unappetizing. The desserts, thankfully, were lovely. Although we had some disappointments we will return.
T. A.
Excellent service, food and covid precautions.
An amazing dining experience, they made our anniversary meal so special very grateful for all that they did for us making it very special for my wife
C. C.
Lovely country pub, outdoor seating area.
m. d.
Had a really nice meal here and the service was brilliant from all the staff would highly recommend wi be coming back the fish and chips were superberb compliments to your brilliant chefs and the kitchen staff well done 10 out of 10
T. P.
Lovely food, great service!
B.
Nicely located. Food is nice. Friendly staff. Lovely outside area for alfresco dining in the summer months. We had the sticky meat platter today- which was very nice. One small suggestion though - a finger bowl would have been appreciated!
S. J.
Great food. We needed to book and it was quite busy when we arrived. Service was spot on ( thanks Jake) and our food was fab - we even had 50% off mains.
Covid procedures were all in place but it didn't distract from the experience/ atmosphere. Will deffo be back.
J. B.
Great food and great setting, some staff members seem to have a chip in their shoulder and a bit of an attitude but other than that had a lovely lunch.
R. W.
Lovely meals, excellent atmosphere and friendly service from Alice who waited on us. Would highly recommend.
D. b.
Great place, the food was really nice and the staff are very friendly. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and my boy was very happy there too as there was dodgy treats as you came in which made him feel welcome and in turn we were able to have a nice meal as a complete family. The food came out fairly quickly and was nice and hot, you could if you want as well sit outside but as it was raining we chosen the bar area which after a long day of walking about was nice and warm, I also loved they had thought about my boy and left towels so he could be dryed off before we went into the pub so he could lay down and relax nice and dry. I thought the prices were not that bad for the type of place as it look really well presented with a good eye for the details in the decor. With all that I've said about I would recommend this place if you like good food and even more so if you have a four legged friend as it is definitely one of the better places I've been and I try new places a lot.
L. T.
Really nice location and helpful staff, but food portions for the price are pretty small and the dishes we ordered so far were not worth the money . Will still go back for sure but hoping portions match the prices as its a great place
J.
Excellent level of service. Friendly and attentive. Ordered Sunday roast, lead time on food service very good- 10/15mins for mains. Daughter's food served first (which is always appreciated!). Very reasonably priced. Warm country pub atmosphere and decor. Would definitely recommend and re-visit.
j. g.
Amazing pub definitely not the cheapest in the area but by far the BEST food lovely outdoor sitting area which is DOG FRIENDLY with plenty of space for large family meals
R.
Nice country pub with a great restaurant.
Has a rustic feel with a Christmas sparkle.
Good food which is reasonably priced with a set menu option.
Our server was Jake. A credit to the establishment as he was both professional and welcoming. Thank you for the great service, will be coming back for sure.
n. w.
Lovely setting, friendly staff, only had a drink but looking at the menu there's plenty of choice and is reasonably priced
R. M.
Lovely roast dinner. Very good social distancing felt very comfortable. Staff very polite. Delicious bannoffee pie! Beer garden is lovely looking out onto fields.
E. H.
Great service by waitress. Even offered a Sunday lunch to my three dogs. Very kind of them . We had a lovely meal
V. P.
Excellent food, lovely staff, and beautiful location as usual.
Visited for the first time since lockdown, and they made us feel very welcome, tje social distancing rules are being done perfectly. Overall they are doing an awesome job!
P. E.
Stopped for a drink while out cycling for health. Very welcoming and freindly service. One member of staff took interest in me in a freindly conversation as they were not busy that time
Peter
G. F.
Lovely village pub lots of carecter very friendly staff nice outdoor area excellent food but abit pricey definitely recommend
G. J.
Nice village pub and a nice food menu give it a try
C. E.
Met with my elderly parents for lunch on Saturday. I was impressed by the range of beers and wines available the welcome was warm and heartfelt and our table was ready for us. The service accommodated my fathers slightly bizarre sense of humour and the quality of food was what you would expect from this sort of pub. Tasty without being fancy well presented without being beautiful. Good value for money and highly memorable due to the wonderful service.
C. W.
This is a super country pub with ample seating areas a bar area. There is also an outside seating area and open fires in the winter. The menu is very varied and caters for all tastes. The food is beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
J. S.
First time here & was very impressed! Had the Sunday lunch & it was delicious, plenty on the plate & well cooked! Crumble for dessert & it was also delicious & good size! Staff were very pleasant & served quickly! Will definitely recommend & go again!
M. R.
Lovely food, great setting and good value
D.
Weather was absolutely beautiful so my partner and I sat in the gardens. We had a cider and ordered some food... Stone Baked Pizza and Chunky Chips - which was delicious and made to perfection! The bar staff was well mannered and overall we had a lovely lunch. Thank You! We will be back again soon 🙂
D. G.
Excellent food and service as always
R. B.
Bar area great for dogs. Very friendly staff.
L. W.
Great place for lunch and the desserts were fab. Friendly and professional staff made us feel very welcome.
T. S.
Best chicken pie I've ever eaten! This was my 1st visit and won't be the last!
M. B.
Nice Pub great location, clean and tidy. Can get busy on weekends. Varied selection of pub grub at fairly decent prices. Choice of ales and wines are okay. Food was presented well, all fresh and tasty. Staff were friendly. To conclude, we would return if in the area.
S. D.
Came here after a walk around Bradgate Park. Nice setting, operating social distancing correctly, lovely food, nice selection of drinks, and very friendly and accommodating staff. Would come back again, without a doubt.
P. M.
Lovely place to visit. Great parking access and easy to find. Nice pleasant atmosphere well presented. Waiter/waitress service was great. They were quick to see to you and meet your spesfic needs. ( we wanted to move table ) They were polite too. Prices were medium and perhaps a bit high on other items. We had a starter and main. Soup of the day with x2 thinish slices of bread and butter. Wife sdid it was ok. I had scallops and black pudding. That was not great. Scallops were very small and could have been cooked a bit longer. The black pudding were also very small and well over Cooked and tasted of nothing they were served with a pea bed. The pea bed was lovely. For mains we had crumb pesto salmon and hunters chicken. My wife loved the salmon and the fillet was a fantastic size. My hunters chicken portion was standard. The chicken was super super dry unfortunately. Great taste to the sauce served separately. So the lack of quality food stopped a 5 start rating. Would return for sure see if it would be better with the food. It was incredibly busy.
D. T.
Brilliant. Loved the food atmosphere and the staff were polite
f. v. d. w.
such a lovely experience our waitress hannah was absolutely lovely and service was incredible from all members of staff highly recommend x
D. G.
What a lovely pub, with great food and choice of beverages, set in an amazing part of the National forest, would highly recommend a visit to all 👍
S. D.
Lovely meal friendly staff
L. W.
Very enjoyable. Good relaxing atmosphere. I tried something new tonight, intend bringing some friends over for a meal on Friday and hope to persuade one of them to share the Camembert so I can have it again. I asked for a fillet steak to be medium to well done. Unfortunately it was very well done but I ate it anyway. Good service to.
D. F.
Great location. Covid guidelines being followed well and staff constantly cleaning and using anti bacterial gels.
Only lost one star as food quantity didn't match the price. A few chips and burger on a huge plate looks like they are being tight on portion size.
A. S.
Good food, good prices, friendly staff and easy to book
S. C.
Booking system online works well.
The food was a real mixed bag.The Pies were beautiful. The Hunters Chicken eatable but overcooked however three people had the Gammon which was uneatable. In fairness to the staff, who were excellent, the meals were replaced without question and the ensuing Fish and Chips and Pie were fine.
Sadly in spite of the friendly staff I would find it hard to recommend the place as it was I who booked it for a small party of eight people and therefore felt responsible for the evening.
K. L.
Lovely pub, especially in nice weather as the outdoor area is great. We had some starters which were delicious. There is also plenty of parking available.
Only reason I did not give 5 stars is I have come across a few rude bartenders.
J. B.
Lovely food and very helpful staff. Great service. Would recommend.
G. S.
Lovely place, nice food, friendly staff, dog friendly. I would give 5 stars, but unfortunately the cleanliness is terrible. It doesn't necessarily take away from my enjoyment of eating here, but I see how some might be put off.
Management, please ensure you have a deep clean on a regular basis and keep on top of it! This really does let down the rest of your business.
M. P.
Visited the Badger's sett last tues for the first time, would highly recommend. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The place its self is operating a one way system due to social distancing. The food was excellent and service to match. Certainly will not be my last visit
C.
Food is always on Point.
Staff are friendly and attractive.
Highly recommend for Sunday roast or just a casual dinner/lunch, portion sizes are perfect and the drinks are very good 👍
J. M.
Lovely place to grab a drink and/or meal. I went for the vegetarian option which was a delicious bean burger, whilst the other half enjoyed her fish and chips. Would definitely go again after walking through some of the local area.
R. L.
Very simple experience from start to finish, very spaced out, distanced and clean. Staff were wonderfully friendly, especially with our one year old. Food was wonderful and quickly served, would love to go back again
M. G.
Table needed clearing but it was a busy day and we we're grateful to find seats outside. This was done within a reasonable time. Food tasty and service very good. 4* because one choice from the menu was unavailable
n. j.
Beautiful pub but pints are abit expensive £5.15 for 1 😆 but qpart from that well worth the visit
M.
Great night out with friends
M. B.
,the veg in the pork, dinner were hard so they were not eaten!!
D. E.
Lovely sunday lunch here with my sons on 31 8 20 lamb shank was delicious.although the prawn coctail was a little scarce far too much lettuce would have looked nicer presented in a tall stem glass.
j. c.
The staff are lovely & some of the food, e.g. Portobello mushrooms & chicken & mushroom pie, is great. However, the battered fish is very dry & the steak & onion in a baguette is awful - chewy steak, a few strands of onion & a half chewy, half tough baguette as if over-microwaved. A real mix of delicious & poor.
C. S.
Beautiful food! Excellent service. Doom Bar on tap! What more can you ask for? Just had the beef duo for two: beef slices and brisket. Highly recommend (and have the cauliflower cheese with it!)
t. g.
new owners, good menu!
J. K.
Pros.
We love the mixed grill, however it's only available Saturday's and possibly Sunday. All the food here is good though. They have what I call both a restaurant seating area (with open fire) and also more of a country pub style sitting area (with less tables, more cozy) again with its own open fire. Waiter service. Onsite parking. Outside table. If you like this I think they Guy owns a few more in the area (ish) same style. We're never disappointed. Oh yes, and the chunky chips are worth travelling for!
Con.
Still waiting to see them make a liqueur coffee that hasn't ran!
Overall, very good. We go nearly every week so have a good idea of what's going on there.
P. B.
Great location. Sat by the fire. Very cosy. We had fish and chips which were average. The fish batter was soggy and the tartare sauce was rationed as they had run out. The service from the young man behind the bar was excellent.
J. C.
Great pub food with no pretentions. Service was top notch. Warm and welcoming atmosphere with no pressure to vacate once our meal was finished. Prices slightly below average.
S. K.
Friendly efficient staff. Quick service. Good quality of food in a fantastic building with wonderful surrounding.
Well worth repeated visits.
R. S.
Good food and plenty of outside space.
You can reserve online or risk it and just turn up. Use the app for a 10% discount
N. H.
Great food, friendly staff. Can't wait to get back inside. Lovely country pub
B. H.
Lovely setting service was a bit slow but the guy (I'm guessing he was the manager at the time) was trying hard to keep up with all the outside tables
J. B.
Well, very nice pub, they serve Doombar, so that can't be bad. Waitresses weren't friendly or unfriendly, probably because they were busy. I had the beef borginon which was very nice, however the cheddar dumpling was a lump of dough. Clearing the table was something they were very bad at. Overall not bad.
A. I.
Pleasant staff and surroundings. Great food too!
M. W.
Friendly welcome, great food, low key atmosphere, great for good food and a catch up!
m. b.
Very friendly good food and reasonably priced what more could you ask for. Mike
D. M.
100% Recomended!!! Great Staff!
We ALSO had a booking at 6pm earlier this evening and upon arriving we could clearly see that the eastablishment was very busy as the car park was over flowing. Due to the extreamly nice weather and being a Sunday evening and the location of the pub being next door to bradgate Park, I wasn’t surprised. Some customers should open their eyes and realise that longer waiting times for food are to be expected, especially as all the seating outside and the majority of the inside was full and were all probably ordering food or drinks.
The staff did the best they possibly could and especially the young dark haired lady, who was working at the front of the restaurant, greeting people as they came in. She remained extreamly polite and helpful even though she was clearly stressed and didn’t deserve other people’s stupid complaints and moans because they can’t open their eyes to realise the world doesn’t revolve around them. (Give her a raise!)
We thanked the staff and gave a nice tip as we still received a lovely meal in a lovely environment despite them being clearly over run.
Well done everyone
J. H.
A very cosy place to eat. The menu is varied with both meat and vegetarian dishes and are good value for money. A delightful seating area outside in the summer and warm evenings and inside is well decorated with a cosy wood fire in the winter season. The only thing I would consider need for consideration is the facilities as the upstairs can
be a bit daunting for the elderly. Well worth a visit and the website provides an online booking system all year round.
C. K.
Lovely place, good food, outdoor area is very spacious, great for a spontaneous Sunday pub lunch
D. W.
Good clean ale, fine selection of spirits and lager, friendly staff, beautiful surroundings. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, I didn't eat here but the food looks like very tasty pub fare.
S. C.
Lovely lunch here! Cosy, comfortable, good service, tasty food and the excellent option of a small 'taste' of dessert + coffee for £4.50 - for those of us who cannot manage a full dessert. Great idea!
P. B.
Great food, reasonably priced. Asked for table at 1pm and was told it was full but found plenty of room when we arrived (at 1pm) and were able to eat earlier than booked. Good service. No nonsense.
R. B.
Ordered the set menu for £14.50 for two course. Had steak and it took a while to arrive and was not the best. Frozen chips 1 onion ring and two lettuce leaves consisted the salad. No mushrooms or very good presentation. On a plus note young lads behind the bar were very good and polite. I will not rush back to eat. Might pop in for a drink if passing
M. W.
Lovely meal from a nicely varied menu. Staff friendly and professional. Will be back.
C. S.
Best sunday dinner ever! Fab service, amazing food! Highly recommended!
S. L.
Really nice pub, the service is nice and quick. There's enough parking. Theres also a large choice of food available as well as a live fire burning away which is quite unique. Would definitely visit this place again!
P. B.
Shaky start with our food being delayed by an hour. this was rectified quickly by the staff which were all lovely and offered us a full refund. The only down side was the bar staff that had Finished shifts that evening sat out in the gardens with customers, which is totally fine, but they proceeded to slate customers they had served effing and described one customer as a c**t! Totally unacceptable in my eyes. So whilst the other members of staff were amazing and the food was great, the 3 members of staff that sat outside calling out customers (that were all sat outside still!) Totally let the pub down! Very much a dissapointment.
M. T.
Lovely food and atmosphere
A. S.
One of my favourite pubs to go to. Friendly staff & nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable
F. D.
Had a great meal on a weekday lunchtime. We had our greyhound with us and dogs are welcome in the bar area (there are still tables in there set up for dining). They even have a big basket full of dog toys. Our dog enjoyed choosing one to play with. Staff were friendly and meals very nice. Fields next door, on Bradgate Park's doorstep (walking distance from the pub) so is the perfect location for walks and a drink/meal after. Had Aspals cider on draught, so they had my vote with ease. We would recommend and will visit again.
G. B.
1st time visiting this well presented country pub. Fully enjoyed the slow roasted lamb dinner.. banoffee pie to follow! Gorgeous!
Staff all polite and welcoming
R. K.
Great service, everyone welcoming, good food recommendations. Will be back again.
Very covid aware aswell. 👍
O. “.
Extremely delicious Sunday roast, staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was lovely
G. M.
Friendly staff. Food awesome. Location very nice with good access and near t o bradgate park
J. H.
Lovely food and service, up in this area visiting family and will definitely come back. Staff very welcoming and friendly.
J. J.
Me and my friend had the set price menu. My fish and chips were good but her pizza was a little disappointing. Both deserts were very nice. Good value for the money.
J. W.
Lovely place, service excellent, staff very friendly. Food gorgeous. Just a tiny complaint, a little mean with their fab chips, just wasn't enough of them to make you feel full.. 6 more chips please
M. C. (.
We have booked here for our Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day so we wanted to check it our prior to the day and I am glad! We won't be disappointed because the food was lovely, very well presented and the portions were large..
Staff attentive but not in your face and the house Melbec went down a treat..
Well done to all the staff.
D. D.
Food and service where both fabulous x
C. v. H.
Good food, great beer, friendly service
B. D.
Lovely looking place, staff are very friendly and helpful, meals delicious, I'm a vegan, and there was a good choice on the menu, and it was very tasty, will definitely go again 👍
R. S.
Food was exceptional. Staff were very friendly and helpful, I highly recommend the duo of lamb. I look forward to going back.
T. B.
"I know... We'll stop somewhere for lunch". Friday just after 1pm. As usual, reassuringly busy. New lunchtime 2/3 course table d'hote menu up to 5pm. After 5 switching to evening fair with a bit more zing. Nice selection offering variety but a la carte available if you fancy something different. 2 two courses for us this time. Calamari with sweet chill chipotle dip. Puff pastry covered chicken and mushroom pie with seasonal vegetables and mash. The boss.. Cod goujons, triple cooked chips, mushy peas, tartar and mint sauces. Finale of creme brulee with almond biscuits and fresh strawberry. £25 the lot. No issues at all, See you again soon.
d. s.
Lovely experience best food I've had in a while although social distancing was being upheld it didn't feel restricted like some places highly recommend
S. N.
One of my favourite pubs to go to. Lovely open fire in winter and big seating area outside in summer. Great decor inside and out. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Always go here!
D. K.
Food was very nice. Good selection. However, service let them down. Sides left off order. Slow to clear plates and forgot to bring pudding board. Not very busy as staff stood chatting around till area.
M. F.
Great to have 'proper' food instead of the generic, tasteless food you seem to get from pubs nowadays. Staff were very attentive, polite and friendly. We'll be going back again.
N. W.
Great place. 1/2 price mains deal for lunch. Great service from all the staff. Covid awareness was good. Food delicious.
J. C.
Always helpful especially with disabilities and animals. Very large portions although some dishes may benefit from having smaller portions especially with my 93 year old auntie. Another couple of disabled spaces would also be beneficial. But saying all that the staff make the badgers sett what it is. It has to be visited to explain how special it is
K. L.
Gluten free options are extremely limited, no gluten free menu, and even the caeser salad was not gluten free. I have come away feeling ill, so the "gluten free Sunday roast" may not have been completely gluten free.
Lovely place, fantastic beer garden. Just not good for gluten free.
J. H.
Ambiance good but disappointed that the expected roast pork meals were actually salty gammon type pork. When I told our waitress she said that she knew exactly what we meant and added that she always drank half a pint of water after eating it to counteract the saltiness!
E. K.
Have eaten here a few times and enjoyed the meals but what I like best here is to sit outside after work with a beer or class of wine to wind down the day. A pretty country pub with parking available. Handy for a walk to Bradgate park or Cropstone reservoir.
D. C.
Nice atmosphere, nice food. Lovely setting. Visited twice in the past 2 months and will return again in the future.
s. t.
Excellent service, great quality food, a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended
H. S.
Nice food, nice surroundings. Great Covid security.
G. B.
This is a lovely restaurant, which gets extremely busy. Unfortunately each time I've visited something was not quite right either the service is very slow or worse their not busy but your ignored. Food however was generally good when it arrived, occasionally over cooked.
C. W.
Didn't stay to eat. Was helping at a fate /dog show in the grounds. Looked lovely. Rustic but elegant. Very clean. Staff were lovely. Might be a bit pricey for me.
C. H.
They have done the place up lovely
M. H.
good thank you, even accommodated our horse and a carrot
S.
Been here many times and always had a good experience - good quality dining and food priced fairly with polite and friendly service.
A. S.
Excellent food, we were seated easily without a reservation and the service was top notch. Bit pricey, but will go back, maybe on payday.
C. M.
Wonderful food, brilliant service, only fault could do with the natural fire going to complete. Since doing the last review have again visited the restaurant and the food and service was nowhere near as good as the first time.
M.
Very nice pub. Its a pub that's good to relax and chat. Does seem a.noisy boisterous venue. Good for if you just been a walk at Bradgate or Swithland woods. Not a big selection of ales for me bt food was served quickly even considering few were there at the time. Food was and looked tasty too.
D. L.
Works retirement evening .staff very friendly helpful and polite. Very high quality food piping hot. Presentation first class.would definitely recommend. Thankyou for making our evening very pleasurable.
A. B.
Always loved this place. Awesome outside area. Very relaxing and people always pleasent. Great for a summer afternoon or evening. Food is always excellent if sometimes a little pricey.
S. G.
Really nice and tasteful.
Problem with wasps in the garden, I know it's nature but they could create diversions.i.e sweet decoy offerings hanging off nearby trees.
Top food created by professional chefs in a beautiful traditional English village setting with a thatched cottage to the right on entering. food is not overpriced but would deter the chav.
Toilets are upststairs and there are disabled toilets available also on the ground floor.
E. H.
Had a great lunchtime meet up with friends here! The pub is only a short walk from the carpark by the reservoir at Bradgate park - so fab for a post hike meal! I would really recommend the weekend treats menu - 3 courses plus drinks ( bottle of wine to share included) for £26 including options like steak, scallops and camembert! Would definitely go back again :)
S. H.
Brilliant food, staff very attentive. Menu excellent.
J. B.
Lovely pub, we only stopped for a quick drink but nearly ended up having dinner as the menu looked great and the food smelt lovely. Will be returning to try the food.
M. R.
Very friendly, helpful staff. A good varied menu with excellent food and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend to friends and family and looking forward to returning.
A. H.
Love this pub. The restaurant is lovely and the food is always served hot ,well presented and very tasty.
The pub is in a lovely countryside location and has a beautiful outdoor area surrounded by Leicestershire countryside.
M. O.
Food was nice and staff were friendly and helpful. Would have 5 stars if not for the baby changing table not being clean in an otherwise well maintained toilet, and first steak was overcooked but was replaced quickly.
S.
Service was slow, food wasn't as good as expected and was expensive so expected a high quality.
P.
Sunday lunch in july...AMAZING food and the staff are so nice. Polite welcoming and informative. The garden is peaceful even tho it was full when we went.2 of us had mains and a couple of drinks and the cost was less than £40 so very reasonable for the lovely food and service....we will DEFINATELY be going again....oh and Dog Friendly which is very helpful as near Bradgate park and cropston.
A. B.
I had the chicken and cambert sandwich which was tiny, infact my 2 year old grandaughters burger lunch was bigger than mine. Staff and decs were great but let down by my portion size ☹
C. S.
Celebrated my birthday here last night.
Staff were lovely and friendly.
We had food served in the bar. Quick service.
Pub food at a fair price.
M. B.
Excellent choice on the lunch time menu. Friendly and efficient service. Great tasting food at very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.
C. e.
Lovely friendly staff amazing food and good price for what you get. Quite up market but not stuffy nose. Definitely worth a visit o will be back next time I am visiting the area
M. C.
Great food and lovely staff
K. B.
Nipped in on a Friday lunchtime and it was quite busy but we were quickly shown to a table and enjoyed a nice 3 course lunch. Food was as expected when ordering from a set menu. Would visit again.
J. H.
Gorgeous food. I had Sunday lunch mixed meat. Plenty off it. Home made yorkies. Beautiful gravy and a lovely aray off sauces presented on your plate.
G. S.
Spot on every time.
Service is always reliable (if there's a wait on food they'll tell you straight) food is always good and value for money.
Book in advance for weekend lunches as they're often busy.

Lovely location & atmosphere. Friendly, helpful & polite staff. Great selection of alcohol free & alcoholic drinks. Good meal offers & a la carte menu.

Excellent value weekend menu. Service closing on exemplary from our man Jake. First ever visit but will not be our last! Well done chef.

Popped in Saturday lunchtime. Beautiful day, definitely service without a smile.
A little overpriced for quality of food and service. Dirty cutlery found in table pot which put me right off. Probably wouldn't recommend on this occasion.

We visited on Boxing Day and were disappointed that, although it was only 1pm, 2 of our choices were not available on the festive menu and no alternatives were offered! No welcoming staff and service was slow as they were very busy.
R. W.
Food quality and presentation was excellent, but quantity was very small, nowhere near enough food, and I'm not big eater.
G. M.
Food was good. Plenty of space between diners although not busy when we were there. Outside eating space.
D. C.
Nice food but the service could be better. Nearly ended up paying for someone elses drinks that had been added to our tab, then the staff seemed more interested in who hadn't paid rather that offering any gestures of goodwill to make up for the inconvenience. If i hadn't noticed, i would have ended up paying an extra £20, making a joke of it really wasn't the best option with someone that was already annoyed.

Celebrated a friend's 60th here and it was a large table. The service was good, the food good, the courses came quickly, the staff were keen and friendly. Overall a good experience.
M. L.
Loved it here, first time.. food was good and the staff were great... despite dodging showers in the garden... definitely be visiting again...

food is nice but they are trying to be to fancy and upmarket I had a Sunday roast that consisted of a mini leg of lamb a spoon of cabbage and four road potatoes I left still hungry 🤔 beautiful atmosphere great for familys

Pleasant Vintage Inn with standard menu plus some specials. Beers a bit limited in terms of real ales but a pleasant place to relax for an unhurried meal.
D. P.
A lovely pub to enjoy a meal in after a walk at Bradgate park.
G. M.
Great food. Lovely beer garden, possibly best in Leicester. Staff can be a little slow but it's because of the high staff turnover.
D. P.
Great looking building and setting. Nice atmosphere inside but a little tired / unclean on our visit unfortunately. Seemed busy though which is a good sign.
C. S.
Great service, and great food. Made to feel really welcome. Food is too pricey for my liking though

Great food and location, but as per its sister, The Red Cow, reeeeeeeally slow service. The atmosphere, food and staff just about make up for it.
F. G.
Food and drinks slow to come, this was the first time we visited and it was Good Friday.
But for a vintage Inn, I did think that we had had better meals at other pubs.
D. W.
We really liked the experience and spent a very pleasant time in the garden with good food and our friends

Food ok but nothing special. Price reasonable - not cheap but not over priced either. Service a bit slow for only a modestly busy Saturday lunchtime. Nice location and atmosphere. Not terribly clean.

The Badger has lovely outdoor space and is appealing inside. The staff are friendly and the drinks are good, but the food is mixed. On busy days the service is very slow.

Many thanks to all the staff involved

We always feel welcome here. Whether just for a drink or for a meal, lovely surroundings and reasonably priced menu.
J. B.
Great service in a picturesque setting. Not a bad pint of Nelson too
D. H.
Nice outdoor space, most tables get the sunshine until late. It's looking a little tired at the end of the summer so hopefully it'll get a refresh for next year.
S. l.
Really lovely roast and great friendly staff. Thank you for making our weekend away enjoyable.
B. 3.
