Reviews of The Barley Mow
C. R.
I only call in on the way back to the railway station, so I'm not sure that my opinion might be worth much, however, the beer is good, the staff seem bored or disconnected. It appears that they have favourites or locals who they favour, their choice obviously, but you won't go in here to get a warm welcome 🤷🏼♂️

I'm 68 yrs old and yous to go to this pub when i was a young man with my mates when I visited Leicester ,and I have to say it's a 100% better now.
Great barstaff and brilliant atmosphere.
R. A.
Only place I found open to have a beer after shopping in sweltering heat. Shame they do not serve food.
A. M.
Great service would have been better if they could turn to music down on the side where the rugby was on, and have the commentary on
M. W.
Amazing little place just in the outside of the train station
Great Prices for a small local
And some amazing deals on the products
Cask Ale is a must
C. B.
Lovely little pub, drinks were pretty cheap for leicester. Looked like it had been recently done up. Lovely little find.
C. M.
Its a very nice place for drinks , under new management
p. “. m.
Fairly busy but no problem felt relaxed had a couple of drinks. Fair pricing
P. F.
Now under new management. It's clean and presentable with some fashionable beers, shots and bottled drinks including Zero Alcohol lager and cider too, which is excellent. The photos on this info page need updating because they now don't sell Everard's draught Beers and they don't currently serve hot food either. It has had a basic makeover and it now has additional australian style seating in a seperate area at the back. However, I demoted one star because the Toilets haven't been modernised and there isn't a disabled persons toilet at the moment. Hopefully they will convert the current ladies and gents toilet areas, which have very narrow cubicles, to two disabled accessible toilet rooms and a smaller trough area for gents who prefer to stand.
N. E.
A good pub to drink in before a Tigers match. More staff on match days would give it 5 stars.
G. N.
Popped in for one pint after coming off the train. Good pub.
A. O.
Got served quickly but not cheap. Pint of Strongbow £4.90, went to the off licence across the road afterwards, a Pint can of Strongbow £1.45
T. C.
Very poor drinks selection, no cask ale and only some very average watery lagers available.
J.
Pleasant Bar,very quiet when we were in. Not badly priced.
C. P.
Kyle is a great man it is always clean in there also a great laugh
M. C.

Went to Liecester to visit my son who is at uni there. Found this pub as we was walking from the station and as I'm not to good on my feet seemed a good place to stop for a drink as its only 5 minutes walk from the train station. It's what I would call a traditional pub and had the added bonus that you never got treated like a alien for being from out of town. There was a good choice of real ales and lager and a decent size snack menu although we did not eat there this time there did looked plenty to chose from if we was planning on eating. The staff were friendly and there was music playing just at the right level so you could still talk but tap away to the music. There was nothing not to like and no reason why I wont be returning next time I go and visit my son.
C. B.
Lovely little place. Had a lovely breakfast there and the beer is always nice. We go there everytime we visit Leicester. It's a nice quiet escape right amongst the hustle and bustle. Staff are really nice too and the music is awesome.
K. S. N.
Nice, quiet, clean, friendly.
s. b.
Excellent food, nice pint and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately toilets were outside due to work being carried out at the time. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars.
N. T.
An excellent traditional pub - proper ale selection, simple but decent food menu, sports screen, pool table. The furnishings are traditional in style and comfortable. Good friendly atmosphere.
S. V.
Sadly we pop in when there was no tap lagers, but overall it is a nice place
J.
Great pub! I was there for the free Sunday Soul 3pm til 9pm to round off the weekend. Very enjoyable drinks reasonable, good food
G. U.
What a funny little pub. Definatly a more mature bunch of people here. The Pool table was very popular and although there was music it was not so loud that you couldn't talk. TV's constantly play football etc. Shame it is on such an awful street.
B.
I was there for a meeting up stairs. Everyone was friendly and parking is just around the corner at Dover Street. I had a nice mug of tea for just a pound and the landlord was very welcoming.
B. R.
Not your yuppie place but relaxed place with friendly staff and coffee for only £1 ............far better value than, say, Starbucks etc.......plus a bit more character. Great place for waiting for a train.
C. S.
a cheerfully quaint pub with a reasonable menu if you like plain, simple food in the '70s style. Bar staff left the tea bag in the mug, though, despite adding the milk and sugar themselves meaning there wasn't anything readily available for taking it out.
B. P.
Had a quiet drink here glad the sound was off on all the tv's the cask ale was really good and the right temperature for ale will visit again when in the area
K. L.
The customer service is fantastic. I wanted to listen to something on the TV. I spoke to Neilie at the bar. Straightaway she turned the music down and TV up no question asked. That is A☆ customer service. Tha I you so much Nealie x

D. P.
Great pub for sports events. Pool table, plenty of space and loads of good local beers to choose from. Lovely staff.
D. D.
We went to a soul and Motown night on the 30th june 2018 .tickets was £4.00 .was not a bad night .but to be fair there it was mainly soul music .i think it should be half soul and half Motown. Only really heard 2 songs i liked. Dont know if im going again .but yes to the half time orange burnmoor st leicester.
N. L.

Excellent location for post-match pint before curry. Good range of beers. Keenly priced.
J. L.
Old fashioned boozer selling Everards ales, comfy and prices are not too bad, but far too many TV screens for my tastes
A. W.
Lovely atmosphere old pub type
Food good although slightly pricey
L. S.
It's ok. Beer is good but definitely a football type of place.
C. S.
