We ordered food for a takeaway collection. They have children's menu, and I was impressed with the choices available for vegetarians, food was packaged appropriately and still warm when we brought it home. They forget to give us sauces that were stated on the menu, but other than that we were happy with our food and service.

Located on a busy main road, there is parking at the rear - take care when turning from the main road as cars travel fast! Menu not too bad but for a non meat eater, choices were a bit limited - menu available on line. Service was good and the food well cooked

Ate here twice recently. Sunday Roast was plentiful and good value. Also had a family night out choosing from the pub menu. Again all dishes were delightful and the waiter service was excellent. Well worth a visit.

As not from the area, I asked work colleague's where to eat, this place was recommended. Well i must say they chose well. Firstly a friendly greeting, as I've not pre booked, a table was found for me. Food I had was outstanding, full of flavour and texture and was presented beautifully. Service during and after was professional and welcoming. Highly recommend for a place to eat.

Went there for a birthday meal, my main course was really good, but the major let down was the pudding. Described as a Biscoff Sundae and didn't get any taste of it till the last few crumbs at the end. Also it was very hot inside. The service was a bit hit and miss as we had to constantly ask for extra cutlery, fully understand that there was 20+ of us and felt that the main person looking after us, did really well. I would prefer to try this place again at a quieter time.

Had a meal last night at The Dovecote, decided to sit upstairs for a change. Less children, no offence. Had posh pigs with bubble and squeak mash ( basically fancier bangers and mash). Now I was expecting the bubble and squeak mash to have , well some greens maybe but instead it just had onions in, maybe it should be listed as onion mash. All tasty just not what I expected from the description.

Very nice ppl lace , good food well cooked and a conscientious and knowledgeable waiter . Toilets are clean , masks on the patrons not that evident , still , as long as I take precautions should I worry about them . Great birthday celebration. Give it a go wear your best teeth.

We have just been for Sunday lunch the table was booked for 3pm but sadly we were still waiting for our food at 3.50 even though we had pre ordered! However when the food eventually turned up we have to say it was very nice! Just put a bit of a damper having to wait so long!

Queing for carvery is ridiculous. After you get your food you have to force your way back to the other end for gravy etc. Needs re organising. Food ok but not warm enough. Needs microwave to zap it. Staff very good but struggling. Won't be going back.

The dovecote is a nice family friendly dining pub food is excellent with a good variety on the menu staff are friendly & efficient it also has a good range of beers . But if you go in the colder months prepare to sit and freeze we as others sat to eat our meal with our over coats on don't think we will go back until the weather warms up.

Really nice place, food is great. But. If you are a vegitarian they do have lots of choices however most of them have th!s isn't chicken as a replacement. Thats the only reason i gave it 4 stars. First date night out in a very long time and so glad we spent it here! Calamari was a bit rubbery and the garlic Mayo would have been better if it was homemade alioli but hey were not in Spain!. The steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was to die for! New York chicken was cooked perfectly not greasy at all. The staff were very attentive especially Ethan! Although it was extremely busy, peak time on a Sunday, we had a very enjoyable visit. Our waitress, Megan was absolutely first class and the food was superb. We did decide not to do carvery, it looked very nice, but it's situated right near the front door. Very chaotic in a small area. Despite the number of people, the place appeared clean and inviting. Would definitely advise booking for a Sunday! Will definitely return soon!

Nice enough pub and location. The food is fantastic, although I cannot speak for the carvery as I am not a carvery person. However it did look good. When the service is good it is a great place to go. However the service is the one thing that let's this down hugely. We kept a track of it for the past ten times and so far i would rate the service as near diabolical at 40% of the time. With the last time having to wait 30 minutes just to get s drink and a further 25 minutes before we had to ask if we were invisible. Needless to say that is the last time for us. If you enjoy the suspense of Russian roulette this is most definitely the place for you.

We had a lovely lunch there today as family and friends for a birthday meal and it was delicious. The carvery was great, the main menu was too, especially the chicken tikka skewers and great choice of desserts. Fab children's menu and lovely helpful staff. Lovely inside too and nice choice of gins. Bouncy castle normally up in the garden for the kids but not today as grey weather. Will be going back to try more tasty options on the menu. Only thing stopping it from having 5 stars is that pricey for a child to eat and main, a dessert and drink as no combined offer deal.

The Dovecote had a really nice homely feel to it, old mixed with new. Everything was well presented from the staff, the tables and the food. Prices were good for what we received, mostly happy faces all around.id give this place a 4.5 if I could. My only issue was my nachos were lacking salsa, I had a lot of guacamole and sour cream which was nice, but only a spoonful of salsa.

Have had several takeaway Sunday Roasts from the Dovecote during lockdown and they have all been FANTASTIC! The food is delicious and they even pack you sauces and gravy. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Well done Dovecote!!

Turned up without a booking on a Sunday evening, although we were too late for the carvery the lovely young gentleman who was carving asked us if we would like a roast dinner, he kept the carvery open for us. The food was lovely, well cooked and generous portions. Staff very friendly too.

Overall A good dinner but a few things could be improved. My friend ordered a sauce, and they brought our food and instead of him I got the sauce which I thought comes normally with a steak so I tried it but then the waitress brought his plate worth no sauce and he asked for it and was told that the sauce is on my plate but he wanted a new one and waitress said she will bring it straight away. In the next 10 minutes other waiter shown up and my friend had to ask for the sauce again but finally got it. My steak was meant to be medium well but I got a bit dry well done instead. We had to go to the bar to pay because nobody shown up for about 20 minutes after we finished our desserts. Those were the only issues i had, steak still was very tasty and the staff is very polite. I highly recommend this place and overall i was happy with the dinner.

When we first arrived for our meal at the Dovecoat tonight, my 9 year old daughter was in a diabetic hypo (meaning she needed sugar and fast to bring her blood glucose levels back in range). Kayleigh, our waitress, was very quick to act and immediately brought a full sugar coke for my daughter. She even came back slightly later and double checked if my daughter was OK. When paying, I had noticed they hadn't put the coke onto the bill, thank you!! The food was amazing, service was speedy and it made the evening a very pleasant night. Thank you, keep up the hard work!!

Went to the Dovecote for Sunday lunch and we all decided on the Carvery. Reasonable price for a lovely meal, although I would of liked a bit more Turkey on my plate, as I only chose the one meat. I did fill up on the good stuff tho (veg).

Today we held a charity lunch for 50 ladies at The Dovecote and the food and service were both exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, who were all friendly, smiley and polite despite having to serve 50 hungry and noisy ladies! We all had a fantastic time and really hope that they will have us back again next year!

Went for a Sunday carvey and the meat was nice but the veg and potatoes were horrible, the potatoes were very over cooked and you couldn’t even bite them they were that hard, i told the waiter and he apologised but that was it, he was nice but it felt like I should of just walked in paid them some money and walked out without anything to show for it. If the vegetables and potatoes were nice then you would of got a 5 star or gave is a complementary drink for the poor food could of helped.

The menu is quite good with a variety of choice between typical pub food to venison which is enjoyable. Small vegetarian menu But still better than nothing. Service can be quite slow and needs prompting at times. But all in all not a bad place to go.

A really nice early post lockdown experience. Cautious in going to a pub for the first time for food and drink it helped that the weather was nice and we could sit outside. Busy-ish but no flagrant disregard for social distancing. Staff very friendly and polite (also seen sanitizing). Plenty of young people (mainly outside) enjoying themselves without any inappropriate and drunken behaviour. A model of what I hoped coming out of lockdown would be like. A testament to the customers as well as the staff!

Very nice, nice lay out and fire gives it a warm welcoming feeling. Staff are always friendly and happy to help. Meals are of a good quality and can usually be altered to suit dietary requirements or if just fussy. Access is easily made but there are a few stairs if seating on lowest level is full. Decent cup of coffee can be had aswell. They often run out of crayons for the kids to use on the menus but last time the manager got my kids a couple of biro pens and some blank paper to draw on so they were happy enough.

This newly refurbished establishment has a lovely atmosphere and is well laid out on different levels. It has a good menu suitable for all levels of the family at a reasonable cost. That's a good range of ales lager and wines again reasonably priced. I will use it again.

Great menu with lots of dishes to suit everyone including gluten free,vegan, vegetarian as well as the standard dishes such as steaks,fish and homemade pizzas too! Place has a great atmosphere, has plenty of staff for good table service and is nicely decorated inside.food is nicely presented but the portion sizes are a little on the small side so go for a starter/pudding or both of your wallet will stretch that far.

The food was pretty good, the service was suitably attentive and the prices weren't too high. I tried the lamb and chickpea salad from the special menu (nice but not something I'd order again), whilst other members of our party tried the New York chicken, the chicken forestiere and the stake and ale pie. The pie gets a special mention because it was huge but delicious. It has shortcrust pastry and really rich filling. If that's your thing, definitely consider it. The only slight downside was that it wasn't particularly clean by the time we arrived at 8pm and there was visible dropped food on the floor and the table was a bit messy. For higher-end pub food I was fairly impressed and the time it took the food to come out shows that it's being prepared fresh. I'd definitely consider it for a second visit.

Had one bad experience where chips werent cooked and my partners burger was covered in a bbq sauce that wasnt on the menu (she hates bbq sauce).
