Reviews of The Globe - Pub & Kitchen
E. B.
Found this on the off chance, while looking for somewhere to have meal.
I wasn't disappointed, the food was fantastic, all local produce and freshly cooked, the portions were just the right.
The belly pork was so soft and melted in your mouth, brandy and Stilton mushrooms, were lush and the strawberry and prosecco cheesecake was so light and fluffy.
Lovely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, especially the lady who we believed was the landlady.
I can't recommend this place highly enough, you need to visit.
H. C.
Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and delicious food!
Fantastic range of Vegan items also, including dessert and a great drink selection!
A lovely gentleman was working upstaira last night (20/11/21) - so sorry, we didn't catch your name!
He had a few other servers working with him, but on some occasions was working single handedly behind the bar, taking orders, serving drinks AND serving food and was so lovely, informative and friendly throughout our visit!
Thanks so much for giving us a great dining experience!
D. G.
Fab little old style bar in Central Leicester. Parking is nearby is John Lewis car park. The staff are friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere in the pub.
A. S.
Good selection of well-kept cask ales. Good food. Handy for the shopping centre, cathedral and Richard III museum
J. L.
Great welcome from staff who seem genuinely interested in talking to you and getting to know their customers.
The place was clean and warm, well organised and with plenty of both space and character.
It is reasonably prices and the selection of draft beers is great and changes regularly.
D. M.
I don't often go to The Globe, but the times I have I've always had a great experience. Lovely staff, great drink choice and enjoyable atmosphere overall. Definitely recommend and look forward to my next visit for a nice cold pint of Longhorn
J. S.
Impressed with the selection of cask ales as well as accepting a discount for CAMRA members.
C. M.
We called in at lunchtime and had a great meal ,we even had a pudding ! The staff were all polite and the beer was kept well. It is a real shame that Tiger is not brewed in Leicester anymore as it does taste different . Can't wait to go shopping again in Leicester 😉
O. B.
Bit pricey but friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Appreciate that they lean into it being the oldest pub in Leicester. I caught covid here
d. s.
Great pub, good selection of beers, nice staff
w. t.
The best place for a drink. Nice choice of ales. Love to sit out n enjoy my drink.
H. J.
My local when I'm in town. Love the snug and the den and the atmosphere. The food is very good too. A pub full of history. Lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by.
C. G.
A decent place, with well-mannered employees and a pleasant service, pleasant atmosphere in a retro area that many lovers can enjoy and relax. Decent prices.
S. L.
Had a drink there with my friend at lunch time. It was quite busy, but tables were spaced out which was good. We found a table by the Christmas tree and were able to have a drink and conversation without feeling we were on top of other customers. Very pleasant. Would recommend.
B. J.
Great selection of beers and spirits, and the food is excellent. All reasonably priced too so a definite thumbs up from me!
M. f.
The pub interior was really nice, beer selection wasn't great though, nothing overly interesting (in reality I would give 3.5 but I can't)
K. W.
Used to drink here a lot in the 1970's. It was Camra Pub Of The Year 1977. The first Everards Pub to sell all beers as Real Ale. Don't go now as it is card payment only. So narrow minded.
D. S.
Love going in here. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. A fair range of drinks with changing selection of ales. Haven't eaten here in terms of cooked food but a good range of nibbles on offer, crisps, nuts and the like. Generally a good pub to go to.
A. M.
What an amazing pub, great staff especially Esme and Emma. Centrally located. Great beer and food
G. G.
Nice pub, friendly staff, located in the middle of the town centre. Nicely kept Everards, it would be nice if they had more guest beers for a bit more variety. We did go to see the gas lights but they were turned off and it was all electric.
T. D.
Great pub, good choice of beers and food was really good. Will be back again
G. M.
Great pub wonderful selection of draft beers lagers and ciders ,Great atmosphere and staff very very friendly and helpful
K. P.
Great pub, great food. Fantastic home pies and good selection of real ales.
M. E.
Great place great show. @MissDComedy when I was there but there's always something going on. Good food reasonably priced alcohol.
C. Z.
Staff are very nice. Good selection of beers and food is amazing
C. A.
Great pub, always get chatting to great friendly characters, which you don't seem able to in other pubs.
B. F.
Great beer as usual, the food left a lot to be desired on this visit.
M. G.
Loved it! Friendly staff, great food, will definately go again
A. H.
Lovely pub with friendly helpful staff. We were revisiting the pub as my friend used to go the Leicester uni and would frequent this bar often. Nice and clean with room around the other side if the bar. Food served daily but service finished at 7.
T. W.
Good beer and homemade food the pies were lovely friendly staff too
R. M.
Decent beers and good staff. Good function room.
L. C.
We went to the Globe on a Sunday lunch time. The pub was busy but very well laid out so that it was easy to keep a distance from other diners. The food was delicious. My 12 Yr old wanted the hunters chicken which is only available on the adults menu but he didn't feel very hungry. They were very accommodating and made a smaller portion of the hunters chicken which we found impressive. The service was attentive without being intrusive and we would happily go back to the Globe.
V. A.
DOG FRIENDLY PUB in the heart of Leicester by the Lanes. Great selection of beers and welcoming dogs 👌
a. b.
nice pub! loads of history. nice beer
B. F.
One of my two favourite pubs in Leicester. The Globe takes the cake for tradition. It's the oldest continuously operating pub in Leicester, and it has the wood panelling and candlelight to show for it. The Globe serves all the local ales and has outdoor seating in the Leicester's charming lanes in the shadow of the cathedral. The menu combines traditional pub grub with international cuisine as befits Leicester. Prices are more than fair, especially considering its location
D. R.
Great pub ,shame on how deer drink prices are ,and you only can pay by card ,they don't expect cash
A. M.
A fantastic place to go for a drink. The staff were brilliant and very friendly and the food was first class, would highly recommend this charming pub. (Its a lot bigger on the inside)...
R. “. H.
Food absolutely gorgeous, and service was amazing tried to order via app as per QR code on table but wasn't showing breakfast items the waitress was straight on it and took out order straight away. Very polite and friendly staff and very welcoming place. Would definitely visit again if I ever return to Leicester.
D. S.
Proper old pub great staff and great choice of beer
K. B.
Tasty food, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere . No hesitation in recommending.
A. M.
Typical pub with nice ambiance and food. Good place to be with friends. Tasty chicken pie
P. T.
Great traditional pub. Possibly the best in Leicester. Good beer too.
A. G.
Very nice and old pub in Leicester city centre. You can choose a lot of good beers.
B. D.
Good pub, good beers, & good atmosphere.
D. N.
One of my personal favourite pubs, proper old school boozer feel.
K. P.
Great pub, great beer, but a bit pricey
K. S.
This is a cracking pub. We'll worth a visit everytime I'm in the area.
M. L.
Friendly city centre pub, staff very pleasant and very good food.
J. F.
Great cosy pub with good choice of drinks
B.
We had a lovely meal and the staff were amazing. Certainly going again.
D. W.
Lovely city centre pub. Great pint of Tiger. Staff were excellent, very efficient and friendly.
D. P. (.
It really was the most pleasant Breakfast experience on a sleepy Sunday morning, sitting in the sunshine with the Cathedral bells a couple of streets over ringing. Pleasant, timely courteous service - Coffee was fantastic and the Breakfast was scrumptious, although the 'Gut buster' wasnt really gut-busting in my opinion, it was enough and superb quality. Both myself & my partner were completely satisfied & commented we will be returning.
J. S.
Nice pub in the heart of Old Leicester. Good atmosphere and selection of beers.
C. S.
Steeped in history. A must if you like ghosts. Unsure on their beer selection though, think that's where it could be improved. Overall though I would recommend. I even had a pint here alone which my friends were unaware of. Badass.
J. F.
Good real ales and food. Check prices as not what you think from chalkboard adverts. Still not very expensive overall for a city centre pub.
G. S.
Great pub good range of ales and lagers
D. H.
Quite a nice pub (despite covid restrictions)
A wide range of drinks, with the ability to order via table service or an app.
From what I've seen, the food menu has been slightly condensed, but was still nice.
Very friendly staff.
l. c.
Nice beer brilliant place just to sit and people watch enjoying your pint obviously!!!
T. W.
Good food and friendly staff would recommend
m. p.
Always a lovely welcome from the staff. No complaints about the food or drink. Keep up the good work.
D. U.
Great place been going for 25 years. Stool great.
J. J. D.
Great staff. Food was really nice
S. B.
Great team of women running this pub with great food and good range of well kept ales.
J. B.
Great beer and very nice staff
B. M.
Very pleasant pub. Good selction of ales.
R. S.
In there on a Saturday before a football match.
Nice selection of beers, helpful staff, lots of little quirky rooms to sit.
Sat outside in the sun on this occasion
F. C.
We have been for Sunday lunch today, and as usual, The Best Roast Pork in the County, Well worth a visit, Staff, food and restaurant Absolutely FANTASTIC
t. m.
Really like this pub but my daughter said it smelled like old people mingled with swimming baths.
L. N.
Great food and beer, would definitely recommend the fish & chips or the sausages! Staff are kind and the place has a great atmosphere
R. J. C.
Perfect spot for life nch with variety of foods and beers. Every weekday has a special offer so one can pick what likes.
K. J.
Really friendly staff, a good selection of beers and excellent food. And the pie was a proper pie, not stew with a slice of pastry on top.
w. c.
Nice traditional city centre tavern. Unspoiled.
K. G.
Lovely beer, really nice vegan food, lovely chilled traditional pub and Eric the whippet is also welcome!
s. f.
The atmosphere and the lay out of the pub was excellent. The dealing with the restrictions of covid you had to wear a mask until seated. On entry you had to sign in and taken to a table had good waitress service. The only downside was a couple who was exempt from wearing a mask who kept walking around going for a cigarette several times, just spoilt the evening words had to be said, then the bar staff dealt with it as it was clearly obvious the couple was drunk.
L. R.
Very good friendly attentive service.
Pleased to find somewhere that doesn't rely on QR code which not all of us have the device to do. Each persons details taken, everything cleaned between customers. Felt safe.
A. P.
This pub is one of the oldest places in the city of Leicester; in fact in 2020, which is not so far away, celebrates 300 years of uninterrupted activity This rooms furnished in victorian style ,very nice in my opinion, and in the evening, the soft light frames the whole room. Good offerings to customers and the prices (not always moderate) applied to dishes, are not, however, more expensive of those applied by others restaurants in the city. The beers that can be tasted in this pub are various and famous brands and therefore they know how to accompany well all the dishes that are cooked in this place;the staff who work there,is very helpful ,with customers and competent. To conclude this review if mine,I can strongly recommend it to that type of tourist who,in his travels, always goes in search of the typical dishes of the area....and here, he will not be disappointed.
C.
Never tried the food but folk I was with said it was was good value for money, they would buy again.
Down side is that the beer is on the expensive side and quality on one beer taken was a bit iffy. As the price of beers differed it would have been useful if the pub had their pricing regime on a board. A bit odd paying different prices for two beers of the same strength.
m. m.
I met my friends there for a drink they had a meal and said it was delicious
J. S.
Nice place but the beer prices are expensive!!
E. W.
Good, welcoming & friendly pub.
T. M. -. Y.
I can only rate the service and the guiness. Friendly and polite staff, table service, you don't have to use an annoying QR code & they have a one way system. They have a good guinness :)
B. E.
There are too few people in this wonderful old Inn. It's the oldest Pub in Leicester, fully restored without losing its old fashioned charm. The food is great, reasonably priced, and a good selection of beers as well. We are regulars there now.
S. B.
Great pub, real ales, good atmosphere
C. W.
All the staff are super friendly here. They have a great selection of traditional pub food, as well as weekly specials. There are also weekly food and drink deals as well as their new monthly events (vinyl night, cheese night). They have recently started a weekly pub quiz on Wednesday night's. The quiz is more challenging than you'd expect but personally I much prefer that! They have a great selection of drinks, with the house ales and regularly changing hues ales and ciders. You'll always find something to tickle your fancy.
L. 8.
Good drinks but was far too busy inside not many places to sit.
S. C.
Really cosy traditional pub with comedy shows upstairs, really enjoyed the experience
E. A.
Good location, good atmosphere... Shame customers leave the loo's in a sorry state
C. L.
Best pub in the city centre in my opinion. Good selection of beers. Good food menu. Covid precautions in place. Discreet screens between tables. Recommended
v. w.
Managed to get in on Saturday night. Good old style pub. Drinks app worked OK. Social distancing measures in place.
J. P.
This pub is a Leicester institution! Sadly the gas lamps are now gone, but you can still sit in the Victorian snug. There are guest ales as well as the more familiar Everard's Tiger. Friendly, relaxed, alternative atmosphere.
J. W.
The best pub in Leicester in my opinion and it's also mentioned in the Lonely Planet guide to England. There were at least 10 ales on the last time I was there in March after the Fulham game and I tried two of them. I must spend longer in Leicester! The food was fine and I was happy about the prices. This pub is close to the Richard III Centre and the cathedral.
C. B.
Lovely lunch as always. Great little pub. Family favourite ❤ for eating out. 😋
D. R.
Great pub. Very cosy ,beer very well kept had a meal there one night lovely service and food delicious. Went to Leicester for 3 night pre Christmas break and this was our favourite pub . Visited every day.
N. F.
Friendly service and the beef burrito was a tasty feast. Just a shame that there was no Old Original, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
I. W.
Drank in The Globe since I was old enough to drink! Lots of history and has always had a great atmosphere and an eclectic mix of customers. Great city centre location and good choice of beers but let down by being a bit on the pricey side which is sailing a bit close to the wind with a Wetherspoons pub being so close by on the High Street.
A. T.
If I ever go to a pub in Leicester it's this one. It has a friendly atmosphere with nice staff. You can dine in or just drop in for drink. The menu is different and varied and there are guest beers, ales, ciders and more for a great choice. The facilities are clean and tidy and throughout. There is spacious inside seating as well as outside seating. It's Leicester's oldest pub with a lot of history.
For those who can sense the paranormal may experience the resident ghosts.
D. J.
Good beer, friendly staff
M. S.
I think this is one of my favourite pubs in central Leicester. *Very* well kept ales, tasty food (I'm a veggie but others with me ate meat), and friendly staff. The tiling on the floor is lovely, and I like the old-style filament bulbs that give things an intimate glow. It's a great little place; come!
M. B.
Great food, good service and excellent beer. What's not to like? The portions were a little bit small for the price. Overall I'd recommend this place but, if you're really hungry, you might want to consider somewhere else.
p. a.
Great food and great pub. Very friendly staff, me and my wife had a brilliant night. Highly recommend this pub to anyone.
a. g.
Amazing food and lovely staff
N. H.
An amazingly homely pub in the Leicester city center. With a large, tasty range of local real ales and also some craft beers. With the log burner going on a winter night and some bar games its a great little place for a relaxing drink.
Z.
Busy on a matchday, as usual, lovely and affordable food, very friendly staff. Quick and smooth service.
B. S.
Good beer and fantastic food.
Try it
S. M.
Great "oldest pub in Leicester". The night we visited was Vinyl night. Some crazy old tunes but a good night all the same. Good meal too and friendly staff.
w.
Wonderful pub with such a cosy atmosphere - very accommodating to all including our little dog!! Very kind staff and great food for vegetarians!
D. J.
One of the better pubs in Leicester. Decent beer and food 👍
C. S.
Superb inner-city pub that's been around for (nearly) ever. Great selection of beers / ciders and wonderful home-cooked food in a great atmosphere. Cannot be recommended more highly as somewhere for a pub lunch when visiting Leicester.
M. C.
Great food, staff really friendly
C. C.
A lovely pub with many nooks and crannies to nestle up with a book or a crossword and a quiet, delicious pint of real ale. The staff are kind and friendly, and have done a great job of maintaining some of the loveliest features of this gorgeous c18th establishment.
H. Y.
I stumbled upon the place on the exploration of the town centre. A very welcoming place with a good space bar across two areas what allows to avoid the crowds and waiting. Attentive barman and excellent selection of ales :)
S. C.
that was the best christmas dinner ive had in any restaraunt. it was spot on. great value. clearly fresh. ive eaten at some expensive places in recent years but this was clearly the best christmas dinner of all. atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. the place was cosy and nicely decorated and the staff were just superb. x
D. C.
Lovely traditional pub. Cosy atmosphere, well cooked heartwarming food and a good selection of drinks behind the bar. Prices are fairly reasonable, definitely worth a visit for lunch, dinner and late drinks.
B. B.
Good food and good beer, couldn't ask for more.
A.
Subtle screens for covid in between tables, as well as the seating being spaced out more than enough. Had a great burger here which was fab value!
B.
Fed up of weatherspoon clone pubs, try the Globe for a change of pace. Friendly and accommodating staff, you want mash instead of chips no problem. And the beer is great too.
s. N.
Just had drinks , friendly staff served quickly
R. G.
Been a few times. Sometimes the food is great but the last visit it took 40 minutes to arrive after ordering and was cold. Lovely cosy atmosphere though.
j. s.
Lovely friendly warm atmosphere, firm favourite..
C. Y.
Great place to spend quality time with quality friends.
s. J.
Lovely staff. Busy vibe.
J. L.
Excellent food lively staff
P. E.
Great food and really clean place..
R. W.
Decent and cosy little boozer. The burger menu is substantial, which is appreciated (you can’t beat a burger for pub-grub). The ‘Mexicana’ burger ticked the Friday night pub crawl pitstop box, washed down nicely with a few pints of the locally brewed ‘Tiger’. Did the business, without fuss.
J.
Love this pub if you like a quite meal..friendly staff..nice surroundings..good for a quick pint or an evening meal..food very good and staff very accomodating if you have special occasions.
r. d.
Grear olds world inn with warm friendly staff. Great beers and a good menu of old fashioned English pub favourites. Ideal for a beer whilst your partner does the shopping etc.
H. S.
The globe is a amazing old fashioned looking pub, great for first dates, I love the lighting, decor and choice of drinks they do, I have had good memories here already! ❤

D. B.
Lovely staff, cosy vibe and good snacks!
K. M.
We went there on a Thursday and all 6 of us had a lovely meal, slightly pricey for a pub, but good. It is also the oldest pub in leicester, and also good for a drink with friends.
T. B.
Good pub nice beer friendly service
L. “. C.
Great pub and a good choice of real ale but the best thing was the beer mats. My partner saves them and there are not many pubs that do beer mats anymore.
P. C.
We had scampi and chips and fish and chips it was delicious. There was a good atmosphere, and the bar staff bought drinks to the table and we had great service. Would recommend this pub
M. W.
What an awesome pub! Part of Leicester for a long time, fabulous ales, a ridiculous choice of lovely pork scratchings, some sport on big screen upstairs, what's not to like!!
m. p.
Great beer and atmosphere
S. S.
Nice place but just be aware it is payment by card only.
A. “. T.
Good pub, good beer and a very cozy atmosphere. Lacks a little in its prices, food and it feels like a nice generic pub.
m.
Amazing atmosphere

S. W.
Went for Sunday lunch......superb food and service..... highly recommended.
G. W.
One of Leicester's finest.
L. S.
Great pub, lovely selection of ales, decent food and very friendly, very capable staff! A treat every time we visit it!
E. A.
Food was ok but a bit pricey. Not tried any drinks so nothing to say there. Service was a bit slow as after 40 minutes I eventually went to order our food at the bar. Otherwise ok I think.
T. B.
Great staff, serg and the rest of the staff are friendly and know what they stock, which is generally great beer, food is also spot on and it is a cozy pub, can be cramped at times though.
T. M.
Great selection of beer, friendly staff and a nice proper old boozer where we caught up with friends, chatted and had a giggle till closing time without jostling for the bar.
M. R.
Very nice food, although is a pie a pie when there is just a layer of pastry of top of a stew? Pretty pub inside with lots of seperate snugs.
J. G.
Good food at a fair price. Staff always pleasant. Nice pint of tiger.
M. R.
Brilliant that you have continued to trade despite the malicious lies regarding customers from the armed forces. I simply cannot believe the imbeciles who have left negative, incorrect, abusive and threatening reviews on here. Do some research before you start spouting lies. You only end up hurting innocent people, businesses and embarrass yourself in the process.
J. M.
Great pub. Staff always go above and beyond.
F. C.
Wide selection of beers and I like the atmosphere of this place.
m. k.
Nice pub but prices have gone up
S. G.

R. M.
Wonderful place to go , my new local. Staff are so friendly
K. M.
Great food served by very friendly staff in a cozy environment. I highly recommend this place for food and drinks.
I. D.
£10 for a Crayfish Salad. Some leaves, a couple of cherry tomatoes, Melba Toast that was a single slice of supermarket bought sliced white bread with the crusts cut off, crayfish tails and enough salad dressing for the crayfish to swim in. The dressing overwhelmed any other flavour and to charge a tenner is an insult to the diner
N. G.
The Globe is one of the oldest pubs in the city of Leicester and next year celebrates 300 years as a pub. According to local history Corah's, one of the oldest hosiery firms was established here.
P. M.
Always come here for a beer when catching up with friends, good place to chat and have a decent pint, always say we'll have a pint here and normally have a lot more so must be good.
C. G.
Staff were great and the food was lovely. Good value too!!
The Snug is great for a cozy function.
J. C.
Great Pub! Has outside sitting during spring / summer. Good service and experience.
J. P.
Lovely cosy traditional pub in the heart of the lanes in Leicester. Great range of ales and snacks.
R. W.
Great food and very welcoming staff.
D. P.
Best Boozer in town.
P. “. B. M.
Never been to this place, although I have heard about the false claims made against this business. I give them 5 stars for the way in which they have handled this incident. Everyone that is putting this business down due to some article on the internet should slap themselves in the face for being so gullible. If you are that appalled at these claims, phone the place in question yourself and question this policy rather than shouting abuse.
M. S.
Lovely environment, got charged £4.90 for a pint that would have been £2.99 down the road at Wetherspoons. Your choice.
G. C.
Great traditional, friendly pub!
S. 1.
Lovely Everards pub with a good menu and well kept ales. Great spot for lunch
