Reviews of The Parcel Yard
N. S.
Visited for a lunchtime meal. From the outside it looks like a small bar but once inside it opens up and is large and spacious. Bottle lights, well presented bar. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Food was really tasty, had a burger which came with fries, coleslaw and salad. Has toilets which were clean.
T. B.
Lovely styled pub, nice booths, great selection of drinks, menu looked delicious, darts & shuffleboard a great distraction. Nice touch with an arrivals and departures board for Leicester station. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
B. C.
Great little pub, far better than I was expecting considering the location! Bar staff were lovely, beer and food were both great, and it felt clean and safe. Fab!
A. H.
This pub is literally outside the train station. The front looks like a small coffee shop but believe it it’s huge inside and amazing. You need to walk down a set of stairs to the bar area which, has numerous beers on offer. They had interactive darts which, was great. There was another game which you had to slide the weights down. The young gentleman who ran the pub explained how they look after the table and how the game was played. It was £5 for 30 mins. A really good interactive game. There were about four different areas to sit in if you wanted to with either sofas, table and chairs or booths. The pub was very clean. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Really wish we had gone in this pub when we first arrived in Leicester. Definitely a pub to visit.
K. L.
Great pub great range of beers large and interesting range of Spirits and good food. Held a CAMRA meeting here and they were very helpful and obliging even gave a free buffet. Would certainly recommend a visit and will definitely be going back myself. Interesting and quirky decor
P. R.
Excellent pub next door to railway station. Billy bitter house bitter Top Draw. Highly Recommended
P. C.
Nice friendly place.... Barmaid was very helpful & polite...
( And very good looking, and knew how to control groups of blokes...
C. G.
I love the place had a great new year's evethere a few years back.I believe it is being demolished to allow the railway entrance on Station Street to be returned to its previous location.
P. F.
Decent beer and coffee while waiting for your train but men's toilets had no paper in one cubicle and no liquid soap in any dispenser. Further staff training needed....
C. P.
Very decent selection of drinks on tap and in bottle here
Toilets left a little for desire, but served a purposes. Possibly more regular cleaning needed.
Staff were friendly despite it being a pre Christmas drinking evening for most in there.
J. J.
Tigers match day so plenty of people around. Friendly atmosphere and great food. Staff helpful and although busy service was quick.
M. W.
Parcel Yard is a nice venue with a good ambience. The prices are decent, with a good amount of seating. Right next to the train station, it's good to pop in after a journey, or if you've got time to kill before getting the train.
S. B.
We called in whilst waiting for a train early Saturday evening, 45mins we had to spare. I would say it wasn't overly busy and the woman on the door was very welcoming and pleasant, but bloody Nora! I don't think the bar staff could have moved any slower. Definitely think twice about calling in when on a time restriction again.
L. L.
I went here originally because it was a dog friendly place to eat and may I say I am glad I did!! The food was amazing and brilliantly presented as well, service was fantastic too! I will admit there was an issue with desert as I originally ordered the sticky toffee pudding with custard and it arrived with ice cream instead so we told the staff and they brought some out then I went to eat it and the actual pudding was almost solid however I told the staff this and they were happy to swap it for something else so I had the waffles instead and they were amazing wish I had room for seconds! All in all a good experience had to give 4 stars due to the desert issue but otherwise PERFECT!!! 😊
S. M.
Excellent, so glad it's open again, great atmosphere, quick service.
E. S.
Friendly staff, good food and great company. Lovely afternoon.
S. L.
Met a friend there at lunchtime. At 1:10 she asked to see the menu, but was told some one would be with her at 1:30 with a menu. She waited patiently, but no one came. We were only there during our lunch break so time was of the essence. She ended up calling into Tesco for a sandwich on the way back to the office. Not good. In the past I have always been happy with The Parcel Yard, hence 3 stars, so hoping this was a one off.
R. B.
Fantastic bar staff..very fast service even when crowded..Top marks👍
N. G.
Only in here for a quick before train! Decent selection of beers...the toilet has a key code! Had a Tiny Rebel Stay Puft from a can.
Since been again for longer & they now have more IPA's & stouts on tap...not cheap!...but very nice!!
M.
Nice place, plenty of space, good choice of drinks and nice staff.
C. R.
Good and clean, next to the train station, so ideal!
It also shows, times and platforms of train departures, brilliant.
R. L.
Good pub, nice inside and great if you are waiting on the train!
L. M.
Lovely place foods really nice nice bar staff polite we are coming again as my brother visits from Northampton he likes meet there.
V. D.
This place is situated, right next to "#LEICESTER RAILWAY STATION". From Initial views from the outside, it looks very small however, the place is fairly big, once you go further inside. Very handily situated, if you've a while to wait for a train. It is clean, &, tidy but, could do with a bit of refurbishment, at the main entrance, to make it look more appealing, &, encourage more customers to go in, as it always look really quiet, &, as it was when i've been in their.
D. W.
It's nice, pub good selection of drink staff were a bit rude
T. C.
A busy pub next to station. Good choice of beer. Service was good.
G. S.
Super friendly pub great bar staff and great selection of real ale. Plus CAMRA discount.
Year on and still just as good.
T. K.
Nice quiet place, good selection of beers and cocktails, but closes early.
C. w.
Nice bar next to train station...tables to sit and food in relaxed atmosphere
R. H.
Nice place with a good selection of drinks. Would definitely recommend
R. J.
Visited to meet up with a few friends. Plenty of room (it's like a TARDIS inside). Varied menu but a little expensive. Good Real Ale.
G. S.
Brilliant bar Great range of beers and lagers. Friendly staff.
A. F.
Well, from the outside it looks like a tiny and not at all busy small pub. Enter and you will think you have stepped inside the Tardis, it is much much bigger on the inside. Not a visual treat but very pub-like. Got decent selection of drinks and a decent selection of good honest pub food as well.
I believe that some sections can be cordoned off private functions, too. At over £4 for a pint of Tuborg it may not be cheap but at least I live in the past when you could buy a pint for £2.50 in upmarket pubs.
Worth a visit if you are in Leicester and especially if you have some time to kill before your train.
I. D.
Nice bar good pub games in the rear room.
A. D.
Good pub, good service, nice beers and good darts
S. K.
Great bar to nip in and have a nice cold beer
P. H.
No TVs, no background music or any other distractions - a great place to meet friends and chat. Beers are good too and attentive staff. Perfect!
s. h.
Pub right next to the station in one of the old buildings, outside courtyard with tables. Fairly quiet. Reasoable beer selection and several ciders. Security staff front and back. Large open bar at the front with a more cozy rear seated space.
B.
Been there one time as it really good place.
When I look inside the building and realised this was previous own of Royal Mail Group to use for mail train before Royal Mail relocation other site as this now become pub.
10/10
J. B.
Good ales, decent decor - didnt eat but would go back again
R. M.
I actually really like this place, obviously things are different since Covid-19 restrictions but really nice atmosphere. Please note you can only pay by card or your phone. So be ready for that before you visit. You can order from your table and they bring it to you which is really good. Food menu understandably limited to bar snacks so of you are expecting a meal you might be disappointed. Overall fabulous service. Masks are not required but obviously personal choice.
Y. M.
Such a great pub, conveniently nextdoor to train station, prices are very reasonable, the drink range is quite impressive and service was spot on! Loved it, I'll be back 😁
J. W.
Lovely pub we had a lovely time celebrating our daughters graduation
I. S.
Always a favourite of mine. Super food and huge range of drinks. Staff friendly and lots of seating. Great place all day from breakfast till last orders
A. R.
Great bar great selection of drinks and right next to the train station. Well worth a visit
J. T.

k. b.

Lovely food
Great staff
M. M.
Lots of space. Friendly staff. Good beer selection
B. S.
Lunch visit and I have to say. It's an honest pub that serves a great burger.
t. m.
Nice and quiet, food okay
F. W.
I very lovely place one to avoid on match days if that's not your thing but a great atmosphere when it is a match day. Very friendly polite and helpful staff.
T. W.
Great bar. Don't go on a match day you won't get served.
N. M.
Great bar with an incredible amount of choice as well as a brilliant food menu! Great meeting place as well. Was very welcoming even for a colleague who had small kids with her.
The woman who tended to us for our food order was very helpful and went above and beyond to help us make the right choice for the kids and made us all feel very welcome, not just sell, sell sell.
The staff are great and very welcoming plus, the venue itself is beautiful! Very lavish but still extremely well priced!
I'll be sure to come back as much as I can! Easily one of my favourite places within Leicester City Center!
R. s.
Great food at reasonable prices, friendly staff and great surroundings. What more can you ask for?
R. R.
Great place. Good drinks
C. M.
Absolutely brilliant place for a pint and a laugh with the lads. Location means it's easy to get too, and the staff are lovely
D. C.
Just had morning coffee here, service slow despite 3 staff behind the bar doing unrelated service tasks. However, a pleasant place for a drink and far more interesting than the narrow frontage suggests. Very convenient, being next to Leicester railway station. Staff needs to be more attentive to customers, however, and 4 stars is a generous rating.
V. G.
Nice little find while waiting for our train. Had a Bailey's and hot choc to warm up. Amazing choice of gin! Nice quirky environment, very friendly staff. Will Definitely visit again.
D. N. (.
Great bar, decent pub food, nice atmosphere.
N. J.
Right next door to the railway station this is a large pub with a good selection beers and gins. It was very busy before the rugby game with lots of supporters having a pint on their way to the match. Could have done with some more staff behind the bar as the wait for a drink was considerable. Very good atmosphere and will return.
R. S.
This place is a TARDIS looks tiny outside but really opens up inside. Has a contemporary yet traditional interior and offers shuffleboard
t. c.
Good pub next to station.
D. E.
Great choice of drinks, very friendly helpful staff.
No TV screen as previously mentioned.
A. H.
Wether a Pit stop between trains or a full night out; The Parcel Yard is a great place for a beer (also a stunning burger)
D. H.
Lively bar ideal to start your night. We visited at the beginning of a Saturday night and it got us in the mood while still being sociable enough to chat. Good selection of drinks and very good service from the bar. We have not tied the food, but I hear it is very good.
F. D. U.
Food A.MA.ZZZZING.. not bad price. Cocktails lussssssh.. always clean here nice outside area to.. staff friendly too
K. B.
It's a nice modern bar, staff are a bit rude if your face dont fit but other than that, it's a good bar
r. g.
Been here a couple of times in the last month while waiting for trains and have been super impressed both times! The pub itself is really spacious with lots of seating options (booths and big tables as well as more typical pub tables). They have plug sockets and fast Wi-fi too, which is great when you’ve got work to do and time to kill before a train. Had food both times and it was really good, with quick and friendly service and lots of nice options. All the staff I’ve seen have been great too; friendly and helpful and able to help with any questions. I’m sure that by night it might be a bit more buzzy and busy, but for a daytime pub while you wait for a time, it’s absolutely spot on! Would recommend to anyone in Leicester looking for a nice, chill spot for a drink and some food and phone charge!
M. B.
Lovely pub and female bar staff were efficient and helpful, I really enjoyed the fruity wine coolers however, when served by one of the young male bar staff, my partner was over charged by £4 for our drinks and it wasn't mixed as nice. I think maybe some staff require customer service skills. Other than that it's a great place to pop into
M. D. F.
Very nice pub to be at. Very comfortable and the staff is nothing less than friendly, even if it's 15 minutes before they close and you're a tiny bit drunk. The decor is quite nice and it is a very cosy and nice place to hang out with friends or grab a very quick and somewhat cheap meal.
P. H.
A great selection of ales in beautifully converted venue, a little pricey despite it being a city centre location. Bar staff were a little slow to explain and demonstrate their knowledge of the beers they were selling. Not sure whether this through poor knowledge or slack customer service standards.
C. A.
Lots of drinks and room but usually very slow service, especially when busy, so be prepared for this. Amazing decor and choice of drinks. Lovely young lady clearing up the plates etc offering to take a photo of our group and even kindly got a compliment about my flamingo t-shirt!
P. J.
Typical city centre train station located pub. Looking well used and abused. Decent pint of Steam Billy 👌
D. J.
Good beer, friendly staff
A. S.
Usually have lovely food. Drinks are pricier than other bars in the area. Right next to the train station so good to have a quick drink or something to eat if you don't have a lot of time. Lots of seating. It also has a lot of outdoor seating too.
C. P.
Great out-of-the-city-centre pub/bar. Right next to the train station, is in the old GPO mail sorting building, hence the name (and the architecture is retained which is nice. Good real ale as well as most popular beers/wines etc all at good prices.
V. S.
Absolutely fantastic pub, great food, excellent service, superb atmosphere .
J. S.
Good beers, nice venue.
P. R.
Nice cozy pub next door to train station... Good variety of beer's, spirit's, food and more... Friendly helpful staff and nice decor inside and out, good place to wait for train or meet people, train arrival's and departure's are displayed in corner at bar, which is useful! 👍🙂🙂
A.
Good place for an after work drink as location is great and right next to the station. Good friendly vibe. Drinks however are often warm here as mixers are kept out of the fridges and the glasses are never cold.
G. D. W.
Really cozy place. Close to the station. Friendly service and great atmosphere.
J. G.
We visited the parcel yard for a couple of drinks before heading home in the train. The parcel yard is one of the few city centre bars that let you take your dog in. All the staff were so good with our pup, they brought her water and treats and the security guards kept coming and giving her fuss and belly rubs - thank you all so much for giving us such a great experience. You are Tilly's favourite pub by far!
J. J.
Always a nice place to go, very very ambient, do lovely food, brilliant selection of drinks.....and an up to date train timetable screen at the end of the bar.... brilliant idea..... because...cause you've got time for another before your train arrives 😱😵!!!
B. D.
I’ve been coming to The Parcel Yard for a while now and I can’t speak highly enough of the place- the staff are amazing especially George, Ellen, Kyra and Brooke! The food is amazing and the back bar is the best in Leicester.
Highly recommend a visit.
P. H.
Love this pub not too busy nice staff handy for us when we stay at Premier Inn and right next to train station 😀
A. W.
Good atmosphere pre Rugby match. Food pretty good, all day breakfast was a good option. Tigers supporters more friendly to opposing fans in here than in the Breedon Stand!
V. C.
Always pop in here when going into the city for a night out as we catch the train and this is next door to the station. Whether it is packed or a little quieter there is always a good atmosphere. Serves good beer, cocktails and food.
W. H.
This is a great pub to visit before watching a Leicester Tigers match. It's right next to the rail station, there's plenty of room, the staff serve quickly and it's close to an excellent curry house!
P. J.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, beer served in proper glasses not like the hind. Bit pricey at over £4 a pint, but still a he'll of a lot better than the hind
L. B.
A relatively calm oasis in the middle of the city. Not the cheapest bar around, but the range of beers on offer makes up for this
r. s.
The parcel yard it's a good place to go afterwork on a Friday or at the weekend they have a nice outdoor seating area and a great selection of drinks. It can be hit and miss sometimes absolutely heaving and sometimes dead. But it's a great place to meet your mates have a catch up and a drink or twenty. And they also do food and if you need to catch a train home it's right next door.
S. S.
The best place to go after a day travelling back from Nottingham on the train very comfy, roomy , nice drinks
N. K.
Had my retirement drinks, and meal here tonight, simple menu, but really nice. Plenty of space. Drinks good. For burgers, posh sandwiches and good drinks, great place to go.
S. F. v. M.
Another Great Venue in Leicester to meet up with your Friends after work to catch up and either have a meal or a Drink or Both!! Prices are very reasonable and the the staff are very Professional and Friendly!! Parcel Yard is also very Clean and an Enviting Place to Enjoy the Night!!
n. p.
This place is largen and very spacey. It is a nice bar to go to. It has a friendly environment and feels welcoming. It does not have the largest selection of drink, but then not many places do. It is a shane that their caiprinihas are not nice, otherwise.i would rate it higher.
T. Y.
Good service, real ales of decent quality.
D. B.
Great selection of food and good beers with lovely kiwi bartender but let down by two older male members of staff who were rude.
Came here for a work meeting and was showing my colleague how to play shuffleboard and got ticked off for touching the sand (which you're supposed to adjust)!!! Following this I was then asked sarcasticly by another guy who was near it with him if we were planning to play. It appears these 2 think they own the table and no one can come near it unless they're playing.
It's not your personal table guys; buy your own if you're so precious about people seeing how it works.
J. W.
This is the first time I've been in the parcel yard and I've lived in Leicester all my life it's a fantastic pub you go downstairs loads of room service is fast not too expensive lovely comfortable fantastic surroundings
G. J.
Good range of tap beers, friendly staff, comfortable venue, immediately next to the station. Good place to wait for a train or start / finish a night out that Leicester city that involves a train journey
G. S.
Great looking bar, great tasting beer, fuss free covid experience
M. W.
Came in for a quick drink, but I would definitely come again! Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, really nice place. I was served by Georgii, spot on customer service! Would recommend
m. g.
Nice place and great atmosphere. Also do Gluten free beer (Ceolia). Overall good place, good value for money and does above gluten free beer.
R. P.
A good pub. Not amazing, but good beer and a fairly good atmosphere. Friendly, but a franchise so it will never be as personal as a genuine freehouse. Nevertheless, as good a franchise pub as you can get.
A. W.
Quite a welcoming environment with a good selection of ales, and other drinks. Convenient for the station and seems quite popular with the after work crowd. Service can be a little slow when busy.
B.
Brilliant pub with excellent beers. I have yet to visit a pub with such friendly and hyper-efficient staff - they are all a massive credit to the place. I can't comment on the food as I haven't eaten there yet.
D. W.
Music choice is for a different demographic than the current clientele. Staff were good but a little slow due to making cocktails. Thus the general service slows down.
M. D.
Great beer and lovely food. Comfy seats and attentive staff. Left feeling well fed and really well looked after.
K. E.
A higher end bar close to the station. Great food and a nice selection of drinks but no real cider and limited ales. More expensive than others in the city but a good stop pre/post travel
s. h.
Good beer, good music, good service
B. B.
Nice lively place with a good choice of ales and beers
J. B.
Very friendly and they loved the dog too. Food good and excellent waiting staff the service was exceptional compared to many other pubs these days the staff deserved every penny of the tip
J. E.
Really good food, seemed ok to have children in whilst eating too. Burgers were excellent. Nicely done bar.
c. m.
We used the Parcel Yards rear space for a team away day and it was a brilliant experience. The space looks great and is very cosy. The staff were super helpful and the good was really tasty.
A. A. G.
Cold sweat Draft Guines for the end of that day.
M.
Just popped in for a quick shandy while waiting for my MOT. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Awesome spirit selection behind the bar. Gutted I'm driving!
a. p.
Nice enough food. But why oh why can't they serve a falafel burger on a plate! Mine came in a grubby looking vegetable box! I'm sure this is all very cool and trendy, but it's a pain to eat from. And my chips came in a tin mug! Plates have worked for 100's of years very well. It was a work lunch so didn't have a beer. But they seemed to have a decent range.
e.
Wonderful bar right next to the station. The staff were amazing and special thanks to Cat who helped us put a birthday party together and was enjoyed by all.
W. B.
expensive but good atmosphere
T. L.
I found this is to be by far the most expensive of the "Steaming Billy" pubs in Leicester whilst doing the Mild Trail: £4.20 for a pint of Kelham Island 3.7% Mod Mild is significantly more than the majority of Leicester and Leicestershire pubs charge for Mild (including the other "Steaming Billy" pubs I have been in this year). It was the same when I came here last year. Thankfully I normally use other more reasonably-priced pubs and will continue to do so. It pitches itself as a gastropub. I feel it prices itself so because it can exploit it's proximity to its immediate neighbour which is the Leicester Railway Station.
This pub used to be a trendy cocktail bar before it was taken over and many elements of the decor of that bar have been retained - several wall mounted hunting trophy shields with horns mounted on them for example which are not to my taste.
It is disabled friendly with a disabled entrance/exit on the Station Street side and a toilet on the ground floor.
There is also an outside eating/drinking seating/tables area covered by a canopy on its Station Street side.
It doesn't have any parking of its own on-site nor is there much immediate parking in the adjacent streets due to the Railway Station but there is an NCP car park on East Street as well as on-street pay & display across the road on Granby Street and the streets off of it.
s.
Very convenient for train station
A. S.
Large pub adjacent to the railway station serving beers from the Steamin Billy brewery as well as full bar. Always a decent pint on and you can keep track of your train with the departure screen provided.
C. W.
Not been here for a long time but enjoyed it for a stylish and quiet drink with friends. Not too loud and held a nice crowd level
K. S.
Really great place and good beer. Friendly staff. Go in and see their new interactive dart boards, bringing darts to the masses. Highly recommended.
S. K.
Steaming Billy pub, good place to meet up with people due to its location of literally being adjoined to Leicester Railway Station. Reasonable selection of handpulls but wouldn't want to stay there too long.
R. B.
Nice atmosphere with great choice of drinks
W. S.
Had a great night last Saturday. Found this place by chance but Kaira made us feel at home.
Good food, great atmosphere and not too pricey.
I. H.
I like this place good range of drinks next to the train station. And even better, tv's by the bar let you know when your train is due! Excellent.
1.
Nice place,good beer,can't fault it..
K. C.
Lovely staff, including door staff, quick service for a Friday evening only third visit there but each time I've been happy with the service and I work in the industry it's not my level of service but still a really good place. Will be back soon thanks again,
L. G. (.
Wish the train would be cancelled more often as this is the first place I go to to spend an hour sampling some local beers for the next train! Nice interiors and selection of beer!
M. S. (.
What's not to like. The service is excellent and the range of drinks will suit all pockets. I have yet to eat there but I wouldn't hesitate to do so.
J. F.
Large pub next to train station with small outdoor area. Drinks prices ok, not massive selection of ales though. Serves decent food.
L. S.
Nice pub but be warned you need deep pockets if you intend to stay for more than a few drinks
L. H.
Really nice place for a drink very friendly staff
K. B.
Food here is fresh, tasty and well priced. Good selection of beers and ales and usually enough tables/seats to avoid standing.
R. S.
This place is VERY deceiving from the outside, it appears to be a very small city pub that you would find next to the station, but in fact, it's a great place for food and drink. It does get rather busy at times and service is affected by this, but it's still a great place.
T. B.
Great pub. Outdoor seating, big screens. Plenty of beer and spirit selection and a very good food menu
L. J.
Fantastic pub drinks really enjoyed it
I. S.
Decent bar, big, plenty of space, liked the music, quick service too despite being busy. If you've got time to kill waiting for a train, go for it.
S. L.
Excellent food. Cool in the back area of pun. Sometimes food can take a while to arrive. Lovely staff on bar.
J. E.
A very nice bar, no trouble and better class of people. Yes, it is more expensive as a result, but rather pay an extra quid and feel safe on a Saturday night.
S. B.
Decent beer straight from the station and before the game so can't moan, it was busy but it was a home game day so shouldn't expect anything else really
A. M.
Only went in by chance as not local to the area. Much larger inside than it looks from outside. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff will come back if visiting the area again
N. S.
Nice venue very close to railway station. Good sandwiches, but my hot chocolate was nearly cold. Hence three Stars.
M. B.
This deceptively large pub has a good range of beers and a decent menu serving the typical foods you'd expect from a bar/restaurant.
S. D.
Heowge boozer, great brews, handy for the station on rugby days
M. G.
Dog friendly, makes a pleasant change , staff were good
J. E.
Nice freindly atmosphere - Next to the train station which is a bonus for us. Big sports screen outside. Good value drinks .
R. G.
Pretty good place, bit over priced and the darts machine is an absolute rip off but the garden area is nice and the pints are kept well
L. R.
Delicious food! Cant fault the beef sandwich- absolutely spot on! Staff lovely, great music and good prices. We’ll be back!
S. S.
Good environment. Easy to access and exit.
A. B.
Although I visited around tea time a Sunday while relatively quiet, good atmosphere and have been in this place before. Well appointed as well as comfy seats and stalls
T. B.
First visit...didnt realise how spacious this place is. Great choice of drinks nice seating arrangements...worth a visit!!👍
S. B.
We nearly missed this place as the entance is really small and quite boring. Step inside and it's like the tardis, great cocktails and impressive spirit selection.
r. b.
Great place to meet friends. Amazing selection of lager, real ale and wine. ENORMOUS selection of spirits. choices galore
G. O.
The food is ridiculously good, you get GIANT portions and the staff, the staff are all very lovely, very pleasant and very attractive, what more do you want from your pub experience?
