My husband and I went for a hike and came across this pub at the end. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and the platter we ordered was perfect. I am definitely coming back again to try the steak. 2 things I really appreciated were that They allow dogs inside which I found perfect and had partitions between the tables

What a lovely little pub. We booked for a fathers day meal, we were greeted and swiftly shown to our table. It was a nice un rushed atmosphere, the staff were amazing and waited on us continually. The food was piping hot and really tasty, you could tell the beef was fresh and cooked to order. After we had our meal we sat outside in the outdoor garden where our daughter played happily will we left.

We try our hardest when travelling to find convenient pubs with good food and somewhere for the kids to be welcome and stretch their legs. This canal side pub did not disappoint. Great gastro pub menu with lots of choice. We had lovely sandwiches at lunch time but very tempted with fab sounding burgers. Very welcoming and accommodating staff and great beer garden with play area. Would return.

Lovely spot. Been here a few times over the last few years. Staff always very friendly. Ate here for a Sunday roast dinner, but unfortunately quite disappointed with the meal. After quite a wait the Lamb was extremely fatty and chewy, potatoes overdone, yorky pud burnt to a crisp, veg quite hard and underdone. Dessert of treacle tart was quite underwhelming! Small tart with small dollop of ice cream on a massive plate! Granted they did offer a kind gesture to us for the wait, which was gratefully received. Just a real shame about the meal, normally quite good food there. Also, they only had one choice of ale on tap, nice drink but nice to have a choice! Overall a nice place, quite nice to visit in the summer with outside seating and play area for kids too. Just need to make sure food is better next time!

Friendly staff, so no complaints there and a very nice beer garden on the canal... Alas... No real ale other than Doom Bar, which was a disappointing start and the food was expensive, which if the quality was there would have been acceptable, but the burger was average: overdone and underseasoned. No one checked about the food, so no opportunity to ask for other sauce options etc, which considering current covid rules is understandable. Still, a very pleasant atmosphere, and would pop in for a pint again.

Staff were very friendly, drinks came out quickly. My husband and I sat outside as it was a nice day. We had a starter of some nachos which were great, more than enough for two and plenty of topping. I had a chilli from the light bites which was very tasty. My husband had a burger. He said it wasn't that tasty, and the fries looked anaemic. He asked for condiments which didn't come very quickly and had eaten his burger before he got them, by this time the fries were cold. Such a shame as we really loved this pub. Maybe bring condiments of with the main course so you don't have to wait would be an Idea!

Hi, We had a lovely short notice Sunday Roast dinner. Staff were great, and I fell in love with a dribbling cat. I have to mention my mistake of my previous review by giving 1 star rating, this was a complete mistake on my half. Apologies white Hart. Hope I've resurrected myself.

We had a wonderful Saturday afternoon at The White Horse enjoying the sunshine, the drinks and the food. It was great to be out again in such a safe environment after months of lockdown - the garden looked incredible! Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to make sure we had the best time.

First time we've been there after being recommended by other families. The weather was great so we had a meal outside. We enjoyed a drink and a meal while the kids were playing. It has a great play area surrounded by a fence. The food was amazing, the best medium rare steak I had in a long time, perfectly cooked, we opted for sweet potato fries which were crispy and delicious. The portions are decent size, we could barely finish. We also went for a walk along the canal, which was a great ending to a sunny afternoon.

My beer I ordered was not that nice .... personal taste. But I enjoyed my drink in the garden. The girl that served me was polite. The toilets were clean and CV19 precautions all adhered to. Stay safe, follow the rules and stay open.

Lovely food and good friendly service, reasonable prices given the quality of the food. Lots of ingredients are sourced locally. I am a vegan and have had 2 of the vegan options available on the menu so far, both were good quality and very tasty. It's so good to have vegan choices. Would highly recommend this to anyone but particularly vegans and vegetarians.

Very nice place! Food was excellent. The burger I had (Mexican) was just perfection. I'd recommend to anyone! The service was standard for any decent place. Check your food is okay, make sure you have drinks and just generally look after you. Nothing exceptional but also nothing to complain about! The place itself is fairly small, but also not rammed. It's off the beaten path which makes it rare for passers by, but also adds to the homely nature it seems to nurture. Very good for an afternoon lunch in the sun! In all, I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. Definitely visit, you won't regret it!

The food served, eventually, at this establishment was of a good quality and flavoursome. Sadly, despite a relatively quiet lunch time, it took 40 plus minutes for the food to arrive. Other clients having ordered their food after ourselves, received their orders first raising my query. I'm sorry to write that the attitude of the staff was curt and critical. This isn't how a successful business treats it's customers. Not even an apology was forthcoming. The tariff is restaurant scale, not pub. I expect better.

Never had a bad experience here and this place has fast become my go-to destination. Food was good but service was so so, only because we felt a little neglected on the day which was Sunday lunch, as other people seemed to be looked after instead of us. Nobody came to ask if everything was okay and we sat with finished plates for too long. I have eaten there before with excellent service so it was just for this Sunday lunch that things slipped a little. There were apologies and complimentary desserts so that was good! I do like it overall though and good prices.

Lovely location, very picturesque and adjacent to Watermead park which is a nice area to walk or cycle. The garden is large and well maintained. The interior is modern but I found it to be a little to light and airy, almost like a very nice garden shed. The food was good but the wait times were horrendous despite there being very few diners. Overall, a nice place to sit and have a drink after a nice walk but not worth the trip just for the food.

Just had a lovely Mothers Day meal here and wanted to give a well-deserved 5 stars. Lovely food, (puddings especially superb) and friendly, helpful staff. Went out of their way to accommodate my mother who is a vegetarian with a freshly prepared dish, which she said was amongst the best she'd ever had. Although not the cheapest, good value considering the excellent quality of the food. Will definitely return again!

Visited for Lunch after a walk around Watermead Country Park. This canal side pub welcomes dogs in the Bar (and when I say welcomes - they get their own lunch!). Great selection of beers and the food - well it was PERFECT. Best Pub Food I have had in years!

Easily the best pub in Birstall, possibly the best in Leicester. Sitting at the edge of watermead park, this pub is accessible via car, bike and even boat. They offer food, snacks, sports on TV, a vast beer garden overlooking the canal and even a children's play area.

There were 13 of us, so to please us all is a big ask. The pub is beautifully situated, slightly awkward getting down the narrow road which thankfully was one way. Absolutely rammed with 20 something age group so we felt quite old! Food very good but service very slow with a long wait between courses.

Nice pub was a bit disappointed About the food had a hunters chicken, The chips and salad was great but the bacon was full of fat the bbq sauce tasted strange and the chicken was not fresh chicken . It was like frozen chicken the one like tesco one for £5 in a plastic pack one not the tray one to be honest. The staff was nice and easy to order.

Been twice, once late evening and once for the sunny beer garden. Both times I've not had any issues. Everyone's loved thier food and a good selection of drinks. Family friendly also. Oh and did iention the beer garden? Yeah it gets the sun all evening and you have a nice little view of the canals.

Went there on 25/5/19 for a gender reveal and it was a lovely place to have it and food was amazing and well prepared, staff were brilliant and very helpful, always keeping the garden clean not just for us but everyone else. I would definitely recommend anyone to go there even if it's by yourself or as a family or friends. Dont read any bad reviews and put you off I didn't see any faults to put one. Thankyou guys

Mezze/tapas sized Italian food is a novel idea. There is a big variety to satisfy veggies and lots for everyone else. You can have everything together or starters first. It's great for sharing and big parties. Around 3 or 4 small dishes will be plenty so it's very reasonably priced. The food comes really fast so it cannot be cooked fresh but you cant beat the price, speed and setting is also pretty with lots of free parking

My car broke down tonight in their carpark. I waited in my car for 3 hours as the pub was very busy with my dog to be recovered by a recovery service. I was freezing, so went in the pub to ask for a bowl of water for the dog. Rachel the manager kindly offered me hot coffee, a cookie and a few dog biscuits for the dog. Her kind gesture turned my terrible day into a better one and her customer service was outstanding, she even helped me carry the dog bowl to car, above and beyond, thank you

This place has good food the staff are friendly. They have an outside area with play section for kids. I also notice they had bowls of water around for dogs. It is by the river Soar, you can see some boats and easily walk down to them. The location is off all main roads so its nice and peaceful away fron traffic noise. For pokemon Go fans, it is also a pokemon stop. Overall its got what you need, good food, nice variety, sitting area outside, play facilities for children, all by the river Soar.
