Seated in the dining room which was empty when we arrived, just 2 of us. Was very very very quiet in said dining room. Our waitress was lovely, very polite, and professional. We was then joined bye a large family, with children, which is fine but.... Would of liked maybe some back ground music, for more of an atmosphere, as spent the rest of our meal feeling like we had to whisper because we could hear everything the larger family was talking about. Food was very nice. Would visit again but ask to be seated somewhere else, personal preference.

We love it here, a real hidden gem, and great that they have Vegan options on the menus. There’s always space in the car park too, and they have lovely toilets. I’m glad to see the pub game machine has gone!

Fab food in a lovely beer garden. Our food came fast, though sadly our friend's who were right behind us had to wait another half an hour. Food was amazing, so we'll be back- fingers crossed for a faster service for us all next time.

Considering the price of the food, which is on the pricey side, was pretty disappointed that the steak was undercooked and seriously chewy. In hindsight, should have raised this. Also, as mentioned by some other reviewers, portions were rather small. The pub itself is clean and cosy, and the staff polite and friendly.

I had the surf and turf. Very expensive for what you get. The prawns were overcooked but everything else was nice. There's one problem with the yews though and it's universally accepted - the portion sizes are way too small, and it's certainly not cheap. If I pay £26 for a meal I want to be full and I wasn't. The other dishes are the same.

For me the food was spot on, the surrounding good, staff very plesent, polite, I would go again, for my wife not so, she had the vegan option and wasn't impressed, so very different experience food wise. She received a free pudding wich I though was more than fair, as I still think pubs that don't specialise in vegan, are at a disadvantage. Just my opinion.

First time visit this Sunday as we fancied a roast and didn't feel like cooking. Booked a table on the pub website, really easy to do and surprisingly quite a few slots available. The staff are lovely , the decor is homely and warming and good choice of Sunday roasts available along with their usual menu. I had the the three roast , pork, beef and turkey, my good lady had the turkey, nice roasties and veg, a big Yorkshire pudding and a gravy boat with a lovely, meaty gravy ! Mine had a strip of light and crispy crackling, both had stuffing, and the turkey meal came with a lovely pig in blanket. We also had a side of cauliflower cheese, portion size was a bit stingy but tasted nice. This is probably the best roast dinner we've had out and that's saying something! Nearly as good as a home cooked roast, well done Chef & Brewer! Highly recommended.

Lovely lunch ad hoc. Out doing some shopping in Oadby and as the Mrs drives through the area she mentioned this pub. Booked a table for a quick lunch and hlas we did. Lovely pub, with beautiful decor and lovely staff. I had an open feta flatbread salad and mrs had fish and chips. She said the batter was excellent and lovely chips. Our son had veggie sausages with jacket potato. My flatbread was lovely, I could have had more. One star off for the veggie sausages which were TOO hard but my son ate most of them anyway! Will definitely come again.

I visited the yews on many occasions for meals and drinks with family and my partner and haven’t had a bad meal yet . It’s not al a carte dining just normal pub chain food but always hot & tasty . Friendly helpful staff . Great selection of drinks .

First pub visited since the lockdown has been lifted. Sanitiser at the entrance to the pub with a noted one way system in operation. The staff has face shields and maintained their distance but we're still really helpful, the food was good. I have never eaten here before so unsure if it was a reduced menu choice, the menus were paper so thy could easily be deposed of. Tables were cleaned between guests. Fab atmosphere

Lovely venue. Was visiting for the wake of my Grandads funeral. A buffet type spread was brought to each individual table (in line with social distancing we were seated separately, table service etc) and there was SO much food. Trays of sandwiches, samosas, onion bhajis, chicken and chorizo skewers, chips, bread and butter, halloumi sticks (and more) - all brought to each table. Enjoyable experience after a difficult day, thank you

Large country pub just outside Leicester with excellent outside space. The only problem for me is that it just feels like the chain pub it is - slightly plastic compared to how it looks from the outside. That said, the place is clean and service decent and the drinks menu is as expected. Had a (good) roast dinner here one Sunday and the place does get busy!

Service made a huge difference. Went for Friday evening catch up with friends with low expectations (huge menu inevitably means cooking by numbers in the kitchen). Manager was quick to offer us a better available table when we ordered food and was helpful and attentive during the meal (which was fine, standard chain pub stuff). Delicious food served in a lovely old style pub with open fires. Service was quick and the staff were very friendly, and helpful when we needed to warm a bottle of milk for our three month old daughter. We will definitely be returning next time we are anywhere nearby!

My husband booked a table for us for my birthday, we had passed by a few times while out running and always said that we will have to go in there one day as it looks good and stands out. Quite excellent. In fact, I was present at a wake at the Yews, following the funeral of a friend. The premises is splendid: the staff extremely pleasant and helpful, and the food was really quite superb. So whilst not there for a particularly happy social occasion, it was an impressive visit. We went for our 30th wedding anniversary. We were shown to our table and the waitress brought a complimentary glass of champagne which was lovely. We ordered and the food did not disappoint. My steak was cooked to perfection. My wife had chicken and although she enjoyed it there was a bit too much sauce - not exactly a problem though. The service was spot on too, not rushed but certainly not slow either. All finished off with a complimentary Chocolate on a board with "Happy Anniversary" in a strawberry sauce ! Overall a really enjoyable evening and a superb meal. Big thank you to everyone at The Yews.

Nice tasty food and good pub atmosphere. The staff are very polite and welcoming and do recognise regular customers. However, the food portions did look smaller than last time I visited which was around 6 months ago especially the starters.

The Yews is in a lovely old building that's in need of some repair and repainting. The menu is the same as in other pub/restaurants in the Chef and Brewer chain, but not as well cooked or presented. While the food was okay, there was a problem with the staff. They were slow (took ages to take our order, even longer to take our payment), inattentive (we were asked if our meals were okay by a member of staff in passing - literally as she walked past the table) and one called all guests, even people much older than her, "darling", which may be meant as friendly, but came across as overfamiliar. A pity, because with better staff and a refurb on the building, this could be a great place.

Nice clean pub. Massive car park. Two entrances. One with steps and one with disabled entry. Clean toilets. Well mannered staff. Only thing was ordering to the waiter who was trying to remember 7 people's orders. Starters mains and sides, obviously a few hiccups and things were forgotten and rectified after a waiting time. Simple mistakes for simply not using an ordering method.

My meal was very good the Cod was moist, the batter thin and crisp. Mushy peas a bit on the yellow side, chips freshly fried. The cod was placed over some of the chips which rendered them a bit soggy bit the others were good. My service was prompt but I saw several customers enter and there was no one to greet them. I gained the impression that The Yews was a bit short staffed.

Steak overcooked for the requested medium rare. Chicken breast missing but not surprised at this. Have been here on numerous occasions as we have relatives in the village. Have never yet had all the items promised on the dish on the menu. Always something missing!! Ok for a quick meal out if you can't be bothered to cook but look elsewhere for a special occasion

I took my Mum it was our first visit. We had Pork Loin roast. It came with large Yorkshire pudding, covering a small portion of thinly sliced pork, soggy roast potatoes & you had to find the veg. Staff came with extra pork(left over scrapings I would say), extra veg which had been freshly cooked - the best part of the meal. I am sorry but it was so disappointing. This is a lovely place to be, staff attentive. If only our meal had been delicious.

Can be hit and miss, though my last visit in May was really nice. Could do with a better selection of ales. Food is generally good, and presented well. Try to avoid the back room that overlooks the garden, you can feel like you are eating on top of each other. I did see Claudio Ranieri there at Christmas though, and if it is good enough for him, well dilly ding, dilly dong! Worth booking in advance always, can get very busy.

All aspects of the Yews can be a bit up and down, the food is generally good, under staffed sometimes, some simple signage for outside garden dinners to let you know that you have to get your own cutlery and sauces etc. The staff are friendly and helpful.
