Reviews of The Morning Star
D. H.
Another surprise find at the back side of the cathedral. The real ale, lager and gin selection was very varied. We were greeted and served by very friendly staff. The outside area was spacious, well set out with both undercover and sunny areas and the flowers/planting gave a Mediterranean feel. Although they weren't serving food whilst we were there you could bring/order your own to eat. We will definately return when next in Lincoln and would not hesitate to recommend it (wish we lived nearer it would be our local)!
G. S.
Great local pub with great beers. Friendly staff, you feel most welcome. We must keep these pubs, not loose them.
P. W.
Quiet and comfortable pub just out of the main tourist area. Enjoyed a couple of pints of real ale, proper drinking.
S. B.
Lovely atmosphere here great place to sit out and have a beer or two with friends
A. H.
A lovely pub with a great selection of real ales and a log fire. Friendly and welcoming dogs also. There is a large covered area to sit outside
G. M.
Brilliant homely pub, great beer, great staff, dog friendly!!! and fabulous people who drink there and make you unbelievably welcome... Highly Recommended
D. C.
A traditional public house with a decent selection of Cask Ale. Just as good is the fact that they do not stock the vastly overpriced Fevertree tonic range but still has Britvic as well as Schweppes at much more reasonable prices. A nice friendly reception in a good clean pub. I would certainly recommend this as a place to visit when in Lincoln. Very close to the Cathedral too.
S. S.
Lovely little local bar. Warm, inviting, good beer selection and excellent bar staff. My new local.
U. V.
A very friendly pub, with a warm reception from Keiran, the barman. Lovely beer too. Good luck with your studies, Keiran.
M. B.
Great pub fir real ale. Not cheap, but if you want good ale you pay the price sometimes. Always busy so that says something.
D. W.
This pub is really nice, been here a couple if times, friendly and comfortable, meals enjoyable.
A. B.
Really nice pub, with a great outdoors area, mostly undercover, serving a good selection of beers, ciders, wines & soft drinks. The bar staff are great, really liked the table service! 👍🏻
B. H.
Lovely beer garden. Felt like a proper pub.
D. H.
Beautiful pub and incredibly well kept beer with friendly staff. What more do you need.
S. S.
Brilliant selection of beers, a proper drinkers pub. Well done 🍺🍺
a.
Decent pub. Was really busy Easter Sunday and the pints tasted great. Went in for a quick one today and it must have been the first as it tasted really dodgy, guess a one off.
Not sure about the advertised "cathedral views", we couldn't see it he cathedral.
P. R.
Loved the selection of ales and the atmosphere. So friendly and relaxed... An absolute gem.
M.
Great selection of ales on tap, clean and friendly with a great outside area.
e. w.

F. A.
This is a great pub, the real ale being very well kept with a decent range to choose from. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, making in our case tourists feel very comfortable, so much so we visited on numerous occasions and loved it.
N. J.
Nice pub garden and good choice of beers.
J. D.
Fabulous beer garden, lovely staff. Will definitely return.
p. r.
Love this pub. just popped in after the Christmas Market, traditional type with great ale and staff , lovely log fire 🔥 and plenty of beer to choose from. Shame I don't live closer.
K. S.
Good selection of beers and a great beer garden.
V. S.
Lovely live entertainment on a Saturday evening, typical friendly local 😀
M. R.

M. E.
Great beer in a warm and friendly traditional pub
J. G.
Lovely little locals bar fantastic beer and very polite welcoming staff
M. B.
Despite all the difficulties of serving in the outdoor covid world, the staff here was delightful and helpful. The outside facilities can provide shade, dry cover, or heat, as well as a separate area for smokers. The pours were excellent and came out in a timely fashion. Will return again.
M. G.
My kind of Pub, nice warm local Pub, unfortunately the cook was on holiday and we could sample an afternoon with food and ales. Will try and go back.
W. G.
Just popped in for a quick drink in August. The pub converted their former car park to outdoor seating area covered with marquee to allow for social distancing whilst sitting outside. Once their patio heaters are connected, I am sure it will also be cozy in the evenings.
M. F.
Great friendly pub.
J. T.
Lovely place and nice views of cathedral
C. F.
Lovely, friendly pub.
C. E.
Very nice traditional pub . Friendly with a good variety of beers
B. V.
Don't usually write long reviews, but this pub blew me away today:
Driving back from visiting family in Saltfleetby and it being a bank-holiday Monday, we were urgently seeking nourishment and refreshment from any pub between there and Nottingham. As it goes, many places were either fully booked or weren't serving food and we were drastically running out of options.
Luckily we then came across The Morning Star ( A pub we'd been to during a Lincoln pub crawl a year or two ago, which I was struggling to remember 🍺) seats were available and food wasn't being served but you could receive deliveries from Deliveroo, so we took it.
We were seated under a big ol white tent which was fun and the beer garden was beautiful! The delicious food just added to this already excellent experience. The Ladies who served us were lovely, cheerful and confident to a standard I haven't seen in most pubs that I've recently visited.
Walking back to the car, we were already planning our next visit.
Bravo 👏
P. B.
Called in for a Sunday lunchtime drink. Clean and cosy with pleasant staff.
F. S.
A lovely pub with a huge covered seating area, as well as open air seating. Prompt service from the staff and good beer. Couldn't ask for more.
J. B.
First time visiting the Morning Star, to adapt to current rules the carparks now a marquee complete with heaters and plenty of tables.
Table service worked well, with attentive staff.
Selection of breweries typical traditional ale on offer: Boltmaker, Doombar, Harvest Pale and Dancing Dragonfly. Usual inbev lagers and ciders etc. I'll definitely be back.
D. B.
Lovely pub. Nice staff and great ale.
M. B.
Outdoor tented garden space,
Ideal for any occasion.
Our sad gathering was made good by caring sensitive staff. Thank you
C. T.
What a gem, just a few yards from our hotel. Thankfully we found this wonderful pub, as our hotel, The Lincoln, had a useless bar. This pub had a great choice of beer, in excellent condition. Wonderful ambience, log fire, nice customers and good staff. Perfect.
N. G.
Good drinking pub got some good real ales on good friendly staff. Good to go with mate afternoon or evening
S. H. B.
Good fashioned pub with great locals and management.
B. P.

M. H.
Friendly staff, good service and great ales
C. K.
Really nice atmosphere with very friendly bar staff. The new beer garden has been great during the extra restrictions.
T. A.
It's on a backstreet so very few know about it. The only way to make a pub like this work is to sell the best beer in town - and that's what they do!
H. M.
Best pub in Lincoln. Fabulous exterior all weather seating with attractive planting. Fast service to your table with easy payment allways with a smile. Track & Trace plus hand sanitizer. Ness Phil & staff are doing a great job in the current climate as allways. Cannot recommend more highly 👌
P. Q.
Great pub, great beer, lovely staff
S. W.
First time going to this pub and all i can say is fantastic! Carpark is one big tent now with log burner in the middle. Excellent service during these difficult times. Can't wait to go back
J. C.
First time visiting Lincoln for a mini break. Stopped off at the Morning Star before trying to find our hotel and we were greeted by a lovely landlady who took the time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome. The pub was very well run with a good selection of ales etc.
S. K.
I have been going to the Morning Star for many years and would highly recommend it. The landlady and staff are warm and friendly, the food is great and they have a good selection of decent beers. The beer garden is very pleasent when the sun shines and if you are visiting Lincoln this pub is within walking distance of the castle and cathedral.
W. P.
Very welcoming staff and the garden seating was well set out. A nice cup of tea on our visit.

A great local pub with the cathedral minutes away. Hand pulled ales. 6 of choice. 3 lagers, Guinness, John smiths and strongbow dark fruits on tap. Lovely pub grub and snacks. Dog friendly. Now take card. Growing popularity. Regular great feedback.
A. B.
Nice friendly little place with some cosy corners but no frills. A great benefit is parking within spitting distance of Lincoln cathedral. Good place to go if you want a decent pint and friendly company, but wouldn't recommend it for anything else (we ordered a hot chocolate and it was awful!)
I. T.
Friendly traditional pub. £3.00 for a coke seems a bit expensive when you consider there is no alcohol. It's not even real coke. Maybe I'm out of touch but £10.80 for 2 pints of bitter and a coke seems to me expensive. I suppose we have to consider the beer which was 3.5 % I think. Never the less it's a shame I have to comment on this, nobody makes people buy it but it will be the demise of all traditional places like this, most people can't afford it. Never the less they are only the same as everywhere else, the problem being not enough clientele. More alcohol is being consumed than ever, but Liddle, Tesco and the rest of them now flog it instead. Shame but maybe we can open another Coffee shop looking to the future!
A. B.
Friendly, warm atmosphere how old pubs used to be good beer camra recommended. Vanessa and Phil are great hosts
J. D.
The pub have worked out a great heated outdoor area to allow social distancing, felt very safe and welcoming!
T. H.

G. W.

j. h.
Cracking evening in the outdoor covered area. Really friendly, attentive staff. Will definitely visit again
D. P.
Embodiment of the Platonic Ideal of your Real Ale Pub. I come here to get a centred reference point for what a pub should be. Just a very quiet friendly atmosphere, lovely beer and open fires in winter and background local banter. Excellent value simple food. No gastrified microbrewery artisanal bespoke food-on-a-slate beardy-wierdy hipster nonsense. Just perfection in its elevated ordinariness.
P. M.
Great environment well organised and the service was great pop in for a beer it's worth it
B. W.
Nice, comfortable pub with a lively atmosphere.
G. M.
