Reviews of The Red Lion - Digby
Having heard lots of good things about this place in recent years, I thought I'd take my lass there for a treat.
Well. Not a great start as the windowsills were peeling like a Brit in Benidorm!
Then they said they weren't serving food til five! I got the young man (Tim) to stop pulling the pint of old peculiar and felt there was no choice but to leave.
There were a lovely couple behind us with cockerpoo called blue and a we chatted, then in came a black lab called Rigby and we decided to stay the extra hour.
Made most welcome and I used their WiFi to do some work in the dining room.
Then the food, so, I wasn't sure about the apricot pork with peas and rice and carrots. But risked it and it was excellent. My daughter fancied a fillet steak but went for the blade of beef instead.
A shooting party came in having just had beaters day and I cannot praise that pub enough. Its not over rated in the least. (which is often the case)
The decor speaks for itself and Tim provided excellent and I mean excellent service. I doubt I'll be back but its one Saturday afternoon I'll never forget.
Proper pub, great beer, wonderful people, classy surroundings.
Thank you for having us!
Booked for a Sunday dinner. Didn't disappoint. Staff are super friendly and food came out quite quickly and hot. Reasonably priced, kids portions were a tad small but soon made up for with a slab of apple pie!
We recently booked the Red Lion for our Dad’s wake as he was a Digby resident for years and enjoyed many meals there. It has recently been taken over by a lovely lady called Liza and together with her team of staff did an amazing job at looking after us. The food and service were fantastic and we couldn’t have been happier with them as a host venue for our Dad’s celebration of life. It was a lovely and relaxed atmosphere and they were very accomodating from the beginning. Highly recommend The Red Lion and would love to go back soon for a Sunday Roast.
One of our favourite pubs to eat in ,the food was wonderful under the previous ownership but I think it has gone up a level under the new owners lovely friendly people very warm atmosphere would recommend highly
Sunday lunch with sister in law n 2 friends ,fantastic beef for 4 of us 1 pork. Fabulously food n service. Pavlova to die for. All sweets fabulous. Thanks so much for looking after us. Ann, Alan ,Rita Woodhead ,Kim n David xx we will be back xxxx
Feels like a locals pub, and was nice and peaceful after a days hiking. Food was incredible this evening, starter and main were both absolute tops, steak done to perfection, Stilton sauce was beautiful. Just gutted not enough space for pud! …
What a pleasant pub. We visited this pub on a Sunday after booking a table last minute. Even though the restaurant was fully booked they made the effort to squeeze us in on two tables pushed together in the bar. The food was fabulous, with a wide range of beers and ciders on offer. They even sold pickled eggs! The decor was fresh and well maintained and the toilets we clean. We can wholeheartedly recommend this pub for either food or drinking.
Went in for a pint while visiting the near by steam railway.
Good big pub very clean and tidy. Friendly staff and good beer. Recommended.
Went for a meal there tonight, I really enjoyed it. The steak was cooked to perfection. Thank you
