Reviews of The Royal William IV - Pub & Kitchen
C. S. T.
What a great dog friendly pub and restaurant this is on the wharf. Probably our favourite in Lincoln.
A mix of old exterior and tasteful yet traditional interior. The manager /owner was exceptionally hospitable letting us take 2 dogs in a quieter corner. The entire pub was accessible with good clean facilities. Amazing menu and my brother is still talking about his breakfast all made with fresh ingredients. I can't wait to return here in the future and sample some more of the extensive gin cocktails.
It was pricey but for the location and hospitality and fun it was well worth the extra money.
H. S.
Friendly pub with reasonable prices but service was very slow! Had sausage and mash. Sausages were hard (pre-cooked and reheated?) - they clearly had had a hard life and could tell a story! Good location and good pint.
I. C.
The food is amazing. However, the prices as as per an luxury restaurant and not as per a ordinary pub. Lovely staff, quick service and nice environment (still a pub lol).
Can't say that I can recommend it, but if you are not to hungry and are willing to pay around £12-13 for a tiny chicken hunter burger or more than £10 for some sliced chicken with mushrooms and rice, then you can visit this place.
Although, the mango cider was extremely tasty 🍺

Excellent atmosphere and place to eat the staff were very friendly, the food was great I had the steak and ale pie.... My only criticism was the gravy that accompanied the meal was a bit thin (the consistency of black tea) an option of how you would like your gravy might be an idea for the future perhaps? but apart from that the food was absolutely excellent, my wife had the chilli and thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal also it was red hot to the last mouthful which is to me very rare but an absolute credit to the chefs and all the staff!
N. G.
The pub had a good range of interesting real ales, and some craft beers. The staff I encountered were friendly and charming. The pub is in a lovely location, and has seating adjacent to the nearby water.
E. T.
Fantastic food and friendly service in a well-kept environment.

I recently visited with my girlfriend & sister to take my mum for a nice meal for her 80th birthday! The staff were SO friendly & helpful, even tried to help us book taxi for my mum who isn't very mobile at the moment! Big thanks to them! Food was lovely, drinks were spot on, all at affordable prices & the atmosphere was very relaxed & welcoming! Highly recommend a visit when in the area!
S. C.
Great place to enjoy the harbour side with a drink. COVID safe with app ordering and the staff wore masks. Talking of staff they're polite, efficient and professional. We didn't try the food so I couldn't comment on that but a nice place visit none the less.
M. O.
We took advantage of the table service outside, it is lovely sitting by the canal. Sarah took our order, she was very attentive and knowledgeable. The service for both food and drink was quick even though they seemed quite busy and everything was great. Benn was also very friendly. All in all a lovely experience.
L.
Nice pub, just stopped in with some visiting friends for the quiz night. Really friendly and helpful people here, didn't get any food as I have medical dietary restrictions with gluten. It would be nice if they had more than one bottled gluten free beer.
D. L.
Old looking pub inside, on a very lively and modern riverside.
Quite small but that's part of the charm. Plenty of good beers and ales on offer. Plenty of outdoor seating too if that's more your thing. Not too much inside space though.
L. F.
Lovely pub with a nice outside seating area on the water. We very much enjoyed the pub quiz here too. Great atmosphere inside and out and friendly staff. My only criticism is that its a bit pricey.
a. p.
Went in on a cold wet day with my 3 year old granddaughter. Made us feel very welcome. Food lovely, atmosphere friendly. Very well looked after and accommodated our needs.
K. T.
We took our daughter here today for Sunday lunch to celebrate her birthday. The location is great and the food and service were both fantastic. Would definitely recommend the Royal William to anyone looking for a quality meal.
D. B.
Excellent pub situated in a great setting by the waterfront. The staff are very friendly and it has a choice of real ales. We had a meal there which was very good value and tasty. Recommended.
G. J.
Visited during the morning as they were serving some tasty looking breakfasts. Unfortunately not geared up for gluten free options other than a veggie breakfast, which wasn't what I wanted so just had a cup of tea.
K. H.
My family and I ate here on Sunday for the first time and we all said exactly the same thing 'best roast dinner we'd ever had' will definitely be going back. Staff were lovely too which made it a great experience for everyone. Thankyou
P. H.
Not our first visit, but nice venue on Brayford. We had drinks outside, plenty tables, decent selection beers, ciders. Food is good, fresh cooked but can be slow at busy times. Like many places, staffing is an issue. Very friendly, professional behind the bar.
c. a.
Decent beer selection, food menu looked good too although I didn't eat here. Gets busy when the sun comes out but coped pretty well.
J.
A olde feeling pub which is very rare in the times of corporate chains.
A great selection of beers and wines.
Food is very nice lots of choice and presented really well.
We will be visiting this pub again.
T. G.
Lovely friendly pub. Able to eat inside with the dog. Chilli nachos, chickpea tagline and a side of nachos. All delicious. Great service, nothing too much trouble. A rare find indeed. Highly recommend.
N. P.
Nice pub on the waterfront. Definitely a go to place especially in the summer as outside seats available.
Only downside for me was limited vegetarian meals.
R. L.
Popped in with the family while visiting Lincoln City for the day. Just stopped for a quick drink. Good selection of drinks and friendly bar man. Would recommend a visit to others. Good location on the waterfront.
m. w.
Enjoyed the quiz. Food was ok, customer service however excellent. I didnt ask or push for a refund, but they refunded me anyway as I made a comment about the food. Would go back due to good service.
K. H.
Great location on the Bradford, especially on a Sunny day. Great staff and good pricing. Xx
P. A.
Professional staff. Cool tasty craft beer just next to river/canal with view on university part of Lincoln
J. P.
Lovely pub at the end of wharf side. Dog friendly, good range of local real ales. Discount if you have cinema tickets.
D. M.
Called for lunch after dropping son at university, very busy due to time of year, but service was very quick. Reassuringly asked 18 year old son for his ID. All food was very good
k. m.
Nice pub. Lovely friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Great cocktails after meal.
S. B.
Very friendly and welcoming staff, I have visited here on a few separate occasions and never had any issues. The food is also great, not the cheapest, but very good. 5 stars.
P. R.
Called for a cappuccino and coke after walk from the stadium, staff friendly and welcoming, reasonable price and nice seating area outside overlooking the Bradford. Would go back
C. P.
Popped in for dinner, great service, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. Good value for money.
P. W.
Lovely pub, great atmosphere and very nice range of beer, what's not to like.
T. W.
A great pub on the water front . Sit outside and look at the barges passing or watch the wildlife.
Table service supplied by hard working , friendly staff.
Worth a visit as they serve food too.
T. L.
I have been to this pub several times for a drink and I have found it to have a good location next to the Brayford with fast service.
I went for a meal last night here seated outside, I ordered fish and chips and my girlfriend had a burrito. Both of which were nice my only complaint being the fish was quite small, it was more of a battered anchovy (I suppose I should have specified what fish they'd be battering).
The service was a little slow for the food, it took around an hour which is definitely long enough, but the drinks came out within about 10 minutes.
S. G.
A good Sunday lunch with a few drinks. Glad we booked a table, it was busy and we saw people being turned away. Portions were good, we all left with full bellies.
E. J.
Once again our meal was extremely delicious! Definitely somewhere you can take the whole family as a treat; everything is cooked always to perfection! Even the presentation is amazing! My family always enjoy our experience here! Also would like to say how proffesional and kind the staff are; a table next to us had a problem with their meal even though they cleared their plates, and the manager was quick to act on how to sort the situation. Will definitely always be a favourite pub of ours!
A. K.
The pub is in a lovely location with a nice interior and pleasant staff. We ordered three main meals and after a long wait they arrived. My son's fish and chips had skin on the fish which put him off his meal. My meal of creamy chicken and ham pie with chips was nice. My husband's steak and ale pie and mash was tiny. A pie that resembled a small football ground pie, with no taste of the ale supposedly within it. A spoonful of mash and a token amount of vegetables. Disappointing for what we paid.
G. E.
Fantastic pub grub, with great service and the the staff were excellent and extremely friendly.
C. W.
Good value, tasty food including lots of veggie & vegan choices. Great view of the Brayford pool boats and swans. Dog friendly inside is a bonus!
J. D.
Top notch food. Extremely good bar service. Staff always polite and attentive. Clean, nice old pub feel yet still modern. Good location, especially if you're waiting for the cinema.
B. A. M.
Nice pub, kid friendly, pet friendly. Good food, good quantities and good flavor.
D. C.
Nice interior, small but well defined menu. My meal was typical of a chain pub offering which was somewhat disappointing especially given it wasn't inexpensive. Better places to go for lunch and dinner in Lincoln, but not the worst either.
D. C.
Came in for lunch, Nathaniel and Matty were working and honestly can say they made the experience amazing, kind, curious, friendly and inviting willing to crack a joke. Food was enjoyable and environment was inviting. Will be coming back next time I'm in Lincoln. Corvo Attano!
R. E.
Nice comfy pub, we didn't eat here but the menus looked good and wasn't over expensive, they do healthy food options too and beer is good.
W. G.
Great old school pub, real ales, keg beers Great outdoor space overlooking marina. Food sounded and looked great.
S. W.
Lovely pub, great food, views, drinks and friendly staff.
N. L.
What you would expect from a well located busy pub. Friendly staff the most noteworthy. No complaints.
J. K.
Great atmosphere and location. Friendly staff. Price same like others pubs. Recommended.
c. a.
Superb food, highly recommend! Had the pork belly and wow! All the staff ar3 incredibly friendly it's a must if you're coming to lincoln
M.
Stopped in for a couple of drinks on the way home. Staff polite and welcoming. Will return another time and try the food.
E. J.
Lovely well kept pub, friendly staff and in a perfect spot near the canal. Sat outside in glorious sunshine.
D. T.
Fantastic bar, good choice of beer, clean toilets, friendly staff, nice food, nice outdoor area right by the river.
S. W.
Excellent location. Drinks well priced. Didn't eat here so can't gomment
T. G. D.
Called in early evening midweek for food and drinks. Good selection of ales and spirits. Food is excellent.Calamari starter was good and main course was really tasty... crispy pork belly with crushed new potatoes, parsnip, cabbage and cider sauce. Staff were very friendly and helpful, asking if any food allergies, and catering for and arranging alternative ingredients if needed.Good chilled atmosphere and doggy friendly area with comfy seating. Will definitely call back here next time I'm in the area.
K. K.
This is one of our favourite places so my husband booked a table here for valentines day and it was even better than normal. Lots of little touches which made it that bit more special! There was rose petals, candles and even a valentines quiz on the table. We absolutely loved it. Thank you
K. H.
Lovely atmosphere at Christmas time. Staff friendly and attentive. We came in for lunch and managed to be seated as it was getting busy. Found the food freshly cooked and home made, and came out well presented and piping hot. Prices are mid range but it isn’t a chain pub so it feels all the more better. We didn’t have a pudding so I can’t comment on those. Will call again if in the area.
R. W.
Cracking little boozer this. Great choice of drinks on tap, and a decent food menu if you fancy a bite to eat
Made us very welcome
M. D.
Excellent food and service was attentive. The serving team were very alert and accommodating for any dietary requirements.
Roast dinners and pies were particularly good with great flavours and attention to detail on their veg.
S. A.
We always have a wonderful meal out at The Royal William. The staff are friendly and the food is fantastic!
R. K.
Very helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Nice drinks.
B. S.
I popped in for lunch. Lovely food, not huge portions but enough for lunch and pleasant people. Also allow dogs which is great to see
M. L.
Good food, good atmosphere and friendly staff.
C. M.
Only 4 stars as we only went there for coffee outside. Did venture inside to use the facilities and everything looked good, as did the facilities. Coffee was great and the location fantastic especially on a lovely summers day. Whilst Costa is good (one no more than 20 seconds away) I would suggest you try this place out instead.
J. F.
Nice spot by the river. Food looked good but we didn't order on this visit
C. H.
Great lively pub, good staff as well, always on the go.
P. W.
We went today for a late lunch...wow excellent food , three very different meals really well cooked . Mains and desserts were perfect in every way. The drinks were top marks also. The service was excellent, very friendly and professional. As if it couldn't get any better, this place is dog friendly, they brought a water bowl for our beloved Ozzy.
100% recommended by us , we will definitely be going again soon hopefully.
E. T.
Great friendly service and delicious food. Oh, and great beers too!
W. C.
Stopped for coffee and ordered breakfast too. Poached eggs were superb, could haven't have been any better.
S. T.
Very homely, welcoming feel. Lovely, friendly staff. Great selection of ales, ciders, wines & spirits. Enjoyed our mulled wine. Food also well priced from well balanced menu. Terrific, charismatic pub!
S. C.
Located on Brayford Wharf Lincoln.
Enjoyed it. Friendly atmosphere, friendly bar staff. Relaxed atmosphere, didn't try the food just had a pint and a G&T. Was going to sit outside but had to squeeze inside due to the rain. Wasn't that expensive, but not as cheap as Weatherspoons.
P. N.
Beautifully cooked breakfast served with great service and a smile. Highly recommend.
C. T.
Nice meal. Little pricey. Drinks prices bit steep.
g. k.
An ebullient staff and I had a nice hot five bean chilli but the vegetarian choices were limited
J. L.
Had a very good Greek salad and fried here. Sat outside in the sunshine and watched the activity on the water.
R. T.
Had Sunday lunch with the girlfriend & we both said it was one of the best Sunday lunches we've ever had. We both had the chicken which was delicious but saw the beef & pork being brought out for other customers & they looked equally tasty. Great selection of beers & wines, lovely atmosphere & terrific service, would highly recommend!
D. M.
We had a work meal here on Sunday night and the food/drinks was amazing. The service was spot on. Special mention to Ben and Nathanial who went out of there way to make sure everything was perfect, great customer service from both of them and one of the reasons we will come back again. Keep up the good work!
S. B.
Nice relaxed Sunday afternoon with good food and nice friendly attentive staff. Wine was tasty also.
M. W.
Good pub nice staff.good food n drinks .nice place.
M. H.
Brilliant location and as a bonus the food was really nice had the soup and enjoyed it 😀
P. G.
Convivial place with good range of beers and pub food
P. P.
It's a lovely little place and I usually always go for the fish and chips, never been disappointed with that yet. On this occasion the steak & all pie was slightly overdone. Lovely beer on draught and a very cosy setting to keep you warm.
C. C.
Wow! A warm welcome and friendly staff await you. A popular pub with a great atmosphere. The food and drink menus are superb. It's difficult to walk by without calling in!
M. R.
Pretty much well described by other reviews but in the summer it's a lovely place to sit by the water and people watch. Good food, beers and wine ,reasonable prices.
Y. Y.
Opened at 10am on the dot, tremendous Full English Breakfast......will come back
A. K.
Nice meal at the Restaurant. Good and friendly service by the gentleman who served us. He is a credit to the establishment.
J. S.
Nice place to meet, with quality ales and decent food. Pleasant, welcoming atmosphere, and staff.
P. F.
A really good pub for food and drink. The staff were friendly and approachable and accommodating. The menu is on a Web based approach but our server was spot on and took our order bit by bit.
Service was prompt but pub not too busy.
We had a starter to share, then ordered mains. A starter was ordered with chips plus the steak which was cooked perfectly. A blue cheese sauce was a very good choice.
A pint of bitter, a bottle of Shiraz and a large Chardonnay brought the bill to a little over £72. Maybe a bit pricy but location, service and quality of food made up for it.
Lots of outdoor seating and a large indoor space.
Enjoy, we did.
I. R.
Lovely old fashion pub, great ales, nice staff
J. N.
Try not to go indoor eating since Covid but popped in here early as it was quite and the few people who were in were very well spaced apart. Barmaid was Lovely Sanatised our table & was very friendly : ) Just had pint & a starter - Good Beer. Crispy Calamari was Amazing cooked to perfection & Chicken Goujons Scrummy & enormous. Loved them Both. Complements to the Chef.
A. S.
Great food! It was lovely to sit by the water as well.
r. g.
Visited for lunch with my parents today and had to leave a review because it was so brilliant. Safety and social distancing were top of the agenda, but that didn’t prevent an incredibly friendly welcome and fantastic customer service throughout our visit. The food was really great (loved the pie!) and we felt really well looked after by all of the staff we interacted with. Couldn’t be happier with the choice and really commend the measures you’re taking to stay safe while also providing a warm pub welcome and fantastic food!
H. C.
What a great pub. Food is very good. Music just right.
G. H.
Amazing lunch today. Great food, excellent wine, friendly welcoming staff. Will return next time we are in Lincoln. Only chanced on the pub after a lengthy sharp around the city looking for a pub that was serving food. This was lunch on Tuesday and every single pub in Lincoln was only serving drinks?! Why? Because of the football which wasn’t on until 5pm. What a sorry attitude by all these pubs and well done to the Royal William. I believe every diner at this pub will be a return customer in the future. We certainly will. 100% recommended.
C. L.
Very hot day, sat by the waterside, lovely beer and lots of people watching
R. B.
Lovely well presented cosy pub, friendly staff and lovely views.
D. J. S.
Lovely pub! I was in Lincoln for a couple of nights and the first evening there, the weather was nice and so we stopped for a drink. Alas we did not eat there the first night but we made sure that we did eat the following evening - we also went back for breakfast the next day! On every occasion, the staff were lovely, the food was excellent and the feel of the place was so nice! If I am ever in Lincoln again, I will return here!
T. N.
Great breakfast in a nice friendly pub on Brayford wharf.
Good service and good options.
G. H.
Had a really lovely impromptu visit here and was so pleased that they were dog friendly in part of the venue, all the staff were so attentive checking in that we had everything we needed, looking forward to coming back!!
M. M.
Although we had to sit outside for the visit due to covid rules the seats were really nice and we were by the water so loved it. The staff were friendly and attentive and the toilets were very clean and well maintained. Coffee was lovley. Only thing I would say is, we didn't like the online ordering system but we figured it out. But would definitely recommend it and we hope to visit and have a meal next time we're in town.
R. W.
Lovely pub with a great ambience. Really enjoyed the pasta dish I had (chicken and chorizo). Would definitely recommend.
A. L.
Nice traditional waterside pub with excellent surroundings and atmosphere. Plus dogs are welcome if accompanied by well behaved owners ha ha !!
Food looks and smells great.

I travel from Peterborough to see a friend in Lincoln on a regular basis. I alway ensure it’s on a Tuesday so that we can partake in the pub quiz. The pub is clean, with friendly staff and a great range of food a drink, but the show stealer is the quiz. 1st place gets £10 credit per player, and a chance game to win the roller over cash price of the entry fee, second gets a free drink, and third place gets something as well I think. The host is a great laugh and keeps the quiz running at a good pace, he gets a great atmosphere going, and to really seal the deal, free chips. This place is a winner, I’ve met some great people here, and had some good nights out because of it.
M. F.
Excellent pub, especially in the summer when you can sit outside with a beer and watch the swans, geese and ducks swim by. Always have Neck Oil on tap, as well as another couple of craft /real ales.
A. M.
Great pub and fantastic food very good staff and waiters
S. M.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, good food.
S. P.
Visited for lunch today and had mushroom and tarragon soup. It was the best ever! Can't wait to go back. Well done to Xander who served us - excellent, efficient, full of joy and professional. My partner's granddad used to run the pub in the 1950s and I'm sure he would be pleased to see the standard it is today...well done. Sandy and Ian
R. B.
Lovely pub on the waterfront had a drink and lunch with my son food was ok but wasn't worth the price my side salad was old and so wasy son's would go again though x
B. H.
Very nice food and at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
D. B.
Decent pub but not too much seating for drinking only
D. S.
Good selection of tasty food on the menu. I loved my espetada. Followed it with a chocolate and orange torte. Delicious! Many thanks.
H. A. T.
Excellent food, lovely staff. We had a great time 🙂
P. B.
First time we visited. Called in for a drink. A lovely clean and warm pub/restaurant. Friendly staff. Will be back in the very near future to eat.
I. T.
Fabulous English breakfast this morning. A generous plateful cooked to perfection. Great to have a meal cooked by someone else. Great not to have to wash up. Friendly attentive service from Owen. What's not to like? Recommended.
A. S.
Really good pub, lovely atmosphere and great food
A. B.
This pub on our recent visit had no atmosphere, whilst I appreciate COVID is a serious issue which we all need to do our part in keeping everyone of us safe, the current set up was disjointed & appeared awkward!
D. S.
Nice pub over priced drinks good view of the local lowlifes
A. S.
Pleasant enough pub...no TVs or football..a win win in my book. Sunday evening end of January super quiet . If you're looking for more action then try elsewhere
D. G.
Great graft ales, reasonably priced Great atmosphere.
K. H.
Attentive staff. Good food and reasonably priced. Plenty of outside seating next to the water. It was busy but service easily kept up with demand. Thanks.
C. G.
After telephoning ahead to make a reservation for four we arrived 15 minutes late (we were driving from an hour away) but this was not at all a problem. We were shown straight to our table by lovely staff. There was only about a 15 minute wait for our food to arrive after ordering and drinks arrived almost immediately.
The food was delicious the staff were polite and efficient and we had a really enjoyable stop. Thank you!
M. W.
Went for dinner here the other night on the recommendation of a friend I ordered the pie which was nice but the starter and side were not the best.
The salt and pepper squid was very small and at best average the side of garlic bread was basically a baguette with some garlic on top and was very dry so much so I actually asked for butter to put on it. Staff were friendly and attentive and overall a little disappointed with the food.
M. C.
Great range of beers and ales with incredible customer service from really friendly staff, and their dog friendly!
H. H.
So easy to order the food, great location.
S. S.
Great and friendly service, lovely food and good ales...and good value in a welcoming atmosphere...full marks!
g. m. (.
Lovely pub on side of the Brayford, but sadly marked down for poor state of the gents.
I. “. s. S.
Lovely old pub with friendly staff.
C. R.
Great place with old pub character and the foods good aswell.
G. W.
Sat outside next to canal very nice had some tasty snacks and good ale
G. C.
Had to go online once seated, to order our food and drink. Bit of a palaver, but eventually got it all ordered. Staff were very nice and very efficient, but although my husband meal was ok (steak pie, mash) I was disappointed with mine - Burritos with rice, sour cream, guacamole and salsa. I had expected to be making my own with bowls of salsa, cream etc., but it was all rolled up on the plate served with chips and rather limp side salad. Didnt taste of much at all, mostly rice. No heat to it and very little guacamole or salsa in it. Quite disappointing really.
Prices are reasonable but just found it quite a chore doing it all on my phone - takes the enjoyment out of eating out.
Z. D.
Main course was excellent, however dessert was a little disappointing. The ice-cream barely had any flavour and was quite watery. My guess not dairy ice-cream.
S. M.
Lovely food. Staff were warm and welcoming. Would recommend.
K. H.
Really nice venue, food was great and a generous portion size (gravy was a highlight and you get asked if you want more) and the staff are lovely. Definitely recommend.
P. M.
Good food great staff
A. M.
Lovely Mother’s Day meal had last year and returning again this evening with family for a Sunday dinner. Have recommended this place countless times for Sunday lunch. Lovely atmosphere, great tasting food and polite staff.
J. S.
Food was delicious! Absolutely beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful and we loved the little games that kept my son occupied.
The only downside was that we asked for a small bowl of chips to keep my son busy while we waited for our food and this took a lot longer than we anticipated to get to the table.
We would definitely go back though.
A. H.
Nice pub on the river front outside tables
A. P.
Always enjoy a visit to this atmospheric, friendly pub. Great wines and beers - and always a great menu! Pies highly recommended by my hubby - and for me, five bean nachos delicious (I had the sharer as a main course - so plentiful). Thanks for consistent great experience!
P. J.
Great food on a whole. Only 4 stars because the chips were cold, but they replaced them straight away, and forgot to bring the child's ice cream out. The quality of the food was good and the pricing very reasonable, especially for the location.
If our daughter decides to go to Lincoln University then I am sure we will have another meal here.
K. W.
Don't normally give reviews but feel that the meal my family and I had today for Sunday lunch was worthy of an honest review. The staff were efficient, the pub was extremely clean and the food superb. The best roast dinner I have eaten out for a very long time. Well done🤗
R. G.
Good food ( if you go to Odean Cinima you get a 20%discount voucher for the Royal William) Atmosphere was pleasant staff helpful.
M. N. L. D. M.
Excellent dog friendly waterfront location
Great table service or you can use their website.
Good craft beers although they can be a little expensive compared to other establishments
J. M.
This is a very comfortable pub with good beer, good food and friendly staff
R. F.
Gorgeous slightly upmarket pub that we went to for a meal out with parents, both well used to very good food but really liked the fare here, we also both enjoyed very much.
The decor and atmosphere of the place is fantastic too!

Great spot. Good food. Tad expensive but thats city prices. Looked after our dog well water n a treat.
C. B.
So nice inside, the food was great and it had a fantastic atmosphere. The staff were really lovely. I'd go back tomorrow.
E. R.
There were four of us in our party, two of whom have allergies, and we were all catered for by very helpful and attentive staff. Nothing was too much effort for them. Can't wait to come again!
D. J.
Fantastic food and drink options, yes you’re paying a little more but you’re paying for the terrific little cottage pub vibe and the quality of the food and ingredients. I have been a number of time for either food and drinks or just drinks and I’ve never left disappointed. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I cannot say a bad thing! Great job!
C. H.
Food was lovely. A bit slow on the service side of things but overall it was a good choice. They even brought over a bowl of water for the dog.
R. S.
We visited on a Saturday night. As vegetarians the menu was pretty good with a vegan menu on request. The waitress came to take our orders and asked straight away if anybody has allergies intolerances. Had the estradas. They were good but needed a little more grilling. What we were very impressed by was the wine. Never before have we been in a restaurant that lists wines as vegan or vegetarian. Normally when we ask the question, we are greeted by blank faces and have to explain why they are/ are not vegetation. Very impressed by this. Others should follow suit.
P. B.
Lovely staff, excellent service and food bonus that they take dogs.
M. C.
Lovely "sundowner" beside Bradford last night. A very patient member of staff guided us through the ordering process. Once this was done we were served at the table as on the Continent. Love it !
H. P.
Homely old style pub. Food was great but a little bit overpriced. I had a pint of staropramen on draught and when it got to my table, it was full of black bits. However I told the bar staff and they replaced it with a different beer whilst they got the issue fixed free of charge.
J. D.
A good Sunday roast.. Just be prepared to wait, we waited a good half an hour after ordering. The wait was worth it. I had lamb and the Oh had the beef. I would have given it a 5 if it had been a little quicker and the seasonal veg was more than cabbage and leeks. It could have been a little hotter too. However I'd definitely go again.
N. H.
Wanted something light for lunch so stopped in here. A lovely pub which is tastefully decorated. Staff are rally friendly and attentive. Chose a fish platter to share (though it's not called that!!). Came with cod, scampi, squid with salt and pepper, salad and garlic mayo (we opted not to have the whitebait). Food was really tasty and reasonably priced as £15 for 2. Wine was a little pricey but had a very enjoyable lunch and bottle of wine for just over £30.
c. d.
Came here as have been before and really enjoyed it. Meal was still as good, service fantastic but what let it down was the menu. It was a Sunday and when we arrived were told there was no Sunday lunches available, but this was fine as we had been before and had a good choice from the menu. This time the menu was extremely limited :/ I wasn't impressed as the choice was fish, scampi, pie, gammon or burger! That was it! No specials board or anything ! Surely there has to be a better selection of foods they can put on the menu???
C. B.
Popped in for a drink before cinema. Great products. Lovely atmosphere and very professional and attentive staff with bundles of character
S. W.
Overpriced but lovely setting (hence prices) Could only order on line but service was prompt when I'd got my head around the app. Didn't like having to order unfamiliar alcohol and not able to ask staff about the drinks.
D. B.
Friendly staff and great food in very nice surroundings. Also dogs allowed which was good news Very reasonable prices , will definitely call again
D. (.
Long wait for food on a asunder evening, and really tight with the gravy for some reason but a nice pub all the same.
C. T.
A lovely theatre with helpful staff.
C. P.
We had a family and friends meal the night before our sons wedding. What a great night we had - there were 15 of us, the food was fantastic everyone had their meals at the same time and really enjoyed their meals. The service was excellent and staff friendly. So glad we choose this pub for our get together.
J. H.
The meal was lovely and tasty. But when booking a table would have been nice to be advised the table would be booked out again and what time . Then when requesting drinks they were brought to us . So with fresh drinks Infront of us,we were advised the table was needed in 5 minutes. I appreciate you have to make the most when customers are there but would have been nice to know sooner.
N.
Not had Liver and Bacon for years it was on the specials board and it was absolutely beautiful. every thing cooked to perfection
J. S.
Great food, friendly service
G. R.
The staff we're friendly and the view is lovely but the food is mediocre at best. Wouldn't choose to eat there again.
n. p.
Lovely little pub , portions small but beautifully cooked. Staff really lovely
L. F.
card only, no table service/ app to order
N. C.
Nice cosy pub, Thursday night was relaxed and not crowded. Came to kill a bit of time whilst daughter was at a rock climbing place. Friendly bar staff, clean and welcoming. Will try a meal here next time as food looked lovely.
M. N.
The food was lovely and reasonably priced and all of the staff were very nice
Will definitely go there again when next in Lincoln
K. F.
Local establishment with beautiful outdoor seating along the waterfront. Food is fantastic.
B. H.
Not the first time I've been here but will probably be the last. Food and service are "ok" but plenty of better places in Lincoln to eat and drink so I doubt I'll come again. Weatherspoons quality but more expensive.
B. H.
Lovely pub, good beer, comfortable very nice atmosphere
J. C.
Everything was good apart from one dish. Three of us ate, staff were friendly, premises appeared to be following all the covid rules. There were some annoying fruit flies that buzzed around us all meal. It was the muscles from the specials board that were the problem. Rather than serving in a traditional muscles pot they just came in a bowl so were cold when they reached the table. They were taken away and brought back steaming hot but rubery. Did they microwave them? Pate starter and sticky toffee pudding both very good.
C. F.
Fantastic food, terrific service.
They also have an indoor dog friendly area and they provide a bowl of water for them.😃
L. S.
Great Breakfast, top notch, lovely produce.Brilliant serve from Reece, will definitely call again, also ate there on Thursday night 5 star!
A. P.
Lovely friendly place, good food, good beer and a very warm welcome...
J. B.
Super friendly staff who were really on top of all covid rules. We had a baguette for lunch and it was very fresh and delicious 😋
K. L.
Excellent venue and position on the waterfront was ideal. Covid followed perfectly. Staff very polite and helpful. Food was bloody lovely. Will recommend to friends and family, and shall return ourselves.
K. H.
Great pub would be even better if more outside seating
Would even be better if they made their minds up about how you got served....one member of staff took an order outside nice and easy... other one wouldn't saying we needed to use an app! Even after saying someone would come outside and take your order....why do we need to use an app?
M. C.
Very nice atmosphere with pleasant and cosy surroundings. Some outside seating looking over Brayford Wharf, very pleasant with swans. We only had a snack as eating a full meal later but it was very nice, quick service and well presented. ONE problem, although there is no mention on the menu, they smother their chips in salt so BEWARE if you are allergic or do not like / want salt.
L. B.
Loved it. For was great. Dog friendly seeting area. Good with social distancing. Can't wait to go back
L. C.
Very nice. Loved it
D. C.
Nice place for a quiet drink in comfort. On a sunny summers day you can sit outside next to the waters edge. Food was good and the starter was larger than we thought it would. Nice comfortable seating available and was busy on Saturday afternoon.
K. M.
Lovely to sit in the sun by the brayford, top draw
J. S.
Some good veggie options and a vegan menu, and a drinks menu which also details which are veggie. Losses one star as food, which was tasty, could have been a little hotter (they were very busy though). Bravo for highlighting vegetarian drinks.
K. D.
Lovelyvatmosphere, excellent food.
K. W.
A lovely little pub, especially busy today probably due to the Lincoln match. However we were served quickly and the food was amazing! The staff were rushed off their feet but still managed to give great service. A special mention to Emily who was lovely 🙂 Can’t wait to return!
N. H.
Great friendly venue, good menu choice. Great outside seating and pretty candle lit inside seating
Great place
G. W.
Disappointed with the food, a pulled pork burrito was more rice than anything else.
B. D.
Great food and dog friendly! And lovely staff too 😊
w.
Nice pub grub. Fresh and didn't feel like there was a microwave used. (Unlike most pubs these days)
Only grumble is that it is a little pricey..... then you can forget that as the service was great and speed was reasonable.
T. J.
Nice pub, dog friendly but only 3 tables so getting in is a challenge, booking is recommended.
L. F.
amazing breakfast, lovely staff
c.
Lovely pub and nice atmosphere
J. F.
Lovely oldie worldie pub. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Lovely position down by the Riverside.
C. S.
Lovely weather for drinks outside lovely atmosphere friendly staff
P. H.
Great place for a pint on the waterfront. Orderd on line and out came the order. Perhaps if it goes back to normal it will be crammed when ordering at the bar.
A. H.
The food was surprisingly good for the price, plus they had some decent beer (neck oil) which had obviously been kept well. Would go back.
J. H.
Rammed with people, which is good, but clearly caters for people ordering food mainly.
P. P.
Lovely chilled out atmosphere, friendly staff. Not many tables though so you might have to book if your going for food. The food is absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny. Lovely view of the waterfront too
R. j. L.
Nice place to visit. Food is freshly made and is always hot when it reaches the table. Real chips. Gluten free menu. Not the quickest service but the staff are nice. A tad expensive but not too much and the portions are good.
v. H.
The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious and we always have a great time whilst there
M. V.
Good place. Food okay and some things a little different. Excellent, friendly and speedy service. Nice spot on a bright sunny day to sit overlooking the marina.
Good range of drinks and beers and reasonably priced for a pleasant, city-centre location.
L. R.
Safe and clean unfortunately didn't get my starter waited a long time for the rest of our meal desert came with custard not ice cream as ordered
S. b.
The food was nice and so were the staff, had some vegan options. Although, they had ran out of some options and service a bit slow
M. E.
Slow service, missing plates from the order and overcooked items not really matching the menu.
M. W.
Sat outside with a drink. Table unsteady but pleasant views
D. R.
Lovely pub to warm up in on our weekend away. Lovely city.
S. P.
Very good food and drinks. However, the cleanliness was exceptional. On arrival we were temperature tested and hands cleaned. And after people left the tables were cleaned very very well.
R. S.
Good pub food. The most covid secure place we've been to. Very friendly people. Definitely recommend.
M. C.
Nice pub, good atmosphere, friendly people and lovely staff.
Thanks for the drinks (after clearing up after those couple of low life glass throwing idiots outside)
Didn’t spoil our experience or visit, and would visit again if in the area.
K. S.
Great pub with excellent food and varied choice of drinks. Staff very friendly.
P. C.
Great food in a great pub that is ideally located.
We have visited here many times over the last 15 years and always enjoyed the food, along with the service. Impeccable may I add.
Last night 03/12/2016, I left disappointed with the staff. I asked for a Brandy and lemonade with no ice and little lemonade, like I do in any bar if my wife requests it. Alas, the Brandy was drowned in lemonade. When this happens I just normally buy another Brandy, but at £4.20 I was not willing to buy purchase through no fault of my own. Hence it led to a 25 minute debate with the bar person involved. All the time my wife is wondering where I am. To top it all, because I was rightly or wrongly defending my reasoning, the guy with the red beard said "Do you really want your wife to see you taken out of here in cuffs?"
At the end of the day we ordered food and it was scrumptious,
Get the drinks right folks.
Gone down in my estimation, unfortunately. ☹️️
D.
A gastropub on Brayford Wharf that sells meals. Went on a Wednesday night and it was quiet. There were four of us and we all enjoyed the meals we had. I had the Steak and Kidney pie which came with mashed potatoes, veg and gravy.
This was followed with Lemon Meriange. Both courses were very nice. Will go again if I am in the area.
S. L.
Sea Bass was very tasty. It was on the Specials Board. So look out for that.
T. A.
Great site ...much improved decor inside. Very clean .Service excellent. Altogether a first rate experience
H. W.
Food very nice and reasonable
M. T.
Had a lovely eggs benedict here, wonderful place to sit. Partner really enjoyed her vegetarian breakfast.
N. M.
Great pub, good selection of ales food very good and reasonable price
M. F.
Stopped by for a couple of glasses of shandy. Card only but otherwise business as normal in a nice friendly atmosphere seated at tables.
A. S.
We had lunch here on the Friday of the Christmas market. It was very busy as you would respect, the service was very quick and the food excellent. They also had a good selection of beer. Altogether it was a very good experience.
A. C.
Very nice pub.
T. W.
Lovely pub ....the view across the brayford as the sun goes down is gorgeous if you can get the window table ....food is soooooo good....service good ....if you like an original pub with good food not too loud music where you can actually have a conversation this is your place. Ideal place to eat if you have a dog ,children also disabled friendly, everyone welcome with amenities to match. If you want the cinema after it's a few steps away...uni opposite... .town to the right.. If history is your thing then the william is the last original building that remains around the brayford..highly recommend.
J. D.
What a lovely pub with a calming atmosphere. Very impressed with the efforts to protect against covid. I couldn't fault the staff or food. Look forward to visiting again.
J. B.
Didn't eat but sat outside for a few drinks. Good location on the corner of Brayford Wharf, a minute walk from the high street. Staff were helpful and friendly and lager and beer was good. Nice olde worlde inside.
B. G.
Popped in here on the off chance the other week and ended up having a really nice meal with excellent service! Following week we returned after being thoroughly disappointed with another restaurant. Me and the other half both had the roast beef dinner and it was one of the best roasts we have had
R. B.
Met up with son's partner's relations for Sunday lunch there,it was a very good lunch with a good menu and all had a good time.will go again.
A. “. W. W.
I always smile when I come in here, because I can still remember it as the slightly down at heel, but cracking waterfront boozer. It's very smart today with very good food - and they've maintained the quality of the beer.
S. C.
This pub is warm, cosy and welcoming and a great place to stop for a drink. Staff were friendly and accommodating and we were able to grab a spot by the fire. The Royal William is a refreshing change from the chain restaurants along the wharf.
t. d.
Went last night as our usual place was not open. So surprised. Excellent service with a waitress who knew her stuff and so pleasant. Food was great. Mushroom soup amazing. Will be back.
C. W.
Convivial, friendly place. We had a lovely evening talking with three different groups of people we met there. They have good beer (ale for those who think lager is beer) and Bill's Steak and Ale pie was delicious. The music selection is interesting (including rarely heard covers of current songs) and there is a box of games like Trivial Pursuit for customers' use.
Lincoln is a gem we intend to visit again, Brayford Marina one of it's "must visit" places and, for my money the Royal William IV is the best pub there.
S. s.
Decent food ,clean and Covid safe . I do think the Covid order on your phone situation is a little OTT , other pubs visited seem happy enough to order at the bar
M. C.
Lovely place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
Food is good and prices are what you'd expect.
T. J. P.
Good views over Brayford good menu reasonable prices but compensated by over priced beer
s. h.
Nice view over the brayford
E. M.
This this is a really nice cosy pub. We when for a drink after dinner and it was really relaxed. The was a fantastic selection of gin to select from. The staff were friendly and welcoming which added to the atmosphere.
K. K.
Very nice and quick service. Very good for a couple of evening drinks with your friends
I. J.
Good food and good beer.
If you want a nice pint away from the yoofs and students of Lincoln then this is the place, quiet with a good food menu. 4 stars.
03/10/19 drops a star to 3 as the hand dryer in the mens has been knackered for months and not fixed and the missus reckons no dark fruits option on the draught is a negative.
A. J.
I had the fish and chips Which was good, but I thought expensive. The pub served by good real ale. Mainly frequented by annoying middle class and middle aged people. Consequently quite dull.
M. D.
This place has such a beautiful location and looks amazing itself.
The menu is good, choice of drink is good, food is excellent and the staff were friendly.
A. a. D.
Really nice pub, lovely food always cooked to perfection, pleasant staff, good location on brayford walk nice marina , few out side seats. Short walk to the High Street. Parking close by at Lucy's Tower car park
p. r.
Great place for food , very friendly staff. Small but cosy. Seats outside with great views over the water. Also give discounts with a cinema ticket for 20% off food. We go regularly at lunchtime.
S. H. B.
Great pub & staff being going for years and looking forward to better times and a fresh beer at the side of the brayford pool😎👍🏻
J. H. P.
Lovely friendly staff, good service and food, would recommend
C. L.
Great food, table by the water, easy to order on the phone, even brought water out for my dog 5*
M. W.
Drinks a little pricey, but food was outstanding as was the service. The steak was incredible.
A. A.
Nice location. Seating arrangements good: atmosphere not bad but.........for goodness sake STOP calling your customers "Sweetie" and "darling". It doesn't convey friendliness it conveys an underlying disinterest in the customer and a patronising attitude towards them. It is extremely irritating.
H. C.
Service was very good and the food tasted absolutely lovely. We had the blue cheeese burger and the pork belly main course, washed down with a well kept Stamps Cascade beer and a Pinot Noir.
I. C.
Great food. Brilliant value with the 50% half price October deal.
Great service and friendly staff
H. M.
Beautiful braised beef and tender steak cooked as I wanted. Serving staff were accommodating and happy to adapt dishes to our needs.Lovely end to a short break.
M. G.
Quaint pub on the brayford.. shame they ran out of brandy though .
A. I.
Absolutly fabulous place, would highly recommend it. The food we had was realy nice, staff are great and friendly and the pub itself is lovely and cosey inside, will definatly go back again.
S. L.
Nice spot. Decent selection of drinks. Made popular because of the location. Right in front of river with seats available. Next door to big Odeon, couple of bars and resturants.
They also serve decent food. Price is fair for service.
M. C.
Food was good , service and staff excellent..
Nice pub overlooking the marina.
J. G.
Beside having to shut the exit door all the time when somebody left the pub under the one way system the pub was really nice. Didn't have food but it did look good!
J. L.
A lovely spot to grab a drink by the Brayford Wharf with a rotation of nice guest Ales. The food is also very nice, the chicken goujons were fantastic last time I visited. Also, for those so inclined, Tuesday is quiz night.
D. C.
Friendly staff but food Overpriced and taking ages to arrive even for a simple baguette.
M. O.
Staff always pleasant and friendly. Beer is really good and the last time I eat in here food was fab. Only drinking today though
c. j.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere and great service, good selection of ales.
S. “. O. K.
Sitting out by the Brayford with a crisp pint and a baguette, lovely. Jolly staff, very helpful, would recommend to Lincolnites and tourists alike.
J. W.
Great food, great pub, and the staff were all very busy and very much on top of their busy lunchtime period. I will definitely visit again.
M. B.
Great proper bar, very friendly staff and great atmosphere
G. V.
I drunk a soft drink with mango and apple and I had an English breakfast and both of them were very very good. Recommend.

M. K.
Excellent food and Real Ale. Staff very friendly and helpful
N. J.
Lovely chicken and ham pie👍
M. W.
Great pub, great staff
e. C.
Nice location, good food, friendly staff but with a surprisingly dingy, smelly and run down toilet. Time for a refurb.
P. J.
Great place orders very quickly came out did get overcharged for an extra drink i did not have. Overall would go again
L. C.
The food here is really good and the location and atmosphere of this pub is brilliant! It is always busy, so it is sometimes difficult to get a table as everyone wants to be here.
J. Q. L.
One of the best pubs in Lincoln. Nice staff, decent seating, good food and lovely pints. Can get ridiculously crowded Friday-Saturday however, good luck finding a seat!
Music is surprisingly good but please space out the sporadic Ed Sheeran marathons!
S. T.
Food as good as it was 18 months ago when I last visited . Staff friendly and attentive. I'll be back!
R. S.
Great views over water.
A. S.
Friendly service, great food, beer and location
L. L.
Lovely Sunday Roast and other meals. Fast and pleasant service
R. C.
Great choice of beers. Friendly staff. Good food. Very relaxed. One of our favourite pubs in the city.
m. m.
Very friendly staff , lovely and warm on a cold winters day . Dog friendly too .
F. X.
Lovely food and atmosphere, would like quicker service and more varied menu (tasty food though!) Evenings can be a bit loud so be aware
J. L.
Few beers in the sun ,card payment only
J. B.
It's a friendly place, busy in the evenings.
We had a meal once, I had fish and chips (par for the course).
It's good to sit and have a drink
R. A.
Great food, good selection of ales and top service.
D. B.
had the Sunday roast it was lovely a generous serving shame the roasties were overdone but that's my only criticism all the rest was cooked to perfection the staff were very polite and friendly and I would definitely come again
M. T.
Good food & great Guinness
A. J.
Friendly pub on the wharf with great beer and good food. We found the bar staff great fun and there is a regular pub quiz on a Tuesday night which is a right laugh.
K. B.
Nice cosy pub
R. H. (.
Great food, quick service. Lovely chilled atmosphere in a nice part of town
P. L.
Comfortable, friendly venue with good range of beers and food, cheaply priced and a meal offer if you retain your Odeon cinema tickets from next door.
A. W.
Staff were very pleseant, lovely food, reasonably priced and plenty of it. No skimping on anything. Have been a few times before and will most certainly be back again.
D. N.
A little pricier than the average pub meal but it's worth it. Lovely home cooked food at a nice location next to the Brayford
J. N. M.
Very nice, delicious food and enjoyed sitting outside by the water. Beautiful.
T. H.
Great service and lovely food, well worth a visit for lunch
A. W.

Warm cosy pub good for just popping in for a coffee but great for food, gets busy as food good quality and price. Staff friendly and helpful
D. H.
Absolutely amazing staff waited 40 minutes for food but received a full refund with s free deserts and a drink each wasn't expecting anything as the pub was busy very impressed with the respect we got 5 plus ********* food was amazing too.
S. G.
Nice location next to waterfront. Stopped for drink and it looked a very popular place to eat. Well located for city centre and 10 min walk to cathedral quarter.
T. M.
Bit of a regulars pub and some thought they should be served first.
S. l.
Lovely pub for a drink over looking the water, order on the app or with the helpful staff
N. H.
Great food staff excellent would highly recommend a visit
P. M.
V good, food a bit slow to arrive, but nice enough and service friendly
K. B.
Old Tavern going back many years. Plenty to choose from the food menu. Good beer but facilities could do with a brush up.
D. G.
Standing room only. Don't ask to sit at the restaurant tables unless you can survive the death stare! Great pint let people sit down and set your tables tomorrow
S. B.
Lovely little pub .. very friendly and helpful staff... great food . With a beautiful view over looking the Brayford pool marina. Well worth a visit.
J. O.
Had the Sunday Roast - beef, lamb and pork. One gluten free and they also made a special gf free caulifower cheese especially. Fast friendly service.

Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff. Just a shame about the prices because it is actually one of my favourite places to drink
L. G.
Lovely little pub down by the river, fab meal & very quick efficient service, many thanks to all the staff🌈
M. W.
When in Lincoln always come here food usually brilliant but on this occasion it wasnt the best but will be back , maybe it was because it was 50% off and therefore the staff were rushed of their feet
R. F.
Good pub - chose to sit outside and have a quiet drink. Wonderful!
G. W.
Very nice place, food very good
S. B.
Good pub food, range of real ales
P. R.
Great food and friendly efficient service in a lively pub by the waterside.
R. B.
Food was good. This pub is cashless.
G. P.
Service not the quickest & full menu not available. Selected beer not available either. Our group enjoyed the food but the rest of the experience was average at best.
J. S.
Lovely pub by Brayford Pool with plenty of tables outside. Downside their handpulled beers are expensive

Love this pub. It's a proper pub not one of these major league places like Weatherspoons, plus they have Thatcher's gold on tap.

Several of our party complained of very salty food.and second order of two tea s where forgot, had to ask for them again. We asked to move a table so we could sit together and was told no because it would block a fire exit. However the exit was padlocked with an industrial sized lock and chains.
