The food was really good, my son wasn't too impressed with the limited selection of burgers so had the ribeye steak instead "it was decent" high praise indeed! The rest of us enjoyed our meals. The sticky platter starter was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive, we weren't rushed and the surroundings are pleasant.

We have recently moved to the area and visited this pub a few times. We have mainly had salads and pizza but they are always delicious. Great choice of drinks and some nice ales.very cosy pub with a great atmosphere .kids are welcome and staff are lovely and great service. Would highly recommend. Called in for food and drinks, attentive staff, lovely seating area at the back of the property overlooking a lake and nice small garden area. Food wasn’t cheap but very tasty! Nice chilled few hours, would visit again!

My guest and I were waited upon this evening by Robyn. She was courteous, polite and helpful. Not to mention very patient with us guests ( we were chatting together too much). Her service was excellent, and when asked about ingredients of the meal, she promptly returned to the kitchen for the answer, which was much appreciated. Our visit was overall a very pleasant experience. The service was above expectations and the food was a wonderful experience. Thank you. We shall return for your hospitality.

This wasn't an unpleasant visit but food took VERY LONG to arrive. Starters, main course and dessert (20-30 min each course). Staff was helpul and food was pricey but nice enough.

Good variety of beers. Pleasant staff. Dog friendly areas inside. Choice on the menu is limited but still good food. Could do with a bigger portion for the price paid. It gets busy on warm weekends, but plenty of tables available, but book on weekends.

Nice place for a quiet drink with a pal. Bar staff are polite and speedy. A large range of beers and cider available. There's even a large supply of guest ales, not a common thing these days. Nice place to chill with a pint or even grab some food. Good lively atmosphere as well.

Nice beer garden and very dog friendly. The food was delicious had the signature burger and the rib and dauphinois potatoes. The rib was massive and really tender. The staff were really friendly as well. Would recommend. Its somehow great for a casual drink or meal and also a fancy one since the inside is really nice as well.

Popped in the other day with a couple of friends - have to say first impressions were fantastic. Greater by bar staff / (manager) Sam and she was great. Despite the gas running out on the beers to ensured we were happy, drinks filled and fed. Great service from the team esp Sam!!

Must admit to having a soft spot for this venue as we both arrived in Lincoln at the same time and can remember it being built. Over the last 28 years I've had some lovely meals here and throughout that time has maintained consistently high standards for both the food and the service. Once again enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch today.

This is our local pub & we visit about once a month. This time we went with friends and they were very impressed with the quality of the food and variety of wines compared to the three pubs in their village. I think there needs to be a bit more choice like typical English fayre - sausages & mash; pies; curries

I saw from their announcements chalkboard to download their Vintage Inns app and saw a list of vintage pubs across the country where I could potentially visit and be amazed from. I love the peace and quiet of the restaurant and a very rustic ambience, a pile of fireplace logs for example evoke reminiscent feelings. I could definitely offer another visit.

We really enjoyed our visit, the food overall was great. We were disappointed by the lack of vegetarian main options, only two mains on the menu and one of those they didn't have supplies for! We got around that having a starter as a main also with side dishes. It was good but would like more options after all it is a big chain

Spent a week in Lincoln and found this pub a few days in to our holiday. Really smashing place to eat and drink. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Biggest plus point is the staff. They're all friendly and helpful (Charlotte and Hannah are two names I remember). Well worth a visit.

I've been here a few times with family up in Lincoln for birthdays or a meal out. The food is lovely and the service is really good, especially how busy this pub can get. The atmosphere is really friendly and I always feel welcome here, it's a really nice place that I'd recommend to anyone in the area.

Went Friday evening so fairly busy . The tables in the restaurant were spaced out really nicely , which was good . Food came quickly and was delicious. I had the Ribeye steak and my friends had the fish and chips and the hunters chicken , all meals were really tasty and value for money, in lovely surroundings . Our waitress was really friendly too and kept checking to see if we needed anything . A good night was had by all , will definitely be back .

Lovely location, good food, I just wish they would clean their glasses. Every single glass I have ever had there has been dirty or covered in marks. Just polish them when they come out of the glass wash.

Lovely pub and setting with good personalities with the service. Shame the menus over priced and how they let people setup camp to fish on the lake and leave their hoodies on multiple tables for hours preventing arriving custom from using the table, but not fussed when the random hoodies are mentioned to them. Then they use other tables when they eventually hop back over the fence for a resf, on different tables to where their hoodies have been left. Dogs are welcome outside. As I said, lovely place, not sure I'll be running back in a hurry though.

Staff are friendly and the food is great quality, especially for the price. Perfectly suited for couples, groups of friends or a family meal. Kids may not appreciate it as much as there's not as much for them but thay doesn't mean you can't bring them.

Very appealing restaurant from the outside looking modern and boasts ample parking spaces and well maintained outdoor seating backing onto a large lake. Staff were extreemly welcoming when we were met at the door and invited to a table without having to book in advance. This restaurant offers table service once seated. The restaurant is quite large inside and can cater for large numbers. There were a variety of menus ranging from their standard menu to the lunchtime menu and also had dedicated menus for people with certain allergies such as gluten - something not many restaurants do! The staff were also very knowledgeable about these menus and were able to answer all questions about allergies put to them. When the food arrived the quantity was questionable however the quality was outstanding - especially for the very reasonable price. The toilets are situated upstairs which isn't very straight forward to find unless you ask. First you must pass the entrance to the kitchen and then past the pile of dirty dishes in a separate room before you can get to the stairs. That said, the toilets are very clean and clearly well maintained although the decor is a little out dated. I think this is not the kind of restaurant you want to go to if you are very hungry and are looking for a large meal however if you are after some quality food, this restaurant would be an idea place to visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all.

This is a great place to sit with a cold cider with friends, great atmosphere, the brownie is delicious and the staff are friendly. Only been in the evening after the rush and everyone still seems to be in good spirits, looking forward to spending more time here in the summer to take in the fabulous views across the lake as well as soak in the sun in the garden. We came here tonight on a whim having been badly let down by the complete dumpster fire that is Damon’s. What can I say except WOW. From the moment we entered to the end of the meal, service surroundings, food and atmosphere were 100% on point. This is everything I look for and more in a restaurant. I am a regular customer at the Swanholme and this week I dined there on 2 consecutive days. Enjoyed the new addition.. delicious kedgeree fish cakes.. and had an equally tasty meal the next day chicken pie.. and Eton Mess to die for! On both occasions I was served by Ishka.. as I normally am ..and I would just like to thank her for her excellent customer service. She is always very welcoming friendly and helpful..and a real asset to the team. So thank you Ishka and the rest of the staff too. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks.

Can’t praise this pub enough! The manager is really welcoming and the staff seem to enjoy their jobs! Often you find service in pubs basic but the Swanholme really delivers! The food is delicious and it arrived quite quickly. We stayed for drinks after eating and had a really nice time.

Friendly staff but that's where it ended for me. I had the slow cooked beef.. not tender and the suet was rock hard. The sticky toffee pud was meagre as was the drizzle of tepid custard. I think I was sat at the paupers table as the wall next to me had food and drink spattered on it. The very dusty cobwebs were a nice addition to the pictures and the cushion on the bench seating looked as if it could get up and walk out by itself. Allowing dogs in is a great idea and I'm all for it. However, staff shouldn't really be stroking and playing with them then handing our cutlery by the blades for desert. All in all a pretty dismal experience and a real shame as I've been there many times before and had an excellent time. After my latest visit though, I'm unlikely to go back. Just for info. First time coming to Swanholme Pub. Great Scenery! Great environment to eat in! Staff were friendly, informative and had quick service, and even when the pudding was late - they made up for it by giving us a 10% discount on the final bill. The food was a 10/10 and we liked the aspect of it being all homemade which was nice! The one thing I have to admit that could be improved for later is that I would have preferred the pizza to be already cut ... or maybe you could order for it to be cut or not cut. Other than that, the experience was great! A dog-friendly restaurant with amazing service and food deserves five stars in my books! Definitely recommend and will hope to come back again.

We were a bit dubious after a dismal experience at another Vintage Inn recently. However as that was the Crown in Colchester, previously recommended we thought we would give this one a go after shopping in Lincoln. Firstly what a fantastic location on the lakes, impressively set off inside with a proper and roaring fire. We were early, no problem, taken to our table, and this time a wine list was provided, and of course you can investigate drinkson the app. Service was attentive, food was tasty, and arrived without being tardy or rushed would remark though the roast could have been hotter. Was a bit disappointing the cauliflower cheese was unavailable Thanks for restoring our faith. Again though pricing is a tad steep, but when you get it right it's worth it.

I was a little disappointed with my Xmas lunch. Has the lamb which was perfectly done but the portions were tiny. Two small pieces of lamb, one carrot, one parsnip and 6 brussel sprouts. Not exactly filling for Xmas. All in all would definitely go again but will have Turkey next time as it looked like a meal rather than a starter. Staff were very pleasant.

We were so excited for our first meal out but when you wait at the door for ages and are not greeted, you don't feel welcome. We also struggled to book online. Starter was tiny but tasty. My main duck salad was very disappointing, hardly any duck, so had to order a side of new potatoes, which were as dry as a bone. Ended up having to buy two packets of crisps as still hungry but I think there would have been plenty of nice, filling food to have had but just made the wrong choice. No soap in two dispensers in the bathroom and both dryers not working, women having to dry hands on clothes...which made all the one way and masks seem irrelevant. The saving grace was our stunning view of the lake...which I requested on the online booking but was told that didn't make any difference and it was first come first serve. Would go back, just think they were overwhelmed and out of practise.

Mixed views First visit here in years. It's very dark when you enter. It's unclear where/what the different seating service areas are/whether it's waitress service or order at the bar/whether to take a seat or wait to be seated etc. We seated ourselves to the left of the entrance. The seat covers were horribly stained and dirty and the seats uncomfortable. My partner had steak and ale pie which was excellent, hot and plentiful with lots of lean meat. I ordered rump steak very, very well done. It wasn't done to my liking, no one asked if it was and the only reason I didn't send it back was my partner would have finished before I got it back. Also accompaniments were minimal, 3 leaves, half a tomato, 3 onion rings. And chips but if those chips were triple cooked - as it said they were - I'll eat my hat! They tasted like cheap supermarket oven chips. Would we return? Unlikely.

Gorgeous building and nicely decorated on the inside. Not traditional 'pub grub', as I had expected, but the menu is online for you to look at if you want, before you get there. I ordered the Chicken and Mushroom pie and oh my god it was so good! It was quite busy on the Friday night that we went, so that meant service was a little slow, but the staff are so friendly. The only 'negative' for me was the spotlight that was above and to the left of our table... it was directly in my face, making it quite hot! I had to ask for it to be pushed a little bit, but after that it was fine.

Adding comments to my star review after our long awaited visit last Friday lunchtime with my mother and my young daughter. The Swanholme is set in a lovely location and they serve delicious food. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are really lovely. It is reasonably priced and very welcoming. They have great menu choices if there are vegetarians and vegans in your party. We have always liked it here and before family life got in the way I used to regularly visit for coffee and cake with friends and it was a setting for a first date with my other half over 10 years ago.

We visited for a meal with some friends. The outside area was nice, especially in this weather but inside was also very cosy. Service was great from the staff and they were really friendly however the reason for my 3 star review is due to the food. We picked this place because of their vegan menu, which looks great. My wife ordered the coconut curry and I had the pasta with a side of broccoli. When my dish came out I had to ask if there was more to come... I have never had a meal served to me that was so small. When told this is it I went to dig in however noticed white stuff throughout which the waiter said was cheese. I've ordered from the vegan menu so this obviously shouldn't have been on my plate. By the time a replacement had been brought out everyone else had finished, however, they forgot to add the mint and basil pesto dressing so all I had was pasta and peas. They just brought out a side dish of sauce for me to mix in. No real apologies given, no refunds offered, no complimentary drinks. Based on the above, I won't be returning for a vegan meal.

A great pub on Doddington road, Lincoln! I have just moved to the area and it's great to have a pub like this within walking distance. The food is great, I had a Wagyu burger which I've wanted to try for a while but it's the first time I've seen it for sale and my partner had the chicken and mushroom pie. Both were great and the service was equally as impeccable, we'll definitely be returning.

Quality of food = 4* Imaginative menu = 1* Speed of service = 2* Friendliness of staff = 4* If you are a vegan remember to ask for the separate menu. The main menu does have one vegan option (written twice!). I would advise checking that you receive what you ordered, I am not confident that the staff know the menu well, for example one person telling me the chips were vegan, one that they were not. It took a long time for the table to be cleared before the pudding. Vegans seems to get the "vegetarian" option but with fruit instead of ice cream. It would be nice to have a smaller selection on the main menu as it seems overcomplicated, and some more "junk food" options for people who are vegan

First time we've been here and I can't fault the place, we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door, we were given a table near a lovely open fire and didn't have to move as the service was fantastic and the food just as good. This is our new favourite place to eat and will definitely visit again soon.

Friends booked a table by the window for the extra light (sight problems) and when they arrived found they'd been moved because a large party had been booked in. Food was tasty in the main.Cod delicious fresh and moist,chips tasted like frozen chips -so disappointing.Had a mini dessert .It was called spiced winter fruits crumble In reality it was apple crumble. The dining chair I sat on was badly marked/stained and should have been removed.I felt like leaving from that moment,but was with friends celebrating my birthday,so said nothing . On leaving, the footpath is unlit at night,to the car parking areas.I cockled over off the path onto the lower grass,because I could not see in the dark.I don't drink so that wasn't the cause.Night lights are needed along each side of the footpath.I won't be returning.

Very busy the night I went. Like many pubs there seems to be no real queuing system when ordering drinks or meals at the bar. But have to say the food came relatively promptly, everything on the menu was available and cooked perfectly. Lovely setting and lovely service however roast potatoes had been cooked and then reheated, the chips we not crispy. The meat was lovely. The crackers with the cheese and biscuits were like dog biscuits, where is the cream crackers and water biscuits. It's not an alacarte menu, doesn't need fancy. Good basic is what's needed. No butter served with the biscuits either. Deserts not bad but creme brulee was to firm, almost cheesecake consistency.

Had 2 meals, both were lovely. Nicest steak i've had in Lincoln for years. My Daughter had the Hunter's Chicken-there was so much she couldn't finish the gammon. The only downside was the pepper sauce which wasn't very nice. We had two really nice drinks. Courteous staff and lovely atmosphere. Looking forward to our next meal. I gave you 4 stars and not 5 because of the pepper sauce-otherwise, it was perfect. Thanks guys.

Our party of four all thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had at the Swanholme on Doddington road. The main meal was served quickly but there was a considerable time between them giving us the sweet menu and actually coming back to take the order. Otherwise a good evening out.

A friend took me here and was looking forward to it as they said it was great food and a really good place all round ,.Things didn't start well as the had no record of my friends booking ,it turned out to be no a major problem as there was plenty of tables still to choose from .we were encouraged to use the order online app and as with all these apps it takes some setting up the first time and in my opinion takes away from the experience of dining out .after several minutes of strugling with it we got the manager over and he took our order .the initial waitress that brought or drinks was very helpful and polite and very good at her job.the food came in a reasonable time and was above average chain pub type food ,i had been led to believe that it was all good home cooked and made on site but it did not seem that way ,it was nice but no individuality that you can get with good food crafted on site .After we had finished our meal we were asked if we would like a desert ,we declined, as we had had sufficient meal but was then made to feel a little rushed by another waitress who kept on asking if we would lime the bill after a few times i settled up and was told i could order more if i wanted .it all sempt as if we were being invited to leave ,this i could have understood if all the tables were full and it was needed. Shame really a lovely pub in a nice lakeside setting and i feel could be so much more ,i understand the challenges that the current situation of reopening and staffing levels has presented, i myself had 10 years running pulic houses- restaurants.firts impressions are very important and unfortunate this fell a little short .i will return in tbe future as i would live for this pub and all others to thrive ,hopefully my experience will be taken on board and used to improve the all over customer experience good luck to the Swan holme in the future.
