Reviews of Allerton Hall - Dining & Carvery
R. G.
Good family pub with a stately grandure (in a former manor house), located in the park with good sized pub gardens, off road parking & loads of outside seating.
Only came in for a drink & ended up staying for a meal, the Carvery looked too good not to try.
Stacy the duty managed fitted us in, even though they where busy.
The Carvery was faultless & my.wifes meal from the main menu, arrived hot & very tasty.
Would recommend, but probably best to book ahead if your wanting a meal to get a table & avoid disappointment.
R. F.
Went for family meal with in laws. Steak undercooked for medium rare and edge fat unchewable. Beer battered fish 50% batter. Chips a mix with some obviously re-cooked. Drinks not cheap. Price ok for standard of food. Great old building and staff very good but would not go again.
Edit - A reply was received from the management which also shows the great customer service experienced. I did not post my review while still at the venue as suggested alas as there was very limited internet access inside the building.

Amazing place, fabulous food, lovely staff. Back again next Sunday! 😁
Yes Sarah....We had burger meal and also the Scampi plus Ice cream Sundaes. We also planned our wedding reception with you guys...thank you so much for helping and relieving my stress!! Can't wait for my special day now! X

We came on the Saturday of Easter weekend and had a lovely time! We enjoyed looking around the little market stalls, the kids did the Easter egg hunt and received an Easter egg at the end from Sarah, and then we had food which didn’t take long to be served, came all at the same time and was good value as well as being enjoyed by the whole family. Kids then played in the park area afterwards. Managed to get a good half a day out of the visit as so much to do! Lovely building too! Will be coming again ☺️
M. K.
Absolutely wonderful staff from start to finish. The lady who greeted us at the door was super friendly, bar staff lovely and very informative as we were asking questions about those lovely cakes for sale. The chef who served up our meat was also lovely. The place was spotless, the food was delicious and it’s such a beautiful building especially of an evening. Who needs ‘toby Carvery’ when you can come here. Thank you 🙏
M. C.
We booked a table for 10 people. Soon we walked in the gentleman at the entrance took the name down and said we need the table by 3pm. That's all he was interested.
Next we took the tickets for the carvery the chef was very rude. I didn't know if I was to have the vegetarian option should mention to the bar when I got the ticket.
It's nothing to shout about. If it takes 5 or 10 minutes just let the person know about it.
Very disappointed about some of the staff attitudes. We all had a very uncomfortable lunch.
S. M.
Absolutely amazing!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Staff friendly, happy, smiling, welcoming and much more. The food was spot on, and potions aren’t small either. The price also fair and not to expensive. Such a friendly place felt welcome as soon as we came in. Every staff member had a smile on their face. Will definitely be back :D
M. A. L.
Our first , but not our last visit here.
The staff were professional, friendly and attentive.
The food was hot, good varied selection , sensibly priced and plentiful .
Should fill up those with a hearty appitite.
We look forward to visiting again .

Went for work Christmas lunch, food was lovely, service was great, staff very friendly and attentive, nice atmosphere,
K. S.
Hit and miss here, food depends on what chef is working, some good, some not so good. Usually food is great I do think it is in need of a refurbishment though. Staff lovely and parking facilities
E. H.
Great price, amazing food especially with the cakes. Our server Jan was incredible with our kids and nothing was too much for her, she is a credit to your team.
L. M.
Nice place, friendly staff, breakfast was not as hot as it should be, the hot water for tea is awkward for people with problems with their hands. Milk jug is very heavy. But still nice place. Will try the Carvery next time
M. K.
I'm not a fan of carvery generally but I have to say I really enjoyed it here. Staff were lovely, food was great and plentiful.Clean and bright We'll go again
J. R.
Excellent service Excellent food, All staff were so nice, Sarah, Claire, Brian, Chase, Elysian, Dan, Daniel so many I could mention they can't do enough for you, hence why we continue to return.
P. T.
Usually great but carvery cold today told staff but no manager came over .On the plus side amazing cakes
j. G.
Love this place, come here all the time best roast dinner, always has lots of veg to choose from x
C. M.
Nice pub based in an old manor near a lovely park. It’s primary a carvery that but serves other meals too. It has a huge outdoor seating area with kids playground.
The best thing about this place is the huge homemade cakes that one slice can feed a family of four. Make sure to try the carrot cake.
M. H.
Quiet and wanted to shut ASAP however could understand why. Staff member was quick to pour a pubt without asking which one . Never had that before tbh
b. m.
Was put next to a very hot radiator on the hottest day so far and couldn't be seated any where else but apart from this the fish and chips were excellent and the staff very nice.
R. S. G.
Beautiful building and interior design! The staff is friendly. The food really delicious. It was my first visit but definitely going back soon with family. Thanks for the experience
t. m.
Sit indoors or outside, dog friendly outside. Good menu that caters for most. Staff are friendly and helpful.
T. S.
Nice place for a family meal. The carvery is good, plenty of veg options. When we arrived it was late in the day and the beef had all gone so only saw the turkey and gammon but both were delicious. An assistant manager, was manning the meat carvery by this point and wasn't particularly generous with the meat, my mother in law only got 3 wafer thin slices of meat but I asked for a proper portion and she obliged.
The cake station is insanely good, huge portions of cake that easily do 3 or 4 people and the flavours are amazing. If you visit you have to check it out.
There is a small kids play area which is great as it keeps the little ones occupied and is enclosed, can only be accessed from the pub so good and safe.
Service was good on the whole but a bit hectic as it was the end of a busy Saturday. Only criticism is the lady who was clearing our area was in a bit of a rush to take all of our plates even though we weren't finished on more than one occasion, presumably because it was so busy, yet then would stay and chat with people so she can't have been that busy I guess.
It's good for what it is and would happily come again.
J. J.
Lovely place for a bite to eat! Really friendly staff, the carvery is great and the function room is ideal too.
A. l. L.
We ordered a Sunday roast and really enjoyed it! The food was amazing of good quality and quantity. Highly recommended." 1000%
M. D.
Service was brilliant, food was lovely really enjoyed it. I haven't been here for a while due to a bad experience but after last night I'll be going again. The staff where friendly and very helpful so made the experience even better.
P. C.
This was a private venue, and we had a few rooms, very clean, staff helpful, plenty of parking as it is set in its own grounds.
We had buffet style food, excellent, with hot drinks if required.
Nice layout and would highly recommend for private functions.
J. E. b. D.
Lovely old hall with lots of character, very good value carvery ,and lots of other meal options.
V. H.
Excellent, had the carvery.... Which was lovely, piping hot, help yourself to all the veggies and gravy.
Staff were very helpful and attentive.
We sat in the conservatory side, really nice outlook onto the grounds.
Enjoyed our visit. Thank you
P. S.
Beautiful place found by mistake had a lovely carvery will be back
P. L.
Lovely building set inside a park. The carvery, fish and chips and lasagne are really tasty, big portions and good value. Service is good, too. As this type of chain pub/restaurants go, it's probably the best one I've been to, so far.
J. M.
Had a lovely lunch today. Staff were attentive and went above and beyond. Dairy free menu available . Thank you. Will definitely return
E. B.
All the family attended Breakfast with Santa. The whole experience was incredible. Wonderful setting, excellent food and wonderfully attentive friendly staff. We cannot wait for the same event next year❤️❤️
J. W.
Had a carvery, was lovely fresh and hot. Service and staff was excellent. Will be going again . ❤
F. S.
Didn't look too busy but waited ages for our meals. My grandsons burger came without the cheese and trimmings and my battered fish was disgusting.
S. D.
Very nice staff. Two of us had the gammon which was delicious, and the other in our group just had a couple of starters which he enjoyed.
A. L.
Been going several years staff very helpful eat in sometimes but had a takeaway every Saturday best curry around, recommend it 100%👍
S. M.
Recently refurbished and I must say it looks really nice, plus the menu is spot on with a great selection of deserts that can be taken away.
J. W.
Previously know as 'the pub in the park'
A beautiful building with a warm interior that tells a story of its history.
Food is nice and they have a little swing park for the children.
M. S.
Great location with fantastic staff
Try the carvery which was delicious and then leave with cake-away
You want be disappointed 😁
S. H.
Always get a decent meal when you dine here. Wide variety of dishes to choose from that cater to all tastes.
D. K.
Lovely early evening carvery with family. Food excellent and plentiful. Staff are so helpful and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Great for families or a quieter meal on the other side of restaurant. Beautiful setting too.
Would recommend.
M. D.
Lovely building, and a great indoor restaurant, not had a meal yet, but the carvery looked great.
S. A.
Nice very reasonable price carvery style breakfast. Some item a bit over cooked
.staff pleasant and hwlpful
S. A.
Food was delicious and plenty of choice on carvery .
Lovely place aswell
J. C.
Great place to go.. Never fails and always enjoy the food. The Kids love it too. Clean played all round. They can burn off the sugar from the delicious desserts on the park 😂
Staff are friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. All doing amazing job under the current restrictions etc.
T. S.
I’ve never had a problem with this place. Always enjoyed it and staff have always been good.
J. J.
Amazing... the building is amazing with pics inside about its history, the staff are friendly & the food was fantastic would recommend for date night or food with the kids.
I. B.
This restaurant has much improved from our last visit. It is now under new management and the dining experience is much better now serving hot food and a choice of the biggest gateaux I've seen.
J. F.
Sat out front with dogs and had a drink, very nice way to end walk at Clark's Gardens
L. c.
Food was really hot and was lovely bbq sauce. Was a good portion for the price.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Carried our drinks to the table and my niece was able to get out soft drinks. It meant alot. Not been for a long time. So much choice took us ages to decide. Thank you.
We were there from about 5 till 7 on Thursday. Bar and waiting staff were a credit.
Definatly see you soon.
C. P.
Been here once before and enjoyed it but tonight it was a bit shabby. Staff were very tired and overworked so distracted and a bit rude. Salmon not cooked, replaced it no problem but took so long my son had finished his meal. Apology a bit half arsed and no compensation offered. Probably won't go back, shame ☹
P. o.
We had a wake for my brother buffet good room excellent location excellent staff lovely nothing was a problem. We have used greene King pubs and hotels throughout the country always great places food accommodation and staff.
M. H.
This was our first visit to Allerton hall, what a cool place.
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, beautifull food and a warm welcoming atmosphere,
Cons: None.
Cant believe this gem existed and we didnt know about it. Thanks for a great experience, we'll be back.
S. H.
We went here for our wedding reception today. It was absolutly beautiful 🤩.The food was lovely and reasonably priced.
S. W.
Very nice carvery lunch. Everything cooked really well and staff very helpful.
J. B.
Had a catch up with friends on the 1st day we were allowed in. 🤣🤣 Didn't disappoint, food was lovely, staff courteous and friendly and prices very reasonable and not jumped up ridiculously due to covid. Only downside was new top was ruined due to snagging on staple??? on edge of table. Staff sorted it straight away and left with huge slice of Carrot cake that daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks, will definitely be back.
G. D.
Good food, waiting time for food a bit long, staff polite.
J. H.
Lovely place. Food is really good. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. I can't thank them enough. Very knowledgeable about the history of the building as well.
G. K.
We went for a meal tonight, with my daughter and 3 friends. The food was gorgeous, very friendly, helpful staff.
We will definitely will be back, and also recommended my family to go.
Thankyou so much for a lovely night.

Went out for a lovely meal this evening, the food was excellent and our waiter Jamie was an excellent help. I couldn't work out how to use the track and trace on my phone and he was very helpful without being condescending. He even helped me to find the name of the wallpaper and the supplier, thanks so much
A. F.
Friendly staff, great service, lovely food will be going again .
h. j.
Lovely food equally lovely building gorgeous surroundings
H. L.
It was lovely, we were there for my Dad's wake. But the staff and the food were lovely.
M. J.
Came here with my 2 children and partner, we had a delicious meal, all staff were friendly and polite.
Well organised especially with covid.
Kids really enjoyed it and so did we, can't wait to come back.
B. C.
WED 5TH JAN catered for a funeral from start to finish showed compassion and help ,catering and staff professional and caring nothing to much trouble .
P. T.
This is a great pub in a lovely stately home. The food is very good, and was served by friendly staff. We all had to sit outside as Covid rules didn't allow indoor dining, but even a drop of rain couldn't spoil a very enjoyable afternoon.
D. J.
The mid-week carvery was everything we hoped it would be. A great selection so everyone has their faves and meats cooked perfectly. Will def be back!
Y. J.
Been here previously no problem but today. Was not a good experience.. Had to order through an app which had to be downloaded and was not easy to navigate.. Some people left as could not download the app.. Not good for older customers who may not be phone savvy.. Ordered chips which took ages to arrive.. Had dog with us.. No water in bowl it was empty.. Did ask for some but never arrived.. A lady at the next table kindly gave us a bottle of water.. Staff were a bit rude
T. B.
Beautiful place . Excellent service and choice of food. I love the ambiance and would definitely recommend the Carvery.
L. L.
Couldn't fault the food or service at all!
Amazing! thoroughly enjoyed.
c. t.
Food well priced.loads of space between tables.use the app and food and drink brought to table.well worth a visit!
G. R.
Accomdated so well for our big group. Carvery was lovely and puddings AMAZING. Will defo go again.
N. D.
A great place to eat, this time it was a carvery and was well worth the money, a must visit
S. T.
The service was good. But the food was not that great.
D. C.
Nice food,staff were polite
M. J.
Staff very helpful, clean and tidy, very hygienic. Food was fresh and hot. Only criticism is there wasnt a great selection of veg with the carvery.
E. D.
Lovely place, we come here often. Food always fantastic. Would normally give 5 stars but on our visit last weekend what appeared to be staff who had finished their shift were all sat drinking and being very loud whilst sat amongst other diners trying to enjoy their meals, was very off-putting. They were eventually moved to another area but the damage was done. Also service was inadequate, different waiting staff each time and just not on the ball at all. Disappointing!
R. C.
good food good atmosphere, great staff, ring for available rooms if big party. otherwise you can just turn up.free parking. kids play area enjoy
J. J.
Had a fabulous breakfast with my husband very helpful and polite staff was well looked after by Char never disappointed when I come here for breakfast or carvery. Thanks to all staff Phil and Stacey make u very welcome too and the lovely roast potatoes made by Mark always perfect
S. V.
Lovely setting, atmosphere, varied menu & reasonable prices. Waited 45 mins for our food but to be fair to the staff it was very busy & you can relax whilst waiting! Friendly staff.
L. W.
Service here was really good. Food come out quite fast. The chicken sharer was hot and tasty, I opted for the mixed grill for my main meal and wasn't best pleased with it to be honest. The meal wasnt very hot and the pork steak tasted a bit funny, was told it was fresh in however it did not taste it. Very glad it was the 50% off as I wouldn't have liked to have paid full price for it I only ate the gammon and sausage off it. Hopefully it was just a one off. I will comment on the huge desserts. They are well worth the money paid and taste delicious!!
D. C.
Excellent food, reasonable price, friendly staff.
M.
Nice enough drinks and prompt service, but went with friends who ordered fish & chips they waited nearly an hour, no update or reason given which was very disappointing, the place was quiet, so they must be short on staff in kitchen
M. G.
Had very enjoyable family meal. Plenty of choice and very good value. Staff were cheerful and very helpful. Portions were genorous on the main meals so couldn't face a dessert at the time but the cake display on the way out was difficult to walk past so we gave in and got 3 different cake portions to take home. Good decision. Will definitely go back.
G. P.
Reasonable service unfortunately there isn't any provision to stay after your allotted time I.e for funerals, not allowed to stay if yo just want a quiet drink
R. L.
Food was a bit disappointing. Staff were nice.
S. S.
Great value carvery. Lovely old building.
C.
Came here for my boyfriends birthday, as he loves carverys and not many are open at the moment. The food was amazing and despite not being able to pick out your carvery food yourself due to covid, the experience wasn't dampened by this. A lively male waiter with black hair, who made great conversation, came over and asked us what we would like and wouldn't like so each roast was personalised. Over all the experience was a win for me and I have recommended it to my mum, she likes roasts.
J. L.
My first time was today lovely food staff very nice enjoyed myself beautiful building 👍
C. K.
Beautiful venue. The staff are fabulous and efficient. The menu is lacking in many way though, there are too many options and it's cheap quality. The pizza is a cheap microwave pizza which was a shame. I would recommend a more streamlined menu with high quality local produce.
A. A.
Really beautiful place! Their desserts look amazing. I haven't had any so can't say about how they taste but they are enormous! My bacon and cheese burger was cheap and ok, I've definitely had much better burgers in other places.
e. r.
Lovely old rustic place great atmosphere great food good pricing
H. B.
Lovely clean and spacious , they observe the Covid do's and don'ts Which was good to see. Staff very smart and helpful and food was delicious, I have no hesitation in recommending the Allerton Hall to any one.
d. h.
Enjoyed a pleasant evening meal here this Sunday vegetables were a little too hard for me but the flavours of the roast were really nice and i've got to say absolutely lovely staff couldnt do enough for us esp Shauna she was fab the rest of the meals were lovely will definately come back thank you x
G. C.
We visit Allerton hall quite regularly and it never disappoints! They have a very good Covid plan in place and I feel very comfortable eating out here during this pandemic. The Roast dinners are amazing! And the staff are very friendly and helpful. 100% recommend
S. M.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and welcoming. All working very hard in very hard and scary times. Would definitely recommend
M. R.
Nice location and staff friendly.
But definitely not enough staff to handle the volume of people.
This lead to long delays in ordering food and it being served.
The food itself is very cheap and fairly good for pub grub. Certainly worth what you pay for.
As part of this chain there are huge cakes and wide selection of ice creams which does make it a great place for kids, if only to didn't have to wait so long it could have scored higher.
J. R.
Great place setting. Food was spot on and the staff friendly thanks
G. B.
Great breakfast ,just what you want to start the day . Nice relaxing atmosphere. Staff helpful and really pleasant .
c. f.
Unfortunately carvery dry been standing under light too long
P. J.
Lovely surroundings with a good choice of menu. The carvery had lots to choose from too and the food was piping hot and very tasty. Very reasonably priced and they catered for our large family party at short notice. The cakes and desserts looked amazing! Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. All in all I would definitely be going back to Allerton Hall Farm.
R. C.
We had a festive lunch a few days before Christmas. Food was decent quality. Portions were large, especially the cakes. In fact they were obscene. I've never been served such a large piece of cake. Service was a little slow but it was a busy Christmas lunch so to be expected . Lovely building.
C. P.
An elegant place to dine. Varied selection on the Menu.
Very friendly staff.
Will be coming again with friends very soon.
J. B.
Great service and great food! Staff are always lovely and hospitable
H. C.
Allerton Hall staff you are amazing!
I cannot thank you enough for keeping me calm and tending to my wounds when I turned up at your door bleeding & needing help yesterday, after breaking up a dog fight in the park.
On this occasion I wasn't a customer (although I do eat here often as the food is fantastic & I dream about the cakes lol) but I was still treated with care and compassion. I was going into shock and Stacey kept me calm and kept chatting to me while she dressed the wounds. Human kindness at its finest! Stacey, you are wonderful!
Thanks again for all that you did & I will be in for some of your delicious food soon xxxxx
A. C.
Excellent service and wonderful staff thank you for a fantastic afternoon the cobourne family
T. m. e. e. p. v.
Very kind staff, especially, the assistant manager, Char, sorry if I got the name wrong, she always makes us feel welcome, even though it was our second time. And then the waiters are really helpful, they always help me with my pram up/down the stairs.
It is always nice to come with kids where I'm welcome and not the opposite. Food is fantastic too.
T. S.
We had a farewell to my late mum here. We're a small family so I hired the library room, which holds around 20. I also chose a buffet, with tea and coffee. The room was lovely, well laid out and cosy. The buffet was delicious and the staff amazing. The only reason I didn't give 5 stats was because there was no alternative to dairy milk available and my youngest and I are intolerant. With hindsight, I should have made them aware when booking but wasn't thinking straight in light of the circumstances. I still feel that an alternative should be available as standard. That is the only negative. Oh... And before you leave you must buy a cake. I can't indulge but they look {and apparently taste} fantastic.
S. L.
Food and service as always...fabulous. The staff are friendly, professional and always available.
J. l.
We stopped by for something to drink on our Sunday walk. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. They had measures in place for social distancing which was reassuring. The Guinness was cold and tasty, my first pub pint since lockdown was imposed. I was mightily tempted by the cakes on display, but behaved myself.
J. T.
Met up with friends and enjoyed a nice meal and a few drinks.
S. B.
We where there on Thursday, it was our first time but most certainly not our last. The carvery was delicious. P meat was cooked beautifully moist and tender. They have a great choice of potatoes five different ways and a whole array of different vegetables. All the staff were lovely but a special mention for Rob Kitchen/ Food Manager who was helping out checking cakes in the fridge when my friend and I arrived-it was refreshing to see a manager out on the floor helping out and supporting staff when they were busy, very much 'leadership by example'. The building is beautiful and the setting is wonderful given it is a park Clarke Gardens.
A. D.
Lovely place to go myself and to friends went there today my friends enjoyed there meals but mine given me belly aches i had gammon will still eat there again might of been bit off toda lovely staff and very welcome
J. J.
Took my Mum for lunch, absolutely beautiful carvery. By far the best We've had. It was quite busy but staff were great and chef really helpful and polite. Will definitely be going back soon.
D. C.
Went in on the off chance was only going to have a drink ended up having a sandwich it was lovely and came with chips so ended up as a full meal but worth it and a reasonable price
K. W.
Booked a table to have lunch with my daughter, the service and food were great but the outdoor tables were very rusty and really need replacing...when your going for a nice meal it's not what you'd expect and if I'm honest I've thrown better furniture away...sorry to say this
E. O.
Good carvery. The ultimate drink is way too much but worth going for for the challenge. Staff are always nice. They do run out of the types of meat available some times but it's never bothered me.
R. D.
We were attending a funeral. We thought the " buffet," was that " just a buffet, not acceptable. My apologies to the staff
J.
Been here twice now for funeral wakes...
Lovely surroundings and food...
I. H.
Great pub fair. Good for small functions too.
S. N.
Friendly staff and a lovely pub. They have full nutritional information on the entire menu, and in particular have a gluten free menu and are happy to make changes to accommodate any needs or requirements that you may want. Would definitely recommend; even the desserts are fantastic and have a huge variety - from home made cakes to their ice cream parlour :)
D. W.
Service was sadly quite slow & it wasn't even busy. Carvery could have been hotter,at least the weather was good!
C. T.
It's been a while since we last went, it's now bigger, better and lots more food. They now do a good carvery with lots of different veg, not 5 a day !! it's 10 a day !!!
Very good value for money.
Manager was lovely as usual,
Staff, very, very pleasant..
J. H.
Definitely going back here it's beautiful and great menu's lovely staff
L. H.
Meal and service good except waiting time for childs meal took too long and the adults had finished their meal by the time the childs meal arrived which was way to hot for 1yr old to eat straightaway.
P. I.
Lovely carvery everything well cooked 😊
a. w.
Couldn't fault the staff for squeezing us in or the lovely building but the food on the carvery was a let down for my OH. Generously portioned from the size of it but my OH said the meat was chewy, his roasties were burnt and the food wasn't very warm. He was a bit disappointed at the standard of the food and he's a man who is easily pleased with food!
A. J.
For a pub that's situated inside a park, your really would think they would allow dogs on leads in all outside areas. Taking money out of their own pockets restricting dogs to the very shady front of the building.
S. J.
All-round great place. Food was lovely and portions are plentiful. Staff are spot on. Love the ordering on APP..
B. P.
Great place nice food especially the Sunday dinner staff and management really helpful
m. d.
Perfect place to go. Nice people and the Area is great. Food really tasty, and size of IT wow , big cheesecake and ice cream.5 stars

We just had an amazing meal at Allerton. Food was very fresh and very nice but what really made the difference is customer service. Very nice where nothing is too much trouble. The waitress (i think her name is Erin if I noticed weel on the badge) was very welcoming and helpful. Erin, you are a role model for all the restaurants staff. Thank you and we definitely will be back soon.

2019 Im updating this post as they have turned things around at this place, we love it, food is now tasty and well priced, carvery is best anywhere! 2018 Fantastic Staff, they really are a credit to the place, just a shame they have to be the front for below average food. Anything in batter was overcooked to the point of soaking up so much grease, burgers overcooked too, and running out of Chocolate ice cream on a Saturday evening....come on!!! Such a shame for a fabulous building and as I've said the very credible staff.
T. H.
Good food and a nice atmosphere
L. F.
Fresh Sunday Carvery, lovely little outdoor walk afterwards. Good service!
S. D.
Ordered 2 carvery's for delivery and I must say they were packed perfectly and absolutely delicious/ will be definitely ordering again 5 stars from us...
B. W.
Had a Beautiful meal with friends, the carvery was lovely and the prices are Great but couldn't handle the Sweet so they put it in a box for you to take home it was so big we had One between us for supper.
The price was so good that we Are looking forward to going back for more, you get your money's worth the only problem we had is we couldn't get on the WiFi...
M. F.
Great carvery with a great menu, plenty of space and nice rooms , lovely surroundings for a walk after your meal.
k.
Love the setting of Allerton Hall. I was a bit disappointed, I am disabled and when we arrived the bollards restricting you to drive to the entrance were up, so had to walk down from them. Granted it's not a long way but when you are in pain and can't walk far anyway it matters.
Once we were in the service was great and attentive. On ordering the food they never had a couple of meals we wanted (ran out). We changed meals and when they came they were nice enough 😀
K. “. R. R.
We were greeted and shown to our table.
I went to bar to place our order. The lovely Rachel served me with a smile. Really pleasant young lady, she made sure our order was correct and even helped me carry the drinks back to our table.
The food server (young gentleman) was also very pleasant and friendly.
Lovely meals - One carvery, one Chicken Tikka Masala and one Scampi. All beautifully cooked and served.
Very nice evening.
My friend took four amazing cakes home!
Would go again.
J. T.
We booked for Mother’s Day unfortunately due to having to close, we where offered carvery takeaway instead, which was ideal considering the circumstances we’re all in, food was hot and tasted fantastic, the staff here are very welcoming and friendly too, you guys have made our day perfect. Thank you and see you all soon.
G. W.
Friendly staff, great food, ideal play area Pirate ship for kids, great garden in the sun. Good value for money. I will defo go again soon x
m. c.
Me and my family have been here quite a few times and have our christmas night out booked too! We love it here, the carvery is insane and beats any other! Oh and the deserts are to die for cnanot get enough of those big tasty cakes! 😍always satisfied here and never had a problem the staff are so lovely and welcoming. Thank you
B. A.
Great food and friendly staff especially lord farquaad
G. S.
Lovely helpful staff, clean & covid safety measures in place
a. p.
One of my fave places to eat in liverpool. Love it,always fresh and tastes lovely and great service
M. H.
Visited for the first time today, the carvery was lovely and the staff here are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely be coming back.
S. b.
The food was decent I would go back if the food was the only draw. However some staff were quit rude and not very accommodating to us and this spoiled our family Sunday lunch. So for this reason only three stars. This has the potential to be a really great venue but customer service is all part of the deal.
J. B.
Paid a visit for lunch on Thursday with my husband and two elderly couple in their 90's. The staff could not have been more helpful and caring towards our elderly friends even though they were very busy. There was a good selection on the menu, plus a carvery and desserts to die for . Definitely will be back
C. W.
We visited Allerton Hall yesterday + were immediately made very welcome by a lovely male member of staff who showed us to our table. We then went to the carvery + along with the gorgeous choice of meats had a vast selection of delicious vegetables to choose from. We were served by wonderful Michelle who was most helpful + friendly. We would recommend our dining experience to all. Next time we visit we r going to try the fabulous cake range. Thank you again. xxx
R. R.
Decent food reasonably priced
P. G.
The ambiance is lovely. I had chicken skewers and salad. About a third of the chicken wasn't properly cooked and the salad was turning brown. My friend had almost cold corn on the cob which also was on the turn. Sad because the potential of the restaurant is favourable.
S. S.
Usually really lovely food. Had a tex-mex burger with beef instead of chicken. The bread tasted stale and the burger was very gritty. I would not get this again. However, staff are ways very friendly and the carvery is perfect.
L. C.
Great service and friendly staff and great food. But an hour after I reviewed we went for the Carvery and they had turned the table off 15 minutes early. Was on when we walked in and by the time we got to the bar was off. We ended up leaving!
L. G.
Been here a few times and it has always satisfied me and my family, we only live 2 minutes away so are in here a lot. Our fave place and the carvery is to die for!! Oh and can’t forget the deserts 😍 never had a problem here!

Updated review March 19:
Carvery vastly improved since previous visit, only 1 Mixed Grill but it was excellent. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Original review Nov 18:
Carvery not great on this occasion and once again the Mixed Grill wasn't available (on a wednesday) and diet coke draft was empty. Very hit and miss lately with food quality which is a shame as the location, staff and outdoor areas are lovely.
A. D.
This place has really upped it's game since I last visited. Food was really good and nice selection of drinks too. Didn't order any cake but there's always a queue for it so I imagine they're also really good. Plenty of space outside in the 2 beer gardens and the surrounding park is beautiful
D. P.
Excellent carvery options with good selection of veg. Also have the biggest cakes I've ever seen. 1 slice at £3.99 is big enough for 4 people to share after a carvery. Good prices too.
C.
Such friendly hardworking staff. Great menu, great surroundings and very good value.
J. S.
Good feeling food at a very reasonable price.
Carvery is just the best and a lovely calm atmosphere
J. C.
Went here for coffee and their famous cake. I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality of the food and drink but the service needs some serious attention. It should not take 25 minutes to serve two slices of cake.
R. B.
First time to this area and wasn't disappointed.. very clean, lovely staff. Everything ordered from app. Dinner great.
L. C.
Delicious carvery, great selection set in a beautiful park.
A. R.
Been here a number of times but last visit was very unimpressed with the food tasted as though it had all been cooked at the same time starter very nice and hot mains was as if it had been just under a heat lamp or something alot of it was cold. Considering its just recently been taken over wasn't impressed with first impressions but hopefully will be better on next visit don't want to be put off because every other visit has been impeccable.
k. f.
Recently came here for breakfast
food was lovely and staff were very friendly...I was very impressed with how some firemen were treated they had nipped in for a coffee while on duty the manager refused for them to pay and to choose a cake to go with it,which I thought was a lovely gesture.
S. R.
Just called in here for coffee and cake after visiting the crematorium next door. Amazing place top service Will definitely be calling back.
D. R.
Very nice place tucked away within clarkes gardens, great place to go for good and walk it off in surrounding areas with great car parking facilities also. Menu is great and has good variety from carveries to curry's. The wait time can vary quiet heavily so don't go if in a pinch for time.
P. G.
Great atmosphere. Exercellent service. Carvery is amazing an cakes r out of this world.
N. B.
Would have been a better rating if they'd had fans by the tables.
Food and surroundings nice but far to warm! They need to invest in some fans. Apparently they can't have Aircon fitted as the building is old?! According to one of their staff.
P. A.
Lovely setting and staff helpful. Food decent, but fairly standard pub offering.
L. L.
Staff were friendly and polite...
Food was lovely, cakes were amazing only downfall was a lot of the cakes were unavailable because of the eat out to help out deals, we had gone the day after (Thursday) so limited to cakes which was a shame. Beutiful building with lots of history, we will be coming back especiallyater in the evening to get the feel of the old house.

The pub has changed hands recently and is under new management. The pub has had a refurbishment and the indoor children's play area is now a dining room.
The menu is varied and food arrived piping hot which is a mass improvement on our previous visit. The pub also has a carvery, I've cream bar and a selection of the largest gateux I've ever seen.
For those if you with small family members. There is a large children's play area which is all fenced off with lots of tables and chairs where you can also eat and drink.
I was reluctant to go back to this pub but credit where credit is due, the changes made to this venue are a mass improvement.
z. d.
Really friendly staff. Great quality food. Beautiful building. Great atmosphere.
A. P.
Excellent value and fab food
P. B.
Very good value breakfast in a lovely location.....Will definitely visit again soon
C. L.
Great food and friendly staff. Value for money. Would definitely recommend going. Book before you go though as it can get really busy.
A. B.
Just been and the food was AMAZING. We got the carvery because why wouldn’t you 🤔😉. Service was lovely and the supervisors face was painted as a bunny 🤣. Will be back again but PLEASE makesure you guys have cheesecake next time to cake away 🤬. I ain’t marking you down for that though. Highly recommend this place
K. L.
The best carvery I have had in a long time, lovely atmophere and helpful staff, just what you need on a wet miserable Sunday. Love the improved version of this place, great variety of food with the bonus of cake away.
A. B.
Decent pub grub, few stand out meals including the fisherman's supper. Great cake, great value, friendly staff. Best bit is the walk you can take around the grounds after your meal.
J. M.
Not for those without a smart phone or an older (full) smart phone like mine. Food ok, ordered on my partners phone, staff friendly enough and helpful
R. D.
Nice food staff very helpful
c. g.
Visited here after my mums funeral at Allerton cemetary for family gathering. Its a really lovely place and they catered for our needs. We didnt eat here but the staff were so accommodating and helpful. We're not from that end of the city but i would love to go again and try the food which looked fabulous! Would definately recommend a visit, its in beautiful grounds !
L. B.
Food is fantastic. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Love coming here! Would definitely recommend it.
J. H.
Not too bad, dad didn't like it so much but friend & myself did, but friend wanted the fish & chips but was advised that the fish was frozen so would take an hour so selected the carvery instead I had the all day breakfast which I really enjoyed
m. h.
Lovely place,lovely food lovely staff.
W. L.
I’ve cakes and ice cream selection. Great out door play arena . Brilliant for the summer
M. W. (.
Enjoyable place. Can get very busy at times with few staff so be patient. I have always ordered from menu so cannot comment on carvery. On the whole it is a nice place to spend the afternoon having lunch.
C.
Came here Sunday 03/02/19 with family. Was very busy, but of a wait at carvery, but got to say was worth waiting for, everything was hot and very tasty. Cakes are big too
T. M.
Great food, great prices. The portions are generous and everything was hot. I was shocked with how big the desert selection was. The kids loved the play area too, great place to spend the day.
G. S.
Good food but the service, in terms of number of people behind the bar, leaves a lot to be desired.
This leads to big, and I mean BIG, queues of people waiting to be served and the two bar staff asking "who's next".
Not good when its a hot day.
D. F.
Amazing food great staff great service will be back
L. H.
The range of food was good. However the meat selection was disappointing. The beef was dried up I asked the server to change it.. He aid he was unable to. The remaining meat on the joint was near the end of useability. I therefore had to have Gammon and Turkey.
G. M.
Came here with family and it was lovely. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sunshine out of the hassle and bustle of town and woolton village. Thank you
L. M.
Set in lovely grounds. Good choice of food and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful.
M. T.
Really rustic feel, drinks were wide and varied, nice menu not to pricey didn't have the carvery but looked very appetising.
C.
Some staff were very rude. I was told to ask our server for sauces, after our server had already left us to eat . While they stood Talkimg how ever theres a lady with glasses who every time we go talks and interacts with my daughter which makes it a great experience have aleays had a good time however this occasion was let down by a few staff members :(
K. M.
Nice for carvery other wise very busy on Sundays activity for the kids nice fenced in play area
l. c.
Has been recently decorated and taken over. We had a carvery which was nice but not very hot. I had to wait a while to get it and had to ask a member of staff if anyone was serving the meat.
D. R.
We did not book but only had coffees and shared a slice of cake. Book ahead the calvery smelt and looked deli ious lots of parking spaces.
w. c.
Good carvery with well cooked meats and vegetables. On the downside what seemed like half the menu was unavailable. Also avoid table #3, its right next to the door to the play area and freezing in cold weather.
K. P.
Nice food, beautiful setting and nicely decorated/cleaned. Wish there was more veggie options, not a lot to choose from. Cakes are amazing value and taste lovely.
W. J.
Great place to meet family and friends for good food. The cake's great too to take home . Not good for choices of alcohol free considering someone has to drive there. There's quite a few besides Becks blue.
m. j.
Lovely food , great staff , all covid precautions implemented even down to clean the chair legs when people leave , very safe. Recommended.
J. T.
Food was lovely plenty of choice. Staff very friendly nothing was to much trouble. Would highly recommend. Thank you Allerton hall
S. C.
Absolutely love this place. In the grounds of the park, beautiful stately house. From walking in to leaving the staff are fabulous. Cakes - leave space as there huge and gorgeous. This place is a credit to the new manager.
J. M.
Lovely place, cakes are fabulous . Will go back again:)
B. L.
Lovely place food was standard the carvery meat was nice the spuds and carrots where not great but enjoyed it will ge back soon
U. O.
Lovely place to eat, food and service was excellent, came with my grandchildren, would recommend to anyone.
s. t.
Fantastic place to eat and drink cheap as far as other restaurants charge.
C. A.
Amazing atmosphere and even better food! And the friendly staff helped wrap it into an experience that could rival Weatherspoons! (And that's not something I'd say lightly). Also Michelle's stuffing balls are the best!
k. k.
Hello.
Obviously a new place. The staff were all young and lacked confidence and were easily flustered.
Barman took our order. It wasn't anything too strenuous. 2 std carveries. 1 8oz steak. And a plain burger. Chips and beans. Meals arrived not long after I'd sat down with my carvery meal and beans were missing. I know I asked for them as my partner also heard me ask. I pulled a waiter who said there not on the bill so I would have to rejoin queue at bat just to get some. Yeah right. Like I would do that.
Asked for bbq sauce when asked if we would like any sauces and 2 minutes later he came back like a quivering jelly to tell us they don't do bbq sauce.
They need to train there staff better. I appreciate there probably on zero hours and there on minimum wages but they need to step up to the plate in such a busy establishment.
Might go again. Might not. But it's definitely better than the kingsman Toby carvery.
J. J.
Allerton Hall is a great place to visit the staff are brilliant the carvery is excellent and the kids have a lot of fun on the outside play area there is also a play area for the big kids on the field opposite the hall if you feel energetic the walk around the park is lovely try it for yourself you won't be disappointed
D. B.
Hi I'm daisy and I'm aged 10. I had the chicken wrapper and it was the most amazing meal in my entire life (and it came with free ice cream which is always good). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was absolutely the bestest thing ever that my taste buds had tasteded!
(Mum let me write the review)
P. R.
We had my mum's wake here as it is a venue we used regularly as mum loves it. Occasionally there is a chef who is rude and is not from Liverpool, he skimps on the meats, very abrupt, but the food is always good.
L. B.
Lovely old hall lots of history. Clean and friendly never got a chance to eat but the menu has a good choice and the food looked lovely will definitely go back and try 😉
Y. H.
Works Christmas Meal - Really enjoyed the food here on Sunday 11th December, my Steak was exactly has I ordered, the desert I had was Millionaires Brownie was big and too much just couldnt eat all of it. overall I was full, staff were great and food was good.
S. W.
Came here today with my daughter for lunch she had a Carvery looked so nice and she said it was delicious me and my hubby decided to stay for tea both had Carvery it was delicious great value for money ! Lovely friendly staff would recommend for a family day out !
M. X.
Good Carveries. Their Ultimate Deal was delicious, with Roasties, veg, good selection of meats and Yorkshire's but need more selection of lagers. Probably temporary due to COVID
N. T.
A beautiful old manor house surrounded by mature trees. Normally quick and non-fussy pub food with sometimes questionable customer service (I was once ignored for 15 minutes at the bar while the staff were talking to each other). It has a small playground outside and a soft play space inside which is perfect for preschool children making it a perfect location for family lunch.
M. P.
A perfect early afternoon Carvery. All staff were pleasant, bubbly, and professional and the food was excellent and enjoyed by all.
Will definitely go again.
J. T.
Lots of positives about allerton hall farm (popular carvery, fab building, lovely location, very kid-friendly) . Be good if either the real ale on tap was better, as it always tastes weird or there was more bottled ales, as newcastle brown was the only one. Maybe fill the big fridge and put the white wine in the smaller one
M. M.
Gorgeous food thank you always love Allerton Hall
J. L.
The staff couldn't have been any better, friendly curtious and the food was hot and tasty well worth the money. Will visit again xxxx
m. t.
Excellent the staff could not have been any more welcoming from stepping into the front door till going. bar staff the table severe even their table cleaners all polite excellent experience thank you
O. M.
Really is hit and miss on the the menu, either 10 or 2 just depends on the day,
Carvery is a bit of a poor effort, tiny overcooked roasties Yorkshire puds tasted doughy, lovely inside though,
J. P.
Allerton Hall was spot on the food was excellent I'd recommend to anyone such nice staff
G. M.
Usually go for breakfast which i love from here , but this time went with family on new years eve for a evening meal . Food was nice , staff were great , helpful and friendly and the cake aways are a must have for anyone .
S. G.
Lovely carvery, however, the Yorkshire pubs were very tough😭
L. R. (. m. a. v.
Amazing place . Staff and food we're both fantastic . Thanks guys for the excellent service
C. D.
The staff are lovely, friendly and funny. Although my steak wasn't so good my complaint was dealt with impeccably. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their food.
R. D.
Lovely place been coming yrs am impressed with the new look. Can't fault the staff very polite and helpful xxx one star as missed bread and butter once reminded my boyfriend's food was finished by time brought it xxx
A. A.
Had a brilliant and very tasty meal with family. Staff very attentive and polite. Will definitely coming back. Cakes out of this world
B. J. M.
highly stressed staff, Actually felt sorry for them! Tough times I know but there plenty of people looking for work at the minute no need to be short staffed! It affects everyone when theres poor customer service
C. K.
Me and my family always used to go here for family events which was a lot we all loved it, but new management has took over and wanting to charge 15 pounds an hour for a room which is ridiculous as nobody uses it anyway so they have lost our custom we haven't been back! Talk about money grabbing.
S. R.
I love the carvery here but the roast potatoes where awful 😫 they where all dried up, and I think you should open a gate so you don't need to walk through the bar to get out, having one way in and one way out is wrong in a lot of ways!!!!!
K. S.
Really lovely place to meet for something to eat, food was delicious and nice to know that the enormous cakes are made on the premises. Didn't have to wait long and staff were brilliant
s. h.
Lovely pub been hear a few times since refurbishment pub lovely well worth a visit
But last visit my husband had steak pudding very disappointed 4 pices of meat pastry very thick & dry mash very heavy .
Will go again but be careful what we order although carvery is lovely staff very frendly and wecoming xx
L. H.
We had a 40th year anniversary reunion celebration of our wonderful times at St Hilda's (actually 47 years since we started) at Allerton Hall Farm and we all 30 of us can not reiterate how absolutely wonderful all of the staff were but especially Charmaine, Daisy and Lewis, who could not do enough for us and were absolutely amazing. Everyone commented on them and please do thank them personally. We will definitely be back because of them. Love and thanks, Lynn and 29 more xxxx
A. M.
Great food, staff, service, atmosphere, a big improvement from the pubs previous owner, I would definitely go again, the only problem was the order was a bit wrong but it was easily resolved other than that great!
A. K.
It's a very nice place to go to for Sunday lunch, food great and the size of the pudding is amazing ,plus staff are very welcome, been there 3 time's now will be going back soon. 😀
K. P.
Lovely food, staff friendly but a bit annoying being passed from till to till to order. Would still reccomend and go back again, maybe once this Covid 19 pandemic is over with and everything is back to semi normal
J. S.
Goujon butty and chips, plus a pint 🍺
👍👍
P. M.
Decent menu, reasonable prices. Carvery is spot on. Set in lovely grounds with play area for kids outside. Very pleasant place to eat and drink

Relatively cheap place to eat in nice surroundings, food good staff too.
Was quite busy around 6pm, we didn't have the carvery but it seemed good value and looked delicious
E. A.
Food was very nice great atmosphere and staff are friendly, only thing was the brocoli was rock hard that's why not giving five stars. Kids play area is great too.
D. W.
Superb grounds with the restaurant based in an old historical building. Great food at a very good price, they serve the most amazing deserts and home made cakes. Highly recommended.
A. M.
Nice place for lunch. Need to book a table mind
I. W.
Staff are lovely, after reading other reviews I have to say I have never had a problem with them. Food has been great as well. The seats are dirty though mold on two of them.
A. B.
Lovely food, safe environment, friendly and courteous staff.
P. H.
Have eaten here on numerous occasions over the years, never disappointed, sometimes there's a short wait for the food to arrive but it IS a popular place with pleasant historical surroundings. When I'm in L'pool I enjoy visiting here.
D.
Great food and service. Went for Christmas dinner with an autistic child who would not eat a roast and they catered for his needs no questions asked. Thank you very much
M. M.
Very nice food and staff were friendly
k. s.
Would like to know why a female manage thinks she has the right to take off on one of the staff in front of customers. That poor girl had worked so bloody hard lookingg after our party of 60 people. Bad management
L. R.
Post refurb the food was of good quality. It was served off peak and was quickly delivered.
The decoration and environment was much improved and service was excellent.
J. F.
Nice food and cake magnificent building. You could go for a nice walk as well. The staff were very polite. Nice atmosphere.
D. B.
We we at a wake and there was a member of staff that was so rude. The food was also overcooked. The quiche was so burnt
D. S.
Great pub, set in an architecturally beautiful building in the middle of a park
Restaurant doing a carvery option is available
Cask Marque credited
Very reasonable prices
Friendly staff
Very clean and lovely interior
Indoor and outdoor seating available
Function rooms available
Cake stall to die for....so leave room
G. T.
Much improved from last visit, food is quite good and the cakes are unbelievable. They have a chocolate éclair that is as thick as a baseball bat and a foot long 😋
s. c.
Food.. atmosphere.. place is amazing definitely advise to go cakes r unbelievable ..we were there for mother's Day busy but not to busy thank you we had a lovely afternoon X X
K. S.
Amazing food at great prices, also a Gluten Free menu, staff very helpful and polite.
Definatly making this place a regular visit.
J. D.
Classic pub lunch. If your not expecting the world just some simple food this is perfect for you. Didn’t personally have the carvery but looked monstrous!
S. F.
We were there for a wake . The staff were very helpful in explaining signing in and ordering from the bar .
L. R.
Amazing building and delicious food served by friendly staff 😁
d. r.
Very impressed with the food and service. . would highly recommend the pub and will definitely be going back . Covid friendly
b. j.
The meal we had was nice my hubby fancied the rump steak but they didn't have any which was a shame
J. R.
Fast service, standard pub fayre
D. S.
Love this place just wish it was nearer home
M. M.
Unfortunately I was there for a post-funeral gathering, so wasn't really able to enjoy the facilities. The carvery looked good, but didn't have the time to try it out.
S. V.
No carvery. Lots of things not available on the menu. Service was ok
S.
Great building, very covid safe but carvery food is poor. If I return will go from the menu.
P. W.
Beautiful surroundings ...The restaurant is set out in an old converted stately home offering carvery and food off the menu ..Always had a great meal in here and well worth a visit ...Great safe outdoor area for kids in the summer ..⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
B. W.
Been here twice this week.
Food lovely and ALL staff are very pleasant and polite.
Best customer service I have experienced in a while. 😀

Lovely food friendly staff,recommended it
S. L.
One of the best roast dinners I've ever had.
M. P.
Great the carvery served small meals as well as large with the starting price of £4.99. Food was OK too.
M. W.
Nice place, we'll set out and comfortable. Good atmosphere. Buffet food was disappointing though.
D. C.
Can get busy at times and queues can be long. Ask they run out of quite a few desserts. Good tasty food at an affordable price
J. M.
Lovely food, friendly staff , very covid safe! Thank you for the cake away recommendation Lily 🍰
p. m.
Went for a breakfast with my brother, first time I have visited. Food was excellent, and staff were friendly. Definitely be going again.
L. O.
Staff very friendly although we had a child with us and were told where to sit..no children's area and waited 25 minutes to order drinks and food at till and half an hour in que..very slow service
S. B.
Absolutely packed out...food was nice apart from veg which was rock hard not 'al dente' would have broken dads dentures!
J. S.
Covid, risk free pub. All staff wearing the correct gear and looking after everyone. Brilliant food as always from Greene King pubs.
f. j.
Great food good prices, had to order from staff s as not a good phone signal 😊
J. H.
1st bottle bubbly in a pub for over a year. Nearly cried with happiness 🥂🥂🥂
D. N.
Little bit pricey here now but food was good and staff were great. Desserts are enormous! Recommend one of those!
A. G.
The Gentleman that helped our party of 20 was amazing, nothing was to much trouble for him. The food was lovely, couldn't fault the service at all.
