Was told in arrival that there was an hour wait for food. 10/10 for honesty. Ordered drinks and the food came 45 mins later. Was absolutely worth the wait! Best mixed grill I've ever had from any pub! Two for one menu so payed under 30 pounds for two main meals and two drinks. Excellent service and hospitality. Would never go anywhere else for a mixed grill again!

Picturesque externally but inside a rather ordinary pub, edible but rather boring standard grub and somewhat dark pub. Not awful but there are better options nearby. 2for1 deal on mains makes prices tolerable but not great. I really wouldn’t bother. Location is quite nice with pretty church across the road. Staff and service pleasant -toilets could be improved!

Lovely old pub with plenty of tables to choose from. Staff very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, good portions (none of those awful chips in a mini basket). I can recommend the steak and ale pie. They even had my fave wine. Waitress needed ID for my daughter as she ordered alcohol, but wasn't at all patronising. We were having a celebration meal and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening. We will definitely be back soon!

Called in on the off chance. Changed since my last visit. Food was still of good quality. Enjoyed the meals and the ice cream desert. Great night. Although quite empty for a Saturday night. Don't know why. Will call again though as they are dog friendly and actually have a doggy menu. One to try!

Went for an impromptu lunch on Thursday and had a lovely time. Hannah looked after us perfectly , she really is a credit to the pub. Her friendly yet professional demeanour coupled with a warm welcome and attentive yet not overbearing service turned a quick stop for lunch into a really enjoyable experience. I visited with my friends, we had fabulous service & the food was served hot & in a timely manner. The staff were particularly helpful in providing clear information around gluten containing products & confirmed exactly what was gluten free ( including the cooking process) so as a Colieac I could enjoy my meal with about any worries. I am 53yrs of age and haven't been to the Bootle Arms since I was 19yrs old (Moved to London as a Prison Officer). I was worried that it wouldn't be the same, I needn't have been. The Wife & I have now found a great Pub to go to for good drinks & food. The best bit of the Bootle Arms is the fact it's 'away from everything' and reminds me of a 'Ye olde' Cotswold Pub. Booked breakfast with Santa for my son. It was £10pp. Greeted nicely. Service was fast and the breakfast was really nice and tasty. They had some little christmas craft things on the table for my son to do which was really nice. Had 1-1 time with Santa and he was funny and engaging with the kids. Would definitely recommend. Found it much better than queuing at some centre. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was that the pub was a bit cold and that it wasn't communicated to us that drinks were extra although absolutely not an issue as it was still good value for money. Just glad I remembered to take my card with me to pay.

Always enjoy visiting the Bootle Arms, the outside table areas are really nice especially on a sunny day. Staff are friendly enough and the customers are always friendly. Food is really nice, great price and always served in good time. We have been here many times over the years whether it be for a Sunday lunch, brunch, big family meal or just a quick drink and will continue to visit in the future. It is a lovely plub with a nice vibe and comfortable atmosphere aswell as it being nice and clean which is definitely a biggie. The park outside is perfect to entertain the kids before and after food but sometimes hard to get them away from 😂 We look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon 👌 Recommended to all families, couples and friends alike 😊

I visited with my mum and 2 children. The menu has a good varied selection to suit all. From pie and chips to steak to lasagne and a nice selection of burgers. The food was delicious. My mum had the steak and hasn't stopped talking about it. The service was great. All staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a lovely outside area with a small play area for when the weather is nice. We will be returning soon.

Visited the Bootle Arms today for lunch with my Mother and I was absolutely delighted, not only with the stunning exterior and interior of the Bootle Arms but also the service i received by my server Chloe and the barman who's name unfortunately I didn't catch. They both could see i have mobility issues and seated us quickly and came to the table to take our drink and food order to save me standing and waiting wich I really appreciated. We both orderd the fish n chips from the menu and the food arrived very quickly, it was fresh , perfectly cooked and delicious. We were both made to feel most welcome and shown excellent hospitality and nothing was too much trouble for either of them so I will most definitely be giving the Bootle Arms another visit. 6 Stars 🌟 from me.

Classic country pub situated in the Melling area of Merseyside. Menu's are updated seasonally, as you'd expect. Situated on a country lane, surrounded by fields, cottages and a church, the location provides idyllic, picturesque surrounding as views. This makes the country pub an ideal place to visit for lunch or tea, especially during the summer months. The building itself dates back hundreds of years and the land features a sizable car-park to the rear, in addition to a children's park with plenty of outdoor seating and eating area. Price-wise, it does border on the expensive at times, with most meals costing over £10 each.

Our 3 year old tripped on the flags on the way in to the pub and really hurt her face so we asked for some crayons to do some colouring in to distract her, unfortunately there were no crayons left but instead we were give Jenga & connect four to play with which the kids loved.

I had been told the roast dinner was very good but I refuse to eat a roast dinner in a restaurant because nobody makes one better than the wife. I tried today and whilst I won't risk saying it beat the wife's roast dinner, it most certainly lived up to the expectations of the recommendations I had received. Will definitely be back again.

After ordering our Turkey Roast we waited a good hour, BUT when it arrived it was worth waiting for, it was scrumptious, I couldn't even finish all of mine. The girl who greeted us when we arrived had told us that because of the very long wait the Roasts were on the house, even our 2 Drinks (Pepsi large) wow we weren't expecting that. Maybe half the cost. So well done and Thank you, Staff at Bootle Arms. That is why they have been given a five star rating, which we would have given anyway. Lovely, spotless, lovely atmosphere too. Bootle Arms used to be a lovely pub. After visiting I found it to be not very clean. Disabled access isn't great. Food was just average. Although waitress was lovely and couldn't be more accommodating. This is second Marstons pub I have visited for food and yet again it was a let down. Unfortunately I will not be visiting again.

Friendly staff...bearing in mind there was a large party..i felt too few staff? Our party of 6 seemed to enjoy the food...breaded mushrooms i felt were over done...salad lacked inspiration..but my lasagne was delicious. I asked for a pot of tea which came well after my family had eaten their puddings. And when id booked i was given a voucher 30off...which looks as if the dates were inclusive...but apparently its only mon-friday. If only id known!

What a brilliant place to go for a meal! It's a cosy, warm bar, with excellent well-mannered staff, that tend to your needs with the upmost respect. I've been going to The Bootle Arms for a number of years now (This is my first review); and honestly, I love going to it. The food is excellent, I cannot fault it. The whole venue is immaculate and I recommend it to family and friends, when looking for somewhere to go for a night out/birthday meal.

This was my first visit to The Bootle Arms. It was evening and there are pretty lights in the outside eating and smoking areas. The pub is olde worlde, the staff welcoming and there is a lovely, warm atmosphere. The decor is William Morris, dark wood and cosy. It's quite a large pub come restaurant. I chose steak and salad with a peppercorn sauce, washed down with orange gin, it was delicious. For dessert I shared a lemon cheesecake and ice cream which was also lovely. I can highly recommend for a mid-market meal, suitable for all the family and wheelchair accessible.

Gone down hill, use to be do friendly and food was always hot and good. Ordered 2 prawn cocktails one has 3 prawn in the other had 4, sent them back which then came out with hardly any sauce on. Main meals was not very good either, warmed up, garlic bread was not cooked. Will not be coming back.

Nice place, very good for families and very relaxed. Absolutely huge menu which makes me question the quality and freshness. The filler sharer was really nice and very much a sort of home food. The mega chilli cheese burger was nice and had just about everything you could ever want but felt a bit sick after but that might have been because of all the food. Food was nice, But service was shocking. After being sat there for an hour waiting for somebody to take drink order after the person who sat us down said they're would be someone along shortly and with no indication of how we order. I finally approached the bar and somebody came up 10 mins later. Drinks came 20 mins later followed by the Starters and were lovely, but no cutlery was given until we asked along with some straws (we never got the straws). Mains were nice and standard to gastro pub food. Steak was well seasoned. As we sat there, it must have just been our table... as all other tables seemed to get pretty speedy service. On a positive, the staff were really nice. Most likely wont come back again.

We were a big party and although the service was good the food not quite so. Two steaks not cooked to order a mixed grill not as described on the menu , replacing a lamb chop with another gammon steak and no chicken fillet without saying is not good. Some of the other meals not hot dads up to a three star rating.

We recently celebrated my mums 90th birthday at the Bootle Arms and what a fantastic night we had. We were a group of 12, the menu had an excellent selection of meals plus lots of specials, all main meals were two for one so everyone had a starter and desert too. The young man Jonathan who looked after us gave us exceptional service from start to finish. All our meals arrived together no one was left waiting whilst others tucked in. They do have a pretty good gluten free menu but be careful, I ordered from it and my gluten free meal came topped with onion rings which were moat certainly not gluten free. Staff were great, decor is modern outside with the feel of an old pub inside. Service was fast, but unfortunately the food wasn't great. We ordered burgers and chips, which was made to sound lovely on the menu. When they came out they were far from visually pleasing or delicious. Adding a brioche bun to a poorly made burger with a unmelted cheese slice slapped on top, served with soggy chips doesn't mean you can charge the 10+ pound for the meal. I'd have seriously would have preferred to go to McDonalds, as I'd have enjoyed that more. Maybe this was a one off, but I didn't enjoy it one bit.

The Bootle Arms is a place we visit a lot. Over the years the menus have improved in the way of choice and accommodating people's dietary requirements. The food is nice but that a of 'chain style pub'. It's not exceptional but it's not bad either. However, I must say I had the button mushroom and bourguignon pie today from the vegan menu and that, I would recommend, even to the meat eaters, try it, you won't be disappointed. The apple pie with vegan ice cream was yum too. There's a Specials Board with plenty to choose from besides the main/children's/gluten free/vegetarian & vegan menus. There's a wide choice of desserts and drinks too. If you're a gin fan, there's 12 to choose from.. The staff are always so pleasant and chatty and do regular table checks. The pub has 2 for 1 deals and food evenings during the week, for example Wednesday is 'curry night' etc. The place gets quite busy in the evenings and weekends so I'd advise booking, in fact, we've been for lunch during the week and it was very busy then. People seem to book birthdays, wakes and other occasions there. It's a place to go if you want to relax and are not in rush, I'm not saying the service is slow, it's just nice to enjoy your time there. There's plenty of car parking, a children's play area and out door seating. The surrounding area is lovely with plenty of fields and walk ways, farm land, an old church and a garden centre just round the corner.

Highly recommend! My husband and I had a party(20 people) at the Bootle Arm. My husband and I live in U.S. so we were not sure how Bootle Arms like, but review was good, web showed good so I contacted manager Mark. Manger Mark was supper organized and lovely person to work with, so we decided to have a party at the Bootle Arm. We could have a Great party at the Bootle Arms. The place was spacious and clean -great atmosphere-, this pub worked wonderfully for adults and even children. Everyone had so lovely time!! And even better, it was Great value for money too! Fish and chip were very good, but burger seemed bit simple(i will skip next time), but overall, I REALLY recommend this place!! Everyone said they would come back Bootle Arm again, I do agree! Great place to go.
