Came for brunch early, place was quiet. It's got nice decor, some staff are quite friendly. Ordered Eggs Royal and bagels with cream and nuts. Eggs were great, properly poached, hollandaise slightly thick but overall very satisfied with the dish. The bagel was decent, nothing to write home about, ate it pleasantly when some maple syrup was added. Surprised with the coffees - espresso was fine, a cappuccino (left) was alright but the flat white (right) was bigger than the cappuccino and more like a latte. Interested to try some more menu items.

Nice food place with a load of good lunch options. The sandwiches are great - the pulled ham hock with piccalilli and chips was great It's a big place, with nice decor - good for lunch. Haven't tried dinner yet, but it did look nice in the evening when I walked past.

Warm welcome for brunch this morning. Always friendly service and never have a bad word to say about this place. Really generous portions and the hollandaise was to die for. Best eggs benny in liverpool and the full English was just as good. Fully recommend.

Two of us had the full E.English breakfast which we enjoyed. The other two had The full vegetarian breakfast. When one of them asked if the egg could be exchanged for another mushroom she was told quite indignantly by the waitress that no substitutes were possible. She then said OK, just no egg then. It then arrived with egg and had to be taken back by a very nice apologetic waitress who hadn't taken the original order. An extra mushroom would have worked out cheaper than an egg though I suppose it works out cheaper if you give the customer neither. Problem is that does work out if you get the order wrong. I then had to get the bar man to let me pay the bill as no waitress was there to ask. I did leave a tip because the food was good, the second waitress was very nice and the though busy was really helpful. However the young woman who took our order has put me off coming back. Perhaps she needs more training despite her lovely American accent she needs to brush up her customer service skills. It is a lovely place to have a meal so try it you might get better service.

We had an absolutely delicious lunch at Papillon. We were in a bit of a rush and would have enjoyed savoring our meal a little longer as the flavors were beyond delicious. We both opted for the pork dish, and we are so happy that we did. It comes with a delicious gravy that has onions and garlic in it, but honestly the pork is so juicy and delicious that you almost don’t even need the gravy. Pork can often be dry, and so you always hope that it comes out moist. They hit the nail on the head perfectly with this perfection! But be sure to try the gravy, as it’s delicious. It also had tender stem broccoli with it which was also cooked to perfection. It had that great combination of crisp but easy to chew and full of flavor. We thanked the chef on the way out as we were so pleased with our meal, and he seemed genuinely pleased that we enjoyed it so much. We love how beautiful and bright it is inside the restaurant, But they also have a wonderful sidewalk seating as well. We were almost sorry we didn’t ask for that as it turned out to be a very nice day. But you will be happy inside or outside. The serving staff is very kind and very lovely and you will feel exceedingly welcomed. We look forward to our next meal at Papillon. We are H&P, the Luxe Vagabonds, and we will be giving this restaurant a wonderful review on our YouTube channel.

Went there with my wife. Super nice staff. Good selection of wines. We ordered dinner nibbles as starters which were great. For mains, we ordered a pizza and red Thai chicken curry. Pizza was very light and tasty, but the Thai curry was very, very spicy and very salty for my taste. I am used to spicy food, but this was totally off the charts. We shared a sticky toffee pudding to cool down my palate and was not disappointed.

Had a Sunday morning brunch. Coffee was not tasty, a bit sour (cappuccino). Full English breakfast is well portioned with many tiny dishes. I went for the goat cheese bagel which was what it says: bagel, a layer of creamy goat cheese and a handful of pecan nuts.

Can't recommend highly enough. The best place to eat or drink in Liverpool just right now. The drinks selection was serious and the food was outstanding. I had the seared tuna dish and a pint of the Shropshire Gold cask ale. I've been about 4 times in the past fortnight and can't get enough of it. Good live jazz on the nights I was in, too. Oh and the interior is stunning by the way.

Just utterly fantastic, it was our first visit here as it's only relatively recently opened but it certainly won't be our last, the food and drinks were outstanding and the decor brilliant, including the plants - so many plants! Really can’t rate this place highly enough. Absolutely perfect every single time I’ve been. Food is always incredible, boss drinks selection (best espresso martini I’ve ever had) and the staff can’t do enough for you. The setting is just unreal as well - such a gorgeous room, best outside space on Hope Street and the jazz is great for a chilled night out. Favourite bar/restaurant in Liverpool by a mile.

Myself and my friends stumbled across Papillon while visiting a few pubs in the often forgotten Georgian Quarter of Town. First of all, forget the food for a minute, the staff were amazing and so friendly, genuine customer service and warmth right there. One of the staff were so helpful with our menu choices. Now I only had margarita pizza (I’m boring) but I think if you get that spot on, then that’s a good start and it was delightful, my friends had a selection of starters and they raved about them, they even wanted the recipe to make it themselves, that’s how good it was! There was such a relaxed atmosphere and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

I had booked a pre theatre meal for my Sister in Law and Myself in September. I wrote a review which reflected what had happened: one bad thing after the other. My original review reflected this but good enough I was contacted on the Monday afterward with apologies for our experience. We both returned last night. Not anywhere near as full this time ; everywhere looked nice and clean too. We were attended to professionally and courteously by staff who were very welcoming (it did cross my mind that it could've been very awkward). I looked around the restaurant and saw no evidence of lack of service to anyone. The food was nice last time and we had a really nice meal again. A good discount was given to us to make amends for our previous negative experience. We passed on to the Manager and staff how much it had improved this time too.

Quite spacious inside which is ideal for these times. I had the salmon which was a generous size and really tasty. The americanie sauce that came with it was a refreshing change and something Ive not heard of before. Extremely helpful staff and more importantly they did not rush us, we spent just on £200. for 6 people and I do not believe you should be chased as a number of places seem to do. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant is gorgeous the food was fabulous. The service started of well but then the waitress pulled a face when we asked could we sit inside and then after our meal our plates were left for ages, we didn’t get a response from the waitress when we commented that the food was lovely and we didn’t get asked did we want a refill on our empty drinks or desert once they were taken away. Chef shouting plates and waitress shouting back is also off putting. The restaurant itself has the potential to be successful if these issues are sorted out. One waitress per table would probably work better.

Came in here for a date a few weeks ago. Absolutely loved the atmosphere! The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Jade showed us to our table and talked us through the menu and the drinks. I had a gorgeous cocktail called a Colombo I think - margarita spritz style thing. It was beautiful. The food was phenomenal. We went for a few small plates. The cured salmon was so fresh and light. The buffalo chicken was everything you could ask for! Delicious. The manager Alicia kept checking on our table and was nice enough to move us closer so we could see the live jazz act. Came here a few days ago with a few friends that were over visiting Liverpool. This place has a really chilled vibe and the decor is gorgeous. We had a few cocktails to start our night out and they were lovely, well presented and delicious. We also tried some of the small plates between us and we were delighted with the quality. If I had to find a critisism it would be that the chairs we had were not the most comfortable. We were only in for lunch so it wasn't an issue. If we had been there for an evening social gathering it might have become a negative. Otherwise thoroughly deserving of 5 *****. We'll be back.!

After eating at this restaurant 3-4 times, the one thing I always leave thinking is how good the. Staff are m...we have gotten quick and excellent service not only when taking the order but the staff is constantly checking on the tables to make sure everything is to my liking. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy the food (especially the roasts) and the restaurant is bright, airy and spotlessly clean. It is definitely a great addition to hope street. But the Staff is the most outstanding feature for myself and wish them all the success in the future 🦋

Brilliant addition to Hope St. Perfect place for pre-theatre food and drinks. My wife and I shared a pizza plus a few of the small plates and they were gorgeous. Came here quiet a lot for drinks since it opened - great bevs, great atmosphere, great service and staff. Earlier this week, I came for food with my auntie and uncle. My auntie got a mixture of small plates, I got the steak and my uncle got the fish - It was there first visit. We were blown away by the delishisness! Every plate was gorgeous and we ended up staying the whole night for drinks as the atmosphere was too good to leave! My auntie has already booked in with her friends twice since... Popped for Sunday breakfast, place looks very inviting inside and out, cool music. Staff seemed friendly enough and the breakfast menu had a good selection. We loved that they had lots of real plants. So why the 3? Well it’s probs my more like a 3.5, and had the coffee not been so poor, the food a little more exciting/inventive in its execution and a better ambience I’d be giving this a 4 or a even a 5. It has to be said, the lack of ambience wasn’t helped by the fact that we we’re the only people in there and the food was not bad, it just wasn’t great. Someone has obviously spent a lot of money on the place, it’s in a cool part of town, it would be a shame if it didn’t succeed.

Perfect location for people watching on one of Liverpool's most beautiful streets. I've been a few times with family and groups of friends. The food and drink selection is great and the family really love the breakfasts. It's got an interior that is warm and inviting with a contemporary vibe. A 'public house' for the 21st century. No plastic flowers in here. They've cleverly defined different areas using different types of furniture so lots of opportunity to get settled in for the night and listen to the jazz or have a sneaky afternoon vino. The crowd in there, even on Saturday night, was a great cross section of local boho's and creatives along with folk who wanted to escape the madness of 'town' and just chill out.

New favourite eatery and drinkery in Liverpool. There isn't anywhere better looking in the city centre and it's situated on the nicer end of Hope Street by the Philharmonic. The restaurant, the vibes and the staff are all very nice, and the menu offers quite a few options to choose from. Tried the chicken as starters, together with the cauliflower and they were really nice and tasty, I tried also the steak which was very juicy and well cooked. However the burger was really not soft or tasty at all, the burger patty itself was very dry, the buns cold and overall not enjoyable. I would simply not go for the burger again, as everything else was good.
