Excellent lunch here today for my Mums birthday. Not been for years but the pub is nicely decorated and the staff friendly and helpful, all requests were dealt with in a professional and prompt manner. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all 10 of us! My fishcake was delicious. Highly recommend for any occasion and will definitely be returning again when back in the area. We'll done The Pheasant, excellent hospitality. 👏

Great food! We had the crispy duck salad and the crispy duck pizza. Food itself was lovely and the crispy duck pizza was of generous size. We asked to see the gluten free menu. Unfortunately they don't have a separate gf menu. We were given an tablet to see what ingredients/ dishes were gf. This being a very slow process as it wasn't clear at all hence the 4 stars. Dishes on the tablet showed dishes that were not available and we had to cross check with the current serving menu.

My partner and I really enjoy The Pheasant, everything about The Pheasant is great. I myself first visited The Pheasant for my 21st birthday, I have this year turned 50 and I can honestly say The Pheasant is my favourite restaurant to visit. The food, the atmosphere the choice of drinks is fantastic. Not forgetting the amazing staff who work very hard, they ate always very helpful and always have a smile on their face, absolutely lovely staff. Also I had the crispy duck salad for my starter and this was gorgeous massive compliments to the chef as always the food is very tasty and beautifully presented. I look forward to visiting The Pheasant soon.

For me, this evening was a 10/10 Friendly, polite staff, a lovely setting and superb food. 3 diners. Each of us totally enjoyed our starters and mains. A special thanks to the chef. Well organised, and booking recommended if you're going at peak times. Outdoor seating is next to the road, but there are screens which shield you from feeling like you are too close. We tried the resuarant as my wife wanted to try and so we did. Blown away with the food and service. The wife ordered sticky toffee pudding and oh boy its the lightest tasty pudding we have ever eaten so it's 5 stars all the way. Go and try you will not be disappointed or go hungry.

Stumbled on this gem of a pub by mistake. Glad we did, great atmosphere, really friendly staff. I had the Pork Belly with Scallops and my partner had the Padana pizza. Then we shared the Eton Mess. Food was delicious. First time here and definitely won't be the last visit. Special mention for our waitress, unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was excellent.

We overnighted in our motorhome, visiting the Inn for lunch and dinner. On arrival with unseasonably good weather we had lunch outside in the well appointed outside terrace. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the menu extensive. Before dinner we had drinks in the bar which is spacious and well decorated with lots of semi private areas. Dinner was lovely - particularly recommend the Luisella Pinot Grigio. Car park is large and well illuminated (no services).

I enjoyed the pheasant with friends the only thing was that we went at 4.30 pm and found out that they hadn't got any curry or burgers they had run out so it was a little limited to what we could have and my fish batter was a bit greasy I just hope that they can sort things out because I do enjoy going there.

Firstly I'd like to say the staff we spoke to at The Pheasant are lovely. They're friendly and responded to issues well, so it's a shame other things let the place down. Our visit was on a Saturday at 1pm, and it's the slowest service I've had anywhere in a while. We were there until 4pm simply because it took so long to be served starters, mains and desserts. The starters were fine, but the mains were underwhelming and the pizza was so poor I couldn't eat it. The flavours are usually a great mix, but putting a soggy whipped curd, with 3-5 dessert spoons worth of overpowering red onion chutney onto an undercooked base, makes for a weird and unpleasant eating experience. When it came to desserts most were fine, but the brownie was undercooked and was more like a gritty batter than a properly cooked brownie. I know some people like gooey brownies, but this one was more goo than cake.

Sometime since we've been to "The Pheasant" which is a very nice venue. Pleasant helpful staff and nice log fires. I loved the Beer-Battered line-caught Cod and Tartare Sauce but the twice-cooked chunky chips were not up to scratch and the minted pea puree far too sweet. Compared to previous visits we were generally disappointed. Perhaps I'm a little generous giving 3 stars.

We walked into restaurant at about 5:30pm and asked the maître d if we could have a table for 3. He checked if there were any spare tables as we hadn't booked. He didn't appear very enthusiastic about showing us to our table. There were plenty available especially towards the middle and the rear of the restaurant; reserved or unreserved, there were abundance of empty seats. Despite both of my daughters are in their 20s (my youngest daughter has restricted growth) he presented us 2 adult and 1 child menus. My youngest therefore took the child menu back to the maître d who unapologetically swapped the menu over.

Amazing mother's day meal with my family! The service was fabulous and the food was incredible, with very generous servings. We had the mother's day menu, and the choice was brilliant (such good value for money too), with alternative options to a Sunday roast if that's what you wanted. Even a little gift was given to us all as we left (as well as my daughter) which was a nice touch. Thank you, we can't wait to go back! :)

Visited for breakfast with Santa on Saturday 4th Dec. Was served by Bella who I couldn’t fault, she couldn’t do enough. Santa was amazing, he was great with the children and ensured he spoke to every single child and made it personal. The present , colouring , table decorations and activities on the table were amazing. Thanks to Jess for organising our breakfast with Santa! The food was quick and couldn’t fault atall. Thankyou Frank and the kitchen team. All the team were very helpful and made it such a lovely Christmassy experience especially with all their Christmas headbands and finishing touches. The restaurant looks lovely, clean , tidy and the decorations all around are stunning. Will definitely be back again soon.

This is the 3rd time me and my partner have visited the the pheasant, 1st and 2nd time was absolutely perfect, food drink surrounding and service 2nd to none, perfect. But unfortunately this time was a different experience. We had a table booked for 7:30 pm and arrived 5 minutes beforehand, unfortunately our table was not prepared yet but it seemed to be very quiet with many tables empty, anyway we had a drink at the bar but still had to wait 20-30 mins before we were seated at a lovely table I might add. We then ordered our food and I ordered the same as what I had on our second visit because it was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately we both began To get frustrated as we were both hungry after a hard day's work when realised it had been well over an hour of waiting. However our food finally arrived but it was barely warm and my dish was a shadow of the last visit. The staff as always were extremely understanding and very apologetic. so much so they didn't charge us for our meal. We would definitely visit again. Put it it down to a one off.

Please be aware this pub no longer allows dogs inside, only in the pub garden. it's not mentioned on the website anywhere at the moment at least. I booked a short notice meal for six and thought all was okay, the booking was initially accepted, good thing I checked my email. Shame, really did like this place.

So, I was with a party of four and we decided to visit for a Sunday roast. We were greeted pleasantly enough and seated. Our drinks order was taken. 25 minutes later the drinks arrived and we ordered four roasts. Then the waiting began, after half an hour. I managed to call our server over and ask what had happened to our food. 'It will be a few minutes,'. So we waited again for another 20 minutes. Then the food arrived, lukewarm. However the dessert was reasonable. The server seemed to be disinterested in us and gave a number of 'standard' responses to our enquiries about our meal. We were pretty glad when it was over. A most disappointing experience. That being said on other occasions the service has been excellent as has the food, fairly swift and pleasant helpful staff. Maybe it was an off day? When I get round to visiting again and if the service has improved I will review and edit. Until then it has to be three stars.

We visited on Saturday 29th June 2019 at tea time and it was not busy. Had to wait a while for food and drinks but the food was well worth it, drinks were slow and warm by the time we got them. Best served food in quite while though and all piping hot and generous portions, credit to the chef. The servers were a bit switched off at times I.e. forgetting little things like cutlery but they were very pleasant. I highly recommend going just for the standard of food.

Such a good little gastro pub/restaurant in the backstreets of Hightown. The atmosphere and ambience is great, particularly for this time of year. Food is of great quality and reasonably priced. We called in late evening as a last minute decision and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The man who served us couldnt do enough for us and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Even a basic burger was made with clear care and attention .. delicious. Although I stopped breastfeeding a few weeks ago, I feel this place wouldn't have refused us and would say it has enough quiet corners for you to feed your baby without making it obvious to other diners. Lovely restaurant although quite expensive for what you get, the food is nice and the staff are lovely. You're paying for the whole experience as I doubt they'd suffer any obnoxious people/children for long so you can enjoy a nice meal with likeminded mannerly people

They have my favourite ale (Cumberland) plus a good selection of beers in general. Good gin menu. Food menu contains a wide selection. Service was great and the boss let me keep the fries they gave me instead of the house salad I originally ordered which came out shortly afterwards. Steak sandwich nice and super food salad with halloumi filling! Great refurb since we last came, very welcoming interior now

Beautiful pub fantastic staff food was very very disapointing. We traveled here last sunday we like to drive out to different places each week for dunner. Tbis place is approx 14 miles from our house . We were sat quite swiftly but then told there was no more chicken left fo the sunday dinners. So we decided to leave it and headed to the bar to finish our drinks the frobt if house lady came and asked us why we were not eating we said that we had traveled a fair ditance just to have a sunday dinner . But you have no chicken. So she eays sorry about that an disapears a short while later as we were just about to leave she came over once again an said that she had a word with the chef an explained to him that we had traveled from afar just to have this dinner and although they had none left he cooked us 2 chicken dinners . She said we dont really like to dissapoint our guests so for that we were really appreciative and sat diwn again . When the food came it was hot the chicken was perfect however the veg etc etc was warm ups and veey bland. Personally id not go back to eat but i would for drinks. Lively warm atmosphere.

Okay but it wasn't our first choice...we ended up here by accident. We all chose our lunch only to be told the grill was off, which is when we realised how limited the menu is. For example, there was two choices of sandwich. I had to have the fish fingers. Again, this was reasonable but also quite forgettable! Staff were very pleasant. Surroundings very nice.

We like this pub. We often come for drinks and chips after a visit to the sea. It's a very nice pub, with commensurate pricing, so not the place for what we would qualify as a cheap family meal, but a great place for good quality food. We've eaten here as a couple and the food was lovely, with great service, and real depth of flavour. The staff couldn't be more helpful, and the décor is wonderful, with lots of natural, real wood features, and natural edge pieces. Someone clearly cares. Visit here. Goto Crosby beach (by the life guard station) at high tide first to work up an appetite.

Food is delicious, bit expensive for what it is, service very very slow. We waited ages for them to take our order, then ages for the drinks to come out, then ages for the starters then a bit too long (not as long as before) for the main. I'd ordered chips instead of sweet potato fries but then sweet potato fries came out with my order. I told them I'd ordered chips so they said they'd change them. We also asked for ketchup, barbecue and sweet chilli sauce. They weren't sure what sauces they had so we said we'd have whatever one of those sauces they had. We'd finished eating by the time the sauces came back and I'd finished eating by the time my chips came back and when they came back, they were fries, not chips. We had to find and get our own cutlery and napkins. There were four of us. We had a shared starter and a scallop starter too, we had four main meals, 2 shandys, 1 beer, 1 lemonade and 1 coke. The bill came to £115. It just seemed a bit expensive for what it was. My son had a burger with bacon, chorizo and holoumi and just those toppings came to £5. Just think its a bit steep for the food it is and the service you get.

Clean, comfy chairs in bar area. Tables were not sticky!. Nice decor. soup was ok, tough celery string made it a little tricky to eat, reasonably flavoursome for a veg soup. Sprig of pea shoots floating in middle was a bit precious. Battered cod n chips - chips had skins on which was nice. Batter crisp probably made with soda fizzy. The cod was poor, not flaky meaty as a chipshop cod, little of it in the batter, rather wet and mushy crumb texture a bit like plaice - I had the same in the Weld Blunell. I think either the fish is borderline off or its cooked directly from frozen. Menu a bit chintzy - tipping into the trying too hard for a pub. Saying that the crab fish cakes looked good, like two rounders balls! A bit pricey, did smell quite fishy when we walked in, not in a good way - fresh fish has no smell.
