Lovely character pub with open fires and a lovely atmosphere. Staff were great and worked well under pressure as we were a large funeral party but they were very good. The buffet was awesome with great choices and piping hot which was appreciated on a cold January day. Well done and many thanks from all at the Taylor event.

Me and my husband were there two nights on the row, one as a couple and the other as a family. Food was lovely as usual and great value for money and recommend to anyone. Especially with the wine deal on. Both nights we were mainly served by Jack and Jessica, they were so friendly and made the effort to make sure we were all okay and cracked a few jokes along the way (even with the kids) I did feel sorry for them though as it felt as if they were understaffed but there was two other girls talking for what seemed like most of the night (we had a view of the bar) they both deserve a raise in my books . And will definitely come back again. Thank you❤

We have been in 2 nights on the run, Tuesday and Wednesday with the 50% on. Both times we were served by a young girl with blue hair, I think I overheard someone calling her Jessica. She was very kind, polite and hard working. She made an effort with our kids (they liked her hair colour)and she tried to make the night great and not only for us but other customers. I wish i could say the same about the other lady working on tuesday, her attitude did not seem as upbeat. The food was amazing and well sized / priced. And would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. A big thank you to the whole team too.

The Black Bull in Gateacre is a lovely pub to visit. It has many spacious rooms and nooks to sit and have a drink with friends. Located at the crossroads by the traffic lights in the centre of Gateacre Village, the Black Bull is a character pub set back from the road with a large car park to the rear. Well worth a visit.

I went to this pub today first time in yrs with my adult son and young daughter ( breakfast with Santa). It was a lovely morning, decent food, friendly Santa, thoughtful gift, my little girl was happy. It's good value and a big shout out to the two lovely ladies working hard to make it special for the kids! Minus ⭐as just need a bit of glitz in the grotto for photos x

Just some feedback. We came in for some cold drinks on a hot day and wanted to sit outside. For this we had to download an app, go through the menu to find the drinks, go back inside to ask a member of staff what the table number should be as there are no numbers on the outside tables, then complete the order online. People come to pubs for human interaction, please don't replace your staff with apps. The experience would have been much nicer if we just asked for two drinks and they were brought to us. Simple!

Have visited this place twice recently and all I can say is we enjoyed the food and service was good. We had someone serving us called Jack and he was excellent at his job. Was patient, calm and very informative when it came to food intolerances He made us feel very welcome and he is a credit to this company. Myself husband and family were taken to here to have a pr birthday meal with our granddaughter. We don't live in Liverpool we live in Telford. But we can all honestly say what a lovely meal we all had which were all different. The service and the staff were wonderful, one of the staff even took a family picture of us all for us . We can definitely say when we visit again we will be eating here again . Thankyou all for a lovely afternoon .

Good atmosphere, excellent range of delicious vegan and vegetarian foods for a pub including separate menu, loved the range of choices available for starter, mains and desserts. Reasonable priced food, 2 for 1 on cocktails after 5pm and wine only £10 a bottle. Staff lovely and friendly manager, will be returning soon.

Always a great place to visit. The Staff make you very welcome. The fixed price daytime menu is very reasonable with good choices, I loved the chicken breast with chips and gravy. Also enjoyed a mini pud with a coffee to finish the meal.

Never had a bad meal at this pub. My only niggles are that you can't a phone signal indoors and when I recently went there in a party of 7, my food was lukewarm at best when it arrived. Other than that, it's a fantastic place.

A decent pub that defies it's chain status by having excellent and friendly staff. It's let down slightly by inconsistent food, occasionally poor choice of, or poorly kept real beer, but on a good day, it is very good indeed. The beer garden is adequate, the menu is good and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

This place is ok. Outdoor seating is inadequate, and not dog friendly indoors. Smoking area at the back is unpleasant and grubby, with no seating (I dont smoke). The food is pretty good, and the prices are fantastic. Bar staff are very friendly too.

Love this place. One of my most favourite pubs ever. I use to drink there before the modernisation , when it was still old wooden walls and the restaurant was separated from the pub. Very relaxing and a very friendly atmosphere.

Not too bad for waiting, I would not describe this place as cordon bleu and is overshadowed by the near by Bear and Staff for quality food, but you get what you pay for
