Came for tea and it was fish and chip friday! Excellent value nice size fish and hot!! Had choice of garden or mushy peas, I chose none. Had with a disbury gin! Lovely pub with all the photos from meccano and the Hornby family

Its a Wetherspoons they are all pretty good food wise. I actually quite enjoyed this one and sat and researched Frank Hornby whilst wating for the food to come as I had no idea who he was.

Unusual but we had to make 4 choices before we found a "Real Ale" that was available. To be fair we were told that the delivery was late - It arrived while we were eating; the Food, as always, excellent value - I suggest you find a table and choose food before getting a drink, as many items on the menu include a drink within the cost. I've no doubt we will be meeting here again in the not too distant future.

Nice to have Breakfast with all the family. Arrived quite early around 10.15am but did start to get busy soon after. Eggs benedict very nice, with runny yolks in both eggs. English Breakfast is good also. Good service. Coffee was my only issue. A bit strong for a latte and a bit bland taste coming from a vending machine. Nice atmosphere and lots of history decorating the Weatherspoon's.

Great experience at lunchtime. Helpful and cheerful staff. Only problem is that the toilets are up two flights of stairs which is a lot of stairs if you've got bad knees. There is a disabled toilet on ground level but it seemed to be well used by disabled and abled patrons.

Visit here all the time I have to say Vicky is fab always welcoming. And such a hard worker. She actually likes her job such a rare thing nowadays. I never see her on the phone like some staff. Always has a smile to welcome you. An asset to weatherspoons. I’m fussy and the kitchen get it right all the time good job!!!

Great selection of beers and damn good price too - 2 drinks for less than a fiver :) we just had drinks but the food looked delicious and smelled very tempting. Return visit on 9th Feb for dinner with the kids - food was definitely delicious and very good prices too - and still 2 alcoholic drinks (pint of beer and large glass of wine) for under a fiver. Love this place :)

Very good food. But when i went to it it was completely full so I had to sit down where someone had just left so it still had plates and things on it. It took a very long time for staff to clear up.

During tier 3 restrictions was not at its best and they also imposed their own rules on top of what tier 3 already imposed. Ie if you buy a meal you can drink but they limited how many, before you say down, I challenge this it's not part of the restrictions and ask for an explanation, which Wetherspoons rules. However when I arrived I was asked do you want a meal or just to drink and depending on my answer we where directed to a certain tablet either using the app or with service. People behind went the opposite way and I observed just drinking, which was against the law. At ,8:30 we were the only people left in there some of the staff obviously finished early then proceeded to sit down socialising with a drink I thought what about restrictions. Will not visit again probably till covid is over it at all.

Nice cozy place. Good food for a Weatherspoons. Bar staff are always a bit slow and as in every weatherspoons tend to serve regulars before people waiting patiently. Very small car park which always seems full.

A typical Wetherspoons menu, good value food & drink. The pub has plenty of information on Frank Hornby & Meccano on the walls. The decor is a little 'tired' but the staff are cheerful & friendly. If you want a good value meal with a drink it's worth a visit.

It's sort of hit and miss. Compared to witherspoon in Ormskirk this place wins evertime. After 5 visits with family I've only had 1 questionable meal. My gammon on my mixed grill was grissel. So that's 4 hits and 1 miss.
