Reviews of The Red Lion

A great pub with lots of little places to sit indoors and outdoors. A good selection of beers and the staff are very friendly. The beer garden at the back is great when the sun is out. Also another outdoor area that is more sheltered. Dog friendly too!

A relatively new 'pub', that appeared out of nowhere. Well, out of an old shop, I believe. It's been done so well, you would think this traditional pub had been there forever.
A really great selection of craft ales, friendly staff and a perfect atmosphere. There's a lovely courtyard, for when the weather is good and a covered area, when it's a tad chilly.

This place is just what the city centre has been needing. A lovely, traditionally-styled pub by day which, by night, is a welcome alternative to most of the city centre's bars which are all about loud music and dancing (fine if you're in the mood!). Decent selection of beers, too!

Class pub, really good vibe and a cracking pint of Guinness!

This place is impressive. I came in looking for my friend, Andre. I missed Andre but he has introduced me to a great new traditional pub. It was offices before, the barman told me, when I couldn't think what was here. Except full of tat - stuffed animals, jugs and teapots, old photographs etc. - they've recreated an Edwardian pub totally - and goes back long enough that they've got a reasonable size outside yard which is still fairly rare in town, Liverpool city centre (but for smoking). Also a side covered outdoor seating area, several different seating areas. Apart from my traditional British bitter, Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker, £3.90, they also had three hoppy pale ales (which I don't like but many modern craft beer fans & real ale drinkers do), the renowned Ossett's White Rat & two by Chapter, and a golden ale on (Salopian). Plus cocktails (£8.75 - 10), decent looking wine, good imported European lagers (German / Spanish), some bar snacks. Friendly staff. The 'stuff' for decoration is on the scale of turbocharged 'Irish' theme pub, than more relaxed Bohemian tat of the Loungers bars look, but at least the owners or designers have repurposed a lot of old stuff. This looks quite like many old Liverpool city pubs did when I moved into the centre in the mid '90s. I agree with reviewers saying this is a good addition to the city centre. PS as a CAMRA and pub beer expert I guessed A would recommend a good place. Owe him a pint :-)

Great new addition to Liverpool pubs that serve real ale, but also have sport on and good music.
Nice place, staff, and good feel to the place

Mad, mad pub.... Very friendly. Good crowd. Felt like I was having a drink in somebodies house. Very novel. 👍

Nice addition to Slater Street. Traditional styled Pub. A mix of exposed brickwork, dark wood, vintage decor with that light green paint everyone uses to paint wall panelling (you know the one) and nick nacks dangling from the ceiling. Deceptively spacious with different sections and an outside area at the back. Fiver a pint price point and a few options on draught. Nice soundtrack but a bit loud for conversations when it's not chokker. Guessing it's dog friendly cos there was a cute dog in when I was there.

Fabulous pub, amazing service, lovely Pino gricio, attentive to serving cold wine in an ice cold glass. Home made port pies are the best we’ve ever had. Would highly recommend this pub

Amazing new city centre pub

Ooh this was a good find on Slater st. Quirky tardis of a bar, with two outdoor spaces. Could quite happily whole an afternoon away in here.
TV screens for the sport too, in a civilized space.

They have created from scratch a pretty traditional pub that feels like it has been here forever. Certainly a good addition to this end of Liverpool, excellent ale quality too.
