Reviews of Ye Cracke
A. D.
Super nice atmosphere! It’s a more quiet pub than the ones in the touristic streets (when there’s no band), they have a nice yard and local beers for a good price. John Lennon used to come here, also! 😍
G. C.
Proper pub. John Lennon’s favourite. Good local vibe and outdoor drinking with spontaneous live acoustic music. Subtle warning if you’ve a Tory don’t enter.
I. Y.
Good beer great old time pub, loved the decor. Definitely be going back
J. D.
Haven't been for several years, Covid notwithstanding. Can't believe I've let myself miss out on the place. It's a great boozer - loads of character, loads of characters.
Good beer too.
J. B.
If you are an old hippy you will love this place.
If you like Real Ale you will love this place.
If you like a good juke box that offers lots of plays for £1 you will love this place.
If you are dead posh, or want to park right close, you won't like this place.
I LOVE this place.
J. H.
I love this pub. A scouse institution - the left leaning decor, some subtle, some far less so, leaves little introduction needed to the friendly locals and the history of the pub
Beers are pedestrian by current standards, expect best bitters, milds, stouts and porters, plus the usual macrobrew lager and cider offerings
All the pints I've had have been well kept and slip down a treat
A proper pub
D. S.
Probably my favorite pub on earth. The landlady and staff are excellent as well as it's patrons. Had an incredible night here making friends and memories. Cannot wait to return one day.
D. B.
Great ale, managed to watch the Liverpool match without the pub being overcrowded. Wonderful beer garden. Great Staff as ways
D. L.
Very unspoilt pub thoroughly enjoyed it.
R. B.
Wonderful Liverpool watering hole. Always make a point of coming here if I'm having a few pints. Barstaff and locals are fantastic.
P. S.
John Lennon's local from art college. A gem in Liverpools crown. Decent beer, excellent craic. Great beer garden.
A. M.
Real ale pub the staff were efficient considering it was very busy reasonable prices and a large beer garden.
J. R.
Perfect local pub. Don't go in expecting anything Beatles, apart from knowing it was a frequent of John's. Go in for a pint and the great conversation the owner/bar staff offer
G. K.
A little gem ,full of history and lovely landlady, really friendly
G. M.
Outstanding decor that reflects the feeling of the majority in this week of royal celebrations. Top notch
W. G.
Great out the way pub with a lot of oldy world features still in tact, staff very friendly and atmosphere was nice. Dropped a star due to small selection of cask ales.
M. B.
A pub with loads of character - has a great selection of ales alto enjoy whilst you absorb the places history and enjoy some music from the jukebox
P. J.
Great pub, with a great history and lovely staff
J. R.
Interesting venue with great beer.
S. G.
Small, so not ideal for huge groups - but a homely and familiar pub with affordable prices.
T. M.
Had a great time here. Nice staff and the beer garden is great.
T. S.
Old style pub that is a must visit if in the area. Tucked away on Rice St, just down from Catherine St, this pub has great beers, great jukebox, great beer garden and an interesting landlady with lots of stories! Plenty of movies and TV shows have been filmed here over the years which makes for good conversations.
S. D.
Feels like a 'locals' place at first, and 100% an old mans pub, but it's really nice. Good couple of beers on, and a really lovely history with the John Lennon stuff. You really have to call in if you're passing! Staff are lovely too!
J. C.
Lovely pub with garden well outside space in Liverpool City.
J. P.
Decent beer that's kept reasonably well. The staff are not friendly, especially the long termers/owner.
Great beer garden but it closes at 9.15 because the people who bought houses or flats nearby complain that it's noisy. Don't buy property near a pub of you're a light sleeper!
d. e.
Great little boozer, had a few film crews, in there too,
Always funny when you say to yer bird,, fancy a bottle in the crack later lov,....., 😂
N. L.
Always a worthwhile visit whilst in Liverpool, On this last visit slightly disappointed at cask ale range, as only one on & then this was taken off/ run out.
However on the positive side! Very friendly welcome & weather good enough to try out the beer garden which is slightly hidden but well worth locating & enjoying.
Cheers
R. R.
Good, a local chewed my ear off for an hour, lol. I enjoyed every minute of it!
B. O.
Great traditional pub, with well kept beers.
A. C.
Really good old pub great for a catch up with friends over a pint of real ale in its snug little rooms.
M. S.
Great pub. Great Real ale. Friendly clientelle
L.
Great Pub, full of character, nice friendly customers and staff
A. R.
Great Liverpool city pub a must go!! Not for children.

D. A. C.
Great Pub full of local history.
E. S.
Fun pub on Beatles crawl. Great chat with locals about the Beatles.
S. K.
Great pub with large selection of Ales
O. T.
Brilliant authentic english pub. Beer, chairs and tables. What more do you need? Absolutely loved it. Local clientel.
P. C.
Bit confusing if not a regular on entering, as the bar we thought we stood at waiting to be served was just a seating area. We sat in the garden, nice traditional pub.
S. W.
A proper old school pub with great prices and helpful friend staff. This pub was the regular for The Beatles before (and during) their fame!
E. A.
Stopped in for a half for only £1!! Excellent value with some local ales on offer
B. B.
Lovely olde pub. Some great characters
J. G.
Great old pub with some great Beatles history and real ales.
R. F.
Lovely place and pub...is the same old pub when John Lennon e Cyn was young... wonderful 💖💖
U. m. b. A. C. N. W.
A nice little pub not far from Liverpool central station and the first pub john and cynthia lennon had a date in this place is one of the cheapest pubs in Liverpool and very good for youg people
N. E.
Best pub in Liverpool by miles. Excellent cheap drink, best atmosphere I've ever had in a pub. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Unique furniture, often ramshackled together out of antiques and church pews, just the thing you want in a pub. Highly recommended , you will not be disappointed
p. o.
Friendly traditional pub with great beers
P. E.
Cracking beers and friendly staff and friendly atmosphere
J. K.
Nice old back street Liverpool pub
s. p.
Lovely traditional pub one road away from my senior school. Which is now LIPA. Lost of history on display, Beatles pics and The War Office. Quite busy, lots of regulars all bit merry and tourists having a good look around. Nice place for a few if on a crawl. Small but good for all.
M. M.
Excellent pub, full of charm great service and lovely beer garden .Well worth a visit highly recommended.
S. M.
My fave Liverpool pub. Old, traditional, quirky. Always good service, great beers. Sort of pub where someone will always talk to you. Beer garden is a sun trap. Great juke box too. Recommended.
C. P.
Been going to this place since the 80s still a great place to meet people great staff, nice pint, friendly atmosphere.
A. H.
Just a nice, pleasant environment with good drink, friendly staff and a decent jukebox.
D. D.
Classic Liverpool pub with a no thrills decor but plenty of character. The beer garden out the back gets plenty of sun in nice weather and there's a digital jukebox inside to put some tunes on. If with a group of friends, look out for the 'war room' and try and secure it for a few drinks!
B. I.
Grand pup full off character, John Lennons local back in the day. Lovely beer garden round the back.
C. C.
Good local Liverpool pub - which members of The Beatles reportedly drank in, if you believe the stories. Outside beer garden/yard in the back which is good during bank holidays when the sun is out. Minimum spend on a card payment is £5
S. H.
One of the most iconic old bars in Liverpool's student district. Nice ales, great beer garden and a taste of Beatles nostalgia all in the same locale. You can't go wrong.
H. S.
There are quite a few very good pubs around this area of Liverpool, but for me personally I would say this is the best one. The lass behind the bar was friendly and this was a place where you could start chatting to anyone with ease. The beer is nice and in good condition and I suspect with it's location it doesn't get as busy as some of the other pubs so you will feel more relaxed in this pub. Definitely worth seeking out.
C. F.
Love this place. Good prices and get 5 (I think, if not then it's 4 which is still OK) songs on juke box for a quid - can be busy on a weekend or evening, but always a good atmosphere.
Recommended to all to go here if like decent prices - prices for a pint around £2-£2.50
D. O.
Used to be a great pub but the quality of the beer has been falling steadily for the past few years. I still go there whenever I'm in Liverpool just because I'm a John Lennon nerd but I get a bottled beer there days.
B. F. h.
Hidden Gem this pub old school nice beers at sensible prices really nice staff and great characters in there would recommend 👍
A. S.
One of the few traditional pubs left in the city with a friendly atmosphere and an outside sun trap area for use during the summer. Also, as the favourite watering hole of John Lennon during his art college days, it should be high on the list to visit for any true Beatles fan.
T. C. F. C.
Another wonderful hidden gem that has some great beers, friendly service, fantastic juke box and secluded beer garden. Also a great connection to the most famous band in the world, The Beatles! :)
H. L.
Lovely pub with reasonable priced beer. No music besides jukebox so sometimes it gets awkwardly silent. Anyway bartender were nice and easy going. Would recommend for quick pint.
M. W.
Cracking auld pub, great place and service.
D. o.
Not changed in decades. Which is a great thing.
T. B.
Great bar staff really make you welcome, good beer
P. R.
Great pint, great atmosphere and a great pub.
J. T.
One of my favourite small pubs
L. N.
WHAT A LEGENDARY PUB! The name aside, it's got a very interesting vibe and is a great stop on a pub crawl of Liverpool. The war room is particularly good and I'm told this is one of John Lennon's old haunts.
S. M.
Historic Liverpool traditional pub, remains unchanged from the 60's other than the bar staff, they've received a fresh coat of paint this millennium. Friendly knowledgeable clientele, including me occasionally. Macaxx
H. M.
One of the oldest pubs with a fantastic beer garden in Liverpool city centre! If you like reall Ale, this the place to visit with friendly staff & customers! The famous Penny Lane Iron Men can sometimes be found here during the summer months!😎😎😎😎😎😎
M. B.
Amazing old style pub, with soft music in the background or simply quiet. Lots of separate sections and the have a beer garden as well ,lots of beatle memrobilia and art works from the nearby college, well worth a visit
C. o. t. W.
Love this little pub. No airs or graces. Pleasant staff. Nice beer garden. Decent pint and a great John Lennon connection for Beatle fans
T. D.
Great pub, lots of history ie one of the pubs frequented by the Beatles
L. G.
One of the famous pubs of liverpool, make it a stop if you pass by. Its got a huge beer garden. Good selection of reasonably priced ales and ciders. Cant go wrong.
M. A.
Good local beers in a brilliant, honest-to-god, hard as nails old Liverpool pub. Dripping in history. An absolute must for any serious ale drinker or beatle fan.
J. G.
Awesome place to grab a pint and hang out. This place has a deep history in liverpool! This is off the beaten path and is not a cookie cutter bar! This is what I liked about the bar!
M. M.
Relaxing, good music and friendly atmosphere
M. B.
Nice old pub. John Lennon and McCartney . Drank there when at the art school in the 60s .
T. I.
Genuine neighbourhood pub with wonderful characters and craft beers on tap. No wonder at all, that late mr. Lennon liked it in his youth; historic working class joint. You can really meet seniors who knew Beatles members - or somebody who knows. Clearly an only alien on Friday night, accidentally I assume. A digital jukebox. Not for the petit bourgeois or for the tourist bus type.
J. P.
A proper pub with good beers and good staff, a rarity these days
P. J. G.
Old traditional Liverpool pub with a good juke box. Sadly the place is run down and dirty. Apart from one older barmaid staff are unfriendly I hope it can survive for future generations
I. F.
A genuine Liverpool pub, no frills but looms large in the Lennon/Beatles legend. John and Cyn fell in love here and John and Stu talked of Jackson Pollock , the Beat poets and Buddy Holly. Wow if these walls could talk.
C. C.
Good old pub Good beer nice garden and friendly staff

Great little pub with lots of history, The Beatles used to hang out here and lot's of musicians still do, the beer garden at the back is large and always very popular in the summer months
K. B.
Super ales, great staff, friendly atmosphere
G. G.
Steeped in history, it has a beautiful untouched pub interior, which is a great rarity, and one of the best beer gardens in the city centre. Always has at least 3 real ales on, sometimes of varying choice and quality.
B. A.
Great wee place off the beaten track. 100 yards from the art schools that Lennon and McCartney attended and only £2 per pint!
M. J.
Great atmosphere. Lovely old fashioned pub. Great duke box. Good choice of draught beers and serves a nice gin too.
P. L.
Nice 'genuine' survival in the centre of the city. Surrounded as it is by upmarket eateries and fancy bars. A traditional pub nestled on a side street.
E. M.

A. C.
I absolutely love this pub. Like going back in time. Long may it thrive. Excellent beer!
a. q.
A quite small character full pub. If you like old world charm you'll like this. Tucked away and not that easy to find. Could get very cramped as not very big.
P. T.
Quietly the best pub on the planet.
l. g.
Traditional laid back pub with some decent beers. Only downside was the lady behind the bar said the brummie accent was much worse than a scouse accent.
A. M.
My fave 'Beatles when students ' pub. Hasn't changed a bit. V.basic, rough & ready, but real, proper pub. Love it.
M. S.

(Translated) This pub should be a must stop for any beatlemaniac visiting Liverpool. Take your way between the two Liverpool cathedrals, very close to the Liverpool Philharmonic Pub on Hope Street and the LIPA, an educational establishment that is still open thanks to the financial contribution of an illustrious former student, Sir James Paul McCartney.
It is said that when John Lennon received the news that his mother had been killed, they took him to this pub to give him some alcohol to cope with the shock. The pub is full of Beatelian imagery. There's a booth in the Pub that's a Boer thing, that's where they say John was put.
