I have visited Bbar on a weekday lunchtime and it was only around 50% occupied. There were some larger groups of people having lunch whereas others were on single tables just for a drink, so quite a mix. The atmosphere is quite dark and elegant, with gold and animal print decor. The staff were friendly and you were given a warm welcome. The cocktail menu was extensive, there was not a large food menu, but there was a variety of options that should suit most palettes. The food was cooked well, I'd definitely recommend the salt beef sandwich if you visit as it was the best dish from our selection.

Loved this place! One of the highlights of my trip to London was going here. I didn’t know until later that Bbar was associated with the Ruben hotel next-door. Look at the photo of my Gin drink, blueberry, grapefruit and coconut. It was as good as it looks. The service was excellent, the food had Indian spices.

Beautiful decor, incredible staff!! We were in a rush for a show and they really pushed the meals to come out as quickly as possible, thank you to the chefs and the waiters!! The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. If you go for a lunch/dinner deal, the prices are very good as well. Large menu. We'll definitely go again when we are back in London. It is really close to Victoria Palace theatre, great for a pre-show meal. 100% recommended!

While from the outside it may look like a busy / noisy watering hole you only have to look past and walk through the bar area to what ends up looking like a beautiful European bistro that serves lovely food with a south African influence, a great wine list and extremely attentive service - all very beautifully presented at a competitive price.

Amazing venue and outstanding service! We booked for 20 people on Marathon Day and it was perfect, the terrace area is lovely but we did end up going inside as it got colder. The staff were so attentive and helpful, would highly recommend to anyone.

Lovely place to go before seeing Hamilton!!! Staff were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. They organised a birthday cake for one of our party and were happy b to swap menu items to suit the tastes of our group. The decor and ambiance were authentic and we had a lovely time. DOG FRIENDLY IN LONDON!!! Whenever I'm in town with the pooch we visit Bbar. He always gets treated like royalty. Cocktail are great. Wine selection faultless. Dinner were lovely. Only thing I'd say is that the menu could do with a refresh, but you'd only notice this if you're a regular. The menu is great.

Randomly stopped in after a day of Palace sight seeing. It's decorated in an African theme and yet it works ok. Alex was out bartender and he was spot on. The coctails were very nice! Ive ordered watermelon mojito which I recommendd for anyone who haven’t tried it, never had issues with orders. It could get quite pricey, so make sure you’re keeping track on your orders (dont be like us and spend £450 😅). They also have blankets!! Perfect for cold and rainy weather

Have been here a handful of times. The location is great for Victoria and Buckingham Palace. The decor has a South African vibe but is starting to look rather old. It can get quite tight inside as some of the seats are quite close together (even when no one’s sitting in them). They have some nice big tables for groups. This is my go-to place for Cobb salad, it’s the best place that I know of. The piri piri chicken was tasty as was the sweet potato fries. Annoyingly they add VAT onto the bill afterwards which is rather naughty in my opinion making the meal 20% more expensive than you had originally intended.

The best fish always the best fish straight from the market. You also send a postcard anywhere in the world on them. Very tasty ice cream dessert. Highly recommended and also a very welcoming staff.

I think South African is a misleading term for this bar but what I will say is that the burgers (classic cheese) and drink (Peach and rosemary sort) Were AMAZING. Had the soup of the day (potato) also fantastic! This bar did not disappoint, atmosphere was nice, great 80s mix of music but still classy. Wait staff was fantastic and the restrooms were clean.

Had the afternoon tea here with a group of friends. Staff were very friendly, funny and attentive. The restaurant has an African theme which was tastefully done. The chairs were so comfortable to sit in, excellent selection of teas and the range of food was great. Favourite was the salmon and cream cheese and the plain scones. Great staff and great cocktails. Not so sure about how South African it is. Being a South African myself when I ordered a ‘bunny chow’ I had certain expectations. What I received was a hand full of curry in what can only be described as a roll. A far cry from an authentic bunny chow. Still tasty, but hardly what I was expecting, especially in terms of size/quantity. Still, I do recommend the place on the whole.

This place was fantastic. Came in with a party of 9, we were seated quickly and put in our orders. The staff went over all the Gluten free options and even suggested a few edits he could make to existing dishes. I ordered the beef goulash and that was terrific. The staff was attentive and friendly. We did have to wait a bit for our food, but with a table of 9 I understand and the food was worth the wait. Everyone in our party liked their dish.

The best cocktail bar in Victoria is up and running again! Was there yesterday. Victoria is unbelievably quiet still but the spacious BBar was a fantastic welcoming venue. The cocktails are brilliant especially at happy hour🍹🍹 There are snacks and main meals. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Take a walk around the palace and the parks or go shopping and finish with a cocktail and a bite to eat. What's not to like! Treat yourself...

A great place for a lunch with four kids aged between 2 and 13. The staff were great and very accommodating. One of the kids didn't want ice cream so they made him a yoghurt dessert instead. The quality and quantity of the food was very good. Some places seems to pay lip service to the kid's menu, just to say they've got one. Not bbar. While the menu is small the quality of the kids' food was as good as the adult meals.

Food excellent!!! My husband and I shared a cheeseburger. It was brought to us on separate platters, with the fries in small heated buckets (really helped to keep them warm. The sauces on the side were mayo and a BBQ flavored salsa. My hubby dropped his fork - the waiter showed up in seconds with a clean one -- now THAT'S attention to detail!

In my opinion, this is a bar offering some food choices, rather than a diner. When I visited it was with eight adults and six children as a group (some were staying in the Ruebens hotel, of which this bar is a part). The staff were great (and good looking!), the service was quick and the bar let us use the interior seating area even with a dog, and they provided a water bowl for said hound. Prices are not cheap but then it is just across the street from Buckingham Palace. Recommended if you are passing and need to stop for a break and a drink.

The comfy armchair style chairs were a nice addition to the already lovely restaurant and were especially great after a long day on our feet shopping! The place has a kind of african theme going on (but not the menu which is varied if not very large) and very relaxing. We had a two course pre-theatre menu and everything was delicious. The restaurant also has an extensive cocktail and wine menu. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Only problem I had here was that their online menu was an old menu which destroyed my expectations when I got here (reason why Service isn't Excellent). Though the food was great they didn't have Malva pudding. Excellent staff that's been there for years and super friendly. If you're looking for a place to sit down and grab a bite while sightseeing this is the place. Just note that they no longer serve Malva Pudding

Delicious food and very friendly staff. We had the spring rolls as a starter, and they were nothing like any rolls I've had in Chinese, Thai, or Vietnamese restaurants. Great flavors in both the rolls and dipping sauce. For main course, I had the Africa Burger that was quite good. It had very good flavor and texture, and the toppings were great. My wife had a steak (don't remember which one), and it was very tender and flavorful. She ordered it "medium" and said that if she had known that it would be so thin, she would have ordered "medium rare". It was maybe a cm think. Sides were creamy spinach, which was in the top 5 I've had, and mashed potatoes. The potatoes pleased my wife, but I would have liked some additional butter on them. Desert was a trio of ice creams. The mint chip is not actually chips of mint candy, but what in the US we would call "mint chocolate chip". It's a very popular flavor, but not what we were looking for. There was also a chocolate "maltese" (or something like that), which was sort of a chocolate chip and had good flavor. The star was the honeycomb. To drink, my wife had a "dirty martini". We couldn't taste the gin for the olive juice. She asked for it "very dirty", so we can't really complain. I had a "Dark and Stormy", which was made slightly differently than in Bermuda, but still very good.

If you're South African and you want a taste of home at a not so exorbitant price then be sure to visit here. From the decor to desserts, I was wowed by it's authenticity and outstanding quality. Don't get me wrong it was still fairly pricy but for it's location and pap and boerie containing menu it is well worth a visit. Try the sharing starter platter, just as spicy as a curry from Durban but if you closed your eyes long enough, you'd think you were there!

A great find opposite Buckingham Palace. High quality food that once disproves a no-longer valid opinion that England is home to the world`s worst cuisine. The safari themed decor is actually quite nice as compared to the stuffy, hoity-toity restaurants and the many pubs populating the landscape. As a south African myself, I enjoyed the decorations and furniture. However, there were only 2 dishes I could recognise distinctly recognise as 'more locally popular back home' (chicken livers and bobotie with Mrs balls chutney), which we had and enjoyed and the music would be better with zulu music, etc. And I believe the owner is from Cape Town. Would also be great to attract more SA waiters and with the exchange rate, should be a good chance!
