O. R.Great pies, mash, gravy. Do I need to say more? We sat outside because it was August (but clearly not too warm to eat pie). Service was good. Jackfruit veggie pie excellent.
J. D.After several Pieminister deliveries during lockdown, it was great to have one in the pub with a glass of wine. Great service and friendly.
S. N.Post Covid visit for a pint of Harveys Draft Bitter. As usual, well kept beer and felt very safe with one way system, screens and extensive rear garden and front drinking area. Family run business with a Pieminster franchise (damn good pies) and friendly efficient bar staff. Easily the best pub for miles.
L. V. L. a. S. /. f. A. P.I love visiting this pub. The barmaid's are all lovely and we occasionally have a right ol' laugh with them. Such a welcoming place. Took some photos of Clay pipes they've got on display last week actually. The food is lovely too. The drama group I belong to always go there for a meal after our technical rehearsals. I can't remember what life was like before I'd had a Moo & Blue. Together with the barmaid's, I have been desperately to persuade the landlord to have another karaoke night... we will persuade him... oh yes, we will persuade him. If you're on Old Dover Road and fancy wetting your whistle - pop in and tell them Louise sent you!
R.Good pub, larger than it looks, very nice pies and very chatty bar staff.
Group of us popped in for food and drink on a stag night and they were very acomadating.
F. W.I met up with some friends at lunch time and the pub was still very strict about 2 metres apart. The staff come over and take your orders. You cannot order from the bar. We had lunch and 2 beers. Everything was excellent food & beer.

Friendly bar staff, the pub is so clean and a good atmosphere. Pies are fantastic and well worth every penny. Music nights are great, but we have not tried the quizzes yet. The beer is cold and very tasty 😀

T. S.Classic British pub with a good drink selection and great food. The pies are absolutely delicious and worth the visit by themselves. There's also a very nice beer garden out back which is lovely in summer.

Good for a quiet drink on a lazy Sunday. Beer garden out back. Seating out front (overlooked by a New Orleans style balcony). Pies from Pie Minister are pretty decent. Lucky for me it's my local!
D. G.I grew up near this pub. It was always known as the best in the area, although I guess that wasnt saying a lot. It's a friendly welcoming place with no blaring music and traditional decor. Theyve introduced food with a pie and mash menu. In my opinion that is slightly over-emphasizing their identity as a working persons boozer. However the pies are really good and good value as well

Thought the bar staff were good though were very busy as it was firework night in Blackheath.
Great rock & roll band on as well, No Man's Band.
Will definitely return & highly recommended to visit.
Returned 16th April 2021, to catch up with friends & was disappointed.
Sat outside & waited for service & waited...eventually had to flag a server down.
They were more concentrated on serving the locals that new clients.
Found the servers couldn't remember more than 4 drinks in a order...
They seemed to be short staffed but hopefully they will get it together for the future!

J. K.I've only ever been here on a Saturday night, with the live music in the back room. It's fairly compact, especially if there's a few in the band, but it makes for a great atmosphere. A good evening out.

P. W.I occasionally pop in, and started visiting more frequently when the Royal Standard was refurbished (early 2015) and became more expensive and less of a locals' pub. As a beer drinker, I like that the Oak has a regularly changing selection of real ales, and the staff are friendly and welcoming (nice to get a cheery "good night and thanks!" when you leave).
Does occasional live music, including the Blackheath Folk Club on a Tuesday evening.
a. b.Thank God this beautiful old English Pub has been revived! Not only has it been lovingly restored, but it has a real live Pieminister Kitchen! What is not to like!? An experienced landlord and landlady now at the helm is prevalent with lots of stuff going on week to week! Bravo!
