Reviews of Champagne Charlies
W. B.
Lovely place to spend a night.
I visited for a company dinner and we all had a great time. Definitely a great variety of wines.
The food was nice and well prepared but nothing exciting. Their strong point is definitely the drinks department. The premises are really interesting. Really nice atmosphere. Will need to go back with less people to have a better experience of the service.
P. D.
Great cosy spot in the heart of London, amazing selection of wines and the food is spot on, all for a fairly reasonable price. The customer service was exemplary, and staff were extremely kind and attentive. Would highly recommend!

What a stunning place, a cellar bar located in "The Arches" beneath Charring Cross Station. Blighted by the Covid episode with a distinct lack of visitors an the office crowd. Nevertheless, a brilliant welcome and a most appreciated pint of beer. The place is something of a labyrinth with brilliant "Crooks and Nannies" everywhere. If you want a place for a meeting, you can book private office space, fantastic! An amazing place, do not miss out!

Very nice restaurant!! The food was good!! I would recommend it.
J. B.
Very good food and a decent selection of beer. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was chilled out and relaxed the only thing I would complain a little about is the price of the food which was a touch on the pricey side. The beer was cheap though. All in all a very good place that I would recommend

Best place to have dinner and drinks ,Christmas 🎄 party 🥳
M. Z.
Lively place hidden away with decent wine and a sensible Christmas dinner
K. W.
Christmas party good food good service! We booked our annual Christmas dinner here and of all the pub chains we have been to for Christmas dinner this by far we all agreed was the best. Food was good not over oily or over salted. We all ate a bit too much but very much enjoyed it. Great service. Recommend getting one of the private dining rooms for dinner.

I had my birthday party at the function room here and it was perfect. Great venue and great staff at an affordable price for central London. It can be crowded in the evenings if you don't have a booking, but a nice alternative to the totally sterile pubs you often encounter centrally.

Lovely looking pub/bar. Ales in steel tankards is a lovely touch. Obviously faux traditional boozer. But don't hold that against it. It is a central London bar. It is afterwork crowd. It is suits. It is pretty darn good despite of that. 😉
Great menu. Great wine selection.

Great traditional wine bar where you can get served without queuing on a Saturday night and you can hear yourself talk unlike most busy bars and pubs in central London. Nice and cosy and has booths for larger groups. Been going here over the years and never a bad word to say. Great for those wine /champagne drinkers.

This restaurant/pub is hidden under the arches of Charing Cross station. It’s like a labyrinth of small dining areas for smaller or bigger groups. There are a few private dining rooms as well. It is underground and the old walls, the interior and the decoration gives the place an old school look and feel. It is very cosy. The food is alright, like in a normal pub, maybe with a better selection of dishes. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is a bit pricey but worth a try!

A popular haunt for our office as well as others nearby it seems! For the most part, it's an upmarket gastropub slash restaurant in the back. It's underground and has an inviting catacomb kind of feel to it. The bar service is good, but the table service for the restaurant is far superior. The service is reserved but friendly, and attentive. The venue is mostly open, as well as separate rooms and bookable areas - with platters and bulk drink options that make it a great work drinks venue.
The prices are slightly more than reasonable for central London, but worth it for the food! Whilst most of the meals are good, they serve a distinctive sausage dish that is a crowd pleaser every time! The crowd is in fact quite varied, from young office workers to more senior clientele, though I find at lunch it's more popular with the pensioners strangely! I'd say great for after work drinks and nibbles, nothing special otherwise!

I held a large dinner in one of the private dining rooms. Gary and Dominika were incredibly helpful in the lead up to the event and the evening was a great success. The food and wine was delicious and everything ran smoothly. We had such a jolly evening and felt so well looked after. Many thanks!
J.
Excellent wine selection plenty of seating and a cosy atmosphere. Staff Excellent and Mediterranean sharer was delicious. Its in the arches under the station so something a a bit different to visit

It is always sensible to reserve a table over the phone or internet as Champagne Charlies, like most London establishments, can become quite crowded after 5pm. The venue is in a cellar located under Charing Cross Station and is deceptively spacious with numerous, quirky alcoves affording a sense of privacy. The food is good quality standard pub fare and very satisfying. The atmosphere is most convivial due mainly to the lovely, patient staff. Our thanks on this occasion go to the two Anna’s and Gary The General Manager.
G. C.
Good service, nice environment, typical choices if English pub food. I was mistaken the name of the restaurant and though it was a French restaurant. Anyway, spent a nice evening there. No problem to go back. Location is also very convenient.
A. A.
Interesting space with lots of seating areas. Staff were fairly friendly drinks were fine. A little cold inside and no real music or atmosphere.
S. H.
Good for a drink of you're in the area and don't have many options, say, if all trains from Charing cross are cancelled. The prices are high and there is no mobile service and the free WiFi is sketchy at best.
E. L.
I came here about 4:30 on a Wednesday and it was not crowded at all but it started to pick up a bit after 5. The location is convenient near Embankment and Charing Cross Stations. The staff were polite but but left us alone for the most part. I shared the two cheeses plate. It was pretty small, but the cheese selections were great.
V. L.
Like all Davy's establishments this is full of character. While I've not eaten here, past experiences at other establishments have been excellent.
A great place for an after work drink, a date or a party.
T. G.
Less raucous than the alternative, just around the corner. Better choice if you want to sit down inside, in a slightly more relaxed environment. The wine selection is arguably better whilst still in the same price bracket.
D. G.
Great little restaurant 2 floors down under the arches. Staff were excellent and food great.
We had a nice little private area.
Highly recommend.
P. C.
Attended as part of a corporate Christmas party. Food was nice enough, for the most part. The crayfish starter was overcooked, and the paucity of cheese selection was deplorable, but the sea bass and pesto mash main was very nice, as was the wine selection.
R. W.
Honest, high quality British fayre at reasonable prices and cheery, efficient service. Good draught beer selection and wide range of wines by the glass or carafe.
Unexpected for this busy part of town, right on the station doorstep.
Definitely will be back!
L. R.
I did wonder why on a Saturday night it wasn't very busy. We had to send back one starter, cold and not cooked. For a wine bar we had to ask twice to see a wine list! Service slow.
H. S.
Wonderful oldie World atmosphere with pewter beer mugs and exposed stonework. Convenient to stations and fair prices. Professional staff with a sense of humour.
L. B.
This place has great vibes and great food and wine, the staff are always very on the ball and friendly. You can either sit out with the masses or take a private 'Office' room which is quite fun. Would recommend completely.
I. E.
Brilliant place, super friendly service, lovely wine list, food is reasonably priced and tasty! Shame we were in a rush for the theatre or we’d have stayed longer!
H. P.
Friendly efficient service.
I've only had drinks here; the coffee is really great, and I've had some interesting red wines from good selection - plus the champagne by glass is worth it (but not too many!).
S. T.
A great little hideaway. Private rooms make this a business gem. Food was very good. Wine selection good. Service was attentive.
D. H.
Always reliable, wine always delicious, service great, good food, great atmosphere. It's my local at work and I love this place.
J. M.
Love the pewter ale jugs!
S. B.
A welcome quiet corner, polite and welcoming staff with an excellent selection of quality wines
M. M.
Nice ambiance, great wines...will try the food next time
I. G.
Nice but they keep a lot of empty tables for dinner in the middle of the afternoon, with many customers standing. Could be better organised.
c. o.
Great spot to go for a drink! Great prices and not too busy which is two bonuses for central London!
J. S.
Great social bar with heated outdoor seating areas
D. M.
Hidden away this is a pleasant surprise near both Charing Cross & Embankment. Unlike most bars in the area, you can actually get a seat!
A. J.
Well that was a hidden surprise!
Lovely Bibble beer served in pewter pots and a great atmosphere made for a welcome stopover before dinner.
E. S.
Very pleasantly suprised!! Great service, great drink selection and the food was cooked by a very competent chef.
K. Y.

A new favourite in the heart of London
S. P.
We haven coming to this place for over 35yrs.. tbh - not a lot has changed over the years. But this time 3* ONLY because the Veggi Sharing Platter wasn't worth the price. It consisted of .hand-full of corn nuts, scoop of olives, few strands of pickled grilled veg, one pitta and table spoon of humus for £24 is rather rich..TBH - to plate that up at ' home ' would ppbly cost less then£5., so a five fold mark up is very much a rip off - even in current market conditions. BE REASONABLE - then people will come back and spend more. otherwise - it will be a quick pint place only.. Wines - I guess - OK

Great little hideaway in Central London.

(Translated) Great place with nice atmosphere. We reserved a table here for New Year's Eve, and had a very nice dinner here. The steak was perfect! Also had a waitress named Anna, she made the experience complete. Can safely recommend this to others.
