Reviews of Clock House
A. K.
We've Been going to this place for years now... and this weekend we (again) opted for the vegan roast and again it was amazing. The Vegan meatloaf is out of this world. The service is bright and cheery, the food a big step up from the usual pub grub...and the atmosphere is relaxed and generally lively. Quite a family oriented place with surprisingly well behaved kids and always a cute dog to make friends with. The only negative is that they don't offer vegan desert. Lucky i had an extra serve of roast potatoes.
B. S.
A great pub with a warm atmosphere. Unfortunately we experienced a very slow service, and very average food for the price. The salad in particular was very disappointing for £15. We went on a Sunday, and didn't order from the roast menu and perhaps that was the problem.
K. B.
OmG, the plant burger here is the best I've ever had in my life. No pictures, but take my word for it! In addition to this, great service and it's a nice little pub just opposite Peckham Park.
I'll be coming back soon.
P. M.
Despite it being somewhat chilly, we enjoyed our time at the Clock House. The service was good, our fellow patrons were happy ( especially the four legged kind) and the chips... The chips were triple cooked deliciousness!!! A good local and in sunnier and warmer times this is a great spot for whiling a few happy hours away.

Lovely atmosphere, nice staff and good food, was really quiet when we went so food came out pretty quick and it was fab!
No straws, not sure if they just ran out or not though.. Heaters outside for the smokers.. Had a lovely lunch
M. S.
The food's absolutely delicious. The music was almost at perfect level throughout the entire day last time I was there. Customer service at a very high level. Strongly recommend trying once and you'll be coming back from your own review. I know I am! :D
M. P.
Last weekend we celebrated my daughter's birthday. Great atmosphere! Amazing , delicious food!!! Friendly stuff,we had a great party !!! Definitely will come back again 🍾🍤🍗
D. T.
Quick lunch stop with client. Seems like a nice place, steak was nothing special, but ok for the price. Service was a little slow, but staff were doing well on a very hot day.
G. A.
A cosy pretty pub.
Beautiful patio area over looking the park for the summer nights. Lovely hidden booths and areas for those cold winter nights. It's easy to get lost in time snuggled up with a loved one or catching up with friends. The food is really tasty as well!
I. R.
First time there and I’ll definitely be back. It’s a super cozy place with a great atmosphere. There’s a front room with mismatched seating for just lounging, socializing, and drinking, there’s a bigger back room for dining. The music playing is modern and fun (I sang song to most songs)!
The staff are very professional and warm. Most importantly however, the menu is very wellcthought out and the execution is excellent. I really enjoyed my meal 😋
J. B.
Low end pub food at high end prices. Nice venue though.
C.
Amazing local pub, great food options and a large selection of drinks and wines on offer! They also do a cracking pub quiz every week! Upstairs they have a private room for hire, it has its own bar and a secret entrance. The service was great and the food was amazing, gastro-home cooking at its best. Would definitely recommend if you are in the local area.
M. W.
1st visit here for food even though we’ve had a pleasant experience going for drinks previously. Took the gamble of booking a table for food when friends of ours came to visit. Our overall experience was ok but not great.
Positives: nice location, good decor, spacious, clean, excellent drinks selection which were all well served. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Negatives: the pub was quiet, but the service wasn’t particularly attentive. We kept having to go to the bar to find someone when we wanted more drinks even though it was table service. The food menu was fairly generic and quite poor for such an expensive pub. Food presentation was poor: if I’m paying £15 for a burger I’d like it to at least look nice, but it was on a bare plate with a handful of what looked like McDonalds fries next to it. The fries didn’t even cover the bare plate space. There was no garnish or any attempt to make it even look like this was a gastro pub. The food itself was reasonable, but certainly not outstanding by any means.
In summary, I’d say this pub is great for drinks, but there are much better options nearby for food.
B. C.
Absolutely love the clock house , it has a very homey environment and food selection is very good too :)
Took the other half for the first time and he absolutely loved it :)
Also you can bring your doggie here !
N.
Great service friendly staff always there to help.... had my 4 week old with me and they were nothing but nice and the service was perfect.100% I would recommend this place. Ps food was very nice too👍👍
m. j.
HAD A LOVELY PUB LUNCH AT THE CLOCKHOUSE IN BARRY ROAD.
STAFF WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND PLEASANT.
IT WOULD BE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE TO POP IN AND TASTE THE FOOD AND SAMPLE THE DIFFERENT ALES AND LARGERS AND WINE'S AND SPIRITS.....
YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED 😍
C. S.
Beautiful, cozy, warm and friendly place...nice to have a hot chocolate, in a cold winter's day!
D. R.
On a lovely Easter Bank Holiday weekend we switched our table to one in the fresh air. We had excellent roast dinners and great real ale.
A. S.
Very nice pub but I was disappointed with the burger, it was burnt and I couldn't really taste what kind of meat it was made of.
c.
After a Sunday morning stroll my OH suggested here for a bite to eat. A massive full English was the order of the day and boy was I stuffed!
J. B.
This pub knows how to make you feel special. We booked for lunch and had a fantastic experience! Friendly team, lovely pub, really tasty food. A plus that I could pay my bill via their app too, made it all so much easier on the day. Thank you for a great time!
P. M.
Cosy, attentive and friendly staff. Great food and wine. Great vibe.
C. L.
Greeted by a member of staff who led us to the host station who then led us to our table. Covid 19 measures have been implemented which is great. Hand sanitisers placed throughout the premises.
Our two rib-eye steaks were cooked perfectly and the triple cooked chips were spot on. Huge and delicious side of mac n cheese. The strawberry Eton Mess was nicely presented and tasted amazing.
Great service and great food, what else could you ask for!
R. B.
Nice food and pleasant interior. Service was a bit slow but attentive. Good selection of beers from Youngs.
D. G.
Pleasant attentive staff, very good value, wide menu. Outdoor areas well facilitated.
A. D.
Delicious food and drinks wish they had more non alcoholic options other than that lovely place
A. C.
Great Lovely service! Good food 💜 We celebrated a Bday🤩
A. C.
Excellent Youngs pub beer kept to exceptionally high standard.Service great from Melissa. Thank you
D. C.
Friendly, attentive staff, great food, and nice views of the park from the terrace. One of London's gems.
J. G.
Had lovely lunch here yesterday...Sunday.. with partner , daughter and granddaughter... table outside.ordered food and drink on app..burger / fish and chips/ fish cake...all piping hot , plentiful and tasty....
p.
Good food great atmosphere but the chips was French fired for £4 real chips would have been better
Y. M.
The service was good, but the quality of the food wasn't worth the price. Won't return.
C. W.
Excellent roast dinner - best I've had in any pub locally. My partner had the vegetarian option which was also great. Huge portions all round. We were there between 1-3pm and it was very busy - would advise booking ahead.
h. c.
Very nice clean cosy pub with attached garden. Food was very tasty, well cooked and hot.
Only criticism was one of my friends is disabled and we were told when we arrived the toilets were upstairs which meant she had to struggle up seventeen steps.
We didn't realise there was a disabled toilet tucked away on the ground floor. It is always best to make new customers aware of this.
Apart from that, everything was very nice including the staff and the ladies toilets were spotless.
C. D.
Staff are really friendly and the position is great, just across the road from the park. The prices seemed very reasonable. I was gutted that they had run out of pies. I had the burger though which was very tasty. Service was still fairly swift given how busy it was. The atmosphere is very relaxed.
J. C.
Nice friendly pub staff were friendly and the pubs nicely presented inside and out, location next to the park makes it a nice little spot
H. L.
Super friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. They got back to my initial email enquiry really quickly and booked the upstairs room for a group of us at very short notice. The couldn't have been more helpful, the staff on the day were great and the food really nice too. We'll definitely be going back
P. D.
Ate a delicious lunch in this comfortably furnished pub/restaurant with my sister for the first time. Was served by a friendly, courteous waiter and will definitely visit again after eating a tasty chicken pie followed by a delicious cheesecake, which was washed down with strawberry infused gin and tonic! My sis enjoyed her creamy fish pie too. A great, cosy place to hire out for events such as Xmas or birthday parties.
D. W.
I have visited several pubs in S. London during C-19 restrictions which have ranged from the downright rude to awkward and complicated. The Clockhouse have got it spot on. Warm welcome, shown to a table, waiter service. Cant eait for lockdown 2 to end.
E. S.
Myself and my partner went to The Clock House for a quick lunch, just over a week ago, before visiting family in the surrounding area. We were so glad to have stumbled upon this pub, the staff were warm and welcoming, and very understanding of our time constraint! A special mention to Kira (sorry if that’s spelt wrong!) she made a real effort to make sure we were looked after and served quickly. We ordered off the brunch menu, my partner had the full English and I had the poached eggs on avocado toast, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The little things like smiley staff and good food, really make a trip that bit more enjoyable, thank you!
P. M.
Wonderful Sunday lunch with the family. Service was efficient and even my fussy 4 year old enjoyed their meal. Will be back with a few older friends very soon - the cocktail list looks exciting.
S. S.
The Sunday roast dinners are great value with all the trimmings and plenty of gravy. Seating outside provides a great view of Peckham Rye park. If you're looking for a place to host a party or event there's plenty of space out in the back of the bar area. All in all a cracking pub in the heart of trendy south east London.
A. P.
Food is lovely, atmosphere is nice and calm unless it's quiz night.
On Quiz Night it's fun and rowdy in a good way.
The only thing is like is more comfy sofa-ish space.
S. L.
Love this pub...for one it's beautiful in the inside. The refurbishment was done nicely. Call me strange but I'm not a big fan of dark and depressing pubs. The food is great and the service has consistently been good. I love sitting in the cozy couches upstairs. Great location too, walking distance to the beautiful Peckham gardens... can go for a stoll after a nice roast and work off those calories. Dog friendly too :)
J. G.
Great Young's pub with a bunch of ales and beers available. Food is fantastic – classic pub grub such as fish & chips, a good burger, and top notch Sunday roasts.
The thing that stands out for The Clock House is the staff – without fail, the staff at The Clock House are friendly, quick to help, and always make me want to come back.
O. L.
Really nice little pub with snug area. Had a few good beers on tap and although we didn't eat, the food looked very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Baby changing facilities and they seemed to accommodate dogs too...
P. A.
I hired "the dining room" for my mums funeral reception. It is so lovely, bright and spacious. There is also outside seating areas with views overlooking the park.
We were looked after by Eduardo, Isaac and the rest of the team, they were excellent. They made us feel very welcome and they were so organised and efficient.
We had a variety of canapes to start, then meat/fish platters and later on cheesecake to finish. Compliments to the chefs.
There was also a variety of tea, coffee and soft drinks. Orders made at the bar were served quickly , as Isaac certainly knew his stuff!
A "Big Thank you " to you all for making this day so memorable .
K. Y.
Very good service staff, starters were delicious, but a little on the pricey side. I wouldnt pay £14 for the plant burger again.
G. C.
Very nice place friendly staff, I have already recommended to friends some time ago. However ,great to revisit and see the pub and improved even more. Go see.
n. v.
This place has been recently refurbished and it seems more like a restaurant setting now than a pub. none the less it’s still a very nice place to have a drink, It's is modern, stylish and sophisticated and it’s a family and dog friendly place. The table terrace outside provides an excellent place to dine in the open air and soak up the sun in the summer. The service is usually attentive and friendly; its location provides an excellent starting point for an afternoon wander around Peckham Rye.
S. T.
Went here for a Sunday roast which was fine, the place was heaving, very yummy mummys and family orientated which is okay for some on a Sunday. I do really like this place on a week night though. They have a snug with 'Alice and Wonderland' style lights and it is a really nice place to have a drink and chill out. A little pricier than it should be but the decor and polite staff make up for it
A. B.
I attended a leaving do for two of my friends and work colleagues on the evening of Friday 6th October 2017.
The pub was welcoming and beautifully presented. It was spacious inside and out. A section of the pub downstairs had been allocated to us. The staff were friendly and attentative. The food prepared for our evening event was tasty and well presented an excellent choice. Thank you chef.
I would definitely hold other events at this pub.
We all had a fantastic time.
Clockhouse, keep up the good work and friendly atmosphere.
A. T.
Popped in to meet some friends on Friday evening after work. I turned up with my bike and was expecting to grab keys from said friend and drop it off in their house but the friendly barman let me leave it by the stairs inside which was most welcome.
I only had a soda and lime but the same barman was keen to make sure it had enough lime in it (which it did) and was quick to bring food menus when we asked.
The food was ok, nothing special but not awful. I had a salad which was a little on the small side but tasty enough. Some of the others had desserts which looked good and got positive reviews.
I'd imagine I'll be back because of the welcoming staff and the proximity to a friend's house.
A. Z.
The atmosphere was cosy and selection of alcohols good. They host some slightly more unusual evenings, like a celebration of Scottish music for st. Andrews day. Things like this make the clock house stand out from your regular pub. Staff are very friendly. Would definitely return.
J. L.
37 years old had Sunday dinner ever Sunday and let me tell you this is the best place I have ever been in my life for a Sunday dinner!!! My brothers mum and daughters went and no one likes the same place for a Sunday dinner apart from here, honestly try it you wont be disappointed x fab staff, food & drink and my daughters made to feel has welcome the adults were, was so nice.
M. B.
Incredible ambience and positive atmosphere. Famous Monty Python hang out. Especially kind and professional service from Jamie. Savannah and Isaac are so friendly and cool too. One of the best drinking venues in South East London....😉
A. B.
Really liked this pub. Nice garden but also great space inside, looked cosy for winter. Wine list uninspired but that's fairly normal in a lot of pubs! Would like to return for food
M. M.
Came in on a Thursday, fun pub quiz and great atmosphere. Served by a lovely young lady, i believe was called Ione. AND it was happy hour, with delicious cocktails for only £5, (shock for London)! overall a great evening, with amazing service and fabulous vibes. Will deffo be returning soon!
B. Y.
Good Sunday roast for £16 and it's a generous portion! The beef was tender and the roast potatoes were done well. Maybe not the best and but worth a visit
A. A.
Lovely views over the common.
Gets busy in the bar area so you may not always get a seat. You can book a table in both the bar area and restaurant though.
Good food and nice selection of drinks but at high prices.
Quiz night is fun as well.
A. G.
Good, honest, home cooked food at a reasonable price.
All served by friendly, covid aware staff.
Will definitely recommend and return.
S. S.
Nice location and good cosy interior with decent garden. Unfortunately there's a mismatch between price & quality. Good selection of beer but pricey. Food was very average but expensive (£15 for burger). Staff were nice but service was quite slow when we were there and wasn't overly busy.
T. L.
Comfy, nice looking place for a drink. Decent beer on tap, good food... waiting staff were having a shocker but hopefully that was a one-off... I won't be rushing back but wouldn't avoid it either... its alright!
N. c.
Lovely local pub with a good selection of real ales, ciders and wines. Lovely gastro style food. Reasonably priced too. Staff were really helpful and friendly.
E. G.
Very nice pub with friendly staff and and a great offer the food menu looks great an there I a hidden gem a private dining room on the first floor perfect for family gatherings or private parties. X
J. B. M.
Great food, good variety of drinks and a cracking bloody mary! If you go for Sunday roast you can choose to have ALL the available meats (pork belly, roast chicken and beef when I was there) on one plate for a extra few quid which is more than enough for two to share.
A. B.
this is a great pub, perfectly situated opposite peckham rye. in the summer the outside is packed with people soaking up the suns rays with a pint and in the winter it's cosy and warm. the recent refurb has meant that its lost some of it's charm but the beer is generally always good as its a youngs pub. there are generally 3/4 ales on with youngs bitter and special being permanent fixtures. the back of the pub now caters mainly for food as a gastro pub style restaurant and upstairs has been opened up as a new area to drink and chill out in.
Every Thursday and Friday from 5-9 they have £5 cocktails!
P. A.
I have fallen in love with this place all over again , I had such a fantastic Christmas here, pigeon was absolutely spectacular , I honestly was little worried my Christmas could be ruined by just a single meal, But they nailed it . I would also like to thank Rushia, for running around like a headless chicken on a Christmas Day to satisfy our needs . Thanks again .
B. M.
Good Saturday drinking hole. Next to Peckham Rye and good quality real ale. Youngs is a firm favourite in our house. Beer garden decent if a bit noisy.
s. m.
I like the Clock house as a venue but what let's it down is that the draught beers are often off and the food range fairly limited and standard fare. Relative to the Lordship Lane type pubs it's not top choice but if at or near Peckham Rye common it's a perfectly acceptable watering hole.
A. H.
Nice modern pub good ambience, with great cocktails.
Also with great outside area. Staff are very friendly instantly made to feel welcome.
Thanks guys!
S. W.
Helpful staff. Food; some interesting creations. Apple and rhubarb with custard delicious and a large portion. Down side is the chairs the covers of which were full of stains. Not pleasant to sit on.
A. A.
Very nice pub next to Peckham Rye. Cocktails are really tasty. Offers a good range of food at a reasonable price. Friendly staff.
C. D.
Nice pub, efficient staff. Would have got five stars but enormous influx of mothers, babies and small children at 4pm on a Friday afternoon put me off.
H. W.
This was my local for a year and staff always very friendly.. I especially enjoyed a gin tasting evening and learned lots about gin (and drank a few) lovely little pub.. especially the view of the park on a sunny day.
R. T.
Came here for a friend's surprise party. A room was hired out behind what looked like a wall of books. Very cool place and nice food.
G. W.
One of the best roasts I've had at a pub. Great service from Tanya , cosy atmosphere and delicious food.
P. E.
We realised with some shock that we have been visiting this pub since before the current bar staff were born! Living in Somerset now our visits are fewer but coming back still feels like home.
I. C.
Very large portions. Everybody enjoyed their lunch.
M. W.
Dropped in for a last minute Sunday roast. Food was fantastic and the service was perfect.
Will be back and definitely recommend!
D. M.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, is somewhere where you can talk even on a Friday night, as the music is not too loud and so are the people. A real nice place!
S. B.
First visit last night. Had a great time, such a cosy pub with a great atmosphere and food. I'll be back!
B. M.
Fine Youngs ale to wash down a pork pie. A comfortable and friendly pub with fine views over Peckham rye park.
m. b.
I went with a friend for dinner at the clock house the surroundings were lovely, staff really polite and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious
G. M.
Ok pub. Quite small at the front where the bar is but looks larger at the back where the restaurant seems to be. Nice staff though and very comfortable
N. P.
Good pub with plenty of locals, a little bit on the expensive side but we'll worth it. Great room/bar upstairs
I. M.
The review is not reflective of the site It was just to stop Google pestering me for a review. I visited there in passing once or twice but did not feel my time there warranted a positive or negative review as either would be lying.
J. D.
Fun, friendly and down to earth staff. Good service and one of the best Sunday roast dinners in a long time.
L. S.
Nice pub, friendly staff, good service, lovely food. Nice to pop in after a walk around the park.
O.
Top place, working in the area needed a toilet, asked for a pint of soda n lime on a hot day and it was free with a smile.
The world still has hope
E. C.
Well, the place is nice, especially on a sunny summer evening, but pricey; honestly, a beer and a pimm's for 8.65 quids? Come on, I don't fancy to drink a lot more now.
H. A.
I didn't think three stars was bad for a pub. I go here regularly and like it. Call it grade inflation but I'll up it to four stars.
A. T.
A pleasent surprise, every time we visit. The brunch roll is a must! Pleasent, helpful and friendly staff.
J. R.
We just stopped for a quick beer on a hot day. Well kept beer and friendly service.
H. J.
Beautifully done, cosy and welcoming
S. L. C. C.
Their cottage pie is really well worth a try, and you'll definitely have a great time if you visit them on any Saturday afternoon!
W. B.
Food very nice and atmosphere bustling but quiet. Food quite expensive for things like sandwiches, but staff friendly and helpful and big meals quite enough!
C. A.
We visited their upstairs space, Blake's, for a friend's birthday, the staff were very friendly, the space very nice, reasonable prices. Will visit again.
d. d.
Very smoky. Was sat by the food hatch. My clothes stank of cooking fat by the time we left. Food was okay. Ambience was lacking.
L. H.
Nice environment, friendly staff but food is expensive for what it is, steak was very disappointing for the price. There are better and cheaper options close by.
S. H.
Friendly atmosphere. Getting served can take some time when busy. Good value foodwise.
A. M. B.
Loved their food, nice hearty meals. Would definitely recommend going there.
P. J.
Lovely building, a couple of good beers, but not much for veggies on the menu...
J. B.
Great little pub where you'll be served great drinks, cocktails and food by lovely staff!
M. B.
Bloody love this pub! Was here for a pint the other night. Top service and a not too shabby beer. Well played barman .
R. M.
Atmosphere and food excellent, staff excellent , manager simply lovely and tentative in catering for all our needs.5*****
L. A.
Amazing service and amazing selection of drinks, especially on draught, specific shoutout to the supervisor Iona- very friendly!!!!
k. t.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, helpful friendly staff. Highly recommend
T. J.
Polite and friendly staff but more help needed to use the app
E. R.
Nice pub but massively overpriced for the area. £5.90 a pint is central London prices.
Go to The Gowlett instead.
J. S.
Absolutely amazing Mothers Day lunch. Highly recommend the food. Cant wait for my return visit
B. B.
Amazing staff and food, so good we had lunch on Christmas day there
L. G.
Great bar staff, you couldn't find a more lovely pair than Jack and Finn.
C. C.
Big portions, good selection of drinks, friendly helpful staff.
E.
I’ve been there twice. The place is very nice but there is no atmosphere... also the service is very slow.
M. I.
Good place to eat and/or drink. The service here is not the best but it is not too bad for a change from your regular place.
E. H.
It was a lovely surprise. The food was of a high standard. However, very expensive.
S. P.
Shannon was super accommodating and friendly — gorgeous atmosphere upstairs at Blake’s!
S. J.
Staff are great and so is the food! Sunday roast is amazing.
J. F.
Very well executed refurb. Good balance of modern and rustic, a perfectly calm place to chill after a long day in Dulwhich.
R. D.
Another average pub with a pub chain standardised menu that is quite uninspired. Beer was OK.
D. W.
For a summer time drink, you can't go wrong. Nice pub in a good spot by the park
M. T. H.
Good selection of pump beers. Very nice outside sitting areas.
m. m.
Great pub with a cosy feel. Large outside space perfect for watching the world go by.

C. B.

Nothing special, just a cheap, cheerful and clean Spoons. Filled with the normal clientele within the Lewisham centre.
N. E.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Top quality, highly recommend!
J. S.
Nice private hire room upstairs - good view of the Rye. Good service.
P. M.
It's ok but not the kind of pub that I would normally go to.

A great looking pub which looses some of its pulling power with its prices.
C. R.
Nice food , great atomosphere and excellent service
