Reviews of Dalston Superstore
D. J. M. L.
Fun ambiance, very welcoming and entertaining drag queen shows, highly recommend for brunch! Nice cocktails like mimosas and bloody Marys, lattes and hot chocolates! Loved the art/prints photos and the vegan food with a Brazilian hint: the chickpeas pancakes were surprisingly tasty
p.
Great vibrant bar with DJ
D. W.
Absolutely fabulous bar! The staff brought such a fabulous atmosphere, max was delightful!
Shame they have rude security, I witness a woman bouncer being so rude and aggressive towards a young lady, it was uncalled for and she looked like she was going to cry bless her, sort door people out but still 5 stars for how fantastic staff was!
X. P.
There is opportunity for them to communicate better on Instagram and other social medias when they are already fully booked, ie for Halloween.
M. C.
In spite of Covid, there was a great atmosphere. Generally impressed at how clear the expectations of the experience were communicated. Naturally customers were restricted to tables, but we're offered entertainment and staff were permanently present. They were well informed and understood the seriousness of the changes due to covid.
Systems in place for paying remotely and the service was still quick. There was virtually no wait for drinks.
Stunning example of somewhere taking things seriously while keeping everyone safe. Clear instructions on how to move around the bar - following arrows to toilet etc. Brilliant atmosphere, highly recommended.
A. V.
Intimately small queer nightclub. Pleasant staff and great atmosphere, drinks with London prices.

This is the only place I want to come for brunch when I'm hungover. Light and airy with great vegan options (vegan full English pictured below).
Z. C.
Food was excellent and great coffee. Staff were very friendly and energetic and were attentive to customers. The vibe of the dalston superstore is lively and happy, would come back again!
P. S.
Very sensible social distancing implementation. Excellent cocktail service. Although I'm afraid I must knock a star off as I found the drink ordering app really hard and confusing to use at first ☹️☹️☹️ My favourite moment of the evening was when a drag queen was doing a performance involving crawling across the bar, it was IMMEDIATELY blasted with disinfectant by particularly diligent member of staff. It was the most 2020 thing I'd seen all day.
L.
A gorgeous queer space! There is a fantastic vibe here, even with COVID measures in place. I felt safe and taken care of and would recommend to anyone wanting to grab a drink with friends and watch some top class drag performers/artists!
L. W.
Always a good time delicious drinks great community vibe
D. G.
Great venue , had awesome night this Halloween , shame security are rude though !
C. M.
The weekend brunch is amaazing! The Basic Brunch is as delicious and beautiful as the people serving - you just don't know what you want to eat! Its like an island of relief between Upper Street and Stokey, one of the best spots to be fed and entertained in the area
E. N.
Drag Brunch here is incredible! Great food & cocktails/mocktails, friendly service and amazing entertainment. A really inclusive and happy atmosphere which isn't snobby at all. Can't recommend it enough!
M. N.
Cool, relaxed atmosphere!) Good music, delicious cocktails!) 10/10
There is a room with a good bed where you can retire.
There is a little trick, if you want to get a free cocktail and a separate room for free for 2 hours, you need to register on site 909gay,com 😍and tell the bar the profile number, or provide a screenshot. The stock should work
😍

Drinks are 100% watered down. After not drinking for an entire month (sober for October) you'd think I would feel the affects of 3 double spirit/mixers, but I couldn't taste the alcohol at all and felt nothing. A man next to me at the bar was complaining of the same problem and the barman just shrugged at us.
I do love Superstore as it's one of the few gay bars in London that actually make women feel welcome. The music is usually really good and it's just a fun inclusive, atmosphere. Just make sure you do a lot of pre-drinking before you get there and don't waste money at the bar.
Oh and do NOT use the bathroom if you can help it
M. P.
Such a great environment, with colourful decoration and a nice staff. This place is a safe space for LGBT+ community! Definitely come her to have a coffee in the day time or to grab a drink and dance tonight!! 🏳️🌈✨
P. S.
This very inclusive gay bar attracts a local crowd with a traditional bar on the ground floor and a dance floor in the basement. Escape the Soho and Central London crowd to enjoy a drink with the locals. Crowd tends to lean more alternative, but all people are welcome and go. Grab some friends and enjoy a fun night out.
Reviewer based in NYC.

amazing venue, been here before covid for the club and came back today for the bar. Max was so kind and patient thank u so much for ur help tonight!!
A. W. (.
I went here in the daytime and had a nice time with my cooling fruity drink and a selection of magazines relating to gay culture. Pretty heavy on the gay male clubbing scene but you know, it is basically a club for gay men that just happens to have a cafe bar on the top floor. Liking the architecture, suitably quirky for the area, and the seating arrangement is inventive.
A. K.
Nice chilled out daytime vibe, with good coffee, great food and a decent selection of drinks.
The bar/waiting staff were attentive and friendly (very much so when compared to similar places in town). I'm getting on a bit now in gay years (37!) So tend to hang out here during the day rather than night time...

Truly an experience! Went to the homostash arabic edition party and had one of the best nights in a long time. I was truly surprised an event like this could exist in London though I shouldn't have been. Was happy to see a spectrum of people from different backgrounds. They played arabic music in the upstairs room and house music downstairs. Drink prices were not too bad for London.
G. P.
Disco brunch with Rhyees Pieces was amazing. We had such an amazing time. The staff were very accomodating for a large table of 10, the food was delicious as were the cocktails. Can't wait to go again. Thank you!
S. T.
This place is great for a night out. We went on a Sunday night to the sorry not sorry event. The music was nostalgic and really fun! Definitely recommend if you love a bit pop. Staff are mostly friendly and funny. On occassion some can be in a bad mood it seems, but the other staff members make up for it with there positive vibes.
C. C.
Just been here for the Power Ballad brunch. The full English was probably the best I’ve had in London - not your usual with enough quirks to satisfy a foodie like me. Plus a Sunday afternoon stuffed with my fave songs!
M. O.
When I was younger I spent many nights in the basement here, listening to amazing music, dancing like a weirdo, meeting incredible people, feeling liked I belonged - until you're kicked out in the early hours of the following morning.
Now I'm older I seem to spend more time upstairs, during daylight hours, stuffing my face on an excellent menu, hanging out with friends (and numerous charming queens), and being reminded how important this community institution is.
I can't find any faults in this place. I see some of the negative reviews here are centred around one-off experience (usually arriving too late to be let in) but urge those people to give it another chance. Nothing in my experience here has been negative. It's one of the only places I've been to in London that has something for everyone. I was there for its opening, have been a regular since and hope to be one for many years to come.
ה. ש.
Very welcoming
Great music
One of the fewest places opened on sundays
Loved the crowd

This is a very unique space and a vital part of the LGBT world. A cafe, cabaret, meeting place and venue to feel comfortable The Dalston Superstore is easy to miss....with little signage advertising the world inside.
Have taken two journalists to this space and they have written about it overseas.
Just delightful.
K. K.
Such a friendly and wonderful bar. The staff are always super nice and welcoming!
M. R.
A fantastic venue. World class DJs in an intimate and community-minded space; great decor, which changes regularly but still retains its uniqueness; art from interesting practitioners adorns the walls and creates a fitting atmosphere when combined with an aesthetic that goes hand in hand with its musical and culinary choices. I've had the pleasure of being both a regular, when I lived round the corner from '09 - '13, and as an occasional drop-by-er now that I live slightly further away. I still remember the opening night, and can honestly say I've had some of the best nights out of my life in this venue; a true Dalston delight.
S. E.
Nice spot for brunch. The boots by the bar are not well designed for eating food, grab one of the tables by the entrance if you're after something to eat. There's always some new artist's paintings hanging on the walls.
B. B. S. (.
Dalston Superstore is the bar I had the nicest underground and most creative party in London. Mostly with WUT?CLUB and other evening they are hosting. Very familial, to DJ sets, ground floor and the basement, the lights are great, the staff is nice, the crow is very often friendly and lovely. Strongly recommanded.
F. K.
Amazing place with a cool, sexy crowd.
I come here for drinks about once a week and love the downstairs club room.
The staff is nice and sassy and I always meet new friends in here.
C. S.
The show tunes brunch was so much fun! E.z.street and l'Archiduchesse were brilliant! I enjoyed every minute and can't wait to see them again!
Shantay you both stay!

One of a handful of bars that make Dalston Dalston. Love this place! Frozen margs 👌
R. C.
We really don't know what we have with Dalston Superstore. It is a gay/mixed club with a basement line up that lets you enjoy really top djs and live acts in different parties. It can get really sweaty downstairs and I really think that upstairs has djs and music that are "too" good for such a noisy environment, but the crowd is great, drinks are cheap and, again, the music - always depending on the parties and sessions - can be among the best in the Dalston night. And I'm talking about an area that has Dance Tunnel and The Nest really close.
K. L.
Showtunes Brunch with EZ Street is always a JOY (and I don't even like showtunes). My sister travels all the way from Welsh Wales to see EZ and Grace / snazzy special guests do their thing. Staff are all so lovely and everything is dreamy. Go!
S. D.
Their disco basement can get sweaty, but hosts some of the very best club nights in Dalston. However, don't forget that during the day, Dalston Superstore dishes up extremely good brunches and sarnies - with an interesting cocktail menu too. My favourite's the Dalston Negroni, a punchy mix of sloe gin, Campari and bitter vermouth. Gay friendly.
S. C.
Friendly staff and yummy burgers! I recommend going around 8 for dinner in the weekend then watch the place transform from a restaurant into a bar/club. Very fun.
M. Š.
Absolutely brilliant place for meeting. Lovely coffee, drinks and great food. Only visited during the day but the atmosphere was friendly and we loved the art on walls too.
m. l.
Great chilled vibe, nice staff and clever set up. Breakfast, lunch dinner and dancing at night with good line ups. Fun people on the whole. Drinks a bit expensive but worth it.
M. C.
Stumbled in, desperate for some warming coffee on a dreary, cold Sunday afternoon. Was overwhelmed by the amazing sound of the everyone singing power ballads together at the Drag Queen brunch. Thank you to the people who shared their table with us. X
Y. W.
Love this place the disco music is amazing and also such a great crowd. The only downside is it’s quite small when it’s only the room upstairs that’s open but still highly recommend.
M. d. L.
Two rooms with different music. Neither very dancey. Definite scene but not mine. Cramped but sometimes that's what you like in a club.
P. K.
This place is seeing a resurgence in the last year. A hub for the gay community in the East with incredibly fun nights. There is usually door policies but these make sense for particular nights and events.
C. J.
An absolutely lovely place! Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and the staff are just wonderful! This was a great place to spend my birthday in :)
P. S.
The most happening place in the increasingly trendy Dalston area, the Dalston Superstore is where its at if you're a fan of alternative music and alternative lifestyles. Full of local metrosexual Hackney hipsters there are gay nights, punk nights and more. The place to see and be seen.
B. C.
Best gay bar around. Always have the most fun nights here with the awesome disco music, great crowd and affordable drinks
W. J.
Love this place - any chance to get a bite I'll head on over. Kind of vibe you got in London or NY mid 90s, zero attitude just love
G. C.
Cute venue in Dalston area for drinks, coffee, brunch. A lot of young gay people having fun here all day long or even on special nights.
S. A. K.
Love this movie place. Lots of character. Come as whoever you are and be accepted! Basement always has great music and chill vibe.
L. S. (.
Very pleasant on a warm Wednesday evening.
Sat by the large open windows and enjoyed a few Peroni. I'l moving to the area so I'll definitely pop by again.
K. I.
Ace on a good night. Decent on other nights. Always fun. DONT TAKE YOUR DRINK OUTSIDE!
S. S.
Had cocktails and lunch here. Terrific staff. Great food, nice vibe and clean. Grateful value!
C. G. J.
I mostly come here for club nights and try and spend as little time as possible in the crowded bar area. Once I'm in the basement I can get lost in the amazing vibe on the dancefloor.
R. A.
On my way back to Heathrow. I popped in for a bite and nice it was..might seem abit rough area but the people there are honest and straight forward
L. R.
Nice place, pretty inside, good music, friendly, open late. Pints were 6£ though and toilet was icky.
Y. H.
Caring bar staff and DJ - making sure all felt welcome and that the party was fun for all the guests - small but well contained and maintained bar.
n. p.
Good bar, good vibes. A bit more interested staff is needed as well as better air con downstairs
S. P.
Really cool place with great staff day or night. I prefer to brunch there on a sunday (amazing bloody marys) and good vegan options.
T. C.
Nothing to say about Superstore, culture venue, safe space and great party’s especially during Fridays and Saturdays. Feels like home
T. B. (.
Very trendy LGBTQ bar in east London. Very good music. Always busy. Very popular.
R. G.
Surprisingly good food and super friendly staff. Great selection of drinks too.. a curve ball for daytime eats in Dalston
R. B.
Friendly, quirky, cafe by day, bar by night and disco by weekend. Good DJs, good atmosphere - anything goes - it's Dalston!
M. D.
One of my favourite nights out - get there in the day to eat a banging TLT ‘tofu, lettuce and tomato’ sandwich - delicious!
K. K.
Good place, recommend it.
Sometime very crowd, and monoton the music downstairs,
But most of all not bad place 😏
d. V. z.
A genuinely relaxed atmosphere. Nice people, good music, no aggression... A rare find in London.
M. K.
I honestly think these are the best burgers in Dalston. And espresso martinis (they use Allpress) 💁🏽♀️
D. T.
I love the cocktails and drinks. The music can be a bit unique and hit and miss so I suppose one has to take a risk here.
J. B.
