A pleasant bar on City road, opposite the north end of Finsbury Square. Wooden floors under a laid back open bar area, plenty of room for dining too. A good selection of beers, both cask and keg on offer. Also, lots of gin to sample. Happy attentive staff behind the bar, service was quick, polite and cheerful. Why Finch's? Henry H Finch is written on one wall, perhaps the 16-17th century lawyer/politician. An enjoyable place to stop off for a drink or for lunch in a pleasant informal setting.

Unassuming on the outside, but lovely inside! It would be easy to walk past this place, and for years I had thinking it looked ok, but never went in. It has a lovely welcoming atmosphere though, and although I didn't eat here it smelled as though it would be worth doing.

Traditional gastropub with excellent quality food! I visited recently for a corporate event on a Friday evening and it was packed! Our dedicated area was catered to with a nice selection of food that was delicious. Decent service and variety of drinks on offer. Good decor and clean toilets. Don't think there's more you can ask off a pub?

On City Road, roughly equidistant to Old St tube and Moorgate tube... good place for after work drinks. Have Neck Oil on tap. Good friendly service... and ate Halloumi fries. Pretty decent. RECOMMEND.

Nice place just off Finsbury Park close to the Moorgate tube station. Close to the Honourable Artillery Barracks where the London Skolars have their annual fixture against Wigan. Busy for a Friday lunchtime. Have Estrella (hope spelt right) which I like. Fish n' Chips a good'un.

Just a genuinely lovely venue with great coffee, fun and friendly service and some really unique and delicious food. We look forward to frequenting their downstairs bar which is often used for functions, when all these restrictions are finished!

Excellent authentic English pub. We live in strange times and Finches respects the social distancing and provides a warm welcoming atmosphere. The table service was very efficient and they even gave us some free sausage rolls, ticks all the boxes.

We had the best time celebrating a birthday here. The Manager and his staff were super attentive and went the extra mile to ensure everything was fun and perfect. We definitely felt spoiled! It was not too busy on a Saturday evening as in the city area, hence especially good if you prefer a dinner or celebration in a peaceful and lovely setting. A great pub!

A nice beer selection. I didn't try the food, but it looked good. It is roomy, well kept and felt pleasant. Bathrooms were clean, but had a broken soap dispenser. Perfect for conversation, even on a Saturday night.

Lovely pub, very nice interior, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food came promptly, looked great and was absolutely delicious! I can definitely recommend the salmon fishcake with the poached egg and spinach, and would recommend Finch's to anyone thinking of going!

Excellent selection of pub food staples. I chose the steak sandwich which was perfect for lunch. An open sandwich so no too big, and served with onion marmalade and blue cheese. We shared chips which appeared hand cut and were deliciously crispy. I would definitely return!

After Leaving the casting with our daughter at Die Cast Studios . We popped by this pub. Absolutely loved the food. A calm and very pleasant atmosphere. The food was also Superb. Finished off the end to our perfect day. Awesome.

Incredibly incredibly slow service. Drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive and food wise half the menu was out of stock, waitress was super grumpy too. The only saving grace was the atmosphere in the pub, had good decor and a reasonable buzz, so maybe it was just my table that suffered.

My friend took me here for lunch and i absolutely loved this charming pub/cafe/restaurant. Gorgeous decor, friendly & efficient staff, delicious fresh food, generous portions and reasonable prices. My coffee smokes salmon was a highlight of my lunch. Their onion rings also deserve a special mentioning :D I'm going to be back here very soon to try more dishes from the menu, as their burgers & chips looked pretty mouthwatering.

Have been a couple of times now with my team- the food is always really good. The reason I am taking a point off is because some of the staff dont seem to know what they are doing, the waitress at our table today forgot about our drinks, didnt really seem to want to be there. But the food is really good, you should check it out!

Used to prefer it when it was an old pub. Pretty sterile city pub/bar, if you looking for a pint you could do worse. In terms of lunch it's ok, they have this mac and cheese scotch egg which is great. The mains are pretty normal. Service was a bit poor, we went for lunch and had 2 different wrong meals brought to our table. Along with that one of our party's meals didn't arrive till we were all nearly finished with ours.

Decent enough breakfast - eggs were a bit salty though! Would definitely head there again on an early morning escapade as it isn't too busy although it is slightly out of the way with a fair walk included unless you work nearby!

A clean pub with nice staff close to my new office! A few of us went there for lunch and got a table in the back, for many it was our first time. Annoyingly all their fresh juice options were completely out even though it was clearly advertised on top of the menu. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. The latter was really good but I have to say the pulled pork was a bit disappointing. The bread was nothing special (almost like Tesco bread) and there was just not enough meat. The other choices like fish fingers and crab salad seemed better.

Great place to come for lunch during work and drinks afterwards, completely different atmosphere on both occasions but it works for the right time. Enjoyed a pint of Neck oil and some of their sharers with friends. Definitely worth it!

I like this pub. I preferred it when it was The Master Gunner but that was a few years ago. It felt like more of a proper pub then, it's still got a pub feel rather than city bar, but they've gone for the Shoreditch look in terms of decor which doesn't do it for me. Anyway, nice enough place for a bit of lunch and we've had a few work dos in the downstairs bit.

A nice pub for drinks: still looks like a traditional pub but without the film of grease and classier without being a bar. I give 3 stars because the food is oversold - the menu's make it sound like an upmarket gastropub, but the food when it comes is average to taste. Like the quiche i ordered sounded gourmet from the menu deacription but didn't taste like that, but it was just 'ok'.

Quirky vintage decor, chopping boards for burgers and little metal containers for chips. I don't mind those, the food here is reliably good. Chips are always hot & crispy, burgers have the right amount of toppings and the staff are usually quick to get you served. I wish there were a few more ales, that's all.

Great looking gastro pub. Good service but the food was average. No mushy peas for five fish and chips and only 2 small salads offered. Tortellini was a very small portion.
