Brilliant place.. Landlord Frank is an absolute legend.. Food is great.. Can't wait to visit again.. Ruby and football is shown too
M. D.
Not open as we passed by early morning on the way to Postal Museum but it catches the eye with the floral display and décor outside. Seems to be a good place to go when open too. Colonnade alongside also interesting in a, not usual in London, sort of way.
C.
Myles the chef did really well on the food! It was all very tasty!! The Sunday roast was lovley! Also Matt was very nice and attentive, nothing was a bother. I will be back if you guys are there!
C. P.
What a gem of a pub. Frank and the team are first class. A group of 12 lads on a stag do were accommodated by Frank with fairly short notice, for both the early kick off and the Joshua fight in the evening. Everyone had a great time. We’ll be back again!
M. K.
A great pub that serves lovely food and a healthy selection of ales and beers situated right behind Russel Square Tube Station. No need to explain why that's quite useful lol, that said, great place to relax and get a few cold ones down you after a hard days graft.
H. S. B.
Just had a delicious chicken and chips with cappuccinos, served by Zoey, the beautiful and lovely bartender. Cozy place, great staff :)
C. B.
Very friendly staff, was served by Zoe throughout the evening, who strove to make my visit a great experience A great hangout.

Lovely friendly welcome at this pub today. Good food at good prices. The bar staff were great and bent over backwards to give my husband the toastie he wanted! We"ll be back when we next come to London.
k. R.
You need to book online if you want to eat here, but can just walk in for a drink, staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, would recommend it

A lovely pub hidden away down a side street, just to the north of GT Ormond Street hospital. A fine welcoming from the staff, all are helpful and polite, happy too. There is a St Bernard on the pub sign, a friend at hand. I suspect the pub has not always been called this. If I was to name it -The Collonade- just because of the corner. The Collonade- also houses the Horse Hospital, now an art gallery. Formally, an elegant two storey horse stable and maybe more. This place requires more investigation.
The best thing is that the beer is great and everyone is making a Covid visit simple and enjoyable. Well done to the staff, thank you.
V. T.
Called for a last drink - very friendly staff and helpful for local knowledge (thanks Zoe, Matt and Myles) Very clean and tidy pub.
G. P.
Kitchen catastrophies in terms of food availability (and only being told when the food was served that some dishes were unavailable). However the rest of the food, when it did arrive, was very good and the barmaids did their best to ensure it was still a good experience overall. Thanks to them 👍
R. M.
Overall a nice pub and friendly. But the pie was really hard. I'll visit again if I'm nearby it I'm avoiding the pies
D. B.
Best pub in London
Benjamin the bar man is top class
The owner is an absolute legend 🙌🏼
Highly recommended pub

Lovely cosy pub serving traditional English food. Plenty of choice on the menu. Good choice of drinks and being teetotal happy see Coke Zero on tap.

An amazing Pub...
Friendly and cozy atmosphere, great food and fabulous customer service.
Just the place to be...
Fabi, the manager of the place, makes a huge impression and her skills give something extra to the Pub.
5 Stars....

Went there as a group of 10 or si bar staff could not be more helpful the place was fairly busy but we never had to wait for our drinks the ladys working were non stop and always smiling good beer. We did not eat but what we saw looked good
R. B.
Cozy restaurant in a nice area not too far away from the British Museum. Despite the excellent location, the food was good and the prices even better. I think I paid 6 GBP for a meal during lunch that kept me full for the rest of the day. Except for the bathrooms that definitely could use a renovation, my visit was a great experience.
Edit: I visited the restaurant during autumn 2018. According to the staff, the restaurant has since renovated its bathrooms. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to visit again and see the new interior.
M. S.
Great little pub. A bit off the beaten path but we'll worth it. Great pub fare, good staff, quick service. I would return if I find myself in London again.
C. D.
Great little pub with amazing staff, especially the lovely Zoe who looked after us all night. Always great to hear a friendly Irish accent ☺️🇮🇪
Will definitely be back and would highly recommend

Have been twice. Fish and chips nice. My partner said his Hunter chicken meal seemed very small but nice. Sharing platters good if you want a snack. Other guests at our table enjoyed the bangers and mash.
S. S.
Nice pub, double up on spirits for £2 (result), friendly staff, clean & like the side outside seating.
S. T.
We went for lunch and it was pretty quite which was nice. The food was really good! Pretty much the same menu you will find at most pubs in the city.
A. Z.
Great local pub. Decent food, wonderful service and nice atmosphere.
J. C.
Great London pub. Lively crowd for the football matches. Good food. Quick and friendly service (Zoe).
S. H.
Lovely little boozer, Aspall Cider top drawer
J. N.
Bar staff are friendly. TT Landlord is well kept. Food is bog standard Greene King.
T. W.
Lovely cosy pub in Holborn very busy but full of happy go lucky customers out enjoying their selves
R. G.
Great pub - loads of choice of drinks, sport on the tv, great staff and vibe.

Good traditional pub with friendly service. Great atmosphere - or was that just us?!

Very nice traditional pub

Nice friendly atmosphere, traditional pub and fare...
A. O. U.
Food it's just fine, but maybe it just my mexican nationality talking for me. Beer it's good and it's a comfortable place
S. G.
Pleasantly authentic, well situated, and the 'Basil Brush' beer was great.
S. w.
Nice staff and the place was lovely recommend the hunters chicken.
P. S.
What a great fish and chips they have here! Friendly chef and reasonable pricing. I will visit again for sure. Also great to watch sports games.
C. S.
Great pub! Good vibes all rounds
T. S.
Lovely place nice and friendly good for watching sports as they have three TV screens
M. W.
This a decent pub for smokers, plenty of outdoor seating and heating when the weather becomes wintry.
m. p.
Fish and chips worth the wait after 2 pints of beer. They serve it at 12nn. Came here early at 11am so have to wait an hour.
D. S.
Great Friendly Pub with excellent meals & nice quality cask ales & beer 🍻

Fantastic pub. Spent 9 hours watching football the other Saturday in there. Wasn't expecting to find anywhere showing all 4 games so was a great little discovery. Friendly staff, nice food and drink. Nice to find a pub in Central London that still feels like a pub. Hope to visit again once all this covid mess is sorted out. Just hope it's not one of the many pubs that won't survive the latest lockdown. Good luck to all the staff and management there. Stay safe people.
C. B.
Cozy place, very friendly and helpful staff. Not too crowded as the Soho's pubs, a perfect place for people who wants to enjoy a nice, warm atmosphere and, of course, a cold beer!
J. D.
Very pleasant, traditional, and clean interior. Great service and general atmosphere.
X. O.
Nice pub. Good and kindly service.
s. k.
A nice place for a drink. We might be later to try a roast dinner.
b.
Old favourite years ago when I worked and lived nearby but gone downhill since or maybe that's just me.
L. B.
Nice London Pub opposite The British Museum, really clean and the staff very friendly, nice glass of wine after a long walk round the museum
A.
If you want to feel English pub atmosphere, definetly a place to go. Hidden in a small street behind Russel Square Underground Station.
I. P.
Superb service of experienced and friendly staff. Enjoying a good meal and we crowned ourselves with a nice beers from Green King. We applaud especially the Italian girl who welcomed us and the fabulous bartenders team!
All my best!
S. R.
Very nice traditional pub
L. H.
Visited this pub yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Had a couple of G&T's - which I was really in need of. The bar staff were really knowledgeable and there was a good variety of gins available. My partner had cider!
The alcohol brought my hunger to the forefront of my mind so I looked at the menu. There was
'A lot of choice' and I finally decided on the steak & kidney suet pudding, with a small gravy boat. It came with mash potatoes and seasonal veg. It was really scrumptious and there was a lot of it. My partner shared it with me.
I was asked how it was and the staff were friendly. ***** 5 stars
J.
Had an excellent pint of Greene King IPA. Has got a few tables on the street that catch the sun at lunchtime. Good location for people watching. Bright and sparkly clean interior and clean toilets. Didn't eat, but lots of people were and the food looked good, nicely presented. Pleasant staff.
T. H.
Nice, out of the way oub, good selection, friendly staff
R. H.
Always liked this pub. Well run, good service with friendly staff and nicely tucked away so remains a bit of a secret.
K. S.
After work team drink, first visit this year, now our team local
R. S.
Lovely pub with a lot of variety of beers and also gluten free one!
E. A.
We enjoyed the ambience of the place. There was a good Christmas menu. Really enjoyed the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and would recommend it. Surprisingly I also enjoyed the prawn cocktail and that's coming from someone who doesn't like sea food that much. Toilets were decent, so don't be scared to go. It was cosy and comfortable, and those working there had a sense of humour. Would recommend a visit.
E. C.
Great Greene King pub tucked away behind Russell Square tube station. This friendly pub is always a pleasure to visit which explains why it's always busy but it's usually possible to find some space. Very friendly pub with screening of sports events, the Friend at Hand serves good food and well kept beers
S. O.
This a great pub, with a warm, homely feel. The issue I had was with the menu. Their advertised Philly Cheese Steak is a dressed up cheese and onion toastie, with thick cuts of steak. To avoid misleading other customers, they should either follow the prescribed ingredients of a "Philly" steak (some individual changes are OK) or take off the Philly name, because frankly it is nothing like you would find in the States.
g.
Lovely little boozer.. friendly staff
A. R.
Was only in there for a short time but it's a small pub with a lot of charm. Enough places to sit and drink. Only had a pint of coke myself but the chips they were cooking (I think) smelled amazing! Was a little crowded when I was there but there's ample room to stand outside.
M. Z.
Great beer and staff. I like this pub. It was in the near of my school located. After school I visited this pub a lot. From 4pm to 5.30 pm there are less people inside. Perfect to relax and drink beer. The staff was always friendly. I recommend this Pub.
C. K.
This is a gem. We stumbled upon this place as we were catching a train nearby. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I can't really comment on the food as we only had soup but that was lovely and reasonably priced.
Great for watching the football too.
Will go back if I'm ever in that neck of the woods.
S. B.
Decent enough place for a relaxing drink. We kept waiting at the bar for quite some time while the single member of staff was on the phone but she was friendly at least. The place was clean, sport on the TV and the food menu is standard prices for the typical pub offering. Good location close to the tube station and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere if that's what you're looking for.
L. B.
Booked a Sunday lunch with my family whilst visiting London off the back of good Google reviews. The pub would make a good venue to have a drink and watch the football on one of the many screens, however, the food is average at best. The waitress look confused when I asked for horseradish with my beef and it didn't ever arrive! In summary, enjoy a beer but avoid the food menu!
L. P.
Went here to watch a Liverpool FC match as they are highlighted on the website.
Had a great atmosphere for the match with ample screens all around and enough standing area. The only problem is that they closed the kitchen for the match and that can get annoying. Also if you want a table either go atleast 90 minutes before the match or reserve well in advance especially if the match is good.
J. D.
Great wee pub. Comes into play at Xmas. Magic time.
J. B.
Decent enough pub. Good service and a good selection of drinks.
L. B.
typical English pub very well cleaned and cared for, the staff is always nice and t puts you at ease. The beer is excellent and you can eat excellent dishes, cooked instantly. I always come back willingly .
A. S.
Food was decent but the Nachos were some of the worst nachos I've ever had... They used ketchup as salsa. Mexicans would be disappointed. Other than that the atmosphere is nice and the other food is not bad but not amazing (I'm not even a picky person but it was ehh). Would come again but would not have the nachos lol
R. L.
Nice local Pub. Good beer and warm ambience. Overall food is just ok. My burguer was tasteless, the bread was soggy and the chips awful. Although the rest of the table said their plates where ok. It gets incredible crowded to see Champions league and premier league matched during the week.
S. R.
Popped in for a couple of drinks in the middle of Christmas party season and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the place was absolutely packed the bat service was swift and efficient so there was never a long wait.
Considering its tucked away in the centre of London it's got a really nice "local" feeling. I'll definitely be heading back
H. T.
Realy nice little pub tucked away at the back of the Russell Square Hotel.
Okay for watching sports got a number of screen. Drink selection is good and the bar meal menu looks really good not tried the food only the alcohol Cheers everyone.
J. T.
Cool pub. We walked around the corner from our hotel. It was a small pub with limited seating. They had a large beer selection with many things on draught and also had many hand pulls. The food was great. I really enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Skewers. Definitely recommend stopping here for a beer and some food.
G. S.
Around 6 pounds the pint, and 13 pounds the plates. Very good beer (they have Camden brews) and the food was very well cooked. The bartender was super nice with us.
B. C.
Just went once so my comment is not that reliable but it was a great experience. We reserved a table for the World Cup semi final against New Zealand and that was so cool. Great atmosphere, friendly people.
D.
Right behind Russell Square Station. Lovely little pub. Excellent beer, decent food which for London is reasonaby priced. Outside seating. Best thing though are the Staff. Was made to feel so welcome. Staff happily chatted. Fab.
O. C.
Great spot neatly tucked away behind the tube. Good offer on draught, insanely good burgers. Was nicely busy for a Wednesday but not too busy considering how centrally located it is and close to the station.
Handy online booking available and received a phone call from manager to discuss request.
Definitely recommend it.
D. N.
Decent pub down a lane, close to Russell Square station. Some beers of interest and they do food. Several big screens for football etc. Nice old style bar with lots of wood and glass.
M. M.
Friendly staff that let me sample some beers before making a commitment. Still navigating the cask beer scene here! I had the Camembert beetroot pie and it was delicious. Sweet and rich, but paired with the green salad it was perfect. My friend had the fish and chips and was pleased, importantly the fish was not soggy on the bottom--my first critique of all fish and chips 👍
Also it was beautifully decorated for Christmas with lights and garland. Very festive.
Conveniently located near hotels and hostels, it's a good starting point when you are catching your bearings in London. No wifi. Tiny restroom.
S. M.
Lovely food and staff we're spot on !!!
T. A.
Very friendly and nice place. The beer selection was ok, and the food was great. Too many Scandinavians there during the day, though ;)
Right in between the tube station and my hotel, which made it easy to pop in for a pint.
K. D.
super cool pub the staff was very nice the beer was great and the fish and chips on point! i was most surprised by the music on a saturday night, it was really relevant and you would not know that if you just looked at the crowd, super great feel.
B. W.
Good atmosphere and drinks selection. Standard Central London prices. Lower rating because we had booked tables and although we only arrived less than 15 mins late the tables had already been given away. We were offered other tables but there wasn't enough space for everyone to sit.
T. N.
Sunday roasts are a very generous affair that includes roast vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Good choice of beers and cider. Great, comfy atmosphere. Service was tepid otherwise they'd get five stars.
K. S.
We visited twice while staying down the street. Great place to stop by for a drink and for dinner. I had a salad that was really good. Great selection of beer as well! Very nice staff!
G. M.
Handy location. View outside is lacking buy what can you do on an inner city side street. Staff friendly.
D. S.
Nice little gem of a pub, situated between Russell Sq tube and Great Ormond Street. It had strong connections to the former horse hospital on the opposite corner, where the builfing still has evidence of its previous use. The pub has plenty of displays marking its connections to the hospital.Staff are very friendly, good selection of ales. Decent pub grub, although I prefer The Swan located between Southampton Row and GOSH for food quality and value for money.
D. M.
Meals were great also service
H.
I have a soft spot for this pub because it was so close to home so I went there a lot. I don't drink a lot but their cosmopolitan was my favorite. I enjoyed the atmosphere quite a bit but went there several times and could not find a seat. Staff was good, but not excellent.
I. W.
Visited pub on CL final night... This is a Liverpool friendly pub! Food is standard green king with a good, friendly landlord.
If visiting for a Liverpool game, make sure you book a table well in advance...
Clean toilets.
T. F.
Nice pub, great meals.
I. R.
It's ok. The setting is nice, the staff is great, but the food was just average, felt like something was lacking. Maybe it was just me beeing there at the wrong time, but there was no excuse for the beer wich was at room temperature and not even served in a cold glass.
N. L.
Have been there with two kids to watch the football match and felt very welcome. Nice atmosphere, good selection of beer. The kids enjoyed their soft drinks and kettle chips.
D. T.
Lovely cosy pub, so well located within a minutes walk from Russell Square tube station and perfect for meeting friends. As a woman it can be uncomfortable going into a pub alone but the welcoming safe atmosphere and friendly staff make all the difference here. Delighted to have discovered the Friend At Hand!
A.
Crabbies! And friendly staff. Just a bit pricy and not the most pretty
G. H.
I had just arrived from Jersey via flight to Gatwick, train to Victoria, and tube to Russell Sq to be admitted into the NHNN on Queens Sq, but didn’t know exactly where this was. Although the pub was extremely busy this Sunday evening, the taller of the two ladies (8 Dec approx 1800) went out of her way to look up where I needed to go. She still carried on serving, and I had a smart phone and could have done the same as her (unfortunately didn’t see her name badge), but she was adamant she was going to find the answer. Determined, and as she was so, I stayed for a drink even though running late, so please management, thank her as I didn’t get chance on leaving as even busier than on entry
B. V.
Great place to have a pint and watch football
E. D.
Lovely classic British Pub tucked away within Herbrand Street. Great traditional British food. The fish and chips and pies were wonderful as well as a great selection of ales.
E. L.
One of the best burger I hade. Think it cost 13 pounds.
V. G.
Loved The place was there in January and now back in November. Crowded but So much fun perfect beer and atmosphere. Will come again soon.
P. W.
First time visiting this wonderful pub. Friendly staff and great food.
Christmas decorations excellent such a warm and happy feel to the pub.

Always a fan of visiting this pub when I'm in London. A good old fashioned english pub with plenty of up to date beers and ales on tap and a wide variety to boot. Conveniently located on the walk between UCL and Great Ormond St.
T. B.
Pukka tukka! Very nice meal with family on a Friday night. Good quick service, delicious drinks and tasty food. Would go again. Try the steak and kidney pudding!
T. S.
Was very busy when i visited so a little slow to get a drink. Inside was nicely decorated and there was a small area outside to sit. Prices were typical of central London. A pretty average boozer.
C. C.
Traditional British pub. Staff did not go beyond the call of duty. Spilt my drink and instead of offering to give me another one they asked me to pay. Food was mediocre. Nice location.
D. S.
Very busy pub. Took a while to get served. Rather cosy venue but quite small. Would come here again.
A. S.

Nice pub just around the corner from Russell Square. All the health measures were in place and the team was very friendly.

Great friendly stuff. A classic British Pub. Recommended for everyone. If fish and chips can get better...than thats the place.

Very great central pub right next to the Russel Square hotels hence very good location for tourists who just want to stop for a beer and a bite to eat.

Fantastic food, amazing service. Thank you!

Lovely pub grub. Great service. Reasonable prices. 5*****

My absolute favourite pub in all of London, this is a very warm welcoming pub, food is nice, great selection of beer which are always perfect. In London, this place is a must.
S. W.
Decent pie, chips, sausages type pub, popular with locals and office workers. Lots of space inside.
J. f.
Nice pub staff are friendly my only criticism is that they don't serve Malibu which is what my mrs. Drinks when we go out she is not much of a drinker but she settled for desarano
T. J.
Good to watch football, a great pint, decent food but ironic that a Green King pub with this name lets little dogs in one day but turns them away the next.
S. W.
Wonderful Aperol Spritz in this pub.
M. H.
Great pub and a must see
r.
Greene King pub by Russell Square tube station. Called in for a quick punt. Sports TV and a very chirpy friendly landlord. Looked very busy around tea-time whenever we passed.
R. L.
One of my favorite pubs in London. Good beer, good food, ok prices, show football matches and as the name says, it is friendly.
A. D.
Visited this pub many times over the years to watch liverpool always a good athmosphere and friendly place to watch the match
R. D.
Comfortable local pub. Average prices. Good selections from menu and bar.
Great place to watch football.
J. G.
Nice enough folks, staff and clientele. It's close to Russell square tube, they close really quickly after last orders. It's ok, just not really my ideal place.
h. l.
Nice pub, good traditional English offerings served with cold beer. Nicely tucked away in a quiet location; perfect place to catch up with friends.
J. M.
Friendly staff and the food looked good, typical of most Greene King pubs.
B. S.
Great place for a pint after work. Always have friendly staff, loads of place to stand outside and queues at the bar are moved quickly when it is full.
r. h.
Cosy local old style pub needs a bit of a spruce up and a good steam clean but not too bad at all. Looks like they serve good food.
N. “. H.
