J. W.Still seen as a pub for the local West Indian drinkers but it's long way from old guys playing dominoes stereotype of my youth. Great service, decent pint of Guinness. Lots of seats inside and out. To sum up its a good boozer, not as "fake" as some of pubs in the area, and I like that.

G. S.We booked our table with ease..by phone, as we found out later the website is old and underdevelopment...the food is great ...the wine was a cheeky little number plus I can recommend the ripper ale.
L. G.What a great local! We went in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and wound up staying for four hours. The place has had a nice glow up, with comfortable seating, a roaring fireplace, a revamp of the drinks menu. Good selection of beers, with all the usuals plus some craft beers, wine and a great selection of spirits (including some good rum, which is key for me). The food is well presented and very tasty. I loved the wings, especially the jerk wings, tender and delicious. The goat curry was fantastic too.
But the key thing for me here is the friendly vibe. The people here are so lovely! Literally every staff member came over to say hello at some point, very friendly but not overbearing, just enough to make you feel welcome. We also had a nice chat with the landlady/owner; you get the feeling that they really care about what the locals think.

M. W.Stopped at The Golden Anchor last night for some post-dinner pints with a friend. Our server Augustus was incredibly warm and friendly, efficient and gave us some great suggestions on beers! N.Really nice pub with good vibes. Food was tasty too. Would have given more stars but the food took too long to come (90 mins) and the staff were a lil disorganised (would be good to assign waiters their own tables to prevent confusion resulting in long waits before placing orders), if you want to go for the brunch, make sure you order before the cut off time even if seated because some people were left disappointed because of this.

F. R.I've never had a 'local' pub, but if there was one laid out in my destiny it would be the golden anchor. The pub landlady was astonishingly friendly (after six years in london I didn't think there was such a thing) and the pub itself is really cool. Big fan, sign me up. Give it some love.
W. M. J.Management is always friendly and so are the staff. This place is clean and fresh. I was very impressed with how clean the toilets were. Atmosphere was lovely. What a beautiful night out for me and my friend.

N. W.The landlady is the real star here, she made the effort to talk to us and made us feel welcome. The pub itself has been recently refurbed and now has rich, dark panneling and splashes of vibrant colour that give it character. The beer selection is small but decent enough and the food is tasty, the jerk wings and curried goat were bursting with flavour. COVID provisions were good and proper with plenty of hand sanitysers dotted around. Looking forward to returning once we're out of the shark infested waters of Tier 3.

M. A.Little Nans Tropical paradise in the basement of this pub. Kitsch to the extreme. Cocktails and mocktails served in teapots served under fairy lights and pictures of Pat Butcher. Upstairs serves Caribbean food till 2.am. lovely staff.

V. D.If you want to go for a drink it's a nice clean public house and at weekends they sometimes hold functions where they take up the tables and chairs to create a bigger dance floor, plays good music too 🤩🤩
